”.. I’d advise Putin not to go to G20”. It makes no diff even if they bump off Pu2, as he makes no decisions, nor writes any speeches. In any case a new politico or General would take over. Put1 went to Geneva a few years ago for the alleged birth of a daughter. 2 weeks later Put2 appeared. with a new round face, no more with his prominent chin, now with different eyes and earlobes, with a new non-Judo belly, with more hair and the loss of his old German & Judo skills.. & his wife. Old video of Put1 with late Fr. Prez. Chirac, or any old photos show a different guy to Put2. Put’s Ghost locals call him. IMO, maybe after the failure of Put1 to follow through after the Donbas victory in 2014, and allowing the nato to build up, was the last straw for the Russ MIC/top dogs.

Yesterday someone brought up “Why not a tunnel instead of a bridge?” Aside from the considerable symbolic value the bridge controls the nature of traffic on the sea lane from the Black Sea to the Azov limiting the size and type of vessels that can transit. Not so with a tunnel.
Posted by: the pessimist | Oct 9 2022 21:16 utc | 146
The reason they decided to build a bridge was the matter of time. It would’ve taken a lot longer to build a tunnel than to build that bridge. And they needed that connection between Crimea and mainland Russia up and running as fast as possible.
And a defective tunnel would be much worse in terms of casualties if someone blows it up – in addition to the people killed by the explosion, lots of drowned ones.

@Martina | Oct 10 2022 3:08 utc | 200
Of course I understand these things Martina. I think the bridge is an engineering marvel, especially considering how quickly it was completed. As something that had been discussed at least since Stalin’s days and even tentatively planned while Yanukovitch was president of Ukraine that the RF built it in about 2 years is quite something. In the thread yesterday were arguing that the Russians were stupid to build a bridge instead of a tunnel because of vulnerability to attack. I was just making the point that one function of the bridge is to control traffic through the straits. The Ukrainians made a huge stink about this particular aspect of the construction claiming that it restricted fair access to the Azov Sea – meaning that it interfered with their plans to have the Brits or Americans sail warships into the area.

Has it occurred to anyone else that any fascist POW released from Russian custody will become legal targets again soon?

Posted by: RMY_grendel | Oct 10 2022 3:44 utc | 204

The Kerch Strait Bridge epitomizes all that is f*cked up with Ukrainian economic policy and their brain dead political class. It should have been built as planned as a joint economic venture benefiting two neighboring states. Instead it has become an icon of Ukrainian wrath. Instead of capitalizing on their close, profitable, and important economic ties with Russia they turned their back on their neighbors and prostituted themselves to the West and contracted economic and political syphilis as a consequence. In hoc to the IMF, economy ruined, they are now fighting a war with Russia they cannot win and wasting their most precious resource, their youth, in the process. This whole tragic state of affairs lays bare the sheer evilness, depravity, and inhumanity of Western geopolitical policies.

Actually American and Brits made a point of sailing their warships past the bridge. They made a stink because Russia insisted that they take Russian navigators on board while passing the bridge. Then they found out that the Sea of Azov is, for the most part, rather shallow. In other words, their ships were rather restricted in movement. So they left again, not to return. And now there is no longer a reason to allow them passage, as the Sea of Azov is now a Russian lake.
I think Russia stunned the entire West by building such a bridge in about 2 years. Looking at our infrastructure, I don’t think Germany is capable of building even simple, short bridges anymore. We are not even capable of building railroad and train stations. Stuttgart has been digging a railroad tunnel for the last 10 years, or longer. And neither the tunnel nor the new train station will fulfill basic safety requirements.

You are absolutely spot on. But they didn’t want a connection to Russia – they wanted one to the West, as evidenced by their attempt to establish an American presence in Sevastopol, in Crimea.
I think it was Aksyonov who stated yesterday that in over 30 years, Ukraine did not build anything in Crimea, or for Crimea. All Ukraine knows is how to destroy.

Think about NS1, NS2, Power of Siberia 1&2 etc …
Almost all under Putin, or mostly under Putin (or mostly under one or more of his body doubles, depending on which conspiracy theory you go with).
One man, capable of leveraging an entire state’s productive power to the benefit of at least 25% of the globe.

@308 the pessimist
When you say ” they “, the Ukranians, prostituted themselves to the west, the Ukranian.people sought help from the West against the Soviet style corruption, not knowing the their corruption was fully engaged in the form of Blinken and Nuland with the deepest level of corruption in the form of Joe Biden and his son. Add the corruption at the highest level of used car crooks and war criminals Cameron and Hague.
East European Ex- Soviet corruption meets USUKIS corruption and falls in love. Torturevrendition prisons are set up by USUKIS in every East European country, in order to collectively destroy the Middle East and Islam through rabid Islamism. Already The South Asian Muslim world has been neutralised by Sufism and radicalised by 300 years of Anglosaxon corruption.
The Northern hemisphere is a powder keg waiting to explode, and Ukraine is the fuse.
If Russia can safely extract itself from the West and build a new future with the East, the fuse will be extinguished.
It is Russia ‘s desire to be connected to the criminal West and its toxic United Nations, that is to blame here.
Russia should grasp the rope of its SCO and cut out the cancer of Toxic Atlantacist politics, not Ukraine.imho

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Two explosions rocked Kyiv early Monday following months of relative calm in the Ukrainian capital.
The explosions were heard by AP journalists and appeared to be the result of missiles strikes.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitchko reported explosions in the city’s central Shevchenko district. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

First strike on capital for many months
Paul Adams
Reporting from Kyiv
At least two explosions were heard in central Kyiv shortly after 08:00 local time (06:00 BST).
A BBC crew on the roof of our hotel witnessed one of the missile strikes. Air raid sirens had sounded about 90 minutes earlier.
This is the first time Kyiv has been hit for many months and the explosions also appear to be much more central than strikes earlier in the war.
There are reports of overnight attacks in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia as well.

Posted by: Melaleuca | Oct 10 2022 6:11 utc | 220

I repeat, even if the truck explosion is not a Ukr attack, it is now quite convenient for Russia. That bridge is a civilian infrastructure. Today’s missile arrivals in Kiev, if that news is true, is result of that Ukr/US/most probably UK foolishness.

Posted by: Paulg | Oct 10 2022 6:13 utc | 221

It could have been a triggered explosion but it seems even more complicated since the observers wouldn’t know how long unloading takes, and I assume they would need to have visual on the truck, which might expose them to being spotted should they loiter around, plus it seems the only place to trigger it would be from the bridge, behind the truck, making them stuck on the bridge, which is all possible, but they chance losing their cover later with all the security cameras. I also imagine that with the explosion being so large it seems very unlikely that it could be hidden from either drivers, or the people loading and unloading it. Again, it seems that it was a gasoline explosion judging by the fireball and the falling embers and not conventional explosives or fertilizer/ammonium nitrate. Theres a video from early in the SMO of a Ukranian truck blowing up at a distribution/depo as it’s getting loaded/unloaded, it claims to be weapons and has a fireball about a quarter as large as this explosion, but it hardly pulverizes the semi or the loading dock/building, the whole thing seems ducktapable! This explosion is much larger, almost all fireball and no visible shockwave (could be the low illumination), so hiding such device to create such a fireball seems improbable.
Do you have a link to the info claiming that the FSB are questioning the other driver? And yes , I’m aware the ukranazi have been salivating at the thought of blowing up the bridge, and it’s a “war” and I care because it interests me, why do you ask? Plus, I don’t know if the FSB know or don’t know exactly what happened, to me it looks like a suicide bombing, but maybe you know what they know.

The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, reported to Vladimir Putin that, without a doubt, the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge was staged by the Ukrainian special services. Moreover, citizens of Russia and foreign states participated in it at different stages of preparation.
– We have already established the route of the truck, where the explosion occurred. These are Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia, Krasnodar… Carriers have been established. With the help of FSB operatives, it was possible to identify suspects from among those who could prepare a terrorist act, Bastrykin emphasized.
According to the KP.RU website, two heavy vehicles were involved in this operation. The delivery scheme was as follows. The cargo – 22 pallets of film, 9 rolls each (one pallet weighs about a ton) – arrived by sea in the Georgian port of Poti from Bulgaria. The customer was a citizen of Ukraine. Then he was loaded onto a truck with foreign numbers, the driver communicated with the customer via WhatsApp. From Poti, the truck went to Armenia, where the cargo was cleared according to the rules of the Customs Union – they say this is a typical, unsuspicious route for truckers traveling to Russia – then the car entered the territory of the Russian Federation through the Verkhny Lars checkpoint. The one through which some Russians flee to Georgia from mobilization. The end point was the city of Armavir, where the pallets were reloaded onto another truck, which went towards the Crimea.
Apparently, the explosives were somehow planted in rolls of film. Moreover, it was not visible on the X-ray.
And it was made in Bulgaria. This means that in addition to Ukraine, foreign special services could also participate in the organization of this terrorist attack.
The driver of the first truck is already testifying. Most likely, like the driver of the second truck, he was used blindly and did not know that he was lucky.

What do you mean with “destroy steel”? Fire can for sure HEAT steel, causing BENDING and SOFTENING. In case of the WTC, the bending was the primary cause of the collapse. How? -> Read this post on MoA Jul 28 2022 19:14 utc | 242 here.
P.S. 1. typo: It’s “joist”; 2. “Fool” is a label with potential to backfire.
Posted by: OttoE | Oct 9 2022 19:35 utc | 116
Wrong. The metal beams of the WTCs were NOT melted or bent. The towers went down in their footprints, EXACTLY like a demolition. Also, building #7, which wasn’t even ostensibly hit by planes, went down in its footprint too. So how do you explain that? The metal beams were quickly sold to China and India even though they were evidence. The beams were perfectly straight, not melted or bent, they blew apart at their connections. There were photos and videos of these beams being collected to be sent to China and India.
The World Trade towers’ destruction was an INSIDE job of the U.S. government, and used to enact key agendas, one of which was a blank check for U.S. to wage wars wherever it wanted without U.S. citizens upset over soldiers dying in distant countries for oil or tribal feuds. George W. Bush smiled as he spoke of “infinite war” on the aircraft carrier. Also, they used the attack to implement “Homeland Security” and other violations of U.S. citizens’ freedom and strengthen government control. The “Covid” was another leap forward for government power and overreach.

No, the zoomed in explosion video appeared to show something moving under the bridge the instant before the detonation but the full video of the same view makes it clear that there is quite strong wind and natural waves. Also, the movement under the bridge is not well aligned with the area of maximum damage but the truck does seem to be aligned. Someone also pointed out that the side-rails are bent outwards, away from an explosion on the deck, and this does appear to be the case. I read that zoomed in video all wrong … the previously discovered semisubmersible bomb drone now seems unconnected to this new attack.
There is a lot of incandescent burning in the air and on the road surface after the explosion, this could be an incendiary added to the material in the truck or excess fertiliser (ammonium nitrate) causing the bitumen road surface to burn fiercely, which it probably would do given the heat after the explosion.

Tear your eyes away from the burniung bridge – two pieces of news which look to alter the course of the war and it’s outcome
1-MK Bhadrakumar reports on the ‘gamechanging OPEC+ production cuts
https://www.indianpunchline.com/opecs-body-blow-to-biden-presidency/
« Potentially, this could have an impact beyond the US-Saudi relationship and could change the security picture in West Asia more than anything since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. »
This is not hyperventilating, even the westie inclined oil major friendly OilPrice.com is allowing itself less than the usual doses of Russia Bad in favour of a more realistic account, along the very same lines as MKB
2-John Helmer’s report on RF ongoing degradation of the Ukie electrical grid to the point of closing it down
‘ “War is war, whether you want to use terms like hybrid war or proxy war. It means destroying the enemy’s capacity to make war. Shutting off the power in the rump Ukrainian state will do just that to the Ukrainians. If they then start to flee for refuge to Poland and Germany, this will be a disaster unparalleled in recent European history. Just the attendant collapse in telecommunications will make the place a madhouse. You can well imagine the rest. Already there are queues for water in Nikolaev, and who knows where else. How does queueing for water, if there is any, in temperatures of minus-20C to minus-40C sound? This won’t be like the blackouts from US sanctions and attacks in Cuba or Venezuela – there they didn’t have to worry about freezing to death, the pipes bursting, or irreparable damage being done to billions of dollars’ worth of pumping, electrical, and other equipment due to freezing.” »

❗️Ukraine is entering the Stone Age
According to Strana V, infrastructure problems have started in almost all of Ukraine – there is no electricity, water, and internet.
Eastern Ukraine has been hit hardest by the operation of backup lines. The main lines were hit earlier.
Western Ukraine also suffered critical infrastructure damage but continues to operate on backup lines from Poland.
“Thermal power plants and main enterprises in many cities have been damaged and the Ukrainian air defense system is overloaded,” a source told the channel.
A third wave of Russian strikes on AFU facilities is expected, he said.

The Danish Baltic Sea island of Bornholm is completely cut off from the power supply. This is reported by the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.
Rønne – The Danish island of Bornholm has been without electricity since 7.50 this morning (October 10). Like the Danish newspaper Extra Bladet announces that the entire Baltic Sea island is affected by the blackout.
Energy supplier BEOF reported at 8.35 a.m. that the cause of the failure was a broken cable, the Danish television station DR A spokesman for the company said that it was not known whether it was “on land or under water”. The line in question supplies Bornholm with electricity from mainland Sweden. Since the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines near the island’s coast were sabotaged just last week, it is unclear to what extent the blackout could be attributed to human intervention.

This seems to be the penultimate strike of its kind. From the grid perspective, this looks like it can still be balanced (e.g. grid can be brought back up), but now Ukraine will be electricity import reliant rather than exporting, heaping more misery on European consumers and raising the price drastically inside Ukraine. The NPPs don’t yet have to go into shutdown. One more strike like this, and the grid of Ukraine will be down for months. Look at the lead time on parts for the grid, particularly substation transformers… In Europe and US, good luck getting one within 18 months.
It affects train transport and fuel most pressingly, but if power is down as things start to freeze, then bursting pipes etc. will take down other infrastructure.

Posted by: dask | Oct 10 2022 8:40 utc | 276

🇷🇺❗Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said that “approaches to conducting a special military operation have been changed”
“I said from the first day of the SMO that if such actions to destroy the enemy’s infrastructure were taken every day, then we would have finished everything in May and the Kyiv regime would have been defeated. I hope that now the pace of the operation will not slow down,” Aksyonov added.

Kadyrov:
Zelensky complains about arrivals in Kiev and other cities.
And how did you, lokh-Zelensky, think: you can, but others can’t?
That is, for eight years it was possible to bomb civilians, destroy the infrastructure of LDPR cities, cover a nuclear power plant with shells, blow up bridges, fire at important objects, but as it flew on your head, so suddenly it became impossible for anyone?
We warned you, Zelensky, that Russia hasn’t really started yet, so stop complaining like a cheapie, and better, before it arrives, run. Run, Zelensky, run without looking back towards the West.
Now I am one hundred percent satisfied with the conduct of the FREE.

Massive missile fire on Ukraine
On this morning of October 10, most of the Ukrainian regions and major cities controlled by kyiv are hit by massive Russian missile fire.
According to Russian-speaking Telegram channels, at least 60 explosions were heard in kyiv, 47 in the Nikolayev region, 27 in the Vinnitsa region, 20 in Kharkov, 15 in Lvov and 15 in Odessa.
The plan of the Russians would thus include three phases of strikes and would be:
✔️ “overload” the Ukrainian air defense system;
✔️ destabilize the functioning of the energy system of Ukraine;
✔️ Hit military sites.
Ukrainian authorities and media report that throughout the country there are problems with electricity supply and Internet connection.
The video shows one of kyiv’s power plants being hit and on the image the drop in Internet traffic.

1. Sliding doors for shops cease to operate, you cannot even get inside; dark inside and the checkouts no longer work
2. ATMs and credit card payments stop.
3. All cold/chilled/frozen food in shops has to be destroyed
4. Petrol pumps no longer work
5. Gas boilers no longer work
6. Central heating pumps no longer work
7. Domestic fridges and freezers need to emptied and the contents buried asap
8. Water pressure drops to zero
9. Toilets cannot be flushed
10. No internet, no Mobile phones once back-up power at the towers is exhausted
11. Special local facilities with generators are literally vital for those with certain medical conditions
12. Long dark, hungry evenings with nothing to do except burn wood, if you can get it.
13. The good news however; selfie sticks and smart phone cameras can no longer be recharged…
