Strelkov (Girkin) is not a mutineer. He condemned Prigozhin’s mutiny. And I think that that something we can all live with. Including Ukraine. Posted by: Chris Za | Jul 22 2023 10:28 utc | 104 This is a pipe dream. Russia can experience a crushing defeat in Ukraine tomorrow and within a year things will be back to normal between Russia and the rest of the world. Posted by: Atomkrieg | Jul 22 2023 10:29 utc | 105 The Russia where mercenaries march on Moscow unopposed and only stop after political intervention by a neighboring regime and not by actions of the Russian government. That Russia? That Russia is a weak, failed state already… Posted by: Chris Za | Jul 22 2023 10:31 utc | 106 Even if Ukraine manages to somehow completely expel the Russians from their territory, they cannot replace such a large loss of population. Millions of Ukrainian refugees will remain in Europe. Ukraine already had big problems with population decline, and this will actually become a non-healing wound. Posted by: Gaspar | Jul 22 2023 10:34 utc | 107 Well, same will apply to Russia. Not only has Russia lost all those young men on the battlefield, around a million well educated Russians have left the country as part of a brain drain. Posted by: Chris Za | Jul 22 2023 10:36 utc | 108 According to the opposition media outlet Meduza https://meduza.io/feature/2022/05/07/skolko-lyudey-uehalo-iz-rossii-iz-za-voyny-oni-uzhe-nikogda-ne-vernutsya-mozhno-li-eto-schitat-ocherednoy-volnoy-emigratsii the most correct estimates are in the region of 150,000 people leaving, they note that almost all estimates in the region of a million are based on the false assumption that the number of people leaving remains the same over the weeks, and project 20,000 in the first week to all subsequent weeks, but such figures are incorrect. Posted by: Hellbatty | Jul 22 2023 10:38 utc | 109 Problem for Russia though is that those who leave are doctors, engineers, creatives, etc and not uneducated laborers, pensioners or country hicks. They are people who create jobs, pay taxes and keep the economy running. They will be missed well above their number. Posted by: Chris Za | Jul 22 2023 10:39 utc | 110 Don’t quite know where to post this so it’s here. Posted by: DunGroanin | Jul 22 2023 12:59 utc | 111 Several localities in Crimea were hit by drones and, maybe, storm shadows.
