If the peevish Poles finally realized how they’re being played, perhaps they will present the $enile One with a heaping plate of pierogi and sauerkraut while a ten year old Polish cutie keeps urging him on to eat up, eat up. If the ratio is two parts of the fermented cabbage to one part of the pierogi; the next morning he will be so busy making runs on accounta the runs that he may not caress sweet young thangs for the next few days if not weeks.

I have read there are “not so secret negotiations in respect of NordStream sabotage “and that Putin made a statement today that if these negotiations fail, he will give 72 hr warning….” Is this credible?

Return of US Special Operations Forces to Ukraine is direct involvement in conflict
Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov commented on the information that appeared in the American media about the possibility of resuming the activities of the US Special Operations Forces in Ukraine
Tass https://tass.com/politics/1575085

An article on the subject was published earlier in the day, particularly in the Washington Post.[.]
“At this stage, we are talking about an investigation by journalists, which relies on unnamed sources in the administration. There is no official information on this regard yet,” Antonov stressed,
“At the same time, discussions on the pages of one of the leading American media about the possible sending of Special Forces to Ukraine are very remarkable.
Such publications once again testify that here in Washington there is an obsession with an unrealizable dream to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia and readiness to face indescribable risks in this pursuit.”
“If the US leadership decides to resume activities of the Special Operations Forces on the Ukrainian territory, it will represent undisguised participation of the regular army in the current conflict.,” the diplomat pointed out.[.]

The Pessimist @193
No need to be so pessimistic. As we type, Russia is gathering up a concatenation of massive assaults. The Ukie army has been thoroughly trashed and their reserves and logistical train is all messed up along with their electrical grid. Do check out Weeb Union’s latest. It should perk you up a bit.

An addendum, if I may, to your comment.
What put the “slow” into Russia’s original sloSMO was, IMVHO, their expectation that once it was apparent/obvious the Sanctions-From-Hell were like a tar-baby for Russia, but a real thorny briar patch for the EU-UK-US, the Smartest Guys in the Room would want to negotiate.
Maria used the expression “step on the same rake twice”, meaning the Russians did not ever anticipate the EU were so stupid and would work so enthusiastically against their own interests.
Now the Europeans have demonstrated so comprehensively they are a much greater enemy to themselves than Russia ever intended to be.
So sloSMO didn’t yield the results Russia was anticipating.
The USNATO wanted a kinetic war along with its economic war.
Russia is now obliging.

It is easier to recover from losing a conventional war than from winning a nuclear one.
For this reason I believe nuclear weapons will remain unused.
Posted by: ZhukovG | Feb 10 2023 17:35 utc | 16

Sure, but that is the logic of a human mind, not the logic of history. There are certainly several very compelling arguments that demonstrate the possibility of a nuclear war. That the use of nuclear weapons is possible is evident from the demise of several treaties, nuclear doctrines, and the existence of nuclear war plans, all of which cannot be for posturing. Not only their use cannot be ruled out, but could be likely under some conditions. It is good to hope, but not to arrest one’s ability or willingness to act.

I don’t know why Helmer has his panties in a twist. Perhaps he thinks he’s been scooped?
Most of his complaint is that Hersh didn’t cover this and that. I’m listening to Pepe Escobar on Medhurst right now, and he points out that Hersh probably didn’t publish half of the information he actually has, just to keep the article concise (there are limits on Substack posts based on email limits, although one can always read the full post on the Substack site itself – but your subscribers may choose not do so) and also because he may not have enough confirmed backing information to justify publishing it.
Escobar says there are certain issues with the Hersh narrative, but nothing critical. He mostly is suspicious of how little credit the CIA got in the story and he also mentioned how MI6 wasn’t even mentioned – although he has no credible info that the UK was involved. The Liz Truss call Helmer refers to proves nothing.
Basically there’s no point in nit-picking the Hersh piece – the overall effect is: 1) it’s on the record, and 2) it’s going to be ignored by the West, and 3) no one is going to be held to account by anyone as a result. End of story.

Likklemore @200–
Thanks for your reply. I read bits of that rumor but don’t know where it surfaced. I checked my sources to see what I could find and found nothing. IMO, its the “Russia’s gonna use nukes” brigade spreading their FUD. Russia doesn’t operate that way. What’s been escalated is the demand for an unbiased international inquiry/investigation that includes all the stakeholders as should be. Continual denial of doing so is merely further confirmation of guilt similar to MH-17.
IMO, Russia didn’t need to be “helped” by something like Hersh’s story; the Outlaw US Empire has compromised itself more than required already, and Russia will continue along the path it already chose. Domestically, this could be very big–IF–a proper investigation into the entire Ukraine plan is done for that would undo the Neocon faction–IF–done properly via a House Investigation in tandem with a House appointed special prosecutor thus cutting out the Attorney General/Justice Department and D controlled Senate. There’s so much muck to dredge up such an investigation would need to be utterly corrupt not to find anything. And it would be on C-Span for all to see without network filtering. We shall see.

So I guess you wouldn’t want the two ChatGPT extensions I have installed in my Firefox. 🙂
As I’ve mentioned in my response to the fellow claiming Proton is a “honeypot”, 99.99% of the time it’s irrelevant what extensions one uses, except in terms of reliability since a lot of extensions are crap coded. But everyone does what they feel is important, which doesn’t concern me.
But my point is nothing is “clean” if you’re interacting with a site on the Internet. As I pointed out in the post I reference above, it’s ALL hoovered up by the NSA and in most cases someone else as well. Remember, if it’s “free” – you are the product.
So I use Mate Translate and I’m completely unconcerned. I’ve tried using “cut-and-paste” translators before, and I appreciate the convenience of just clicking the Mate icon and clicking “Translate to English.”

For the late night owls and early risers as the world turns here’s another great nugget from Maria Zakharova’s briefing:

Statements by US State Department Spokesman Nicolas Price
We heard amazing statements from the US State Department and the White House, which immediately began to “shake its head in all directions” (this is their usual state of recent years). I was surprised by the State Department, where, unlike the White House, there are people with specialized education.
At a recent briefing by the US State Department, its spokesman Nicolas Price responded to questions about the published investigation. Let me remind you that Sergei Hersh is not just an American journalist, but an investigative journalist. Price called all the accusations “utter and complete nonsense.” In addition, answering a question about interaction with Oslo and Berlin on this topic, he said that “it would be atypical for the United States to involve allies and partners in what is complete nonsense.” I must say that the most typical thing that we have seen in Washington in recent decades is to involve its allies in “complete nonsense.”
I don’t even know where to start. The list is huge. Let’s start with the passage about “involving allies and partners.” It’s Washington’s “godsend” to talk about solidarity. In their reading, this is the involvement of partners in all sorts of nonsense. The bloc “stick” discipline established within NATO does not just imply the “involvement of allies and partners” in what is complete nonsense, but is also the very essence of the entire “Euro-Atlantic solidarity”. Under a far-fetched pretext (sometimes because of the alleged “poisoning”, as they say, with a chemical warfare agent (the Skripals, A.A. Navalny) – no one understands what really happened, then because of “interference” in internal affairs – remember all these allegedly Kremlin bots, interference in elections, etc.), Russian diplomats were expelled from European capitals. Remember that? We remember. Washington actually dictated, imposing its will on “allies and partners.” He did it just under invented, false pretexts. How many years have passed since the “poisoning” of the Skripals? Where are they? What happened there? Where is the investigation? There was none of that. But there were “consultations” with “allies and partners”, who were forced to make unnecessary and unprofitable decisions for themselves – to expel diplomats, receiving a reaction from the Russian side in response. None of the “allies and partners” even held the materials in their hands as to the grounds on which Washington made the relevant conclusions. It is also true that Washington and London are one Anglo-Saxon “bundle”.
Let’s take a look at what’s going on with regard to our country. Regarding “absurdity and nonsense,” as the State Department says through the mouth of Nicolas Price.
Twenty years ago, US Secretary of State Catherine Powell brought a test tube with a certain substance to the UN Security Council and called on all allies and partners to start hostilities against a sovereign state without any reason. Then these calls turned out to be complete nonsense. A question for Nikolai Price (I am not asking about the history of the United States, but I do not stutter about international relations at all): do you know the history of your department? Twenty years is not such a long time to forget how, under the pretext of complete nonsense, you forced your “allies and partners” to start wars on other continents.
Sometimes the US involves its “allies and partners” without even asking for their permission, in absurd situations. Let’s recall how employees of the US National Security Agency tapped Angela Merkel’s phone. The world learned about this thanks to the information of E. Snowden. The American “wiretapping” under an absolutely absurd pretext was conducted from 2002 to 2013. Washington, like an octopus, launched its tentacles into the internal affairs of “allies and partners”. We can clearly see this now, when, under pressure from the United States, the Europeans are making frank and unfavorable decisions for themselves from all sides, significantly worsening the lives of their citizens and the situation on the continent as a whole, acting at the global level in the interests of the United States of America.
I want to move directly from “allies and partners”, as N. Price says, to “complete nonsense” regarding the involvement of the United States in undermining civilian infrastructure. There is no doubt that the history of their country in the US State Department is poorly known. That’s why we’re here.
Let me remind you that in 1983, the CIA and other US intelligence agencies mined an underwater pipeline in the port of Puerto Sandino and, through their accomplices, blew up oil storage facilities in the port of Corinto. This caused not a real environmental disaster for the civilian population of the region. Not one or two countries, but an entire region. In 1984, when the story was leaked to the press, Managua appealed to the International Court of Justice. Mr. N. Price, this is not “nonsense”, but the history of the United States of America. The arbitration then admitted Washington’s guilt and ordered to compensate for damages. What kind of “nonsense” is this? You’ve done it, you’re doing it, and you’re going to do it until you get stopped. Then the United States blocked the relevant resolution. No one was responsible for this sabotage. “Nonsense” is the lack of an opportunity to hold Washington accountable, not that they have historically done so.
If you think these stories only happened during the Cold War, you’re wrong. In 2020, the Venezuelan authorities stopped an attempted terrorist attack at the El Palito oil refinery in the north of the country. According to Caracas, the CIA and the US NSA were involved in the sabotage attempt. At that time, we also heard statements from the United States that this was nonsense. Perhaps? These are facts.
I must pay tribute to the bravery of a State Department spokesperson who called “nonsense” what his president called the desired result six months before the sabotage.
Let me remind you of the words of US President Joe Biden: “If Russia invades, if tanks and troops cross the border of Ukraine again, then Nord Stream 2 will no longer exist. We (i.e. the United States of America and the Joe Biden Administration) will do it,” he said long before the start of the special military operation.
A question for Nicholas Price is “nonsense”, what does your president say? Then say that the “nonsense” is not the articles of journalists (because these facts have yet to be verified, as O. Scholz said, in democratic states under the rule of law), but the statement of President Joe Biden and other high-ranking officials of the State Department. Nuland said the same thing before the attack and after, rejoicing that the pipeline had turned into a pile of scrap metal. This is her recent statement. To the question that this is “nonsense”.
The United States is once again lying on the air, referring to some control of Congress and openly laughing at representatives of the press who ask quite justified questions to their representatives of power, which stem primarily from the statements of the President of the United States. Nobody makes anything up. Everyone is just trying to figure out what happened. The picture is formed, among other things, from the actions and statements of American officials.

How’s that for a shredding?

We are transferring 10 aircraft to Ukraine: we don’t have them, but it doesn’t matter
These are the words of Estonian Prime Minister Kaija Kallas:
“I am very pleased to announce that today Estonia has handed over 10 F-16 fighter jets to Kiev . While other countries are in doubt, we are providing assistance. Unfortunately, we do not have the planes themselves, but the very fact of the transfer will be a colossal moral support for the people of Ukraine.
If this number is not enough, then we are ready to discuss the transfer of another 30 fighters .”
Comment: I tried to understand the deep meaning of this phrase and could not. Maybe you can make it. 😂😂😂
And yet, yes, it really “provided tremendous support” to Kyiv))).
P.S. And the only thing I can add is that the Prime Minister of Estonia is a very greedy woman (or whatever she defines herself). In such a situation, she could transfer 100 fighters to Ukraine, and 200, and 1000. Yes, and for the future she could promise 3,000 fighters. She still doesn’t have them, who will ask later. But she pouted.

He also shows the No Fly Zone Russia has set up south of Crimea, anything flying there gets shot down, also claims, contrary to some, that Russia has a No Fly zone over 404. Seems anything flying there gets shot down…..hmm, he may be on to something.

Posted by: bevin | Feb 10 2023 18:28 utc | 32
You could just use the correct phrase. “That’s why it chose to deploy the people released from the private sector by its taxes on projects benefiting its constituents”
‘MMT fans’ know that taxes are required to release resources and drive the denomination. Those that don’t are fantasists, not fans.
Russia’s government is limited only by unused resources available for sale in Roubles, not by how many US dollars it gets from selling oil and gas to the West. It could pour its excess oil in the Black Sea and still have the same capacity to prosecute the current war. That’s the key finding from looking at things via the MMT lens.

Listening to the Crosstalk show with Larry Johnson, Gilbert Doctorow and Ray McGovern.
Doctorow is nothing but irritating, as usual. I frequently attacked his articles on Antiwar.com because he’s always weak on Russia achieving its security goals. He claims on Crosstalk that Russian talk shows are discussing the “Korean option” seriously and he also claims if Russia stops after securing Donbass that it has achieved one of its “two goals” while the the security treaty proposals are a “pure goal.”
McGovern thinks Putin would prefer to stop at the Dnieper.
Both of them just don’t get it.
Larry is the only one who understands none of this is going to work.

Your Question:
“Do East Germans think those in West Germany were denazified as the partition treaty stipulated? Thanks again!”
“Do the East Germans believe that the West Germans were denazified, as the Partition Treaty stipulated? Thanks again!”
I can answer your question only for my generation (40s to 60s). And there the answer is 100% No. Judges, prosecutors, members of the Bundestag, community leaders, press, etc. in the FRG were interspersed with Old Nazis. And they have certainly given their children something from this dark time. When I look at news programs in Germany today, there is consistently only news from the filthy part of Kiev. All lies are taken over 1:1. And that says more about the condition of the heads in the social superstructure: They are NAZI-affinitive. They try to inoculate the hatred of everything Russian into the heads as in Hitler’s times – with 55-70% success.
Best regards and keep it up!

I have to disagree with your point 2.
An article by Hersh, especially one so sensational, is not easily disregarded, as the White House and international press have already shown.
And it provides a moderately-detailed picture affording multiple opportunities for disproof by real investigation (as opposed to the Baltic Coverup, so odorous of MH17).
Leaving aside everything else, it’s an information-war Molotov tossed at a time when the 2014 Regime, support for it, NATO, and the Empire of Lies are tottering.

Most people have never heard of Sy Hersh and his record – and the journalism community hates him because he’s so much better than they are.
The issue is whether the German will bring it up in their Parliament. But we’ve already seen where that goes: nowhere. See the report elsewhere in this thread about the German debate on the subject. It’s a joke.
Escobar says the German business community is starting to look at getting rid of the current German administration – but that will take years.
Can we expect the US Congress to raise a stink, being cut out of the oversight? Well, the Democrats certainly won’t. We’ve so far heard from one – count ’em – one Republican on the issue. Maybe it will be brought up over these bills to stop support for Ukraine – but I doubt it.
Nope, this is going nowhere. It will be old news by Monday. As long as the mainstream media ignores it, no one will care or be able to do anything about it.

ridiculous generalisations about the English. Connolly was referring to the voting people, a tiny minority.
At times more troops were used against the general population than against Napoleon

They suffered massive bombing in ww2.
The English people are not their government, that is not how ‘democracy’ works.

Looks like Ben Wallace spilled the beans, not that anyone could realistically claim to be surprised. He said UK won’t give Ukraine fighters till war is over. The game plan is to wait it out and use rump Ukraine later newly armed.
That means that the anti-terrorist operation should go on same rails as in Syria, gradual removal of nazi factions and pushing some parts of them into Lvov or whatever oblast, like Idlib in Syria. It can last for 5 years, but the organized resistance should be removed much, much earlier turning into sporadic terror resistance.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 PMC Wagner took the northern suburbs of Artemovsk and the villages of Paroskovievka and Krasnaya Gora into operational encirclement.
In the early morning, the same fighters of the PMC Wagner that took Blahodatne, after their recent large breakthrough from the Soledar Direction, launched an offensive operation and operationally encircled the villages of Paraskovivka and Krasnaya Gora and cutting off all supplies routes. This was confirmed by the PMC Wagner Mapping, other Pro-Russian Sources, and a member of an artillery unit of the 108th Guards Kuban Cossack Air Assault Regiment of the Russian Federation.
This means that 6 groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now trapped within these villages. These battalions include the:
– 115th Seperate Mechanized Brigade
– 57th Motorized Brigade
– 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade
– 17th Tank Brigade
– 23rd Guards Battalion “Legion D” (Special Operations)

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 The total amount of operationally encircled troops is between 1,200 and 4,000. It is still possible for them to retreat through fields, however, any withdrawal movement will be complicated due to our artillery dominating the heights. Our observers see everything. I have no doubts that some will survive and retreat, but still very little when it comes to the true number.

@Karlof1
I support Oberbayer’s view. Kurt Georg Kiesinger even became chancellor. As the proverb goes: The fish stinks from the head.
German Wiki has a list of NSDAP members who were politically active in the Federal Republic of Germany after 1945. It is safe to say that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
For example, there are civil servants (teachers,…), industrial leaders,…etc. And judges. Reading sample, article III here (my translation): “The return of compromised Nazi lawyers in the 1950s”. – While members of the KPD (communist party) were prohibited by the “Radikalenerlass” to work as teacher, engine driver, even postman…, Nazis were (as opposed to East Germany) kept by the school system. Reading sample (my translation) “My Teacher was Nazi. Nevertheless, he was allowed to return to teaching. Like most educators.”

Re: Denazification in Germany
The denazification process was fairly rigorous. The process seeker to differentiate between hard-core-true-believers and fellow travelers. ( aka – a school teacher who joined to keep her job ) Note, the various occupation armies oversaw and guided the process. It’s wasn’t perfect by any means but was about as good as one could expect.
There was a lot of effort exerted and plenty of hand wringing during the de-nazification process era to try and weed out the really bad apples. Lots of contemporary material on the topic written in the late 1940s and 1950s. Before leaping to conclusions, might be illuminating to re-visit those writings.

In-depth Helmer article on the Hersh report’s assumptions and weak proofs.
Posted by: daffyDuct | Feb 11 2023 1:46 utc | 166
Helmar’s rant suffers from the same problem that all other media around suffer from: Hersh may only have one source.
Everybody else has one source less than Hersh. Which puts him in the lead. And the fact that the entire world – media and governments – feel the need to analyse and react to a blog post on an obscure web site shows that, despite of what they say publicly, all those now throwing out their opinions based on nothing more than hot air are fully aware that the best information out in the public is Hersh’s piece.
Deal with the fact that you may have to say goodbye to those conspiracy theories that you have cooked up and gotten used to, Helmer and Co.
And maybe take a few days off and reflect on what good journalism is about. Things like investigating and separating facts from opinion.
And about talking to all sides before publishing. Hersh offered the White House and the CIA the opportunity to present their side. Did Helmer, did any of the other “journalists” talk to Hersh before publishing their opinions?

The Erdogan factor:
Erdogan has taken an ‘independent’ line on the SMO …. to the annoyance of US/NATO and the great appreciation of RF. The personal bond between Erdogan and Putin is clear … and may, may not, relate to the phone calls which saved Erdogan during the attempted coup some years ago.
Clearly the US is ‘annoyed’ with Erdogan … so as Erdogan under clear and pressing pressure in the upcoming elections due to perception of millions devastated by the earthquake – one may expect the US to be scouting around for a more pliable alternative and acting accordingly for a little ‘regime change’.
Were this to succeed it will impact on the geopolitical dynamic in the region re the SMO, re Idlib, re Syria, re Israel, re Iran,re Armenia/Azerbijan and possibly re the Kurds who may avoid the usual pre-Turkish election hammering. This whole region is unstable … and not just its tectonic plates.

We need to hear more from Oberbayer and his ilk.
The Wessis were propagandized with guilt for a generation when the true perpetrators were Churchill and Roosevelt. Certainly the Nazis were wicked and deserved what they got. But the propaganda during covid shows we´re no different from the Germans and that the propaganda they endured during a decade of Goebbels would have done precisely the same to us.
The Ossis, by contrast, had simply lost the war and Stalin with no pretensions to virtue, just ruled an occupied country and imposed his doctrine of communism which was egalitarian even if tyrannical.
The Ossis thus emerged in 1989 as psychologically far less damaged than the Wessis despite the economic calamity that befell the Ossis with the Wessis´ takeover.
You´d think Berlin, in the DDR, would be telling the Bundestag to get real. Germany could do with a bit of Prussian reality again instead of the craven, virtue-signalling hypocrites currently in charge.

What the Americans say

SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service, which has provided Ukraine’s military with broadband communications in its defense against Russia’s military, was “never never meant to be weaponized,” Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX’s president and chief operating officer, said during a conference in Washington, D.C.
“However, Ukrainians have leveraged it in ways that were unintentional and not part of any agreement,” she said. (Reuters)

What really happened:
A new Russian system, Borschevik, detects nearby active Starlink terminals, and provides the coordinates of the Starlink terminal. You then feed these coordinates in an artillery computer, and as soon as a Starlink terminal goes active, it gets incoming.

Exile | Feb 11 2023 9:27 utc | 253 Denazification in Germany
“…was about as good as one could expect…”. Depends on which view shaped your expectations. My father, a teacher, re-admitted into East German service, was dismissed in 1954, after my brother had played a few tunes of the old (and new in West Germany) national anthem (melody by Joseph Haydn, 1796) on his violin during a school orchestra rehearsal break; Brother was barred from high-school exam. (Both fled to the West thereafter). One can dispute such rigorous proceeding and call it arbitrary overreaction, yet it shows an attitude. Which I, in hindsight, consider more expedient than Western lenience on the subject. Expectations differ. Results accordingly. – Between hardline activists and “fellow travelers” is a narrow ridge to walk. After the 1989 re-unification many of the latter East Germans were called “wrynecks” and -not surprisingly- subject of uncountable attemps of keeping them banned from public service.
To refute your myth of “fellow travellers” suffice just two examples (machine translation) about the German equivalents of the MI5 and MI6 -> source1 and source2

Walter Odewald was a man of the Third Reich. He was SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer and at the same time Employee of the National Socialist secret service Gestapo. In occupied France he was among other things responsible for the destruction of the old port area in Marseille. 800 people were arrested and deported to concentration camps. In the new Federal Republic, Odewald was able to build on his professional experience. In the In the 1950s he made it to head of the Federal Intelligence Agency in Hanover Branch of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

…scandal: only 68 years after the end of the war is a historian allowed to study Adolf Eichmann’s complete file. Apparently, the BND was interested in keeping the Nazi criminal’s escape story a secret…Some of the men who later built up the Gehlen organization and then the BND had previously worked in the Reich Security Main Office… The commission of historians is currently determining the precise number and biographies of the persons incriminated. “So far it’s clear that there were a few…possibly even a lot.” The Reich Security Main Office was the terror center of the “Third Reich”. It was here that bureaucrats organized the Holocaust…

I don’t think article 5 really “exists”. In the real world, if US thinks its tough enough to attack Russia, they will simply make up any excuse fulfilling the illusionary requirements of article 5. They have had ample opportunities already, like the S-300 missile in the Polish farm, and the claims of Kalibr-missiles flying in Romania (both invented of course). They didn’t grab onto those excuses, but worked to thereafter mitigate them through MSM.

Thank you for this glimpse into the level of debate in the German parliament on such a crucial matter as sabotage of major European infrastructure.
The level of discussion is beyond low, intellectually, logically, politically and morally – as expected. It can not be otherwise at a time wholesale decline and rot in the socio-political model in Germany and the trans Atlantic area. The same decline and rot is obvious in all EU and European states, as well as in the US and its Asian “eyes”. As I wrote a long time ago here, at such an advanced state of decay of system and society you will have only negative selection in public office. And there is no bottom, unless a radical change occurs.
The Hersh piece will not lead to any change, let alone a radical one, because the deeply sick western societies are not looking for a cure as they are incapable of it. A lot has been, and is written about the causes, in the literature as well as in the remaining free public space, including genuine journalism.
The Hersh piece as truth, however, corodes the lies, present and future. It wont go away. As all his reporting, its significance will increase with time.
I am deeply concerned with Germany, just based on what is publicly available. But I am not going to shed a tear for Germany, or the Germans. Or any other Europeans, Americans or westerners in general. There are no excuses for what their media and governments are doing. These governments and media did not fall from the sky, they reflect the reality of Europe, Europeans and their societies. Facts and the truth are available to them more than to most of the rest of the globe. They just don’t look for them.
Here’s a nice quote:
You cannot play with the animal in you without becoming wholly animal, play with falsehood without forfeiting your right to truth, play with cruelty without losing your sensitivity of mind. He who wants to keep his garden tidy does not reserve a plot for weeds

Yes, I agree that is much more plausible. Musk doesn’t have any noble principles that I can detect.

Here’s the Amerikastani Conservative reluctantly acknowledging that Ukranazistan is lying about its casualties, but insinuating that Russia is too:

@ Dalit, §182:
Yup, that buoy would be a real smoking gun.
And yes, the British are much more likely culprits than the Norwegians.
The British have been leading the charge from the beginning in this war against Russia.
So it´s quite likely Hersh´s source muddied the water (at the request, via the CIA, of the British).
And the British will certainly have “taken care of” the buoy . . .

@John Marsh 286
That Hersh doesn’t even mention Liz Truss’ message about the pipeline blasts is pretty much proof that everything he wrote is a limited hangout, with blame deflected on Bidet while the actual culprits are shielded.

Down South
Good luck mounting a weapon with the recoil energy of a Bofors on a vehicle with civilian suspension. Maybe the plan is to fire a full clip and engage ground and air targets together! The ZSU’s they had would have been far more effective in a ground role.

Thanks for that.
That woman must be a zombie.
If, as you say, most western politicians are like that, the sooner the Russians win, the better for all of us.
Australia is clearly dead in the water.

Translated from Intercept (Z), TG.

The deputy head of the presidential office, Igor Zhovkva, in a conversation with Bloomberg noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ stock of weapons was “almost at zero. And he asked the West to help with this problem, at the same time demanding long-range artillery, tanks and fighter jets.
It should be noted that the acute shortage of weapons affects the conduct of combat – this shortage is often catastrophic.
For example, former Rada deputy Igor Lutsenko reported that the 30th AFU brigade stationed in Bakhmut is abandoning its positions because soldiers do not even have ammunition for Kalashnikov rifles. This means that they simply have nothing to fight with.
Things are also bad with artillery shells. If earlier there was a shortage of shells for Soviet-made guns, now there is also a shortage of 155 mm shells used by Western-made guns – military-industrial enterprises in Europe, and the United States, cannot keep up with the “rapidity” of Ukrainian artillery, not producing shells in such quantities that the AFU needs now.

# 283 a sobering and distopian picture. We have impoverished our existence with these low life politicians. Fortunately things do turn, sometimes slowly like this conflict. Change for sure is the constant along with repetition. One of your lines is similar to a German philosophers. When fighting a monster make sure you don’t become a monster yourself. And when you stare into the abyss the abyss stares back at you.

Foreigners (mercs, paramilitaries, NATO chameleons, Russophobe dipshits) have been the decisive force propping up the UA end of SMO from the outset. It’s so bad now that conscripts may as well be marching into an old school concentration camp.
The Azovstal siege demonstrated that there’s no point risking RF forces to capture these foreign protagonists. As prisoners they become a kind of liability and the ones that know anything of high value will be chopped up and incinerated before RF can get them.
Every assclown that’s allowed to slip the net could be killing Russians 24 hours later. If they want to surrender safely then fine, otherwise just artillery them.
