Musk Provides Twitter Censorship Files
In October 2020 the New York Post published private porn and business details it had retrieved from Hunter Biden's laptop. Emails found on it proved that Joe Biden, despite his claims otherwise, had manipulated the Ukrainian government in service of the gas company Burisma, which was paying his son's company for such lobbying.
The librul media and the Democratic party launched a censorship and denial campaign to suppress the news about the laptop. They called it 'Russian disinformation'. A court later verified that the content of the laptop was genuine.
When the story broke Twitter prominently prohibited and suppressed all links to the New York Post story.
Elon Musk, who has recently bought Twitter, has given the relevant internal Twitter communication to muckraker Matt Taibbi who then tweeted the story:
Matt Taibbi @mtaibbi - 11:34 UTC · Dec 3, 20221. Thread: THE TWITTER FILES
3. The “Twitter Files” tell an incredible story from inside one of the world’s largest and most influential social media platforms. It is a Frankensteinian tale of a human-built mechanism grown out the control of its designer.
...
5. In an early conception, Twitter more than lived up to its mission statement, giving people “the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers.”6. As time progressed, however, the company was slowly forced to add those barriers. Some of the first tools for controlling speech were designed to combat the likes of spam and financial fraudsters.
...
8. By 2020, requests from connected actors to delete tweets were routine. One executive would write to another: “More to review from the Biden team.” The reply would come back: “Handled.”
...
11. This system wasn't balanced. It was based on contacts. Because Twitter was and is overwhelmingly staffed by people of one political orientation, there were more channels, more ways to complain, open to the left (well, Democrats) than the right. opensecrets.org/orgs/twitter/
...
18. Twitter took extraordinary steps to suppress the [Hunter Biden laptop] story, removing links and posting warnings that it may be “unsafe.” They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g. child pornography.
...
23. The decision was made at the highest levels of the company, but without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey, with former head of legal, policy and trust Vijaya Gadde playing a key role.24. “They just freelanced it,” is how one former employee characterized the decision. “Hacking was the excuse, but within a few hours, pretty much everyone realized that wasn’t going to hold. But no one had the guts to reverse it.”
25. You can see the confusion in the following lengthy exchange, which ends up including Gadde and former Trust and safety chief Yoel Roth. Comms official Trenton Kennedy writes, “I'm struggling to understand the policy basis for marking this as unsafe”: Image
26. By this point “everyone knew this was fucked,” said one former employee, but the response was essentially to err on the side of… continuing to err.
...
An amazing subplot of the Twitter/Hunter Biden laptop affair was how much was done without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey, and how long it took for the situation to get "unfucked" (as one ex-employee put it) even after Dorsey jumped in.
Before the election Biden's election gang was colluding with Twitter to suppress bad news about Biden and positive new about Trump. They continued to heavily influence Twitter and Facebook after the election was over. The one sided news about Ukraine in the media and online is part of this.
The Intercept also censored its reporting about the laptop and Biden's corruption. Glenn Greenwald resigned over it. Other companies from the Democrat aligned tech circus joined in and librul media ignored or obfuscated the story.
Laying out the laptop story in full would probably have cost Joe Biden the presidency. The media censorship was thus a direct intervention in the election process.
Taibbi will report more on that story. Musk has fired the people at Twitter who took that decision.
The libruls now fear to lose the tool of partisan censorship they had with Twitter. Elon Musk's involvement has led to a campaign by librul media against a presumed new 'lack of censorship' by Twitter:
Hate Speech’s Rise on Twitter Is Unprecedented, Researchers Find - New York Times
Slurs against gay men appeared on Twitter 2,506 times a day on average before Mr. Musk took over. Afterward, their use rose to 3,964 times a day.And antisemitic posts referring to Jews or Judaism soared more than 61 percent in the two weeks after Mr. Musk acquired the site.
These findings — from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, the Anti-Defamation League and other groups that study online platforms — provide the most comprehensive picture to date of how conversations on Twitter have changed since Mr. Musk completed his $44 billion deal for the company in late October. While the numbers are relatively small, researchers said the increases were atypically high.
Twitter processes roughly 500 million tweets per day. The slurs against gay men have thus increased from 0.0005% to 0.0008% of all tweets. They are just white background noise that decreases or increases with the news or weather of the day. Even at a higher rate such tweets would not be a problem. One does not have to follow those who issues the slurs and one can block them from ones timeline.
The Times only launched the story to regain the Democrats' control of the censoring instrument that Twitter had become.
Glenn Greenwald @ggreenwald - 21:12 UTC · Dec 3, 2022The sleazy, pro-censorship pack of liberal employees of media corporations united last night to attack @mtaibbi -- as they do to any journalist who breaks a real story about real power centers -- and, because they were so desperate to discredit it, showed what they are. Watch: ...
Biden's election proved the usefulness of such a tool. The campaign against Musk's Twitter will thereby likely intensify. So will his effort to fight back.
More popcorn please.

Calling Matt Taibbi a "muckracker" is scandalously ill informed. He is one of the best independent journalists in the US. Check out his substack.
He is the one who wrote (while at Rolling Stone) the definitive takedown of the corrupt US banking / political system after the 2008 morgage loan / housing crisis: "The world's most powerful investment bank [Goldman Sachs] is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money." (Although in fairness to Matt, he wishes people would move on from the "vampire squid" phrase!)
Seriously, check out his work.

I read today - on Twitter, of course - that actor James Woods had one of his tweets censored on orders from the Biden team, apparently, and he plans to sue the DNC over it.
Yesterday:
BREAKING: James Woods just went NUCLEAR on Tucker Carlson's Show.Announces he is SUING the DNC. He said "I'm coming for you".
Just today:

Agree. How would you like to fund a class action suit for those who were suppressed? I’ll be happy to be lead plaintiff. Thank you, @elonmusk

Do not be fooled. This is a limited hangout
To know more about what that is, here's the video from redacted.
Limited Hangout and Laundering of Censorship
In short, a limited hangout is limited revelations of a broader truth so the public stops asking questions, while that broader truth is still hidden from the public.
The most important question that came to my mind about the "Twitter Files" limited hangout is, why was Twitter taking orders from the DNC in the first place? What's in it for them?
Well, we didn't get to hear THAT part, did we?
The rabbit hole is far deeper than it seems.
Don't be fooled by limited hangouts. Keep asking questions.

It's a slow process where factual veracity begins to dawn for those who listen to wealthy quacks like Gates and Zuckerberg. The attempt to find some vestiges of their former narrative to be still "true" is strong, but is increasingly difficult as conspiracy "theory" becomes conspiracy FACT.
Science/truth is funny like that, eventually the facts come out. Autocrats since Copernicus and Da Vinci have struggled to square science with their "narrative". But if one looks outside "dark ages" Europe, most other civilizations had a much more realistic view of things from a much earlier date.
And I'm sure many here still view me as some sort of crackpot. Fine, but it will be interesting to see them all fulfill Schopenhauer's 3rd dictum of truth: "It is accepted as self-evident".
But many MoA posters, whether paid or true believers, are stuck in the a loop of 1)violently opposing and 2)ridiculing what inevitably will turn out to be true.
But they think that if they keep looping phases 1 and 2 long enough, that the audience won't notice they skipped admitting 3) self evident about info that was self evident FROM THE BEGINNING.

I agree that Taibbi has a pretty good record record on many issues. But he is pretty bad when it comes to Russia. He
began his career while living in St Petersburg in the 1990s. He witnessed the terrible corruption that characterized the Yeltsin years and has always considered Putin as one of the crooks. Matt is a big supporter of Pussyriot and backs their campaign against modern Russia. Today he hasn't said too much about Ukraine but he has in recent months attacked the current Russian government. I think he is losing readers because of this, at least among those on the real left.

I wonder if there are Brock-like funds to go after the likes of Taiibi too.
——
David Brock, Clintons agitprop man, zeroes in to rescue the Bidens VOLTAIRE NETWORK | 2 DECEMBER 2022David Brock, the Clintons’ henchman who left the limelight after suffering a heart attack, is back. During the next two years, at the helm Facts First USA, he will have 10 million dollars at his disposal to discredit congressional investigators who will try to shed light on the Hunter Biden affair.
In February 2017, Thierry Meyssan had revealed the means and the campaign deployed by David Brock against Donald Trump [1]. The aim was to disparage the president-elect, even before he moved into the White House, by portraying him as a white supremacist under Russian influence. This gigantic international campaign was partially successful, giving rise to two Congressional procedures to impeach his target.
David Brock’s method is a very dangerous one: by accumulating the charges, which are in general totally fabricated, the Clintons intend to cast suspicion on the people who are likely to destabilize President Biden, regardless of who they are. Their game may ultimately undermine the authority of institutions without anyone being able to restore them. It is in this way that the German socialists themselves destroyed the Weimar Republic (1918-33) in the belief that they were protecting it, thus paving the way for Nazism.

Too clever by half. It will keep the truth-driven justice-believers appeased without losing much core support by folks who deem it irrelevant. And they would both be right...too little, too late. The truth-agnostic ambitious-agenda folks know it works every time. Those who care are carefully quarantined into small ineffectual niches. The vigor of these groups is gradually lost in a quagmire of false righteousness that always self destructs.

Do not ascribe any motive to Twitter events other than Musk acting out like the petulant narcissist that he is.
Investment banks still hold tens of billions of dollars underwater in Twitter debt from doing the Musk deal. Debt that they would like to resell but can't at the current discount.

"But there will likely not be any real consequences." Norwegian@18
There will be consequences, that much is very clear. What they are, though, is less easy to discern.
The corruption in Ukraine, is the key story.
Essentially the world is on the brink of nuclear war because Joe Biden, having persuaded Obama to hand him responsibility, used his power to help his son get rich and make money himself. The recent crypto exchange bust is obviously related- all chances of Maidan leading anywhere but down into fascism were lost because the Biden supported oligarchs were confirmed in their power and protected from corruption charges.
It might easily have been quite different. Between them the Russian speaking regions and the remnants of Ukraine's socialist and communist traditions were well placed to exert influence after 2015. The influence of outlier Galicia was marginal, as the Presidential election results showed. But Biden's influence, US influence, enabled the fascists to fill a power vacuum in Kiev.
It is a long story but the extent of the Democrats corruption is being confirmed : it is what you would expect from a political culture that goes back to the Clintons, throws up (vomits) candidates like Delaware Joe and tells the world that it is a private club and makes its own rules.
It always was, from Day One.
Well done Elon-Queens University is proud of you.

Although Attourney General (and Senator elect) of Missouri, Eric Schmitt took an affidavit from an FBI agent last week which indicates censorship.
https://twitter.com/Eric_Schmitt/status/1598733922044710916
"Chan stated that the FBI regularly sent social media companies lists of URLs and social media accounts that should be taken down because they were disinformation from “malign foreign influence operations.” The FBI then inquired whether the platforms have taken down the content.
"On many occasions, the platforms took down the accounts flagged by the FBI."

this is hardly a revelation, though. everyone who wasn't a gaping hole filled with MSM poo knew the laptop was real and that it was openly supressed. the real question this and other events have raised is: why does anyone give a shit about twitter and why are there so few social media sites to choose from?
we have 8,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 streaming services (that people have to pay for) yet for the internet it's the old folks' home of GramGramandNanaBook or the ghetto of twitter. rumble and other "free speech" (as in: say "n_ggers" and not get banned) outlets are too niche and only appeal to the types who take jordan peterson seriously.

Every major US investigation is carefully staged to only hit targets of 1 political party. Very few will go to jail. Republicans will believe that this 100% proves that democrats are the enemy of the US, and democrats will consider it a bunch of crap.

I want to believe but … am not convinced yet.
It smacks of Limited Hangout.
The collusion includes Facebook.
The CEO’s can’t be given a free pass.
They are mates with Elon.
The 5+1 eyes spooks and software is central to it.
It isn’t just some politics - the DNC are not leftist in ANY way; they are the other cheek of the neocon arse and they are responsible for the diarrhoea that has emanate upon the world since the turn of the century from the shithole they share.
Yeah Trump was plastered with that crap and disappeared from view.
Before that so was Assange, still is with fake rape charges, who is the greatest political prisoner of the Wicked Western Empire in the Heart of Empires City of London not far from the grand palaces of the praetorians who guard the Ancient City. Overseen now by the new built citadel of the west the US Embassy from which full control of the local government in Whitehall is handled.
The helms are NSA and GCHQ and Mossad.
Ask Snowden - he spilled and lives.
Others are not so lucky.
What might convince me ? Here is a list from the U.K. that Elon should equally release the details on going back to let’s say 2014. You know while the Maidan was being fermented.
1. Scottish Indy Ref
2. BrexShit referendum
3. Dominic Cummings involvement in both
4. The 2017 ‘snap’ general election
5. The 2019 general election
6. The social media campaigns and secret manipulations against Corbynites from 2016 onwards in 4 & 5.
7. CIA:Pompeo’s Gauntlet in 6. MI6/gchq DeeDee’s ‘threatens all our plans’ edict for the outcome in 6. The use of Postal Votes in all of the above.
8. Mafsud, Steele, Miller, DeBretton, Le Mesurier, various TV and print presstitute spooks, Mason, Keuenssberg, etc
9. Their projects, Skripal, White Helmets, false flag attacks in Syria, attack against the massive popular grass roots of the reenergised Labour Party, integrity initiatives.
77th on YOUR team.
& finally non U.K.
10. SARSCov2, vax everyone, Nazis of Ukraine causing the new breakaway and separated of the Collective Waste Slaves from the RoW. And of course postal votes in the US.
So Rocket Man, Truth Seeker, or just another Ancients Grifter, Elon, prove the talk, why are you still banning Spriter and Nixon etc, and not demanding Assange’s release with proof of conspiracy against him and all honest real journalism, many of whom have been illegally jailed just like current social media continued persecution.
Salacious but true reveals may be great but that doesn’t change a thing right now does it?
Doesn’t mount up to a hill of beans does it kiddo?
I’m looking at you Elon Mighty, same initials as that other petite roi Manny, show me the walk, not just the talk. Then I might just start to believe.

CIA makes the story, then
Mass Media reports the story, then
Social Media amplifies the story and censors and shouts down opposing viewpoints.
Always knew this (esp re: Ukraine with the "two days to take Kiev" psy-op) but somewhat glad to see it verified.
But why do this now?
Is this a last-minute attempt to give the system some legitimacy?
I think it's too little, too late since it will shock anyone who still has faith in the system and confirm what those on the outside have been saying the whole time.

Billionaires like to own a social network because ownership of a social network allows you to offer political services. Politicians will owe you favors.
A social network losing money is the price a billionaire pays to keep the little folk from owning a social network.
For older generations, you could replace "social network" with "tv station", "radio station" or "newspaper".

Ukraine with the "two days to take Kiev" psy-op
Posted by: Tom | Dec 3 2022 19:42 utc
HUH? Russia had and still has the military capability to do it in two days.
But that wouldn't bring the US/ZATO to its knees by their own actions.
Could it be that the US/ZATO ACTUAL planners saw that after 8 years of attacking Ukraine's eastern republics, they were not going to crack. Other events/machinations in preparation for the Great Reset Coup were moving along, so the Ukraine issue for weakening Russia had to be implemented, ready or not. Those 2030 and 2035 deadlines weren't going to be realized if Russia and the republics merely stood their ground.
So Zelenski's handlers OK'ed the (probably nonsense) rhetoric of Ukraine attacking Donbass and Russia with dirty bombs. The US/ZATO knew Putin could not allow that nuke-noise and the obvious buildup for invasion of the republics to pass unanswered. Congrats, they forced Putin's hand.
But what they wanted WAS for Russia to seize Kiev (not necessarily all of Ukraine) in 2 days... easy-peasy, Russia BAD BAD BAD already in the MSM "to be published" file. US/ZATO and the MSM-echochamber woudl convince the world that Russia has started WW3, casus belli to attack Russia from any vector using US/ZATO military.
But now, months later, the EU AND the US are tanking from the idiotic sanctions and ZATO nations are running out of obsolete military crap to send. The time/supply lines for new replacement weapons for the ZATO countries that sent their old stuff to the Ukie-nazis grows longer by the day. Let alone the knowledge that even new stuff for the Ukie-nazis would have an active duty life in days or weeks. Assuming it didn't end up on the black market to haunt ZATO in other war zones.
Nope, the fake run towards Kiev was a masterstroke, both showing the US/ZATO that Russia could if it needed to, but also that it probably wouldn't in any short timeframe.
Again, never interrupt your opponent when they are making a mistake.

Muckraker? (Britain, derogatory) A sensationalist, scandal mongering journalist, one who is not driven by any social principles. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/muckraker
I hope that wasn't the imputation.
Matt Tabbi is one of the very few who repeatedly, despite malicious public attacks and threats, kept pointing out the truth aka the real facts behind RussiaGate. What does one need to do to be correctly labelled a genuine investigative journalist of high repute and indisputable integrity?
Limited Hangout? Bollocks. The first installment comes before the rest. (shaking my head)
As Putin said: "You ain't seen nothing yet." (sic)
Posted by: SeanAU | Dec 3 2022 22:19 utc | 59
The company man defends the billionaire Musk? Given that I do not think Taibbi has good judgment, I am not impressed by his opinions. Given that I think *most* charges bandied about in the media tend to the melodramatic, sensational and irresponsible to the false, malicious and corrupt, the idea that Trump should be able to whip up a media frenzy on demand strike me as incompetent, if not servile. For that matter, I do not think Twitter suppressed the scandal, which got plenty of airing: It just didn't get the dishonorable play equally dubious charges have in other cases. I tend to think the cause of justice, rather than partisan hackery, are better served by reserving judgment rather than moral panic. Nancy Grace and Judy Sheindlin are moral misleader, not idols to emulate.
The truth was and remains, the laptop was of doubtful provenance and had been in unknown hands for an unknown period and caution in using anything on it was required. To be a story needing immediate airing it was not emails to Hunter by the people he was making promises to, but emails from Joe to Hunter that counted. They didn't exist. The links claiming "proof" are false. The people who provided this so-called proof were people who would lie and say Burisma funded the Atlantic Council with up to "$250 000" a year. That's a lot of money to ordinary people but the people who wrote this know that's not enough to buy much of anything. It hardly covers the bill for one conference! It's a lie to call that Burisma "funding" the Atlantic Council. They even know it's a serious question whether a Vice-President had enough clout in foreign policy to run relations with Ukraine! They're like people discovering
The truth is still, Hunter has been influence peddling for years. The truth is still, the laws are so loose and corrupt there is no evidence Hunter did anything criminally illegal in that respect. And there is even less evidence that Joe did anything formally criminally illegal. There are plenty of conservatives who are so deprived of human feeling and so depraved in their morals they think they have a "right" to pillory a man for not throwing his son under the bus. So, scum don't deserve to demand people agree with them. At least Hunter Biden has a chemically damaged brain to explain what's wrong with him. Carrying on about Hunter lets Joe off the hook for what he does that really is wrong. Endorsing the Federal Reserve's attack on the workers of this country is today's number one, I'd say. The people pushing this want to use politically motivated prosecutions to terrorize all those parents who, unlike conservatives, love their children. These people would never think that the Trump children, part of the shenanigans at Trump Organization, should ever be held to account for their crimes. But the conservative principle, that the more you steal, the more respectable you are, applies. The Trump crime family boasts of hundreds of millions, the Bidens worth what, a measly $10 000 000? How contemptible that is to conservatives! (By the way, the book deals and speaking fees that constitute a good part of this should be considered completely and totally legal...but basically a form of after-the-fact reward for services rendered, just not on an explicit quid-pro-quo, which is the legal standard. I still call it corruption, just as I did when senior Bush raked it in.)
The distorted reporting, the false conclusions, the absurd assumptions, the hysterical exaggerations are all typical of the MSM, albeit the Trumpist variety. The conclusion I draw is that this is pandering to fellow Trumpers as a way to minimize discussion of Ukraine. Why? The most likely explanation is that the author is increasingly worried about the failure of all those rosy projections.

I think there are a few things about this tale that people forget.
1. America had a huge debate about Russian bots on Twitter and social media interfering in elections.
2. Members of both parties threatened to take away the liabilities protection in section 230
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/28/business/section-230-internet-speech.html
3. The Hunter Biden Laptop started to take off right around the tail end of the election. So for every social media site and news site the first question they would ask is - Is this more "fake News" put up by "russia" or some other nefarious players trying to effect the news.
4. The FBI looked into it and said that it was "fake news". Who within the USA is going to go against that?
The incentives are totally skewed at the point this story was taking off, if I was in the News Media business, I wouldn't touch it either; I learned the lesson of the FBI dropping major news right at the tail end of the Hillary/Trump election.
The FBI also learned the same lesson, they were majorly castigated for dropping major news near the tail end (effectively accused of election meddling by FBI).
Social Media Sites learned the same lesson, don't drop major news that might affect the elections, because you would be accused of "election meddling".
Who wants that?

Rupert Murdoch created The Australian, Australia’s only *national* newspaper and he later refuted criticism that it has never at any time in the decades since, made a profit. He said “the quiet part out loud” when rebuked the criticism by acknowledging the publications purpose was to influence and direct public policy (bully politicians and senior bureaucrats). The concessions and control his attack dog editorial policies buys him is worth it.
#Limited Hangout. Yep.
So why? Why now? Why Elon?
Why? A bunch of someones are concerned about the direction the Ukraine imbroglio is heading. Sanctions have boomeranged badly. Companies have been forced out of a lucrative Russian market. Oh, they’ve virtual signalled, but the now permanent loss of a market is showing on balance sheets.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this…. They’d abide by the sanctions, Russia would fold in 3-months, and it’d be “business as usual” by Q4/22.
Those in the know, know Ukraine is Biden hiding his corruption.
So… a significant and powerful cohort has decided Biden Must Go.
Why now? It’s after mid-terms and before any 2024 runs.
With Biden gone.. can HRC become that which she has always listed? The first female President of the United States of America!! The history books only allow for one “first”. Joe can’t be removed midterm as Kamala HeelsUp will have that prize.
Sure, HRC is on the nose like spoiled milk, (or a dog rolled In carrion), but she has powerful backers still. The DNC has pretty much perfected the election fix now.
Why Elon.?
Indeed. I’m old enough to remember when Gates/Jobs were Boy Wonders. Then Zuckerberg. Then @Jack.
Who really is Musk? Who is protecting him?
His Starlink and Internet Of Things is the next iteration towards our Transhuman future. He is as much Global Reset and Agenda 2030 and ID2020 as Schwab. And the WEF global leaders.
The censorship on twitter had removed a sizeable chunk of the “global consciousness”. The true intel guys knew it was skewed (and screwed).
Musk and his backers want everyone to tweet…. They want to read your mind…. ultimately they won’t need twitter to do that……

Here's what I don't get.
We keep having these stories about whether email troves (Clinton, Podesta, Hunter) are genuine and authenticated, or sly disinformation, etc.
This is with National Security and professional journalists involved.
! It is TRIVIAL to AUTHENTICATE any email !
Every email that crosses any commercial relay (gmail, yahoo, ...) gets a DKIM header.
The hash authenticates the email contents, including date/time headers, from/to headers, and the entire body of the message.
If you think you can fake this without having google or yahoo private keys, you have a million dollar career in cryptography waiting for you.
Anybody with a modicum of technical agility can authenticate any email using the public key: not a space or dot can be altered without failing to match the embedded hash (which can only be calculated with the private domain key).

Elon is a narcissist oligarch, and in this case that is a good thing. He has come to the correct conclusion, that despite his wealth, him and his offspring would likely not survive nuclear war.
There is a direct connection between Burisma, the Maiden coup, and the very dangerous situation we currently find ourselves in with Ukraine.

In particular, this short passage from this editorial nailed it:
News in America is never just about the news. As with everything else in the Greatest Country on Earth, news - or what goes by that name - is political. It is a key element of bourgeois propaganda, a means of controlling the masses.

But what do I do with it? Do I organize a strike? a mass demonstration? ...bare minimum, call my congressman? What do I do in my neighborhood? If I don't do anything the stories are just entertainment.
I like Taiibi. ok, he was born rich, certified and stamped with higher caste credentials than me and most peons, partied like a frat boy in Moscow in the 90s while Russia was being devoured, worked for Rolling Stone and dished up the requisite amount of stories that were pretty good but filled with potty mouth language to satisfy his hedonist masters. But he crossed some lines and got pushed out and marginalized by the liberals in his caste and has sincerely tried to do good work while maintaining some kind of living. I read his stuff. I hope he keeps forging down a true muckraker path along with Aaron Mate, Max Blumenthal and a few others. I hope he doesn't sell out to Musk. Bottom line, though... What do I do about it? Maybe grist for GOP congressional investigations but since they’re not interested in rocking the boat too much it probably comes to nothing. The last thing politicians want is to be forced into a situation where they can no longer manipulate media.
But in the bigger picture it’s more erosion of the people having much faith in the government. It’s more grist for the mill of modern American politics which is going the way of impeachment as a political tool. Since we already got one failed color revolution and half the country believes the last two elections have been stolen, this kind of stuff is indicative of growing internal contradictions in a degenerate empire.
It is funny in the way it has Democrats having a collective nervous breakdown. It does likely contribute to the next two years of US politics being a shit show. Just like trump’s call to suspend the constitution to make him president. We’re a loony bin.

In Australia where I've lived all my life it's a universally derogatory term and only by researching it as a result of the comments from people above from people obviously more erudite than me, the alternative US-centric pre-world war one meaning was revealed.
Kudos to this site owner for for his wider understanding of the term. However it's surely the reader's reaction that matters and the pejorative use is most unwelcome, Taibbi has proven himself as deserving better than that.

As you haul China into this thread I will add on: Twitter (and WhatsApp, Facebook, Google, Youtube) has been banned in the PRC since 2009 after the Ürümqi riots.
Still the PRC uses Twitter plenty to send out propaganda to Outside. Jack Dorsey let that happen, Musk is in a tough spot as he has his giga factory 3 in Shanghai.
The Anglo empire is only playing catch up to the PRC: they are jealous of that pit of totalitarianism - 100% control! North Korea is too uncool.

Otherwise, this looks like he was sold exclusive access in exchange for shielding XYZ.
So says the Sesame Street alphabet police.
Please have regard for others!
I have special regard for the poustis in our midst.
There needs to be an investigation

Taibbi should release the raw files....
Why not Twitter?
Hey what we really need is some place where whistleblowers you can upload raw files anonymously, a place who will without fear or favour publish them on the internet in full. We could could name it something like, ummm ..... wikileaks? Oh, hang on a moment isn't there already ....
That's right, they're called spies and national security threats to be locked up without trial and tortured forever now. Everything sounds good in theory. Even revolutions! God Bless America, her cute cotton socks, everyone's right to free speech, and the US Congress!
:-)

I had no idea "muckraker" had negative connotations in some cultures. Learn something new every day!

@97 Depends who is saying it I guess. To some it is a low form of journalism. To others it is an honorable much-needed profession.

ZH has a posing up showing that Greenwald is wading into the fray now
Greenwald Drags MSM Journos For 'Hive-Mind' Hackery Over Taibbi-Twitter Bombshell
The article is mostly tweet links and too tedious for here.
I see Musk as a younger version of Trump and expect he is playing front for some part of the elite at the top....what a shit show....lets hope the Left/Right leadership devours each other so the rest of us can focus on neutering the Top of our Top/Bottom world

Not from where I come. Have some understanding of and respect for other cultures.
The world does not revolve around America nor their dictionaries.
America and Americanism is not the center of the Universe!
Giving lip service to multi-polarity doesn't cut it.
People need to act on it.
Yeah?

If Musk was serious (or actually independent, for that matter), he would have dumped the whole lot and let all of the public sleuths have at it. Instead, he filters it through Taibbi.
Hmmm.
