Moon of Alabama Brecht quote
June 3, 2022
How Russia, And Putin, Are Weaponizing, Losing And Running Out Of … Everything

Moon of Alabama earlier explored how Russia was weaponizing everything. This after Donald Trump had done so many good things for Russia. Then Putin lost everything he ever might have had.

It has been getting worse since.

Now Russia, and Putin himself, are 'running out' of whatever may have been left.

“Being a Marxist is tough these days as you have to start off arguing really basic stuff, such as the material world being real.”
Your examples in the political sphere were pretty good. But I think there is more to the non-materialist view than you give credit. I suggest the very readable book by an ex-CERN scientist:
“Why Materialism Is Baloney How True Skeptics Know There Is No Death and Fathom Answers to life, the Universe, and Everything” by Bernardo Kastrup.
He goes over material that has been hashed out for millenia in Asia although doesn’t make it over well in translation. There really IS a serious case for challenging materialism especially given that in making that case the main premises of materialism end up getting shredded. It is interesting – indeed fascinating for some – and well worth going through once even if only to challenge unrecognized assumptions about the nature of reality / experience. Again, this is a highly experienced Western scientist / physicist making the non-materialist case.
It’s on a whole other level than the political stuff you referenced and which again you did a good job critiquing.

“As Peter has already noted, Donetsk has been substantially evacuated in any case. Obviously this is not an ideal situation but other areas are being prioritised. I imagine that the Russians are particularly interested in bagging those bastards, most of which have been shelling civilians for years now. Doubtless they will be taking them from the flanks and the rear in a few weeks time and a large proportion of them will be facing war-crimes trials.”
That makes sense, although I seem to remember reading several times of late how people in schools, churches or market places were bombed in Donetsk, so I have the impression that many have remained. I saw a good map showing all the troop dispositions and recall that around Donetsk was a very dense array of blue circles. But still am surprised they didn’t do more to discourage ongoing shelling. Your point about wanting to capture them though is a good one and no doubt correct.

You have been posting here long enough to know that there is an edit function — the Preview block down at the bottom on the righthand side. We often hastily proof read and don’t correct when we should before posting, but that is our fault, not the system’s. And timing is also not a problem, as we can save what we write, then refresh the page, then post it again.
This site format serves us well – with flexibility as far as how we wish to read what others have written, and as well how we want to express ourselves. And b is a very fair monitor, fairer than most who have invested time and funds in projects such as this. We should help as much as possible, but the site has functioned well for as long as I have been here, and I hope that will continue.

Perhaps but there is no indication of that at the moment. My thoughts are that Russia has set up a killing field where a generation of Ukrainians – the 18 to 30 year old – that have spent their formative years as teenagers and young men under US brain washing go to die.

Posted by: Peter AU1 | Jun 3 2022 22:45 utc | 209

Maybe, it is better to remind oneself, what happened since November-December 2021, and the read letters sent by Russia to the US, and the demand of Russia to NATO, but sent to the US. And, also read what Putin had said then, and in the following months. Also what Lavrov had said too.
Then, find and read what Putin had said in between February 10th to 24th morning, and after that. If you can listen to him in Russian the better. He spoke about denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine and the liberation of DPR and LNR on 24th morning, and not before that time. He didn’t say anything about taking over the Ukraine, or changing the regime, or gave a timetable for those activities.
On the 24th Ukraine got hit and rest is history. The West panicked, and took bad decisions. Neither Putin, nor Lavrov or anyone else either confirmed or disagreed to anything the West was saying, or western MSM was ‘reporting.’ Russia let them keep on guessing, never giving a chance to get the right picture. The collective West had not yet guessed. The panic is still there, and that’s why the push to get Finland and Sweden into NATO.
Russia hasn’t opened the cards yet. The only thing the West can guess is that there is no timeline, and they are not quite sure of even that. The “collective” West is not sure about anything now, for sure! They are adding packages of sanctions, not knowing what to do next.
Russia can keep on the slow grind. This saves the very valuable lives of the Russian and Allied soldiers. Don’t forget that Russia is the only self sufficient country in the world. And, it has things that the world needs, not the other way.
All those foreign ships in Kherson, Nikolayev or Odessa can’t sail out because of the runaway Ukrainian mines, and because Ukraine cannot promise not to shoot at them.
The fertilizer problem is there for the world, so there’d be less food in autumn. There’d be a massive heating problem starting around October in northern and central Europe, mostly in the unfriendly countries. Fuel is already a problem in the EU, except maybe in Hungary. The fourth quarter of 2022 is going to be pretty hard for the EU/NATO. Already the citizens are getting angry. They are going to get angrier and poorer.
Russia is not getting late with the SMO. There’s no time limit for her, but the EU/NATO is getting jittery. Russia can make it even slower, and even stop for a while, and start again, whenever it want. US/NATO satellites can be blown out of the space, if/when needed. Well, there’s absolutely no hurry for Russia. Russia is making the collective West guess, and open their cards in their panic.

Today’s Crosstalk has Escobar, Luongo and another talking about the coming escalation, which is something I omitted from my essay. If the Ukies use the Himar system to attack Russia, Russia has said it will attack the “decision centers.” So, the nuke demo might not be nuke but a salvo of hypersonics smashing the Pentagon to pieces or the MI-6 edifice in London. IMO, it’s worth the 25 minutes to watch. Hudson was on a few days earlier, and it’s educational to see how little the others on that program know about what they’re supposed to know.

Commie rule is a thing of a past, the Gulag system is also long gone (those born in the 1950s can hardly remember), and to be honest, the Pravda article in question is written by someone whose author page thematically resembles those of Anne Applebaum or Michael Stürmer, just phase-flipped / 180-degree-around.
Still, Pravda’s Alexander Artamanov seems more based in the real world and has much deeper comprehension and expertise than his peer pundits from the West…

ABC Oz, has been guilty of telling big and little lies regarding war reporting and international news . Just like the the BBC had been doing since 1st January, 1927……..
Even to the extent of spreading myths generated by the USSAF during the Korean War. Total air superiority in Korea was non existent during daylight hours.
The ABC hit the jackpot biggest of all lies told in 2017. The country in question is Venezuela.
The so called fact check section is a mere sop. To hide the inconvenient truth. Nothing more , nothing less.
To hide the reality. Like all good government departments must do at the end of the day. The relative minister in charge says do as told…………

Scorpion, I’ve enjoyed your reflective posts, and I would answer your question positively, but we outside of Russia don’t really know. It is up to them. I personally don’t feel the answer lies with monarchy. The monarchy in Russia might be viewed romantically by some but it really had many flaws. I would hope that Putin’s example will have a more lasting impact than FDR in the US had. It wasn’t the latter’s fault. There were cataclysmic events back then. And may be to come now. That change of fortune, I would hope, is being prepared for assiduously by the Russians who support Putin, because in a democracy, which Russia is at present, it is easy for sovereignty of the people to be lost as we in the US have lost it.
Sovereignty of the people is far, far better than sovereignty of a monarch. Russia has been there, done that. Suffered, and learned. Hopefully our bad example of what can happen to a functioning democracy has been a good teacher, the way in literature Mephistopheles and his ilk eternally are. And hopefully we, too, are learning.
Maybe it’s good we don’t know what is to come. God bless him, though; he’s one of that rare breed; a man for all seasons.

According to the Daily Mail, Olena Zelenskaya, Volvodimyr’s wife, revealed that her son, little Kirilo Zelenskii discusses the war with his father and tells him what equipment to ask and how to run the war as he is an expert in all things military.
So, a nine years old genius is the one advising the President of Ukraine on how to handle the war.
Well, after, all the grunts undergoing hell are untermenschen of Russian ethnicity that need to be eradicated for the successful establishment of the new Jewish Khazaria in their stead. It is so clever to have them killed by their own brethren!
That Mrs Zelensky is not afraid to let it loose to the thousands of parents of the deceased and maimed is confirmation of the Zelensky’s disdain for anything goyim. Her 9 years old son is the chessmaster directing the war against Russia!!!!!
And yet, Volodymir is touted as such a great President!
Another confirmation that the MSM is Jewish owned and operated aiming at the consecution of Jewish interests.

I’m very late in my usual perusals, but that’s better than never. I’ll start with this: “Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to questions following a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Riyadh, June 1, 2022”, with the transcript in English. I see a need to provide a rather large portion of Lavrov’s words since they demand to be heard:

We held a big event today – the fifth round of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the members of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. This meeting was timely since we have not met for several years due to coronavirus restrictions. Today, we had a practical conversation that helped us better understand the serious and momentous processes that are now taking place in the world arena. We discussed them in public during our visit to Bahrain on May 31, Algeria on May 10 and Oman on May 11 of this year.
The main conclusion from the assessment of the geopolitical situation is that one group of countries must not be allowed to establish domination in the world. Unfortunately, our Western partners have made this an absolute priority. They are openly announcing the need for a unipolar world order that they call “a rules-based order.” But it is the West that is drafting these rules (and they do not hide this). In their opinion, others do not have this right.
As for this “pole” that, according to the West, should be united in the world, it is unequivocally led by the United States. Any dissent is basically absent, and individual appeals for any “strategic autonomy” in Europe are drowning in the harmonious chorus of those who demand Western unity under US leadership.
We do not mind the West arranging its own affairs in the institutions it created, including NATO and the EU. However, we are against the West violating its global commitments, including those made in the OSCE, in the process of developing these institutions. They read that not a single side can strengthen its security at the expense of the security of others and not a single organisation can claim dominance in the Euro-Atlantic region. It is easy to understand that this is exactly what NATO is doing. The West must not draft its projects and implement its ideas in practice in violation of universal rules, primarily the UN Charter that reads that respect for the sovereign equality of states is the fundamental principle of the United Nations. Our partners in the Gulf Cooperation Council understand perfectly well the implications of the international situation relative to the events staged by the West around Ukraine.
We appreciate their well-balanced position on this issue at both international forums and in practice. They are refusing to join the West’s illegal unilateral sanctions against the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
We reaffirmed our commitment to the UN Charter, including the use of its provisions as regards the crisis in Ukraine and around it. Our partners in the Arab world and the Gulf Cooperation Council agree with us that the violation of a key provision of the UN Charter triggered the situation in Ukraine. We are referring to the Charter’s provision that requires all UN members states to comply with UN Security Council resolutions.
In February 2015, Resolution 2202 unanimously endorsed the Minsk agreements that required the Kiev regime to start a direct dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk, implement the agreed-upon provisions to grant special status to these regions in eastern Ukraine and to reflect this in the Constitution of Ukraine. Kiev was supposed to hold, on agreement with Donetsk and Lugansk, elections, amnesty, disengagement of the sides, a ceasefire and the withdrawal of heavy weapons. Kiev was not fulfilling any of these commitments. President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky publicly referred to the people living in eastern Ukraine as a “species.” In September 2021, President Zelensky said that if anyone in Ukraine felt bad that the Russian language, culture and the media were banned, and if anyone in Ukraine felt they were really Russian, they should just leave for the Russian Federation. He added that this would be better for the children of these Russians that were Ukrainian citizens.
A similar ideology was announced in Europe’s history, and we know how that ended. The refusal of the Kiev regime to abide by the UN Security Council resolution, which approved the Minsk agreements, for eight years was the decisive factor behind the current situation. Maybe some people doubted that the West was patronising Ukraine to contain and threaten Russia, but now the majority of unbiased observers have no doubt about this.
Today, we unanimously confirmed our commitment to the UN Charter and the need to implement all of its requirements in full. In this context, we discussed regional issues, including the settlement in Syria. We emphasised the need to carry out UN Security Council Resolution 2254, including the settlement of humanitarian problems and the restoration of the economic infrastructure that is essential for the return of the refugees. We also reviewed the work of the Constitutional Committee that convened its regular session in Geneva (according to first assessments, it had a positive start) and Syria’s position in the Arab world. We confirmed our resolve for the need to have the Syrian Arab Republic rejoin the Arab League. We see that our partners in the Gulf show understanding for this necessity. [My Emphasis]

Perhaps now my emphasis on the UN and its role in my recent essay can be more easily understood. It provides THE BASIS for Russian and Chinese diplomacy and their international relations. That the Gulf Cooperation Council agrees is very major. But they aren’t the only ones as most of the world concurs. To end Western Barbarity, compliance with the UN Charter is a sine qua non.
One other very important development Lavrov revealed prior to the Q&A:
“We discussed the Persian Gulf and relations between the Arab monarchies and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Russia has long been promoting the Collective Security Concept in this most important region of the world. There are discussions around this concept. Last autumn, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences hosted panels of experts and political scientists from all coastal Gulf countries and a number of neighbouring states, including Arabs and the Iranians. It was a useful discussion with interesting recommendations which we are now summarising. We want to hold another political science expert event soon to help create proper conditions for taking the dialogue to the country-to-country level.”
Now, that’s outstanding and would be a supreme coup for Russian diplomacy, but moreover for all the people in the Gulf region. As I continue to write, 7/8ths of the world wants Peace and genuine development, not war and debt peonage, and here’s proof of that desire.
The Q&As reveal nothing that I consider new or remarkable. The major import of Lavrov’s words are all above.

I had the good fortune of having a best friend, at about 20, and our conversations were never pissing contests. We would just put all our thoughts onto the “table” and look at it, together. Mind you, we were also reading Krishnamurti at the time, shared with us by one of his friends, ironically, a Ukrainian descendant, coincidentally. Be that as it may.
Anyhow, for me it’s an essential notion that the proverb “two heads are better than one” are basically Dialectics, and all it is is we’re friends kicking ideas around, and that is the essence of it.
So your PhD friend, in your story, the end was ambiguous. But it sounded like you did the Dialectics thing, at least enough to make him go HMMM…

Today, Putin was interviewed by Rossiya 1 TV channel journalist Pavel Zarubin. Putin destroys the propaganda about Ukraine being unable to export its foodstuffs, which is what the interview centers on. Here’s the complete machine translation:

Pavel Zarubin: Mr President, we have just watched your meeting with the head of Senegal, who is also the leader of the African Union. He spoke about this, and in general, it is felt, of course, over the past week, that many countries are extremely concerned not so much about the food crisis – they are afraid of large-scale famine, because world food prices are growing rapidly, oil and gas prices are rising rapidly.
The West, of course, also accuses us of this. In reality, what is the situation at this point, how is it developing? And what, in your opinion, will happen next to the food and energy markets?
Vladimir Putin: Yes, of course, we are now seeing attempts to shift responsibility for what is happening on the global food market and the emerging problems in this market to Russia. I must say that this is an attempt, as people say in our country, to shift these problems from a sick head to a healthy one. Why?
Because, firstly, the unfavorable situation on the world food market began to develop not yesterday or even since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in the Donbas and Ukraine. It began to take shape in February 2020 in the process of combating the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, when the world economy, the world economy sat down, and it was necessary to restore the world economy.
The financial and economic authorities have found nothing better in the United States than to follow the path of injecting large sums of money in support of the population, in support of individual enterprises and sectors of the economy.
In general, we did about the same thing, but I dare to assure you, and the result is obvious: we did it much more carefully, we did it point-by-point, achieved the desired result without all these actions affecting macroeconomic indicators, including the immeasurable growth of inflation.
The situation was quite different in the United States. For two years, incomplete two years, from February 2020 to the end of 2021, the money supply in the United States grew by 5.9 trillion. This is unprecedented work of the printing press. The total money supply grew by 38.6 percent.
Apparently, the financial authorities of the United States proceeded from the fact that the dollar is the world currency, and it, as usual, as in previous times, will dissolve throughout the world economy, and in the States it will be imperceptible. It turned out that this was not the case. As a matter of fact, decent people, and there are such people in the United States, the Minister of Finance recently said that they made a mistake. So this is a mistake by the financial and economic authorities of the United States, it has nothing to do with Russia’s actions in Ukraine, in no way.
And this was the first step, a very serious step towards the development of an unfavorable situation in the food market, because first of all, food prices went up, went uphill. That’s the first thing.
The second reason is the short-sighted policy of European countries, and above all the European Commission, in the energy sector. We see what’s going on there. I personally believe that many political forces in the United States and Europe have begun to speculate on the natural concern of the world’s inhabitants for the state of the climate, for climate change, and have begun to promote this “green agenda”, including in the energy sector.
Everything seems to be fine, but it is not good only when unqualified, groundless recommendations are made on what needs to be done in the energy sector, the possibilities of alternative types of energy are overestimated: solar, wind, I don’t know, any other, hydrogen – this is a prospect, probably, but today this is not in the proper volume, proper quality and at the right prices. And at the same time, they began to belittle the importance of traditional types of energy, including, and above all, hydrocarbons.
What did that lead to? Banks have stopped lending because they are under pressure. Insurance companies have ceased to insure the relevant transactions. Local authorities stopped issuing plots of land to expand production, reduced the construction of specialized transport, including pipeline.
All this has led to underinvestment in the global energy sector, and as a result – higher prices. Please, last year there was not enough wind load, the wind is not what was expected, the winter dragged on – and immediately the prices flew up.
Among other things, the Europeans did not listen to our urgent requests to preserve long-term contracts for the supply of the same natural gas to European countries, and they also began to cover them up. Many are still working, but they have begun to cover up. But this had a negative impact on the European energy market: prices crept up. Russia has absolutely nothing to do with it.
But as soon as gas prices, say, went up, the price of fertilizers immediately increased, because some of these fertilizers are produced, among other things, at the expense of gas. Everything is interconnected. As soon as fertilizer prices began to creep up, many enterprises, including in European countries, became unprofitable, began to close altogether – and the volume of fertilizers on the world market fell sharply, and prices, respectively, rose, and prices rose dramatically, one might say, completely unexpectedly for many European politicians.
But we warned about this, and this has nothing to do with any military operation of Russia in the Donbass, has nothing to do with it at all.
But the next step, when our operation began, the european, American partners so-called began to take steps that exacerbated the situation in this sector: in both the food and fertilizer sectors.
By the way, Russia occupies 25 percent of the world market for fertilizers, and for example, for potash fertilizers, as Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko told me – we need to check, of course, but I think this is true – for potash fertilizers Russia and Belarus – 45 percent of the world market. That’s a huge amount.
And the yield depends on the amount of fertilizers invested in the soil. As soon as it became clear that there would be no fertilizers on the world market, prices immediately crept up for both fertilizers and food, because if there are no fertilizers, there is no necessary volume of agricultural products.
One clings to the other, and Russia has absolutely nothing to do with it. Our partners themselves have made a lot of mistakes, and now they are looking for someone to blame, and, of course, in this sense, Russia is the most convenient candidate for this.
Pavel Zarubin: By the way, we have just received news that the new European sanctions package includes the wife of the head of one of our largest fertilizer companies.
Where will all this lead, in your opinion?
Vladimir Putin: Here’s the thing: the situation will get worse.
After all, the British, then the Americans – the Anglo-Saxons – imposed sanctions on our fertilizers. Then, realizing what was happening, the Americans lifted the sanctions, but the Europeans did not. They themselves say in contacts with me: yes, yes, we need to think about it, we need to do something about it, and today they have only exacerbated this situation.
This will worsen the situation on the world fertilizer markets, which means that the prospects for the harvest will be much more modest, which means that prices will only go up – that’s all. This is an absolutely short-sighted, erroneous, I would say, just stupid policy that leads to a dead end.
Pavel Zarubin: But Russia has been accused from very high tribunes that there is grain in reality, but it is in Ukrainian ports, and Russia allegedly does not allow this grain to be exported.
Vladimir Putin: This is a bluff. Here’s why.
First, there are some objective things, and I will talk about them now. The world produces about 800 million tons of grain and wheat per year. Now we are told that Ukraine is ready to export 20 million tons. 20 million tons compared to what is produced in the world, 800 million tons, is 2.5 percent. But if we proceed from the fact that in the total volume of food in the world wheat is only 20 percent – and this is true, this is not our data, this is UN data – then this means that these 20 million tons of Ukrainian wheat are 0.5 percent, about nothing. That’s the first thing.
Secondly, 20 million tons of Ukrainian wheat is a potential export. To date, the US authorities say that today Ukraine could export six million tons of wheat – according to our Ministry of Agriculture, this is not six, it is about five million tons, even, let’s say, six – and, this is the data of our Ministry of Agriculture, seven million tons of corn. We understand that this is not much.
In the current agricultural year – 2021–2022 – we will export 37 million, and in 2022–2023, I think that we will raise these exports to 50 million tonnes. But it is, apropo, by the way.
As for the export of Ukrainian grain, we do not prevent this. And there are several ways to export grain.
First. Please can be exported through ports that are under the control of Ukraine, primarily the Black Sea basin – Odessa and nearby ports. It was not we who mined the approaches to the port – it was Ukraine that mined it.
I have already said many times to all our colleagues: let them clear mines, and please let the ships loaded with grain leave the ports. We guarantee their peaceful passage without any problems into international waters. No problem, please.
They should clear mines and raise from the bottom of the Black Sea ships that were deliberately sunk in order to complicate the entrance to these ports in the south of Ukraine. We are ready to do this, we will not use the situation of mine clearance to launch any attacks from the sea, as I have already said. That’s the first thing.
Second. There is another possibility: the ports of the Sea of Azov – Berdyansk, Mariupol – are under our control, we are ready to ensure trouble-free export of Ukrainian grain through these ports. You are welcome.
We have already completed the demining work – Ukrainian troops once mined it in three layers – the work is coming to an end. We will create the necessary logistics. Please, we will. That’s the second thing.
Third. It is possible to export grain from Ukraine through the Danube and through Romania.
Fourth. You can go through Hungary.
Fifth. You can go through Poland. Yes, there are certain technical problems there, because the track is different, it is necessary to change the wagon bogies. But it’s just a few hours, and that’s it.
And, finally, the simplest thing is the export through the territory of Belarus. The easiest and cheapest, because from there directly to the ports of the Baltic States, to the Baltic Sea and further – to anywhere in the world.
But for this it is necessary to lift sanctions from Belarus. But that’s not o
ur question. In any case, President of Belarus Alexander Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] puts the question in this way: if someone wants to solve the problem, if it exists at all – the export of Ukrainian grain, please, the easiest way is through Belarus. No one bothers.
So there is no problem with the export of grain from Ukraine.
Pavel Zarubin: What can be the logistics of exporting from those ports that are under our control? What can be the conditions?
Vladimir Putin: No conditions.
Please ensure peaceful transportation, guarantee the safety of approaches to these ports, ensure the entry of foreign vessels and their movement along the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea in any direction.
By the way, there are a lot of ships stuck in Ukrainian ports today – foreign ones, dozens of ships. They’re just kept locked up there, and, by the way, the crews are still being held hostage.

On today’s Crosstalk I linked @212, EU and Outlaw US Empire officials are called everything but smart and caring of others. Luongo essentially called them idiots with a plan–but whose plan is it really? Certainly not the idiots; they’re incapable and grossly so. IMO, Neoliberal Parasites want babies to pay to be born–not their parents–so they’ll be born into debt peonage and need to work it off in the manner of indentured servants. But they’ll never be able to become free for their nation will become one massive Company Store whereby you’re forever in debt. That’s the Rentier Class’s plan–The Great Reset. Putin’s being beyond charitable saying what was done was merely mistakes, not premeditated actions.

Russia is going for a far larger and long lasting victory than just killing off a few nazi’s in Ukraine.

Agreed. Russia’s clarity of purpose and intention is in the speeches and draft treaty and transnational solidarity development over the past few decades. Russia is not running out of a vision for our common future. Unlike the westies leadership.

You can always count on the BBC to come up with something negative about Russia. Today it’s Russian troops looting in Chernobyl and Putin stopping wheat shipments to Africa.

Posted by: dh | Jun 4 2022 0:24 utc | 236

Putin also met today with Chairperson of the African Union, President of Senegal Mackie Sall. Here’s an excerpt from their public remarks:

President Sall:
As you know, a number of countries voted in favour of the resolutions within the United Nations, and it should be noted that the position of the African continent is very heterogeneous and, despite great pressure, many countries still did not condemn Russia’s position.
You can also look at Asia, the Middle East, Latin America – we see that the world as a whole is very much following the development of the situation. I have really high hopes and have come here today to tell you that countries that are so far from where the conflict develops are still experiencing its consequences.
Sanctions against Russia have further exacerbated this situation, and now we do not have access to grain from Russia, especially wheat from Russia. And, most importantly, we do not have access to fertilizers, because the situation was already difficult, and now it is even more complicated, and this has consequences for food security in Africa.
This morning, I was literally talking to my colleague from the African Union Commission, and I told him that there are two main problems – the crisis and sanctions. We need to work together to resolve these two problems so that food products, in particular grain, and fertilizers are removed from sanctions. [My Emphasis]

As Putin noted in the TV interview, the crisis and sanctions are intertwined. IMO, what the entire Global South must do is to stand as one and declare all sanctions not approved by the UNSC are illegal and thus no Global South nation will abide by them anymore. The Group Defending the UN Charter will also add their voice to the overall hue and cry. What’s the Outlaw US Empire going to do in face of almost total global resistance to its illegalities? The time to push back has arrived.

T Paine@ 230, your point highlights our abrupt imperial decline. Durex was a great project of empire – all that Malaysian rubber had to go somewhere.. In war, all the tires that Adolf could only dream about, in peace, tons of johnnies. Though the glory days of empire are behind us, it is good to know we still produce well designed royal pedos. A British product which still makes the third world tremble.

Well, its a nice thought to see the pentagon get another smash hit but I think I would save that for 9/11 as an anniversary bingo. Meanwhile there are some long slow rail lines between the EU landing and the border of Ukraine/Poland that could invite a shot and well outside of any urban area. AND at minimal human cost.
I assume, like others at the bar, that this is viewed by the Russian establishment as a long game and the immediate goal is to get it through those numbskulls participating in the EU that their ancient affinity with the UKUSA is passe and they might consider a better present and prosperous future. It takes a lot to break a paradigm as deep set as this.
Firstly Russia offered treaties to both NATO and the USA – only one need accept and sit down to negotiate. THAT is a mighty big step for either of course and we wait patiently as the ‘military/technical’ reasoning seeps into their tiny minds and then is even heard above the din of the screaming equity, rainbow magic, tiktok distractions. I guess at some point in time the oligarchs of the EU will call enough.
The war drags on and it need not. The peace is some way off yet but the demolition of the Ukrainian army both physically, technically and morale is escalating and could yet turn to rout. Even then it will be difficult for major Russian advances as the maniacal nazi with nato advice and weapons has mined the place up to the gills. IMO the grinder will grind on and every surrender will be accompanied with demining as we saw in the surrender at Azovstal when the ‘evacuees’ cleared a path out. Imagine that on a national scale!

“Sovereignty of the people is far, far better than sovereignty of a monarch. Russia has been there, done that. Suffered, and learned. ”
First, thanks for kind words.
Viz ‘suffered and learned..’: I humbly suggest you have absorbed too much Bolshevik propaganda. Russian working classes, especially peasants, had highest standard of living in Europe with highest percent owning their own land if they wished or being decently paid working for others’ estates. The murder of the Tsar and his family was an atrocity motivated by revenge because of the forced exile I believe the previous Tsar had imposed (sorry, not up on Russian history).
Re: ‘Sovereignty of the people is far, far better than sovereignty of a monarch.’ Sovereignty is a legal term. I suspect what you meant was majesty. Perhaps not, but that is what I was emphasizing. A shared sense of majesty / sacredness. In this context the experienced royalty / sacredness / majest of the Monarch is an experience shared by all who witness it. The splendor is experienced by all in other words, so the majesty of the monarch IS the peoples’ majesty at the same time.
Look at one of the oldest videos in the world: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV76XGDRmKA
Tsar Nicholas coronation. Look at how people are all bunched together in peace, order and joy especially in the last 10 seconds or so. There is discipline, class structure, togetherness. That is a high culture in action and without the presence of a Monarch providing a context and event it wouldn’t have come together that way. They are experiencing sacredness together. This is not the sole possession of the monarch by any stretch.
Yes, some of them have been ‘right royal bastards,’ tyrants. But many have been overthrown by wicked networks bent on power who later degrade the country causing degradation and death far in excess of what was the case before. And then they get to write the history and defame the characters of those they have deceitfully overthrown.
This togetherness, orderliness, solidarity, high culture, decency and joy is what the Bolsheviks hated.
This is what they destroyed.
Most of these people in the ceremony in this movie were butchered barely ten years after this movie was shot.
Such people exist today still, wreaking ugliness and death.
Such people are far worse than Tsar Nicholas II and his lovely family. And yet we still praise them for having improved the lives of ordinary Russians (whilst ignoring that over 30,000,000 of them were brutally slaughtered).
History truly is written by the victors.

Seconded. (Although I have a dyslexia issue that happens when typing in these little boxes and also I SWEAR some of the words I type get changed somehow afterwards to something entirely different!)
I commend you to the Yi Jing’s Hexagram #60, translated by Wilhelm as Limitation.
Excerpt from some of this traditional-style commentary:

THE IMAGE
Water over lake: the image of LIMITATION.
Thus the superior man
Creates number and measure,
And examines the nature of virtue and correct conduct.
A lake is something limited. Water is inexhaustible.
A lake can contain only a definite amount of the infinite quantity of water; this is its peculiarity. In human life too the individual achieves significance through discrimination and the setting of limits.
Therefore what concerns us here is the problem of clearly defining these discriminations, which are, so to speak, the backbone of morality. Unlimited possibilities are not suited to man; if they existed, his life would only dissolve in the boundless. To become strong, a man’s life needs the limitations
ordained by duty and voluntarily accepted. The individual attains significance as a free spirit only by surrounding himself with these limitations and by determining for himself what his duty is.”
In another commentary somewhere it mentions how limitation spur creativity, essentially what is expressed in the last sentence above.
I have often wondered at how lively and intelligent this group is despite not being able to reply directly underneath any given post, not being able to edit afterwards etc.
b is a wise and generous soul.

Today, Russia’s MFA published the following informational material “On the myths of the European Union in the field of food and energy security,” which is a PDF in Russian which I machine translated below. So we have this document and Putin’s interview statement on the issue.
DEBUNKING THE MYTHS SPREAD THE LEADERSHIP OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

1. Statement: Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and the Donbas has jeopardized food supplies in the world. (Source: Comments by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy J.Borrel on the results of the meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs, Brussels, April 11, 2022)
What is in reality. About the risk of a food crisis in the world the UN declared two years ago. The main drivers of price growth for agro–industrial products in recent years are the consequences COVID-19 pandemics, short-sighted economic and energy policies of the largest economies of the Western world, trade wars, adverse weather conditions, illegal unilateral sanctions The West in relation to the Russian Federation, underinvestment in the agricultural sector.
At the same time, according to UNCTAD, there is no physical shortage of food in the world. It’s about the system of their distribution. A big role here the price factor also plays a role.
The jump in prices for agro-industrial products was recorded back in 2020 and is not the result of a special military operation. According to FAO, from 2019 to February 2022, the food price index as a whole increased by 50%. According to information from stock exchanges, wheat prices increased by 25% in 2021, and by February 2022 they have already exceeded the average level by 31-62% over the past five years. Corn
has risen in price by 162% over the past two years, rapeseed – by 175%.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the supply and logistics chains in the world have been seriously disrupted. A sharp increase in anti-crisis financial injections into the economy for the post-pandemic recovery of the EU, the USA and Japan led to to a significant increase in demand and, as a result, a jump in inflation. Stocks are the same food was the lowest in the last 5-10 years. The EU’s ill-considered decisions on a hasty transition to “green energy” have led to record energy prices. This led to an
increase in the cost of agricultural production: fuel and electricity costs increased significantly (in 2020-2022 oil prices increased by more than 22%, average electricity prices in Europe in March 2022 reached historical highs: from 350% up to 530% in some EU countries compared to the same period in 2021). This instantly affected the production of mineral fertilizers (carbamide and saltpeter rose 3.5-4 times, the rest – 2.5-3 times) and grain. These factors were overlaid by unfavorable weather conditions and natural disasters in some regions of the world. As a result of anti-traffic restrictions on international movement, interruptions in freight traffic and a decrease in cargo transportation volumes, transport costs have significantly increased. Freight rates have increased practically 2 times. Unilateral illegitimate restrictive measures of the West against Russia, including obstacles to the transportation of goods, difficulties with the payment of supplies, bans on transactions, customs problems, have become additional risk factors in the field of global food security.
Brussels has openly declared a total trade and economic war on our country, ignoring the fact that Russia is one of the world leaders in the supply of basic agricultural products (wheat, barley, sunflower, mineral fertilizers and fodder crops), including including low-income countries at risk of food shortages.
The leadership of the European Union, instead of unfounded accusations, should be engaged in the effective elimination of its own system errors in macroeconomic, financial, trade, energy and agro-industrial policies, stop delaying commodity flows to the detriment of the situation of developing countries, and also refuse from the vicious practice of introducing unilateral restrictive measures contrary to the norms of international law.
2. Statement: Russia is occupying Ukrainian lands and it is shelling the farmlands of Ukraine. Sowing operations in Ukraine in 2022 are under threat. (Source: Blog Entry High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy J.Borrel “Food Insecurity: It’s time to act”, April 7, 2022)
What is really. Tasks of a special military operation The purpose of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is to protect the civilian population of the DPR and LPR from a real threat from neo-Nazi “volunteer battalions”. The Russian military does not they occupy the territory of Ukraine and do not set themselves such tasks.
They are fulfilling their duty to force Kiev to peace on the terms of demilitarization, denazification and ensuring the neutral and nuclear-free status of a state that would cease to pose a threat to part of its own population and its neighbors.
The Kiev authorities confirm that the sowing campaign in the current The year takes place in all regions of Ukraine. The pace of its implementation is 20-30% lower than last year. By mid-May 2022, about 8.6 million hectares of land were sown with various crops, which is 24% less last year’s indicator. Among the main reasons for the slowdown are the shortage of fuel and lubricants (directed to the needs of the Armed Forces), mobilization male population, mining of AFU fields and marine areas. Nevertheless, on May 11, 2022, the Prime Minister of Ukraine D. Shmygal recognized, that, “despite the known difficulties,” Ukrainian farmers “coped with his task.”
3. Statement: Russia is purposefully destroying Ukrainian agriculture, including agricultural machinery, granaries and specialized infrastructure. (Source: Statement by the Chairman European Commission U. von der Leyen at the session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, May 24, 2022)
What is really. In its usual manner, Brussels misleads the international community by manipulating facts. The European Commission, as well as Ukrainian structures making such accusations (NGO “Ukrainian Environmental Group”, Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy of Ukraine, etc.), do not provide any documentary evidence, including photos and videos. Data on the number and names of destroyed in the course of hostilities, there are also no objects of agricultural infrastructure and equipment in the public domain.
Russia is interested in Ukraine as well as the DPR and LPR, remained a self-sufficient state in terms of
food security. It is in the national interest Russia, and also contributes to reducing the migration burden on our country. We are making the necessary efforts for this. A sowing campaign has begun in the liberated territories, restoration measures are being carried out, including agricultural infrastructure. Producers from different regions of Russia will provide seeds of vegetables and cereals for shipment to the DPR and LPR. 40 tons of seed have already been delivered to Donbass. At the same time, in the south of the Kherson region, Russian servicemen neutralized more than 12 thousand explosive objects during humanitarian demining of agricultural lands. Over 200 hectares of the liberated territories of the DPR and LPR have been cleared of explosive devices.
Against this background, actively escalating the situation around the food crisis threatening the world, Brussels announced a full-scale mobilization in order to promptly export millions of tons of Ukrainian grain to the European Union. By July 2022, the European Union intends to export about 20 million tons of grain to the west.
To do this, transport corridors are being created, alternative to the blocked sea route through the fault of Kiev itself. The operational direction of additional trucks and freight cars for grain transportation, barges to the Ukrainian border, the inclusion of special slots for trains with Ukrainian grain in the railway schedule, customs duties are canceled for a year for Ukrainian export. Grain, corn, and oilseeds are exported in huge volumes. This is evidenced by numerous videos published in the media. This does not prevent Brussels from the most It is cynically groundless to accuse Moscow of “confiscating Ukrainian” stocks of grain and agricultural machinery by the method of prodrazverstki.
The campaign launched by the EU to export grain from Ukraine cannot but raise doubts about the final consumer of this product and how much it will eventually arrive in third countries, in the interests of which Brussels allegedly operates. There are good reasons to believe that the funds received from the sale of agricultural products are used to pay for Western weapons and military equipment supplied to Ukraine.
Something similar has already happened in the history of Ukraine. In February 1918, by agreement with the government of its central rada, German and Austrian troops entered the Ukrainian territory under the pretext of protection from Soviet Russia. In return, 37 thousand wagons with Ukrainian provisions were taken to Berlin and Vienna.
We have already clearly seen the true price of the “humanism” of the West on the example of the fight gainst the corona crisis, including when solving the issue with the distribution and supply of vaccines. As practice shows, such assistance is primarily intended to serve the geopolitical interests of the EU itself.
Moreover, the EU intends to export food from Ukraine en masse, despite the significant decrease in the harvest predicted by international experts on the territory of this country this year. The inevitable
consequences of this for Ukrainians–rising prices and food shortages–are, of course, not taken into account.
So, the European Union is engaged in undermining the foundations of agriculture, and not only
Ukrainian.

And that’s all I was able to translate in one go. The document still has eight pages remaining. That’s enough to get the overall gist that the usual suspects are lying again as usual. As was mentioned on Crosstalk, there’s a war on information, not fake news, plus the Propaganda/Information War. The censorship of general info by YouTube, Twitter and Facebook is quite massive, although we’re very fortunate they can’t erase and replace it all as in 1984. Luongo made reference to the lack of quality education at the expense of Wokeness Indoctrination, which goes against his contention that the states have some sway over Washington since education is in the State’s domain, not the Feds.

Good point about US oil production. Few Americans realize that the vast majority of what is sucked out of the ground is condensates, not oil. Condensates must be blended with oil before being processed at US refineries.
Russia is not running out of oil and is actually making new discoveries in extreme environments such as the Arctic. Russia can also rejuvenate old oil fields using its advanced pulsed plasma technology.

True, but I believe there are lots of NGO’s lobbying lots of different things on the State level albeit nationally coordinated. The disorganized local citizenry has been outplayed on those fronts for decades now.
One of the Founders remarked that the American system would only work present the good will of all involved. Absent such good will, ie with too many bad actors in the mix as is currently the case, it will founder.

“Yet your central communication is jews bad, communists bad, should I trust Putin or shouldn’t I” hmmm no I don’t coz NWO plot, jew and communism.”
I don’t think that’s my ‘central’ communication but it does come up. I think the communist business comes up because there is such a heavy bias in favor of Putin here – mainly for good reasons I might add – that it seems that any reminders of some of the nasty aspects of Russian or Chinese communism is taken as an insult. It’s not meant that way rather to remind us that there are valid reasons for people to distrust the Russians (if they feel they are still communists at heart or because of what they did as Russians years ago) or Chinese (same).
I find the entire Jewish business distasteful but it comes up often when analyzing Western history and especially in this part of the world (Khazaria, the Pale, Russia, neocons, banking cartels) and so forth. They are not irrelevancies even though there is a certain pressure to always keep them out of the conversation. But doing so is a form of lie just as most war-time propaganda is a tissue of lies, many of them spun decades ago but still entangling us today.
So forgive me for being a bit all over the map. Unlike many here I haven’t come to a firm conclusion. I don’t know what happened in much of the last century although I have become aware of very many lies (like Pearl Harbour ‘surprise attack,’ or Iraq’s ‘Weapons of mass destruction’ and so many others). So I don’t trust reports on either side about what is going on.
Which means I also don’t take at face value Putin and Xi’s push for the United Nations. They don’t explain how it should work practically speaking in terms of what executive powers or not it should possess, only praise it as an ideal to strive for. But the UN includes the WHO which I think was a very harmful agency a couple of years back and is about to get plenary powers to declare health emergencies and dictate to sovereign nations how to handle them. I like Putin’s speeches which karlov1 kindly shares here, indeed I like them very much.
But I still don’t trust the WHO. And think that new legislation sucks. And have not forgotten the Great Reset business – also never spelled out in practical terms – and fear we are entering an age of world-wide techno-fascist tyranny and despite all the glowing multipolar rhetoric I get the feeling that Russia and China will be front and center in that over-centralized totalitarian order.
So apologies for not having a clear bias. I’ll try to pull back. It’s time. I’ve sort of said my piece anyway – actually posting is a way of finding out what I think because I don’t really think this stuff to myself so writing helps clarify greatly.
Thanks for your time.

I have to say that I rarely read comments on most sites — just this one! I learn a LOT! The recent article points to the way the Media manipulate “news” to match reader prejudices. They are not “manufacturing” consent so much as they are appealing to prejudices created at an early age, as part of worldview which is emotional rather than fact-based. The elites are actually part of the “public mind”. The puppeteers are also puppets. So yeah the media must use the same emotional lanuguage”
“running out”. Deep down is the fear of the future — “running out” of resources, of time, of ability to do anything. In the meantime, the Ukraine SMO goes on, quite misunderstood by just about everybody. https://julianmacfarlane.substack.com/p/scott-ritter-is-wrong?s=w

Not that anyone cares (Et Tu is far more important here), but here are the last two Russian MoD briefings…
Briefing by Russian Defence Ministry
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.
High-precision air-based missiles have hit 21 areas of AFU manpower and military equipment concentration, including command posts of the Ukrainian Nazi formations Kraken and Azov near Kharkov. [MY NOTE: Possibly because the neo-Nazis were reported conducting executions of “traitors” in Kharkov.]
Operational-tactical, army and unmanned aviation have hit 15 areas of Ukrainian manpower and military equipment concentration. Ammunition and fuel depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Dolina and Slavyansk, Donetsk People’s Republic have been destroyed.
The attacks have resulted in the elimination of up to 240 nationalists and up to 39 weapons and military equipment, including 1 Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system, 10 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, 3 BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers, 7 artillery mounts and mortars, and 17 special vehicles.
Fighter aviation have shot down 1 Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian air force near Lubomirovka, Nikolaev Region.
Russian air defence means have hit 7 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Odessa, Kamyshevakha, Popasnaya, Zolotoe, Kudryashovka in Lugansk People’s Republic, Yarovaya in Kharkov Region, as well as Verkhnetoretskoe in Donetsk People’s Republic overnight.
Missile troops and artillery have hit 131 command posts, 146 artillery and mortar batteries at firing positions, as well as 579 areas of AFU manpower and military equipment concentration.
In total, 186 Ukrainian aircraft and 129 helicopters, 1,084 unmanned aerial vehicles, 327 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,373 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 460 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,752 field artillery and mortars, as well as 3,350 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.
We note that the inflow of foreign mercenaries to Ukraine to take part in combat operations against the Russian Armed Forces has virtually dried up since the beginning of May.
According to the data at our disposal, the total number of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine has now been almost halved from 6,600 to 3,500. At the same time, the number of mercenaries in combat units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard in Donbass has decreased by orders of magnitude.
Hundreds of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine were eliminated by Russian long-range precision weapons shortly after their arrival while they were still undergoing pre-training and coordination of tactical units.

But most of the mercenaries are destroyed in the war zone due to their low level of training and lack of real combat experience.
Separately, I would like to point out that the commanders of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard units, which included mercenaries, are not sparing foreigners in their efforts to reduce losses of their servicemen. Captured mercenaries tell interrogators that they are the first to be sacrificed. Due to the Kiev regime’s silencing of the losses and the absence of remains, relatives of the mercenaries in their countries of residence simply do not know about their deaths.
Faced with a real combat situation and heavy losses among servicemen of the AFU, the National Guard and foreigners, a significant number of mercenaries prefer to leave Ukrainian territory as soon as possible, but the Kiev regime prevents them from going abroad in every possible way.
Let me remind you that under international humanitarian law, mercenaries are not combatants and the best that awaits them is criminal liability.
The Kiev regime’s urgent attempts to guarantee the mercenaries legal protection by including them in the military units of the AFU or the National Guard, or by issuing them with fresh Ukrainian passports, will not save any of them.

Briefing by Russian Defence Ministry
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine.
High-precision air-based missiles of the Russian Aerospace Forces have hit 21 areas of concentration of AFU manpower and military equipment during the day.
Operational-tactical, army and unmanned aviation have hit 37 areas of Ukrainian manpower and military equipment concentration.
The attacks have resulted in the elimination of more than 360 nationalists and 49 weapons and military equipment including 1 detection and airspace control radar station in Slavyansk, Donetsk People’s Republic.
Also 13 Ukrainian tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, 1 Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system have been destroyed near Bakhmut, as well as 2 mortar batteries, 2 Grad multiple rocket launchers, 8 artillery mounts, 26 special vehicles, and 4 missile and artillery weapon depots near Soledar, Dzerzhinsk, Yakovlevka and Bakhmut.

Russian air defence means have shot down 3 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Ryasnaya, Krutaya Balka, Donetsk People’s Republic and Dmitrovka, Kharkov Region overnight. 3 Uragan multiple-launch rockets have been also intercepted over Petropolie, Kamenka, Kharkov Region, and Novoselovka Vtoraya, Donetsk People’s Republic.
Missile troops and artillery have hit 26 command posts, 122 AFU artillery and mortar batteries at firing positions, 537 areas of AFU manpower and military equipment concentration, as well as 5 ammunition depots. 1 AFU unmanned aerial vehicle control post near Pervomaiskoe in Nikolaev Region has been destroyed.
In total, 186 Ukrainian aircraft and 129 helicopters, 1,087 unmanned aerial vehicles, 328 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,386 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 462 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,760 field artillery and mortars, as well as 3,376 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.
Against the backdrop of Kiev’s political catastrophe in Mariupol and military failures in Donbass, the Kiev regime, with British financial support, has organised the production of “morale raise” videos for Western and Ukrainian audiences.
In particular, on May 28, staged video was filmed near Meshkovka, Nikolaev Region, of the alleged “high efficiency” of the use of Western weaponry by Ukrainian nationalists.
To add more drama to the future film, at the insistence of British supervisors, a re-enactment of never-existing battle between Ukrainian Nazis and outnumbered “Russian soldiers” was created on the set.
The roles of “opponents” of the Ukrainian Nazis in the staged short film were performed by members of the local territorial defence unit wearing red armbands.
In the absence of trophy Russian equipment, the mock enemy appears in the frame using Ukrainian APCs and armoured vehicles.
The next video shoot is scheduled for June 5 and 6. The videos will focus on staged testimonies of “ordinary Ukrainians” accusing Russia of allegedly deliberately shelling civilian populated areas.

My gosh, what a beautiful excerpt you found for us! I’m beside myself, stunned…
I don’t know anything about hexagram commentary — what category scholars reserve for it — it has an unassuming aroma I associate with Lao Tzu’s Tao te Ching. The English-language translations I have of the classic #8 vary so wildly, an apparent linguistic gap from Chinese is chasmous. My favorite for the moment, R.B. Blakney’s:

The highest goodness, water-like,
Does good to everything, and goes
Unmurmuring to places men despise;
But so, is close in nature to the Way.
If the good of the house is from land,
Or the good of the mind is its depth,
Or love is the virtue of friendship,
Or honesty blesses one’s talk,
Or in government, goodness is order,
Or in business, skill is admired,
Or the worth of an act lies in timing,
Then peace is the goal of the Way
By which no one ever goes astray.

G. Lira has a long thread on what comes after the annihilation of the ukrainian/azov forces in the Donbass and other areas
here are several of his ideas, which initially correspond to what I have thought for months: they’ll keep the south and east, which are predominantly russian; and off-load the central and western parts, but only after complete de-militarization and de-nazification. And, Zelensky is a dead man walking, unless he makes it to the Caribbean or south FL/Miami, the cesspool of war criminals and narcos
https://twitter.com/GonzaloLira1968/status/1532807710022029312
Gonzalo Lira @GonzaloLira1968
It ought to be obvious that Russia intends to capture ALL of Ukraine, right up to the Polish border—in fact they HAVE to. They cannot take big bites in the south and east—and then stop. That would be an invitation for NATO to pour money/men/weapons into the rump Ukraine.
….Russia cares about the south and east—the ethnic Russian areas—but they’ll have to take control of central and western Ukraine as well, to prevent an unfriendly power (NATO) from sliding in and causing trouble for them.
But the Russians don’t want central or western Ukraine.
…Russia wants a return on investment, not an endless money-sink.
So Russia’s goal for central and western Ukraine would be:
►Neutralize the regions militarily
►Get rid of the crazy Nazis
►Punt both regions to someone else—make them become someone else’s problem.
….Regardless, once Zelensky is gone—and he will be gone, one way or another—a new political authority will emerge in Ukraine: This new regime will cut a deal with the Kremlin—but only after Russia has complete military control of the entire country.
etc etc etc……..

US citizens above all want to be entertained and there are so many options. I remember when the pong video game came out. Wow what a marvel. My parents were smart enough to say no.
There are enough good people out there that in the absense of propaganda some common sense would prevail and this situation would have been avoided or shortened. The battle space in that aspect of the mind and thoughts is most important.

Politics and policy driving the Ukraine project w/ Jacob Dreizin (Live)

Dreizin refers to the Zelenskyy regime as essentially a “show production office” with an actor and all his production crew friends running the country like a TV show. Nice simile. But now it’s falling apart.
The rest of his analysis isn’t anything new but it’s reasonably well stated. The nice part is he admits he has no idea where or if Russia will stop. He does believe that as long as Uncle Sam is paying Zelenskyy’s salary and Zelenskyy has a functioning military to whatever degree, the war will continue until either Uncle Sam pulls the rug out from under him or the Russians steamroll him.

Thanks for kind words. I thought since we are (mainly though not without reservations in my case!) cheerleading the Eurasians that a little of their oldest and most seminal text might be in order. Also, as soon as the low-tech topic arose along with the observation that it seemed to work out so well I immediately thought: ‘Hexagram 60!’
The text is one of the earlier ones in English translated from German; the author studied with a pre-communist trained daoist master and, though have read probably over 20 different versions by now, this is the best.
If you find it of interest I did a Yi throw for the Chinese New Year earlier at https://baronbrasdor.art/2022/03/04/yi-jing-year-of-the-water-tiger-2022/ . On 08.30 that New Year’s Day there was an earthquake where I lived so I did a time-based throw; the hexagram result from such method changes every hour. The result of the throw was Double Thunder (51) Shock! (Also sometimes called Earthquake!). It’s a funny old world….. That one, composed by myself so not nearly as elegant as Wilhelm:

As per usual the need to believe its all gonna be good means that many missed the point of what I’m trying to say.
The turks must have been starting their preliminary incursion into Syria as I was writing the post. “Coincidentally” the biden creep is meeting SA’s despot Mohammed bin Salman this weekend. Sure sure they will be talking oil, but given that russia has a seat on opec plus & amerika does not, meaning getting cooperation necessary to reduce the pressure on prices by everyone pumping more crude outta the ground is unlikely. IOW Biden is likely to be there for other reasons as well so SA has an interest in ‘confronting’ Iran in Syria which Biden could use as bait to get some unilateral movement by SA.
Also the funding for what are colloquially known as headchoppers.
I see that suddenly RF, the mob who saved Syria by entering the conflict at a time when all appeared lost, no longer count for much according to the clueless one. Pitiful.
The same goes for the gazprom bank thing. As long as funds are in euro, euro dollars, or usd it is traceable by amerika and europe through the system. Nowhere did I suggest that amerika would grab alla China’s dosh, apart from being silly that would be unnecessary. This inanity of pushing something to the extreme just to try & disprove something else is pretty strawman-like I reckon.
All amerika et al they need do is plot the paths of these billions and see where it ends up. The next step once sufficient evidence has been collected to demonstrate these paths, amerika will issue a warning, as they have done in the past, that ‘sanctions busters’ will be punished. Then if the dosh continues to be washed the same way, they will sanction the institutions they claim are involved. Because the institutions are buying euros, eurodollars or usd, they have to be connected to the ‘western economic system’, there is no other way and this is why I got so angry when russia backed off by agreeing to allow euro corps to deposit in euros and gazprom converts it.
They (amerika et al) can modulate these punishments as it suits, targeting whatever institution they choose, thereby forcing euro states to toe the line as well as leaning on the particular institutions involved along the money trail as they may wish to. I doubt any bank is gonna stick up its paw and say “What about me, you haven’t sanctioned me yet”. euro states who become too independent could find that their gas is cut off as particular routes that their gazprom funds journey through are put under pressure.
Of course gazprom will mix it all up concealing the source of particular funds as much as possible, but that doesn’t matter if the correct signals/dogwhistles are sent out letting Russia know that that money will be grabbed as long as Russia keeps selling to nation X or whoever.
This stuff is pretty much bully boy amerika 101 and Russia will have counters as will nations whose institutions may be targeted but that will not make this type of move any the less inevitable and it is smart to recognise that instead of this endless “We’re winning, we’re winning” while paying no heed to future consequences.
As long as any Russian institution has to interact financially after payment is received they are vulnerable cos the dollars, euros & eurodollars are worthless unless Russia can redeem them somewhere, an act that can be made extremely difficult if not impossible for any entity.
India & China will go along with Russia until it really costs them, then they have to look after their own first.
The sums involved are huge, far more than what Russian bond payments require and if one of India’s or China’s financial institutions are pushed to the point of illiquidity, whole-hearted support for Russia will disappear.

These traders can be anybody and it certainly is not gazprom.
Likely the traders are composed of international spectrum so if to sanction wherever these traded EUR end up, it basically ends the EUR as a currency.
What if the moex EUR are used to buy gold? Will the seller of the gold then be the one whose EUR are stolen from?

aka the kick butt and take names throw… makes me nervous when that one pops up
I occasionally share my weird background, growing up a “Christian Scientist”. Delusional thinking patterns inculcated by this pseudo-Christian cult caused irreparable harm — not to mention incredible suffering — to my whole family. So I can wax quite angry with the false prophets I bump into (living or dead). My dearest teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, never presents his teachings as “religious” — it’s simply “practice”, nothing more. He urges students to stick with what was handed down to them. (In my case, I found it necessary to defy this teaching!)
There’s a key saint of Orthodoxy, nearly considered a heretic by other Christians, who has snagged me like a fish on a hook: the “pious fraud” Denys the Areopagite. Two main qualities make his corpus special:
(1) He grants me the freedom I need to reconcile, to make sense of things. At the same time, he’s remarkably difficult — great calisthenics for my gray matter.
(2) He attracts the most interesting theological scholars like a gosh-darn bug-lite.

“ something broke when the EU banned RT. It was the straw that made me wonder. Given that war is an egregious act and Putin was a baaaad man, no amount of propaganda would be able to whitewash that stain. So why the ban? That was the flowering of a seed that had been planted by the OTT reaction to COVID “misinformation”. I am ashamed to say that if not for the SMO or some such, that seed would have eventually withered away as I roasted my brain imbibing the drivel that passes for information/news in the MSM space…I still can’t believe how gullible I was.”
————
Beautifully reasoned and stated if I may say.
Being a great thinker, writer and general a jolly human being Mr Clements put it more succinctly, something like “it’s easier to sucker people than it is to convince them they been suckered”.
I have found that in sharing links to Alt-media through this SMO – not a declared war yet (it would not be much different in Ukraine but currently arms length ‘belligerents’ would find themselves actual legally in the spotlights and that means EVERYWHERE …see these desert mirage cities and bases and private islands and superyachts etc? Well you wouldn’t see them anymore so fast, they would vanish like magic! Most populations wouldn’t even know that it had happened. Cause a wars a war and a SO is agreeing to get into a ring). – anyway sharing such links and asking them to follow not just the articles but the COMMENTS , hurrah to us, will show them that all such issues are being addressed by many cynics.
The comebacks based on their Google searches – which obvs return the Propaganda results are usually finding a Russian saying something anti-Putin or some such crap.
That leads inevitably to me asking why if Russian media is supposedly just propaganda that everyone ‘knows’ is propaganda because our ‘free’ propaganda says so, why does it need to be banned?
I have almost never seen Russian media , neither have most Brits. So when my friend tells me it’s because most people are gullible (!!!) I try not to laugh at their absurdity as embodiment of the Mark Twain misquote above, I ask my friends why does it need to be negated when it is so marginal viewed and so easily countered by the 90+ percent of our own media?? Are we too stupid to realise that it must be propaganda???
Its then that something clicks as their eyes go blank for a few moments when they realise they realise that they may inadvertently have found themselves on a pedestal because they just heard themselves saying that most people are thick as mince compared to themselves! ‘How did I get here?? (D Byrne)
At that point I usually change the topic to something more controversial, that will allow them to come out with another of their certitudes, like the fact that all Money we Know is Magic Money. This restores their balance and we carry on drinking.
This mode of discourse is something that I have had to develop due to many of my older friends who have been suffering greatly under politically imposed Austerity since 2009, led to their belief that Breshit was in some way something good for reversing that Austerity. Even when they didn’t think that vote would go that way (it didn’t , it was a fixed poll using postal votes). But then they embraced it because the propaganda told them that it WAS their decision!
Suckers will find out the hard way but they are my suckers and I love them even if they refuse to believe they are suckered.

giving the benefit of the doubt to you has worn thin.
it is a mish mash and entirely incongruous.
I don’t know what you are trying to do here but whatever it is I am not buying it.

Yes K, my sentiments as well. I got a strong hint with the first mention of Bernardo Kastrup not too long ago.
Since then it’s just been a flood of mish mash word salads from that poster. Gruff @ 21:47 # 192 has it targeted.
Prolly time to again run the Edward Abbey quote: “To refute the solipsist or the metaphysical idealist all that you have
to do is take him out and throw a rock at his head: if he ducks he’s a liar”.

… As Peter has already noted, Donetsk has been substantially evacuated in any case. Obviously this is not an ideal situation but other areas are being prioritised. …
Posted by: MarkU | Jun 3 2022 22:05 utc | 195

Probably many considerations in the fact that RF hasn’t put a definitive stop to the shelling but another angle might be that a largely evacuated Donetsk gets the mostly pro-RF population away from the front and away from a whole bunch of horrific and not-too-far-fetched escalatory scenarios.

Today, Putin was interviewed by Rossiya 1 TV channel journalist Pavel Zarubin.

What most of these headlines have in common is their descriptive accuracy when applied in reverse.
This one is the king of them all:
Russia is running out of precision-guided munitions and may struggle to replenish their stocks, says UK Defense Ministry

Scorpion @237
“Russian working classes, especially peasants, had highest standard of living in Europe with highest percent owning their own land if they wished or being decently paid working for others’ estates.”
If you say so. However, just a little bit later:
“The murder of the Tsar and his family was an atrocity motivated by revenge because of the forced exile I believe the previous Tsar had imposed (sorry, not up on Russian history).
(My bolding)
Hilarious!! This I why I read the site! No comedy has lately been so uproarious. Laughing on the floor, holding stomach!

To Bernhard, RHS, Karloff, greenwood and others:
This site has a possibility of being controlled by trolls and it is becoming serious.
Wobblies and etu use western garbage to justify their claims. but they do it everyday. Now you have some Jew Ann Miller, spreading the racist Jewish lamentations, when they are the perpetrators of the evil. I say that not lightly.
Russia is still embedded with this evil and that is their greatest weakness. For decades, I have watched this evil go around the world destroying, occupying, lying and creating complete chaos, under pretexts.
Human rights, black lives matter, LGBT, transgender, cancel culture, NGO’s, sporting bodies. Movies etc… All designed to give you a fantasy world. How they ever came to be mouthpieces for geopolitics, without any formal education is for you to embrace.
Never mind that they displaced millions of Palestinians from their own lands, but continue to kill them everyday with controlled western immunity.
You all will find out that no matter what deals you see in your Jewish press(yes that is correct), you will be faced with a harsh reality.
Israel does not have the power to attack Iran anymore despite the 6 month long threats. Their attacks into Syria will slowly dissolve. Zelinsky’s plan as said, to create a home for the Jews has collapsed. They will be assimilated into their homeland America/ Canada and Europe, along with the increasing numbers of Nazis.
Did none of you every know the history of these people, when western Europe ran them out and they found refugee in moor Spain or in Arab lands, and Russia? Obviously to the detriment of these countries.

The 1939(!!) UK Cancer Act…PROHIBITS the publication of ANY cancer cure, that making it illegal for a doc. (or me if in in UK), to mention such.
From Wikipedia:
The Act provides for exceptions in making material available to registered medical and nursing personnel and pharmacists, and for material produced by hospitals and local authorities.

I trust Russia will transfer key essentials from Motor Sich to Russian manufacturers and block supply of engines to Turkey and others. This factory is clearly vital to NATO

Autobiography of Mark Twain, Vol. 2, p. 302: “How easy it is to make people believe a lie, and hard it is to undo that work again!”
According to wikiquote, that’s what he actually said. The familiar paraphrase, alas, he did not say: “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.” Nah, that’s no mere paraphrase. I think Twain meant it more profoundly — possibly with a hint of reflective regret.

To northeners and James, fellow Canadian.
Canada has always promoted itself as multi cultural. I have never ever bought into that ideal. The French in Quebec are intrinsically racist, and in the west even more so.
In Ontario, where I grew up immigrants are plentiful, as most do not want to brave the severe cold in the other parts of Canada. We have always touted our country as multicultural, but that was always a lie.
Western countries needed immigrants to work and pay taxes to support the dwindling white population that rely on their hard worked pensions, including myself. If they could have have filled the country with white people the would have.
I always knew I lived in a racist country, and even stop listening to anything ( radio, tv, internet), but it was when Trudeau locked up the Huawei executive, that I turned the radio.
The rabid racist words against china was a astounding to me. I always taught that we were a little better than the mad bully that share our borders. The self God bless USA.
The west has not only exposed their hatred but their racism, which the rest of the world can see. Why?
Well, we will have to live in a world moulded and created by our masters, except that it ain’t be good.

Total information awareness to the extent of blocking rt.com from ordinary connections has not yet arrived out here in Babylon by the Bay, but I’d expect such protections imminently to arrive. I’m worried: maybe I should stop using my real name?

Von Der Slavery and Borrell, bright minds in charge of the new soviet Europe, not only RT, RIA is blocked too, but they do not get tired talking about values, freedoms, democracy and all that BS.

Prior to 1991 the position of President in Ukraine did not exist.
Zelensky was elected by dusenfranching 12% voters and requiring $90,000 deposit so only Poroschenko and Z were in final round

“but it was when Trudeau locked up the Huawei executive, that I turned the radio.”
That was forced by John Bolton, whom Trump had just made National Security Advisor.
