Whodunnit? – Facts Related to The Sabotage Attack On The Nord Stream Pipelines

For decades the U.S. opposed European projects to receive energy from Russia. It wants Europe to buy more expensive U.S. oil and gas.

Europe's, and especially Germany's industry, depends on cheap energy from Russia. Without it Europe will be de-industrialized and go broke.

The U.S. had threatened to disable the pipelines connecting Europe to Russia.

Currently the U.S. is winning its war on Europe's, mainly Germany's, industries and people. Yesterday's sabotage attack on the Nord Stream I and II pipelines, which are supposed to bring Russian natural gas to Germany, mean that the the war on Germany has entered its hot phase.

A question remains: Whodunnit?

Russia has no motive to destroy the pipelines it owns. These are valuable, long term assets and the gas that escaped from them yesterday was on its own worth some $600 to $800 million.

A pipeline that could be turned off and on again was a leverage point for Russia that gave it some negotiation power. A destroyed pipeline gives Russia no leverage. This is truly elementary. One can not spin that away.

During the war in Ukraine Russia has not stopped to deliver gas to Europe as contractually agreed. Instead European countries, Poland, Ukraine and Germany have blocked overland and sub sea pipelines that brought gas to Germany.

German people have protested against the U.S. ordered shut down of the Nord Stream II pipeline. (Nord Stream I was recently offline because Siemens was prevented by sanctions from maintaining its compressor turbines.)

In 2015, the annual routine underwater survey of the Nord Stream 1 pipelines came across a remote operated vehicle rigged with explosives right next to one of the lines in Swedish waters.
The umbilical cable had been cut. The drone’s national origin was never disclosed. 🧵

In 2015 Pipeline Journal reported:

[T]he Swedish military has successfully cleared a remote operated vehicle (drone) rigged with explosives found near Line 2 of the Nord Stream Natural Gas offshore pipeline system.

The vehicle was discovered during a routine survey operation as part of the annual integrity assessment of the Nord Stream pipeline. Since it was within the Swedish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) approximately 120 km away from the island of Gotland, the Swedes called on their armed forces to remove and ultimately disarm the object.

The national identity of the drone has not been verified so far, as many countries use Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) of a similar construction, [Jesper Stolpe, Swedish Armed Forces spokesman,] said.

To destroy a sub sea pipeline requires more than a ROV/drone delivered shaped charge.

Javier Blas @JavierBlas – 15:18 UTC · Sep 27, 2022

How strong is a Nord Stream pipe? Quite!
The steel pipe itself has a wall of 4.1 centimeters (1.6 inches), and it's coated with another 6-11 cm of steel-reinforced concrete. Each section of the pipe weighs 11 tonnes, which goes to 24-25 tonnes after the concrete is applied.

It wasn't earthquakes that destroyed the pipelines. These were several well targeted and massive explosions:

A Swedish seismologist said on Tuesday he was certain the seismic activity detected at the site of the Nord Stream pipeline gas leaks in the Baltic Sea was caused by explosions and not earthquakes nor landslides.

Bjorn Lund, seismologist at the Swedish National Seismic Network at Uppsala University, said seismic data gathered by him and Nordic colleagues showed that the explosions took place in the water and not in the rock under the seabed.

The targeted explosions were not small:

Dagny Taggart @DagnyTaggart963 – 15:56 UTC · Sep 27, 2022

Swedish seismologists from Lund University noted that "at least 100 kg of TNT (perhaps more) were used to destroy the pipelines."

Here is where the pipelines were hit:

The Baltic Sea is controlled by NATO. This from June 2022:

"BALTOPS, with the high degree of complexity, tested our collective readiness and adaptability, while also highlighting the strength of our Alliance and resolve in providing a maritime domain with freedom of navigation for all," said Vice Adm. Gene Black, commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO).

Led by U.S. Sixth Fleet, BALTOPS 22 was command and controlled by STRIKFORNATO. From the staff’s headquarters in Oeiras, Portugal, Rear Adm. James Morley, STRIKFORNATO deputy commander, was responsible for ensuring participants met all training objectives.

[Rear Adm. John Menoni, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Two,] also noted several instances in which forces stepped beyond know warfare methods to push limits with new technologies at sea and ashore. “Whether it was mine-hunting UUVs, persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance from an observable UAV, or demonstrating the value of the emerging Marine Corps concept of Expeditionary Advance Base Operations (EABO), our men and women continue to develop the tactics, techniques, and procedures that ultimately make meaningful contributions to Maritime Domain Awareness and increase the lethality of our forces.”

At sea, ships fine-tuned tactical maneuvering, anti-submarine warfare, live-fire training, mine countermeasures operations, and replenishments at sea. The Swedish submarine participating in the exercise, the U.K.’s Daring-class air-defense destroyer HMS Defender (D 36), and aircraft from other participating nations trained in anti-submarine warfare. Meanwhile, mine operations served as an ideal area of focus for testing new technology.

Scientists from five nations brought the latest advancements in Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) mine hunting technology to the Baltic Sea to demonstrate the vehicle’s effectiveness in operational scenarios. The BALTOPS Mine Counter Measure Task Group ventured throughout the Baltic region practicing ordnance location, exploitation, and disarming in critical maritime chokepoints.

While the Baltops 22 maneuver already took place in June and July of this year the U.S. Sixth Fleet left the Baltic Sea only a few days ago (in German, my translation):

Big Fleet Group From U.S. Navy Passes [German island passage] Fehmanbelt

On Wednesday morning the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, escorted by the Landing Ships USS Arlington and USS Gunston Hall, was en route towards west. Previously, the ships were part of US units that took part in NATO maneuvers and called at numerous ports in Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltic States.

The "USS Kearsarge", flagship of the association and largest warship of the US Navy, which was in action in the Baltic Sea in the last 30 years, has 40 helicopters and fighter planes as well as more than 2000 soldiers on board, the escort ships about 1000. For the around 4,000 soldiers are heading back home on the east coast of the US after their six-month deployment.

Parts of the Kearsange operations in the Baltic Sea were dedicated to test special sub sea mine destruction technologies:

A significant focus of BALTOPS every year is the demonstration of NATO mine hunting capabilities, and this year the U.S. Navy continues to use the exercise as an opportunity to test emerging technology, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa Public Affairs said June 14.

In support of BALTOPS, U.S. Navy 6th Fleet partnered with U.S. Navy research and warfare centers to bring the latest advancements in unmanned underwater vehicle mine hunting technology to the Baltic Sea to demonstrate the vehicle’s effectiveness in operational scenarios.

Experimentation was conducted off the coast of Bornholm, Denmark, with participants from Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport, and Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring all under the direction of U.S. 6th Fleet Task Force 68.

Off the coast of Bornholm, Denmark, is where the pipelines were hit. Just days ago the USS Kearsarge was in that area:

On September 2, interesting maneuvers performed by an American helicopter with the call sign FFAB123. Then it was assumed that this board was from the USS Kearsarge air wing, and today more details were looked.

According to the website ads-b.nl , this call sign was used by 6 boards that day, of which we managed to establish the side numbers of three. All of them are Sikorsky MH-60S.

By superimposing the FFAB123 route on the scheme of yesterday's accident, we get a rather interesting result — the helicopter either flew along the Nord Stream-2 highway, or even between the points where the accident occurred.

On Twitter, meanwhile, there were screenshots of other flights of American aviation — the following screenshot was taken on September 13.

The U.S. military is not the only force that was near the area of the pipeline damage. Just a 100 kilometer south is the Polish naval base Kolobrzeg (the former German Kolberg) which harbors mine laying ships and the 8th Kołobrzeg Naval Combat Engineer Battalion. Naval combat engineers are experts in blowing up anything that is under water, be it mines or pipelines.

During the recent Ukraine crisis Poland has rejected to receive Russian gas. It closed the Yamal pipeline that transports natural gas from Russia to Germany. Poland continued to consume Russia gas. It received it from Germany which had received it through the Nord Stream I pipeline from Russia.

Poland and Denmark have build a new sub sea pipeline which connects it to the pipeline that brings Norwegian gas to the Netherlands and Europe.

The Baltic Pipe has a capacity of only 10 billion cubic meters per year. The Nord Stream system could carry up to 110 cubic meter per year. All of which is needed to keep Europe's industries running.

For more on Poland's involvement, likely in cooperation with the U.S., read these informed speculations by John Helmer:

The explosions at Bornholm are the new Polish strike for war in Europe against Chancellor Olaf Scholz. So far the Chancellery in Berlin is silent, tellingly.

The Poles should be reminded that other countries also have the capabilities to sabotage sub sea pipelines.

Radosław Sikorski is a former Minister of Defense and Foreign Minister of Poland. He is now a Member of the European Parliament. Yesterday he posted a picture of the gas escaping the damaged Nord Stream pipelines and thanked the U.S. for blowing them up.

Sikorski is married to the neoconservative writer Anne Appelbaum who is notorious for her anti-Russian and anti-German screeds widely published in U.S. media.

In 2014 during the Maidan coup in Ukraine another notorious neoconservative, Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, told the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, who should become the new prime minister of the Ukraine. She famously expressed her opinion about European concerns: "Fuck the EU" Nuland said. She is currently the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.

Over the last decades Germany has financed the Euro zone with up to 1.24 trillion Euros. (See also this thread). This was possible because Germany was exporting lots of industrial products and had a yearly surplus from its trade. With Germany's industry going down because a lack of cheap energy that surplus will vanish. Europe, all of it, will become a poor continent.

Philip Pilkington @philippilk – 21:23 UTC · Sep 27, 2022

9/ The European energy war will likely go down in history, together with the Treaty of Versailles and the trade wars of the 1930s, as one of the biggest economic policy errors in history.

10/ Another thing: when Trump was elected on a platform of milder protectionism, many people rightly pointed to the 1920s and 1930s and warned against these policies. These same people appear to have supported these much more 1920s/30s-like policies this past year. Ironic.

This does not happen by chance or fate. It is part of a long term neoconservative plan for continued U.S. supremacy over the world. The Anglo-American axis is the only party to benefit from the recent events.

The U.S. allegedly warned Germany of sabotage of the Nord Stream system (in German).

This reminds of President Joe Biden's warning of a Russian invasion in Ukraine early this year.

It is easy to predict such events when you are the one who intends to cause them.

The U.S. knew that the Ukraine was going to launch an attack on the Donbas republics. The U.S. knew that Russia would intervene to help its brethren. Russia had said so. The Ukrainian attack started with artillery preparations on February 17. Russia intervened on February 24.

The above is a collection of the currently available facts. You can draw your own conclusions from them.

Comments

It appears that the west is executing a plan of limited warfare with Russia and China. It seems that they have determined that the payoff makes it worth the cost and the risk. And really the risk is largely not with those who call the shots. It seems also that Russia has consistently underestimated the US willingness to engage Russia in war – best done after draining it by proxy warfare. So US would advise Ukraine not to worry, they will ultimately regain what was lost.
I gather that normally in warfare, commercial activity and civilian infrastructure are not attacked – perhaps I am wrong in that.

Thank you for the interesting info on the two US acts.
You cited one, I would like to add briefly on the other one:
copy and paste from US official source:
Introduced in House (06/11/2019)
Protecting Europe’s Energy Security Act of 2019
This bill directs the President to impose visa- and asset-blocking sanctions on any foreign person that knowingly provides pipe-laying vessels for constructing a Russian-origin energy export pipeline that makes landfall in Germany or Turkey.
The President may waive the sanctions as to specific persons if it is in the U.S. national interest to do so and if the President notifies Congress of the decision.
Comment: So protecting European energy security equals preventing Russia-origin energy exports to Europe. Some protection!
In a reaction to the terrorist attack on the NS pipelines, Blinken said that the US will take care of Europe’s energy security.
(I didn’t save the statement, so can’t provide a link, unfortunately).

how far back does one want to go to discover what is behind this latest act of terrorism? The analysis here is more than likely correct given the history and nature of terrorism. This destruction of the Nordstream pipelines is an act of desperate and dangerous forces being used as an attack on humanity as a whole escalating an already very nuclear tense crisis.

What could Gazproms and Putins excuses possibly be?

President Barack Obama opposed Nord Stream 2
As President George W. Bush opposed Nord Stream 1.
The US and European nations such as Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania opposed Nord Stream 2.
After 2014, these countries further argued that Europe should not be refilling Russia’s coffers after it invaded and annexed Crimea
A letter, signed by the leaders of nine EU countries, was sent to the EC in March 2016, warning that the Nord Stream 2 project contradicts the European energy policy requirements that suppliers to the EU should not control the energy transmission assets
US Senators John McCain and Marco Rubio also criticized the project in July 2016
see https://eadaily.com/en/news/2016/07/14/united-states-is-attacking-russias-gas-projects-in-europe
In January 2018, United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reaffirmed the policy, stating US and Poland opposed the Nord Stream 2 pipeline
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline has also been opposed by
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko,
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki
Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová
US President Joe Biden
US President Donald Trump
Estonian PM Kaja Kallas
European Council President Donald Tusk
former British foreign minister / Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
In January 2022, the new German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who long supported the project, came under pressure to block the project at the 2022 EU summit.
at the White House on February 7 Scholz responded to repeated questions from reporters saying the US and Germany were “absolutely united”, while Biden went further and said that the Nord Stream 2 project would end if Russia invaded Ukraine.
… scheduled meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin for February 15, Scholz faced criticism in the media for refusing to say openly that Germany would cancel the pipeline in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine
Following the Scholz and Putin meeting in Moscow, Putin said the pipeline would cement European energy security, and that it is “purely commercial.”
Scholz then visited Kyiv to meet Ukrainian president Zelenskyy and was accused of using the “Merkel playbook” when avoiding questions about the pipeline at a joint press conference.
As a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the global natural gas supply crises, on 27 February, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Germany would quickly build two LNG terminals for seaborne LNG imports
Russian bank Sberbank’s investment research division in 2018 voiced concerns
We discover that Gazprom’s decisions make perfect sense if the company is assumed to be run for the benefit of its contractors, not for commercial profit. The Power of Siberia, Nord Stream2 and Turkish Stream are all deeply value destructive projects that will eat up almost half of Gazprom’s investments over the next five years. They are commonly perceived as being foisted on the company by the government pursuing a geopolitical agenda.

The SWOT analysis …. “Threats? What threats? There are none! Hey look over here!”
Maybe the flip side knew something?

see from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nord_Stream_2#Public_opinion_in_Germany
The Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft (Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations) criticised that US sanctions and obstruction efforts were thus threatening democratic processes in Germany and Europe, endangering Germany’s interests, and causing damages estimated to be several billion euros at the expense of European taxpayers and businesses.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán have questioned the different treatment of Nord Stream 2 and South Stream projects
Isabelle Kocher, chief executive officer of Engie, criticised American sanctions targeting the projects, and said they were an attempt to promote American gas in Europe
In June 2017, Germany and Austria criticized the United States Senate over new sanctions against Russia that target the planned Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany,[154][155] stating that the United States was threatening Europe’s energy supplies.
Austria’s Chancellor Christian Kern and Germany’s Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said that “Europe’s energy supply is a matter for Europe, and not for the United States of America.”
“To threaten companies from Germany, Austria and other European states with penalties on the U.S. market if they participate in natural gas projects such as Nord Stream 2 with Russia or finance them introduces a completely new and very negative quality into European-American relations.”
One of the last acts of former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in office was to sign the deal creating the Nord Stream project in 2005. Schröder subsequently became chairman of the company behind it and took several directorial positions in Russian energy companies in the following years
The project was supported by the northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the landfall site for the line, and where former Chancellor Angela Merkel had her constituency. In 2019 the US sanctioned German companies and individuals helping to build the line, but in January 2021, state premier Manuela Schwesig set up a Foundation… on and on and on the controversies raged

How does one spell the words NON-STOP CONTROVERSIES in Russian?
Someone here put up the idea of how dumb it is for a mouse to be taking on a cat not fully realizing how often the metaphor could be applied.
Nord Stream 1 and 2 are now dead in the water.
In a world where it was clear as day that the USA can get away with anything, and is prepared and willing to do anything, no matter how illegal, disgusting, deadly or disreputable. Putin and Co were repeatedly warned for over a decade about the risks and repeated threats to the pipeline’s viability!
Well, cry me a river. Did they imagine they were the cat or something?

It is odd that nobody decided to burn off / flare the leak.
Cows are supposed to produce 72,000 kilotons of methane per year and this is supposed to be a reason to eat less meat. The pipelines had about 300 kt of natural gas from what I have read.
That 72,000 kt from cows is produced continuously, and it decays continuously, leaving us with today’s steady state methane concentration. A sudden pulse on the other hand, gets out intact and hasn’t had time to decay unless someone decides to light it up. Now would be a good time to study the climate response to this impulse.
On another note, an elderly visitor came by yesterday and spouted off about evil Putin and his puppet Donald Trump. It is amazing that TV/Radio can create these mindsets in people, especially people that are generally ignorant / not trained to think for themselves. I was going to add “ignorant” people, but then was reminded of how many professionals I work with that are no better, despite multiple degrees. I actually find the most sensible crowd are construction workers.
I am convinced that if MSM states “experts have concluded” “multiple authorities confirm” “Putin sabotaged these pipelines” “Putin is a war criminal” “Russia needs to be destroyed with nuclear bombs even if we all die too” — that he and many others would be behind it 100%. Everyone I know likely believes Russia shot down MH17 too.
Propaganda is a dangerous weapon. I bet someone could post a video of the US Navy positioning explosive charges in the pipelines and bragging about it (Booyah – like in the collateral murder video) and people would still blame Russia because the TV said so.

B says that the Baltic sea is controlled by NATO, but two things:
1) The helicopter (MH-60S) that B tracked going over the pipeline was probably a NATO patrol defending the pipe! It’s a subhunting helicopter, it’s probably hunting subs. Which means there are enemy (Russian) subs in the Baltic sea.
2) Russia has a recent history of operating in the area.

There is a reason why lawyers will be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes… or maybe the second after presstitutes. At least among the top five categories of toxic dead weight that must be eliminated before a healthy society can be built in any case. Humanity will take a big satisfying shit and relieve itself of lawyers and then be ready to build a positive future.

Thanks very much for your reply and its info. It confirms what Escobar wrote in his PressTV article.
Liberating people is the SMO’s primary goal, but at some point the need to liberate Gazprom infrastructure needs to be considered.

If there were the slightest shred of proof of Russian involvement in the pipeline attacks the shrieking media would be deafening.

US military aircraft circled Nord Stream incident site in September
https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/us-military-aircraft-circled-nord-stream-incident-site-in-se

US military helicopters habitually and on numerous occasions circled for hours over the site of the Nord Stream pipelines incident near Bornholm Island earlier in September, Flightradar24 data showed.
Earlier this month, a US Navy Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter spent hours loitering over the location of the damaged natural gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea near Bornholm for several days in a row, September 1, 2, and 3, in particular.
Denmark’s maritime traffic agency and Sweden’s Maritime Authority on Monday reported a “dangerous” gas leak in the Baltic Sea close to the route of the inactive Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which experienced an unexplained drop in pressure.
The leak, southeast of the Danish island of Bornholm, “is dangerous for maritime traffic” and “navigation is prohibited within a five nautical mile radius of the reported position,” the agency warned in a notice to ships.
Following the incident, German newspaper Tagesspiegel claimed Monday that Berlin is convinced that the loss of pressure in the three natural gas pipelines between Russia and Germany was not a coincidence and suspects a “targeted attack”.
The cause of the incidents remains unknown and an investigation is underway. Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde said on Tuesday that the disruption was caused by detonations, which indicates that it was sabotage.
Flightradar24 showed an unidentified aircraft that did not even have a helicopter icon hovering over the site.
However, the aircraft’s 24-bit ICAO code included in the description makes it possible to establish the model, which is the US military’s Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk.
The code is verified through open resources that collect data on military aircraft.
The US helicopter is also shown by the aircraft tracking service to have flown into the area of loitering over the Nord Stream pipelines from Gdansk, Poland.
On the second day of the loitering, almost in parallel with their US counterpart, a Dutch navy NH9 helicopter was flying in the vicinity of Bornholm Island, and it is expected to have been observing the Americans’ activity.
US helicopters also took flights over other Nord Stream pipelines on September 10 and 19 and others stayed over the incident site for hours on the night of September 22 and September 25.
Reportedly, helicopters that made sorties on the night of September 22-23 and 25-26 have especially confusing tracks.
These revelations come after German newspaper Der Siegel reported Tuesday that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) warned the German government there would be attacks on Nord Stream gas pipelines weeks ahead of any incident being reported around the pipelines.
An informed source told the German magazine that Berlin had been told by the CIA a few weeks ago that there would be attacks on the key pipelines supplying a huge portion of Europe’s energy from Russia.

The UK military gave the Ukrainian Navy six autonomous underwater drones, on August 27th of this year; to identify and remove (eg destroy) mines and other obstacles from Ukrainian waters in the Black Sea to ensure the safety of ships carrying food.
The UK is providing 3 of these drones from current stocks now, and also, providing a 3 week training course on the use of the drones to Ukrainian military personnel.
Although the drones are reported to be designed for 100 meters depth; their actual operational limits were not specified. Is operation of the drones at 200 meters (the approximate depths of the pipelines) possible? Dont know.
What size explosive charge would need to be used to rupture a underwater high pressure pipeline at a distance of a 100 meters. Don’t know.
Three drones and three explosions, just sayin, folks.

The official insistence on a state actor is the preparation for blaming Russia.
Because all the other relevant state actors are NATO countries.
We can thus be sure that the result of the “investigation” will be that it was the “terrorist state” of Russia who did it. And a result will be forthcoming since our godlike elites can know everything.
Nobody will believe it but a large portion of the population will eagerly repeat it nonetheless since this is their corrupt state of ethics.

There will be no quid-pro-quo reactions from Russia. Nato members are waking up to the reality that they too are expendable proxies in the war against Russia and China. It’s a zero-sum game being played by UK/US financial oligarchy. The global south is wanting out of the collapsing dollar system. China and Russia represent a way out. India is also prepared to bolt from the dollar. The equilibrium in the world has been shattered by the West’s refusal to economically develop underdeveloped nations while simultaneously destroying the productive sectors of Europe and the Americas. Consequently, China benefitted. China’s Belt & Road filled the vacuum created by the City of London and Wall Street financial oligarchy. The consequences of the bifurcation elevated the importance of the BRICS, particularly China with its development perspective. This resulted in a gravitational shift of power and influence away from the collapsing trans-Atlantic region to the relatively healthy and growing trans-Pacific region. The reaction by “Global Britain was to use America’s military muscle. Brezinski’s Ukraine project was chosen as the means to defeat Russia by imposing sanctions each time Russia reacted to protect its interests. The Russian Bear has had enough of NATO’s proxy. The gloves are now off. Russia’s border has just been moved west to the Dneper River. Ukraine will be given only enough time to leave before they are annihilated. NATO has lowered the threshold to nuclear war by blowing up NS 1 and 2. Russia has correctly understood it to be an act of war against it by NATO, upping the ante of Global Britain’s great game. Russia chose to raise the bet and is now on a world war footing against NATO. Russia has told Americans to leave Russia immediately. Duel citizenship is rescinded. You are either Russian or you are not. If you are not, leave! America welcomes you. This is a prelude to general war. This war did not begin on February 24. It began the day the US toppled Ukraine’s President Yanukovych with violence and regime change. World leaders must now show some spine and speak out against this madness without polarizing the crisis further. What must be acknowledged is that both sides have shown they are willing to defend their interests with world war, but the rest of the world has seen enough! Now sit down! Find common ground to work out your differences. Create a new international security and development architecture that guarantees universal respect for the sovereignty of every nation and a willingness to cooperate in good faith to develop the underdeveloped regions of the world, each for the benefit of the other.

The longer the conflict goes on, the more terrorism can be expected from the Washington Regime and its skanky satellites.
The Dugin Murder. The attack on Nordstream. The shelling of nuclear power plants. War crimes and false flag hoaxes like Bucha. Maybe some WMD nuclear/ chemical/ biological attack. Maybe an assassination attempt against Putin himself.
They are constantly looking for opportunities to cause mischief. The sooner the conflict is over the better.

I still smell a rat with China. Who has the most to gain?
Linus’s assessment of foreign nations’ motivations excludes China’s goal to become the only superpower. If we assume that this is China’s long-term strategy and look at their domestic and international activities for the last decade, this plays into their hands nicely. When China introduced a three-child per family policy last year, I could smell an impending expansion.
China is a major contributor and influence to the WEF, WHO, and numerous other NGOs who have destabilized the Western populace and governmental legitimacy through policy dictates and, quite possibly, psyop programs. China has built most of the computer chips that run most of the world’s military and and domestic equipment, and has been proven to have included back-door hacks in several of these devices.
China’s motivation is to escalate the war through this lens should not be ignored.
The US has already committed itself to physical defense of Taiwan and both the US and China are keeping forces available on this front, ready to act on China’s command. At the same time, Putin has committed himself to defend any part of Russia by whatever means necessary, including the use of nuclear weapons, pending the results of the referandum to annex Donbas. He will, of course, be forced to call the nuclear bluff, given that wars are won by spending and the West has many more resources to put into the current conflict, leading to an International Incident among western countries. Without the possibility of re-engaging income through Nordstream, Russia will be forced to form deeper alliances with China.
The US appears to be the most obvious culprit in this crime, given the rhetoric and monetary gain to be had, but from a geopolitical view it is suicide. The US does not, and knows it does not, have the political capital to execute such a stunt. China, operating from the standpoint of weakening both superpowers, has the means, motive, and opportunity to commit such sabatage.

Obviously the controversies over German gas contracts with the Russians has been longstanding. What sticks out is, despite a lot of rhetoric regarding building alternate LNG facilities, over many years, nothing really was done to facilitate these concepts. The Germans paid lip service to the US and Poles/UKR etc, all the while the Nordstream project moved forward, albeit slowly. If there was an actual German interest in de-coupling from Russian energy, the efforts to facilitate alternatives would have proceeded in a focussed manner beginning years ago. It never did.
The Russians will be blamed for “pipeline terrorism”, but that requires a degree of idiocy to believe – as access required basically all of NATO’s assets in the region to have failed. It is a “Novichuk on the door handle” level of improbability. Nordstream2 was a key component of the EurAsian vision represented by SCO and Belt and Road, a “win-win” concept which will stall or be only partially realized if the Belt ends at the European borderlands.
I could be wrong, but my sense is that the Germans were onboard with the B&R vision, but openly discussing it was understood to run a serious risk of “accident” or “color rev”, and so best to let the desired result occur over time without appearing to support it.

@Arch Bungle
Israel does have an economic motive, as does the US, but the political motivation does not exist here. This appears to me to be primarily an act to weaken Russia long-term and further destabilize the EU nations. Nobody has the existing infrastructure to immediately replace the lost gas supply. Europe’s Dark Winter has just become darker without the option of negotiating at least a partial emergency supply from Russia. This destabilization does little to increase Israel’s influence.

What was the US’s most prosperous time in recent history? After WWII. What happened? Europe was destroyed and the US finnanced and supplied its reconstruction. I feel this is what they want to happen again.
They just tied the future of germany and europe with Ukraine’s future.

Former Polish defense minister and NATO general-secretary candidate Sikorski meanwhile has removed his tweet of being happy with a small action giving so much joy and his gratefulness to the US. It’s obvious the perpetrator “will not be found” but Russia “is the most likely culprit” and that’s also the narrative that’s being cooked up and repeated ad infinitum in western Anglo-Saxon controlled media. In higher EU echelons the vassals must perfectly know that the US emperor did it although they will keep playing their kabuki theater and play along with the emperor. My first thought was that Russia might do a quid pro quo but probably they will leave it at that and remain focussed on other vital interests. I assume that given what has transpired over the past 365 days Russia might have considered that gas wouldn’t flow anymore through the pipelines but did count on it as a possible leverage just in case. With the decaying US empire getting more bold in its terrorist actions and escalations increasingly spiraling out of control it’s looking more and more like we’re nearing a decisive moment in human history.

Every leader of a european NATO country who thinks ” It can’t happen to us” needs to have their head examined. Of course it can. That includes the batshit crazy poles.
NATO is not about protecting each other any more. It’s about protecting yourself from the U.S. or committing suicide. Which means NATO is dead. A military alliance that attacks its own members is obviously insane.

Robert Bridge writes about the terrorist bombing, “Should Europeans ‘Thank’ the Americans for Destroying Nord Stream?” Bridge’s answer includes a seldom written character study deservedly added:
“Following the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, former Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski already seemed to know the identity of the perpetrator when he tweeted out: ‘Thank you, USA.’
At first glance, it seemed that Sikorski was speaking sarcastically, berating Washington for carrying out an attack that will have severe repercussions for the people of Europe. After all, how could anyone see any good coming from the termination of Europe’s primary source of gas reserves with winter just around the corner? It was Sikorski’s homeland of Poland, after all, that urged its citizens to collect firewood in the face of dwindling gas reserves.
“In fact, the Polish diplomat was speaking one-hundred percent literally, thanking the United States for plunging the continent deeper into the abyss. This has been the attitude of European leaders from the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine: ‘we will accept our self-destruction as scripted by Washington policymakers so long as the baddies in Moscow hears our virtue-signaling whimpers and screams.’ European capitals are about to learn the hard way that virtue signaling does not put food on the table or heat homes.” [My Emphasis]
After discussing the evidence showing Outlaw US Empire guilt, Bridge exposes the Neoliberal Parasite’s primary motivation:
“However, the main motivating factor for Washington having a hand in destroying Nord Stream is the awesome powers – both financial and political – that it will reap. The economic crisis in Europe is already forcing companies and corporations to consider relocating to the U.S., which is providing a better business environment and more or less affordable electricity bills.
“And after the destruction of Nord Stream, the economic situation on the continent will deteriorate significantly. Even though the NS-II was not launched, there was the chance of its launch, and this “chance” had a considerable effect on the market. Now, without its main energy supplier, Europe is doomed while America will soar.
“The economic destruction of Europe makes it totally dependent on the U.S. economically, politically, and militarily, turning it into a toothless tiger with no political will and independence.”
Bridge and others have written that Europe will now become “almost 100% dependent” on the Empire’s LNG, but the Empire doesn’t have enough to cover even that amount annually as there’s not enough infrastructure on either side of the Atlantic, nor are there enough LNG tankers to even satisfy current demand. And with its industrial base soon to be raped and moved elsewhere, where’s Europe going to get the monies to afford all that expensive LNG? Printing euros won’t work as the Empire will demand dollars be used, so how will those be acquired? And I’m not so sure “America will soar” given its numerous crises, and I’m certain that there will be no benefit for commonfolk. The top 10% with all that free Fed money will buy up as much as they can as Europe gets turned into 1990s Russia.

For the record – from Russia MFA Maria Zakharova’s Briefing Q&A – 30/09/2022
https://vk.com/@580896205-maria-zakharovas-briefing-qa
Question: First Deputy Head of the International Committee of the Federation Council, FSB General Vladimir Dzhabarov said that if the investigation of the situation on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines confirms the US involvement in the explosions, then “the situation may change dramatically.” What is the current situation on the Nord Stream branches where the accidents occurred? If it is confirmed that the cause of the incident is precisely targeted sabotage, what actions can Moscow take?
A: The situation has already changed. Calls to stop the activities of Nord Stream, which is an object of civilian infrastructure, intimidation of people serving or participating in the project, promises to “finish” the project – is this not enough?
What westerners did to (Julian) Assange just because he published authentic documents and analyzed them, wrote articles. They said that he is a national threat to the United States, etc. Here we observe direct incitement. You don’t have to be a lawyer. You just need to be able to translate three phrases from English and read them in any language.
A direct threat to the existence of a civilian infrastructure facility, on which the largest economies of the continent are tied, and the disruption of the functioning of which can lead (which is now happening) colossal environmental problems.
This was done by the first persons of America: the president and representatives of the state apparatus, including the US State Department. And how many information materials have been ordered, planted, prepared for this purpose over all these years – it is impossible to count.
Isn’t that enough to understand who we are dealing with and really assess the relationship with this administration, with this regime? Everything changed a long time ago.
In this case, it is a question of finding the perpetrators and punishing, if it is reliably established that this is a deliberate subversion. You have already seen the wording of our law enforcement agencies. They use the term “international terrorism”. You can check with them for yourself.
We’re not just interested. We are one of the owners of these projects and the owner of the supplied resources.
You can contact the Russian company PJSC Gazprom for comments and clarify what losses we incur. A large number of materials were published on how Russia invested in this project, how much we have suffered due to the destructive actions of the Us administration. There was no doubt about it. We’ve known who we’re dealing with for a long time.
Now the implementation of destructive plans begins, which the American leadership announced and promised to bring them to an end. Now we see this in practice.
——————————–
AT end of Q&A
Question: Do you have any evidence that the United States is somehow involved in the “vandalism” with Nord Stream?
Answer: Read any detective story. Where does it start? From finding someone who had a motive. So far, it is not even possible to draw any accurate conclusions about the technical condition of the pipeline. Yesterday I had a substantive conversation with experts who deal with this particular technological side. They explained that it would take time.
We are talking about the fact that there is a concept of motive and voiced intentions. They were all voiced by Washington (I have already spoken about this today). They have been saying one thing for years: that this is a threat to U.S. national security. And we know what the U.S. is doing with a threat to national security – destroying. It doesn’t matter if it’s right/wrong from their point of view. If they set a “goal” and declared that this is a threat to national security (in this case, they said that this is energy, financial, political security). They promised through the mouth of their president to stop all this. It was stopped.
It has not been stopped since February of this year, as C. Jean-Pierre said for some reason. I don’t know who slips her “all” of it, all these texts. She said that Joe Biden said that Germany would freeze the project, and it would be frozen. No. The President of the United States said that when the tanks cross the borders and the troops are deployed …
Germany announced a “freeze” on February 22 of this year, when nothing had happened yet. The Russian special military operation began on February 24 this year, but even after that the project was not frozen. You remember how much there was with turbines, and with prices, and with everything else. He acted, he existed. Now it would have to work in full force, because the cold is coming and these energy resources are needed.
As the PRESIDENT of the United States said that they would put an end to this, as W. Nuland said: “One way or another we will stop it.” She didn’t say “legally,” “our partners will listen to us,” “we’re using all our economic power.” She said “one way or another” and added “it’s a piece of iron lying on the bottom of the ocean.”
What else is needed in order to find a side that would benefit from this?
I’m really interested in talking to you, you’re from the U.S., Yahoo News, a couple of years ago I gave you a pretty big live interview. I am really interested in talking to you about this.
Who is R. Sikorsky? This is not just a former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, even though Poland is an absolute satellite of the United States on the territory of the European Union, and not just an MEP. He is the “flesh of the flesh” of American politics. His wife is a major public figure – a publicist (I believe – a propagandist, a lobbyist for American foreign policy). And he himself is already connected with America. Mr Sikorsky publicly thanks the United States of America for this action and says that he only expressed his opinion on who benefited from it and who had the opportunity to do so. It is associated with the American elite and, among other things, says that it is beneficial to Poland, because for many years all Polish governments have fought against this project.
What more proof do you want? What more do you need? Yes, there should be an investigation, there should be an invoice. But we are reasonable people and we should hear who benefits from this, and who has been talking about it for many years.
Or shouldn’t they? Secretary of State E. Blinken comes out and says that, I’m sorry, in fact, it was not profitable for anyone. How is that not beneficial to anyone? Donald Trump has been talking about this for 4 years, Joe Biden has been talking about it, and both Democrats and Republicans have been talking about it before him, starting with Catherine Rice, who told us how to build energy cooperation with others in Russia. What’re you talking about? Or will we live in a surreal world?
Q: How do you respond? Is it a provocation or is it a terrorist attack?
Answer: How will we respond? Investigation. It should be. And it has already been started by our law enforcement agencies. This is our property, resources, infrastructure.
I’ve always been interested in one question. As with the development of all technological capabilities – outdoor security cameras, all kinds of listening devices, huge opportunities for storing and transmitting information – no major investigation is brought to an end. Everything seems to dissolve. Although many of these crimes were committed on the “air”, like the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. And no one knows anything. All ends in the water.
There is hope that if we are talking about explosions, and here the experts unequivocally said that we are talking about something that has no natural origin, that this investigation should be carried out to the end. I want to tell you that you probably do not know that an attack on civilian infrastructure that is related to the life support of civilians is equated with a terrorist act.
I hope that someone in the United States, or maybe someone in Europe (although, unfortunately, europe in this case can no longer be counted on), someone from independent investigators will have a desire to clarify the involvement of the United States, special services and all other bodies in what happened on September 25-27 this year in the Baltic Sea.
I know why many are silent. Because they see what they did to John Assange and what they would do to Snowden. They understand this perfectly well and therefore remain silent – they are afraid. Let me remind you that this applies not only to one country, but to the entire planet.

More than that, the US does not have enough Gas field supply to supply Europe, other markets as well as it’s own domestic needs.
This is Russia’s strategic and commercial blunder over the last decade! As it repeatedly ignored all geopolitical/commercial/financial risks and threats against the Nord Stream 2 project from the USA and Europe itself.
Russia/Putin and Gazprom itself should have demanded that Germany arrange, build, and pay for the building of whatever Pipeline they required – and that Russia would not lift a finger to organise supply until such times as that Pipeline was secured and being built. Where Russia would then simply build whatever was needed to connect to the pipeline on Russian Territory – all very secure and protected from attack.
They should have had the courage to walk away if Germany was not willing to guarantee the NS2 pipeline itself.
Had this happened Germany would soon have realized that the USA was incapable of supplying sufficient LNG to Germany/Europe, and that no other option was available via any potential Pipeline project at a price equal to what Russia could supply it – including the cost to Germany of building a NS2 pipeline itself.
Germany (and the Europeans) would have been forced to confront the USA Hegemony head on first if it wanted to obtain it’s cheap reliable Russian Gas supply – before Russia lifted a finger to proceed to a Contract. It would not have spent or risked a single Ruble in the process.
The inability of Germany to be able source sufficient supply would have automatically increased Gas prices globally … and that would have happened years ago …. Germany would have been confronted with reality then – instead of the dire reality it faces today.
Germany and other European/NATO nations would have been confronted with the implications of dealing with the USA instead of Russia when it comes to the supply of essential Gas supplies.
But Russia, iow Putin, were GREEDY and blinded by their own blind geopolitical ambitions! They refused to see the Risks involved and the long term costs. They were not at all “wise and patient” like they keep claiming to be and the commentariate keep falsely claiming they have been.

Officials with the European Union and NATO warned that any attack on critical infrastructure would be met with a ‘robust’ response, as unexplained. leaks in undersea Nord Stream gas pipelines highlight the vulnerability of Europe’s energy supply..

Typo? Missing word “billion” in second sentence?
“The Baltic Pipe has a capacity of only 10 billion cubic meters per year. The Nord Stream system could carry up to 110 [billion?] cubic meter per year. All of which is needed to keep Europe’s industries running.

The problem is that NATO/EU countries can’t do anything else than blame Russia. If they don’t do that it is simply an admission that the culprit must be sought between them. They will never do that because that would mean the end of NATO and EU. Can you imagine Germany’s leaders telling to their citizens that their energy problems are caused by the Americans blowing up Nordstream 1 & 2? That would cause a revolution and Germany would be pressed to leave NATO.

There have been a few comments I’ve read, and I’ve read or scanned them all, that mention the Islamic State. Some thought should be given to these terrorists, since they seem to fit much of the modus operandi platforms necessary to carry these types of attacks out.
The ISKP (Islamic State Khorsan Province) has been, I believe, instrumental in the bombing of the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan on Sept. 5, 2022. “The ISKP and Taliban consider each other enemies” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_State_%E2%80%93_Khorasan_Province
And we all know the Taliban is the official government in Afghanistan. The Islamic State, and their offshoot militants, don’t care for the Taliban or Russia.
https://thediplomat.com/2022/09/the-islamic-state-vs-russia-in-afghanistan/
With the attack on the Russian Embassy recently, it was not the Taliban. Here’s why: Russia has been brokering several business deals providing Afghanistan and her people a relief from some inflationary, and much needed human basics: Oil, gas and wheat. https://en.mehrnews.com/news/191900/Taliban-inks-gas-oil-wheat-deal-with-Russia This was in the works when the Russian Embassy was attacked.
Now, we have another major terrorist event, the NS1 and NS2 pipelines. Also having Russia as a major player in the development and installation of that much needed fuel supply and resource. The war in Ukraine and the anti-Russian sentiments of some of these rogue/terrorist ideologies should be looked at, and governments who aid and abet are replete with providing them with impunity, as well as funding, and mercenaries. Russia knows who they are, and how they infiltrate using many of the mercenary gangs throughout the world. Afghanistan has the rag-tags found in ISKP, which has a 27-year old “leader” from Iraq.
The TurkStream pipeline that Russia and Turkey worked diligently to bring on-line, which happened January 8, 2020 was also viewed by the terrorist militants as a target. Despite many attempts to thwart that cooperative effort, including the downing of Russian Sukhoi Su-24 in 2015, TurkStream is a blessing to the people of Turkey. Turkey has their issues with PKK, another terrorist organization.
I hope NS1 and NS2 saboteurs are caught, and their feet placed on the fire for what they’ve done. This affects Germany. In WW1 and WW2 the fuel source was coal. Germany was Europe’s powerhouse, then the coal wars. Hyper-inflation occurred, and then war. Germany regained their financial position after WW1 and then it happened again with WW2. Let’s learn from history, and not repeat. Fuel sources and the terrorists that undermine years of patching things up between nations, and now this with NS1 and NS2. WTF?!?

Maybe it’s not Who Dunnit, but rather…
…What Didit!

Someone here argues that the Nord Stream explosions may have been accidents or neglect. He has several arguments:
* When Special Forces break things, they break them at the same time, not with 17 hour breaks in between.
* Pipelines are a difficult problem, a lot can go wrong there
* There’s been one thing after another that’s gone wrong all along.
* A pack of well maintained prejudices about Russian engineering 🙂
* Experience with gas pipelines and what can happen, specifically: Hydrate Plugs
A hydrate plug is something like a blood clot. Water and methane together under pressure form methane hydrate, a kind of ice with methane inclusion. If you google this, you’ll find great pictures.
As you can imagine, this can block the pipeline, and it’s extremely difficult to remove because there’s also natural gas in the pipeline, so you can’t just heat the pipeline from the outside with a flamethrower to melt the ice.
The formation of this stuff is obviously favored when the gas is not flowing but at rest.
Sounds plausible to me as a layman. So it could be that no one has blown up the pipeline.

Posted by: Hank-Jet | Sep 30 2022 19:23 utc | 353

The pipeline is toast. So is the LNG terminal.
Noone in the world will take the risk to ship a single LNG tanker to Germany.

I was reading today that a bipartisan group of congressmen have sent a letter to Blinken asking him to impose sanctions on Algeria for buying weapons from Russia. A lot of countries buy weapons from Russia but Algeria supplies a lot of gas to Italy , Spain and Portugal and other EU countries. Coincidence? or the US just wants Algeria to stop supplying gas to Europe?

et tu 66:
By your own logic, IF the big, bad ol’ Americans blew up the pipeline then in effect THEY just ended the war. You state that the consequence will force Russia and Germany to kiss and make up and everyone plays nice. To me that sounds like a BRILLIANT diplomatic move via a stealth military operation.
So you can’t have it BOTH ways. Is America the bad guy or the good guy?
This is the same dilemma the media had with Reagan, Bush,Trump, etc. They accused them of being morons all the time EXCEPT when they were also constantly accusing them of their evil genius maneuvers. Which is it? Stupid, smart, or just lucky all the time?
Maybe Germany’s Greens did it because they hate fossil fuel! Maybe Poland did it in order to profit from transit taxes through their pipeline. Maybe tanker builders did it to increase sales of LNG ships. Insulated Thermal Underwear manufacturers did it to sell more clothing this Winter!
It’s fun and easy to blame the USA for all of Europe’s problems and stupid decisions isn’t it? Most of us Yanks don’t give a sh*t about this “war” and who wins or loses. We don’t like billions of our tax dollars being shipped overseas and we have a porous southern border that needs defending. We don’t want to be the World Police. And we don’t feel sorry for European countries, especially Germany, run by feckless “leaders” who worship Gia and determined your fate years ago when they turned their back on plentiful, cheap oil and natural gas. How are those solar panels and wind turbines working out for you now?

This should be the RF statement at UNSC about Nordstream. It responds also to the USA statement. I had trouble finding them at the UN site as usually, probalby not published yet, and most focus seemed to have shifted to trolls, Stoltenberg and the referendums (with the joint USA-Albania proposal). Nothing really new and sorry if it’s a repost.

its amazing how people who READ the whole arfticle still act as if its a mystery who blew up the pipeline… If US helicopters that try to hide their identity hover for hours during several days at the spot where a view days later controlled explosions rip a 30cm thick steel pipe apart its really not a question anymore who was it.. let alone the fact nobody else could have placed those bombs there without them noticing it.

This show all the tasks going on during that navy exercise.
It was on 21/9 the ID transponders was switched off on all those navy ships.
Notice the two pink dots named “Gas Ref Dnw 23122” just top of the picture of the naval ship. That’s actually the positions of the two boom on the Nord Stream 1 gas line.
(I wish I could find the source of that screen dump. On my screen I can see a half pink dot at the position of the NS2 sabotage, bottom of the image)
Here is the approved route by the Danish Government of the NS 2 route, also used on nautical charts.

Here is the Permit for the Nord Stream 2 project granted by the Danish Energy Agency.

Now, who would put a “secret” sabotage job on a map/chart
which can be accessed by the public?
I think, Joe for this time tell the truth, he would take care of the gas pipes and he did, but not in the way we all imagined from information available. That’s also why the US can say they did not do the “sabotage”, they did some kind of a stunt.

@karlofi:
“The economic crisis in Europe is already forcing companies and corporations to consider relocating to the US, which offers a better business environment and more or less favorable electricity bills.”
Russia also offers all this to foreign investors due to the sanctions; favorable loans with adjusted maturities, support through tax breaks, etc. If European corporations see through the decades-old game of US politics they might get the idea to relocate their production facilities to Russia instead of the US, doing business in rubles could be more lucrative than dollars and euros, which continues to be mined as a means of payment by BRICS+.
For European corporations and companies have now also come to the conclusion that production facilities in the USA can be persuaded at any time with sanctions not to engage in lucrative trade with China and India. A loss of confidence.

New piece up at Unz:
Nordstream – the Signal That Washington Knows It Has Lost the ‘Great Game’
Just so! Which brings me to the crucial geopolitical point which, as far as I know, no other analyst has made so far. To use Germany, the EU and UK as obedient and useful vassals in a long-running cold or hot war, the USA would need them to have huge stocks of modern weapons and the ability to make more.
Yet, all we have seen since the conflict was first provoked are weapons and munitions being thrown into the Donbass meat grinder, at a rate which has left military insiders all over Western and central Europe warning that their armed forces are running out of the capacity to defend their own territory, let alone fight NATO’s proxy war in the Ukraine.
Even more incredibly, the industrial capacity which the EU and UK would need to wage a prolonged conventional war is being obliterated. In WW2 terms it’s as if Churchill had turned Bomber Command on Coventry and Birmingham, Goering had used the Luftwaffe to deindustrialise the Ruhr, and American Flying Fortresses had flattened London and Moscow.
Given that nuclear war would be suicidal for all concerned, this can only mean that – while their recklessness might cause nuclear Armageddon – the sinister forces running the Biden regime do not actually plan on fighting World War Three. I repeat, no-one prepares for war by destroying their allies’ capacity to wage it alongside them.

I can think off-hand of criticisms of his argument, but I think it still deserves consideration. I have considered for some years now that Uncle Sugar is trying to circle its wagons since it cannot hang on to it all after 20 years of Neocon foreign policy (over-extension again???). But I had rather thought they would want to keep Yurp strong. Silly me, I should know better by now.

What I found interesting is the US standard, “double-tap” always shooting a victim twice to drastically reduce the chance of survival.
From the composite picture of explosions and reconnaissance flights, it seems that one pipeline was only hit once, followed by frantic activity along the same pipeline, like they had lost the drone which was supposed to detonate the second charge.
I wonder if they ever found that 4th drone.

Reply to “Whodunnit?” A heterodox case that Ukraine did it.
US, Ukraine, Russia. By ‘find a motive, find the killer’ logic, one can come up with a motive for any of them – though arguably the motive imputed to Russia is obviously weak. (see, e.g., Time’s ‘Russia did it, even though we have to admit that doesn’t make any sense’ article, “Russia Blows Up Gas Pipelines, Declaring an All-Out Energy War”)
Now the US and Ukraine both have a motive – isolate Russia, in particular stop it from using ‘energy blackmail’ so that Europe doesn’t apply sanctions, and so energy fears don’t support antiwar sentiment, plus that ‘opportunity’ Blinken points to.
But…I consider it…not impossible, but improbable that – assuming Blinken was privy to it – he would have declared it was opportune right after. Such a statement is gratuitous…Sure, we can imagine a neocon spy thriller where Blinken ‘pulls off the greatest performance of his life with da’ fate of da’ free world at stake!!!’…or a ‘covert op’ where even he didn’t know. But…
…think about lil’ ol’ Ukraine…which has already – in ‘close the skies’ and now ‘let us in NATO now’ demands – shown it is prepared to set off WWIII:
With its ‘nothing left to lose’ and ‘the US/Europe isn’t doing enough for us’ mentality, and its anger at Russia, and its record of covert strikes on Russian territory…it seems like just the kind of low-tech sabotage act it would concoct and carry out – at the very moment Russia was holding its referendum in the east, no less.

The question is not who blew up the Nord Streams, the question is what ‘bono’ the CIA expected for the US by doing so? Of course, it had something to do with the contretemps in Ukraine, but what? Well, the answer is as simple as it is stupid. Blinken and his bosses in Langley are so desperate not to loose the SMO, blowing up the pipeline was their “Hail, Mary” to stop the blitzkreig in Ukraine following the mobilization. Blowing the pipes was calculated to cause Putin to counter it by blowing, for example, the fiberoptic cable from New York to London and thereby deviate from their original plans to overrun Kiev this Autumn. Blowing the US/UK cable to get even with Washington for Nord Stream would allow the US declare a Mickey Mouse war on Russia and halt Russia’s plans to occupy Ukraine after the rains. As we all saw, Russia acted cool and neglected to talk of revenge or getting even.

This screen dump from the article is a complete fraud.
https://www.moonofalabama.org/14i/nsdamage2.jpg
It was actually two images, which should give the impression before and after
the ships in the navy exercise switched off the ID transponders.
I could only now find the two images on a memes page, lol, well they belong there.
https://covidsteria.substack.com/p/best-nord-stream-didnt-kill-itself-memes
The image 19:58 UTC show all the ship traffic in the area and the other image
from 19:57 should show that the navy has gone, ID switched off, but the US vessel 3 is still to be seen including some Danish navy ships.
Should not the time of the two images be switched, so the navy is gone 19:58.
The 19:58 image show many crazy things, the Dubai Glamour bulker in two places, the ship
Petrel Bulker in two locations with opposite sail directions.
All the pink dots are tasks for that exercise, but the 3 pink dots showing the sabotage points are for sure added after the Swedish send out info on a nautical chart.
The Baltic sea is one of the most monitored waters in the world. Since the cold war all surrounding countries follow all traffic on the water and below. So, Sweden-Denmark-Poland is for sure into this show, assisted by US and UK and the Norwegian NATO Boss.
