Drones Strikes In Moscow – Missile Strikes In Ukraine

Today the Russian government revealed some numbers and information about its 'Special Military Operation'.

Today's 'clobber report' by the Ministry of Defense leads with this (machine translation):

During the day, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out group strikes using long-range high-precision air-launched weapons at central decision-making points where, under the guidance of specialists from Western intelligence agencies, terrorist acts were planned on Russian territory.

All assigned objects are hit.

'Central decision-making points' are ministries and main headquarters. These had so far not been targets. More to that below.

Defense Minister Shoigu had a conference call with the military command and noted:

"Russian forces continue to inflict an effective fire impact on the enemy. Its losses this month alone totaled over 16,000 troops, 16 aircraft, 5 helicopters, 466 drones, over 400 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, and 238 field artillery pieces and mortars," Shoigu said during a conference call.

He added that 196 HIMARS rockets, 16 HARM rockets and 29 Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed during the reviewed period.

The numbers are, with the exception of the downed Storm Shadows,  largely consistent with the numbers from the daily 'clobber report' in my spreadsheet. But I have only counted 17 reported Storm Shadow kills over the last month. I do not know where Shoigu's 29 is coming from.

Shoigu also spoke of targets of the recent drone attacks in Ukraine (machine translation):

“The deliveries of equipment and weapons to Ukraine are increasing. We monitor the volumes and routes of supply and, if identified, strike.

In recent days, large warehouses of Western weapons in Khmelnytsky, Ternopil and Nikolaev have been destroyed, the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system in Kyiv has been hit,” the Minister of Defense said.

"The military support of Ukraine only delays the hostilities, but cannot affect the outcome of the special military operation," the head of the military department is sure.

On today's drone strikes in Moscow he said (machine translation):

“This morning, the Kiev regime carried out a terrorist act in the Moscow region. I will note, on civilian objects.

It involved eight aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.

They are all amazed.

In Moscow, three drones were suppressed by electronic warfare, lost control and deviated from their intended targets.

Five more were shot down in the Moscow region by the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun system, the Minister of Defense said.

Other people had claimed up to 20 drones. But there was little damage and no reports of any casualties.

Also today was the third large drone and missile strike on Kiev within 24 hours. The were a total 17 strikes on Kiev in May 2023. I do not believe that Ukraine's claim of shooting down all missiles and drones is in any way reasonable. There will be a lot of damage in places Kiev does not want to talk about. The air defense in Kiev and elsewhere is exhausted and likely to soon run out of missiles. That will certainly increase the effectiveness of Russian strikes.

President Putin seemed to confirm that today's attack on a 'central decision-making points' hit the headquarter of military intelligence in Kiev:

Putin confirms recent Russian missile strike on Kiev regime military intelligence, under Budanov, which had claimed credit for several recent assassinations & terrorist bombings of civilians in Russia.

Budanov is a pretty nasty piece of s***. In a recent interview with Yahoo his threats were certainly not within the frame of any law:

The implication is that Budanov’s intelligence service, more commonly known by its Ukrainian acronym HUR, was behind a string of audacious and lethal attacks inside Russian territory — or what the Kremlin considers to be Russian territory. These include the August car-bomb assassination of Daria Dugina, daughter of Russia’s notorious far-right theorist Aleksandr Dugin, in central Moscow, and the suspected truck bombing in October that partially dismantled the Kerch Bridge, Russia’s only direct link from the Black Sea to occupied Crimea.

U.S. intelligence has attributed Dugina’s killing to the Ukrainian government, although not specifically to the HUR. Asked about this allegation, Budanov said, “Don’t continue with that topic. All I will comment on is that we’ve been killing Russians and we will keep killing Russians anywhere on the face of this world until the complete victory of Ukraine.

Budanov should note that the old warrior tale has been updated to: "Live by the sword, die by the dagger missile."

You better be careful b….
British counter-terror police detained & interrogated KitKlarenberg of the Greyzonefor over 5 hours for the crime of doing real journalism – the same reason British authorities have imprisoned Julian Assange for the past 4 years & kept him under siege for 7 before that.
“Your work might be interesting to the public,” an officer told Klarenberg, “but it’s not in the public interest.”
British police detain journalist @KitKlarenberg under schedule 3 of the Counter Terrorism act and interrogate him about his reporting.

The frame and engine issues are fundamentally, the first things that were incorporated into the design and most likely can’t be changed. Apparently the reason is the underpowered single engine design which is required to produce more thrust than it can handle (or the air frame allows to cool down), eating away its life. Nearly 1000 F-35 have already been delivered, the engine has to either be tuned down or changed to a less powerful one or they have to make some serious modifications into the air frame to allow more air or dissipate the heated air better.

Sorry for the OT but the F-35 problem is huge and everyone should know it.

As the fake d-day remembrance date is coming up.
What better Day to Launch the Offensive by the collected natzos as their ultimate propaganda attempt to declare a ‘war’, sorry a R2P operation that officially puts boots on the ground and air superiority from natzos airfields in Europe. Maybe the fabled NoFly Zone.
That escalates into attacks on these bases and supply lines by ‘over the horizon’ missiles. It also means that all these natzo bases around the planet become active targets. Key infrastructure included. Certainly owed a pipeline and bridge attack. The SCO mutual security treaties come into effect.
Anyway…
The poles screwed up the swift German retreat required by the natzos then, because a company decided they ought to close the Falaise Gap. That undoubted allowed the Red Army an easier passage to Berlin.
The Poles who were part of the fuse to start that War are willing to be dumb enough to do it again! I recall they were a stock character in old music hall jokes about ‘stupid’ personified.
Meanwhile Kerry and Co decide to double up on the suicidal belief set the Collective Waste now daily worships.
Rainbow, unnatural, Green, ‘carbon neutral’, Exceptional – as long as the Super Rich and their marginally rich servants can have Jet Set, Meat all day, Fresh foods and their rights to such and their property and wealth and freedom to travel protected by the dumb Collective Wasters, who are closed off from the natural cooperatiion and human security of EurAsia and the rest of the world.
We are all old style stereotypical ‘dumb pollacks’ in this daily delusion.

DC is just an admin centre for the federal government. Moscow is an ancient capital, the heart of a nation, more like Paris or London.
Hence the population discrepancy: DC about 800,000; Moscow 12 million

If you’re going to make a point – at least be honest about it – the population of the Washington DC Metro area is over 8 million.

I am afraid Finland is. Why else would they join NATO and the war on Russia?

—————
The most foolish thing Finland had done was to join NATO. The other foolish matter is choosing women to run their country. The Finns have become too pacific, but quite good at heavy drinking, rather than fighting wars. The Finns had a good time with being neutral, and with Russia not going against it. When Finns would fathom that the US is so far away, and it would’ve been better to be in good terms with the neighbour, it’d be too late. Already, how much business Finland lost…
The population of the metro area of St. Petersburg, Russia is more than 5.56 million, whereas the population of Finland is 5.54 million. And, St. Petersburg used buy eggs from Finland…

@ karlof1 135
If Team Biden tries to oust Russia’s delegation, IMO that will cause the UN to relocate.
The US has egregiously violated the treaty which provided for the UN to be located in New York City AND for the US to not abuse its privilege, which Washington has dome by simply denying visas to Iran’s official delegation several times IIRC, denying visas to all the Russian press last month, and by not issuing visas to high-level Russian delegates until the very last minute.
It’s time to move the UN to a neutral location and a less-expensive city. It’s time to start the discussion globally and to get nations vying for the prestige of hosting the UN. A change of scenery should help re-invigorate the UN. But where to ? All of Europe is out for many reasons. AUKUS, Russia, China and Iran are out because they are not neutral. Based on central location and habitability (i.e. safety and modern infrastructure for a large number of diplomats, technicians, etc.) Some Tier One candidates are Astana, Ankara, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangkok, Cairo, Nairobi, Kampala, Dar-es-Salaam, maybe even Hanoi or Mexico City. Lets get the moving party started!

So it goes

I have a question. A serious question. I have been discussing this with others. While it appears from MoA and others many in Ukraine think of themselves as Banderites, or NAZIs or followers of this or that NAZI military group what are they really? Do they have a coherent philosophy? Economic or social policy? Do any of them know why they think like they do? I imagine any economic policy if it was able to be pulled together by any young soldier in a paragraph or two would be neoliberal not national socialist. So are they really just racists? Or did I miss an earlier analysis.

There is speculation that the attack on the GUR military intelligence headquarters in Kiev did massive damage below ground; that some kind of bunker-busting missile arrived to the side of that building and killed many dozens of personnel including foreigners.
That the evident fires in the office block were either additional (drone?) strikes or the result of fire spreading from below.
Various circumstantial evidence is cited:
Large seismic event recorded in kiev that day. Satellite shots show some significant changes next to the office block. Several missiles seen falling to the ground and in the bay, which are consistent with Patriot interceptors, Increased activity around Ramstein base consistent with US medi-evac flights, subsequent absence of sightings/broadcast from Budakov, the head of Intelligence, Putin’s remarks, which considering the apparent minor fire damage, he was either trying to overplay this strike or perhaps it was more significant than was obvious, The motorway to the bridge, immediately alongside the intelligence site has been closed to all traffic. More arrests of citizens for posting images of the area struck, similar to previous damage to Patriot battery.

Shortly after that attack, a new star at the CIA HQ in Langley was added to those fallen in the line of duty. Russia got one at least!
