German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the increase in heating prices in Germany a “social explosive” and expressed concern about the rising cost of energy. “If all of a sudden the heating bill goes up by a couple of hundred euros, that’s an amount that many people can’t really handle. It’s a social explosive,” he said.
Let’s take a calculator…
The population of Germany, according to the Federal Office of Statistics of the Federal Republic of Germany, is just over 83 million people, of which about 53 million are of working age (they consider it in the range of 15-64). so-called. There are almost 41 million households.
Even if we assume that each household now pays 200 euros more for heating, then subsidies from the state should be more than 8 billion euros.
Why are we talking about subsidies from Berlin? Because the rise in energy prices, and, accordingly, for heating, is the work of the German government. It must pay. Now about the amount. It is comparable to what official Berlin transfers to Ukraine, if you add up the direct and indirect components, including paying for the murders of the Slavs.
So what’s the problem, Herr Scholz? Pay for your mistakes. Pay for a warm life for your citizens, since you have enough money (but conscience, alas …) to pay for the death of strangers.

– Maria Zakharova

Ok, so to synthesize a bit, it sounds like the US is destabilizing Turkish economy like crazy to get its will in things like Nato expansion and saying it is Islamic law’s fault. One would like to hasten to add that the US reading of the economic situation of its opponents has proved to be defective, Russia being but one case in point. And why do other Islamic economies thrive then? Is It due to the US, as in the case of the House of Saud? Discuss.

Re: the EU being competition for the USA, the picture which has emerged is one of the US deep state playing EU consumers against American consumers, so in that manner the EU is competing with “us” for things like energy now that they have severed their ties to Russian LNG and oil. That is known as the Biden Gas Price Hike, but by all means the petrol companies are complicit as their profits are reaching insane margins. Wonder how much oil industry stock happens to be in the portfolios of people like Joe Tzu, Mitch McTurtle and Nancy Peloser? How convenient too, since they’re all finally on the verge of retirement…I hope.

Perhaps the US is trying to establish another country with a sufficiently high firearm-related death-rate to make its own look reasonable? And it needs a war-zone to make it happen. However, even the 14,000 Russian speaking Ukrainians murdered before the start of the SMO pale into insignificance in comparison to the 40,000 plus annual American firearm victims – including a 911 of dead children every two years, making fire-arms the highest disaggregated cause of death for American children.

I don’t think comparing 1994 prices to 2020 prices is very useful.
According to this:
https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1995?endYear=2020&amount=6800
6800 in 1995 dollars was in 2020 dollars 11548 and change.
Still cheaper than US planes, of course.

The losses of the Ukrainian army in the Donbass, including Mariupol and the southern flank, are estimated at about 110-120 thousand people (including dead, wounded and prisoners). That is, half of the Ukrainian army has already been neutralized.
The cleansing of the Severodonetsk-Lysichansk-Gorskoye-Zolotoye line once again proved that the AFU has less and less combat-ready formations, and mobilized citizens are surrendering given the first chance.
The issue of the destruction of the Ukrainian army is determined not by the capture of Kiev, but by the defeat of two enclaves – Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, where not only the most armed part of the group is located, but also the headquarters of the command “North” and “East”.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine now have only two options: either leave Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, and then retreat to the Dnieper (or immediately to Kiev), or die.
It is difficult to say exactly when the Russian army will reach Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, but it will not be that long a wait.

4 (or 5) citizens died in Ukrainian attack on Belgorod city. Most of them were Ukrainian refugees.
Tonight, from 03.00 AM to 03.30 AM (Moscow time), the Kiev regime launched an intentional attack by Tochka-U ballistic missiles with cluster munitions and Tu-143 Reys unmanned aerial vehicles at the residential areas of Belgorod and Kursk that have no military facilities.
❗️ I emphasise that this missile attack had been intentionally planned and was launched at civilian population of Russian cities.
▫️ Russian air defence means have destroyed all the 3 Tochka-U ballistic missiles launched by Ukrainian nationalist at Belgorod. Fragments of one of the destroyed Ukrainian missiles fell down at a residential buildings in the city.

The military summary channel is reporting that the Russians are already in the process of taking Siversk and the Ukie front is continuing to collapse. The Russians crossed the Siversky-Donetsk river west of Siversk, creating an attack from behind and threatening encirclement. Now we may have all of the Ukies around Siversk (20,000?) attempting to retreat under fire to escape encirclement.
With the Russian increasing shelling of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk it looks like the Russians are planning to open up that front to a new attack very soon as well.

The shock will be massive, Liz Truss and Bojo will be good for a bit of comedy as well as the German and French Bojos. The US Dumb and Dumber will also be entertaining. Incidentally, Dnipro is a town on the river Dnieper.
Military Summary also talked about a possible amphibious landing to get around the Dnieper, facilitating the taking of Odessa. Would be excellent strategy to wait until as many forces as possible have been removed from Odessa to hold up first the Donbass salient and then the Dneiper defence line before attempting an amphibious landing. Also, Ukie military morale would be at rock bottom and if the Zelensky regime hadn’t already collapsed that would be the last nails in the coffin (also forestalls any crazy Romanian/Moldavan move into southern Ukraine.
Then winter comes to Northern Europe….

“Macron says he doesn’t want to ‘annihilate’ Russia”. Macron admits he wants Russia to lose in Ukraine but not to “annihilate” it as the Anglo-Saxons proclaim. Macron appears to be attempting to remain on the fence:

Filmed on a train back from Kiev last month, Macron explained that talking to Putin is necessary to prevent the conflict in Ukraine from becoming a wider war. Describing “Anglo Saxon” leaders as pushing the message that “we must annihilate Russia, weaken it permanently,” Macron said that his goal is instead to “help Ukraine to win,” and “not to fight against Russia, let alone annihilate it.”
Whatever the practical similarities between Macron’s approach and that of his US and UK counterparts, all of whom have provided Kiev with weapons and ammunition, there exists a clear difference in rhetoric between France and the “Anglo Saxon” world.
While US President Joe Biden has accused Russia of committing “genocide” in Ukraine, Macron has cautioned the West against bandying around such loaded terms. Likewise, he has dismissed requests from Kiev that he declare Russia a “sponsor of terrorism.”

As you read further, it’s clear the difference between France and the other Outlaws is thinner than a hair, and of course none are ready to face the reality that their stalking horse is on its way to the glue factory. As often mentioned, “NATO’s” largest army within Europe is routed and now dysfunctional. There’s zip NATO can do to alter the tactical or strategic situation within Ukraine as Russia continues to attain the SMO’s goals. Indeed, NATO is rapidly weakening itself in trying to change the situation, while the Outlaw US Empire’s sanctions war on the EU is escalating domestic tensions to the breaking point.
Meanwhile, Russia, China and the entire Global South grow stronger daily while the Collective West grows weaker. Don’t forget to subtract what’s called Financial Services from national GDPs not once but twice as they’re NOT income but overhead expenses, along with other categories like health insurance costs, the latter of which is a 16% overhead cost for the Outlaw US Empire’s economy that must be subtracted twice too. Essentially, as Rentier free lunch “income” grows, GDP declines. And the debacle that’s causing within every Collective West nation is why Ukraine is the focus–distraction. Zakharova’s words cited above are an excellent example.

“Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on residential areas of Belgorod and Kursk”:

The goal of the Kiev regime is to strike the residential areas of cities with unguided weapons. This is far from the first time something similar has happened.
We understand that these actions of the regime in Kiev were not only agreed upon with its western superintendents but were also most likely prompted by them. They do this to force us into striking back in a similar fashion so they can carry on hyping their anti-Russian hysteria.
We have abstained from making such steps, but we will be monitoring these developments very carefully. Those who have been acting in this fashion should be aware that they will have to pay if these provocations continue.

I expect the missiling of several more command posts harboring NATO advisors to soon be reported by Russia.

Continuing the conversation with Bill Gruff:
NemesisCalling @196: “When there are no more swastika-laden dummies… then what will Russia then call their adversary?”
As long as the Russians have an imperial adversary it will be Nazis. That is what Nazis are: Fascist zombies who are remote controlled by their “brains” in the mass media, the church, and other centers of narrative control to attack the Soviet Union, with Russia being a stand-in for the Soviet Union. There will not be a time when the empire is attacking Russia when it will not be using Nazis.
Posted by: William Gruff | Jul 3 2022 11:27 utc

Thx, Gruff. I have no problem with Russians calling anyone who knocks on their door in a queer way a “Nazi.”
That’s their perogative. And perhaps they do have a good reason to speak about their enemy in such a way.
But you must understand: the Nazis of Germany, the NSDAP, were not motivated entirely by Russophobia. We must not dull our understanding of history by neglecting to mention the myriad reasons which led to the NSDAP’s rise to power, both its perfectly reasonable motivations as well as its ones that are less so.
That is what my problem is here with this whole debate or lack of one. By opening up the question as to what makes a Nazi a Nazi, if you are being intellectually honest, you open yourself up to difficult questions that I admit perhaps can blunt the effect of propaganda during a current war.
But as I have mentioned before and will so again now: the west will not listen to Russia wrt its joint-appeal to “its partners” to eradicate Nazism. Why? Because the globalists in the wests are goading the deluded-Nationalists on as we all know.
So when I say that not only does it not make sense for us in the west to call what is adversadial to Russia currently as “Nazi,” so too does it serve no purpose to Russians to call them Nazi either, although I am sure there is catharsis in wiping out deluded-Nationalists with swastikas, who are vehemently Russophobic.
It’s a head-scratcher.

Lavrov again answers a question posed by the TV program Moscow. Kremlin. Putin:

Question: The expression “Western liberalism” has been heard before. Now it’s even more important and interesting. Do you think it’s doomed?
Sergey Lavrov: Liberalism? Now neoliberal doctrine and policy are speaking. Just look at the problems now raging in the West. And they are connected not only with the natural course of things in the sphere of economy and trade – there were ups and downs–but are artificially created for themselves by the West itself. President Vladimir Putin spoke about this in detail when he explained the epistemology of the current food and energy crises caused by the ill-conceived, hasty and obviously selfish policies of Western states. This also applies to sanctions, which did not appear yesterday and are aimed at punishing any dissenters, subordinating them to their will and interests, ignoring the needs of everyone else.
Everyone should draw conclusions based on real facts: who and how coped with the coronavirus infection, is now engaged in the energy crisis, who is trying to speculate in the grossest way on food security, accusing Russia of something that our country is absolutely not guilty of and in which it is not fully involved.
The food crisis is being used for various purposes not only in the field of propaganda – to “whitewash” Ukraine, once again to “hang all the dogs” (pardon the rude expression) on Moscow, but if you listen to the statements, for example, of Boris Johnson and his “minister” for foreign affairs, you will see that they are clearly trying to create conditions, to find pretexts for the Royal Navy to infiltrate the Black Sea and almost lead all the processes of releasing grain from the mined Ukrainians. ports, which the Ukrainians themselves are obliged to clear mines.
We observe many manifestations of “convulsions” in the actions of Western politicians. All this is happening against the backdrop of a sharp deterioration in the situation at home (in Western countries) and according to such principles of neoliberal democracy requires distraction of the population’s attention, especially given the fact that every 2, 3, 4 years you have to go to the polls, be responsible for fulfilling your promises, and there is nothing to surprise.
It is not for nothing that some political scientists have been talking for years about the need to rethink the line that a country that is not a liberal democracy is not legitimate. They offer to see how states with a strong central government (they call them autocratic, authoritarian regimes) overcome the crisis phenomena in the world economy, which somehow ricochet from these countries.
Reflections on which state structure best meets the requirements of today are still evident among political scientists. They need to be watched. [My Emphasis]

It appears Russians have a very good understanding of how Neoliberalism works and for whom it works for. And that of course guides Russia’s policy as it understands the captured nature of the people living within Neoliberal oppressed nations. RT picked up on Lavrov’s suspicion the British are trying to “infiltrate the Black Sea.” I’ve chosen a different article to link which will be in my next comment.

This one I found funny yet sad, “Germany fears losing its power with Ukraine in EU”:

Germany fears that if Ukraine becomes a full-fledged EU member, Berlin will see its influence within the bloc erode, The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday, citing a senior diplomatic source.
Olaf Scholz, Germany’s chancellor, apparently discussed the matter with EU leaders in Brussels behind closed doors. According to the outlet’s source, he urged an overhaul of the EU treaty system before Ukraine’s membership bid is approved.
At the heart of the concern is the EU voting system that factors in the number of countries voting and their respective populations, a reality that would grant Ukraine a strong leverage within the bloc. Moreover, according to an analysis by the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, if Kiev joins the EU, it would be its fifth-largest member, but also the poorest.
It is also possible that Kiev may join efforts with Poland or other Eastern and Central European nations to sideline such core EU states as Germany and France.

The treaty system will never be overhauled as it completely suits the Outlaw US Empire’s purposes and aims for the further colonization of EU. Funny yet sad those misleading Germany are blind to what’s being done to them. Germany lost whatever “influence” it had long ago, well before the 2014 Ukraine Coup–that is, if it actually had any influence before.

I linked and commented upon that item yesterday, and Bolton isn’t saying what you wrote. He opined that Ukraine must be freed and have its sovereignty and territorial integrity returned. I asked how he intended to accomplish that since NATO lacks the 500K man Army and Airforce along with weapons that work to even begin the task. The tool Bolton used to destroy Iraq no longer exists, a reality he’s partly responsible for.

“Macron says he doesn’t want to ‘annihilate’ Russia.”
I often wonder whether these people are for real. Are they totally brainwashed and actually believe their own PR, or do they see the real situation, but orders are orders, and one must stay on the message, if one is receive one’s next cheque, or at least, avoid having a tragic accident. What do the psychologists say about people like this?
I tend to think it’s a bit of both. It helps enormously to have an oaf follow the script, even if he knows it’s only a script, because another script is used to convince him that all that is necessary for a higher purpose. An oaf can then lie with equanimity in firm belief that he is doing a service to humanity.

Germany lost whatever [EU] “influence” it had long ago, well before the 2014 Ukraine Coup–that is, if it actually had any influence before.

Whoa. While I mostly tend to agree or fully agree with your many insightful posts, this is totally backwards.
The entire Euro system depends on German influence, i. e. blackmailing and bribery. The French, Italians and Spanish, not to speak of the Greek, despise German dominance of the Euro zone.
Yanis Varoufakis, short-term Greece finance minister, once opposed bailing out banks. His then German counter, Wolfgang Schäuble, literally put the gun to his head: either prop up the banks or Greece default.
Or quite recently: An internal Ford pissing contest turned out the Valencia production site had better long-term prospects than Saarlouis, Germany. The Spanish schadenfreude must have been huge.
In the end, money talks. The idea of the Euro sold to the public was to boost harmonization of living standards across the bloc. Turned out the Euro was too weak for Germany (the north) and too strong for Italy (the south), making southern European products less competitive.
But beware, this sword is two-bladed, too. While Germany made giant profits on the back of “PIGS” (Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain, and to a large extent even France) over quite a long time, this was “reinvested” to Poland, Hungary, the Baltic statelets and the PIGS again, as EU subventions and “incentives”.
Incentives, of course, to toe the Brussels line of the Powers That Be, dominantly managed by Germany’s Atlantic Bridge spearheaded by the embodied Corruption Herself, Ursula von der Leyen.

Excellent op/ed related to G7 oil cap fantasy. And this great quote from its conclusion:

“For his part, Dr Gal Luft, co-director of the US-based Institute for the Analysis of Global Security and a senior adviser to the United States Energy Security Council, believes that JP Morgan’s forecast is a “hypothetical scenario”, and oil will never come to such price level simply because the “world economy will collapse way earlier.”
“Even at $159 a barrel we will see massive demand destruction and global depression. The G-7 leaders are behaving like a bunch of drunken sailors on the deck of a ship in the midst of a storm. They are so consumed with rage and vindictiveness that they cannot see the situation clearly and act according to their nations’ self interest. The summer months will face G7 leaders with their voters and they will get an earful. There will be protests and perhaps even violent ones. No democratically elected leader can outsmart the rules of economics,” Dr Luft pointed out. [Emphasis Original]

Nervous German @175–
I understand your objections but point to who actually rules Germany, and it isn’t the Germans as is being proven so well currently. Germany and the entire EU are at the mercy of the Outlaw US Empire. Russia understands that sad fact and acts accordingly. Germany could easily solve its energy/economic issues by opening NS2, but it doesn’t–Why? It’s been ordered not to, and so it doesn’t.

“…the Nazis of Germany, the NSDAP, were not motivated entirely by Russophobia…” @164
Russophobia was a very minor factor in the rise of the Nazis, like the other weird racist ideas that the Nazis played with and which contributed to their sense of destiny, it was of importance only in neutralising the opposition of the masses.
The great contributor to the Nazi coming to power was the cabal surrounding Hindenburg which intrigued in order to bring Hitler into office, where they relied on him to smash the unions and the
democratic political parties, which they and most of the ruling class, from the junkers, the military officers and industrialists, not to mention the Catholic Church, as well as the financiers of Wall St and The City, regarded as essential to the survival of the capitalist system.
Hitler and Mussolini were both hired by the Foreign Office, at the beginning of their fascist careers, in order to build anticommunist/anti-socialist/anti trade unionist forces for the crisis of the Class War anticipated after the October Revolution.
The importance of anti-slav racism and antisemitism were both related to the demagogic trick of linking bolshevism to jews and slavs, a trick that is still being played despite the appalling crimes it led to. But perhaps I am being overly sensitive?
The single important reason for the Nazis being invited to power was that the ruling class in Germany, with the tacit support of its colleagues across Europe and America, put it in power. They financed its election campaigns. They provided Hitler with a personal ‘plane to take him to rallies. The police gave Nazis thugs impunity (just as in Kiev today). The judges discharged Nazi prisoners for killing communists and burning down Trade union buildings.
Latter day fans of Hitler and neo-nazis like to fantasise about the way that popular enthusiasm- guided by the astonishing brain of that poet of PR Goebbels- swept their champions to power as the working class sacrificed its interest and aspirations, its institutions, its leaders and its comrades in an orgy of Wagnerian nationalist enthusiasm clothed in brown shirts and led by veterans of that great patriotic struggle against perfidious Albion and barbaric Russia headed by William II…
but it is all rubbish, a bricolage of tattered scraps of theatre and rancid rhetoric booming through industrial sound systems.
When Hitler came to power a deep fear pervaded the homes of the poor, the working class knew what had happened and did not have to wait long before the false flag of the Reichstag Fire (blamed on a Communist) led to rule by decree and the first mass arrests. That was followed by a reign of terror without precedent, anywhere outside of British India or the Jim Crow South. And then, when conditions were right and the opposition crippled an “election” in which the result was pre-ordained.
And then, the fun began: Communists were jailed by the thousand, many of them were beaten to death by sadistic guards with whips. The Trade Unions were all taken over into a government/Nazi run Labour Front, their funds were shared out by the thieves kitchen which ran the Nazi Party.
All this is very well known. Hundreds of books, many of them volumes of personal memoirs, have been published on the subject
. But it makes no difference to NemesisCalling.
He/She/They see the Nazis as role models. They see Hitler and his allies, as nasty a crew of perverts and criminals as any historian will find in a lifelong march through the archives and memories, as inspirations for the new order of which they dream.
It beggars belief that the defenders of Auschwitz and Belsen, the book burners and the originators of cancel culture who took every right from the poor (except the right to obey) who killed people for differing with their diktats, the people who massacred hostages by the thousand (Marc Bloch the great historian was one) who killed thirty million Russian and other Soviet citizens, who hanged opponents live on meat hooks, should be demanding that their opinions be given an airing.

Forget one major aspect: Angela Merkel.
While she started to fade during her last months in power, it was only then when the Ukrop war racket went to overdrive, amassing regime troops before the Donbass.
The Outlaw Empire of Lies could totally count on a victory of Olaf Scholz as Merkel’s successor, and along him the khaki-green war party masking as the Greens.
Yes, Russia understands who rules Germany. But still: Gerhard Schröder and Angela Merkel managed to balance things out, the former quite better than the latter — while Scholz is a puppet to his own kompromat, an easily controllable governor of another 51st U.S. state.

A sense of desperately lashing out — in Kaliningrad, Svalbard, wherever — feels consistent with the sketch of drunken rage you share. Poking with long needles until more chaos ensues, whatever needles come to hand, is the apparent “Western” strategy. From where we are, escalation (to outright NATO vs. Russia military conflict) is quite easy to foresee; nearly impossible to forestall. So it appears to me.

Lol 🙂 Jokes aside, Scholz has been involved in several small-scale scandals, which may be cooked up and blown up anytime at will of TPTB. Just two of them:

  • Cum-Ex: SPD in distress for dealing with Warburg [private banking house] donation
  • German lawmakers seek to grill Merkel over Wirecard scandal
  • Scholz is a very shady figure, “smooth as an eel” from the outside, a younger and smaller version of Joe Biden, quite the same intellectual level. But tbh, Joe Tzu makes for better jokes…

    Bevin @ 181:
If you are looking for something in Olaf Scholz’s past as an SPD member and politician working his way through local Hamburg politics and then Federal Bundestag politics, there are a fair few juicy things in his Wikipedia entry.
There are some huge scandals attached to him, not least one scandal in which a drug smuggler died as a result of being forced to take emetics by police so they could get evidence of drug trafficking. This had been authorised by Olaf Scholz while he held the position of Senator for the Interior of Hamburg (which gave him oversight over police and other internal security / law and order issues in Hamburg city-state) in 2001, in spite of the dangers such a law (allowing police to force smugglers to take emetics so they could obtain evidence) posed.
There is a major tax fraud scandal attached to Scholz as well but the full details are not yet known and nothing that links him directly to it has been found so far.
The odd thing about Scholz is that in his youth he really had been an earnest socialist. He clearly did a 180-degree turn during his university years and in his first career as a labour lawyer.

    re: Jen @185,
Regarding Scholz’s switch from earnest socialist fresh out of university to corrupt political hack, I’ve seen that story a thousand times. The details are trivial and gist of it is always the same, he works like a dog networking with people who dont remember his name so he can get noticed so he can become a hatchet man doing tedious jobs for progressively more important people, making backroom agreements and unofficial payments. Eventually he reaches the level were he is doing underhanded, unethical and illegal in order for advancement however by that time he was wholly desensitized to the process which he thinks is normal (which I admit it is) so he leaps in with both feet. The problem is that in prior generations nations had leaders who were 1st and foremost loyal to the state, not a radical transnational Neoliberal economic ideology. Even when most of Europe was unified under the Catholic Church it didnt stop them from pushing back against it. Hell, France is as Catholic as they come and even they kidnapped the Pope more than once. Who is Europe would have the balls to arrest George Soro nowadays (Hungary just banned him from entering their state and the EU had a stroke)

Taking control of the entire territory of the LPR (or DPR) does not guarantee the security of the republic because of the forces and means that the Armed Forces of Ukraine still have. Therefore, the LNR, DPR militias and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have to push the enemy to a distance that would allow LNR and DPR to say that they are completely safe.
This safe distance is ~300 km from the borders of the Republics.

I disagree…. The safe distance is the Polish Border…..

    Immediately after the Reichstag Fire:
“It was a true reign of terror….The Brownshirt bands were not really out of control, as was pretended by the apologists of the régime, but were given free reign by a policy which, though directed primarily against the Communists, was also designed to intimidate other political opponents of the Nazis and even their conservative allies… whole working class suburbs were sometimes sealed off in military-style operations by strong forces of Brown and Blackshirts and police, and searched from attic to cellar with brutal destruction. The aim was to intimidate and demoralize the working class as a whole by invading its strongholds, as if with a conquering army, showing them that they were finally, after so many years, no longer capable of defending themselves… The authorities usually claimed to have found evidence that the Communists had made preparations for armed uprisings and civil war. But, although such searches did in fact bring to light arms which had been hidden… they were on a very small scale and were hardly consistent with anything more than purely defensive purposes.”
This is from Alan Merson’s Communist Resistance in Nazi Germany, for which he traveled to the German Democratic Republic to interview surviving KPD veterans and was given access both to underground Communist documents as well as captured Gestapo records. The latter admitted that the underground KPD was the only domestic threat they feared, even to the last days of the war. For any interested in the anti-Nazi resistance in Germany itself I can’t recommend this work more highly.

Patrick Lancaster has a video up of some interviews with locals in the area of Severodonetsk. He interviews a middle-aged couple and asks them about the Russian SMO. The guy says “We didn’t invite them here, the Ukrainians did.” So they ask him “How is that?” and he answers “For 8 years the Ukrainians said they were fighting the Russians here and the Russians finally got tired of it – ‘So you want to fight Russians? OK then’…” Hilarious. The people who have remained have been waiting for 8 years and are happy. Others have left.

As for Merkel, looking back, I don’t think she balanced things out. But she understood German economy well enough to know what cutting off Russia would mean. She left that to her successors.

    https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2022/07/01/austrian-health-minister-and-medical-profession-dispute-responsibility-for-massive-covid-vaccine-deaths-and-health-damage/
“The US death rate in the Covid year of 2020 was the same as in 2019. The death rate shot up after the vaccination campaign. US insurance companies have reported stunning rises following Covid vaccination. The CEO of health insurer OneAmerica said, “We are seeing, right now, the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business – not just at OneAmerica,” the company’s CEO Scott Davison said during an online news conference this week. “The data is consistent across every player in that business.”
Big Pharma and its agents at NIH, CDC, and FDA, and the responsible politicians and presstitutes will try to control the narrative and conclude that the deaths are Covid deaths due to the waning effectiveness of the “vaccine.” Independent and honest scientists will point out that the deaths were vaccine-induced deaths. Every effort will be made to cover up the mass murder by accusing honest doctors of “spreading misinformation” and taking away their medical licensers for telling the truth.”
    Covid is not the story.
What they did in response, the entire gamut (politically, medically, societally etc.), is the story.

Russian toleration of US neoconservative ambition is leading to war
    Paul Craig Roberts
In her weekly briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zakharova asks the “gentlemen of Brussels and Lithuania” if Russia’s understanding is correct that “you have unleashed a war?” Why does she have to ask the question? Why not make a declarative statement? https://mid.ru/ru/foreign_policy/news/1819949/
Washington is brewing endless problems for Russia. Washington bribed the president of Kazakhstan, whose country Russia recently saved from a US sponsored color revolution, to embarrass Putin at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum by disagreeing with the Kremlin’s intervention in Donbass. US agents are busy at work in Kazakhstan spreading fear that Kazakhstan is next on Putin’s list as he allegedly reconstructs the Soviet Empire. It is Washington’s use of former Soviet provinces against Russia that will finally convince Russia that the dismantling of the empire was a major blunder as it created many new countries that Washington can turn against Russia.
Russia is in a very difficult situation, because her political sophistication or realism is insufficient to support her military capability. The Kremlin is always reactive, never proactive and does not know how to protect Russia’s interest. One important reason the process is loaded against Russia is that Washington has an expansionist ideology and Russia does not. Washington is in pursuit of hegemony, and Russia just wants to be a respected member of the world community.
This is insufficient ambition to deal with Washington’s neoconservatives who intend the destruction of Russia as a sovereign country with sufficient power to serve as a restraint on US unilateralism.
On June 30, Russian President Putin commented on NATO’s inclusion of Finland and Sweden: “We do not have such problems with Sweden and Finland, which, unfortunately, we have with Ukraine. We have no territorial issues and disputes. We have nothing to worry about in terms of Finland and Sweden’s membership in NATO. They want to join NATO – please. Only they should clearly know that there were no threats to them before, but if military contingents and infrastructure are deployed there, we will have to respond in a mirror manner.” https://southfront.org/turkey-agreed-to-sweden-and-finland-joining-nato-putin-is-not-against/
Putin’s acceptance of NATO on Russia’s border for another 832 miles is inconsistent with Russia’s protests of NATO on her borders. It is inconsistent with Russia’s demand for mutual security. The West sees Putin’s statement as acceptance and weakness. It will encourage more provocations.”
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That last paragraph is a good point that RF would be wise to address.
Hmm…. maybe it doesn’t matter because maybe all that matters is the sanctions war triggered by the SMO which will run its relentless course for however long it takes whilst the sanctions war triggers serious changes in both West and East. In that larger context, whether or not Sweden and Finland join an organization which will probably be disbanded fairly soon is of no import. But if that is the reason, then RF cannot say it. So it will not be addressed and be just left hanging, one of several things that don’t quite add up….

The problem is, as I see it, bevin, is that you are a true believer.
Your posts are not philosophically rigorous, but sourced entirely from either the side of the victor or from other true believers (read: trotskyists) such as yourself.
You refuse to entertain conflicting views of your narrative, because it would render impotent your incessant veneration of Soviet Russia as spotless victim.
So when conflicting narratives arise about atrocity and aggression, whether it be the Holodomor, the mass rapes of German women, Suvorov’s thesis re: a planned Soviet Invasion of Europe, the testimony of executed German Brass at Nuremberg that confirm Soviet aggression, the massive amount of executions perpetrated on POWs in France after the war by communists, the Katyn Massacres of Polish Military…honestly there are probably many more such hotly contested subjects of historical significance. But these are not given any light of day anymore in the west. At one point in time, bevin, these events and Soviet Aggression were confirmed by rigorous scholarship and in western academia, but in the 70s and beyond, these well-known thinkers were blacklisted and memory-holed, only to be replaced with the sickening one-sided narrative of: Allies good, Soviets good, Mustache-man Bad.
For more info on the subject, please see this essay about Suvorov at Unz and Ron Unz’s own research on the subject re: the change in academic rigor during the 70s to the now one-sided affair of Nazi-fixation.
Re: your stance on unions and capitalism in Germany, in the light of my recent tussle with my own union and the lack of its defense of me in my employment when it was either get vaccinated or fired, I no longer carry the blanket assumption that unions are good no matter what. It’s a personal anecdote but it has legitimacy, doncha think?
Furthermore, in Weimar Germany, when no jobs were to be had, it truly was a miracle that Hitler and the NSDAP were able to revitalize so quickly its economy, sidestepping western finance, and with no union help. Heh. Go figure.

You should be able to view Russia MoD telegram channel without signing up.
https://t.me/s/mod_russia (you may have hit preview when the link opens)
I don’t bother with them much now. Same old same old.
Ukraine starting to press gang women as cannon fodder so I guess Ukraine is starting to run short of Ukrainians. A methodical destruction of Ukraine military by Russia.

So PCR is encouraging Russia to transition from “Peaceful Coexistence” to “World Revolution”?
I know some Trotskyists became Neocons but I didn’t know it worked the other way round 😉

That is what my problem is here with this whole debate or lack of one. By opening up the question as to what makes a Nazi a Nazi, if you are being intellectually honest, you open yourself up to difficult questions that I admit perhaps can blunt the effect of propaganda during a current war.
    ….
does it serve no purpose to Russians to call them Nazi either, although I am sure there is catharsis in wiping out deluded-Nationalists with swastikas, who are vehemently Russophobic.
    It’s a head-scratcher.

Concerning the first question, fascism is a collection of beliefs and activities. The folks in Ukraine that are presumably the subject of this “conundrum” use Nazi symbolism and references, but operationally and mentally they are arrested at the stage of Freikorps, mercenaries to “strong figures” outside their movement.
Concerning “purposes of the Russians”, the use of swastika and pathological hatred of “Moscals” and “vatniks” is good enough as a litmus test for calling them Nazis. And it is very useful. If you know Russian (or Spanish) It is explained here
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QELap5eM-e0
and if you know Chinese, here
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1L-Jfhq2IQ
Seriously, this resonates with Russians a lot.

I have been trying to figure out what you are saying, NemesisCalling, and apologies for being dumb and OT, but whatever one’s definition, there is a marked difference between the US reaction to Russia’s plight (and I use that word advisedly even though I hope it is not something they will be unable to rectify)and how the US reacted when Russia needed help at the beginning of WW2 before the US had entered that war. I’m speaking of lend lease, and an earlier conversation was casting doubt on US intentions therein — I can’t remember who said what so I am not about casting aspersions here, but a link I have posted on the open thread that I found at a Saker site delineates how much went into that program, and if it is correct US assistance was then considerable. My copy of that article is at somewhere in the 50’s over there. It’s late and I haven’t finished reading the names of comments here — so many I don’t recognize that are spurious so I’m skipping, sorry – just latching onto any I recognize.
There’s plenty of room over there, so maybe you can see what you think of that article. Same goes for any other thinking person here. I suppose it’s not really off topic to Ukraine as Russia seems inevitably linked to its neighbor. I’m beginning to think that the threads marked “Ukraine” are useful in drawing flies, the kind one really wishes one had a swatter for. Still, it’s nothing to what the Donbass has been enduring for eight years, so I’ll forge on.

Janel.. righly says.. ”Finns, like Estonians and Hungarians, are not Indo-European nations, ” going back a little further.. hardly any today are from early man found ‘ evolving/developing’ here, when Lyrians, from near Star Vega 1st visited 22 million years ago. We nealy all come from the far reaches of this Dern Universe.
Heck we’ve had great civilizations since. 2 million years ago an et race fully inhabited N America, tell they nooked themselves. (Evidence in Death Valley, Utah). Then Atlantis, in the Atlantic, and Mu, in the Gobi, till they also zapped each other, in 9,498BC. Atlantis was founded in 30,000BC by Atlant from the Barnard Star, and Mu was founded by his wife’s brother.
Data from et in theyfly.com, Swiss Meier’s over 700 recorded face to face chats, with mainly Plejaran human ets, from Planet Erra, near Star Taygeta, in the Taurus Const. (They get here, in their newer ships, in a millionth of a second over 500 light years distance It took 7 boring hours, they always complained, in their pre-1975 ships)! These advanced ets are on a now completed 1000s years mission to help us along. They claim common ancestry with many here.. they and many of us are from descended from ancient Lyrians. They still keep an eye on the Ukr. war and comment.. latest contact numbers under Billy’s Contacts.
Nah, I’m not a nutter off the meds, but a long Rtd. Airline Check Capt., East African Airways and Cathay Pacific, with multiple UFO/IFO sightings, and studying the 20,000 pages of et data since 1985.
Also well written up by US psychologist Randolph Winters in his ‘The Pleiadian Mission’, after spending months with Meier.

From what I have seen, the US drift from Russia to UK occurred over a number of decades. In Cecil Rhodes time, a movement if that’s what it can be called, began, to pull US back into the anglo fold. The Bolshevik takeover of Russia/Soviet Union helped that along and then the final seal was UK detonating a hydrogen bomb with which they where able to enter into a nuclear weapons allegiance with US.
For UK, achieving a hydrogen bomb was critical in cementing the allegiance.
There is a doco on UK creating the elements that pushed its reactor past its limits on youtube.
    Look up ‘windscale’.

As for discussion about the “legal” and “illegal” intelligence workers, I must add my 5 cents. In russian in use of the negative particle “не” there is the difference between the “opposite to” and “not having it”, common to many other lanquages. So I would translate “нелегал” as “non-legal”. A non-legal goes to great pains not to break any laws exactly because he does not have any diplomatic immunity, as opposed to some legal agent, his only crime is that he does not announce his allegience to some other country. Like, he might be a sleeper and never provide any service to the other country, he might be a native citizen of the place he is residing, he breaks no lawd and still he is a non-legal agent.

how the US reacted when Russia needed help at the beginning of WW2 before the US had entered that war.
    a) Russia did not exist as a treaty partner until 1991 – it was USSR. Only after 1991 was “Russian Federation” recognised as successor state de jure to USSR.
    b) “Lend Lease” was legislated March 1941 – Canada already had “Mutual Aid” with Britain.
    c) “Reverse Lend Lease” is rarely mentioned by Americans
    d) Republicans believed Lend Lease was “”the longest single step this nation has yet taken toward direct involvement in the war abroad”
    e) “Anglo-American Mutual Aid Agreement” 1942 was a key actor for UK-US
    f) Britain repaid Lend-Lease outstanding debts on December 29, 2006

The trolls need to go back to the hole in the ground from where they came from.

Too late, the holes are occupied by Russians having a very robust celebration.
Lesson for trolls, welcome to the bar but, like the Hotel California, you may not return and the barflies will getya!

I appreciate your input as always. I just finished an article which covers everything you wrote in #178 with numbers and more detail. The article also covers the history of the Ukraine area as it relates to current conflicts and factions that they are dealing with today–including the Nazi thing.

There is a major tax fraud scandal attached to Scholz as well but the full details are not yet known and nothing that links him directly to it has been found so far.

That be the Cum-ex scandal. I understood that Scholz held the decision making position in the regulator/overseer prosecutorial body and sat on his hands in spite of being urged to prosecute and put a stop to the rort.
Billions of euros were filched from the people’s tax revenue by the perpetrators who included lads like Chase Manhatten and other worthy banksters. That is a rough and ready outline of the grub and what the compromat comprises. Feel free to correct me.
