A reporter in Kherson was cut off on French TV, they lied and said they “lost her,” when she started talking about Ukraine bombing the civilians in Kherson. In the TV channel’s web version, this was cut out.
This censorship was spread widely.
Now check how a search for “french tv cut off reporter Kherson” is treated in DuckDuckGo, Bing, and … Google. Google has removed it from search results.

I am nervous and frustrated watching the Russian conducting the war. They seems to be slow and passive. Currently, they are facing Ukraine attack on Kherson and its intention of blowing the reservoir. Is Russia doing all they can to avoid it? We know that Russia has powerful weapons, why are they not using them to destroy Ukraine army that’s attacking Kherson. Frankly, they are flirting with disaster. They just refuse to take off the gloves in this fight.

Rumors of Ukraine blowing up ammonia lines and blaming it on Russia. Apparently foreign journalists are being sent to the Odessa region to report on it. Journalists that are know to cover big events with evacuations and such. Sounds about right. Gotta take the attention off the ass kicking and dam story. Desperation at its finest.

NATO simp response: the russians suck at fighting and wont move.
More analytic response: the russians dont need to go on the offensive because they retain the vast majority of the territory they seized and the enemy has already vowed to come to them, so there is no reason to go searching for them. Let them bleed to death smashing their heads against the defenses and mop up whatevers left in the spring.

“Is Russia doing all they can to avoid it? We know that Russia has powerful weapons, why are they not using them to destroy Ukraine army that’s attacking Kherson. Frankly, they are flirting with disaster. They just refuse to take off the gloves in this fight.”
Euphemistically speaking, Russian political pedagogy is inward and outward oriented and never completely destructive. This can be seen in the context of open and transparent communication in diplomacy towards all partners as well as in the military willingness to escalate and its implementation through actions.
While the West accompanied each phase of the war with about two levels of escalation, Russia relies on the one that adapts. Now Russia is facing significant troop increases in the next ~3-6 weeks and at the same time opening the “electricity war” (after patient eight months of an ongoing military operation) for the winter, which is already hitting Ukraine hard and may have some painful consequences, such as large streams of refugees to the West, potential for our own sustained offensives and, under these conditions, could change some things in the fog of war by the end of February.
Winter belongs to Russia. The EU countries should also take part in this “winter experience” first-hand when it comes to their sanctions and energy supply issues. After historical experiences with Napoleon and Hitler, one could certainly claim this form of expression in the Kremlin.

“EU wants to pay Ukraine 1.5 billion euros a month (for one year).
“It is very important for Ukraine to have a predictable and stable flow of income,” said EU Commission President von der Leyen after an EU summit. Accordingly, Ukraine needs three to four billion euros a month to cover its basic needs. This should be covered by the EU, the USA and the financial institutions.
“That’s why it was about 1.5 billion per month for Ukraine financed by the European Union,” von der Leyen said. The EU finance ministers are now to work out a mechanism for this.”

This “basic needs” mechanism has been requested for a long time. Back then it was about the figure of 5 billion euros per month. Originally it was also about the financing of weapon systems from the US, so that the EU should provide Ukraine with funds for leasing such weapons. At the same time, the state and thus the government in Kiev would be broken if salaries and social benefits were to be lost after insolvency. This is how you keep a morbid structure alive from the outside in an artificial and minimalist way, which at least can still keep up the fight.

Almost textbook concern trolling.
Russia is defending territory already gained. The Ukros are losing precious men and equipment to try to generate headlines and propaganda.
Separate the steak from the sizzle. The Russians are methodical, and continue to dominate this situation.
They can still lose but it will take more than a few Ukrainian advances. NATO will have to become overtly and undeniably involved.

I read it too:
In order to divert the attention of the world media from the possible destruction by the Ukrainian Nazis of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, British experts from MI6 recommended Zelensky to carry out a distracting sabotage on the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline in the Nikolaev region.
The destruction of the ammonia pipeline is planned to be carried out in the Bereznegovatsky district, where more than 15 thousand people live.
The destruction of a part of the pipe is planned with the help of the S-300 air defense system. After that, the Western media will cover events to rescue the residents of nearby villages and traditionally accuse Russia of terrorism.
The preparations for a terrorist act on the ammonia pipeline are indicated by the actions of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations. In the administration of settlements of the Bereznegovatsky district, representatives of the State Emergency Service delivered memos on first aid in case of damage to hazardous chemicals.
It should also be noted that a large number of foreign journalists arrived in Nikolaev, who, according to some reports, should be involved in covering a certain emergency.
Such a strategy of action is not new. More than once, the West has been ready to sacrifice civilians to achieve its goals, especially if they are not citizens of Western countries.
The resumption of ammonia exports was part of the extension of the “grain deal”. By the way, the American company Occidental Petroleum has already paid for the next supply of ammonia.

Rest assured, Russia is not going to lose now that it has at long last set up a unified command, put Surovikin (Koniev Mark II if I ever saw one) in charge, is (again at long last) systematically destroying Ukranazi infrastructure, and is now massing forces in Belarus for a serious offensive from the north. Which is a much, much better use of the mobilised forces than committing them in bits and pieces to defend Kherson and the LDNR.

Ukraine plans to accuse Russia of killing residents of the Kherson region
Russia can be accused of the massacre of civilians in the Kherson region during the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Such an order was received by employees of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the office of the President. The provocative scenario will be copied from the infamous situation in Bucha, where Ukraine tried to accuse the RF Armed Forces of killing locals.
It is worth noting that the main perpetrators of the destruction of the civilian population have already been identified – units of the “foreign legion” deployed by Kyiv from the Izyum direction.
They will be assisted by operational officers of the SBU, who have in their hands the data of employees of the CAA, residents who participated in the referendum and received passports of the Russian Federation.
It is worth noting that after the destruction of the population, the punishers will be transferred to other areas.
In addition, journalists will work together with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine to “record” for the Western press the facts of “war crimes” committed by Russian troops.
Recall that in Nikolaev the SBU is preparing a filtration camp for pro-Russian citizens of Ukraine. There is already a pool of foreign journalists here. Now representatives of the CIPSO are conducting briefings and updating the main narratives for the preparation of reports from the places of mass executions of civilians.

The Russian language should disappear from the territory of Ukraine in general, as an element of hostile propaganda – Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Danilov
“English is obligatory, our native language is obligatory. It is very dangerous to plant these Russian narratives here. We don’t need anything from them, let them retreat to their swamps and croak in their Russian language,” Danilov said.
The answer to the Kyiv official was published by the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov:
“It is not the Russian language that will disappear, but Ukraine, which is led by such characters. Danilov is a clear example of what a former Russian person can turn into, who sold his dignity and the memory of his ancestors for rotten Bandera stew.”

🇷🇺🇺🇦❗️An hour ago, the enemy in the north in the Tern region (Kremennaya-Svatovo line) attempted to break through our defense line. Mechanized units (infantry fighting vehicles, pickups), with the support of a tank company, tried to jump out to the Kremennaya-Svatova highway, but were hit by our artillery thanks to the timely actions of reconnaissance and special forces on the front line. The situation on the road is tense.
The enemy tried to organize a breakthrough with the support of Western military specialists and mercenaries.
Ukranian formations in the Tern area are evacuating the wounded and dead, waiting for reserves to continue the attack on our positions.

He also plans to continue dialogue between Moscow and Kiev
According to him, this should be a topic for discussion, since “we are talking about sincerity in transatlantic trade.” “I intend to raise this issue during my visit to the United States in December,” the French president said.
French President Emmanuel Macron plans to continue dialogue with Moscow and Kiev to bring the start of negotiations between the two sides closer.
“We cannot decide for Ukraine at what point it should start negotiations with Russia, but we must continue the dialogue with each of the parties,” Macron said. “This is necessary, because at some point they will have to sit down at the negotiating table.”

Interesting read by Larry Johnson

Both the United States and Europe have expressed openly their goal of getting rid of Vladimir Putin. Putin, in their juvenile world, is the source of all suffering and all evil. Quite a powerful guy according to Western mythology. Yet–irony alert–it is the leaders in the West that are being toppled. Joe Biden’s party is facing a massive rebuke in the upcoming November election.
Italy gave the Prime Minister reins to an outspoken Conservative–a clear rejection of the traditional political hacks that had been in charge in Italy. And the United Kingdom is in the grips of a record setting meltdown of its political order. For the first time since Parliament came into being (we’re talking three hundred years), the Prime Minister was forced to resign after 40 days in office. While the Tories are trying to paint lipstick on this pig of a situation and call it Marilyn Monroe, it is a total clown show.
The UK will continue to give lip service to backing Ukraine, but the economic reality will dictate either cutting back support in order to maintain the readiness of the British military or gutting the British military in favor of arming Ukraine. The UK cannot do both.

Residents of border areas who wish to avoid shelling from the Ukrainian side can temporarily live in the Moscow region.
“The request of residents of the border areas and the city of Belgorod for temporary resettlement will be satisfied. The Moscow region is already ready to accept 500 Belgorod residents on the territory of one of the sanatoriums. We are ready to provide transport. IMO, the accusations of Iran’s supplying Russia with drones is another Lawfare attempt along the usual lines of “we say it so it must be true.” It’s yet another ploy to keep genuine reports about Ukraine’s behavior out of media. This has now reached a rather serious point that was argued in today’s closed door UNSC session as RT reports:

Polyansky insisted that the controversy around the UAVs had nothing to do with the nuclear deal and stressed that the UN Secretariat did not even have the authority to investigate anything related to UNSC Resolution 2231.
“We hope that the secretariat and the secretary general will not violate the decisions of the UN Security Council and will not go beyond their technical mandate and refrain from participating in any illegal investigation,” Polyansky told reporters following a closed-door Security Council meeting.
“Otherwise, we will have to re-evaluate our cooperation with them, which is not in anyone’s interests,” he added, noting that Russia would prefer not to do this, but could be left with no other choice.

Guterres is clearly spineless. How many times did he or his office denounce the non-compliance with UNSC 2022, the Minsk Accords? Or the continual shelling of Donbas and Ukraine’s genocidal legislation?
The Outlaw US Empire of Lies will continue to do anything to enhance its position in our Hybrid World War.

Interesting times.
When listening to the latest MOD briefing. I noted the comments that on a tactical level 33 ‘himars shells’ were intercepted. Only one got through, killing three civilians and injuring another 12.
Mind you the usual batch of denialati/trolls keep telling us the exact opposite. Using the usual 2% mixed well with ‘z’ grade poopaganda.
In short, given the attack spread. The well-trained RF soldiers on the ground are doing a fairly impressive job.
When compared to the poorly trained USSA troopers “Stormin’ Norman” gas bagger era! Where even the USSN NAVY targeted and deliberately shot down civilian aircraft. Given the extremely poor well documented record of the so-called advanced “patriot” missiles. Back in Gulf War One. A fact that the RAF can attest to. As it was incapable of performing a simple ‘friend or foe test’. lmao
Clearly, the CIA Satellite division at Langley in the USSA. Were fully aware of the ongoing evacuation of 60K civilians moving to higher ground.
Just another war crime as is done daily by the CIA. Since foundation day.
USSA, the evil empire. “FRIEND OR FOE?”

A good parallel for this stage of the Ukrainian war is the WW2 battle of the Kursk salient, where the Soviets built a defence in depth and allowed the Germans to attack. The Germans lost a significant part of their forces in repeated attempts to break through the Soviet lines, and placed themselves in a position conducive to the very successful Soviet counter-attack.
In the north and south, the Ukrainians have left their fortified positions and are in the open, or protected by forests that are now losing their leaves. In the Kherson region they are attacking across open fields, and are taking very significant losses as well as reductions to their morale due to the repeated losses. The Russians have dug in, and are removing the civilian population to facilitate a defence in depth. At the same time they constantly disrupt the Ukrainians abilities to amass their troops through artillery, missile and drone attacks. If the Ukrainians do mount a major attack, the Russians will allow them to further expend their forces as a prelude to their own offensive – which will come when the ground has hardened, the skies have cleared and the new echelons have been added to their own forces.
Unlike in WW2 we live in an era of instant information, and therefore time tends to feel a lot slower than it would then. So we can become frustrated by things “taking too long”. This war has only been in progress for eight months, during which Russia has taken 20%+ of Ukraine geographically and the vast majority of its GDP, together with destroying huge amounts of Ukrainian military personnel and material – to the point of depleting even Western stocks. War has been typified as long periods of boredom interspersed with weeks of intense action. Come late November, the latter will be on the table.
Fighting the whole West, Russia also needs to be extremely careful to keep the “Rest” on board with the nature of its operations in Ukraine. It has been greatly successful in this, firstly with the “Rest” not sanctioning Russia (heavily nullifying any impacts of sanctions), and giving the Ukraine time to display its nature to the Rest and thus providing the needed support for Russia to escalate its operations. Russia has now been reducing the water level behind the dam for days, greatly reducing the impact of any breach. If it were to be breached by Ukraine it would provide the support for Russia to significantly escalate further with respect to the Rest. President Putin is a coldly calculating individual, as his actions in Chechnya showed, so we should not put it past him to sacrifice some civilians and soldiers (much less now with the lower water level) to gain a completely free hand in Ukraine from the Rest – for example, the surrounding and sieging of Kiev and the elimination of the Ukrainian leadership. What the Western media would say about that is pretty irrelevant to Russia, what the elites of the Rest think about it is what is important.
Also, with the self-harming nature of the Western sanctions, a slower war benefits Russia as it stretches out the long depression that is taking place in Europe, and the long recession in the US. Greatly reducing the threat of Europe and creating severe political issues within European nations and between European nations.
Russia (and China and Iran) are playing the long game that is required to overcome Western hegemony without triggering WW3. It may seem needlessly slow at times, and provide much ammunition to the army of anti-Russian trolls, but it is the correct strategy.

Expert talks about possible consequences in case of destruction of the ammonia pipeline “Togliatti – Odessa”‼️ by the Ukrainian side
If the Ukrainian side carries out this monstrous act of terrorism, an entire region of the Mykolayiv region will be threatened with an environmental disaster, said Aleksandr Baganov, associate professor at Kherson Technical University.
Just one kilometer of the pipeline has more than 50 tonnes of ammonia concentration in it. Its destruction will result in an ecological catastrophe.
Around the site of the ammonia leak, the concentration of the pollutant concentration in the air will exceed many times the maximum allowable concentration within a radius of 20 kilometers.
Residents of nearby settlements will lose the crops they grew in their fields and vegetable gardens.
Fish in nearby rivers will die and will take four to five years to recover. If the leak happens at night, many civilians will be poisoned.

Guterres is just another Western UN pimp. Its been the case of all UN leaders since Boutros-Ghali’s second term was blocked by the US. The latter’s successor, Kofi Anon acted like he worked for the US State Department – for example, facilitating the bombing of Serbia. Ban Ki-moon wasn’t much better.
So much of the UN has been turned into a comprador for the West, such as the OPCW that constantly lies and makes shit up to make Russia, Syria etc. look bad.

I think people are gonna be sitting in a recession and they’re not going to write a blank check to Ukraine. They just won’t do it.

I’m just nuts for that Buck Owens / Dwight Yokum Bakersfield standard of megatwang, personally. I’m not so nuts about our Kevin, but he’s never been known for spouting stupidities like some of his cowboy colleagues. The Russian strategy towards the Ukraine has been very honest and open to diplomacy with the Eu, US & NATO/West since and prior to 2014. It’s been no secret the long time policy of the USA to de-industrialize Germany and break up Russia to its sole benefit. The USA has captured western Europe, Germany has no real sovereignty as it bound to US dictates and is an occupied willing partner. The NATO attack on the Nord-Stream pipeline attack was the latest in a series of attacks on German sovereignty and the complete destruction of German Industry will soon follow. The Nord Stream attack is where Germany lost its chance to call on NATO article 5 and start war against the USA and GB…lol, not likely! The people under EU governance have no rights even if the people are mostly against the dictates of their governments, they are subjected to anti-democratic system that hold the up status quo maintaining their hegemony. The deliberate destruction of the world economy through economic warfare, the sanctions against Russia and China have benefited nobody but the Western capitalist class. This Western capitalist class are the most ignorant and selfish people where the leadership openly supports and finances the NAZI’s and Neo-fascists in the Ukraine. To create a pacified society that is completely lost in self absorbed frivolous crap, who wilfully accept their collective condition of wallowing in crap finally accept the lies because they can not bare the truth. This takes menticide, total brainwashing to believe anything from western governments. The Wests true believers propagate the big lies that become generational (false claims of democratic values & justice. Xenophobic towards ‘all other people’, false claims that Russia and China are tyranny) and the little lies such as there are no NAZI’s in the Ukraine or that Russia sabotages its own infrastructure are more easily consumed daily. The fact is Russia’s in drivers seat with this proxy war in the Ukraine, there has never been a doubt in its eventual victory. The NATO escalations within the proxy war would not change the outcome, it would only delay the result. The public in Kiev who elected Mr.Zelensky on a peace platform are beginning to see they’ve become worthless pawns in a pointless and avoidable NATO proxy war. The war profiteers have done well at the expense of all humanity. This is the natural end to American styled capitalism and dominance of the western economic order. Many people inside the belly of the American beast have lost confidence in their political leadership and the system itself. The American and Canadian public are beginning to realize how dangerous their government has become to their own well being. Mass graves of indigenous children in Canada is a truth that can not be reconciled , a more truthful view the federal government, it’s a racist tyrannical police state. As the empire now enters it terminus, Uncle Sam is dead, the US dollar will soon be worthless and the question remains, is the current leadership in the west suicidal and choose total war on Russia, China, Iran or not? How degenerate, cowardly and ignorant are they? Time will tell.

‼️🇺🇦 The enemy may be transferring forces for a new offensive from the south to the Svatovsk direction,” an evening update from Russian Legion combatant Fomich:
“According to the “Russian Legion” analytical group, the AFU is redeploying forces from the southern direction to the Svatovskoye direction. Based on the analysis from open sources by processing information from the social networks of the AFU personnel, it was established that the military personnel who posted photos with geo markers from the Kryvyi Rih area on October 17-18, today on October 21 posted content already from around Kupyansk, such cases have been recorded more than 50.
Based on this we can assume that there is a process of redeployment of units from Kherson direction to Svatovsk direction, which indicates that the AFU command has not abandoned its offensive plans in this direction and continues to reinforce its grouping.”

I am nervous and frustrated watching the Russian conducting the war. They seems to be slow and passive. Currently, they are facing Ukraine attack on Kherson and its intention of blowing the reservoir.
In wars news reporting is a weapon. Consider that German media was saying that Germany had the Russians overextended and in a trap as Berlin was being surrounded in 1945.
Most consumers of media know of warfare comes from TV and movies and those tend to be marketing material for the “American way of war”.
Russia has a military tradition going back to the 1200’s. What we are seeing today is the Russians using a lot of pins, feints, tactical retreats and ‘defeat in detail’ which are long standing and proven military tactics that have always been the staple of war on the Russian steppe but don’t offer a lot of action for the camera or “gotcha moments” like a HIMARS strike.
Decimating an enemy while retreating and combat units playing meat puppet for months is simply boring but the effect is a lot of enemy resources being destroyed without putting a lot of your resources at risk.
Russia is trading space for time. Gaining territory is Bid …er Ukraines only objective while the Russians need time to rejig and organize
As far a Kherson it’s an important bridgehead over the Dnieper which would be very costly to retake. It could be the Russians want the Uke’s to believe they plan to defend Kherson to the last man in order to buy time for an orderly evacuation but I’d bet on them wanting a bridgehead to take Odessa.
Russia is fighting a war on their terms, using their strategy and tactics … not Hollywoods or Madison Avenues or NATO’s. They aren’t desperate, they fought for a century against the mongols, decades against napoleon and a recent war with Nazi Germany … most of it on the Russian steppe. Those were each the most formidable forces in the world in their day and Russia defeated them all. (Ok the Mongols just sorta lost interest but they still learned a lot fighting them) They have a they have a shit-ton of tools in their toolbox.
Chess is in their elementary school core curriculum … they teach tactics and strategy alongside reading and arithmetic. School kids in Russia know what a feint and pin are … westerners see it as a loss or mis-management.

The folks who are >>I am nervous and frustrated watching the Russian conducting the war<< should read "The Art of War" by Sun Tsu, and "Vom Krieg" by Carl von Clausewitz. Putin is employing the principles of those treatises. These books suggest strategies fundamentally different than the strategies, especially in the last 50 years, of the west. Think, about the difference between the game Go, and Chess.

As Mercouris has noted, he was wrong about the steppe before Kherson being mudddy and thereby posing a challenge for manoeuvres with respect to the expected assault on Kherson.
With the high probability that Zelensky is getting max pressure from Biden for a pre-election win, does this absence of mud increase thee possibility os a all-in Banzai!!-type charge involving the regular army and the tens of thousands of reserves at Nikolaiev?

After Z’s remarks to the EC yesterday, I’m seeing a lot of concern about the flooding that could occur if the Kakhovskaya Dam is destroyed.
Looking at images of the dam, and considering that all approaches are controlled by Russia, I’m curious about HOW this could be achieved. Considering how many HIMARS it took to put enough holes in the Antonov Bridge in Kherson to shut it down after 4-5 days of attacks, is there a missile system that can create sufficient structural damage? Or, would it require locally placed explosives?
Any weapons experts care to share their experience?
In the meantime, authorities seem to consider this a credible threat, and are managing a controlled release of water – though I can’t imagine how much time it will take to lower the reservoir by even a few feet. There do appear to be some spillways, curious how much they can help.

Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics has explained Riga intends to start a tough filtering of Russians living in the country by reducing permits through apparently loaded questions about Ukraine.
During checks Russians will reportedly be asked questions such asL “Whose is Crimea?” and “What is happening in Ukraine now?”, with supposedly ‘wrong’ answers denying a residence permit.

Richard Falk’s commentary:
Ukraine War Evolves: Slouching Toward Armageddon

Always lurking in the background, and at Ukraine’s and the world’s expense, is Washington’s geopolitical opportunism, that is, seeking to defeat Russia and deter China from daring to challenge the hegemonic unipolarity achieved after the Soviet disintegration in 1992. It this huge investment in its militarist identity as the sole ‘global state’ that best explains this cowboy approach to nuclear risk-taking and the tens of billions expended to empower Ukraine at a time of internal suffering in the U.S. coexisting with this costly mode of international overreach.

Mikhail Fridman’s son begs for Ukrainian sanctions to be lifted and renounces Russia
Alexander Ozhelsky, 22, the only son of the co-owner of Alfa Group, along with many Russian businessmen, was put on the Ukrainian sanctions list. And after that, he decided to record a video message in Ukrainian, but for some reason not in his native language, but English.
According to him, he should not be sanctioned because of his kinship with his father, and indeed he immediately left and condemned Russia after February 24 because he values freedom. But the Western version of “freedom”, as it turns out, is not particularly selective to those who desire it.
Recall that Mikhail Fridman, a Russian oligarch, former board member of Alfa Bank, and co-owner of Alfa Group, was put on sanctions lists back in February. Friedman has previously tried to buy off Western sanctions but denies it himself. No one doubted that the children of the elite would follow in their parent’s footsteps.
This is going to be so purifying to Russian society. All that is rotten will come to the surface. Cathartic.

«This censorship was spread widely.»
A well known british “journalist” has recently argued passionately and enthusiastically for NATO government censorship of “journalists” like him, and he claims with satisfaction this always happened in the past (and he would know, as an insider):
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/oct/13/online-regulation-alex-jones-us-court-fine
There have always been Alex Joneses spreading poison from the world’s soap boxes and pavements. As a boy I used to listen to them at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park. We would turn away with a grimace from their rubbish, while a couple of police stood by in case of trouble. Their lies never made it into newspapers or on to the airwaves.
Free speech went only as far as the human voice could carry. Beyond that, “news” was mediated behind a wall of editors, censors and regulators, to keep it from gullible and dangerous ears. […] Justice can avenge lies – but not prevent them. […] an ex-president with a fantasy can lead followers towards a coup in the capital of world democracy. […] But if freedom is to be protected and treasured, this means the US and Europe acting in concert.

Zelensky accuses Russia of having mined a dam in the Cherson region.
…Anyone who has been following the matter has known for weeks that Ukraine fired on the said dam, that Russia closed the dam because of the risk of it collapsing and is working hard to evacuate the population.
On top of that: The Cherson region was recently annexed by the evil Russians in violation of international law, people were forced to join Russia with the Kalashnikov on their heads
… and now Putin has had a bad night’s sleep and thinks: “Now I’ll mine my recently captured dam!”
…Yes, of course!
How about if Selenskij and Co. come up with a few smarter things?!
Even if the Kremlin is also lying, they at least make it a lot smarter!
>>In a video speech, Zelenskyj said: (…) In the event of the dam’s destruction, “the North Crimean Canal would simply disappear”, which supplies the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, with water.<< ... Bor well, it makes even more sense for Russia to mine the dam! They shoot themselves in the foot again and harm their beloved Crimea! clear now... And in the West, nobody is interested in the destruction of Crimea's infrastructure.... noooooo…. Oh, I forgot - it gets even hotter: By mining the Cherson dam, the Russians endanger the supply of the Crimea ... to which they evacuate the people from Cherson ... LOL ... the Russians really have a sense of humor It's snowing up there!

I think that this would be a geopolitical coup and that it’s necessary for the UN to continue functioning. That’s important because it’s clear that China and Russia would prefer that it does keep functioning and the plan they put forward is essentially a return to a functional UN. I’d like to nominate Kabul as the new UN headquarters. An ancient crossroads of civilization and the UN could replace the “development” that the US performed there, which was just a washing machine for US government money. Perhaps the UN in Afghanistan would help the Afghans return to their historical implementation of Islam rather than the Wahhabist style that was brought with the CIA/KSA in the 80’s.

Regarding the destruction of the, now famous, Dam.
It’s a very big structure. As you go deeper in the water at the face of the dam, the structure gets wider and more massive.
The Soviets tended to over engineer their dams (so I’ve read), so my guess is this dam – which is containing a lot of water, is significantly over built for it’s purpose.
It seems like it would not be easy to break the dam with explosives. Especially explosives that could be delivered by a missile. So several thousand pounds of explosive would have to be floated down the reservoir – the “mines” we hear about. I suppose a large motorized torpedo might suffice ?
Doesn’t seem likely if the Russians are at all vigilant. Back in WW2, harbors used to be secured with “submarine nets” across the harbor mouth. Seems like something similar could work here. It’s hard to believe that Russia is doing nothing to defend the dam from the scale of attack that would be needed to actually damage the structure.
Of course, the sluice gates could be a target. Those would be easier to destroy, releasing water in an uncontrolled fashion. Perhaps that is the reason they are lowering the level of the Reservoir, to get the water level below the entry way of the Sluice gates.

Disease is an illusion: it apparently exists, but, in reality, it does not.
What exists is: sick people. Humans who experience the consequences of their daily actions.
Not all people can control their daily actions: there are people in the world worrying about feeding their offspring.
People are sick because they are out of balance: emotions are the line of least resistance. Thoughts take over the experience of humans.
But, humans are free. Their decisions carry inescapable consequences for the collective mind and heart. He who hates, hates will find, even after death. For, even if life meant no purpose, it would have to be invented to do so.
It is too boring to follow and follow the trail.
Let people be free and enjoy their spirit. There is no evil in the spirit of humans.

Russia cant do much now, as you say Ukraine have unlimited help and aid now and are very confident on their goals.
Russia on the other side, cant even protect Russia proper, evacuate when Ukrainans are coming and running low on arms and morale among their soldiers.
On top of that you have a russian oil ban coming up in december which will damage russian economy greatly. I am nervous and frustrated watching the Russian conducting the war. They seems to be slow and passive.
The Russians are pushing to capture Bakhmut, the lynchpin in Kiev’s occupation of western Donbass.
At their height Kiev had 30,000 soldiers in Bakhmut. The defenses there are still enormous. If they lose Bakhmut it severs their frontline, their logistics.
But you don’t hear about Bakhmut, because the media have ordered a total silence about it.
The leftist media do the same as the media in Argentina during the Falklands War – declare everything is GREAT. Right up to the day when they had to admit defeat. Everyone was shocked because all they’d heard was about their victories.

On western Ukraine being given to Poland with Russia’s tacit approval why would Russia want to make a rabidly antagonistic EU controlled Poland geographically and population-wise bigger and more powerful?
Germany seems done for, broken and bowed, just like Japan back in the 1980s having dared to break their prisoner of war chains and not recycle their (huge) surpluses through the USA. Those old enough certainly remember when Japan was everywhere in the news cumulating in their buying Rockefeller Center, then suddenly massive economic collapse and they’ve been bit players on the world stage since. The USA orchestrated that collapse. Others here have talked about this referencing the Plaza Accord.
Germany tried to do the same in the 1990s seeing its chance with the collapse of the USSR. German money (actually EU surpluses) industry and technology combined with Russian resources and overland access to the Chinese market was to be their chance to break their shackles and even overtake the USA. The emperor kills or is killed as they say and the emperor killed Germany. Like Japan it’s bowed for decades to come.
My guess from there the USA/UK plan is to recreate the power structure imposed on post WW2 EU that was structured around Germany and France making Poland the new industrial power and Ukraine the political center of a reorganized EU. This also makes sense as NATO power shifts eastwards toward China it must also shift geographically – Warsaw becomes Berlin, Kiev becomes Paris. Only bugaboo is this little thing called Russia that is in the way.
So, I don’t see Russia wanting Germany’s military and industrial power transferred over to a more populated, powerful and geographically bigger Poland. I have absolutely no idea what Russia plans to do about any of this serious geopolitical game that is no less ambitious and threatening than Napoleon’s or Hitler’s. Once again the West wants Russia lands its people serve no purpose. We really are on the cusp of WW3.

I think it is high time that revolting posts against Jews, such as that one, move to sites where Jew-hating is accepted.
At MoA it should not be.
I am deeply offended by the anti-Jew comments that have found a place here.

You want the site owner to ban all mention of the large Jewish dominance of the top media boardrooms and of Hollywood, after generations of effort to achieve that state, which Jews themselves talk about. In articles like “Yes, of course Jews run Hollywood”.
That kind of ban is already in place in social media like Facebook run by Zuckerman. Who is Jewish.
I applaud this censorship! Otherwise everyone would be anti-Semitic! So information like what I mentioned above must be buried.
These “bad” facts must be buried by GOOD facts. So let me provide some stats that Jews can celebrate. Jews are…
-The group that supports censorship of free speech the most, called “hate speech”
-The group that supports banning guns the most, as they are in countries like Colombia
-The group that supports the neocon wars the most
-The group that makes up almost every single neocon, and all the top ones like Bill Kristol and Paul Wolfowitz
-The group that makes up most of the top donors among the Democrats, and a large percentage of top donors among the Republicans
-The group with the strongest racial lobby group in Washington (the Israeli lobby)
-The group with by far the highest representation in proportion to their numbers of all the races in the presidential cabinets of Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush and Clinton
-The group that votes the most leftist, along with Blacks
-The group with the strongest racial interest groups in Europe
-The group that supports mass immigration the most
-The group that supports Affirmative Discrimination the most, along with Blacks
-In fact, Jews are the only group who support Affirmative Discrimination MORE when they hear that it “could” harm Whites. Even among Blacks support is somewhat reduced when they hear that it could harm Whites.
I approve of these progressive, socialist, leftist stances! Ever since the days of Karl Marx – who we celebrate as “the founder of sociology,” along with people like Sigmund Freud, and Marcuse and the whole Frankfurt School. These contributions have completely reshaped our universities! Sociology must reign supreme.

Your question is pointless.
Ukraine doesn’t have limitless resources. The West doesn’t have limitless resources to give either. What both have is limitless corruption.
Russian assets won’t be sent to Ukraine, either. The money the West stole from Russia might be – and let’s be honest: the West has been looking for a way to legalize its theft since at least February. Most of the money won’t go to Ukraine… just enough that they can serve as the moral fig leaf. The West will keep the rest.
And when you are done bemoaning the money and assets sent by your government to Ukraine, think about the response Russia will give you. And answer they will.

Disappear you racist shill. How about dealing with what people do, rather than the race/religion to which they were born.
In the 1960-70s Jewish intellectuals were at the forefront of antiwar movements, for peace and goodwill. Many, many still are. I remember these very positive people and the benefits they brought to us all.
I am not so sure about the children of these great people, because many have turned to the right to become Neocons. That is sad, but it is more about Israeli nationalism than race or religion. So yes it is true that the disillusioned children of the radical, socialist idealists of the 60s have often turned to something resembling fascism, but that happens in almost every society under certain conditions and indeed is happening very fast now in the west.

So far Nato has managed to avoid sending the real expensive stuff, namely tanks and jet aircraft. This is due to being able to use up the massive Warsaw pact inventories of Soviet equipment. These are running low. There were rumors that Blinken is running around South America trying to find some more Soviet equivalent equipment. Good luck with that. Even if he finds something the quantity will be negligible.
If Nato decides to send their own tanks and jets, the costs from current can easily go up 5 – 10x. There are no reasons to assume that Nato tanks or fighters will perform any better than their Soviet counterparts did. Also the Abrams and Leopard tanks are logistical nightmares to operate in a country which infrastructure is ravaged, in the case of the Abrams, they also use the gas turbine motors. This would require fuel trucks with both gas and diesel.

The object of all of these… it is how we can live between between us. Humans.
I am a pasu, like you. Are you able to be a brahman? If not, shut up what you are not, and live like a free ksatriya:

Funny, “friggin clown army” is exactly how I refer to you and the cadre of trolls who stink up the bar. And you, self-appointed five star General of the 182nd Chairborne Brigade, are the most pathetic of the bunch. You really need a new hobby, little man.

Also Nato tanks require stockpiling the different types of Nato caliber ammunition. You have to start it from scratch.

All the talk of Jooz is put here to discredit MoA. I’ve seen people in the ‘outside world’ say as much. In fact, I once had a tit-for-tat exchange with one Louis Proyect on the matter in the comments at Salon, back when Greenwald was still writing there. He specifically accused MoA of being an anti-semetic website. There’s a difference between Jew and Zionist – and Zelensky and the neocons are all clearly the latter. Some of them are Jewish (ostensibly, I have no idea how they conduct their personal lives), many of them are Catholic, Protestant and agnostic, I’m certain. I’m not asking for “censorship”, but rather a firmer hand in moderating when posters are unable to articulate their points w/o old, false stereotypes.

Meanwhile, nary a peep from Israel during this whole Ukraine affair. That in itself is suspect. It’s not the ones making the loudest noise that we should be wary of …

The Ukraine is in the position of being forced to generate media spectacles and social media buzz, else Europeans and Americans lose interest in them and cut their funding. This has caused them to consistently trade lives for marginal advancements of questionable strategic value. In attritional warfare, that is a losing strategy in the long run.

Have heard about a certain warning, the Russians cabled at Kiev and its Western curators, that they would attack the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant in case of the Nova Khakovka dam’s destruction. Found some similar reading on South Front, too. Maybe that threat thwarts substantial attacks on Nova Khakovka as the KHPP’s destruction would spark an even worse torrent than in Cherson and likely separate Ukraine by heavily enlarging the Dnepr. However, cannot think of a better scenario for Western infowarriors: “Evil Russia floods Ukraine, blasting dams in Cherson and Kiev…”

Russia did the same in Syria, fighting against American jihadist proxy forces. It was a long boring affair, but successful in the end.

@11
If the British succeed in sabotaging an ammonia pipeline in an urban area, they deserve the fullest revulsion and condemnation from the entire World.
Russia should declare war on Britain and have it out in the open.
The British attacked Germany and Europe when they sabotaged the gas pipeline and are busy carrying out overt acts of war against Russia.
NATO WAS NOT SET UP TO DEFEND AN AGGRESSOR FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR OWN ACTION..
Europe will not come to Britain’s aid, and the US will watch from the sidelines.
The UK needs a Prime Minister who is not a war mongering scumbag, and is capable of fostering constructive relationships with the rest of the World. All of it.
