Disarming Ukraine Day 15: A Curious Hospital Bombing And ‘No-Fly Zone’ Pressure

This allegedly happened on March 9 at about 17:30 local time (15:30 UTC) in Mariupol, Ukraine:

Russian forces bombed a maternity and children's hospital in southern Ukraine, authorities there said Wednesday, an attack described by the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky as an "atrocity."

Mariupol city council posted a video of the devastated hospital in the city and accused Russian forces of dropping several bombs on it from the air.

Police in the Donetsk region said that according to preliminary information at least 17 people were injured, including mothers and staff, as a result of the attack.

Zelensky repeated his call for the NATO military alliance to declare a no-fly zone over Ukraine, as he expressed his outrage at the attack.

This is curious. The three story building is quite large with more than a hundred rooms.

bigger

Pictures show that all windows have been destroyed by a huge pressure wave. If there had been people in the building many would be dead and all would likely have cuts from glass and other debris flying around.

How come that there were allegedly only 17 people injured?

The video taken shortly after the incident (still in daylight) and published by CNN shortly thereafter shows the completely destroyed interior of the hospital but no casualties and no traces of blood on the floors. The still pictures published with the CNN report show only one man in uniform who has some blood on his face. Other persons in the pictures have no visible signs of wounds.

A day before a news piece in the Russian magazine Lenta.ru published on March 8 at 00:01 local time (March 7 21:01 UTC) had mentioned the hospital. (The piece was fetched by archive.org on March 7 22:09 UTC.) It is a report from a Lenta.ru reporter in Donbas who interviewed refugees arriving from Mariupol. Here is a machine translated excerpt:

“They can’t hold out for more than a week” Residents of Mariupol talk about the humanitarian catastrophe that is unfolding before their eyes

The correspondent of Lenta.ru visited the village of Bezymennoye in the south of the DPR, where residents of Mariupol fleeing the hostilities arrive, and talked with those who managed to leave the city.

Some of the residents of the villages adjacent to Mariupol managed to get to the territory controlled by the DPR without any problems. But not everyone is so lucky, and everyone has their own story.

During the first day of the humanitarian corridor's operation, only 52 people left Mariupol (and about 200,000 were expected). There are always human tragedies behind the numbers.

A man walks by the tents where refugees are taken. He is on edge and does not let go of the phone, his face shows that he has not been without sleep for several days. His name is Igor, he spent about a day on the road to get to Bezymennoye from the Crimea. He constantly approaches the military, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, asking to see the lists to find out if his elderly parents were able to evacuate from Mariupol. He is trying to go along with the soldiers towards the front line, closer to the city.

Igor said that in the last days of February, people in uniform came to the maternity hospital where his mother works. He does not know whether they were fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the nationalist battalion "Azov" (banned in the Russian Federation). The military knocked down all the locks, dispersed the staff of the maternity hospital, and set up firing points in the building in order, as they explained to the doctors, to prepare the “fortress of Mariupol” for defense. The reaction of the military to objections is standard: blows with rifle butts, shooting into the air.

On March 7 (UTC-5) the permanent mission of the Russian Federation to the UN published a statement by its Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia had made at a UNSC briefing on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. The briefing had been scheduled for March 7 3:00 pm local time (March 7 20:00 UTC). (The statement was fetched by archive.org on March 8 at 2:12 UTC.)

The statement says among other things:

By our records, 200 thousand civilians are trapped in Mariupol alone and held at gunpoint by the Azov battalion. The humanitarian situation in cities deteriorates rapidly. As for humanitarians who are ready to help, they cannot get in there and prevent the unfolding disaster. People in other regions of Ukraine that have been blocked by nationalist battalions find themselves in the same desperate situation.

Ukrainian radicals show their true face more distinctly by the day. Locals reports that Ukraine’s Armed Forces kicked out personnel of natal hospital #1 of the city of Mariupol and set up a firing site within the facility. Besides, they fully destroyed one of the city’s kindergartens.

We have these records:

  • On March 7 some time after 20:00 UTC the maternity hospital #1 in Mariupol was mention at a UNSC meeting as being occupied by the Ukrainian military.
  • On March 7 21:01 UTC Lenta.ru published a report from a reporter in Donbas who had interviewed someone who said that the hospital was occupied by possibly Azov or other military forces.
  • On March 9 about 15:30 UTC the hospital gets bombed and completely destroyed but with astonishing few alleged casualties none of which are documented despite video records taken on the scene shortly after the incident.
  • Shortly thereafter President Zelensky uses the bombing to publicly press for a 'western' enforced 'no-fly zone' over Ukraine. (There is currently a Russian enforced no-fly zone over Ukraine.)

I leave it for readers to decide what really has happened here.

I don’t believe a word of it. CNN said so? Images of destroyed buildings? Russian professional and highly skilled army taking down hospital for the sake of pure fun. Are you serious?

Outdated analogy – hence wrong.
30 or 40 years ago, the economic disparity between the US/EU and the rest of the world was large enough to seem like parent and child.

I became aware of government manipulation of economic figures when they began during Reagan/Bush and informed all my students of that fact; so, it’s hard for me to answer that question. The biggie for me is GDP and its alleged continual growth, which I say is the BigLie perpetuated since the Dot-Com crash, that might even go back to the rise of Greenspan and instituted by him to carry off his Neoliberal bubble blowing. The current Real Inflation is far too hard to hide, so maybe this will be the time when the public calls BS to the government’s lies.

Re: Shadowstats
John Williams does good work, but people are overly reliant on it.
In particular: it is not completely true that hedonic adjustments are all bogus.
Another weakness of the 1970s era methods is that the US economy today is vastly different than in that period – thus weights of various categories is no longer representative.
So while I absolutely agree the “real” rate of inflation is underplayed by US Bureau of Labor Statistics data, it does not correspond that Shadowstats’ data is accurate.
What matters, though, is that inflation is high and rising – and average net inflation adjusted income for Americans has now been negative for 7 months in a row despite soaring wages.
Biden and the Democrats are staking everything on being able to blame Russia – but as I’ve shown via multiple links, the other side isn’t going to go along with this.
My personal view is that this gambit is not only going to fail – it is going to make an already nearly historic Red Wave in November into a tsunami.
31 Democrats have now announced retirement from the House of Representatives so far – exceeding the previous Democrat high during the “Contract For America” midterm election in 1994.
In Europe – b alluded to regime changes.
The upcoming French election will be interesting given Macron’s pre-invasion flailing.
Germany, Netherlands, UK are all not going to have an election soon AFAIK.

False flags will happen more and more to increase the pressure on Biden to agree to a USNATO no-fly zone. Such a foolish decision would represent the beginning of a catastrophic end for everyone.
So yesterday the hospital frame-up, and what’s next: a chemical attack? A day ago, the media were floating the suspicion that Russian forces are believed to be plotting a chemical attack on civilians. The Banderites will be only too happy to oblige, with Zelensky’s blessing, if this will finally drag USNATO into Ukraine. Prepare for false flag stagecraft.
Zelensky is talking out of two sides of his mouth as a stalling tactic to kill the momentum of Russian forces. He leaks promising compromises to the press, only to serve up crumbs at the negotiating table later, and lay waste everyone’s patience. Then, from the other side of his mouth, he libels Russia with crimes committed by thugs fighting under his banner; screaming: Stop Russian atrocities with a no-fly zone!
Zelensky prefers to sacrifice the Ukrainian people and even the world in his quest for greatness. He imagines he’s the reincarnation of Churchill.
Zelensky is nothing but a showman seeking applause, desperate for global recognition; a paid actor furthering failing U.S. sovereignty over a decaying vassal dominion. In stark contrast, Putin is the real deal; a strong, independent leader, a quiet but astute statesman who rebuilt Russia from the ruins of collapse and whose recent move into Ukraine is exposing the cracks and deficiencies of a bankrupt Empire. What a vindication this will be for Russia that rose from the ashes to witness the decline of the Empire that celebrated the fall of the Soviet Union! A staggering, calculated risk; a messy, necessary power struggle; a long-awaited correction all unravelling into a multi-polar era, and I can’t say this enough: believe. This is what we are witnessing.

Bernard, I hope this isn’t too long but I think it’s important:
MoD Russia, [10/03/2022 13:43]
🇷🇺 🇺🇦 ☣️ Briefing on the results of the analysis of documents (https://disk.yandex.ru/d/62hsNB8kC7MXPQ)related to the military biological activities of the United States on the territory of Ukraine
The Russian Defence Ministry continues to study materials on the implementation of military biological programs of the United States and its NATO allies on the territory of Ukraine.
The information received from various sources confirms the leading role of the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency in financing and conducting military biological research on the territory of Ukraine.
Details of the UP-4 project became known, which was implemented with the participation of laboratories in Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa and was designed for the period up to 2020.
Its purpose was to study the possibility of the spread of particularly dangerous infections through migrating birds, including highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza, the mortality rate of which reaches 50 percent for humans, as well as Newcastle disease.
Due to the fact that Ukraine has a unique geographical location where transcontinental migration routes intersect, 145 biological species were studied within the framework of this project. At the same time, at least two species of migratory birds were identified, whose routes pass mainly through the territory of Russia. At the same time, information about migration routes passing through the countries of Eastern Europe was summarized.
Of all the methods developed in the United States to destabilize the epidemiological situation, this is one of the most reckless and irresponsible, since it does not allow to control the further development of the situation. This is confirmed by the course of the pandemic of a new coronavirus infection, the occurrence and features of which raise many questions.
In addition, the R-781 project is interesting, where bats are considered as carriers of potential biological weapons agents.
Among the priorities identified are the study of bacterial and viral pathogens that can be transmitted from bats to humans: pathogens of plague, leptospirosis, brucellosis, as well as coronaviruses and filoviruses.
It is noteworthy that the research is carried out in close proximity to the borders of Russia – in the areas of the Black Sea coast and the Caucasus.
The project is being implemented with the involvement of not only Ukrainian, but also Georgian biological laboratories controlled by the Pentagon in cooperation with the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the US Geological Survey.
The analyzed materials on the UP-8 project, aimed at studying the Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever virus and hantaviruses in Ukraine, clearly refute the US public statement that only Ukrainian scientists work in the Pentagon biolabs in Ukraine without the intervention of American biologists. One of the documents confirms that all serious high-risk studies are conducted under the direct supervision of specialists from the United States.
The payroll of Ukrainian contractors clearly demonstrates how they are financed. It has been confirmed that the US Department of Defence paid the money for research participation directly, without the involvement of intermediaries. The extremely modest pay, by US standards, is noteworthy. This indicates a low estimation of the professionalism of Ukrainian specialists and the neglect of their American colleagues.
In addition, the studied materials contain proposals for the expansion of the US military-biological program in Ukraine. Thus, there was evidence of the continuation of completed biological projects UP-2, UP-9, UP-10, aimed at studying the pathogens of anthrax and African swine fever.
The Pentagon is also interested in insect vectors capable of spreading dangerous infectious diseases. The analysis of the obtained materials confirms the transfer of more than 140 containers with ectoparasites of bats – fleas and ticks from the biolab in Kharkov abroad.
MoD Russia, [10/03/2022 13:43]
Significantly, similar research was carried out in the 1940s on the development of biological weapons components by the Japanese unit 731, whose members later fled to the US to escape prosecution for war crimes.
I would like to remind you that representatives of Western countries are extremely cautious about handing over their biomaterials.
At the same time, available documents confirm numerous cases of transferring biological samples of Ukrainian citizens abroad. For example, 350 cryocontainers with blood serum samples were transferred from the Public Health Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to the reference laboratory for infectious diseases of the Australian Doherty Institute under the pretext of determining antibody titers.
Another example is the German-funded project No. 68727 EN on the study of Congo-Crimean haemorrhagic fever pathogens and hantaviruses. As part of this project, one thousand blood serum samples of citizens from different regions of Ukraine belonging exclusively to the Slavic ethnic group were donated to the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (Hamburg).
It is highly likely that one of the objectives of the US and its allies is to create bioagents capable of selectively targeting different ethnic populations.
During a hearing of the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on 8 March, Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland reported on the presence of bioweapons in Ukraine where biosecurity research had been conducted. She expressed concern about the possibility of these bio-laboratories and the materials there being taken over by the Russian Armed Forces.
According to available information, the Americans have already managed to evacuate most of the documentation, including databases, biomaterials and equipment from laboratories in Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa to the Lvov Research Institute of Epidemiology and Hygiene and the US Consulate in Lvov. The possibility of transferring part of the collection to Poland has not been excluded.
In fact, with her statement, Nuland indirectly confirmed the Pentagon’s military-biological program in Ukraine in circumvention of existing international agreements.

While I agree that the ridiculous cost of health care in the US is absolutely a net societal negative, it is incorrect to say it doesn’t benefit anyone.
Besides the CEOs and management in health related companies getting paid huge sums, there are also jobs:
1 out of every 1429 people in the US workforce is medical billing and coding

According to numbers from Bureau of Labor Statistics for Medical Records and Health Information Technicians where all these figures are provided, nationwide there are 182,370 employees working in this field, earning an average annual salary of $36,770.

Yes, crap jobs but still jobs.

“I said, correctly, that Putin would get no credit for his “war without civilian casualties,” and he hasn’t. No matter what Putin does, it will be painted black. By letting the war drag out, he is keeping the rabid Western propaganda machine in operation against Russia, while maximizing Russian casualties. Russia has lost the opportunity of a quick and decisive victory that would have stunned NATO and made its members wonder if enabling Washington’s provocations of Russia was a good idea.
What few seem to understand is that unless Washington’s provocations of Russia cease, eventually a red line will be crossed that results in nuclear war. It would have been a better outcome if Putin had gone on vacation and let Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Russia’s Chechen province, take charge of the war.”

Plugging the loopholes.
John Helmer addresses the rumours of Ms. Elvira Nabiullina’s resignation, Governor of the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) — not quite a resignation… but apparently, she has been ring-fenced.
Also, Helmer explains the new Foreign Investment Control Commission (CCFI) and the decrees to protect Russia’s financial stability and capital outflows. The head of CBR is not included in the CCFI.
A sampler: Tidying up the Oligarchs’ favourite channel for looting.
http://johnhelmer.net/chaos-kaput-or-capitulation-who-is-taking-control-of-russian-counter-sanctions/#more-47681

On March 1, Putin signed a fresh decree, No. 81, titled  “On additional temporary measures of an economic nature to ensure the financial stability of the Russian Federation.” This extended the ban over offshore transactions in foreign currency to loans, credits, transfer of shares, bonds and other securities, and the sale of real estate.   This has been the oligarchs’ channel for borrowing from US and European banks against the security of shares in their Russian companies to buy palatial homes, motor yachts, art collections, racing cars, football clubs, charitable endowments, and other self-promotions.
The new decree is not quite a ban, however. The measure has created a “special procedure” of state control on “the basis of permits issued by the Government Commission for the Control of Foreign Investment in the Russian Federation and, if necessary, containing conditions for the implementation (execution) of such transactions (operations)”. This commission has now replaced the Central Bank, which had been in charge of the Russian capital outflow until now. The commission can now stop the outflow of cash and capital; or it can look the other way as the Central Bank has done. (emphasis added).

The US orchestrated the slaughter of more than 100-200 Syrian civilians by ISIS in order to stage the false flag chemical attack that led to the joint missile attack by FUKUS in 2017.
The satanic neocons behind the former will have no compunction about doing the same to hundreds of civilians in Kharkiv or Mariupol or Kiev, probably with the help of Azov members or foreign mercenaries, if they think it will help push NATO into the war.
But the Pentagon is already saying that no US troops will enter conflict even if Russia uses non-conventional weapons. This means, again, that the Pentagon is aware of and trying to get ahead of an ongoing neocon attempt to force the issue by means of a false flag attack. My impression is that the Biden foreign policy team is in a state approaching civil war, with Biden really too inefficacious to decide the issue either way.

Just a comment here on Naked Capitalism. I was actually kicked out of there (not under this name) because I insisted on the term “Deep State” and so on. Lambert and Yves took exception to any “conspiracy theory” stuff because they did not want to alienate powerful people particularly in the Obama WH. I get it and I don’t think they were “wrong” they simply are what they are a polite left-wing (in the US sense) virtual salon with a very intelligent comentariat. That site is highly political–if they are taking the sort of stance they are taking it is significant meaning that there’s a segment of the power-elite (mainly Wall Street types) that are highly skeptical concerning the activities of the Deep State and act as a counterweight to the psychopathic wing of the National Security State so NC should be supported because we should always look for and welcome allies no matter their tribe.
As for the insane propaganda coming out of the propaganda organs they’ll get the majority of people to believe whatever they choose to make them believe for a very simple reason: people love order and part of order is to share a common view with others. So having a “national debate” is not possible about anything since, today, there’s only a very narrow Overton Window though I hope that Window gets shattered which is possible in the next few years.

Yes those fact-checkers list contain some decent sites but there’s a lot “chaff”. Still it’s far from complete since they wouldn’t want to give decent sources away either.
So censorship will only increase. South Front was cancelled and censored by the German web host. Presuming that MOA’s reach (hosted in the USA) is lower, the risk of it being censored is slightly lower. Still I’m wondering where everybody will re-emerge when it get’s censored too. Be it by the web host, ISP’s, the West’s digital iron curtain, … .

Many barflies here have commented/debated who’s winning or who’s losing in this conflict so far, purely from tactical combat perspectives or from economic one-upsmanship. In my opinion these are but small tug-of-war types of tallies laden with biased personal opinions. There are real wins and losses thus far in this event. The world is the BIG winner, the Empire is kaput!. This is the big picture reality I am relishing. How so? Here is my points of views:
1) This event exposed the Empire’s paper tiger essence. It’s all talk and no walk. paper tiger indeed!
2) This event shattered paper tiger’s so-called soft power. It issued rallies but no one came. It put on media spins but the world sees through the shenanigans. The puzzlement of the 100-room Mariupol hospital blowup false flag, exposed by b here, is being laughed at on many Asia publications too, and I suspect same in Latin Am., Africa, and even Europe. Goes to show “you can fool some people some of the time; you can’t fool ALL people ALL of the time”!!!
3) The highly touted high-tech weaponry that came from the Empire’s factories are paper tiger grade. The highly touted financial sanctions of the Empire proved to be just shills. In the future, when the Empire swings its stick, people would wonder which paper stick?
4) So far the event resulted in exposure of the covert cultivations of pandemic viruses in pentagon funded laboratories. The ones in Ukraine are found to be dallying with corona bats. These evidences will be revealed slowly and convincingly, beyond the Empire’s frantic efforts to bury them. Ole Trump talked of China having to cough up 6 trillion dollar for announcing the discovery of COVID, well, now that number should apply to the Empire for producing them. One problem though: used to be the Empire can just print them 6 trillions, but now whatever the Empire prints may just be looked upon as papers. How in the world is the Empire gonna come up with 6 trillion dollars???
5) By now it’s obvious the Empire has pissed off everybody, friends and foes alike. I kind of think the pissing contest is just beginning.

Chortle. “C’mon, Pals! Let’s you and him fight to the death.” Sovereignty, sanctity of borders, democracy, humanity, my ass!
The farcical hypocrisy of the serial war criminal Neocons driving this conflict, with theiar bloody hands and clichéd war propaganda, is frankly mind-blowing. The cognitive dissonance required to swallow their excrement would be excruciating for any rational, sincere person.
How could you even you parody such a parody? Elders like me may recall Cheech & Chong’s recording of a Japanese Admiral’s final briefing to conscript kamikaze pilots. “Questions?” — “Hai! Honorable admiral, sir! You outta you fucking mind!”

Today the Russian MoD denied carrying out any attack on the hospital and said it was staged.

The “air strike” that took place is a completely directed provocation to maintain the anti-Russian stir among the Western audience.
We have repeatedly stated earlier that the medical institutions of Mariupol, including Hospital No. 3, stopped their full-time work at the end of February. All staff and patients dispersed by the nationalists.
The hospital building, due to its favorable tactical location close to the city center, was re-equipped into a stronghold of the Azov National Battalion.
This is reported by residents of the city, who moved both to the areas controlled by Kiev and controlled by the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Photos of the hospital grounds contain evidence of two separate staged explosions near the hospital. An underground explosion and another of minor power, aimed at the hospital building.
The nature of the external and internal damage to the building can mislead non-professional audience of Europe and the United States. For whom this was made.
But not experts. Comparing to staged explosion of the Ukrainian Nazis, even less power high-explosive aviation bomb would destroy the outer walls of the building.

It’s not surprising that the US keeps throwing cold water on the idea. Given how Poland, Slovakia and Bulgaria already rejected the empire’s urging them to host the MiGs-for-Ukraine provocation.

Damn. If only regime-change in Belarus had worked out. It could have been transformed into a basket-case country like Ukraine — a useful pawn. Belarus, not-yet Nato, could reliably be induced to suicide its young pilots in such a vital defense of democracy. Curses, foiled again by that dastardly villain Vlad!

If NATO gets the wrong idea about Russian capabilities and especially Russian belly for the fight it’s likely to lead to far more massive deaths.
Indeed there’s already some minor breaking of the propaganda ranks among the imperialists because of the fear too many of the decision-makers may be coming to believe their own lies about this.

Let’s all get something straight here.
First:
Russia has near twice the land area of the United States, 6.6 million sq miles verses 3.5 million sq miles.
Russia has less than half the population of the United States.
They don’t need more area. They’re trying to figure out how to develop what they have!
Second:
There is a pro-American stain in Russian culture that goes back to Peter the Great. We both had the same enemy, The City of London. Russia posted ships off both of our coasts during the civil war to prevent an English-French invasion. A Russian edition of Alexander Hamilton’s 1791 Report on
the Usefulness of the Manufactories in Relation to Trade and Agriculture was published in St. Petersburg in 1807. In 1809, the young John Quincy Adams arrived as American Minister Plenipotentiary to Russia, where he had long talks with the tsar about the protection of neutral ship ping and how to limit British power on the high seas. When Count N.P. Rumyantsev, the Russian chancellor, was ousted from power in 1813 he told Adams, “I could say that my guts are American; and were it not for my age and infirmities, I would go now to that country. ”
Third:
In 2007 the Russian Government revived the 150-year-old proposal for a Bering Strait rail tunnel once again, with Putin even offering to pay 2/3 of the $65 billion estimated cost to construct the 100 km tunnel across the Bering Strait. The Lt Governor of Alaska attended a meeting in Russia concerning the idea. Of course, it hasn’t gone anywhere.
Here is the crying shame conclusion:
While I believe the global corporatist’s attempt at regime change in Russia via Ukraine will ultimately fail, their 150-year-old goal of preventing a USA-Russian economic alliance has been strengthened. Close your eyes and imagine such an alliance. It is mind boggling. That is why I always say, “ Putin doesn’t want to fight us, he wants to do business with us”! I believe Putin and his crew are of that strain.

That was supposedly said in an e-mail one individual hospital chief (female) sent to some inquiring foreigner, probably a Russian woman. It’s bad enough, but it wasn’t said in public.

RE the PCR video and crisis actors. Early in the thread it was proven that there are no crisis actors filming propoganda here.
This is old video from a protest that was dubbed. I am not even certain it was shown by any news outlet as I cant seem to find out the name of the station from the video clip PCR posted.
PCR is a fool who is right about some things, but mostly wrong. After reading his article and watching his video how many people are going to feel that they have been presented with actual proof of crisis actors?
How many are going to then look like fools themselves when they present this evidence and it is easily proven false?
Countering the other sides outlandish propaganda with your own outlandish propaganda is counter productive. It only leads to a situation where neither side can be trusted.
PCR is not someone to be associated with or paid much attention to, at least not if one wishes to maintain any kind of credibility among rational people.

According to this Daily Mail article:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10596473/Desperate-search-survivors-trapped-Mariupol-maternity-hospital-genocide-bomb-blast.html

“Many of the pregnant women present at the hospital were hiding the the basement at the time of the strike on the orders of hospital authorities”

But this raises a few questions: how come the heavily pregnant actress is photographed walking down a flight of stairs to safety (see article)?
Is it credible that she defied the orders of the hospital authorities and remained above the ground level? How come her injuries are so minor if she was above ground level?
Did the Daily Mail article use the qualifier

Many of the pregnant women”

to try to account for this discrepancy?

I get the sneaking suspicion that some head of state, in a misguided effort to appear to be the greatest virtue signaler of them all, is preparing something truly mindless and with fatal consequences for humankind.
Spurred on by tales of hospital bombings and summary executions of motorists, the cries of genocide will grow stronger until a collection of base, primitive minded government functionaries amass enough support to compel the attempted or successful implementation of SAMs within Ukraine’s borders resulting in some sort of mishap. A false flag chemical attack is also not off the table at this point.
Either way, I don’t see cooler heads prevailing here.

Escobar’s newest essay: “Cutting Through the Fog Masking ‘a New Page in the Art of War,’” where he opens:
“By now what we may call a Triple Threat has been established as the catalyst anticipating the launch of Operation Z.
“1.Ukraine developing nuclear weapons. Zelensky himself hinted at it in the Munich Security Conference.
“2.U.S. bioweapons labs in Ukraine. Confirmed, tersely, by none other than the Sinister Cookie Distributor neocon wife in the uber-neocon Kaganate of Nulands, who described them as ‘biological research facilities’.
“3.An imminent attack on Donbass with massive civilian deaths. It could have been in March, according to documents seized by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Or even in late February, according to SVR intelligence, which was monitoring the line of contact on a minute-by-minute basis. This is what eventually prompted Operation Z as a Russian version of R2P (‘Responsibility to Protect’).”
Pepe dives into the biolab issue, writing:
“The purpose of all this research – which included another Pentagon project to study the transfer of pathogens by wild birds migrating between Ukraine and Russia and other neighboring countries – was ‘to create a mechanism for the covert spread of deadly pathogens.'” [My Emphasis]
Well, quite frankly I’m not at all surprised at the additional evidence proving the Outlaw US Empire is Anti-Human. And yes, the world certainly will demand knowing what the truth is. Clearly, the Ukraine work predates Obama/Biden as proof exists that is started during Bush/Cheney, and that the former refused to shut the program down when asked by Ukraine to do so.
Wafting away the fog:
“Banderastan fanatics are the shock troops transforming Ukraine into a large Idlib – according to His Master’s Voice’s plan.
“Neo-Nazis are doing exactly what ISIS/Daesh did in Syria: hiding behind civilians taken as hostages. Azov are the white clones of ISIS/Daesh. After all they learned their tactics from the same masters.
“They will be bolstered by a fresh contingent of 450 fighters just arrived from – where else – Idlib, including lots of non-Syrians from Europe and the Maghreb. Most though are al-Qaedites and members of the Syrian branch of the Turkestan Islamic Party. Their transit point: the Syria-Turkish border, a smuggling free-for-all.”
Indeed, the Outlaw US Empire’s Terrorist Foreign Legion is on the march to substitute for NATO, although they’re allies. As I’ve seen from reading many Lavrov presser transcripts, particularly his latest I linked to yesterday, Pepe spells it out:
“It’s quite enlightening to juxtapose Lavrov with clueless NATOstan ‘analysts’, totally ignorant of Eurasia and pontificating about ‘a new ideological conflict between irredentist tyrannies and liberal democracies’. It’s about sovereignty, stupid – not ideology.”
Yes, but also no as I’ve written–we have the philosophy of Win-Win versus Zero-sum, which is certainly ideological. Pepe ought to say the “analysts” have it backwards as the “tyrannies” are the Outlaw US Empire/NATO/EU, not Russia/China. I’ve been banging away on that point but it’s not being made strongly enough. Pepe does make the following point that underlies the territorial adjustment I see coming:
“NATOstan of course is incapable of understanding the process of Nazification of Ukraine – the key theme of any serious political/cultural/sociological analysis. It’s not an accident that the list of nations supporting the neoNazi-infested collapsed government in Kiev happens to largely coincide with the list of nations that refused to vote in favor of the UN resolution condemning the rehabilitation of Nazism.
“In historical terms, these ‘analysts’ might learn something by reading Mikhail Bulgakov’s The White Guard. Bulgakov considered Ukraine as an avowedly reductionist version of ‘the steppe’: culturally barren, not capable of creating anything, destined to barbaric destruction. It’s important to remember that when Ukraine attempted to constitute itself as a state in 1918-1920, cultural and industrial centers such as Odessa, Kherson, Nikolaev, Kharkov, Luhansk had never been Ukrainian. And western Ukraine for a long while was part of Poland.” [My Emphasis]
Meanwhile on the economic side of the battle, we have this crucial obsevance:
“As Peter Koenig, a former senior economist at the World Bank points out, ‘Western GDP has a different basis, with blown out of proportion services, whereas the GDP of the SCO and the Global South is production-based. A huge difference when one looks at the backing of currencies: in the West there is literally none. Eastern currencies are mostly backed by national economies, especially in China and soon in Russia too. That leads to self-sufficiency, and no longer reliance on the West.'” [My Emphasis]
Pepe then goes on to comment on the sanctions also targeting BRI and revisits the issue of rail trade through Russia being denominated in dollars as I previously informed the bar. Fortunately, they’re many options, and Russia will suffer little as the main fallout will land on Europe–again.

Ahh…. “Americans” the least racist people in the world, unless it comes to Russians apparently Joe: This Is What Russians Do Because This Is All They’re Capable Of Doing.
Just remember, the reason the Americans are completely hysterical, panicked, hateful and confused is because Russia is losing, it absolutely is losing and in fact it is losing so badly that taking control of 40% of a puppet state the US has spent 100s of billions of dollars over 8yrs in only 2 weeks is proof of how weak they are. LOL, I guess Russia should have captured the whole country in a day.

One sick, shadenfraude-laced recreation for Russians last days is watching Moldova citizens ranting in social nets.
As Poland and other “real Europe” is not willing to all the Ukrainian refugees in – many moved in Moldova. And Moldova citizens suddenly start seeing Ukrainian behavior with their own eye, and they are shocked (like we were in 2014).
If anyone has a mood, here is one example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE37fVsjIUk
One has to turn subtitles on and then switch them to English auto-translaiton.
The jargon terms are lost, skipped or mistranslated, but the overall quality of fully automatic translation from voice is frighteningly good.
Nothing fancy, just a talking head for 20 minutes. So maybe just downloading translated subtitles nad readng them would be an ok substitute.

Some German hospitals made these stupid statements they won’t treat Russians or Belorussians anymore.
Shitstorms appeared and they had to dump their stupid idea.
I’m surprised, almost baffled, but sometimes there is sanity. Unfortunately, it seems to be unpredictable when it will pop up.

Southfront is inaccessible on my end (I live in the US). Solutions?

Posted by: joey_n | Mar 10 2022 22:08 utc | 187

The US has done much worse things in several countries, especially in Syria.
>On 3 October 2015, a United States Air Force AC-130U gunship attacked the Kunduz Trauma Centre operated by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF, or Doctors Without Borders) in the city of Kunduz, in the province of the same name in northern Afghanistan. 42 people were killed and over 30 were injured. Médecins Sans Frontières condemned the incident, calling it a deliberate breach of international humanitarian law and a war crime.
>The city of Raqqa was devastated by the U.S.-led airstrikes that accompanied the SDF’s four-month offensive to drive out the Islamic State, and a year later the city is still in ruins. The “so-called fight against ISIL” included the US military firing indirect fire weapons (artillery, rockets, mortars) into a civilian-occupied city. This included the Marines firing huge M777 howitzers. In five months they fired 35,000 artillery rounds into the city, burning out a gun barrel. Many of the victims are still buried there in the rubble caused by indiscriminate indirect fire.
>We never get accurate reporting of the effects of US aerial bombing of cities by the Air Force and Navy, but certainly they kill and injure many civilians.

Either way, I don’t see cooler heads prevailing here.

The cooler heads ARE prevailing, they are Ukrainian, Russian and Chechen.
They are flogging the azovorcs into a pulp.
The hysterics, further east and on various pacific islands, are hot in the head and cold in the heart. They are being educated in the art of civil behaviour.
The EU is going to prance about like King Julian of Madagascar fame inciting fear and loathing and presenting itself as the colonised ‘leadership’ scoundrels that they are.

“Re Paul Craig Roberts: to my mind PCR has been cheering for destructive war for years, it is no surprise to me that now he is complaining that Russia didn’t go in hard enough. He is obviously a war junkie and is too simple minded to understand what Russia is and has been doing.”

This news item comes from Reuters, so no fringe news mill. If you stay on facebook, you are condoning it and keep this beast alive. Calling for violence against based on nationalit, for nat matter against anyone, is criminal in Germany under § 111 German Criminal Code:
“Whoever publicly, in a meeting or by disseminating material (section 11 (3)) incites the commission of an unlawful act incurs the same penalty as an abettor.”
“If the incitement is unsuccessful, the penalty is imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or a fine. The penalty may not be more severe than if the incitement had been successful (subsection (1)); section 49 (1) no. 2 applies.”

The Americans and Brits want Europe to sanction itself out of energy. There will be lots more bombed hospitals and dead babies, perhaps some thing quite a bit nastier if the Europeans are obstinate. The yanks have been talking up bugs and chemicals for a false flag. Then there defiantly would be some dead Ukrainian’s. But you got to remember those polish Mig-29’s. Suddenly nobody wanted them. Nobody is going to try attacking Russian Forces in Ukraine or anywhere else. For the delusional Yanks and Brits, they think their only hope is to cut off Russia’s revenues and if they can just do that then Russia will quickly fall apart.

It turns out now that the woman in the maternal hospital photo that went viral was a model. A tweet about that by Russia’s UK embassy got censored by Twitter, so all I could find about it was an anti-Russian tweet that desperately tries to debunk the facts:

There was also that hour long attack on the Syrian military defending Deir Ezzor. I think at that stage Deir Ezzor had been cut off for well over two years. Americans, Australians and Danes – That’s where we become the ISIS airforce.

. . .from Tehran Times
Deafening silence for Yemen, loud outcry for Ukraine

As the global community turns to pay attention to the “blue eyes and blonde hairs” that are under the Russian attack in Ukraine, the European powers are leaving both Yemen and Ukraine stranded. However, there is a big difference. The Yemenis have been stranded for more than seven years, while the Ukrainians have been stranded for 14 days.
A United Nations report published in November had projected that the death toll from the Yemeni war would reach 377,000 by the end of 2021, including those killed as a result of indirect and direct causes.
In October 2021, the United Nations children’s agency said that at least 10,000 children have been killed or injured in Yemen in violence linked to years of war in the impoverished country. . .here

On the “hospital” and model, Sputnik has this:
“Ukrainian model and blogger Marianna Podgurskaya has been accused of participating in a staged photoshoot in a maternity hospital in Mariupol allegedly demolished by a Russian strike, drawing criticism from users on Instagram.
“Under a linked Instagram post, users have left over 1,500 comments in which they disputed that she was injured or was near the hospital which was closed to civilians and was used by Ukrainian militants from the right-wing extremist Azov battalion as a military base.
“The War on Fakes project, which tracks and debunks fake news related to the Ukrainian crisis, also shared materials on Telegram refuting that the Mariupol maternity hospital was hit by the Russian army.”
I’d say she’s busted!!
