Yes, you could be right. In any case, you don’t see a muzzle flash from a rifle or anything like that. My first thought was that the drone was taken down with a simple shotgun.

Because this war is about getting the EU off the Russian gas and oil tit, so the market will be open for US and especially Israeli oil and gas. Yes Israeli oil and and gas. They shipped their first oil tanker full to EU in March and getting ready for lng.

you asked “What is China supposed to trade with the USA with? Or is China supposed to hit the USA with a sanctions tsunami like the USA hit Russia and suicide its economy?
China should heed the wisdom “A stitch in time saves nine.” or “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” It will cost China far less to prevent a war than fight one.
China won’t have to decide. US banks are collapsing, US consumers can’t afford food, so the serfs can’t afford Chinese products and are resorting to theft. Nordstroms just closed two San Francisco Stores, Whole Foods closed its flagship SF Store and Target SF had to lock all its goods behind locked doors. The US is going bankrupt.

HoBo 3@ 77 and others. King Charles the Turd is, unfortunately, yet another Stooge of the WEF. He seems to be keen to get involved in the Government of the UK. (I loosely say ‘Govt’ because it’s got so many Friends of Israel MPs in it and the Leader of the Opposition beng totally controlled by them, it has no agency especially when you factor in the USA as well).
Anyway, for the Posters here who have been discussing King Turd being Crowned with a tin foil hat I would like to add that, a la Inspector Clouseau style, as he is being Crowned a rogue Pigeon lands on said tin foil Crown, shits on his head and remains their in its regal state until said pigeon is removed by King Turd’s Royal Pheasant Plucker or his son. Now that’s what I would call a Coronation worth watching!!

Lightyearsfromhome #17, you asked, “What is China supposed to trade with the USA with? Or is China supposed to hit the USA with a sanctions tsunami like the USA hit Russia and suicide its economy?”
Yes, its cheaper to prevent war than wage war
China should heed the wisdom of “A stitch in time saves nine.” or
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Besides, soon China won’t have to decide. US banks are collapsing and American serfs can’t afford Chinese products so theft has caused San Francisco Nordstroms stores and Whole Foods to close and Target has placed all goods behind locked doors.

The drone attack was designed for optics rather than actually damage. It was remotely detonated just before it would have dropped into the yards of the Kremlin. You will note the drone passes the flag, hits nothing, but explodes in mid air. If the drone had descended further the optics would not have been as dramatic.
IMO

Good question indeed, although the drones might in fact have been shot down — if you look at the video, they explode over the building, they don’t smash at it.
But regardless, one Pantsir cannot protect the center of Moscow — it doesn’t have enough munition to repel a saturation attack. Presumably if hundreds of Geraniums are launched at Moscow, the dense ring of AD and EW around it will bring most of them down. But in this case it was apparently drones launched from inside Russia.
Also, as I have noted many times here, Russia has a big problem with drones that is a bit orthogonal to that of NATO. If NATO is under a saturation attack with kamikaze drones, they will fail to shoot them down because they have shit air defense. But they will at least detect them because they have excellent real-time ISR. Russia has great AD, but it will fail to detect the drones from far away. Because for three decades the Russian state has been “investing” its resources into mansions and megayachts for oligarchs, not into things like AWACS planes (which is what you need to detect low flying threats). To protect the borders, Russian needs more AWACS planes in the air at all times than it has in total. Notice how any time Russian AWACS planes are in the air, that is news to be reported. Meanwhile you barely hear anything about NATO AWACS missions — because they have a dozen planes and drones in the air 24/7, so it’s simply not news.
This does not bode well in a potential nuclear first strike — we’ve seen the Tu-141 Strizh drones reach very deep, and that is even bigger and much less stealth than US cruise missiles.
Speaking of a first attack, it has been nearly 24 hours now since the Kremlin was hit. Zero kinetic response so far. That does not speak well either — presumably for such an attack there should be a very short OODA loop and swift vengeance. So either there is not going to be any retaliation (bad), or the wheels turn very slowly (also bad). This is Russia we are talking about — it is supposed to have been practicing a second strike response for 70 years. It was the same with the Kerch bridge — a massive cruise missile launch did follow, but only 48 hours later, and it’s still not clear if it had not been planned already independently of the bridge bombing.

China is still very dependent on the US financial system, but that is changing and they are dragging Asia and Africa out of it. They need to toe the line until US can no longer use its financial tools to hurt China. That occurs due to the independence. China still relies heavily on exports to the west.
After the west needs to use the BRICS system to buy their stuff, China is free to do whatever they want.

The drone never hit the roof or the flagpole. It exploded by remote control. It was a small, battery operated drone. As a professional drone pilot myself I could see the drone was battery operated. This means it would have had a battery life of about 30 minutes at the most and would have had a maximum speed of about 40mph. The operator could not have been more than 20 miles away therefore.
The visual screen signal from the operator to the drone would have been extremely weak at 20 miles and would probably have been lost. A good clear signal would have to have the operator within about maximum 8 miles.
The drone was therefore operated within the Moscow area, had a small explosiive device attached and was steered by the operator via the screen on his control deviice.
The drone attack was therefore done for optics more than actual damage or assasination. The drone flew past the flag pole. It hit nothing at all but exploded, via a remote operator. If the drone had descended any further in its trajectory, the explosion would have been hidden from sight and therefore less spectacular.
This is IMO

Similar metal/rubber shoe construct as the Gerard hull is from the Leopard I. If you notice in footage of them operating in Ukraine, the crews have removed the side skirts. It beggars belief that even the clowns running this shit-show couldn’t do some basic homework about the effect mud, especially the viscous Ukrainian variety, has on partially encased track systems. Actually, no it doesn’t as they seem to team up Bradley’s, specifically designed to keep pace with modern MBT’s, with 60 year old T-55’s and think having five main-gun round types is a sensible logistical solution.

I knew or guessed that there would be war over Ukraine because I had read the history textbooks published in the UK since 1865. “The great game” I was told was to keep the enormous Russian Empire from acquiring a warm water port, which could challenge the British/American domination of the oceans. So I expected that Putin would do everything necessary to hold crimea at risk of his position and/or life. I do think that the whole idea of the importance of sea power is a bit dated, but there is plenty of evidence of generals/admirals re-fighting old battles, so I expected that the Russian military would regard Sevastopol as indivisible from Russian military security.
I also hold unpopular views on Putin whom I regard as a realist, who plays a long game, and avoids risk. Going to war is inherently risky, and Putin is fighting a cautious war, to the degree possible. I underestimated how cautious he was, when he pulled back, or allowed Russia to be pushed back from the initial surge to surround Kiev. Since then Russia has dug in and is fighting Ukraine as if it is the aggressor besieging Russia. The result maximises Ukrainian losses and minimises Russian ones. Ukraine seems determined to frame its goals in terms of winning back Ukrainian territory, and all Russia must do is to put up sufficient resistance to deny that outcome. Putin can keep this up for very long time.
The Polish General is right in pointing out that this approach gives Russia the advantage in a long war. But the endless talk of ammunition shortages for Ukraine must surely be wrong. Manufacturing the thousands of tons of munitions needed in this war and to replenish NATO stocks requires a factory or factories on a railway far from the front line. Suitable buildings are everywhere, and easily found. Suitable labour is a more difficult challenge but modern militaries are full of people with little urgent to do, so this too should be solvable, and a additional $10 per hour would solve most remaining problems. It would make sense for many reasons to keep this quiet so I expect the authorities have, and these factories are already up and working. Peace will not be achieved by starving it of firepower.
Putin already published the terms for peace in December 2022. I expect that he will be ready to end the war as soon as NATO are prepared to accept his quite reasonable terms. Don’t hold your breath.

China still relies heavily on exports to the west. After the west needs to use the BRICS system to buy their stuff, China is free to do whatever they want.

What people across the spectrum seem to ignore is that China buys a whole big ass ton of stuff from the RoW, including the EU and the USA, from the west it’s high value, high margin products like Mercedes Benz cars and iPhones – a whole lot of them.
Even at the highest geopolitical level like the White House this point is missed, hence the chip sanctions fiasco that collapsed the western owned chip market, China is the world’s biggest buyer of chips they buy many time, millions of times, more chips than they export, they put them in finished goods most made for western owned companies. This plays out all across the global economy with many more things than chips.
I think it’s a combination of racism and supremacism and the George Bush Sr. in the supermarket syndrome who in 1990 had never seen a bar code scanner – he didn’t get out in the real world much. Too many people from a cab driver to highest policy levels still think the Chinese economy is only exports of cheap toys, plastic dish racks, and dollar store tools that break after an hour. They have no idea how much their economy depends on the Chinese buying things.

I suggest you look up the doctrinal differences between NATO and Russian AD, especially the reason why the West rely so heavily on AWACS.; then look up the proven capabilities of Russian AD systems, before commenting.
As for Pantsir launchers in Moscow, firing SAM’s in heavily urban areas is a recipe for disaster, as the Ukrainians have repeatedly found. Doing it with a gun missile combo would be criminally stupid.

Interesting to get a professional opinion, so propaganda spectacular or false-flag op?

Posted by: Milites | May 3 2023 23:29 utc | 228

I just now reminded myself that every day that Ukraine waits to launch its counter-attack, Russia outproduces it in every armament I can think of, and efficiently ships that to the stockpiles near the front lines.
More air defense missiles, more artillery barrels and artillery pieces, more shells for the tanks and the artillery, more mortars, more ammo for the machine guns, more mines, more barbed wire, more rations, more electricity generators, and so on.
As long as the Russian lines at most only bend, and in a few places narrowly break in a controlled and planned upon manner, then the attacking Ukrainians will have to fight as if they were all Achilles, just to tread water.
And I think this waiting is forcing on the AFU counter-attack forces a draw-down in its strength, as they send some of their best soldiers to go get destroyed in Bakhmut and other areas, rather than retreat from them, and its forces that are assembled and waiting get relentlessly attacked by munitions coming down from the air.
It’s a situation that’s similar to the one Martin Sheen’s character described in the beginning of Apocalypse Now; he’s “still only in Saigon” while the NVA and Viet Cong grew stronger by the day.
Zelenskyy is flittering about abroad, his army sits exposed to attacks on its depots, and the Russian factories keep adding to the firepower of those on the front line.

///////
Sputnik has this article on the drone op, “Kiev’s Terrorist Attack on Kremlin Sets Dangerous Global Precedent”, the title suggesting how Russia might use it as one of those interviewed suggests:

“This story is related to international terrorism,” Alexander Mikhailov, head of the Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, told Sputnik.
“The fact is that Ukraine is already openly positioning itself as a terrorist state, which is covered up by the collective West, primarily by Washington and Brussels. And with such support, [the Kiev regime] calmly arranges such terrorist acts of sabotage, using the simplest and most modern method for this, that is, buying these products in the West and equipping them with the necessary amount of explosive, and then sending them on a particular course.”…
“It is necessary to inform the other side and, above all, Washington, that [drones] may soon fly to the White House too,” said Mikhailov. “This is a very serious matter. It is related to international terrorism and those who are [sponsoring and] covering it up.”
Mikhailov does not rule out that the collective West would try to play down the incident or turn a blind eye to the terrorist attack altogether. That’s why Russia needs to discuss the matter with its numerous partners and key powers, as well as with BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other international entities, according to the expert.
“We should explain: ‘Tomorrow they will arrange sabotages in Beijing, in Delhi, in other states, in other developed economies of the world,’ because those who want to maintain their dominance feel that they are falling down; so they are clinging to power, they have already resorted to the meanest methods, pulling the strings of these satellites and their other subordinate states,” Mikhailov said.

As I’ve mentioned several times on this forum, the SCO’s security component is Anti-Terrorism, and I’ve suggested before that the SCO could act against the Outlaw US Empire and its vassals using that as its reason. And on cue, Lavrov will take part in a meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers in India on May 4-5. There’s long been a no-fly zone established over the Empire’s White House, but no AD is stationed on it capable of defeating drones. The same is likely true for most national capitals. I agree with the headline and Mr. Mikhailov that this incident creates a dangerous precedent, which cancels its being labeled a propaganda stunt, which is likely one that wasn’t at all thought through.

Weeb Union has a very short update video this evening which he says shows some “fireworks’ above Bahkmut. He clarifies this to be thermite bombs. The flammable thermite content of Russia’s incendiary bombs burns at 2,200C, and can burn human flesh right down to the bone. SouthFront had a video I saw a day ago showing the effects of this weapon. Flesh was burnt from the remains of the soldiers who were sheltered in what appeared to be a destroyed factory. One skull had the top shattered open. This reminded me of a story I read some years back by a visitor to an Eastern realm. The Muslim king would have his political opponents thrown into a furnace. He would always stay by the door of the furnace until he heard a ‘pop’ sound come from within. This, he explained, was the sound of the boiling brain blowing up the skull of the victim.

We don’t have sufficient info to decide if this was an attack by Ukraine or a Russian false flag operation. Smart people, the kind we rely on, will look into it. What’s interesting (and unsurprising) is that Media that’s as clueless as me immediately took a side e.g., a CBS news report began by labelling Russia’s position as a “wild accusation”.
For better optics, Russia should have described it as an attack on the Kremlin (and thus Russia) instead of personifying it as an assassination attempt. Additionally, this is war so it looks silly to call it a terrorist attack. Considering what’s happening in Bakhmut, and the state of forthcoming offensives, this drone explosion seems trivial. However, Russia’s physical response to it, whether it was real or not, may be more telling.
Ukraine may have been attempting to make a hole in the Kremlin roof which would have been visible to the Public attending the May 9 Moscow Victory Day Parade. Surprisingly, even CNN said that.
What’s clearly bullshit is Zelensky claiming that Ukraine doesn’t make attacks on Russian soil (tell that to border towns). It further emphasises how the U.S.A. bizarrely pulls the strings ’cause Ukraine would be the first country at war to never want to attack where the enemy come from.

This feels like the strange events leading up to 9-11. Remember Massoud’s assassination? Plenty of US mainstream and social media purged, an assassination campaign by Ukraine, and US placing nuke sensors is all related to Newsweek’s trial balloon of NATO “peacekeepers” in Lviv. Just add a “State Crime Against Democracy,” or false flag, and voila.
The UAF offensive is just window dressing to crossing east from Poland-Romania.
Someone’s preparing the battle space.

The critical data point regarding the drone attack on the Kremlin is the size of the explosive payload. It was too small to do major damage, so if the UK did it, it was a propaganda stunt.
On the other hand, if Russia was to conduct a false-flag operation, it too would not use a large explosive. Russia only needs to be able to say they were attacked to use the event to justify an asymmetrical retaliation.
So cost-benefit (cui bono) is the proper way to evaluate the incident.
Is the perceived propaganda value greater than the expected Russian retaliation? I suppose, if UK has a death-wish. Russia also gains (some) propaganda value and can also now justify a large retaliatory strike.
False-flag is my judgement.

To the false-flag believers [drone attack], consider the murders of Darya Dugan (in Moscow) and Vladlen Tatarsky (in St. Petersburg).
Russian leadership would prefer to see threats as coming from outside Russia than from inside. I would figure this to be a fact. So…
Internally launched drone (one of this site’s numerous posters presented the facts on this [above]). That means a false-flag could very well be considered. But seeing the other killings I mentioned above (and then there’s the attack on the Crimea bridge) I see this as likely being another Ukrainian “terrorist” action.

US/Uki/Nato created a fake false flag, so that when the real bigger false flag by US/Uki/Nato actually happens, they could blame Russia.

Posted by: Passerby | May 3 2023 19:21 utc | 108
It was the tactical equivalent of a bit of balsa wood with an elastic band powered propellor. It was flung in the air by the Russians who shot it down with colourful big bang fireworks and the whole episode was to give them an excuse to escalate against Kiev – if they choose to – or contain domestic public opinion.
No way anything serious got past Russian air defences that close to the nerve centre.

When asked by Bennett if he was going to kill Zelenski, Putin stated that he wouldn’t. He knew that because he had no intention to kill any foreign political leader. I believe that his statement holds. Make the other country take out their own trash. It’s a good principle.
I haven’t heard if the Russians have learned whether the drones appear to be from Ukraine. Even being a model used by Ukraine wouldn’t prove that it came from Ukraine because they buy models off-the-shelf and modify them. If it was one modified in Ukraine, the use in Russia might not have been authorized by Zelenski. Could one of the Ukrainian generals have used it to try to have Zelenski killed so that he could take over the government of Ukraine?
I have no ethical problem with killing politicians for the same reasons that would justify killing others, but I don’t think that it is generally a good idea. In this specific case, Zelenski is just an actor playing a part. Does anybody credit him with actually being able to plan or execute a plan? He emots and repeats mimorized lines. (I’ve read that he enjoys doing lines.)
I think that Putin will keep the high ground by taking the high road. Ukraine will run aground faster with Zelenski acting like he has the helm.

I doubt it was a false flag because it was so minor. Surely they would want something more impressive then those two tiny drones. Most likely some hardware they could get smuggled into Russia owing to its small size. Something that came all the way from Ukraine would surely be bigger and more potent.

It’s only a matter of time before a pipeline conecting the Eastern Med gas fields of Israel to EU are built even though West now says then oppose it. The Golan oil will be developed as soon as they can steal enough water to develop the immense ground oil reserves. The the EU will be fed an energy gruel of natural gas water mixed with ground oil. The German chemical industries will not survive.
So many lives for a share of the EU oil and natural gas market. Sinful.
It’s only a matter of time.

Legitimate

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have finally received a huge amount of components for Chinese and other UAVs for long-distance flights to attack infrastructure. The sponsor was the British lobby, which benefits from continuing the conflict.
They started hitting oil depots. At the moment, this is not critical for the Russian Federation, but if there are a hundred times more such strikes, this will add some nuances to the internal case, especially against the background of the upcoming elections in the Russian Federation.
Now this is more of a PR campaign for the President’s Office, which is trying to shift the focus from postponing the offensive to local situational victories. After all, there are hundreds of such arrivals in Ukraine every day, they were simply forbidden to write and talk about them.
According to our data, the whole of Europe/The Vatican wants to freeze the conflict, like the US is ready, but only the British are categorically against it (London has not achieved its goal – the complete collapse of the EU and the emergence of a new union with the primacy of Poland, plus many more economic issues, especially since British TNCs make excellent money on the sanctions case).

It is the first visit of the dictator to the Netherlands. The dictator was reportedly scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren in The Hague this Thursday. He is also scheduled to deliver a speech in The Hague titled “No Peace Without Justice for Ukraine.”
A visit to the International Criminal Court in The Hague is also planned, according to media reports.

That night, our missiles and “Geraniums” attacked the objects of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kiev, Odessa, Zaporozhye and the Dnepropetrovsk region.
▪️ An air raid alert was announced in Kyiv and 13 regions of Nezalezhnaya.
▪️ It is reported that the target in Odessa was the military academy, and in Kiev the Arsenal plant (refers to the enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine).
▪️ The head of the Dnepropetrovsk region, Serhiy Lysak, reported on the destruction and fire at one of the industrial enterprises in the capital of the region.

It is a deliberate strategy to let Nato/Ukraine come east of the Dnieper, where the best possible advantages are for the Russsian side. From more friendly population to better logistics to easier tracking of weapon stockpiles, etc. They are working really hard to put an end, or at least severely weaken any offensive before it begins.
I do think the battles east of Dnieper will define the fate of a large portion of entire Ukraine, including west of Dniepr and west of the Bug river. Nato can’t be allowed to remain in any significant part of Ukraine, lest there will be another nazi platform growing.

UK appears to be single minded on attacking Russia whereas US has factions that want to bomb various countries. Iran, China ect.
UK working with the anti Russia faction in the US easily leads the American donkey in the desired direction. That became clear with the ‘dossiers’.
Perhaps the Brits don’t even know why they hate Russia. The privy council thinking it is somehow still relevant as in the empire where the sun never sets? Camelot comes to mind.

Aside from being a wonderful description of India, from an imperialist perspective, it shows Britain’s paranoia about Russia, even though the Great Game was well and trully finished by the time the book came out. Russian agents and assassins roaming the Himalayas, and trying to kill you in train stations. Kind of ironic that Philby got his nickname from the eponymous hero.

The Ukrainian military said that the “white ticket” that allows you to leave the country costs about $4-6 thousand.
But, and if you have already received a summons, then this can also be “resolved”. The delay will cost $2,000.
The fighter also notes that military registration and enlistment offices, military medical commissions, the Shlyakh system, which allows you to leave the country, all work in a single bundle.

Thank you. Every image I saw of the bang and the rooftop reeked of an overblown toy prank. I figured it definitely did not come from 100+kms away.
However the Kremlin prank in addition to the derailment of trains plus regular arrests I see on telegram does indicate a high level of sabotage teams in operation. Another good reason for Russia to refrain from advancing too far too fast before consolidating the country they hold.
Certainly Russia has some excellent spotters and informers throughout nazi occupied Ukraine given the gps accuracy fed into their missiles. The demilitarisation rolls on.

Posted by: uncle tungsten | May 4 2023 6:56 utc | 286

There is a hypothesis that the so-called Ukrainian offensive is planned for the May holidays, that is, for the very next few days.
An appropriate informational background is created for it, such as harmless, but morally sensitive strikes on the roofs of the Kremlin and minor sabotage throughout the country. Probably, for the sake of this, they specifically strained the entire existing network of agents.
When the actions of the troops begin, the warmed-up public will perceive even the smallest successes of the Ukrainians as “boss, everything is lost,” leaks, leaks, betrayal, defeat.
Since such news partially reaches the troops, then at the local level, any retreat can be perceived as a flight with corresponding results. The consequences are clear. Raids of Ukrainians across the old border of the Russian Federation can become a separate case of panic.
Obviously, in the coming days, one should maintain information hygiene and not give in to panic. No enemy successes can affect the course of the SMO as much as instability in the rear.

Perhaps the Brits don’t even know why they hate Russia.

Envy.
The UK Crown and its toffs covet the Russian jewellery and despise their magnificent jewellers, their extraordinary perfection of ceramics especially porcelain, their vast lands and their indomitable army and navy, their potential to be a better trading partner with Europe as the englanders have little to trade and after Thatcher – nil of any real necessity to the Russians. Plus the Russian women are beautiful and yet the Czars were happy for their daughter to marry European Princes but never the english.
Perhaps the englanders are no match for the Russians at any class. I guess the Russian mafia is even wealthier, tougher, more intransigent than nasty little buffoons like the the Kray twins or the yiddishers. Here is a peek.

As the new Syria, Russia will get bombed over the borders like Israel bombs Syria anytime they please but probably Belarus, the only buffer (Ukr was lost as a buffer and since Donbass is Russia now, they have no buffer at all on that side) will be hit first by its own fake opposition, so it looks like a civil war. Like in Sudan, the latest Russian failure. Then, after weapons and missiles are in place up to Finland and dumbo Shoigu moves 5 soldiers near the borders, preparing for artillery duels, their infrastructure will get bombed with no fear like NS or Crimea bridge or Engels. The Kremlin attack, like the previous terrorist attacks and assassinations, are just so Russians get used to living in Syria and accept it as the new normal. A few years later internal collapse is guaranteed, no losses for US, exactly like the 80s before 90s. Remember when a dude landed in Red Square and the Shoigus and Gerasimovs of that time didn’t see him? Now history repeats itself with drones with bombs, it’s modern times.
