Whodunnit? - Facts Related to The Sabotage Attack On The Nord Stream Pipelines
For decades the U.S. opposed European projects to receive energy from Russia. It wants Europe to buy more expensive U.S. oil and gas.

Currently the U.S. is winning its war on Europe's, mainly Germany's, industries and people. Yesterday's sabotage attack on the Nord Stream I and II pipelines, which are supposed to bring Russian natural gas to Germany, mean that the the war on Germany has entered its hot phase.
A question remains: Whodunnit?
Russia has no motive to destroy the pipelines it owns. These are valuable, long term assets and the gas that escaped from them yesterday was on its own worth some $600 to $800 million.
A pipeline that could be turned off and on again was a leverage point for Russia that gave it some negotiation power. A destroyed pipeline gives Russia no leverage. This is truly elementary. One can not spin that away.
During the war in Ukraine Russia has not stopped to deliver gas to Europe as contractually agreed. Instead European countries, Poland, Ukraine and Germany have blocked overland and sub sea pipelines that brought gas to Germany.
German people have protested against the U.S. ordered shut down of the Nord Stream II pipeline. (Nord Stream I was recently offline because Siemens was prevented by sanctions from maintaining its compressor turbines.)

Yesterday's attack on the Nord Stream system is not unprecedented:
professional hog groomer @bidetmarxman - 15:51 UTC · Sep 27, 2022In 2015, the annual routine underwater survey of the Nord Stream 1 pipelines came across a remote operated vehicle rigged with explosives right next to one of the lines in Swedish waters.
The umbilical cable had been cut. The drone’s national origin was never disclosed. 🧵
In 2015 Pipeline Journal reported:
[T]he Swedish military has successfully cleared a remote operated vehicle (drone) rigged with explosives found near Line 2 of the Nord Stream Natural Gas offshore pipeline system. The vehicle was discovered during a routine survey operation as part of the annual integrity assessment of the Nord Stream pipeline. Since it was within the Swedish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) approximately 120 km away from the island of Gotland, the Swedes called on their armed forces to remove and ultimately disarm the object.
...
The national identity of the drone has not been verified so far, as many countries use Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) of a similar construction, [Jesper Stolpe, Swedish Armed Forces spokesman,] said.
To destroy a sub sea pipeline requires more than a ROV/drone delivered shaped charge.
Javier Blas @JavierBlas - 15:18 UTC · Sep 27, 2022How strong is a Nord Stream pipe? Quite!
The steel pipe itself has a wall of 4.1 centimeters (1.6 inches), and it's coated with another 6-11 cm of steel-reinforced concrete. Each section of the pipe weighs 11 tonnes, which goes to 24-25 tonnes after the concrete is applied.
It wasn't earthquakes that destroyed the pipelines. These were several well targeted and massive explosions:
A Swedish seismologist said on Tuesday he was certain the seismic activity detected at the site of the Nord Stream pipeline gas leaks in the Baltic Sea was caused by explosions and not earthquakes nor landslides.Bjorn Lund, seismologist at the Swedish National Seismic Network at Uppsala University, said seismic data gathered by him and Nordic colleagues showed that the explosions took place in the water and not in the rock under the seabed.
The targeted explosions were not small:
Dagny Taggart @DagnyTaggart963 - 15:56 UTC · Sep 27, 2022Swedish seismologists from Lund University noted that "at least 100 kg of TNT (perhaps more) were used to destroy the pipelines."

The Baltic Sea is controlled by NATO. This from June 2022:
"BALTOPS, with the high degree of complexity, tested our collective readiness and adaptability, while also highlighting the strength of our Alliance and resolve in providing a maritime domain with freedom of navigation for all," said Vice Adm. Gene Black, commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO).Led by U.S. Sixth Fleet, BALTOPS 22 was command and controlled by STRIKFORNATO. From the staff’s headquarters in Oeiras, Portugal, Rear Adm. James Morley, STRIKFORNATO deputy commander, was responsible for ensuring participants met all training objectives.
...
[Rear Adm. John Menoni, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Two,] also noted several instances in which forces stepped beyond know warfare methods to push limits with new technologies at sea and ashore. “Whether it was mine-hunting UUVs, persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance from an observable UAV, or demonstrating the value of the emerging Marine Corps concept of Expeditionary Advance Base Operations (EABO), our men and women continue to develop the tactics, techniques, and procedures that ultimately make meaningful contributions to Maritime Domain Awareness and increase the lethality of our forces.”At sea, ships fine-tuned tactical maneuvering, anti-submarine warfare, live-fire training, mine countermeasures operations, and replenishments at sea. The Swedish submarine participating in the exercise, the U.K.’s Daring-class air-defense destroyer HMS Defender (D 36), and aircraft from other participating nations trained in anti-submarine warfare. Meanwhile, mine operations served as an ideal area of focus for testing new technology.
Scientists from five nations brought the latest advancements in Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) mine hunting technology to the Baltic Sea to demonstrate the vehicle’s effectiveness in operational scenarios. The BALTOPS Mine Counter Measure Task Group ventured throughout the Baltic region practicing ordnance location, exploitation, and disarming in critical maritime chokepoints.
While the Baltops 22 maneuver already took place in June and July of this year the U.S. Sixth Fleet left the Baltic Sea only a few days ago (in German, my translation):
Big Fleet Group From U.S. Navy Passes [German island passage] FehmanbeltOn Wednesday morning the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, escorted by the Landing Ships USS Arlington and USS Gunston Hall, was en route towards west. Previously, the ships were part of US units that took part in NATO maneuvers and called at numerous ports in Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltic States.
The "USS Kearsarge", flagship of the association and largest warship of the US Navy, which was in action in the Baltic Sea in the last 30 years, has 40 helicopters and fighter planes as well as more than 2000 soldiers on board, the escort ships about 1000. For the around 4,000 soldiers are heading back home on the east coast of the US after their six-month deployment.
Parts of the Kearsange operations in the Baltic Sea were dedicated to test special sub sea mine destruction technologies:
A significant focus of BALTOPS every year is the demonstration of NATO mine hunting capabilities, and this year the U.S. Navy continues to use the exercise as an opportunity to test emerging technology, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa Public Affairs said June 14.In support of BALTOPS, U.S. Navy 6th Fleet partnered with U.S. Navy research and warfare centers to bring the latest advancements in unmanned underwater vehicle mine hunting technology to the Baltic Sea to demonstrate the vehicle’s effectiveness in operational scenarios.
Experimentation was conducted off the coast of Bornholm, Denmark, with participants from Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport, and Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring all under the direction of U.S. 6th Fleet Task Force 68.
Off the coast of Bornholm, Denmark, is where the pipelines were hit. Just days ago the USS Kearsarge was in that area:

All of them are Sikorsky MH-60S.
By superimposing the FFAB123 route on the scheme of yesterday's accident, we get a rather interesting result — the helicopter either flew along the Nord Stream-2 highway, or even between the points where the accident occurred.

The Baltic Pipe has a capacity of only 10 billion cubic meters per year. The Nord Stream system could carry up to 110 cubic meter per year. All of which is needed to keep Europe's industries running.
For more on Poland's involvement, likely in cooperation with the U.S., read these informed speculations by John Helmer:
The explosions at Bornholm are the new Polish strike for war in Europe against Chancellor Olaf Scholz. So far the Chancellery in Berlin is silent, tellingly.
The Poles should be reminded that other countries also have the capabilities to sabotage sub sea pipelines.
Radosław Sikorski is a former Minister of Defense and Foreign Minister of Poland. He is now a Member of the European Parliament. Yesterday he posted a picture of the gas escaping the damaged Nord Stream pipelines and thanked the U.S. for blowing them up.

Sikorski is married to the neoconservative writer Anne Appelbaum who is notorious for her anti-Russian and anti-German screeds widely published in U.S. media.
In 2014 during the Maidan coup in Ukraine another notorious neoconservative, Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, told the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, who should become the new prime minister of the Ukraine. She famously expressed her opinion about European concerns: "Fuck the EU" Nuland said. She is currently the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.
Over the last decades Germany has financed the Euro zone with up to 1.24 trillion Euros. (See also this thread). This was possible because Germany was exporting lots of industrial products and had a yearly surplus from its trade. With Germany's industry going down because a lack of cheap energy that surplus will vanish. Europe, all of it, will become a poor continent.
Philip Pilkington @philippilk - 21:23 UTC · Sep 27, 20229/ The European energy war will likely go down in history, together with the Treaty of Versailles and the trade wars of the 1930s, as one of the biggest economic policy errors in history.
10/ Another thing: when Trump was elected on a platform of milder protectionism, many people rightly pointed to the 1920s and 1930s and warned against these policies. These same people appear to have supported these much more 1920s/30s-like policies this past year. Ironic.
This does not happen by chance or fate. It is part of a long term neoconservative plan for continued U.S. supremacy over the world. The Anglo-American axis is the only party to benefit from the recent events.
The U.S. allegedly warned Germany of sabotage of the Nord Stream system (in German).
This reminds of President Joe Biden's warning of a Russian invasion in Ukraine early this year.
It is easy to predict such events when you are the one who intends to cause them.
The U.S. knew that the Ukraine was going to launch an attack on the Donbas republics. The U.S. knew that Russia would intervene to help its brethren. Russia had said so. The Ukrainian attack started with artillery preparations on February 17. Russia intervened on February 24.
The above is a collection of the currently available facts. You can draw your own conclusions from them.

Just translated an article with a good analysis of what happened.
USA has made repeated threats against Nord Stream 2.
Videos up on YouTube showing both Biden and Nuland recently threatening NS2 plus many, many videos where US politicians claiming NS2 should be shut down for years.
So US had the political motive, the military means, will benefit financially and SAID they would destroy it.
Then, a high ranking Polish official friendly with US regime publicly thanks US for destroying it.
At this point, why is there even a discussion about who did it?

You know, the ordinary Poles I have met are very nice and decent folks, Poles have a great culture, cuisine and all. But it's something with their political leadership which has had this talent to really piss off all neighbours, repeatingly, throughout history. Always to a degree where those neighbours will simply go and beat the crap out of Poland. And then they start whining how unfair the world is to them. Why on earth can't they just co-exist in peace with their neighbours? Why always these self-illusions of being this great invincible empire?

Known Russia-loving Putinophile (sarcasm off) Craig Murray minces no words.
German state media Tagesschau reports about it and in a tremendous feat of self-control manages to not blame Russia or Putin for it. The article doesn't even contain the word "Putin" and contains "Russia" only once in a sentence listing countries that suspect deliberate sabotage. Despite everyone mentioned being sure that a state actor is behind this, Russia is not accused a single time. The article is surprisingly tame given what they write about Ukraine every day. Rare!
Rest in peace, Europe. You reap what you sow. See you in hell!

> Russia has no motive to destroy the pipelines it owns. These are valuable, long term assets and the gas that escaped from them yesterday was on its own worth some $600 to $800 million.
This reads like borderline nonsense. NS1 was already shut down because of contrived "maintenance" issues, clearly driving up pressure on EU, not on Russia. The sudden "malfunction" of parts seems part of a well-known strategy in the energy wars.. But maintenance issues cannot be used forever and running contracts would demand delivery even before the winter. This sabotage clears the issue without breaking any contract. And it even has multiple suspects!
How is this not in Russia's immediate interest? They are long term assets indeed and the damage can easily be repaired on the longer term, at least months to a year. The gas was not moving in the pipes and not going anywhere, making a loss already (compensated for Russia in overall pricing and increased Eastern trade).
Now again, how is the incident not in Russia's interest? It's not hurting the USA as well but this is not a reason to stop suspecting Russia. They have all the means and some motive. And certainly motive to protect and monitor the area if it was so important to keep safe. Actually there appears to have been a lot of monitoring, making it all the more likely only advanced submarines could do the job in secret. And Russia had those in the area for months, stealthy. It's not a secret they're there. Fully aware of course the US was also navigating ships in the area. But that fact can be used to mean simply what it needs to mean.
Letting Russia of the hook from the get go sounds to me like a highly ideological and naive type of reasoning. This is not a "clean" war as it's about existential being of world powers. And that war has started long time ago. And what kind of actions would be out of bounds with such a conflict?

Tape scandal: 'Polish-American alliance worthless' says foreign minister
So, there's a light possibility that Sikorski is being darkly, perversely sarcastic. At 2014, when he had a chance to become EU foreign policy chief, he supposedly said the following:
You know that Polish-American alliance is worth nothing. It's even harmful, because it creates a fake sense of safety. Total bullshit, we'll get conflicted with Germany and Russia and we'll think everything is ok, because we sucked American's dick . Losers, complete losers……The problem in Poland is we have a very shallow pride and low self-esteem
Sikorski had an enormous role to play that fatal year.

How does Russia benefit from orchestrating such a false flag operation?
Towards its own population? Doesn't make sense, by and large the population of Russia is squarely behind Putin.
Towards the West? As we can see, the majority of the western population is completely brainwashed and is already jumping on the "Putin did it" bandwagon. You the first. Those who don't will be vilified as Putinverstehers.
Towards its SCO partners? If it comes out that Russia did this, its credibility w.r.t. to SCO partners is completely demolished.

@john buddy why would they blow up the pipelines as those pipelines r essential to drive a wedge between eu and us when winter comes calling or when industries with high energy demands getting bankrupted in mass. These take time to fix which actually give us more time to sabotage a deal if it was in motion.
Russia doesn't give that much care about what eu or us thinks aa long as the plausible deniability option exists and they can carry on maintenence indefinitely without blowing up their own assets.
U do realize they stole Russian overseas assets so Russia has very little to lose and need not come up with better excuse to carry out their maintenence indefinitely until eu comes to it's senses

The US did it, most probably by their own hand, or maybe through a friendly hand.
IMO however this fiasco is entirely of Scholz'making.
Had there be a firm and unequivocal German NEIN to the US demand to shut Nordstream on February 25, just like ally Turkey did about their own vital supplies, then the Germans would be beautifully supplied, Germany would enjoy a stronger position (much like Turkey does), and none of THIS would have happened.
Subservience has a high cost.
P.S.
If the US had done this thing to their Greek ally, a regime change against NATO would be in progress in Athens right now.

Incidental to the amerikan attack on Nordstream 2, elements in this thread appear determined to demonstrate the ignorance & poor quality education of amerikans. Some particularly intellectually challenged septic tank has linked to an article claiming that the leader of the nazi party in germany throughout ww2 must have been a double agent because i he was a jew and ii he didn't hate jews enough. That made him a double agent? Only an ignorant amerikan raised on the lie that the allies went into ww2 over the treatment of jews could have dreamt up that nonsense. The causes of ww2 were many and varied but none of them had anything to do with jews who copped shit all over the world at that time. amerika passed a special act to allow einstein and a few other jews who could aid amerika in but the vast majority of jew refugees were knocked back. england & france were equally bad for knocking back jews turning up from germany. That is one of the root causes of the zionist occupation of Palestine.
I dunno what these indescribably ignorant types who have turned up here this year are for, but I wish they could be a bit more creative in their asinine stupidity then at least we could get a larf outta them.

The language Blinken used in his comments "it's in no one's interest" if it were sabotage make me think it's the Poles. The usual US denial language would be very different to that and Blinken is well-versed in how to do it. The statement from Sikorski, who is no longer in the Polish cabinet but once was, makes me think that there had been discussions with the Americans or perhaps just the neocons in State like Nuland about doing it with them.
So it seems to me that this is probably another example of Poland and the Baltics escalating things beyond what the Americans want since the US prefers this to remain a proxy war fought with Ukrainian blood and soil not a real one with NATO risking nuclear war. The Poles on the other hand are constantly trying to get the West to fight a proxy war on Russia on their behalf. Possibly thinking that the US will stop it going nuclear but constantly probing for new ways to escalate hostilities. We even saw Blinken put into an awkward situation before with the whole MiG fiasco where the Poles were unilaterally trying to escalate things in a way that implicated all of NATO with him having to humiliatingly make clear it was not a prelude to NATO involvement with the Russians.
In the end the aircraft were delivered but under much more low-key circumstances so as not to boil the frog too quickly. (And long after their strategic value had declined) The situation engineered by Poland which evinced a seemingly endless tolerance for bringing things to war put the US on the spot.
The neocons picked badly when they picked their collaborators in Warsaw.

One thing the presence of USN ships and helps proves is the mendacity of Western media - Russia could not possibly have done anything to its sovereign property under the watchful - nay - intrusive eyes of US naval assets !!!
It was not Trump who first opposed gas pipelines from Russia but Ronald Reagan in 1982 who opposed the pipelines across Ukraine to Germany..........Germany then had leaders with backbone who resisted his interference.
Germany had been skewered by USA and Poland with latter hoping to be US attack dog to keep Germany in check but more likely;y simply Ukraine II awaiting that 1939 Epiphany when the Polish regime imploded and never even formed a government in exile (that was the opposition party !)
Germans are not "Erfinder von Pulver" and are very "tolpatschig" as evidenced by Scholz and Co and stumblebums like Baerbock and Habeck and Lindner. They are dead meat.
The turmoil in Germany will be a wonder to behold now corporate Germany knows there is no point in investing in Germany - Russia, China, USA - offer much better prospects for corporate survival.
Every German business has signs - if not adverts on buses - trying to recruit "Nachwuchs" and "Azubis". Lockdown accelerated the demographic wastage as many took early retirement......now Germany lacks a workforce and energy.......but has imported 1,000,000 Ukies to integrate with the welfare system

Having deniability matters when you are concerned about retaliation. While the Poles are fine with what happened it may be important that they are not directly involved, and the same can be said for UK/US/NATO.
I am interested in the links Florian Warweg provided (via Steve Mcintyre) : https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news-and-latest-activity/news/2022/august/26/20220826-royal-navy-divers-train-ukrainians-to-hunt-for-mines-with-underwater-drones
If the actual actions were done by Ukrainians then there is a level of deniability and an avoidance of direct participation similar to NATO fighting in Ukraine through Ukrainians but not directly.
I suspect then that Sikorski showed blatant disregard for the rule of deniability because he was not part of the decisionmaking. He was just well informed. And probably he can't be trusted to shut up. Who would UK and US really need to inform for this action? The timing suggests they take in account Polish interests and that should be enough.

Reconcile this statement with your assertion that Scholz stopped Nordstream 2 AFTER the Russian entry into Ukraine..........a) it was 22 Feb when Scholz did so - 2 days BEFORE
b). On 16 November 2021 the German regulatory authority (BNetzA) suspended the procedure to certify Nord Stream 2 (NS2 AG) as an independent transmission operator (ITO) of the NS2 pipeline, 10 weeks after it had accepted its certification application on 8 September 2021.

from telegram...
Negotiations will continue until 3:00 3 October 2022 in Riyadh between representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the AFU Ministry of Defense, and also between Moscow and Washington on the traditional closed communication line. In Riyadh representatives of the General Staff are deciding the fate of relations between Kiev and Moscow in the event of a consensus between Washington and Moscow. The fate of Zelensky, Ermak, Podolyak, Arahamia and the heads of all non-military security agencies, including the heads of the National Security and Defense Council and the Verkhovna Rada are also being discussed.
Successful negotiations will culminate in the signing of a multilateral treaty between US, EU, Russian Federation, and Ukraine, which will later be supported by the UN Security Council and the entire General Assembly.
If negotiations fail, we might see a countdown.
Plan B will not be very happy for the world.
The big war scenario could be like this: Ukraine will be given 24 hours to surrender or Gas Transmission System and Thermal Power Plants will be rolled back to 18 century, then another 24 hour ultimatum and the Dnieper bridges, then 72 hours and a missile rain on Odessa and Nikolaev, before it the swarm of UAV will destroy the air defense in these areas, then a landing in Odessa and a massive tank march to Nikolaev and a landing from the Crimea in Transnistria to the Tiraspol airfield. The chances are good.
A response to NATO joining the war (in case they try to transfer PMCs and volunteers from the territory of Poland) has been worked out. For a month already the planes have been flying from Belarus, rehearsing the strikes of a 25-kiloton hypersonic missile with a nuclear tactical part. Zelenski, Ermak and the Verkhovna Rada will become legitimate targets.
The U.S. can attempt to hit with tactical nuclear weapons the Black Sea Fleet or liberated territories, including ZNPP, with a wind rose in Russia's direction, but everyone knows how Russia will respond to this. Evacuation exercises in case of threat of nuclear strikes or man-made disasters are already underway in Poland, the Czech Republic and the Baltic states.
You still talking about the Cuban Missile Crisis? This one could be very different, unheard-of. Let the negotiations be successful.

Article 5 supposedly obligates all of Nato to come to the defense of any one member if they are attacked. It doesn't matter if it was the US, UK, Denmark, Holland, Germany or Poland, the sabotage was an attack by one or more Nato members on Russia. If Russia retaliates against any of these members, then all of Nato will ostensibly be at the same level of "war footing" with Russia as the country that Russia retaliates against.
Russia therefore needs to set a time limit for all Nato members to publicly declare their non-involvement in the sabotage and their refusal to participate in any counter actions against Russia in relation to this sabotage. Of course this will not happen, but then after the time limit has expired, Russia will have the same degree of justification for a preemptive strike on Nato that it had for the SMO against Ukraine.

Why would EU be so furious that the pipeline have been damaged anyway? They do not even want to have russian gas! THey only seek a reason to start a full blown war with Russia.

The sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines means a significant deindustrialization for Germany in, at least, the near to medium term.
Since Germany currently has the largest economy in Europe it follows that the EU will suffer severe economic damage.
Other European countries will also be negatively impacted by high energy prices.
The West will not stand idly by as Eurasia prospers using affordable Russian energy and the massive industrial bases in China, India and the rest of Asia while, simultaneously, the collective West stagnates.
It will therefore be necessary to engineer a massive attack on the well-being of Eurasia...all options will be on the table.

The whole "Russia did it" is a much harder sell ,even to a largely ignorant populace, than "Russia is shelling the NPP" they occupy. Your average citizen would be both horrified and terrified that Russia could get that close to Europe undetected. So in objectively you have 2 possibilites
1. NATO did it (pick your perpetrator)
2. Someone else did it (pick your perpetrator), and NATO failed to detect it
In either case, why should NATO exist?

...She famously expressed her opinion about European concerns: "Fuck the EU" Nuland said. She is currently the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.
Apologies for being so insistent on this point, but Nuland's famous quote wasn't an expression of contempt toward the EU. The context provided by the transcript you cite makes it clear that she didn't mean "To Hell with the EU!". No, Nuland was evidently articulating an important goal of the operation: to purposely harm the EU.
Nuland: OK. He's now gotten both Serry and [UN Secretary General] Ban Ki-moon to agree that Serry could come in Monday or Tuesday. So that would be great, I think, to help glue this thing and to have the UN help glue it and, you know, Fuck the EU.
This, in fact, ties in completely with the underlying theme of b's past two articles.

It is more than just Germany. The whole of the EU, particularly the south is now in uncharted territory. The Financial part; that German industry was supporting the South by means of the TARGET system, whereby Germany was owed 1.2 trillion euros - with no hope of getting them back. This is going to be the "interesting" part if Germany decides it needs its money back now, as might be expected from bankruptcy cases, or to pay down debt interests that no longer can be covered by income/revenue. It can no longer afford to indirectly support Europe.
So, who ever sank the NS1 and 2 has also sunk the EU. The only people who might gain from this are the US. Whether or not they were the ones, (and I think they were) or the Poles or someone else, the vampire Corporations with their money conveniently parked in derivatives will swoop in.

Maybe here is the right place to ask.
Isnt the reason for a lot of sinking ships the leakage of gas from seaground which is then changing the density of the water?
Wouldnt any ship that gets close to the leak sink?
Is the baltic sea passable at the moment?

On one hand I think RF should simply announce their conclusion of US culpability and target USS Kearsarge plus escorts in open sea with one of its ICBMs, sufficient to reduce the whole group to pieces no larger than a fingernail. Let all the hard-cases and winners of Yankee covert war reflect on that and take it from there.
On the other, that’s not RF’s way and NS1/2 are not that big a problem for RF, if Germany’s current political class won’t even speak up from the sidelines then there’s no reason for RF to do anything more that preserve whatever diplomatic options it can at least cost to itself. Ukraine matters to RF so maybe they just up their Call Out Charge on that front and get what they came for.

Posted by: John Dowser | Sep 28 2022 10:26 utc | 11
Very, very stretched argument. In the war of sanctions, contracts do not matter. Russian assets were frozen, confiscated and nationalized by hundreds of billions, what type of "contract environment" it is.
On the other hand, Germans now know that would they change their mind about importing NG from Russia, ground pipelines can be blocked by Poles and Ukrainians, and undersea pipelines can be mined again by USA, as many times as needed.

Summing up the facts very neatly. Much appreciated.
Also NS1+NS2 consisted of 4 strings. 3 Have been blown up by the party Sikorsky was grateful to. 1 NS2 String is still available. Presumably there might still be an unexploded device available unless it did explode but didn't manage to rip through the sea bed to reach the string. It could also be an excuse (and lifeline) for Germany to open finally open up NS2... or the remainder of it.

When Americans say "F the EU" they mean it. The Russians know it. Europeans apparently still don't get it.
It seems like in one stroke the US has managed to screw both Europe and Russia. The craziest part is that the dumb Europeans can't even act outraged with the US for hitting a pipeline they have shown no interest in using. Yet NS1 was also hit, so it doesn't get much more serious than this really.
I am still shocked and outraged that NATO 'allies' would conspire to attack critical civilian infrastructure of a major European country, in fact the largest and up until yesterday, the most powerful. Perhaps the only thing that could add to this outrage, will be seeing no Germans outside the US and Polish embassies protesting, while tens of thousands were more than happy to protest outside the Russian one for invading a country their own German Gov't conspired to be invaded..
Regardless, if NS1 and NS2 are out of action, it means both Germany and Russia now need to play nice with both Ukraine and Poland, lest the former wanna risk freezing, and the latter go without some much needed cash.
You would think the logical solution would be to drop the "Putin Bad" act, and work together to find a way to screw the US back with some of its own medicine.
I have no faith in Germany or Europe, but what can and will Russia do now to respond?

How strong is a Nord Stream pipe? Quite!
The steel pipe itself has a wall of 4.1 centimeters (1.6 inches), and it's coated with another 6-11 cm of steel-reinforced concrete. Each section of the pipe weighs 11 tonnes, which goes to 24-25 tonnes after the concrete is applied.

I stand amazed at the twists and turns western propaganda believers must put themselves through in order to keep believing. Save the narrative at all costs!
There are no “maintenance issues”. The Russians simply point to sanctions as a source for them. It would have gone on as long as sanctions last. Even forever. EU sanctioned them, Russia has no contractual liability. They can talk about it but EU refuses.
You really believe that Russia blew the pipes to avoid some unknown but eminent contract deadline? Because that is the gist of your argument.
The sabotage has cleared only one issue: even if sanctions ate lifted, there will be no gas to EU. Gee, who benefits from that?
As for the rest of your agruments, they are a mish-mash of western narrative points. Russia allegedly has the capabilities to track every single cm of thousand km long pipes, three of them, under the sea in hostile territory. Allegedly with some stealth stuff. But on the other hand they are failing and running out of ammo and killing civilians because of incompetence, losing to Himars etc. Which one of these is it then?

Blowing up NS1 is not in the interest of Russia. The gas field that is being tapped for NS1 (Bovanenkovo) will be used for the Power of Siberia pipeline to China. This would have given Russia leverage over China and the EU. Without NS1, this gas field only provides gas to China, which now gives China leverage.

Please be aware that only one of the two NS2 pipelines got destroyed - whereas both already dysfunctional NS1 pipelines got blown up.
Russia AND Germany now have good reasons to argue that NS2 MUST open if there shall any gas be transported- cause NS1 is destroyed.
Russia already re-planned the whole of NS2 gas volume for their new Siberia pipeline and announced this publicly.
The still reserved NS1 capacity - which couldn´t be used in the last weeks without working compressor turbines , on the other hand, is exactly what the remaining pipe of NS2 can transport. Russia is actually now in a very comfortable situation. On the one hand, the sabotage action is splitting the west over those evil sabotage acts, and still through the remaining pipe, they have an important geopolitical lever in their hand.

Why is Ukraine not being mentioned as a possible culprit?
The reality is that all you need is a moderately powerful naval metal detector. You can buy one for $1000 to $5000.
Next: a moderate amount of explosives. If in fact the pipelines are only 500 feet from the surface at those spots, as is claimed Greg Galloway in post #53, it is hardly a fancy combat engineering exercise at that point.
Ukraine is the entity most to benefit from forcing Germany off any possibility of Nord Stream gas - their pipelines are the only ones that can replace NS1 capacity.
Yamal cannot - it can only throughput 33 bcm.
Ukraine's pipelines, in contrast, have an export capacity of 178 bcm.

I am curious how a US Navy's helicopter movements could be tracked and their history of flights be traceable on public websites, i know Pelosi's plane was traceable, but it seems odd how traces of such a sensitive operation could be a matter of OSINT after the fact. "The Russians did it. I was wind surfing the Baltic Sea at 2 am, and a small sub surfaced, the captain was wearing a St. George's ribbon and told me that wasn't safe for a Khokhol faggot to be doing that here. I ignored him and carried on. Moments later my board sank due to negative buoyancy from gas in the water. I swam here and immediately made a statement to police."

"...england & france were equally bad for knocking back jews turning up from germany..." debsisdead@24
Canada too: "One is too many" was the quote attributed to a top government official. As a matter of fact the UK's record on this was not too bad- many of the Jews currently being expelled from the Labour Party for the thought crime of anti-imperialism are the children of Jews who came over- often smuggled by socialists such as the great Scots poet Hamish Henderson.
All the children in the Kindertransport schemes were saved despite the Zionists who fought tooth and nail to divert all refugees to Palestine and deliberately sabotaged other plans.
Zionists were active in encouraging governments, such as that in Canada, not to accept Jewish refugees.
This isn't a bad story from the Washington Post. At the end you might notice a cameo appearance from the charming Banderaites too:

This tweet says sabotage occurred where the Baltic Sea is only 70 meters deep h/t NakedCapitalism
source
1. Circumstances The leak is near the Danish island of Bornholm, at 54.8762°, 15.4099° in ~70 meters of water. This would be divable2 things do make it suspicious:
a) It is just over 12 nautical miles from the Island in International waters
b) the EEZ here is disputed here (?)
The above is followed by many more points noting that most of Russian capabilities in the Baltic sea are either known NOT to be there or are old/scrapped.

Re public osint
Train spotting has gone to a whole new level.
There’s “autists” who sit on threads for days at a time watching flightrader and marine trakker.
Over at 4chan they have “skyking” threads dedicated to watching exactly the sort of activity that took place in the Baltics.
In December 21 I lurked a thread and watched the US conduct practice nuclear bombing runs from RAF Fairford over Sweden and Poland, doing a very sharp pullout mere kms from Russian airspace.
I also lurked threads where UK Rivet4 drone got bored with doing surveillance runs along the Crimea airspace to Sochi and back, and decided to do a flyover directly down the belly of Crimea and back into Ukraine. This was January 2022.
None of this gets reported. You and billions more have absolutely no clue about what’s really happening ….. which is how the Controllers want it…

It isn't really a question of who dun it. This seems very obvious and it is primarily the US that is responsible. The real question is what will be the next move. If I were in charge on the victim side (who that is is a big question as it could be seen as either Germany, Russia, or both) I would do a tit-for-tat on the Polish pipeline or sink an LNG tanker or two but Russia never does things this way. They will be slow to respond and when they do it will be something way off at a tangent perhaps destroying the US base at Al Tanf or something similar. Russia won't do something evil that causes harm to the environment if they can avoid it. The real next thing to watch for is the next move by the US who obviously believes they are impervious. Germany will do nothing as they are complicit. The German people, on the other hand, will be moved one tick further towards the tipping point and when that finally happens (perhaps in Spring) look out as it will be bonfires and pitchforks. Reasonable people would expect Germany to kick out all US military as a response but that certainly won't happen. It might happen in Italy though.

It is true that gas shortages in Europe hurt France too - but it is also true that they hurt France the least (thank you, nuclear power). Destroying Germany as a rival in continental Europe has been a French primary objective since the formation of Germany in 1865 (and prevention of German unity was a goal for centuries before that).
Hmmm.

B, a big thank you, this is much appreciated!
Don't know if it has already been covered...
Do we know when exactly the BALTOPS22 took place, start and end date perhaps? I couldn't find anything at first glance. The reason why I'm asking, the Baltic is covered by United States Naval Forces Europe-Africa (CNE-CNA). Said CNE-CNA also hosts the BALTOPS excercises. Now it just so happens that CNE-CNA very recently had a change of command. One Adm. Robert P. Burke, an entirely nondescript person, was relieved of his post of Commander CNE-CNA. He retired as scheduled. In came one Adm. Stuart B. Munsch as Burke's successor. That guy is anything but nondescript. He was a Rhodes Scholar (I learned from the MoA forum how significant that is). He's also an individual member of the Council on Foreign Relations, which is somewhat odd. They don't have many military people as members. Burke certainly isn't a member, in contrast to Munsch. I find that all very peculiar.
So, any information on the dates? Or any thoughts about the command aspect in general?

With the onset of the cold season, a protest movement was just forming with the demand to open NS2. And to keep energy prices affordable. It was expected that this movement would grow massively over time and organise larger demonstrations. Now one of the key demands is purely physically impossible. So the government cannot give in to the pressure of the people. Even if it wanted to.
It is like a junkie disposing of the last of his supplies so as not to relapse if the withdrawal symptoms become worse than the will to persevere.
This is how you create a fait accompli when you are not sure of your own loyalty and submission to the hegemon.
Even if Europe wakes up, no quick course correction is possible.
Given the hubris of the current German leaders, I think this is just as likely a scenario as a perpetration by the USA or Poland.
We will never know, or not for many years. But maybe it will be irrelevant then.
Our systems have become so complex that they are no longer controllable.
The world is really screwed.
And I want to open up a little conspiracy theory as the reason for all the madness:
That most powerful people are sociopaths is well known. The planet is too crowded, systems too complex for real change, climate change is real. From a sociopathic point of view, it makes sense to provoke a limited nuclear war. It will cool the earth two to three degrees, billions of people will die as a result, Europe will be nuclear desert, but Africa would be a largely safe place to repopulate after leaving the bunkers.... No fallout, fertile land, few survivors to be expected. Just let things take their course and all the problems of current humanity would be solved. From the perspective of a narcissistic elite, globally networked and already beyond the concept of nation, this is quite possible.
Machine translated from German.

If NATO controls the Baltic Sea, then how could the Russians have conducted such an operation without being spotted in the process?
Posted by: HERMIUS | Sep 28 2022 13:59 utc | 97
Now there are two excellent pieces on the pipeline sabotage. John Helmer's latest:
The Bornholm Blow-Up Repeats the Bornholm Bash - Poland Attacks Germany and Blames Russia
"The military operation on Monday night which fired munitions to blow holes in the Nord Stream I and Nord Stream II pipelines on the Baltic Sea floor, near Bornholm Island, was executed by the Polish Navy and special forces.
It was aided by the Danish and Swedish military; planned and coordinated with US intelligence and technical support; and approved by the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The operation is a repeat of the Borholm Bash operation of April 2021, which attempted to sabotage Russian vessels laying the gas pipes, but ended in ignominious retreat by the Polish forces. That was a direct attack on Russia.
This time the attack is targeting the Germans..."

I forgot my guess: May be the Germans themselves did it. Because of....look at 99.

“……how could the Russians…”
Because like all super villains.
Russians simultaneously are as stoopid as a box of rocks, and devilishly clever, conniving and capable of feats that defy logic, physics and gravity.
