Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Please Support Moon of Alabama

Dear Reader,

twice a year I ask for your help to keep Moon of Alabama going. This is the last call for this biannual drive.

Here are some reasons why you should consider it.

Roderic Day @RodericDay - 16:41 UTC · Jan 9, 2022
Retweeting @MoonofA

I don't know exactly what @MoonofA's political orientation is, but their articles are always full of verifiable sources for claims, and you can form your own opinion based on what they report.

They also self-criticize well.

We all need to write more in this style. link to MoA

He is very good, indeed! And he accepts diverse views!

Also strange is that most of the comments are worth reading. I disagree with and object to some of them but almost none of them are outright crazy.

Yeah, I love reading at the discourse in some articles and I don't necessarily have to agree with everything. Wish we have this kind of healthy environment on here as well.

I of course love such feedback. But I also need to eat and pay rent.

This site is a full time effort and I have no other income I could rely on. While I live in somewhat better circumstances than Spitzweg's Poor Poet, I am neither rich nor do I indulge myself in luxuries.

bigger

Every donation to this Poor Poet - be it $5, $50, $500 or more - is welcome and needed. A recurring contribution or sponsorship would be great.

Transaction costs are the smallest when you send cash or make a bank-wire transfer. Send email to MoonofA @ aol.com (remove the blanks) for the necessary details. (They are the same as before.) You can use other means when you donate through the PayPal button below even without having a PayPal account. (The Moon of Alabama account is in Euro with currently €1 ~ US $1.00 and US $1 ~ €1.00).

Thank you very much!

Bernhard aka b.

What would my life be like without the information and community I have received and attempt to contribute to at MoA? A lot poorer in many ways.

I have spent all my house remodel money now and am on fixed income without being able to rent rooms yet, so contributing to you as much as in the past will go away until I get stable rental income, sorry....and I have right shoulder replacement surgery in my near future it seems from my 2+ years of house remodel at 73+ now....sigh

I really do appreciate your efforts Bernhard and hope this support call out brings you enough moola to make you feel good about continuing your contribution to our world.

Paypal processing the credit cards is a problem. + phone(mobile only) and email is now required. I was happy they cancelled my paypal a/c because I refused to "enhance my security" with the info above.

Posted by: Dim sim | Jul 13 2022 6:30 utc | 2

No worries, your's is the main website I go to. Credit also go to Karlof, Bevin, Roger and Uncle Tungsten. Then there are the others, too many to list.
I contribute monthly, but tomorrow I'll send a one-off one as well. I don't know where I would be without this website.

Posted by: Peter Schmidt | Jul 13 2022 6:32 utc | 3

Dim sim, I was asked as well about 'enhancing' security, but in Australia it's not mandatory yet, Psychohistorian, get well. It's not easy in the US if you get sick. I came to Australia in December 1986, from Hungary. Australia was a good place then, but as soon as the 'iron curtain' lifted in 89, the west gradually keeps getting worse. Censorship is a lot worse than it was under 'communism, living standards dropped. Now we are thinking to sell up here, and move back to Europe, to Hungary. We have no relatives here, my son is 25 and I think he would be better in Europe. He could work anywhere.
Like migratory birds, I was OK here for close to 40 years, now as times changed, we move back.

Modest donation sent...this blog has been invaluable in these mad pre-WWIII times.

Paypal is a problem - it's bounced my card payment twice for unspecified reasons. It also demands a mobile number with no option to send verification either by email or to a landline. Bank Xfr from UK to EU (or anywhere else) has a large admin fee, as does cheque handling. Would an Amazon gift card be any good? Any other suggestions? Thanks for all your time and effort in assembling a rational and critical view of world events. If only there were a few more of you!

I greatly appreciate your website Bernhard and I look forward each day reading the many erudite comments on matters the MSM avoid. Please accept my small donation.

Funny you link a post from Roderick Day who is someone who will block anyone who does disagree with him on Twitter wrt the necessity of understanding the function of organisations like the CIA. He's a self-absorbed little twat if you ask me. His writing is valuable nonetheless.

Have donated previously. On this occasion, after entering my card details, address, etc (I was wishing to avoid using PayPal) I was returned to Paypal with a message saying to try again. I did this three times to no avail. So don’t know what the glitch is.

Thank you for being a voice of sanity in the wilderness. Please do get a free self custody Bitcoin wallet so you can accept Bitcoin donations. Fyi - both the Russian Central Bank (SPIEF 2022) and Bank for International Settlements (July 6) now accept Bitcoin.
Simply download a free Bitcoin wallet (e.g. we use Muun.com) and publish your public key .. that's it. Of course, carefully safeguard your passwords, as one normally does. Thanks

Dear Bernhard,

I am pleased to make a contribution in support of your continued tending of this marvellous 'bar'.

I discovered MoA in March of this year. You and your esteemed barflies have inspired me to play some small part in injecting unconventional perspectives into the conversations occurring within civil society in the two nations of which I am a citizen, Slovenia and Australia.

Yesterday I succeeded in having a letter published in one of Slovenia's major mainstream daily newspapers, 'Dnevnik' (Diary). I link it below as evidence of what has, in large measure, been the product of the gifts of insight given to me by you and denizens of MoA.

I prefer to support MoA using Subscribestar.
I suggest MoA also add Subscribe star for donations.
Many good sites/alterna media ar using Subscribe star.
Like Bitchute, the Duran, the Saker etc.
Using Subscribestar one can donate smaller amounts evrey month.

I feel your pain. We went through several ridiculous bidding wars in Austin before saying screw it and moving to Houston. Housing market is cooling off due to rising interest rates, but not reducing prices enough to matter. Mortgage payments on a home purchased now rather than a year ago are significantly higher as you reach into the 350K region and above.

Thanks too to the many thinking and erudite barflies, whether I agree with your thought provoking comments or not. Knowledge is no burden.

Posted by: Paul | Jul 14 2022 8:08 utc | 55

Have not tried to post here in eons, but here goes... Perhaps a problem americans (and elsewhere outside of europe?) are having is their credit cards connected to paypal lack 3D Secure, which is a security in europe for c.c. payments, but any american card i've ever owned doesn't recognize 3D Secure. Should your transaction be declined call your c.c. co. and let them know you want the transaction to go thru, if your account is in good standing the block should be lifted instantaneously, but you'll have to try the transaction over again. No need to reach paypal, because it's not their problem.

Tbh, just happened upon your site recently via meaninginhistory who seems to be a big fan of yours.

It's interesting to get a different point of view but many posts seem to be anti Ukrainian and pro Russian. Although I do find it interesting to read maybe more balance is needed, look at Canada, as I'd be afraid of being put a US blacklist.

Have you thought of putting advertising on your site? What about accepting crypto?

Thanks for maintaining this valuable site. I heard about it first via The Duran a couple of months ago. As a German ex-pat living in the US I have been appalled and disturbed by Germany's drift to the right, it's de-facto state-run disinformation main-stream-media and its spineless submission to the Evil Empire's dictates. Glad to be able to offer modest support on a monthly basis. Please keep up the great work, b.

Hey b. I feel a bit cheap paying only 15 euros a year (because what you provide is a service for which I should be paying a whole lot more). Back in the day I paid $20/month to have the Sydney Morning Herald delivered, eventually only for the cryptic crossword because the paper shifted from a good centrist alternative to Murdoch rags to the right. It is now just a real estate advertisement masquerading as a newspaper. If you went behind a subscription paywall I'd pay even though I've got a new mortgage which is screwing me because rates are climbing. Anyway...

You on the other hand are an international treasure. Never stop doing what you do. Once people discover you they're hooked. Recently a colleague of mine at another university who is a full Professor of Political Theory asked me what my go-to sources were for the Ukraine War outside of MSM full spectrum propaganda. I said, easy: wake up, make coffee, read MoA, listen to Alex Mercouris (at x2 speed because he drones on and on) and Military Summary Channel. Then maybe Twitter or RWAPodcast. Only then do I dip into the MSM for the sheer contrast. And then week-in-review on Monday is the cherry on top. Last time I ran into her she said, 'wow, MoA is brilliant, nothing else like it of its kind".

Hell, even my 82 year old mother reads you every morning: she calls me: "Bernhard's good today!"

So a measly 15 euro is all I can afford at the moment but if I won Powerball I'd send 15,000 in a heartbeat.

Moon of Alabama has been my lifeline since the SMO. I followed via Craig Murray re Assange but b’s reporting and the majority of comments have kept me sane during this period of Western media propaganda onslaught. I’d go crazy without this blog and others such as the Saker. I asked my husband to contribute to your blog and since he’s obviously concerned for my wellbeing as well as being himself a MoA follower he’s been more than happy to contribute.

Bernhard got his money, so far as I am aware twice. I think he is extremely talented, even though he did piss me off, about that unmentionable subject cxxxd His coverage of what is going on now, is the best in the world, and his blog is enriched by some brilliant comments.

In the USA, I am totally convinced, that my $10 donation using Paypal got through to feedingamerica.

About the same time, some years ago, I tried to send $10 to Tom Feeley (Information Clearing House) who recently has been unwell (I think he may have got better - anyhow his blog is still going.)

The result of my attempt to send $10 to Tom Feeley, is that my UK Bank account got frozen. I phoned my Bank up, and said Why Have you stopped this payment? From memory, I got the distinct impression, that the payment had not been blocked by my UK Bank, but from Tom Feeley's American Bank (its entirely possible they don't like him) My UK Bank unblocked my account - impression from them - do not try and send any money to the USA again.

In the UK, I also succeeded in sending £10 to Off-Guardian at least twice

Then we come to the important things in life. This German student, phoned me up from Brighton Beach. She had found my wifes phone. My wife had travelled to Brighton on her own. The german girl spoke perfect English. I tried to describe my wife. I asked did you see any clothes (my wife likes swimming naked). She said no. So this girl, disrupted her holiday in England, to package and send my wife's phone back to her First Class.

My wife got back home, later that night, in a bit of a state. "I've lost my mobile phone"

The next day, she went to the bank, and said, I want to send this Student in Germany 60 Euros

The bank to my amazement were honest. "You don't want to do that, cos we will take most of it in commission."

So she bought a nice smiley thank you card, and put 60 Euros in cash in it.

I said send it second class, and she will get it when she gets back home to Germany as she did.

I like people like that.

Hello, I sent you a small donation from Germoney via Paypal to test first if it works. This only required a security code as SMS from Paypal. Thank you very much, gladly again.

Many thanks Bernard for your hard work. I find it's very easy to recommend your since your predictions hold true over both short and long time spans, very unlike main stream media.

I avoiding Paypal as I dont trust them and also I dislike their charges on all donations(greedy).
I wrote some days ago that B should use Subscribestar instead,
like Duran, Bitchute and Saker to name a few.
By using Subscribe star I can donate smaller amounts every month, very convenient for both donator and receiver.

I used a credit card on Paypal this time because I lost b's address from last time and I think it worked. I was wondering how much to send and decided to send the equivalent of what I've been spending on the primary media Moon of Alabama has replaced, that being the New York Times on line. They are charging me $28/month after they sneakily started charging extra for the crossword puzzle.
