Interesting air defense encounter.
Ukrainian planes that attacked Belgorod were shot down in front of the airfield: details
On October 13, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a missile attack on Belgorod. An hour before the shelling, reconnaissance of the Russian borders was carried out by the MiG-29A and Su-27 of the Ukrainian Air Force with American AGM-88C / D missiles. The targets of the fighters were to be the Pantsir, Buk and S-300 air defense systems located in the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine.
For the attack, the pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used low-altitude flight with a short-term “jump” to a height of 3.5-5 thousand meters to launch missiles. They used this technique before advancing on Kherson. So Ukrainian aviation tried to check the location of Russian air defense both in Novaya Kakhovka and on the line of combat.
An attempt to “open” the Russian air defense in Belgorod turned out to be the loss of both aircraft for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The cars were shot down near the village of Shishaki, in the airspace over the Poltava region. According to the Military Chronicle, at the moment when both pilots requested a landing at the air base in Mirgorod, two rockets exploded in the rear hemispheres of the vehicles.
According to the Military Chronicle, MiG-29A and Su-24MR of the Ukrainian Air Force were shot down from a distance of 217 km. Target illumination at such a range for air defense systems could be carried out by the A-50 reconnaissance and target designation aircraft. For firing at fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from such a distance, the 9M82MV missile of the S-300V4 complex could be used. Its maximum launch range is 350 km, and the flight speed is 7.5 Mach (9187 km/h).

Here is the amount from Rachel Aiello’s CTV report
“$15 million worth of winter clothing, including 400,000 pieces of gear such as winter parkas, pants, boots and gloves sourced from Canadian companies as well as an additional 100,000 pieces from the CAF inventory” It is a lot of winter gear, as you point out.

” Having read “Confessions of an Economic Hitman” by Perkins, it became clear that non-forgiveness (actually usury) loans by those international lending establishments, i.e. The International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Bank of International Settlements; could be considered as highly complicit in those nations who owe and owe and owe on those “friendly” development loans and aggravated compounding interest to the Bank$ter elite.

Million man army. 400k pieces of gear.
I wonder if gloves count as one or two pieces.
As if Ukrainians don’t know how cold it gets.

To passs @68, Latvia sought to keep out or send back those “from racial or ethnic minorities,” while “it welcomed 35000 refugees from Ukraine.” Amnesty gives example of brutality experienced by Iraqis trying to get in. Migrants’ bodies including genitals were frequently tasered for extended periods of time. Latvia has no comment, says information is “classified.” BBC report says Latvia declared “state of emergency” only for the purpose of keeping migrants out.

B, you’ve got a great, informative platform here, but you might want to consider addressing some broader strategic initiatives in which to complement daily topical operational threads.
Gor example, the series of allied meetings that took place before the Axis powers surrendered in 1945 can provide some guidance as to what we currently know (published accounts), as well as reasonably surmise as to the extent of future alliances with respect to security agreements, trade, commerce and economic development arrangements, etc
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Allied_World_War_II_conferences
While the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is still somewhat relevant, the original intent begun in the 1990s wasn’t to invite a long, drawn out kinetic war, but rather to collapse russias government and ability to resist US/NATO dismemberment.
As that threat has been thwarted, and Russia by any account has essentially won (other than suffering a retaliatory nuclear strike by the losing West), the real challenge for interested observers is to turn our attention to sussing out the emerging new order.
I’m not sure where else these type of conversations could take place. MoA has a nice advantage with its existing set of knowledgeable analysts and writers. It might as well be here.

Nine Russian war correspondents and war correspondent projects risk being prosecuted for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. They are Igor Strelkov, Semyon Pegov (WarGonzo), Yuri Podolyaka, Vladlen Tatarsky, Sergey Mardan, Igor Dimitriev, the authors of GreyZone, Rybar, and, suddenly, Kristina Potupchik. Content in their tg channels is already being analyzed for fakes, defamation, and other prohibited and punishable items.
According to our information, a request to Roskomnadzor to check the work of the above-mentioned authors has been signed personally by the Chief of the General Staff. On the part of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the case is being led by the head of the department for oversight of the execution of the law on federal security, terrorism, extremism, and inter-ethnic relations. The reason is criticism of the Defence Ministry and its decisions in the course of the SAO.
How long the probe will last is not yet known. But if the corpus delicti is established and the guilt is proven, the military correspondents will either be fined or sentenced to up to three years in prison.

This has been debunked as UK/NSA dis-information.

Anyone worried Russia is in the shit and not up to the task, well, even if true they just have to hold out a little longer for the west to finish melting down. If you all haven’t seen this, it’s jaw dropping, staggering:
Liz Truss savaged by journalists after horror show press conference
BTW the presser questions didn’t discompose her, she came into it mentally disheveled, very distracted, whatever is going down behind the scenes in the UK is bad. Maybe it’s just that they are bankrupt after a 500ys of crime and looting both the planet and their own people, and hopefully not that the nukes are primed.

Thanks for the clarification. My take is that certain intel types…in this instance Mossad?…become personally outraged when suggestions like I made…a revelation process…gets stuck in front of their snouts. Yes, it possibly could be an individual, perhaps a Sayanim or Hasbarfa hacker, maybe even on his own.
In any event there are folks who prefer the dark and delight in stirring things up.

@ I Know Things | 99
Probably not. They operate at a particular frequency. Whereas the receiver design could be particularly broad in frequency and cover several (at least partially req’d for doppler), antennae design is typically frequency specific.
So it’s not likely they can function in military eavesdropping because that activity is at a different frequency.
________
I accept your thought regarding “probably not”. I am aware of some of the antenna design for the Starlink – silicon carbide waveguides if I recall – and not expected to burn up on reentry.
My thought though was that the platforms (license covers 42,000 last I read) in orbit represent a significant investment and with a few more antennae and maybe SDR, the ability to collect SIGINT to identify areas of interest could be such a compelling capability that it may be working or in the works.

B9k9 @89–
I deal in hard evidence, facts and related documents. I’ve yet to see any credible document that provides the information you suggest. So, until you or someone else does, I’ll presume Vladimir Putin is first and foremost NOT an oligarch, nor rich in the sense that he gained his wealth through illegal, unjust, immoral activities similar to those engaged in by most Western politicos and perhaps even yourself.
As for historical statements, Putin’s is singular, which is why I juxtaposed his vow with Biden’s.

Posted by: karlof1 | Oct 15 2022 0:19 utc | 114

“.. how do you respond to the accusation that he’s the richest of all of Russia’s oligarchs?…”
B9k9@89
The obvious response is a question: Who is making the allegation and what evidence does he adduce?
I have seem these allegations but never any evidence that Putin is in any sense an oligarch or the creature of oligarchs. If he is wealthy where is his money?
If however you must talk of oligarchs using political position to amass fortunes the case of Biden and his well documented relationships with criminals and kleptocrats is far more interesting.
It could be argued that Biden’s interest in the Ukraine reflects his enormous financial interest in preserving its rulers from democracy, and prosecution.

It’s doubtful that the Canuckistani military has total armed forces as large as 100,000. So what would they be doing with full sets of winter gear sufficient for half a million? Something simply doesn’t add up. It’s doubtful that even earlier in the Autumn when Ukraine started begging, that Canuckistani clothing manufacturers could have been turning out such a plethora of such specialized equipment.

Having never gotten into the sheep thing myself, though they do seem somewhat a favorite for a few Montana folk; my picture of that far northwest corner of Down Under has long been one of a very minuscule population relative to the land-base. So it does have some mineral resources even though hardly anyone cares to live there.
Can you come up with another bit of land where people can live, but few do? All those Talmudists, particularly the ones who tend towards the status of predatory parasites, do need their own Reservation some damned place. Seems like a bunch of them simply cannot integrate with other folks and very few of them actually care to be bothered with physical labor.

News to me on the 1939 concept in W.A. Just looked at a map and came to the realization that a people without a land needs a land without a people. That was the Zionist excuse for occupying Palestine and killing off and/or driving out the natives. Curious thing about all of that is that a Johns Hopkins DNA study of the Palestinian people revealed that their DNA is more than 80% derived from the Ancient Hebrews.

A Canadian company invented the digital patterns seen on modern gear. 400k pieces is chicken shit, each solider will need over a dozen ‘pieces’ of winter kit each, boots, gloves, socks, winter clothes, jackets, parkas, lj’s plus spares etc, shrapnel holes will put an end to recycling, blood stains likely wont come out. Canada’s military will have lots of winter kit in storage. More than half the country is frozen year round, the other half is frozen six months of the year.

According to Lavrov and others (See e.g.Reuters article), the state run chemical weapon certified Swiss laboratory in Spiez retained by the OPCW identified a sample provided by the UK government as containing both 3-Quincucnidnyl Benzilat (BZ) and A234. These are both NATO related chemical weapon compounds. The latter was almost certainly spurious, as A234 is both volatile and unstable (so if it had been on the samples, it should have evaporated and oxidized before analysis was possible). The Western suborned OPCW obfuscated these results by stating that traces of chemical warfare agents had been detected in the analysis. Implying that it had contained “Novichock”. This accusation has never been addressed. Which is why I made the image I did.
The entire affaire seems to have been fabricated by the British intelligence services to embarrass Russia. Sergei Skripal was definitely a British double agent, and Julia may have been the same. it would not surprise me to learn that they were involved in other nefarious and criminal activities, but whether compelled or through conviction, they appeared to me to be cooperating with the British.
As far as the Guardian is concerned, they switched from a progressive leaning organization willing to publish information opposing government narratives, to a leading source of disinformation and promoter of censorship, and this happened around this period, leading me to remove them from my “Usually Recommended News Sources”. I think that it is reasonable to infer a connection.

In a powerful letter making waves across Europe, French General Christian Blanchon praised citizens who refused the experimental Covid “vaccines” injections. Despite years of pressure campaigns, discriminatory policies, social exclusion, loss of income, threats, and being blamed for other’s deaths, the General thanked the “unvaccinated” for their strength, courage, and leadership:
Even if I were fully vaccinated, I would admire the unvaccinated for standing up to the greatest pressure I have ever seen, including from spouses, parents, children, friends, colleagues, and doctors.
People who have been capable of such personality, courage, and such critical ability undoubtedly embody the best of humanity.
They are found everywhere, in all ages, levels of education, countries, and opinions.
They are of a particular kind; these are the soldiers that any army of light wishes to have in its ranks.
They are the parents that every child wishes to have and the children that every parent dreams of having.
You are made of the stuff of the greatest that ever lived, those heroes born among ordinary men who shine in the dark.
They are beings above the average of their societies; they are the essence of the peoples who have built all cultures and conquered horizons.
They are there, by your side, they seem normal, but they are superheroes.
They did what others could not do; they were the tree that withstood the hurricane of insults, discrimination, and social exclusion.
And they did it because they thought they were alone and believed they were alone.
Excluded from their families’ Christmas tables, they have never seen anything so cruel. They lost their jobs, let their careers sink, and had no more money… but they didn’t care. They suffered immeasurable discrimination, denunciations, betrayals, and humiliation… but they continued.
You’ve passed an unimaginable test that many of the toughest marines, commandos, green berets, astronauts, and geniuses couldn’t pass.
Never before in humanity has there been such a casting; we now know who the resisters are on planet Earth.
Women, men, old, young, rich, poor, of all races and all religions, the unvaccinated, the chosen ones of the invisible ark, the only ones who managed to resist when everything fell apart. Collapsed.
You’ve passed an unimaginable test that many of the toughest marines, commandos, green berets, astronauts, and geniuses couldn’t pass.
You are made of the stuff of the greatest that ever lived, those heroes born among ordinary men who shine in the dark.”

You are completely mislead about Lenin and Stalin, and partially wrong about Putin.
Putin may be a religiot, and he certainly has enabled the MI5/CIA infested church in Russia, but he is indubitably not a wealthy man, not even a well paid leader, certainly not an “oligarch” (See e.g. Reuters article and has never, to my knowledge, claimed to offer some unique knowledge or ability. Despite propaganda to the contrary, in the tradition of great leaders, Putin acts as a servant of and spokesperson for the elected government of the Federation.

Posted by: B9k9 | Oct 14 2022 22:06 utc | 89
In the generic sense of the word, the authoritarian head of state of the Russian Federation is an oligarch running an oligarchy, rule by a small group.
However by the more specific meaning in the context of post-Soviet states, the President and the small group of the most powerfully men around him are the siloviki, the “enforcers”, any of them formerly from the state security services (KGB/FSB). The oligarchs are billionaire businessmen who wield considerable power but are beholden to, and only by the grace of the President.

Ask where the gold of Europe*, largely moved to London and New York for safekeeping in case of a Soviet invasion is currently stored. To the best of my knowledge, no public audit has ever been held, and the holding banks are regarded as “totally reliable”. To me this smacks of an invitation to larceny. As the monarch is the state, the death of the queen may well have triggered legal certification or auditing requirements which may well be causing anxiety.
*And other places. For example, the gold stolen brom Venezuela is supposedly stored in the vaults of the Bank of England.

Here we see why the French decided that being, “like a christer”, is synonymous with idiocy.

Cretin : Probably a doublet of chrétien (“Christian”), from Latin Christianus (from an Alpine French dialect crestin, undergoing some Franco-Provençal-like sound changes). Specifically, likely from a dialect in the Swiss/Alpine francophone region where there was once an endemic level of cretinism. It is also linked, somewhat euphemistically, to one of the older senses of the word, referring to any Christian man”

There are never any stories or photos of Putin or his family doing jet setting things. No stories of his families investments. If Putin is one of the world’s richest men, he really hates spending it, showing it off, or generally doing rich people things. Maybe he’s super rich. His early career absolutely has connections with oligarchs and organized crime, because nobody in any level of government or success then was free of such connections. But there’s really nothing to suggest he’s gotten fabulously wealthy as a leader.

It is true that shifting gas exports from Europe to Asia isn’t as simple as pushing a button, yet, but so what?
Russian budget is expected to be at 2% deficit this year. If Russia’s budget deficit is a mere 2% while fighting a hot war – compared with larger deficits for European nations at the same time who are “at peace” – it seems Russia has more than enough capital and time to execute the transition.
Let us not forget either that Russia is also executing a gas pipeline buildout to India and a pipeline buildout plus gas field development to connect Iran to Asia.

500,000 uniforms is not the same as 500,000 pieces of gear.
For that matter, a full kit includes things like underwear and socks.
Parka, gloves, boots and pants = 5 pieces. Add in a hat/hoodie – 6.
So in reality, Canada is sending less than 100K full sets of winter gear.
By the time it gets distributed and sizing issues are resolved, maybe 50K Ukrainians will be outfitted.
Which is maybe 1 months of combat losses at the present rate.
File this under: interesting but minimal impact.

Gossip about the mythical secret Putin billions was all rage a few years back, but seems to have faded.
The under-reported one that intrigues me is the marriage of his daughter Yekaterina Putina to Kirill Shamalov in 2013. His father is the co-owner of Rossiya Bank and a friend of Putin.
Kirill uses the double connection to secure favorable business deals and soon becomes Russia’s youngest billionaire. They initiate divorce in 2018 and Yekaterina supposedly gets 50%.
Nothing fishy there, lololol.

True enough. I hadn’t read intermediate postings before responding to the original regarding those half-million kits of winter gear. Just the other day while dumpster diving, I obtained a backup pair of Sorel boots that should be a decent fit when my Irish Setters do not suffice for Northwoods Minnesota winter weather.
Though most Americans are quite numb when it comes to Canuckistani affairs; I do happen to be full well aware that I live north of approximately half of the Canuckistani population. Some years back, prior to explosive growth in places like Calgary and Vancouver; I definitely lived north of the full majority of Canuckistanis. Winnipeg, generally considered as the coldest city of any size on the planet, lies closer to my home than I am to the Twin Cities.

Posted by: Ken B | Oct 14 2022 21:19 utc | 73

Then missiles hitting Belgogrod are likely on mobile launchers that are constantly being moved around. The shelling of Donetsk city is probably coming from fortified bunkers. Not sure why they can’t be hit. I assume a large amount of bunker busting bombs would have landed on those areas if the USA was fighting.

Russia can fortify positions in Kherson but they can’t change the fact that they can only retreat across a river with the bridges destroyed. And that is also the path their re-supply has to take. In retrospect they shouldn’t have taken that area. Not necessary to a land bridge to Crimea or getting supplies via Crimea.

I mean, for one, the very first criticism of VPP is that he was KGB. Period.the.end. Sure, he may have recenyly gotten religion, but how do you respond to the accusation that he’s the richest of all of Russias oligarchs? Every historically important leader makes/has made these types of positive, affirmative pronouncements and proclamations. It’s what they do. Posted by: B9k9 | Oct 14 2022 22:06 utc | 89
You’re not just a cynic, which is understandable; even my best friend is a cynic; I’m a cynic; but you’re reasoning has a serious flaw. There is a problem with your reasoning; you have insufficient, biased, and irrelevant evidence, and therefore a problem with your conclusion.
Just because YOU can’t think of another leader in history that doesn’t meet your criteria of a just or decent person doesn’t mean that they haven’t existed. They surely have. I can think of one, at least, at the top of my head that has.
Your argument is that all leaders are self serving evil manipulators (for-their-own-gain-people). Putin is a leader. Therefore, Putin is a self serving, evil manipulator. Substitute evil for cynical; either way.
But your argument doesn’t allow for people being people. What I mean is that people can be generally good, but they don’t have to be perfect to be good. By standards that most people consider good. Your argumentation doesn’t allow for people to arise that are generally considered by contemporaries, to have the best interests of fellow men, or at least their compatriots, at heart(generally considered good). Humans are imperfect, but for the most part, they are decent, and not evil, and want whats best for the bulk of their fellow beings (except for the truly awful 10% of human kind); even if it’s not out of pure altruism.
Your statements reek of “a pox on both of their houses” Line of thinking. Which is lazy thinking. And again fallacious argumentation. (as an aside and to get nerdy, your argument is post hoc ergo propter hoc, and it ignores the statements/speeches of Putin and his follow-on policies and directives)
Much better to examine Putin’s statements and argumentation, compare them to his actions and policies, and see if they are consistent. And if they are, which they are, to recognize that he’s a once in a lifetime, true and genuine world leader. They do occur, and you’re witnessing it.
So I’ll stand with Karlof1, and say that he’s not naive, but knowledgeable, percipient and cleverly analytical, and ultimately realistic. And what he stated above is evidence based analysis, and not biased based speculation.

There is a great deal of evidence mounting that Russia has no standing professional army at all. Unlike other nations, even otherwise neoliberal western ones, it seems to have an officer corps, a (dramatically shrunken) conscript force, and for the rest it depends entirely on soldiers on ultra short 6 month contracts to do the fighting. This is absolutely typical of neoliberalism, since it’s a lot cheaper to hire short term contract workers in what’s essentially a gig rather than build up, house, feed, clothe, maintain, provide health care, not to speak of the need to pay salaries and pensions to, a regular full time career professional army. The problem is what happens if you’re faced with a conflict that goes on beyond the 6 month contract period and your soldiers don’t renew the contract. Since you have no standing professional army, you suddenly find yourself with no army at all. Then you have to basically raise one from “reservists”, who really aren’t reservists at all if they need months of training to be combat ready, they’re just people who have previously been in the military. Meanwhile you’ve been still running your war on a neoliberal minimum cost basis while your enemy has been building up forces for an existential war, so now you have no forces on the front, your “reservists” are still getting trained, and since your oligarchs and the enemy’s oligarchs have common business interests all these months you’ve bent over backwards to try and not cripple their infrastructure in any way even though it is the same infrastructure the enemy is using to move all its weapons and troops.
And all this while you’ve been pretending to have been preparing for this war for the last 8 years.

And yet the Putin cultists have been claiming over and over that Russia isn’t destroying the Dneiper bridges because they are allegedly too difficult to destroy.
Over and over it is the Ukranazis who have destroyed bridges, crossed rivers successfully, etc etc, while the Putin cult has only been good at attacking people wanting explanations of Russia’s failure to do the same.

It is true that shifting gas exports from Europe to Asia isn’t as simple as pushing a button, yet, but so what?
There’s endless whining on the internet about how difficult it is to shift the Russian gas market from Europe to Asia but little acceptance of the reality that it will be done regardless.
And the whining comes from people living in those countries who no longer build massive infrastructure, unlike the Russians and Chinese.
They think only of the difficulty of doing a thing and not of the fact that it will be accomplished.

@150; Essentially true.
The other factor is that 90% of the armed forces are not ground troops but logistical support staff or serving in other branches.
Therefore not available.
Neoliberalisation has infected Russia (unlike China), leading to an apolitical population suddenly asked to engage in real war.
Unclear if putin has “come to Jesus” or if oligarchs still are capable of gaining control in the interests of Capital.

The Americas. Early European explorers brought diseases with them that eliminated 95% of the population of around 100 million. So the colonists thanked their gods for the empty lands (and often for the buried grave goods which they looted, and which sometimes kept them alive).
“In 1617, just before the Pilgrims landed, the process started in southern New England. For decades, British and French fishermen had fished off the Massachusetts coast. After filling their hulls with cod, they would go ashore to lay in firewood and fresh water and perhaps capture a few Indians to sell into slavery in Europe. It is likely that these fishermen transmitted some illness to the people they met, The plague that ensued made the Black Death pale by comparison. Some historians think the disease was the bubonic plague; others suggest that it was viral hepatitis, smallpox, chicken pox, or influenza. Within three years the plague wiped out between 90 percent and 96 percent of the inhabitants of coastal New England. The Indian societies lay devastated. Only “the twentieth person is scarce left alive,” wrote Robert Cushman, a British eyewitness, recording a death rate unknown in all previous human experience. Unable to cope with so many corpses, the survivors abandoned their villages and fled, often to a neighboring tribe. Because they carried the infestation with them, Indians died who had never encountered a white person.
Howard Simpson describes what the Pilgrims saw: “Villages lay in ruins because there was no one to tend them. The ground was strewn with the skulls and the bones of thousands of Indians who had died and none was left to bury them.”
During the next fifteen years, additional epidemics, most of which we know to have been smallpox, struck repeatedly. European Americans also contracted smallpox and the other maladies, to be sure, but they usually recovered, including, in a later century, the “heavily pockmarked George Washington.”
Native Americans usually died. The impact of the epidemics on the two cultures
was profound. The English Separatists, already seeing their lives as part of a
divinely inspired morality play, found it easy to infer that God was on their side.
John Winthrop, governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, called the plague “miraculous.” In 1634 he wrote to a friend in England: “But for the natives in these parts, God hath so pursued them, as for 300 miles space the greatest part of them are swept away by the smallpox which still continues among them. So as God hath thereby cleared our title to this place, those who remain in these parts, being in all not 50, have put themselves under our protection . . ,” God the Original Real Estate Agent!”

While exaggerated, there may be something to this observation. The RF military accomplishment, and the Kremlin leadership, are all the more impressive. Playing the hand they’ve got, not some tankie fantasy.
I have no idea about the standing army of RF, but the country has the longest border in the world, and I don’t suppose the Far East, next to Japan and America, can be left without human personnel. And Russian young men are largely the same, if to a somewhat lesser degree, as in the developed Western world, that is, not men in the old sense, don’t want to fight. NATO solves this problem in Ukraine by giving drugs to the conscripts, but this is obviously not a long-term solution. Those who survive will be junkie wrecks.
You are going on about the Soviet Union, but there is nothing Putin or anyone can do to turn back time and alter the values of the population, at least not on such short notice as a decade. RF long-term strategy is based on stand-off weapons and energy bonanza, not millions and millions of soldiers. With what they have, they have now taken back most Russian land in southern Ukraine. What will happen to Odessa is the million dollar question.

The world was witness to a historic conspiracy, with economic consequences as profound, in the long run, as those resulting from 9/11. I mean, to be sure, the significant destruction of the Nord Stream infrastructure. Yet, this 9/11-like event has all but completely disappeared from the front pages of the Western MSM (to be sure after first being reflexively blamed on Russia).
I find the behavior of the MSM regarding this clearly historically transcendental event inscrutable, considering the weeks or even months that the same MSM has dedicated to mirages, such as the Trump/Russia dossier. I want to be careful and circumspect in my use of the term “conspiracy” (“a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful”), which clearly applies to the partial destruction of Nord Stream itself.
To wit, I think it’d be precipitous to accuse the entire Western MSM of some grand conspiracy to bury the topic of Nord Stream, but I do think it certainly probable that there’s a concerted effort by the same to avoid all manner of genuinely commonsense questions and inquiries that are presently not considered expedient to the Ukraine/NATO war effort. Obviously, the Russian state press and its cutouts have no authoritative value, except perhaps as facsimiles of official Kremlin pronouncements.
The Western MSM, evidently, remains incomparably more independent, but their, shall we say, “epistemological” attitude to Nord Stream’s destruction sticks out, in my mind, like a sore thumb.
As for the risk of Armageddon, I think the ability to ascertain such a risk, of course, fundamentally depends on knowing the mind of the Kremlin, so to say. For example, how serious is the latter about its announced mobilization and thereby its deepening investment in a war effort that has so far been characterized as being “done on the cheap?”
Ultimately, my thinking returns to/revolves around the Russia/Germany relationship: if nuclear war, small or big, is not in the immediate or mediate cards (counting in years), how would Russia respond to a permanently degraded/downgraded Germany, qua economic/political power? Would such an eventuality result in recalibrations in Russia that are mitigative or aggravative of the stalemate wherein Russia presently find itself vis a vis its European and American “partners?”

“The “woke” crowd like “antifa” and the “post-modernist” Left in general have a different definition of “Nazi”: Anyone who opposes them.”
And at the same time they exalt bona fide de jure Nazis in the Ukraine, and support de jure Nazi-sympathetic governments everywhere in the West.

As that threat has been thwarted, and Russia by any account has essentially won (other than suffering a retaliatory nuclear strike by the losing West), the real challenge for interested observers is to turn our attention to sussing out the emerging new order.

Thank you for stimulating a brief discussion. Before jumping to any conclusions or pre-empting any ’emerging new order’, I believe we would best give General Sergey Surovikin, aka General Armageddon, the time to confirm the demise of the old murderous order.

General Sergey Surovikin, aka General Armageddon, the new commander of Russian air, land and sea forces serving on the Ukrainian front, is blessed to have served alongside Syria’s Brigadier General Soheil Hassan, aka The Tiger, whom the late Robert Fisk said was one of the scariest men he had ever met in his long and very colourful life. Sadly, when one is faced with hordes of jacked up jihadists or NATO funded Nazis, one needs the Tiger, General Armageddon and the Armed Forces of Syria and Russia they command to save the day, as the songs of John Lennon and George Harrison just don’t cut it.
To read NATO’s accounts of these two heroes, who can be seen photographed together in this article, one would imagine they obliterate their enemies for fun and not out of necessity. In that, NATO’s media jackals deliberately conflate these men with their enemies, NATO’s proxies in both Syria and Ukraine, whose war crimes are as well documented as they are ignored by NATO’s media and political mouthpieces.
General Hassan’s Tiger Forces, as the cutting edge of the Syrian resistance, drove NATO’s killers out of each of their bolt holes, one after the other. Their patriotic campaign was made much easier by the logistics and other practical support Iran and Russia gave them and the irregulars supporting them. At the heart of that support was General Surovikin, aka General Armageddon, a veteran of the Chechen and other campaigns.

I gather the formation of the conditions for Ukrainian capitulation and with it, NATO’s terminal embarrassment will include the confirmation of the 1991 NATO borders.

The more I think about it, the more I think the real disaster for Truss in the budget-debacle is her scapegoating of Kwarteng, instead of assuming full responsibility for the policies they shared and procedure she must at least have approved:
Apparently, for PM Truss, the pound stopped at Kwarteng.
Gutless and treacherous.

Now I am assuming that Sputnik is as bad as J+J. Which is very bad. So that would influence combat readiness and effectiveness. And possibly point to a larger issue, where the question becomes one of how did the Russians fall into the trap of the shots? Are Lavrov and Putin really unaware of the nature of these shots? Its possible. I dunno. I believe my prime minister young Trudeau is aware and promoting the deadly program.

We are off topic but the Sputnik is slightly different , found to be possibly more effective than Pfizer and not as dangerous.
“Sputnik V is a vaccine cocktail that combines two adenoviruses – human adenovirus serotype 26 and human adenovirus serotype five to deliver the gene for the SARS-CoV2 spoke protein into the body in a double-stranded DNA – as compared to the Pfizer which uses single-stranded messenger RNA”
it is supposed to be non replicating but who knows?
My opinion is that the CV is a bio weapon and countries like China and Russia may know what we don’t.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💥 Battle for #Kherson – Target: AFU Ingulets Crossings⚡️
The destruction of Ukrainian crossings by a Russian Mi-28NM using the Izdelie-305 LMUR. The video also shows the destroyed bridge and crossing, presumably near the village of Davydov Brod in the #Kherson region.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad/14383

One of the directions of the enemy’s offensive, the Dudchany-Berislav road.
In the event of an enemy breakthrough near Mylovoye, the RF Armed Forces have the option of blowing up the bridge across the Republican reservoir in Novokairy.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad/14385

The super-goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to take Kherson before the New Year. This is obvious (the presence of such a super-goal). It is also obvious that they will try to cut off our grouping by going to the Dnieper and Berislav.
Judging by the morning reports of military correspondents, it was this operation that began.

❗⚡️ The Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to break through in the direction of np. Mylovoe-Novogrigorievka. And he made an attempt to take control of the intersection of the Dudchany-Mylovoe road. The battle is being fought by the 205th brigade and the 140th regiment of the RF Armed Forces. Reserve 126 “Crimean” reinforced 10th special forces brigade.
The operational-tactical situation is complex but controlled.

AFU offensive has begun on the Southern Front
In the morning, numerous reports have been received about the artillery preparation and the offensive of the AFU army that followed it in the Nikopol direction of the Southern Front.AFU plan is probably moving towards Berislav through Dudchany and Sukhanovo.

Centuries ago some would have suggested Ossetia. Legend has it Alexander built a wall for this very purpose:

The wall, also known as the Caspian Gates, has been identified with two locations: the Pass of Derbent, Russia, or with the Pass of Dariel, a gorge forming a pass between Russia and Georgia with the Caspian Sea to the east.
.
.
.
The Qur’an describes a figure known as Dhul Qarnayn, widely believed to be Alexander the Great, who built a wall made of iron between two mountains to defend the people from Yajuj and Majuj.[11]
During the Middle Ages, the Gates of Alexander story was included in travel literature such as the Travels of Marco Polo and the Travels of Sir John Mandeville.
The identities of the nations trapped behind the wall are not always consistent, however;
Mandeville claims Gog and Magog are really the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, who will emerge from their prison during the End Times and unite with their fellow Jews to attack the Christians.
Polo speaks of Alexander’s Iron Gates, but says the Comanians are the ones trapped behind it. He does mention Gog and Magog, however …

Perhaps the Ossetians would agree to a two state solution …

The post from Dan was not accurate to say the least.
Here is what Andrei Martyanov had to say.
Now a new hysterical bubble is being blown by, you guessed it, British media (a euphemism for informational sewer) about:
TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — Moscow-installed authorities in Ukraine’s occupied southern region of Kherson urged local residents to evacuate to Russia on Friday, as Kyiv’s forces pushed their counteroffensive deeper into the region. The move, announced a day before, indicated that Ukrainian military gains along the war’s southern front are worrying the Kremlin, which is struggling to cement its hold on areas illegally annexed from Ukraine last month. Russian authorities immediately promised free accommodations to anyone who heeded the recommendation to leave Kherson.
Practically every single word here is a lie, because it is absolutely not a secret that VSU is preparing yet another attempt on “offensive” in the Kherson REGION and that means that they will be launching indiscriminately at civilian population. And here it comes–ah, so well developed BS manufacturing Western media machine. Get a load of this:
But residents painted a much less pleasant picture. Konstantin, a Kherson city resident who spoke on condition of having his last withheld for safety reasons, told The Associated Press on Friday that columns of military trucks had begun to move around the city and eventually leave. All schools were closed, and most state institutions and local administrative bodies had moved to reduced working hours, he said. “The mood in Kherson is not cheerful. The city is now in suspense. Primarily the Russian military from the headquarters and the family of collaborators are leaving,” Konstantin told the AP. “Everyone is discussing the imminent arrival of the Ukrainian military and preparing for it.” Russia has characterized the movement of Ukrainians to Russia or Russian-controlled territory as voluntary, but in many cases it is the only route residents of the occupied areas can or are allowed to take.
So, read the whole thing. This is how another load of contrived and openly made up BS is being infused into already confused Western lay people’s minds. In the same time, my source from AP, who spoke on condition of having his/her/they/their last name withheld for safety reasons, told me that Associated Press is filled with a human waste

Does anyone know where to buy a genuine new Russian army or navy fur hat from Russia, not some openly pro Ukraine site? The officers’ fox fur or mink models are particularly impressive. With or without insignia. I might buy another for my wife but that is dangerous territory, given that women have their own ideas about fashion.
Meanwhile, we are giving these away to family and friends. As a fashion statement of course….

I think the recent reports of a re-newed UAF attack on Kherson is the thing to watch. This has always been the key piece of ground in my view and should the RF be ejected from or substantially compromised in the bridgehead then it will be hard to argue that this is anything but a strategic Ukrainian victory. So I have always expected the Russians to prioritise this area and really bad news for them if they lose it.
Recent reports of fighting are opaque. If the Russians have the means they should be demolishing UAF units advancing in the open without air support. If the UAF is able to advance with acceptable losses then maybe the bear has been over estimated.
Most here – like me – exepect the recent Russian mobilisation to be a game changer. But most pro-Ukraine commentators are saying that this is window dressing – putting untrained, unwilling and under equipped troops into a meat grinder. Whilst not directly related to the outcome of the recent Kherson fighting, it will be I think a good indicator as to whether the new Russian troops will be able to turn the course of the war, or a stalemate will occur.

I think people here are overly harsh about Liz. I said a month or so ago that her flexibility gave me hope. She has shown that trait again this week. It seems to me to be unreasonable to complain on one hand about western leaders having no reverse gear and also complain about the one does reversing gear. What did you want her to do – double down? Of course, I tend to agree with the Duran blokes that the deep state likely has her days numbered for her. For me, that is not a thing to be celebrated. But to each their own, I guess.

Some say that was the idea of the attempted ethnic cleansing of the former eastern Ukraine (I almost forgot the ‘n’ in ‘ethnic’). Now it is Russian. They are trying as hard as they can to empty the remaining part of Ukraine though …

… putting untrained, unwilling and under equipped troops into a meat grinder.

I don’t see the problem.
It’s untrained, inexperienced Russian troops vs. untrained inexperienced Ukrainian troops.
There’s some degree of levelling of the playing fields happening in this respect.
The Russian green troops should at least have the higher morale since they’re not being forced to remain in Russia or threatened with death by Azov kommissars.

What is the impact of the Russia Ukraine war on China’s BRI?
From the latest Pepe Escobar over at Strategic Culture.org:

“The Russians are very much aware that the usual suspects are obsessed with blowing up the complex process of Eurasia integration – starting with China’s BRI. No wonder important instances of power in Beijing are “uneasy” with the war. Because that’s very bad for business between China and Europe via several trans-Eurasian corridors.”

Could it be that one of the outcomes of this war the US desires is the destruction of the BRI between Europe and Asia?
Putin holds the interests of more than one country in his hands if this is the case.
I hope the Chinese realize that a defeat of Russia will not merely set them up as the next military target but also begin with an almost immediate dismantling of the BRI in central Asia.
Their support may have to become a lot more than lukewarm at some point …

@164, 172, Re: No mandate for Russian military to take Covid shot. Here’s a source. My Kaspersky anti virus service-which I purchased mistakenly believing it wouldn’t block me from Russian sites–blocked me from accessing the Russian site named below:
10/10/22, “Sputnik V NOT included on list of mandatory vaccines for mobilized Russians,” edwardslavsquat.substack.com
“Ministry of Defense decides the current “epidemiological situation” does not warrant compulsory COVID vaccination.”
“While mobilized reservists are subject to COVID vaccination, the Ministry of Defense has determined that mandating the shot is not necessary given the current “epidemiological indications.”
For the time being, mobilized Russians will NOT be required to receive “safe and effective” Sputnik V shots. The “epidemiological indications” could “change”–and this is something we will keep a close eye on—but there is no reason to doubt this new information provided by Explain.rf….
Explain.rf, an official information portal, writes [Oct. 6, 2022]:
“The list of vaccinations is determined by specialists of the Ministry of Defense based on the epidemiological situation.
Now mobilized people are vaccinated against the following diseases:
Flu
Hepatitis
Typhoid fever
ADSM (diphtheria and tetanus)””…(I tried to get additional source material for this, but Google translate wouldn’t translate from Russian to English).

new info By John Helmer
how the attack on the Crimean Bridge on October 8 was organised and carried out.
The politics of this evidence, and the timing of its publication now, are plain. The humanitarian grain export agreement, promoted by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has been manipulated by the Ukrainians and their NATO allies – excluding Turkey – to conceal weapons shipments for military operations against Russia.
and
Also obvious is what is missing from these operational reports from the FSB sources. So far there has been no publication of the evidence already gathered by the FSB and military intelligence on the M.O. for coordinating the movement of the truck with its explosive charge on the bridge and its movement in parallel with the fuel train, so that the detonation would coincide and strike the train, magnifying the impact on both road and rail structures.
Reports by Vzglyad analysts, Rafael Fakhrutdinov and Yevgeny Krutikov, follow; they have been translated into English without interpolation, explanation, or comment. Maps and other captioned illustrations have been added to their running text.

Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy writes:
“If this is a breakthrough attempt, then this is the strangest breakthrough attempt in recent months.
Most likely, the blow will be in another place, and from there the Russians should, according to the idea of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, transfer to the Dudchany-Mylovoe direction.

⚡Nazi movements and attacks began on all fronts – both in the south and in the north (the junction of the Kharkov region and the LPR)
The goal is obvious – to tear the attention of the SMO command “to everything at once”, and to realize the main plan in the main (still unknown) direction.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad/14401

ON KHERSON. REPORTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SENT ABOUT THE BEGINNING OF THE OFFENSIVE OF THE APU.
The numbers on the enemy were different, from 30K to 60K, and this is a significant spread.
In any case, everything will depend on three factors:
1. The literacy of the actions of military leaders (everything is written in books, you just need to know and be able to apply it);
2. Disciplines of commanders of different levels;
3. Fortitude and patience of the Russian soldier.
Notice I don’t use the terms courage and bravery. Napoleon the Great said: “Courage for a soldier is not the first, and not even the second, the main thing is to be able to endure.”
It is relatively quiet in Donetsk, our guns rumble in the Pesok area. And I really want us to survive in Kherson, I wish the peasants patience.
