On February 7 Professor of Economics Michael Hudson explained why America’s Real Adversaries Are Its European and Other Allies:

What worries American diplomats is that Germany, other NATO nations and countries along the Belt and Road route understand the gains that can be made by opening up peaceful trade and investment. If there is no Russian or Chinese plan to invade or bomb them, what is the need for NATO? And if there is no inherently adversarial relationship, why do foreign countries need to sacrifice their own trade and financial interests by relying exclusively on U.S. exporters and investors?

These are the concerns that have prompted French President Macron to call forth the ghost of Charles de Gaulle and urge Europe to turn away from what he calls NATO’s “brain-dead” Cold War and beak with the pro-U.S. trade arrangements that are imposing rising costs on Europe while denying it potential gains from trade with Eurasia. Even Germany is balking at demands that it freeze by this coming March by going without Russian gas.

Instead of a real military threat from Russia and China, the problem for American strategists is the absence of such a threat.

What the U.S. needed was to provoke Russia, and later China, into reacting to U.S. arranged threats in a way that would oblige its 'allies' to follow its sanction policies.

The rather dimwitted European leadership fell for the trick.

The U.S. arranged for a Ukrainian attack on the rebel held Donbas region. This started on February 17 with intense artillery preparations against Donbas positions as recorded by the OSCE observers at that border. Russia had to react or see the ethnic Russians in those areas getting maimed and killed by Nazi devoting Ukrainians.

There was no way to prevent that but by other than military means. On February 22 Russia recognized the Donbas republics as independent states and signed defense agreements with them.

The same day the German chancellor Olaf Scholz canceled the launch of the undersea Nord Stream II pipeline which was to transport Russian gas to Germany's industries and consumers.

The Europeans launched a sequence of extremely harsh economic sanctions against Russia which, prodded by the U.S., had been prepared months in advance.

Russia's Special Military Operation, under Article 51 of the UN Charter, commenced on February 24.

A follow-up piece by Michael Hudson on February 28 stated that Germany had been defeated for a third time in a century:

The active military force since 1991 has been the United States. Rejecting mutual disarmament of the Warsaw Pact countries and NATO, there was no “peace dividend.” Instead, the U.S. policy by the Clinton administration to wage a new military expansion via NATO has paid a 30-year dividend in the form of shifting the foreign policy of Western Europe and other American allies out of their domestic political sphere into their own “national security” blob (the word for special rentier interests that must not be named). NATO has become Europe’s foreign-policy-making body, even to the point of dominating domestic economic interests.

The recent prodding of Russia by expanding Ukrainian anti-Russian ethnic violence by Ukraine’s neo-Nazi post-2014 Maiden regime aims at forcing a showdown. It comes in response to the fear by U.S. interests that they are losing their economic and political hold on their NATO allies and other Dollar Area satellites as these countries have seen their major opportunities for gain to lie in increasing trade and investment with China and Russia.
…
As President Biden explained, the current military escalation (“Prodding the Bear”) is not really about Ukraine. Biden promised at the outset that no U.S. troops would be involved. But he has been demanding for over a year that Germany prevent the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from supplying its industry and housing with low-priced gas and turn to the much higher-priced U.S. suppliers.
…
So the most pressing U.S. strategic aim of NATO confrontation with Russia is soaring oil and gas prices. In addition to creating profits and stock-market gains for U.S. companies, higher energy prices will take much of the steam out of the German economy.

(Some people currently peddle a 'Secret RAND study from January 2022'. It is obviously faked. It is simply a write up of Hudson's analysis.)

Nord Stream II was created to make Germany independent from pipelines running through Poland and the Ukraine. Blocking it was the most stupid thing for Germany to do and thus chancellor Scholz did it.

In the following months Poland blocked the Yamal pipeline which also brought Russian gas to Germany. Ukraine followed up with cutting off two Russian pipelines. The main compressor stations of the Nord Stream I pipeline, which the German company Siemens had build and has the maintenance contract, failed one after the other. Sanction are prohibiting Siemens from repairing them.

It is not Russia that has blocked its gas and oil from European markets. It were the German, Polish and Ukrainian governments that did it.

Russia would in fact be happy to sell more. Putin has recently again offered to push as much Russian gas as possible through Nord Stream II to Germany:

After all, if they need it urgently, if things are so bad, just go ahead and lift sanctions against Nord Stream 2, with its 55 billion cubic metres per year – all they have to do is press the button and they will get it going. But they chose to shut it off themselves; they cannot repair one pipeline and imposed sanctions against the new Nord Stream 2 and will not open it. Are we to blame for this?

It is the German government that is to blame for rejecting that offer.

The economic war against Russia that the sanctions against were meant to win has failed to move Russia. The Rubel is stronger than ever. Russia is making record profits even while selling fewer gas and oil than before the war. Russia may have a small recession this year but its standard of living is not in decline.

As was easy predictable and, as Michael Hudson explained, the economic consequences of the anti-Russian sanctions within Europe have in contrast huge catastrophic consequences for the Europe's industries, its societies and its political standing in the world.

Governments and the media had so far refrained from noting the gigantic problems that are coming up and which industry leaders had pointed out early on. Only over the last two weeks or so have they picked up the urgent warnings.

Der Spiegel, Germany's major weekly, asks: How Bad Will the German Recession Be? and states the obvious:

The first German companies have begun throwing in the towel and consumption is collapsing in response to the fallout from exploding energy prices. The economy is sliding almost uncontrolled into a crisis that could permanently weaken the country.

The piece discusses the five stages along which the catastrophe will happen.

Act One: Freezing Production – It is becoming prohibitively expensive to produce in Germany.
Act Two: The Price Trap – No one buys at the high prices German products now cost.
Act Three: The Consumer Crisis – Needing to pay high energy prices German consumers buy less of everything else.
Act Four: The Wave of Bankruptcies.
Act Five: The Final Act on the Labor Market.

When Germany will have some 6 to 10 million unemployed people, and the government less tax income as only a few companies will be profitable, the social system will break down.

European industry buckles under weight of soaring energy prices headlines the Irish Examiner:

Volkswagen, Europe’s biggest carmaker, warned last week that it could reallocate production out of Germany and eastern Europe if energy prices don’t come down.

Europe is paying seven times as much for gas as the US, underscoring a dramatic erosion of the continent’s industrial competitiveness that threatens to cause lasting damage to its economy. With Russian President Vladimir Putin redoubling his war efforts in Ukraine, there’s little sign that gas flows – and substantially lower prices – would be restored to Europe in the near term.

OilPrice.com provides that Europe Faces An Exodus Of Energy-Intensive Industries.

In fact The EU is sleepwalking into anarchy:

All eyes may be on the Italian election results this morning, but Europe’s got much bigger problems on its hands than the prospect of a Right-wing government. Winter is coming, and the catastrophic consequences of Europe’s self-imposed energy crisis are already being felt across the continent.

As politicians continue to devise unrealistic plans for energy rationing, the reality is that soaring energy prices and falling demand have already caused dozens of plants across a diverse range of energy-intensive industries — glass, steel, aluminium, zinc, fertilisers, chemicals — to cut back production or shut down, causing thousands of workers to be laid off. Even the pro-war New York Times was recently forced to acknowledge the “crippling” impact that Brussels’s sanctions are having on industry and the working class in Europe. “High energy prices are lashing European industry, forcing factories to cut production quickly and put tens of thousands of employees on furlough,” it reported.
…
It’s truly a sign of the feebleness of Europe’s politicians that despite the fast-approaching cliff, no one can bring themselves to state the obvious: that the sanctions need to end. There’s simply no moral justification for destroying the livelihoods of millions of Europeans simply to school Putin, even if the sanctions were helping to achieve that aim, which they clearly aren’t.

The U.S., while also going into a recession, will profit, as it had planned, from the European catastrophe.

The Handelsblatt, a business daily, reports that Germany companies are moving production to North America.

Washington is attracting German companies with cheap energy and low taxes.

The German government is claiming it wants to prevent that but that is impossible without ending the energy sanctions.

The New York Times is of course happy with the situation. As European producers get out-priced from their markets the U.S. is taking up their slack:

Factory Jobs Are Booming Like It’s the 1970s
U.S. manufacturing is experiencing a rebound, with companies adding workers amid high consumer demand for products..

The U.S., with the help of European politicians, is waging a war against the people of Europe and their standard of living. It is now on the verge of winning that war.

No help will come from outside to prevent that from happening:

Germany Secures Just One Tanker of Gas During Scholz’s Gulf Tour

Europe, and especially Germany, can only escape this obvious trap if it opens the pipelines from Russia. It now high time to do that.

Please. Name one instance were the Russians, et al, have broken through the Ukrainian defensive line and attacked the line from the back.
You break through the line at some weak point and attack from the back.
Attacking into the teeth of the enemy is a fool’s game.
Yet that seems to have been the only strategy employed.
Maybe Putin, or the Russian high command, doesn’t really like the Ukrainian rebels in the East.
Their support for them seems really tepid.
The Luhansk & Donetsk People’s Republic forces are reported to do most of the close fighting (and dying), etc, etc.
And Putin lets the condemned neo-Nazis go???

Just wait until there are millions unemployed and the MSM reports that all is well and that we are privileged to make sacrifices for the heroic fighters in Ukraine. (And that anyone disagreeing ought to be jailed.)
As Aneurin Bevan wrote : The Weimar Republic survived the Versailles Treaty but it couldn’t survive six million unemployed.
Nor will the EU.

Many people here expect deflationary collapse, what with the central banks tightening, dollar high as safe heaven and the markets tanking. But many also forget that most of the people in functions today have no experience with inflation. The 70s were almost 50 years ago!
With the money printing to offset energy costs for households, extreme high savings (in western EU), stupidly tight labour market at the moment, pedal-to-the-metal government/green spending: I expect inflationary pressure going into moderate hyperinflation soon.
Evidence: the pound these days.
They already helicoptered money during covid (which started all this). They liked it and will do it again and again until reality hits in.
There simply can not be deflation will all that money sitting in savings. We will be very rich otherwise!
Someone somewhere at some time must pay for the covid excesses, the costs of new non-Russian energy sources and infastructure and for the war itself. All that diesel and ammo must be paid for but is not going to the economy at the other side (i.e. its unproductive economic activity)!

@ Chip Poirot
The FAQ mentiones an “oral update”, a video should be here:
https://media.un.org/en/asset/k1c/k1cy4redht
https://media.un.org/en/asset/k1d/k1dfx9ho3b
Then there’s a report for the 77th session of the General Assembly in October.
The session already started, schedule:
https://www.un.org/en/ga/info/meetings/77schedule.shtml
The only relevant entry I could find was “Report of the Human Rights Council [item 63] (A/77/53) and (A/77/53/Add.1)”, scheduled for 1 November 2022. The first report is older, the second doesn’t exist in any language.
The final report is scheduled for March 2023.
My guess is that the oral update was reported as a report. The UN website is a mess to browse, so don’t trust me too much on this one. Hope this helps anyway.

After observing French position and rhetoric over few years, I am convinced that the principle of policy presentation at the French pinnacles of power is pirouette. In other words, every dramatic statements have to be contradicted half a spin later, and you do not need to wait long for a pirouette to complete. Then you start noticing that those statements are so deprived of detail that actually there is no contradiction. Consider famous “NATO is brain dead”. Should France leave it? Reminds me the words of a poet “if I only had a brain”, if the French deciders have straw in the place where other NATO poohbahs have dead neurons, why not just put effort in common adventures, even though the straw heads are lighter footed, and spin much more.

Well, I need to apologize to omninom for calling it a defeatist troll as it proved itself serious.
watcher @79–
Our backgrounds are similar. Over the years of commenting here I’ve reviewed why I do what I do now, which is to try and educate and inform as IMO that’s what’s sorely lacking is the provision of information that would allow people to act in their interests. I’ve also developed a theory as to why our culture’s dysfunctional whereas much of the world isn’t–yet–which I’ve articulated occasionally. We’ve actually discussed most of the polity’s options here over the years. We’ve even diagnosed how the elite go about staying elite. The exchange between Nader and Hudson exemplifies our critical drawback–we’re all old, and oldsters don’t get listened to in our culture, plus our activity levels are quite diminished. I’d very much like to have known in 1973 what I now know. Would that have made a difference? Hudson admits he thought Super Imperialism would become a Leftist hit but it was ignored with most sales going to government as a training manual. I bought a used edition in 1974 and it opened my eyes wider than they were already, but Nam was over and most were fatigued and had to deal with Stagflation then Volker’s War on the working class.
So, we’re back to omninom’s objection @60. The best answer I can give is to try your best to improve your local situation–easy in a small village like mine, almost impossible in a megalopolis where your neighborhood or high-rise apartment building can be the goal. The advice given by S remains valid. I again point to learning and disseminating actionable information.
There was once an organization called Common Cause that still exists, CommonCause that centers on elections and empowerment of voters for that’s where ultimate sovereignty lies; but like Nader’s Public Citizen, few know about it. Its million+ members is a small fraction of what’s required to completely alter the current political-economic reality. But its existence is evidence that there are organizations to join that try to make a difference. The old adage–Better to have tried and failed than to not have tried at all–is very applicable.

I think Scholz may be compromised from his financial scandals with Wirecard and cum ex. or maybe he’s just corrupt. Most if not all politicians are. Destroy your country/continent and in return you’ll get place in a security fall out bunker, a private island, a job that will make you a billinaire and a private jet. many would do it. national pride is nationalistic after all so who even cares? this is how the elites think about us.

Well, I haven’t gotten to the end yet, but it is pretty depressing…and I understand why. But, I just recommend a book, “A Paradise Built in Hell” by Solnit….a history of what real people did in overwhelming catastrophes in the past. I think the Mammon Servers have a dual morality, which precludes them from ever unselfishly helping the ‘other’. It may be their undoing…. and it will take a catastrophe, possibly. «The rather dimwitted European leadership fell for the trick.»
The EU leaders know very well that they don’t have a choice between ignoring USA sanctions or complying with them (and helping regime-change in the Russian Federation), but only between complying, or being sanctioned (and regime-changed) by the USA. Given that choice, they are simply choosing the less bad alternative.
Even companies in the People’s Republic of China are keen to comply with USA sanctions, at last officially, because they don’t want to lose their USA business, which is much, much more important than the Russian Federation business. The USA have a lot of power by being a colossal importer (a policy similar to that of gifts to vassals by the old chinese emperors).

To ruin Putin and save Ukraine, no price is too high. That is why, for our commercial chatterers of our opinion media, demonstrations in Russia against this mobilisation are real propaganda tidbits.
They are a nice way to distract from reality and the consequences of the sanctions.
Anyone who does not sell what little he has earned, e.g. a rentable flat to have a retirement, should as quickly as possible sell it, before it is too late because the prices are going in the basement because mortgages are no longer being serviced because rents are no longer being paid and the property market is flooded with unprofitable, unrentabel housing, anyone who does not disinvest as quickly as possible will be used as cattle for slaughter. Europe’s government, which elected itself under mysterious circumstances and appointed its apparatchiks in secret, is its own worst enemy. I as an individual cannot change this, but I can escape the direct consequences of their idiotic self-destructive decisions…

Of course you are correct at one level but humanity has developed stories about the caterpillar/butterfly transition for ever and attach values to the pieces and the process, like we do many things.
Do you have good metaphors for what humanity is undergoing? Unfortunately, we don’t see too many cultural anthropologists at the bar that are providing the kind of context around forms of social organization and components that I try to write about. Michael Hudson comes close as any to characterizing the civilization conflict in cultural anthropology terms as any and even he does not openly make comments about the God of Mammon cult that exists above the control of the nations under them because ……private finance.

I think there was a Twilight Zone episode where protagonist knew with certainty that something bad was going to happen and he ran about trying to warn everyone, but no one would listen – thought he was mad. Until finally he stopped believing it himself.
So can one really know something if others cannot be convinced, I wonder. If the knowing brings with it direct benefits of course but what if knowing alone does not bring any pratical, tangible advantage.

💢 The ongoing battle in southern Ukraine may be the worst of the war, at least for now. This was reported by The New York Times, whose correspondent spoke with eyewitnesses.
Data on casualties by the Ukrainian side has not been disclosed. But after conversations with fighters of the AFU, the correspondent gave the feeling that the losses were “large and even massive.” He was told, for example, that hundreds of soldiers died in the battle for one village alone. Elsewhere, 50 fighters were killed in two hours.
“Every Ukrainian soldier on the southern front carries an assault rifle, but few of them have fired the weapon. Death here comes from a great distance. It is indiscriminate and total,” writes the NYT.
Ukrainian officials say they had no choice but to launch an attack. They need to liberate the south before the rains in October turn the roads into an impassable swamp. Also, Kiev needs to show the world that it is capable of kicking the Russians out of its territory, especially before winter tests the resolve of its allies. But the Russians, firmly entrenched in the Kherson region, are able to put up a strong resistance, which leads to many casualties.

Things look “negative” according to the European Central Bank. . .or let’s just say it’s a “technical recession” leading to “a difficult year.”
POLITICO

The European Central Bank expects the euro area economy to contract in the last quarter of this year and in the first quarter next year, its president said Monday.
That fits the definition of a technical recession, which is two consecutive quarters of negative growth. “It is difficult to predict what the real outcome will be in 2023 but it will certainly be a difficult year of which the first quarter will most likely be negative, as we believe the last quarter of 2022 will likely be negative as well,” ECB President Christine Lagarde told the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament. The ECB’s September estimates currently predict euro area growth to remain positive in 2023 albeit low at 0.9 percent, but it also foresees an adverse scenario in which the euro area contracts by -0.9 percent. . .here

Possibly. The masons got even for the crown killing Jacques de Molay. But in reality, the phrase is apt for this occasion and that one as well. It may have been just a great joke that was circulating at the time. Was that not the attitude of the crown and nobility? Today, is it any better?

Regrettably, Germany and Die Deutschen are Vassal-Pawns to be consumed as Human+Industrial Resources for the Masonic-Zionist H8_Hegemony*.
In addition to shifting production to the USA, it will be a matter of time until DEU Firms will start shift production to CHN, then resort to SELLING their Assets to USA/CHN Firms. Selling Assets and walking away after spinning off Employee-Pension Funds will appeal to many Corporations+Small/Medium_Enterprises(SMEs).
(My Personal Condolences – I was planning to Work/DoBusiness/Invest in DEU before the SHTF.)
Per PhD Hudson, the EU have been reduced to being the “Economics Branch” of NATO. I’ll refer to as NATO-EU going forward. DEU and other Europeans looking to prosper along with RUS Resources and CHN SilkRoad Trade had their Collective Hopes shattered.
Will Die Deutschen kick out Scholz/Habeck(Children’s Book Author)/Baerbock(Treehugger – Not a Heavy Duty Industrialist/Environmentalist/Financier among their Execs), USA/NATO, and determine their own path with RUS, CHN, and the Rest of the World? Tough Choices.
Gynecologist von der Leyen and Borrell are Grandeur-Deluded Politicians of a similar persuasion; but with NATO pwning them, they’ll take a back seat.
Europe – for the most part – are pwned by the H8 via the USA and a surprisingly high representation of Jewish Actors in this Scenario (Soros-Schwartz, Blinken-SorosVassal, Nudelman-Khagan, Kolomoiskyy (expended), and Zelenskyy), who are known to be engaged EuropeanPowerStruggle/Anti-Russia Scenarios for – Centuries. Nothing will replace the Volumes of Inexpensive Energy Resources available through RUS. Anything available will be more expensive; and even the USA, which sought to replace RUS as a LNG Exporter – are encountering “Industrial Mishaps” preventing the Exports but keeping Domestic NatGas Px down.
New Waves of Middle-East/North-Africa(MENA) Migranvaders (aggravated by PNAC7 ColorRevos+Wars) are about to cross TRK into GRC/BGR by the Ten-Thousands, looking to settle in Europe. Similar Waves of Migranvaders are entering the USA, with the President of Mexico calling for an “Americas SuperState” with OpenBorders encompassing the Western Hemisphere.
Civil Infrastructure and Energy/Food Availability are being tested as well
Instability would be the Diplomatic way of describing what await the €URoZone.
The “Camp of the Saints” and “Marching Morons” Dystopian Scenarios are being enacted here and now.
*****
These Efforts by the H8’s Plutarchy to install themselves as the Unitary Power over the Entire World are Failing. They’ll still control most if not all of the Americas and Europe – with major influences in Africa, OPEC, JPN, KOR, AUS, NZL, and PHL.
Notable Exceptions to H8 Rule feature the following:
IRN started selling Crude+NatGas accepting Major Non-U$D Currencies, Gold, and Barter;
CHN decided to establish a PetroCN¥-Gold Exchange System, started reducing their U$D/U$T/T-Bill Holdings, and are rolling out their SWIFT Alternative CIPS for Trade Settlements.
RUS broke the U$D/€UR Code after their Central Bank Reserves were stolen by beginning the Payment of Russian Exports in ₽Ubles(₽UB) – where Foreign Currency Pmts are converted into ₽UB upon receipt. RUS are also rolling out their SWIFT Alternative SPFS/СПФС for Trade Settlements
RUS and CHN have grown beyond the H8’s abilities to contain their growth and influence; and are now working with TradeGroups SCO(which IRN are joining), BRICS, EAEU to develop means to pay with each other’s Currencies and Settle such Trade Transactions

Some people currently peddle a ‘Secret RAND study from January 2022’. It is obviously faked.

Yes, probably faked, especially when one considers that the plan was conceived and put into execution in the mid to late 90s by Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Cebrowski, et al. The war department’s stated aim was to prevent the emergence of a peer competitor, and that means any competitor, including supposed friends and allies. You don’t need the BLAND Corporation to tell you that.
And the execution phase has never stopped; they have fully committed to making this happen as this headline shows, in light of the latest color revolution attempt in Iran: Arms Transfer To Iran

He was a US Citizen when he committed his alleged crimes (of ratting out the NSA’s malfeasance while working for the CIA, also known as turf wars… LOL).
Putin disappointed me when he only asked for Medvedchuk in the prisoner exchange. He should have asked for Assange in exchange for the Brit mercenaries, just to watch them twist in the wind in front of their US Masters. Maybe something to consider in the next round. It would win a lot of points in the western public if he even made the effort publicly.

LOL Psycho don’t worry I am grateful for all your commentary as I too am someone who feels some form of socialism is a natural human way to live not merely an ideology. I get upset here when disingenuous posters undermine really good socialist commentary just for the sake of putting it down.
As for metaphors, I don’t know.
For me I see this time as part of the learning curve of humanity. I see it as a culmination of the error laden enlightenment period with its false elevation of western science and of the later rise of Liberal individualism. I find it fascinating that Marx wrote amidst the rise if liberalism proving that in nature including humans, a balancing force always appears.
The US UK EU became the epicentre of degenerative individualism or egoism to all our detriment but hopefully as a lesson for the whole world. These grand themes take centuries to play out.
Because I feel that this world is a place in the space /time field, and not the be and end all of consciousness, I don’t think utopia is a possibility or an option. But I do think we should all strive for a world of equality, kindness and love.
In actual fact this has everything to do with real human politics but human politics is not what happens in the west at least.

First, congratulations on interesting ancestry. By earlier accounts she was a charming lady who would have graced any movie set (!).
A cooling period is overdue cyclically right now. I moved south to Mexico partly in anticipation – didn’t want to weather another Minimum in Canada! That said, I wonder if the snow in Poland last week presages a cool winter in that zone. Seems a bit early to me…
If you really want to twist the cake knife, tell any German you know to go ‘bake a cake!’ Those with gas rationed to between 2 and 4 am won’t be happy!
I have a sneaking suspicion that something is going to get worked out in a few months as the winter hits and German reserves clearly won’t be enough to last through until March. But terrible things have been done to populations in the past and their leadership classes didn’t relent so it’s possible again of course…

The “RAND report” defies the usual standards of fake news and gets the story right! . . .to be applauded.
The purported plot involved goading Russia into attacking Ukraine, which would force the EU to impose sanctions on Russia and decouple their economies from Russian energy.
The resulting damage to EU member states, particularly Germany, would undermine the EU’s political power and potential for pursuing policies independent from the US – and it would trigger an outflow of capital and skilled labor from Europe to the US, according to the plan as described by Nya Dagbladet.

Now the economies are set for destruction, stoking European innate hatred of Russia this mad plan for a defacto war with Russia was hatched that includes the insanity of cutting energy. With the European love of Greta and all things Green the fools actually believed this would work. So now Europe heads for 3rd world status, deindustrialized, blackouts, and insane energy bills. And there was some angst that the exchange wasn’t as “reciprocal” as some would like, and included Azov scum.
Assange has *nothing* to do with the SMO and is absolutely nothing to do with Russia.
There is no way Russia wants to, or will conflate an issue that has nothing to do with them into the Ukrainian SMO action.
The government that *should* be belligerently demanding that Assange be released is the Australian government.

The way I see it, nothing is being exposed. Not at MoA or everywhere these kinds of “perspectives, discussions and reports” are made. All little known Nothing-Burgers in the big scheme of things. I (and believe most people) only come to MoA et al for some respite from the pervading madness.
But there is no ‘political movement’. There is no ethical fifth column poised to bring down the corrupt incompetent lying 4th estate. There is no grand enlightenment of the masses going on. No one is going to save Julian Assange or Snowdon for being truth-tellers reporting the facts about reality. It is still far more likely they will end up like MLK and RFK instead.
Reactionary Populism in Italy or anywhere else isn’t going to save anyone from anything. It will only be more of the same. Putin is not going to save America or Europe or change anything nor influence things in the West for the better – if only people knew.
iow nothing is changing anytime soon or the years ahead. Especially not in Washington DC, Langley or in the Pentagon. It does not matter who wins the elections either because still nothing will change in America. War or no war in Ukraine. MoA or no MoA.

@123 jared
Interesting analogy when applied to the bar here and what we are attempting to do.
I think the individual retains what he knows and would not fall back in with the sheeple. Perhaps he could but he would not be himself, then, but an actor portraying himself inflicting deep psychological turmoil onto his inner being while holding it back
It is important to remember, it is not just about the individual and their quest to some kind of fulfillment or knowledge of the logos or revealed truth. It is also about the people he belongs to in a group, the society which he has been brought to self-consciousness only through the establishment of a greater number of humans.
What was the silly thing about our current situation is the gall, the hubris, of our elite to think they could somehow keep spirit back, to withhold the advancement of civilization through economic domination and subservience.
Take away the gun.
We will come at you with a knife.
Take away our cars, we will take away our labor.
Try to sterilize us, you will not be able to get to us all.
Wwhat is happening now will be unbelievably cataclysmic for them. For us, it is just a bump in the road on our way to the gathering of beings towards knowledge of the absolute.

writes “…the slow degradation of everything until we are living in a society that resembles China?”
Ignorance and arrogance are exactly why “slow degradation” lies ahead. I suggest Omninom pay China a visit. Even an American can be cured of ignorance and arrogance. Who knows, he may then pray for living in a society that resembles China.
Posted by: amused | Sep 26 2022 23:14 utc | 105
Amused @105
I suggest that the US society was aptly analyzed by Michael Moore in his movies – in one of them, (I believe it was about the Columbine school shooting), he observed that Americans are taught to be afraid… and to counter the perceived threats. In a way, the US society is in worse shape than the Chinese society – looking at them from a distance. It is “beyond my paygrade” to discuss the different societal norms prevailing in those two societies, leading to the relative homogeneity and complacency of individuals. The overall attitude of mistrust, spying on each other, denouncing “bad behavior”, “suspicious behavior”, was noticeable in the US even before 9/11.
If one somehow deviates from the “norm” in the USA – it will be reported – for good or for bad. But if you are chummy with the local sheriff, or mayor, or congressman, or senator, or newspaper editor – you may get out of the pinch…. So, in a nutshell – I believe omninom@60 may have a point.

One of my personal favorites was from way back in 2006 April 28, 14:35

Classified By: Ambassador for reasons 1.4 (b) and (d).
Summary
——-
1. (C) During an April 28 meeting with Ambassador, Our
Ukraine (OU) insider Petro Poroshenko emphatically denied he
was using his influence with the Prosecutor General to put
pressure on Tymoshenko lieutenant Oleksandr Turchynov (refs A
and B). Coalition talks with the Tymoshenko Bloc (BYuT) were
continuing, but there was no progress to report; President
Yushchenko still seemed unwilling to accept Tymoshenko as
prime minister and was “listening” to influential advocates
of cooperation with the Party of Regions. Poroshenko claimed
that he was personally opposed to an “Orange-Blue” pairing.
Poroshenko related that he had spoken at length with
Tymoshenko on April 27; she had sought, and then spurned, his
assistance in forming a BYuT-OU coalition in the Kiev city
council. Poroshenko confided that he had spoken with
Tymoshenko during the Orthodox Easter weekend (April 22-23);
she had called him to ask “what he wanted” in return for his
support for her serving again as PM. Poroshenko said he had
replied that he wanted her to be more flexible and less
high-handed in the coalition talks. Poroshenko groused that
Tymoshenko could not be trusted, stressing that she was not
candid and not “principled.” It was very possible,
Poroshenko warned, that there could be a crisis scenario in
which Tymoshenko and Yushchenko simply could not get a
coalition deal done.

Re Don Bacon @142,
Those weren’t “blunders” the US and EU committed in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, they deliberately destabilized those regions expressly to 1) weaken them economically so that they wouldn’t be able to compete with the US/EU countries, 2) create millions of refugees that would destabilize the neighboring countries (further weakening them economically) and 3) shift through those millions of refugees taking the young men they wanted so they could suppress the wages of low skilled laborers in Western countries (don’t you think it’s odd that so many foreign skilled professionals, doctors, nurses and engineers end up working as taxi drivers, secretaries and clerks in the West, even though they are excessively overqualified for those jobs? it’s because Western governments believe that having a higher skilled worker, forced to do menial labour, enables the business to apply the additional productivity of an educated worker to what would normally be a low-skill job. Effectively, stealing the wealth from this additional productivity, while paying the worker only the normal (i.e. “low skilled”) wage. Forcing low skill workers to compete at a disadvantage vs refugees.
The problem with this economic practice is that it is like taking heroin on a treadmill, they can’t stop, they have to keep pillaging other countries to keep domestic wages low in order to compete and because the West is basically kidnapping other people in order to keep their economies going, they dont invest in their own Populus to keep their national economies stable. So the comparative wealth of the “West” is in decline relative to the rest of the world, yes, the Middle East and Africa is still poorer than America, but it is relatively less poor than it was 50/20/10 yrs ago. This is the real crisis the West is facing because the West relies on arbitraging the relative wealth disparage between the West vs Africa/Middle East/Far East in order to extract profit in the form of the stolen productivity of the populations they extract as refugees/migrants. We have now passed the tipping point when the cost of destroying these countries in order to steal the productivity of the population exceeds the value they will get from it. Unless the West can defeat Russia, the West will now have to start cannibalizing itself, currently the US is cannibalizing the Germany and EU economies and might be able to buy itself another 1-2yrs but we will see a disaster dominos process in the West as countries start imploding in Economic and Political crisis. This can only end in revolution either A) Economic revolution; the end of Neo-Liberalism/Globalist market theory – replaced with a more nationalist/Autarky concept of the economy – B) Political revolution; the current crop of Western elites and institutions are exterminated and the West suffers through 10+yrs of chaos trying to find/create replacements

Similar to the Twilight Zone story @jared | Sep 27 2022 1:07 utc | 123

Once upon a time, long long ago, in a city far far away, lived a wise old king who ruled his people with love, justice, mercy, wisdom and kindness.
In the city was a deep well providing pure sparkling clear water all year round. This is the city’s only water source and all the city’s residents, including the king, drink from this well.
One night a wicked witch, sent by the king’s enemies from a distant land, poisons the well with a magic potion. All who drink of the poisoned water will be overcome by madness. As she slips away quietly, she is spotted by the watchman who guards the city walls near the well.
Secretly the watchman reports the witch’s actions to the wise king. Morning soon arrives, but before the king has made a decision, the people of the city begin to drink from the well. By noon all the city’s residents, apart from the king and the watchman, have turned mad.
Still the watchman and the king do not drink from the well.
The people begin to whisper to one another as the day proceeds – the king is behaving strangely lately. Rumour spreads; the king has lost his mind and his reason.
“We cannot be ruled by a madman,” they say, and fast come together as a heaving mass to overthrow their revered ruler.
As the rebellion begins, the king orders a goblet of the well’s water to be brought before him immediately. He and the watchman drink from the goblet.
When the mob reaches the hall’s of the palace, the rebellion is quelled and the people rejoice: For the King has miraculously regained his wisdom!

Though I cringe when I hear “can only” and “either/or” …. history might suggest that the least likely outcomes are economic and political revolution. It rarely happens.
imo the more likely scenario is one of a continuing disasters and crises. Of severe social dislocation, disruption and destruction. Ongoing rage erupting, and violent groups pitted against each other and whatever state forces remain. Along with a steady ongoing hollowing out of civilisation as we’ve known it. Transportation, health care, education, agriculture, manufacturing, finance, food supply, energy and water, everything torn to shreds. Kind of like Afghanistan, Iraq, a Libya, Yemen, Cambodia, Laos or a Syria being bombed back into the dark ages for many many decades.

I haven’t read all postings here, but I saw that several people asked why Germans allow this to happen. Some people mentioned the german guilt complex over WW2, which is a large part of the explanation, for sure.
A while ago I discovered a quote from the Austrian author Franz Werfel, which he wrote in his novel „Stern der Ungeborenen“ (Star of the Unborn) – written in 1944(!) – which I posted here already a couple of months ago. I give it again:

Between World War Two and Three, the Germans pushed themselves to the forefront of humanitarianism and all-goodness. The use of the word ‘humanitarian sentimentalism’ cost forty-eight hours of arrest or a correspondingly large sum of money. Most of the Germans also took what they understood by humanity and goodness extremely seriously. After all, they had longed to be popular for centuries. Humanity and kindness now seemed to them the best way to achieve this goal. They even found it far more comfortable than heroism and racial doctrine. […] They were the inventors of the ungrateful ethic of ‘selfless importunity’. For recreation, the educated among the Heinzelmännchen gave philosophical lectures at adult education centres, in Protestant churches and even in Reform synagogues, their monotonous theme always being devoted to man’s fraternal duty. Without duty, there was no way, just as the basic German conception of life consisted in the ‘worship of the unpleasant’. They were, in a word, real sheep in sheep’s clothing. But since they were even this convulsively, no one believed them, and they were thought to be wolves.

Mind you again….this words were written while WW2 was still on!
In addition you have to take into account that (West)Germany went through a very long phase of prosperity – in which the state and the media could build the impression that they indeed lived in a fundamentally „good“ country. That there may be some black sheep and scoundrels among the „elite“ and maybe even many. But that at the heart of things they still live in a „good“ system. At least that ist he impression that a lot of my countrymen give me. Even my own parents (61 and 65 years old) thought so for a long time – and even now they have a hard time believing what is happening, at all. Especially my father tends to agree with me more and more, but still you can feel how torn he is really believing what is happening.
And people who break away from that thinking, are instantly labeled with all kinds of terms, like „conspiracy theorist“. So….for me it’s not so much a mystery why Germans are like they are – but the more interesting question is: How come that some people do NOT succumb to this kind of thinking? I can answer this question for me personally – but the explanation doesn’t necessarily apply to other people.

Germans are not stupid. Germany is selling only 12k cars per year to Russia, but 400k to USA. This is just automobiles. Germans export a total of $120 billion to USA annually, but only $30 billion to Russia. Germany has heavily been dependent on exports to USA. This has been the real dependence. Germans had no option but to obey the USA, for better or worse, just like Japan is dependent on USA. Germany and Japan made a big mistake starting world war 2 and they lost it, and ever since they have been serving America and United Kingdom. That is the hard reality.

The USA does not care about friendship, which is seen as fickle and pays no dividends, and cannot compel respect. Instead it seeks to be feared as its oligarchs use money pushed into their hands by the wealthy and powerful around the world to purchase everything worth stealing at fire-sale prices. This will likely change as a result of the current campaign against Russia, China, Europe and the global south, but it will probably come too late to save Europe.

I think it’s because some people are still in touch with their gut feelings and can smell a rat. LIke being able to see the naked Emperor. Its nothing special you just have to be brave enough to stop lying to yourself and others.
I was just discussing this with my daughter yesterday. A willingness to lose face and admit one might be wrong about everything one believes.
Sorry for continuing off topic but its a quiet day.

NS2 de-compressing carries a certain symbolism to the life leaking out of the EU’s economy. They are now 100% dependent on foreign sea-borne LNG shipments. The good thing is that if you don’t have a healthy economy, you don’t need gas, either.

Several aspects may change with regard to the shift from SMO to declared war and associated anti-terrorist operations within the newly re-acquired Russian territory. Attacks on these territories, especially against civilian targets, will result in an escalated tit-for-tat. If bombs land on Donetsk then 10 times more will land on Kiev concentrated on civilian leadership. If NATO-supplied weapons are used then NATO will receive targeting most likely beginning with eliminating the AWACS and satellites but could also involve the railheads in Poland and/or repair facilities. All bets are off beginning on Sunday. If it continues then we can expect some Kinzhals to hit specific targets such as Ramstein AFB and NATO HQ and any other planning areas such as MI-6 in the UK. Nothing will limit this.
If the US is understanding this then I expect a quiet removal of all support for Ukraine and the movement of US forces out of Poland. It will be yet another “Nice seeing you…suckers!!!” from the US, as has happened so many times in the past. The US creates the mess and then abandons it.
Meanwhile, the EU populace may be rising up (eventually once the pain dial goes to 10) and it will be bonfires and pitchforks. Once the EU and affiliated leadership are eliminated and populist governments are instilled, then we may be facing a mass hatred of Americans worldwide. I experienced this in Europe in the early 70s during the Vietnam War so it can get dicey fast. All it takes is one charismatic leader to sound the trumpets and rally the masses and it will be all over. I pity the refugees that will become the brunt of attacks by the mobs including all Ukrainians and all ME leeches. It will be in the Spring when the actual hunger issues start and when we will see the masses revolt. Perhaps the war will be over by January as I assume there is no ammunition left and none forthcoming from their western allies. Everyone has shot their wad and has nothing left except nukes.
This will be the ripe time for China to make their move on Taiwan and for Iran, Lebanon, and Syria to take revenge on Israel as the US will be completely incapable of assistance. I wouldn’t want to be an American soldier in Iraq or Syria after December.

You might enjoy this interview from Australia of a lady who worked in China and has her eyes and heart opened. Its a very different take than the title suggests.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb3Il-8lDK4
G’day K,
Thanks a lot for this video reference.
Great interview and a great lady.
Obviously she is doing her bit to change our world and assist in its coming transformation.
Arguably in the new world coming governance arrangements will increasingly devolve down to communitarian grass roots levels in which everyone will be involved to the extent of their capabilities. Then we will no longer be able to complain about central governments stuffing up our lives. WHY? Because if (when) communities make their own decisions and implement them, it is not possible to blame others (central authorities) for failure. Faults will be more obvious and correctable.
Christ Jesus told us what’s required to progress towards utopia. We need to learn to love neighbour (everyone and everything) AS self (we need to learn to love self so that we can love others) FOR the love of God (ALL that is).
Notice that everyone can strive to do this. We don’t have to protest publicly or seek to change others,we just have to change ourselves. That is the key. Bruce Lipton indicates how we can start to do that:

This is a good write-up but misses the reason Europe is willing to commit seppuku: climate change hysteria, part of the Build Back Better agenda. BBB will be used to destroy people’s lives, then introduce digital currency, a digital ID, and finally a social credit system as “solutions.” That’s why the WEF-led politicians are pursuing their reckless sanctions and Ukraine policy.

But there is no ‘political movement’. There is no ethical fifth column poised to bring down the corrupt incompetent lying 4th estate. There is no grand enlightenment of the masses going on.
G’day SeanAU,
I disagree cobber.
There is a covert movement afoot to remove the Talmudic Khazarian Mafia and their minions and enablers globally.
Putin and his Russian supporters are part of that movement as is Xi Jinping and his supporters who are eliminating the Khazarian elements in the CCP and seguing China into a genuine representative republic as we speak. A peaceful multi polar world is already being formed, prefigured by the BRICs.
Russia’s SMO is obviously cleansing the Ukraine as we know.
What is not so obvious though, is that Trump and his supporters are doing the same thing in the US. Moreover, Trump has organised a global Alliance that is doing similar clandestine work in the UK, EU, Australia*, NZ and elsewhere.
* See eg: Riccardo Bosi and AustraliaOne.
The absurd antics of Brandon, NATO and the EU evidence these imminent changes.
The global financial crash is under way and it, along with Russia’s kinetic efforts, as necessary, will result in the complete elimination of the Khazarian Mafia and their minions.
All we have to do is visualise how we want our world to become because it is happening.

Re:SeanAU @158,
When I say revolution, dont mean it in the edge lord college student sense, I mean old school French/American-style Revolution, in the two paths I envision, an Economic Revolution would be the most “peaceful” and least violent compared to a Political Revolution; however an Economy revolution would be comparable to the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union, many of the previous economic structures (even some of the good ones) would be thrown away in a mad dash to replace it with something, anything that *might* work better, it would be disastrous, but as Russia has shown a country can recover from it once it finds a model that works and it can even emerge stronger than before. A Political Revolution would be extremely violent (a la the French, American or Russian revolutions) and while it would also entail economic reforms, these reforms would be insignificant compared to the massive political reforms (which again to be clear would mean lots and lots of deaths among the political elites and average citizens), more over there is no telling if these political reforms would lead to a future net positive or negative change in the country (it could even lead to a break-up of the country). Generally speaking, though, when countries descend into political violence, it is the most radical and violent groups that emerge strongest, so that does not augur well if Western countries start suffering political revolutions.
The current path of the Western governments show that they are desperate to maintain the existing economic and political structures and that they are even willing to sacrifice their economies to save their political and economic model (just look at Germany torching their own economy in hopes of an imagined “Green” Economy). *IF* they found a new economic model that worked, they *might* be able to save their political model. but as it is, it looks like the nothing they are trying is working so they will end up with a political revolution though it might take 2-5yrs for people to get so fed up with their economic failures that an actual political revolution (i.e. torches and pitchforks) takes place. The worst-case scenario would be West trying to go to War with Russia (for the 2nd time in 100 yrs) to seize their resources in order to re-capitalize their economies that would certainly lead to the utter destruction of the West as it is obvious that the West no longer has the resources to launch a sustained attack on either Russia or China (or even Iran)

Russia has no reason to take out Nordstream 2.
In fact, Biden admitted his crooked admin would take out Nordstream 2 back in Feb.
Pres. Biden: “If Russia invades…then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it.”
Reporter: “But how will you do that, exactly, since…the project is in Germany’s control?”
Biden: “I promise you, we will be able to do that.”

Well, of course not. However, as we all know from MSM, Russians have been shelling the NPP they were sitting on, why shouldn’t they just as well destroy the pipeline they own. The more absurd the story is, the more people might eat it.
Now measurements from the Swedish National Seismic Network show that two distinct explosions were measured in the area on Monday. One of them had a magnitude of 2.3, similar to a noticeable earthquake, and was recorded at monitoring stations across the country.
– You can clearly see the waves bouncing from the bottom to the surface. There is no doubt that it was a blast or explosion. We even had a station in Kalix that picked this up,’ says Björn Lund, associate professor of seismology and director of the Swedish National Seismic Network, which measures Swedish earthquakes and explosions.

The third scenario is the most likely, according to Christian Spohr. It involves using unmanned submarines – drones – to place the explosives.
“Here you send drones down to examine the material and dimensions, and then you can make calculations on what type of explosive, how much and what form of ignition to use,” he says.
In principle, the charge can be placed well in advance, even months before, although this increases the risk of technical failure. The longer in advance, the bigger the battery needed.
“Then you can get remote, and use acoustic, timed or electronic igniters. Acoustic is particularly suitable because the signal is carried well through the water,” explains the former sailor.
An acoustic igniter is triggered by a sound signal at a specific frequency, which it is programmed to ‘hear’.
“You can easily be a kilometre away and set off the explosive charge. And theoretically you can be infinitely far away – it’s just a matter of setting up enough relays,” he says.

I am sceptical of German manufacturing successfully transferring production to the US, simply because of the vast differences in labour, skill, dedication and wages. It’s not just that the Germans are great at building factories and running them, but that they work so well because there are German standards for union participation, for R&D, for broader social integration that the US can never hope to match. There’s a reason US manufacturing fell behind its competitors….

On Germany having ‘lost for the thrid time’, I think this is very premature. Germany, at the heart of the EU, is fighting U.S./Britain with a continental economic system at its back. At the same time, to really garner pan-European support, Germany would have to fundamentally re-work its presence within the European economy.
I have published my own research on the ‘German’ issue here:
