Posted by: Wobblie | Mar 4 2022 2:55 utc | 401 What I can’t understand about this maneuver by the UK, however, is what they hope to achieve. I assume everybody realizes that US/NATO is not going to be able to enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Do these people WANT Russia S-500s and advanced electronic warfare technology (which I don’t think we’ve seen so far) to be deployed against European and US pilots and ground support units? They’re just willingly throwing themselves on the altar of America ready to be eviscerated. From where I sit (semirural western USA) it’s accessible. I get lots of 502 Bad Gateway error messages, so sometimes I have to try 3-4 times before the page loads. I lack the expertise to determine whether a DDoS attack is underway (despite RT’s apparent use of something called DDoS Guard) or whether the server is getting genuine traffic in amounts it can’t handle. Posted by: malenkov | Mar 4 2022 3:03 utc | 409 This piece sums up my annoyance at so many of the “left” who have come out against Russia: The bioweapons labs aspect for this war is not without considerable basis: Posted by: Anonymous | Mar 4 2022 3:06 utc | 411 Still watching http://www.rt.com “on air” live feed here in south west Ontario. I am also following that YouTube account for regular updates. I had no idea that translation could be done in the video itself. I was taking the entire transcript and translating it on other translator portals. Posted by: AB17 | Mar 4 2022 3:45 utc | 420 c1ue 323, Posted by: reante | Mar 4 2022 3:45 utc | 421 Wow, Lindsey Graham just called for the assassination of President Putin, live on Fox TV and then tweeted it out. The Americans have gone totally insane, virtue signaling for domestic political gain is rendering the US utterly incapable of diplomacy. Graham might be able to delete the tweet, but he’ll never be able to walk this comment back, he is torching the US’s ability to de-escalate with Russia. No surprise. That’s the American M.O for decades now, don’t you know ? Posted by: Arch Bungle | Mar 4 2022 3:59 utc | 427 @Posted by: Roger | Mar 4 2022 3:03 utc | 412 My belief that most Americans are willfully, and totally ignorant of real world events, has only been magnified by our MSM’s exceptional, and ruthless daily anti-Russian propaganda. Posted by: vetinLA | Mar 4 2022 4:04 utc | 429 Post from a commentator over at The Saker who’s been posting some useful comments in the last few days. He makes an excellent point about the “Russians are running out of food” bullcrap. I think you are really cool. I’m pretty freaked out about what is going on. Not really for myself, but I feel badly for my daughter who is about to turn 21, her friends and all the kids who will suffer from this avoidable horror show. Нехорошо. это грустно. Posted by: lex talionis | Mar 4 2022 4:13 utc | 433 nakedcapitalism.com is running a thread on war and peace in Ukraine, some good but a lot (it seemed to me) less facing the realities that may soon be upon us. However, I stayed away from predicting such; just did my best to clear up a misconception about Putin’s aims for the Ukrainian army as he has indicated that. As I was typing it, that seemed to me a real possible plan for dealing with the situation at Mariupol, to make those troops aware of the ramifications of continuing to use civilians as hostages. My hope would be that they could offer something real in exchange for precious lives. Here’s my post:
It was still waiting for moderation when I left. Posted by: imo | Mar 4 2022 4:21 utc | 437 Further to senator Lindsey Graham’s recent call to assassinate Putin, I just noticed that this discussion at Council on Foreign Relations that was livestreamed this morning and it also brings up assassinating Putin (around the 43 min mark – note that CFR avoids using the A-word, although the tone about removing/eliminating him is crystal clear in it’s intention). No way that is a coincidence, Graham has spoken to the CFR numerous times and the Neo-Cons at the council must have been talking about this behind the scenes for sometime and now they are starting to tease the idea publicly. Graham is an idiot, but also a coward who never stuck his neck out on anything without the support of the backroom figures. They probably planted this idea in his head during their meetings and Graham embraced it full hog so he immediately spat it out the next time he was in front of the cameras. Posted by: Kadath | Mar 4 2022 4:29 utc | 438 I have decided to remove all mainstream media (western and eastern) from my feeds/preferences on youtube and other places permanently. My comment: I don’t think Russia will storm Mariupol. They will do the usual Syria tactics: Surround, cut off food and water, probing attacks, then weakening attacks, then when the city falls, send in the Chechens to mop up the Azov die-hards. Posted by: Merlin2 | Mar 4 2022 7:15 utc | 476 In a thread that’s gone viral, some goon argues that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is very similar to the USSR’s invasion of Finland, without going into any great detail, or any, about who Finland was allied with and who the Finn’s fought beside in WW2. Posted by: Hidari | Mar 4 2022 7:17 utc | 477 A teacher in the ‘United’ States is fired for teaching a balanced view of the Russian-Ukraine war, teaching the objectively correct facts that there are sins on both sides. Posted by: Hidari | Mar 4 2022 7:20 utc | 478 I’m assuming we all agree that if it were to happen, Russia would be the one to fire the first nuke, right? And if so, why exactly are some of us blaming the US ahead of time? Posted by: reante | Mar 4 2022 7:21 utc | 479 Bad news: the USA has closed its airspace to Russian flying aircraft carriers like this one. Maybe it is social media amplifying everything, I don’t know because I’m not on social media, or maybe Operation Mockingbird (whatever it is called these days)has just gotten more entrenched. back in the day, they just forced Donahue off the air, these days there would be calls for his arrest and prosecution.
