I was aboard one of the first SAR vls to arrive on scene. Our skipper could not understand how the Vanlene got that far into Barkley Sound. The Vanlene skipper may have been drunk, and the fog so thick nothing was visible, but he navigated that deep sea like it was a go kart, twisting it around one rocky islet after another. We had trouble following his track in the cutter. An incredible act of drunken seamanship. But Barkley Sound won out in the end. And everyone for miles around made out like bandits. Unfortunately I was gummint and back then we actually acted like ethical public servants. Within two weeks the Vanlene was stripped down so only the rust was left.

Okay, I have to ask the question: how does raising interest rates cause inflation to go down? If people can not buy things they need, The prices will go up as companies will try to maintain their profit margins, to stay afloat. Then, as people can not buy anything due to high prices and companies go under, this sets the stage for monopolies to emerge from the wreckage of the crash. The only people who win, are those in the federal reserve: the rest of America, what is left of it, will suffer. I have this echo in my head: let the peasants eat cake.

Bonus: the Fed established it’s own interest rate for the US with its establishment of SOFR (Secured Overnight Financing Rate) as opposed to the EU controlled LIBOR, and now the Fed can vacuum up the 70% of $US liquidity in Europe (eurodollars) using higher interest rates while the EU flounders with its unfinanceable debt. Recession ?! We don’t care about no stinkin’ recession !!

fascinating story sushi! i didn’t know about that, but i was a young kid living in vancouver at the time.. barkley sound is fairly wide at the entrance, but narrows and goes into the port alberni inlet further in.. it is an incredible fishing spot.. i was up their friday night in port alberni seeing a friend play music at the rainbow room… i imagine anything gotten from that ship would have rusted out fairly quickly.. thanks for sharing that and bringing me up to speed!

But the past your friend is referring to and it is after WW2 history I am now referring to. The west gave them a piece of Palestinian land and since then they have systematically massacred and run Palestinians off their lands, who are now confined to a outdoor jail.
Sharon opened a Palestinian refuge camp in Lebanon, allowing the Christian phalangelists to murder thousands. That is just one of countless racist atrocities that is the face of Israel.

An invasion of Iran could not be carried out without a lengthy buildup period.
It’s a red line for ww3.
Both China and Russia have a mutual defense agreement with Iran due to the considerable economic arrangements they have through the BRI.
Essentially the US in declaring war on Iran would be seen as declaring war on China and by extension Russia.
A lengthy build up would signal US intentions obviously.
Americans should probably worry more why they are NOT getting the real story regarding their biolabs, their terrorist proxies, illegal sanctions (or ‘blockades’ which is a declaration of war under international law as noted by China),self declared dictatorship of Earth or even the foreign policy positions of either Russia or China.
The US govt is thinking it’s STILL ’41 where every American was simply kept in the dark so that US administration can claim that Japan ‘sneaked’ attacked when the US had declared war on Japan with the naval blockade 2 weeks earlier.
Hardly a day of infamy as it starts US Pacific campaign which lasted from ’41 to ’75.
Both Russian and Chinese plans include ‘shock and awe’ of American homeland infrastructure and satellite communications with advanced but conventional weapons in order to immediately break the chain of military command rendering US ‘military’ outside of the US without coherent leadership, direction or even purpose as the 800+ bases and ‘tripwires’ will see uprisings among people who are not too interested in being human shields sacrificed for some place that used to be called United States.
The US thinks the world belongs to it.
Well shooting at the world is a lot harder than simply shooting at the US.
