Ukraine Open Thread 2023-87

After a long and somewhat lazy phase, which nevertheless killed a lot of Ukrainian troops, someone seems to have given an order to hurry up with taking Bakhmut.

Today's Ru MoD clobber report on Bakhmut / Artyomovsk:

In Donetsk direction, the main forces of the Russian troops were concentrated near the city of Artyomovsk. The Wagner assault groups continued fighting to seize blocks in the central part of Artyomovsk and push the enemy to the western outskirts of the settlement. On the flanks, the assault teams are supported by the Airborne Troops.

Missile Troops and Artillery of the Yug Group of Forces and Operational-Tactical Aviation provide air and fire support to the offensive. Over the past 24 hours, aircraft flew 11 sorties close to Artyomovsk and the Missile Troops and Artillery carried out 48 firing missions for this purpose. The enemy's losses amounted to over 450 Ukrainian troops and mercenaries, three tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, six armoured fighting vehicles, D-20 and a MSTA-B howitzers, as well as two U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 radar stations over the past day in this direction.

Other than the US/NATO cheering trolls, I’ve noticed another type of troll who will pop up on MoA and spoil the otherwise excellent commentary. These trolls list Jewish or German names and then claim whatever they don’t like is a ‘Jewish conspiracy’. The trolls always omit non Jews from this list of responsible actors (eg in the UK Sunak, Truss, Johnson, Radakin, Wallace and Austin and Biden in the US who are all highly involved in this US NATO shambles, and as far as I’m aware none of these people are Jewish).
This lazy thinking and regurgitation of tropes should be jumped on and dismantled by barflies every time it appears.

This. It’s good that this is being said.
I’m in a panic right now because it was on this week two years ago (2021) when news broke out that the Japanese govt. was planning to release Fukushima nuclear-irradiated water into the ocean in two years’ time (which is this year 2023). Global Times has published an infographic that talks about the contents of the water and their harmful effects on the ecosystem, especially human health. Just as concerning is the effect on international relations it will have. Unfortunately the protests in Japan alone have not done anything to make the government reconsider, so it appears that not even Tokyo cares about its citizens’ interests.
When the announcement first came out, one alternative idea suggested was to send all that water to the USA. Can’t say why not – they (General Electric) after all had that nuclear reactor deliberately built with such poor quality and on a fault line as retaliation against Japan-Iran trade (was it trade? I recall it was something about depleted uranium).

I love the “West is decadent and weak and cancerous and their F-16s would turn into fireballs as soon as they enter Russian airspace, which is why Russia will do a first strike” vibe I’m getting from this thread.

I think once the Wagner and the Russians have finally taken Bakhmut they can make the push to get the Ukies out of the DPR. I know that the Russians are cycling in fresh troops from Russia. I will give the Ukies credit on holding out this long but money and guns are about to run out. My biggest concern now is the Ukies being ordered by the Americans to conduct a massive massacre on people to blame on the Russians so justify some NATO invasion.
