The problem is that you cannot be Ukrainian without being anti-Russian.
It all falls apart otherwise, because the whole fake identity is built on a foundation of negation.
Ukrainian real history, tradition, culture minus Russian history, tradition, and culture is a big fat zero.
Chechens weren’t like that — Chechens are their own very unique ethnic group, and there is really nothing to fight over in terms of history. They have a strong identity that is not in any way threatened by Russian culture and identity.
So even during the wars there were always rational people there who understood that first, Russia can’t afford to allow Chechen independence, because that could initiate a chain reaction destroying the whole RF, and second, Chechen independence is not a viable proposition anyway — it would be a small isolated landlocked country with no industry and no prospects for development. The combination of the support from that faction plus Russian bombs eventually defeated the US sponsored Islamists, and you see what Grozny looks like now.
I hope I am wrong — I have no direct observation on the ground for that area — but an analogous group of people doesn’t really exist in Lvov right now.

Except that the Treaty wasn’t totally enforced and Germany got around it in several ways to build up a formidable army and advance its weaponry for many years before it launched WWII.
And Germany ENDED WWI with the strongest industry in Europe. This was due to most of its industry being intact as the wars/battles and damage were mostly fought in other countries.
So Germany was in a position of strength, industry-wise, even though it had lost WWI. Germany was already doing research towards development of jet planes and other military innovations before WWII.

Estonia is a NATO member, but they haven’t placed any missiles there yet.
So it is essentially (though not quite) in the state that Russia asked all the area east of Germany to be — member of NATO and under protection, but without missiles and nukes placed there.
Right now it is actually only Poland and Romania that violate this, with Aegis Ashore, and Turkey with Incirlik. And, of course, Ukraine, thus the war.
But if Finland is to host nukes, Article 5 will have to be tested. It’s either that, or Russia has to surrender. Hopefully it does not get to that point…

It is my opinion that it’s all disinformation. But by who and for what purpose? Like all good disinformation there is a lot of real information in it. But most of that is likely available from open sources.
At least one of the pages appeared on 4chan a few weeks ago.

As I have previously posted on here at MoA, the siege of Leningrad from September 8, 1941, to January 27, 1944 a nazi cruelty which cost the lives of at least one million civilian Soviet citizens (ie women children & old men), nazi Germany provided the hammer driving these millions of innocents back but Finland provided the anvil in the form of an armed line across the entire peninsular Leningrad/St Petersburg sits upon.
Following the Soviet defeat of the nazis in 1945 the USSR went surprisingly easy on Finland, partially because unlike the nazis some officers in the Finnish army allowed small amounts of food to trickle through not enough to prevent some Leningrad citizens from eating the bodies of their already dead comrades. Can you even imagine how hungry you must be to eat spiky grass, newspapers, old boots or the arm of a neighbour who had succumbed to starvation? Not that many permitted themselves to go down that cul-de-sac.
Anyway because even though many Finns do not get it, the USSR recognised that there is little to be gained from over-punishing a neighbour, because come what may Finns will always remain their neighbours.
However once bitten twice shy, I very much doubt that Russia will be interested in adopting the same neighbourly approach to Finland this time around. Older Finns who knew their history always rejected Nato out of hand, if only because they knew that Finland could not be so fortunate twice.
Western media who, back in the days when they sledged fascists and recognised the Leningrad siege as a major crime against humanity, always downplayed Finland’s role in this overt attempt at genocide, one can only wonder what corporate media will say when the RF goes through Finland like a dose of salts (as they inevitably must) and Finland’s role in that mass slaughter is revealed.
I just dunno what Finnish pols imagine they are doing, while it is certain that few Finns ever learnt about that horror story at school, their politicians cannot claim ignorance, nor can they be stupid enough to imagine that their role in cozying up to nato amounts to the second attempted Slavicide against Russia which Finland has committed in 80 years can possibly go unpunished.

People on the Russian side of the barricade have been wailing and gnashing their teeth for a year now, demanding to know why the mighty Russian Army isn’t attacking – or when it is, why it isn’t attacking more aggressively. Facing an ever-growing Ukrainian Army supercharged with NATO intelligence, weapons and funds, the Stavka seems to have made a decision around June of last year to sit down, hold what they had secured in the Donbass, and destroy the VSU on those very favorable lines. This has by no means meant a passive approach – the Russian command realized that their enemies would need to be goaded to attack past the point of exhaustion and forced to defend in unfavorable positional battles after they finally gave up on that. In the meantime Russia would expand its forces, develop its technology, and update its doctrine to win the war when the tide finally turned. This approach meant giving up ground, fighting at a snail’s pace, and endless opprobrium in the media and among the general public.
It also meant grinding the VSU and their NATO backers into dust. NATO’s latest effort, widely reported to be the last one possible due to declining stockpiles of ammunition, war materiel, and political will, amounts to equipping a few weak and painfully green brigades with a grab-bag of Western equipment and sending them out to charge a Russian Army that’s been digging in and mobilizing fresh troops for months now. This elite assault corps will be supported by a light drizzle of artillery fire from missile and cannon systems the Russians have been countering successfully for the better part of a year, cued by Western ISR platforms flying at the absolute edge of their sensor range for fear of Russian fighters.
This is a recipe for an operation that collapses before making contact with the enemy. The members of NATO would be wise to see to their own armies, lest they have nothing left when the Russians are finished with Ukraine.

If one looks at the leak and the act of leaking as an indicator of the direction that events are moving in, the conclusion one comes to is that evidence is being progressively established that this is NOT a proxy war.
The US and NATO is in fact at war with Russia.
Article 5 works in both directions. All NATO members have individual responsibility for NATO’S actions and can expect in one form or other to suffer the consequences of those actions, which will be inflicted in such a way as to avoid the triggering of Article 5.
NATO is acting to expose its members to the risk of hybrid attack, it is not protecting them.

There is no reason why it would not be as loyal as Abkhazia to the Russian Federation.

I doubt it has a practical meaning for Finland but it can be. Or they were displayed simply for show, like the ones thru Moscow at the beginning of 2022, or moved from one position to another with no stop. The problem is on the other side, when US will fill all neighbors with nukes. Erdo shot down a Russian plane just for fun and are still best friends. Would anyone complain if Israel drops a few bombs on Belarus from Poland’s airspace or if “unknown people” from Finland drop a few drones on an airport somewhere in Russia? Or if biolabs appear in each country, 100 meters from Russia’s borders? Ukr did and still does all this and it’s ok, there are no consequences and the smo really helps them to continue doing it. it would be very unfair not to let others do the same, right?

Gwynne Dyer has lost his edge. He used to have what I’d call an appropriate level of cynicism and skepticism. Even as recently as the Syrian conflict he seemed to be willing to challenge the western government and media messaging to a certain extent. Maybe it’s because he’s getting old or maybe he’s afraid of being “cancelled”, but when it comes to Ukraine he’s completely aligned with US/Canada governments and media messaging.
That said, I think he’s right that the war isn’t ending this year. However, he delivers that conclusion wrapped in a bunch of Ukraine cheerleading and Russia bashing. I’ll turn the reasoning around but reach the same conclusion: the war is going to continue because the Ukrainian army isn’t going to collapse this year.
