More Doubts About The ‘Leaked’ Briefing Slides – Updated

Updated below (17:30 UTC)

When media reported on the first batch of 'leaked' Pentagon briefing slides they also published pictures of the originals.

Then came a second round which conveniently was more about bashing Russia than on the releases itself. Those leaks were labeled as new or from a previously unknown source. Among those stories were:

No Russia-Ukraine peace talks expected this year, U.S. leak showsWashington Post, Apr 12, 2023

The grinding war between Ukraine and Russia is expected to bleed into 2024 with neither side securing victory yet both refusing to negotiate an end to the conflict, according to a Defense Intelligence Agency assessment that is among the highly sensitive U.S. government materials leaked online and obtained by The Washington Post.

“Negotiations to end the conflict are unlikely during 2023 in all considered scenarios,” says the document, which has not been disclosed previously.

A stalemate also will result in Ukraine enacting the “full mobilization” of its remaining eligible population, the document predicts, sending more young men to the front lines.

Leaked US intel: Russia operatives claimed new ties with UAEAssociated Press, Apr 12, 2023

U.S. spies caught Russian intelligence officers boasting that they had convinced the oil-rich United Arab Emirates “to work together against US and UK intelligence agencies,” according to a purported American document posted online as part of a major U.S. intelligence breach.

The document viewed by the AP includes an item citing research from March 9 with the title: “Russia/UAE: Intelligence Relationship Deepening.” U.S. officials declined to confirm the document’s authenticity, which the AP could not independently do. However, it resembled other documents released as part of the recent leak.

The slides I have seen so far are from late February and the first days of March. A March 9 document is new.

New Leaked Documents Show Broad Infighting Among Russian OfficialsNew York Times, Apr 12, 2023

The additional documents, which did not surface in a 53-page set that came to wide public attention online last week, paint a picture of the Russian government feuding over the count of the dead and wounded in the Ukraine war, with the domestic intelligence agency accusing the military of obscuring the scale of casualties that Russia has suffered.

The new batch, which contains 27 pages, reinforces how deeply American spy agencies have penetrated nearly every aspect of the Russian intelligence apparatus and military command structure.

(The piece is bylined by Bellingcat's Aric Toler.) There is no explanation where the "additional documents" are coming from or how they were found.

US thinks UN chief too accommodating to Moscow, leaked files suggestBBC, Apr 13, 2023

The US believes the UN secretary general is too willing to accommodate Russian interests, according to fresh revelations in classified documents leaked online.
….
It is the latest from a leak of secret documents, which US officials are scrambling to get to the bottom of.

I am also curious about the selective reporting of a second stash of documents by mainstream media.

This looks to me like someone is now piecemeal feeding additional 'intelligence' to the various outlets. Each runs a different stories. If this is from a common stash how come that these outlets seem to have coordinated who is taking on what briefing slide?

No pictures of the underlying briefing slides has appeared in this second round of 'leaks'.

Now the Washington Post claims to have lots of information about the person that 'leaked' the first stash of the Pentagon briefing slides:

The man behind a massive leak of U.S. government secrets that has exposed spying on allies, revealed the grim prospects for Ukraine’s war with Russia and ignited diplomatic fires for the White House is a young, charismatic gun enthusiast who shared highly classified documents with a group of far-flung acquaintances searching for companionship amid the isolation of the pandemic.

United by their mutual love of guns, military gear and God, the group of roughly two dozen — mostly men and boys — formed an invitation-only clubhouse in 2020 on Discord, an online platform popular with gamers. But they paid little attention last year when the man some call “OG” posted a message laden with strange acronyms and jargon. The words were unfamiliar, and few people read the long note, one of the members explained. But he revered OG, the elder leader of their tiny tribe, who claimed to know secrets that the government withheld from ordinary people.

The young member read OG’s message closely, and the hundreds more that he said followed on a regular basis for months.

I am skeptical of that way too neat story. Is this "mutual love of guns, military gear and God" for real?

The tale does not really explain how the 'reporters', the Post's intelligence and national security scribe Shane Harris and Samuel Oakford of Bellingcat fame, found the person or why it was willing to completely spill its beans:

This account of how detailed intelligence documents intended for an exclusive circle of military leaders and government decision-makers found their way into and then out of OG’s closed community is based in part on several lengthy interviews with the Discord group member, who spoke to The Washington Post on the condition of anonymity. He is under 18 and was a young teenager when he met OG. The Post obtained consent from the member’s mother to speak to him and to record his remarks on video. He asked that his voice not be obscured.

His account was corroborated by a second member who read many of the same classified documents shared by OG, and who also spoke on the condition of anonymity. Both members said they know OG’s real name as well as the state where he lives and works but declined to share that information while the FBI is hunting for the source of the leaks.

One does not use real names when joining a gamers talk server or similar venues. So even if the Post had that member's online 'name' there would usually be no way to find it.

Did the teen gamer contact the Post? But why would s/he talk at all about the issue?

And why would the Post publish so many details about the person? This will evidently make it easy for the FBI to identify her or him.

The Post also claims that the stash is much bigger than previously known:

The Post also reviewed approximately 300 photos of classified documents, most of which have not been made public; some of the text documents OG is said to have written out; an audio recording of a man the two group members identified as OG speaking to his companions; and chat records and photographs that show OG communicating with them on the Discord server.

But the Post does not say where those 300+ documents come from or what they are about. Are they not the more important story?

We have pictures of the first stash of the files. The briefing slides seem real to me. The language is correct Pentagon lingo. The abbreviations used are typical. But some of the information therein, like the casualty numbers, is dubious. Do the Joint Chiefs of Staff really get briefed with Ukrainian defense ministry numbers that are know to be mere fantasies? The Pentagon and/or the CIA certainly have their own casualty estimates. Why not brief those?

We have seen no picture of any slide that the additional stories are based on. Why were those not published?

A plausible explanation is that the first release was a real leak but that someone is now pushing new 'leaks' to dedicated outlets that are only half true or mere propaganda.

On top of that the Washington Post story about 'OG' is not only weird but suspicious.

At Naked Capitalism Lambert Strether and Yves Smith also have doubts about it:

Yves and I discussed this piece; it seems to us remarkably “shiny”; perhaps written, from clues in tone and structure, by an entity other than the bylined “reporter.” The central character in the excessively tight narrative, “OG,” the leaker, is putatively a Christian, a gun enthusiast, and something akin to a cult leader of a group of disaffected teenagers on the Discord server where the documents were found; his motive in placing the documents there seems to have been to consolidate his authority and moral ascendancy over his group. Meanwhile, “OG” seems almost perfectly calculated to fit neatly into the “fascist traitor” hole in liberal heads. I wonder if we’ll ever find him? One can see “The Hunt for OG” storyline persisting for many weeks, good job. […] As far as cui bono, Yves points out that obvious next steps are to pass the pernicious Restrict Act and exert authority over yet another platform, Discord.

Or is all of this a diversion from the Ukrainian loss of Bakhmut?

Or was all this leaked as a warning to the White House by someone high up in the security state?

Seymour Hersh's latest about Zelensky's corruption may give a clue. A summary of the paywalled Hersh piece says:

Meanwhile, Hersh, citing an intelligence official, said that the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines and lack of strategic planning with regard to Ukraine had caused a growing rift between the White House and the US intelligence community.

“There is a total breakdown between the White House leadership and the intelligence community,” the intelligence official was quoted by Hersh as saying.

The alleged rift dates back to the covert operation last fall to blow up Russia’s Nord Stream pipelines, a move that was purportedly ordered by President Joe Biden.

“Destroying the Nord Stream pipelines was never discussed, or even known in advance, by the community,” the official said.

Another issue dividing the Biden administration and the intelligence community is the lack of planning on Ukraine. The official highlighted Biden’s decision to deploy two brigades a few miles from the Ukrainian border in response to Russia’s special military operation.

If there is some bad blood between the military or intelligence community and the White House the whole 'leak' story may well have been placed to limit the White House's option.

Update (17:30 UTC)

The New York Times has found the 'leaker' and published his name and whereabouts.

Leader of Online Group Where Secret Documents Leaked Is Air National Guardsman

The leader of a small online gaming chat group where a trove of classified U.S. intelligence documents leaked over the last few months is a 21-year-old member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

The national guardsman, whose name is Jack Teixeira, oversaw a private online group named Thug Shaker Central, where about 20 to 30 people, mostly young men and teenagers, came together over a shared love of guns, racist online memes and video games.

The lead writer byline starts with Erin Toller of Bellingcat fame, another byline is of Christiaan Triebert, formerly Bellingcat. It was Triebert who who tweeted out the NYT story:

Christiaan Triebert @trbrtc – 16:02 UTC · Apr 13, 2023

We've identified the leader of the Discord group where top secret U.S. documents were leaked — it's a 21-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, specifically its intelligence wing. Gift link, no paywall:

Here’s what we know about the leader of the online group where secret documents were leaked.

One writer byline of a Washington Post piece above was Samuel Oakford likewise a former Bellingcat writer.

We know that Bellingcat is an outlet for the British external intelligence service MI6. This thereby looks very fishy:

chinahand @chinahand – 17:11 UTC · Apr 13, 2023

if bellingcat id'd the leaker wonder if gchq fed some breadcrumbs so nsa could continue to maintain "we don't surveil US citizens w/o a warrant". there's a whole 5 eyes tagteam built around dodging national restrictions on surveillance, i think

I for one find it extremely concerning that the Washington Post and the New York Times worked more intensely on identifying the source of the leaks that the leaked briefing slides. Since when is it their job to find people who endanger the national security state?

The more I read about this story, the less interesting it becomes.
For Pentagon types to claim, ‘this is the most significant leak since Snowden’, both validates the first leak and confirms our Narcissism. Yeah, our Intel sources are that bad, we really do believe that Russia lost 5 times as many soldiers in a year than they did in Afghanistan.

More on Maxwell atty and friend, Sam Pisar, stepdad of Blinken.
Pisar was a member of JFK’s cabinet having earlier worked in other areas of US government. Blinken likewise had been lurking; he was in the Obama cabinet prior to his SoS gig with Biden State Dept.
Step sister, Leah Pisar was Bill Clinton’s “communication director”.
Blinken’s wife, Evan Ryan is Biden’s White House Hand Holder.
She didn’t take the blinken surname in marriage, apparently.

I’m moved by your “deep sense of shame for what I’ve allowed to happen” — your acknowledged, unpayable debt to further generations. Most people are incapable of psychic growth like that. Hitting a dead-end which indicates it’s time to turn around, that some of your preconceptions have given you a bum steer — that moment of truth, whether you call it “come to Jesus” or “I’m a failure”, that’s the hardest part.
After your jalopy hits a bump like that, you’re no longer the same person. Now I’m old and naturally less vigorous and starting over. Smart-asses aside, nobody ever said it would be easy.

It’s an infestation of evil and danger to normal, good hearted humans. We’ve got hard work to do if we want to survive as free and peaceful children of God. I’m going for the planned leak by the US empire or consciensly doing nothing to stop the (initial) leaks. Professional hog groomer has a nice take on it.
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1646227220367810561.html
Of course if you compare how the US empire went after Assange (imprisoned), Snowden (exile) and Seth Rich (murdered) to how these leaks are treated it would seem the US security apparatus is almost reluctant to stop the leaks.
Although the military unit number seems realistic, the number of slain Ukrainian soldiers is a drastic underestimation as compared to Ursula Vdl’s own admission of 100k KIA in the fall of past year. For me the leaks provide an excuse to why it’s pointless to kick off the much anticipated Ukrainian “counter offensive” which will totally fizzle out on Russian defenses that are vastly superior in manpower (the 200k draftees have been properly trained by now) and military hardware.

Sorry about hitting “Post” mid-sentence.
In my dotage, I find it increasingly difficult to understand the acquisitiveness which seems to obsess us. How much stuff do you need? Sometimes it comes down to a choice between gimme-gimme and the impression you leave upon exiting this earthly stage. Nobody ever seems to consider the latter — how you’ll be remembered — and that’s what’s wrong with us. Why we’re now so through the looking glass, suffused in madness.
Diane Feinstein rose to mayor of San Francisco after the assassination of George Moscone and Harvey Milk by a scumbag who justifiably offed himself, as well, after his lawyers, with thier “twinkie defense”, won an astonishingly light sentence for Dan White. The same month, November 1978, Jim Jones led hundreds of followers to mass-suicide in Guyana, after the murder down there of congressman Leo Ryan. That was my intro to the Bay Area, as a new resident 45 years ago.
Today Diane Feinstein (“the two most depressing words in the English language”) has made of herself such an awkward embarrassment that Democrat leaders publicly beg her to resign, for God’s sake! What is wrong with someone like her, not to mention the parasites surrounding her, making her decisions? Forever she’ll be remembered as a police-state pig with no more sense of public duty than your average thief, and still she hangs on by decrepit fingernails. What a spectacle of depravity.

On the sidelines, there were rumors that the British were demanding that Zelensky launch an offensive soon, despite the leak from the Pentagon.
Against the background of the observed defeat in the Bakhmutov meat grinder, the offensive will be the only chance to shift the negative focus.
Or arrange a controlled tragedy and something similar to divert attention.

https://t.me/skosoi/5531

An interesting rumor is being published by colleagues that it is the British who demand from Zelensky not to delay the offensive. At the same time, colleagues on April 4 suggested that the offensive would be on the May holidays, and now information has gone online that the British are demanding to start an offensive by the coronation of Charles III (May 6).
More and more information is coming out that the leak from the Pentagon was controlled and it was the British who organized it, who were familiar with some of the materials that were included in this document so that it would be more like the truth. The goal is simple: to confuse the Russians, put them on the wrong track, and also relax, otherwise they have been preparing very much lately for defense, which posed a threat to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Our source in the Presidential Office said that at a meeting with Andrzej Duda, Volodymyr Zelensky agreed on the format of the Warsaw Union between Ukraine and Poland, which will be formalized as a confederation of the two countries.
The Office of the President agreed on several drafts of the upcoming union, and most importantly, a single political/military mechanism for a renewed state. In fact, it will be a new Commonwealth, but in a new format, which will allow Ukraine to instantly join NATO and the EU.

Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira was arrested at his home Thursday after being implicated in the leak of dozens of sensitive US intelligence documents — the biggest national security breach in at least 10 years.
Law enforcement officers swarmed the 21-year-old’s home in North Dighton, Mass., about 20 miles east of Providence, RI, hours after the New York Times reported that investigators wanted to speak with Teixeira, who was reportedly stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
Helicopter footage showed Teixeria, clad in red basketball shorts and a gray t-shirt, surrendering to what appeared to be camouflaged-clad FBI agents.
“The FBI made an arrest and is continuing to conduct authorized law enforcement activity at a residence in North Dighton, Massachusetts. As this is an ongoing matter, we cannot provide further comment at this time,” the FBI said in a statement.
Attorney General Merrick Garland, in a brief statement following Teixeira’s apprehension, confirmed he was arrested “without incident” on charges connected to “alleged unauthorized removal, retention, and transmission of classified national defense information.”
The National Guard issued a statement saying: “We are aware of the investigation into the alleged role a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman may have played in the recent leak of highly-classified documents.”

So are the leaks real or not? I’m voting “Yes” at this point.

Question is, does this finally once and for all blow the cover of Bell-end-Crap as a de facto 100% US DoD/CIA funded/operated “private” “intelligence” service? In a way that cannot be denied on TV or in print. I mean, why the fuck would Bell-end-Crap care about a leak from the USG otherwise?

The information in dump(s), which readers here are aware of but Americans are not, seems more important than who did the dump. The information, if Americans were apprised of it, would shock Americans. 7:1 Ukrainian to Russian kill ratio, U.S. Special Forces operating in Ukraine, Ukrainian counter-offensive unlikely to succeed. I posted this information in a Washington Post article’s blog and was, as usual, showered with insults. There is no getting through to these people that things are maybe not as reported in the western corporate media. Heavy help us.

Regardless, I stand by my assertion that if this is in fact a psyop, they’re really going to Hollywood levels to scam the public. Otherwise, I can see how this could be a coverup for NSA spying on Americans, but so far no real details on that.

Poking around a bit, here is info on Mass Air Nat’l Guard, Wikipedia.
“The Massachusetts Air National Guard consists of the following major units:
102d Intelligence Wing
Established 18 November 1921 (as: 101st Observation Squadron), non-flying unit
Stationed at: Otis Air National Guard Base, Mashpee
Gained by: Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency
Performs intelligence analysis of ISR data streaming from these sensors and fuse that information with other intelligence sources to provide war fighters timely, tailored, and actionable situational updates within minutes or seconds.”
As noted by some, at 21 yr old, would maybe be an E4 at best. Likely an E3. Pretty much at the bottom of the totem pole. Would only work on small individual tasks, that are sent to higher ups (E5 and Lt) before getting into any briefing documents.
As an NG, would only be working weekends twice a month, unless getting a valuable full time slot. Maybe he did, if he was really good at his assignments. If not, then he had limited time to get the documents.
So, if it is really him (not putting the name here) then the path to “is this true” lies through any article where the CO (Commanding Officer) of that location is suddenly replaced. This is serious stuff to happen under your command. A Full Bird or LTC head will roll, along with several GS-14’s or 15’s. In fact the State NG General could be sliding into retirement quickly over this. IF it is really this individual.

@ b
If there is some bad blood between the military or intelligence community and the White House the whole ‘leak’ story may well have been placed to limit the White House’s option.
That is what it is and what it has been ever since, give or take the danger for the overall hegemony to fall or multipolarity succeed.
All this docu-leak smells as a tit-for-tat internal conflict between fractions involved in this geopolitical circus, leading to a nightmare. At least on the surface.
There we must ask ourselves who is really in charge?
It is more than obvious that Biden is out of his capacity (and his country) and Blinken, Nuland, Sullivan and the gang are running the show ever since, not to the most of some intelligence and military liking.
This is a really dangerous situation.
Instead of us being led to believe that we need to be concerned about RF if its government falls apart, we basically need to be very worried who and how is running the most dangerous country in the world.
However, what is really needed is someone to explain this to American people.
To prevent mindless doubling down and every day more of it, I can imagine that there are somewhere very high positioned people within the USA mil/sec tackling ‘the gang’.
There is certainly a significant number of personnel that have TS access and think that such path is deadly, and try to prevent a very rapid crumble and deterioration of the USA and its Western, quickly gathered, posse.
Obviously there is a trial of a mitigation by current USA handlers and there is a possible stream of mixed info/disinfo to obfuscate reality.
What we are witnessing are various variants of better-than-Stalinist methods applied within structures of a failing government.
To me it also looks as a lonely cry from someone who understands that and releases stuff all over the dark corners of the web (Manning alike).
And of course the 21 y.o. pilot serving with the National Guard
looks as an ideal ‘patsy’.
That lousy story is developing, and it will be a ‘let the Pedro burn’, and one of many fairy tales that we will read about in the coming days.
What that ‘leak’ caused is already depriving briefings to some departments of Pentagon, blinding its own infrastructures – most dangerous deed.
Sawing the seeds of mistrust and suspicion within top mil/sec corpus looks and smells a lot like a soft internal coup.
Purge all those who question the narrative and facts.
Remember ‘alternative truth and facts’ from Trump’s spokesperson? This is just a continuation, no change there.
It is a Nazi style, but very advanced, putting Goebbels and his Ministry of Propaganda and Public Enlightenment to shame.
Mainstream media, as it seems, are run from someone’s ‘room 392’ (O.North’s command and control room, where he had an overview on all the world events during Reagan) and it shows.
The ability to sing a song in a unison couldn’t be a coincidence.
Biden will probably try to lure Ireland into NATO abolishing the whole neutrality concept, while Austria might be the next ‘volunteer’ in line, being strategically important.
Bolton wants Japan, Australia, and South Korea into worldwide NATO, beating the right drumbeat that neo-con likes to dance to.
Again, there it seems that there is no choice left.
With us or against us.

Of course there had to be an arrest, the final act in a pathetic script. The arrested alleged young gun-lover is from the same yarn os the pro-Ukranian group, five guys and a gal, who simply rented a boat and sailed away to blow-up the Nord Stream pipe lines. The leaks, the arrest, the pro-Ukranian group – what a collosal waste of time. It’s not even funny.

As i commented on the article ob 10. April, #8:
There is no leak. The whole thing is a controlled intel-operation to cushion the big blow (russia is winning).
The US is panicking all over the place. They cannot afford the narrative of Ukraine winning etc.
They need the off ramp. So they pretend the „leak“.
Not very clever, but clever enough for the stupid Media and their stupid believers.
Russia won and the west actually didn’t notice.

I guess you have never worked in a classified facility or a SCF.
Printing isn’t that easy. Any classified printed material must be treated like any other classified document. You just don’t “print and carry”.
And some of the pages were marked TS. Way, Way, Way unlikely a 21 yr old would have a TS clearance, or a need to know what was on those charts.
So….
Unless someone much higher up in command left those docs “laying around” (again a very EXTREMELY unlikely possibility) where an E3 could find them….

I guess you have never worked in a classified facility or a SCF.
@ BroncoBilly | Apr 13 2023 20:02 utc | 130

Indeed I have. Every page had to be accounted for. Drums were removed from the copiers when not in use. Everything printed had to go through the document preparation center. We had document clerks and regular random audits.
The people running the printers were simple clerks. Document prep was siloed. Part of the security model was that the people working there wouldn’t understand the documents they were printing.
The simplest explanation for the leaks is that the kid was clerking in the printshop.

– alleged source of leak sounds very unlikely. An Air National Guard outpost has no need for the sort of information that was posted. And someone in their early 20s would not have the security clearance for the information, even if it was at the location.

I hadn’t thought of that angle, but then someone was getting daily (weekly?) hard copies of those docs. Typically would simply place on screen during briefings vs hard copies these days.
But still he would have to have his cell phone or camera inside the SCF, a big no-no, then risk taking pictures. Or smuggle them inside his pants when going to bathroom and returning them. (they were folded)
Either way, the local security officers and unit commanders are screwed.

I’m pretty sure this is “fake” leak in that the pro-war with Russia camp in the State Department and the pro-war with China camp in the Pentagon are now leaking and counter leaking documents to push their own narratives. This guy they’ve charged is just a pasty and they’ll use him a fall guy while they dump a bunch of documents. Supposedly this “leak” happened a month ago with a dozen or so docs, now the media is screaming their heads off about several hundred documents that have been leaked, but no one has seen them yet. Bullshit!
Both sides are using this nobody as a convenient fall guy, both camps release a bunch of pre-approved documents pushing their respective agendas and try to coalesce elite opinion towards one side or another (escalate the war with Russia or back off, with the implicit understanding that the US will go after China instead). This guy then gets an offer he cant refuse, accept all guilt, get sentenced to 15-20yrs and is pardoned after 8yrs or so. I’m sure this guy is guilty of something that pissed off the higher ups, but whatever it is, it wont be what he is sent to jail for.

When I was about that kid’s age, I worked for a defense contractor one summer, doing flunky tasks like updating PC software. One room I went to had a rather impressive combination lock on the door. When they let me it, there were red rollers (like the cops) activated on the ceiling, and everyone in the room had turned over their work and were physically leaning over their desks.
While I was doing my work, it occurred to me that the same media I used to copy things onto their computers could be used to copy it off, and clearly none would be the wiser.
I resisted that urge, but I did swipe a copy of Turbo Pascal, and walked out of the facility with it. Far more interesting. Anyway, that was the end of my espionage career.

Jack Douglas Teixeira ks a patsy being used to deploy the perception of “Under Control” to the public.
The guy was carried out from a military base like a potatoes bag. Normally, it would not be necessary to use heavy armed FBI agents dressed like alien warriors to run an arrest inside of a military base.
It was designed for a show. Nothing more. The culprits still around laughing like the ones on 9/11.

In the end, this is what happens to organisations that put the post-modernist theory of equating objective reality with narrative ‘truths’. The press should largely be seen as organs of the state, masquerading as independent bodies, so will actively pursue, conceal or distort information to advance that official narrative. In Ukraine the narrative of victory had been written well before the SMO had started; however, as each month went by that gap, between narrative and reality, had widened and by the Autumn it could only be closed by tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldier’s corpses, casualties of two operationally successful but strategically Pyrrhic victories.
The Russians were defeated by the narrative all throughout the Winter, launching failed offensives and perpetually coming close to running out of soldiers, missiles and tanks. The Achilles heel of this approach, that had worked so well at manipulating and controlling domestic populations, whilst personally enriching its divisors, was that it only worked against opponents who themselves believed in the supremacy of winning the narrative; something opponents realised too late, before they were out-manoeuvred, crushed and subsumed into the collective. The post-modernist’s though are having their teeth broken, trying to breakthrough the Russian indifference and public rejection of a narrative based on immeasurable, subjective metrics. The leaked documents whether false, real or a composite of both will have little to no impact on the conduct of Russia’s operation, her priorities being solely dictated by the constantly updated picture of the progress, or lack off, that her forces are making and the realities of her political and economic situation. This, in the end, is why Putin’s support is at an all time high in America and I’d wager throughout a lot of Western counties, a Russian victory in Ukraine would signal a reassertion of the supremacy of traditional institutional values, over the increasingly subjective values exposed by their Western counterparts.

This would be “101” for anyone who wished to leak such documents.
By now this is so much in the popular culture.
We know Snowden´s immaculate preparations to escape.
So either its intentional by insider which still appears questionable, since the nature of the documents so far caused consequences noone can really plan to shape in a way to influence WH decisions.
Or it just is a dumb accident and security breach / weakness in the system (contractors have to be cheap whoever employs). Just remember people loosing sticks with NHS data on a London bus.

US ‘intelligence’ is now an oxymoron. It got much worse when Cheney insisted that the CIA give him the info he wanted, not a reality based assessment, and has likely followed that trendline to the present. What does a leak matter, even if real, if the source is crap, or even a mix of crap and substance? The whole batch of leaked slides can just be tossed in the manure pit of US propaganda, where it will mix seamlessly. Farce.

If a 21 year old soldier leaked top secret documents, I would assume the documents were knowingly placed where the young man would pick them up.
But in general my impression is there are different groups within the US three letter agencies that are unhappy with current US policy, and communicate leaking documents – real or fake – to the press.

“Everything was scripted beforehand” – agree on that.
Zombie MSM is still running the exact same narratives they did approximately 14 months ago, namely:
-Putin is already dead from 10 different cancers
-Putin has a double
-Shoigu and Gerasimov are preparing for a Palace Coup
-missiles ran out in March 2022, OK, lets make it March 2023 or whatever
-Putin will drop a nuke in Kyeeev any moment now
-Putin didn’t drop a nuke in Kyeeev because palace infighting with Gerasimov and Shoigu
-Different factions are imminently going to coup Putin and place Navalny in charge
-98% of the Russian army is tied up in Bakhmut and about to get surrounded
-Ukraine is only losing because “lack of ammo”
One of the newer additions to the narrative is the “attrition war”.
And it all comes from one source, or two, however you want to call it – Ukraine MOD facebook account seemingly run by teenagers, ISW and “British intelligence”.

Larry Johnson’s brief initial thoughts: https://sonar21.com/a-controlled-leak-and-a-21-year-old-scape-goat/

I don’t know how this was done, but there is no way that a 21 year old National Guardsman had access to the TS material, especially CIA documents from the CIA’s Operation’s Center ~ I will write more tonight.

Which kind of tangentially relates to a question I was about to ask, with apologies to Left Pondians: my hazy understanding of the US National Guard is that it’s a reservist/volunteer part-time organisation, the closest British equivalent I can come up with is our Territorial Army. So, how in the world can someone who is part of that force have access to classified documentation relating to a live, dynamic conflict, where US involvement is (supposed to be) clandestine?
Again, apologies in advance to USians if I’ve got things entirely wrong here.

It is stated the suspect who released the ‘secret documents’ is a 21 year old in the US military, and it is suggested he released the documents his own Discord server. If this is the case where a 21 year old is given access to the “real” secret NATO plans and then dumps the documents on his own Discord server does not add up. The US military either created a fall guy for the psyop and/or they are really f’n incompetent.

The trouble was they kept pushing the pre-written narrative when it demonstrably was false, rather like the butler still posting fake postcards from Paris, after the writer had drowned on the Titanic!
Look at the ludicrous images of heavily armed FBI agents, why not DOD, arresting the ‘traitor’ whilst a drone, from a state sponsored narrative organisation, conveniently hovers overhead! Pathetic, slavish genuflection to the narrative and anyone daring to criticise it will be labelled, targeted and mercilessly hounded. Their end goal is transparent, trying to provoke people into the type of violent protests and terrorism that those in power extolled, when they were committed by dedicated leftists. It’s not working but it does pose a serious problem to the increasingly targeted sections of society, what is the best way to effectively protest, when all traditional forms play into your opponents hands?

Larry Johnson makes a good case that it’s all a “controlled leak” of carefully crafted propaganda. But some of what’s been leaked, by whomever, works against apparent interests of Biden henchmen.

Dedicated progressives will gobble this up, smugly opining that daddy government was right all along, meaning they were, when it said that white extremists posed a serious threat to their embryonic socialist state. Others will publicly accept the narrative for fear of losing what they have, but privately reject the explanation, coming from a government who daily lies to them. The increasing minority/majority will reject the state narrative, simply because it comes from the state. There will be others who span multiple camps, but the increasing control exerted by the state is a response to the fear that ‘most Americans’ probably are not ‘gobbling it up’ with the same alacrity that they used to, and the number outrightly suspicious of anything ‘fed’ to them is growing.

Sloppy, inaccurate, lazy and erroneous. But authentic.
That first 4chan post prompted Bellincrap to step in. The original 4pages were quickly replaced with poor quality photoshops, accompanied by a distract, divert, conflate campaign, with much argument then focused on which set was “real” and which “photoshopped”. That kept the autists at 4chan distracted for a day, counting pixels.

I just finished writing a long explanation about these leaks at:
https://team10tim.substack.com/p/the-nyt-leak
The really short version is that the US gov and the MSM are going through the motions to vet this leak and establish its bonafides to:
1, justify more censorship
2, delay the spring offensive
3, provide preemptive legitimacy to any new leaks. Anything that the US wants to claim in the next 6 months can be part of the original leak, and thus already substantiated.
Special thanks to Richard Steven Hack

Johnson has seen some of the documents amongst them is one CIA doc and one from another agency. The CIA doc would never be seem by the military. Its only at the very top of intel would a package of docs from different agencies come together like that. Cant remember if he said NSA.
But definitely a deliberate leak at very high levels to take down the Biden admin. Sullivan, Blinken ect.
He ties in the Hersh stuff on Zelensky corruption as part of the same operation. So to me that also ties in the Hersh stuff on blowing the pipelines as there he named Biden as personally giving the command to detonate the charges.

Again, the Achilles heel of using post-modernist narratives for self-advancement of your agenda.
I wonder wha impact the leak has had on frontline UA morale and the domestic front, and was the ‘beheading video’ release a response to it? Soldiers always bitch and moan and suspect that things are not going as well as the official line, as do those left behind, albeit with less bitching and more worrying, but to have your major supporter confirm what your opponent has been saying all along……

A corrupt 80 year old dotard is at the helm and the ship is going DOWN. Sorry, World … it’s not just us. Everyone is suffering from this shit show.

The Cat crept into the crypt, craft and crept out again. As in the Novichok that never existed but mysteriously poisoned the girl who found out that it didn’t exist.
I agreed to FOAD IF the CIA had been compromised, but not if Kiriakou is right and its Cat crap from beginning to end.

the wapo and nyt work for the intel agencies… they continue to show their true colours here.
as for this 21 year old being responsible – trust me.. most of the american public will gobble it up! moa – not, lol…

______
LOL. Media investigators (not NSA, FBI, DHS, CIA, DIA) are able to track down the perp — a 21-YO National Guardsman, with high-level access to double-super top secret NOFORN documents. And you say you’re not buying that?
My sense, from McGovern, Johnson, MacGregor, Outraged, etc., is that the original leaked docs were genuine, but I suspect this latest stuff, and the arrest, is trash fuel for a giant diversionary dumpster fire.

Not American, but taught by Americans and now living across the pond from you. I feel for you about Canada, I have liberal relatives in the media complex there, who told me, when I questioned the ‘narrative’ about last years trucker’s protest, that they felt ‘offended’ by my suggestion that they and their colleagues might perhaps challenge the government’s version. I laughed it off and carried on, so they put the phone down on me. Reminded me of the hippie in Futurama, who loudly proclaims his right to be heard and responds to any other opinion, that challenges his, by putting his hands in his ears and saying ‘shaddup’, repeatedly.
Just checked the comments on a website that has its pulse firmly on the MAGA movement and they overwhelmingly reject the official narrative. Wonder when Garland will arraign 45’ for helping leak the documents, being that he is a Russian agent an’ all.

So a military member, who (supposedly) committed a crime, while in uniform, on a military installation, is not arrested by CID or MP’s, but by the FBI?
And who will be holding him? Federal prison vs military prison?
Where will he be tried? Federal court vs military court?
Military court would be the far more preferable venue (from a prosecution standpoint), and certainly the most convenient. The trial would be done 3 times faster than in civilian court.
The “tracking down” was done days ago. The delay was another power play between DoD and State/FBI. Long enough for “fluff” pieces to come out on the day of arrest. Knowing that those would not be published after arrest and charges, as they sway public opinion.
If this stays in civil court (and maybe he was also working full time as a civilian employee at the facility, then NG on the weekends) However I’m not certain you have to be in uniform when committing a crime for military court process.
Just another weird aspect to this.

I am amazed that such a lowly, inexperienced, unvetted person might have been allowed access to such classified documents. If so, then the Biden regime is getting exactly what it deserves.

He is a patsy. The docs came from multiple organizations. Only a handful of people in dni have access to cia docs and fbi docs and pentagon docs. See Larry Johnson interview with Napolitano this afternoon.

yes, but it was the wapo that got the special interview with his friends! if you believe that – there is more bullshit to believe!
@ Milites | Apr 13 2023 23:09 utc | 193
how many canucks viewed the trucker story is a perfect example of this.. managed narratives are all the rage, lol..

@Outraged.
My timeline is
4chan post at 04/06/23(Thu)01:33:13
The anon posts the first of 4 images with a fold, showing Ukrainian losses are less than Russian losses.
He posts this to win the argument that Ukraine is “winning”.
His comment:

“as of March 1st Russia has lost 35.5k to 43.5k and Ukraine less than half that
Outnumbering Ukies on all front and Russia is only able to make marginal gains
Its fucking over Zizters”

He then posts the other 3 docs.
While this thread is still alive, others who are either participating, or lurking, take the doc and start other threads.
Within an hour there are (guessimate) 20-30 threads alive with the leaked docs. Moderators (janitors) on 4chan are feverishly locking the threads, which of course only antagonises 4channers who start more.
With 4chan on fire, the leaked pages are swiftly emerging on twitter and telegram.
Donbass Deshuva is quick to have the pages.
Once they are posted there, the 4pages become “Russian” and “Russian disinformation”. >… Russian telegram is behind the leaks.
[It’s all so predictable and tiresome]
Activity at this point has long stopped being linear and is multiples of simultaneous.
Within 2hours someone has photoshopped the first image which had the low-Ukraine/ high-Russia casualties.
The altered doc reverses this to high Ukraine low Russia.
The obvious photoshop is obvious and much focus is then directed to arguing about the photoshop… and because it has lower Russian numbers, it too is now “Russian disinformation”.
What happens now is like a neighbourhood where every house has a dog.
The dog at Number 12 detects a prowler and starts barking. Dog next door wakes up, starts barking. A dog three streets away starts barking.
Rapidly dogs three suburbs away are barking. None know why. Barking at night is what they are fed to do.
By now the 4chan pages have paid (and volunteer cheerleaders) barking on 4chan, barking on twitter, barking on telegram, barking even here @ our humble bar.
Barking barking barking. “Russian disinfo”. “It’s all fake” “it’s a photoshop”,
“Numbers are wrong”… “found on 4chan-are-u-serious🤡🤡”
At this point Bellingcrap gets involved (if not before) and directs 4chan to Discord, where it is claimed the docs had been posted much earlier.
Again, all simultaneous, not linear, another “100pages” are purported to be in the wild. These are not posted on 4chan and links as to where they are supposed to be located are rapidly “404”.
Intel agents are on 4chan (anonymously) begging for links … which they then rapidly kill.
Eventually there’s an obscure Chinese site, far beyond the reach of US intel, that is able to host 38pages.
As far as I am aware no one has seen the “100-pages”.
As b has posted, this “new” lot of leaks appeared much later.
They did not form part of the original 4chan post.
The Discord server story is heavy with the odour of BelliCRAP.
b has fingered them already.
At this point there’s nothing “organic” about the leak and their derivative cousins.
IMVVHO the cabal of Nuland ISW Bellingcat are now very much back in control of the “leak” and we’ll learn nothing useful going forward.
Some non-entity nerdy gamer is going to be the patsy for this, and the actual WHO and actual WHY of how high-security docs made it to 4chan will never be known.

This second round of leaks is certain to be a form of damage control, and the arrest of the young fellow, picked up by GT Stroller @ 126, looks staged as to be part of that damage control with The Washington Post playing its part in printing the story about OG’s identity. There would not be an aerial shot of the supposed OG calmly reading (or looking as if he is reading) something so open that it can be photographed by a camera drone that just happens to be flying overhead at the very time of OG’s arrest.
All this damage control and anything else connected to it as a consequence are serving to divert public attention away from what is really happening: that the US government simply has no clue (and never had any) as to what is happening in Ukraine, and US intel agencies have lost control of any narrative they may have had or tried to foist on Ukraine – because for a long time, they too have been operating in their own hermetic information bubble.
To think that all this time since 2014 (and even before then perhaps), when the CIA and the SBU were sharing the same building in Kiev, the SBU people were just feeding lies to the CIA and the CIA was developing and carrying out plans based on those lies – all to the ultimate detriment of Ukrainian soldiers and reserves, and their families.
And now there is news afoot that Zelensky is selling parts of NW Ukraine to Poland in return for any military assistance Poland might deign to provide, under the guise of a mini EU-styled union. The only thing missing is what Zelensky himself gets out of such a deal. MoA barflies may add as many zeroes as they wish to the amounts Zelensky anticipates will ping into his bank accounts somewhere in the Cayman Islands.

Doug Hillman @192–
The key is the inclusion of a CIA doc in the tranche–there’s zero possibility the scapegoat could’ve had access to that. IMO, the question now becomes: Was he set up? Since he had to be provided with the CIA doc at least, then yes becomes a very strong possibility.
