The whataboutism talking about deeds and misdeeds of empire in no way justify Russia making demands on smaller neighboring nations. It is pretty simple.
Those smaller nations could easily have chosen to jump in with the Russians but the historic fact that is ignored here is that just a few short decades ago they all celebrated Soviet Russians going back to Russia. If NATO was threatening Poland saying “Join NATO or else!” then that would be something. But here Russia is upset because these countries of their own free will are choosing what they obviously think is the less worse option. Are they corrupt? No more than the Russia court, one assumes. They are all corrupt.
No one likes their country to be toady to a Great Power. And it has happened to all, including the current powers and pretenders, as historically nations make practical compromises.
Russians are upset they are not treated like a superpower and constantly wave weapons (or have Russian mouth pieces praising Russian weapons) in alt space but it is wearing very thin.

Protecting the Pandemic from the People: Perpetual Panic, Permanent Emergency
More at zero anthropology.

“First, what do we know about Omicron? Medical authorities in South Africa have already explained, and emphasized repeatedly, that the virus is following its normal course of evolution towards a strain that spreads easily and is far less lethal—indeed, its symptoms are very mild. Scientists elsewhere have concurred. In South Africa, Omicron has been accompanied by a reduction in hospitalizations, and deaths. Mild symptoms have been the worst of the Omicron experience there, and elsewhere. As of December 12, the WHO reported not a single death anywhere could be attributed to Omicron—after months of circulation in Africa. While fanning the flames of fear about overwhelmed hospitals in Canada and the US, in South Africa a published study found that persons with Omicron were 80% less likely to be hospitalized than if they caught another variant; compared to Delta infections, Omicron infections are associated with a 70% lower risk of severe disease. South African authorities are still wondering why Europe and North America are freaking out. (Answer: the freak out is calculated.)1”

And Perpetual Profit.
Its time to lock down the supremacist medical oppressors.

Thank you for linking to an interesting photo of Epstein, Weinstein and Prince Andrews daughter, Beatrice, at her wedding.
I notice Epstein is in US Navy SEAL uniform, complete with fake medals. In the British Commonwealth it is a criminal offence to wear a military uniform one is not entitled to wear. Fakes are usually arrested by MP’s for this.

Australia’s ABC has a Committee on Spoken English and produces a style guide for announcers. The German word STEIN [stone] should be pronounced correctly as stein as in German, not ‘STEEN.’ Leonard Bernstein’s agents wrote to the ABC and insisted on the correct pronunciation, which the ABC now uses for Bernstein but not for Epstein or Weinstein. It all depends on the position of the ‘E’ and the ‘I’.
Now English language broadcasters around the world use the corrupted ‘steen’ routinely. It grates on my ear. Perhaps some German speakers have some views on this?
I hope ‘Maxwell’spills the beans on the high profile honey trap creeps. I can see Prince Andrew, Alan Dershowitz, Trump and Clinton forming an interesting little chain gang.
I suspect Julian Assange too has some additional information to release should he be extradited.

Grieved and friends on mass formation:
I am rereading my earlier post from zeroanthropology.net and have enjoyed some thoughtful consideration of its contents. Here is a paragraph that gets to the nub of things. Mind you every paragraph is powerful.

What has (re)gained political capital in the course of this crisis is rule by state of emergency—a favourite tool of elected dictators since Adolf Hitler. It affords nearly absolute power to enact almost any fantasy. It is as desperate as it is ecstatic; worried and yet exuberant; awesome yet unsustainable. Rule by state of emergency today is not simply, as some may think, a reflection of a “public health threat”. There are many ways one can deal with a virus, and a state of emergency is not the most obvious one—in fact, all of the measures imposed under the “public health emergency” in Quebec are demonstrable failures. Emergency rule is instead evidence of the state’s lack of trust in the population, and the state’s willingness to blame the population for the spread of the virus (which makes as much sense as blaming the public for the flight of birds). Emergency rule is thus an antagonistic and belligerent position, a reflection of the state’s lack of confidence in its ability to convince and secure consensus. Emergency rule is an admission by the elites that they lack legitimacy. Thus the state and the dominant elites resort to psychological warfare, fear-mongering, behavioural manipulation, censorship, and threats. The aim is to reduce the population to a state of complete dependency on the state. The state thus appropriates a parental role in the name of “protection”. Rule under a “public health emergency” makes the state boss, doctor, father, priest, teacher, and babysitter, all in one. Conversely, the public is reduced to the status of wards, dependent on aid and tutoring, careful not to move without permission, and even then dressed according to the state’s dress code.

Russia and US have a phone chat according to China Daily

The first round of negotiations will take place in Geneva on Jan 9-10, 2022. They will later continue in Brussels within the framework of the NATO-Russia Council on Jan 12, and within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on Jan 13.
Biden in turn emphasized that Russia and the United States bear a special responsibility for ensuring stability in Europe and the world, and assured that Washington would not deploy offensive weapons in Ukraine.

Keep riding the old goat Vlad. Push him till he drops.
Then there is the continuous US aggression against Iran:

Iran’s top negotiator in the Vienna talks on the restoration of the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal said on Thursday that negotiations have made “good progress” in the removal of US sanctions over the past few days.
Ali Bagheri Kani, also Iran’s deputy foreign minister for political affairs, made the remark in an address to Iranian reporters ahead of a New Year break in the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the remaining parties to the deal, namely China, Russia, Britain, France plus Germany (P4+1), according to the Iranian foreign ministry.

The only thing Iran will get from Britain, France and Germany is BS piled higher and deeper. Clearly not one of those states have the slightest will or spine to go against the USAi belligerence toward Iran.

Interesting find on Sputnik:
reproduced before it is replaced by grovelling apology etc…

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been an ardent critic of US’ relations with Israel, calling the latter an “apartheid state” over its policies towards Palestinians.
Hussain Altamimi, associate of the New York congresswoman and Squad member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has called Israel a “racist European ethnostate,” according to social media posts.
Altamimi’s comments, who joined Ocasio-Cortez’ office as a legislative assistant, came in an Instagram story as he replied to a post from account “Let’s Talk Palestine,” which describe itself as “nonprofit organization.”
Its post talked about “the principle underpinning Israeli apartheid,” which is “not about where you’re born,” according to the publication.
“It’s about whether you’re Jewish or non-Jewish. Your ethnicity determines your rights [and] level in the racial hierarchy. Israel is an exclusive ethnostate, established to serve one ethnic group at the expense of another,” the post said.
Altamimi replied in a story last week, saying that “Israel is a racist European ethnostate built on stolen land from its indigenous population!”

The views you posts have been well discussed here I believe.
I myself tend to favor those same views as does much of the public. As you say, we do well to listen to opposing views, reasonably presented and give them due consideration.
In that light, I came accross the following which was interesting for its balanced position – basically statin8g OK, let us publish the data which supports our position.
https://nypost.com/2021/12/30/politicians-are-missing-greatest-advertisement-for-vaccines-tell-us-how-many-people-in-hospital-for-covid-didnt-get-jab/
I would have thought that it would be a primary function of cdc to collect and supply well supported and verifiable data. It appears I am mistaken and the approach is more like “We dont need to supply no stinking data.” Iven if the data would sopport thier actions, I think maybe providing is a precedent that they plan to evade.
– End of reasonable discussion –
It would almost seem that the intent is to create turmoil and discord. And (as my dad used to say): Never let facts get in the way of a good discussion.

A variety of views on the late Emeritus Archbishop Desmond Tutu, but why are we not surprised by the venom of the usual suspects, like Alan [lolita express] Dershowitz?
When Desmond Tutu stood up for the rights of Palestinians, he could not be ignored
After visits to Israel and Palestine, Tutu used his moral authority to speak out and, despite abuse, refused to back down. He wanted liberation for everyone.
Chris McGreal:
“Even amid the torrent of praise for the revered former archbishop Desmond Tutu in the days since his death, the anti-apartheid champion is not being universally mourned. Alan Dershowitz, the renowned US constitutional lawyer and ardent defender of Israel, took a moment to brand Tutu as “evil” and “the most influential antisemite of our time”.
“The world is mourning Bishop Tutu, who just died the other day. Can I remind the world that although he did some good things, a lot of good things on apartheid, the man was a rampant antisemite and bigot?” he told Fox News.

Syriana Analysis calls BS on the inability of Syria to defend itself from the two Israeli war crimes attacks against Latakia port last week. Kevork Almasian refutes the lame Russian statement that a Rus cargo plane was landing 30 kilometers away at the time of the attack and the S400 defence system could not be used.
https://www.syriana-analysis.com/watch-israel-strikes-latakia-port-again-where-is-russia/
Looks like it is time to clear out Idlib and relocate the strategic Rus base away from Syrian cities and thereby give the Israeli illegal occupiers zero cover. There are existing options for this relocation. A government MUST be able to defend its people and infrastructure and import goods and it looks p!ss weak for Russia to be offering an old transparent USSR style excuse here.

“Berlin is planning to completely wind down atomic energy by the end of 2022, when its final three plants in Neckarwestheim, Essenbach and Emsland shut.”
And without the proper levels of gas imports for electricity generation, how will German industry–and its economy–survive?

Perhaps by setting end of 2022 gives them time to warm their buts this winter and allow some time for the USA to be outfoxed on NS2. This could be achieved at the risk of getting colour revolutionised via the UKUSA embassies. Perhaps they are hoping the Uke pipeline can be salvaged and pumped to just below burst point. Also committing to an outer date keeps the Greens onside for now.
As I understand it the grand solar minimum will continue for some time yet. They might still need that gas but meantime they can just keep poking Russia in the eye, steal wealth from their citizens, and keep NS2 up their sleeve for critical times. I see their antics as a means of training Russia to accept spot pricing as the new normal. This may last a while but the new Siberia to China pipeline could neuter their game. Sanctions can cut two ways.

This article from July 2021 by James K Galbraith reviews three recent books and one older one which seriously question the neoclassical orthodoxy that is prevalent in modern economic analyses – much to the detriment of the public interest in my opinion. A recurring theme is how the study of economic thought was removed from academia in order to allow the current orthodoxy to predominate.

Many thanks for that link to the Zero Anthropology essay. It is supremely well written, a superb piece of journalism. And it makes the most important point, that contradictory narrative is no obstacle since the animating desire is only power, and control, and nothing to do with the medical health of the populace.
I enjoyed it immensely, and it contains such a vast body of decisive links that I can only wish I knew someone ripe for seeing the light of this World War III – which is not between nations but against populations, and mounted by the nation-free. Your link again:
Protecting the Pandemic from the People: Perpetual Panic, Permanent Emergency
~~
In the same vein exactly, but with far less words and with nicely concise formulations of the “mass-formation” effect (but not to minimize the first piece in any way with this comparison), Kit Knightly at off-guardian has summed up the entire dynamic in a well crafted piece:
The Covid narrative is insane and illogical…and maybe that’s no accident

We started with an Orwell quote, so let’s end with one too:
Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.”
Isn’t that what we’re seeing now? What we’ve been seeing since the beginning?
People being mind broken into being afraid of something they told isn’t frightening, following rules they are told are not necessary, taking “medicine” they are told does not work.
Maybe forcing people to believe your lies, even as you admit you are lying, is the purest expression of power.

It’s an excellent dissection of how the psychopathic mind must lie, even when the truth would serve better, because only with the lie can the control of others be proven to come from the liar, rather than from reality. And this is why the lie is the life blood of the insane and power-deranged.
Both pieces I highly, highly recommend – with great thanks to the originating posters here.

Below are quotes from ZH postings about Covid testing changes in the US

On Wednesday, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky defended the agency’s decision to eliminate PCR testing at the end of a Covid infection as part of its recommended guidelines, because the tests can ‘stay positive for up to 12 weeks.’
In other words, as Yossi Gestetner points out, “This means that for the past 21 months, people sat home for extra days and weeks because their test came back with an irrelevant positive.”
….
The FDA, however, which called the tests the “gold standard” in a July PolitiFact “healthcheck” – effectively rebutted Walensky’s comments, after spokesman Jim McKinney told Just The News that the agency stands by its assessment of PCR tests.
According to McKinney, the “high sensitivity and specificity” is exactly why the tests remain the “gold standard.”
The CDC’s acknowledgment is not new, McKinney said, pointing to the agency’s clarification of updated isolation guidance in August 2020, two weeks before the Times report on PCR tests.
While it said “people can continue to test positive for up to 3 months after diagnosis and not be infectious to others,” the CDC said that “does not imply a person is immune to reinfection” within three months. (A review of global databases last month found reinfections of the naturally immune were “rare” and “generally mild.”)
McKinney also noted the FDA told the Times that “commercial manufacturers and laboratories set their own” CT levels. -JTN
So the FDA knew all along that people have been missing work and avoiding life because they’re testing positive long after they’re infectious?

I know Wikipedia is unreliable but I could find very little on PM Bob Hawke’s proposal for what he called The Australia Card in 1985. There was a public uproar until it was dropped:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_Card
Since then successive governments have introduced versions of it by increment and stealth, like tax file number, Medicare number etc. Now my phone gadget wants facial recognition and yet another number. My computer wants a fingerprint. WorldRemit, an overseas money transfer company, wants a facial ‘selfie’, passport, drivers license and masses extra of personal data for their databases. They blame the government.
The various Electoral Commissions in Australia can decide where THEY think you actually live, based on data sharing between various government departments and agencies. If you failed to vote in THAT electorate they can fine you. Then they can cancel you car registration and Insurance AND drivers licence at will. So the unsuspecting motorist can be driving down the road and be fined big money by police for various driving ‘offences.’ No explanation given.
In our system of law, if someone suspects I am ‘money laundering’ or ‘financing terrorism’ they can report their suspicions to police. Now they freeze your bank account with an ‘artificial intelligence’ bot. No explanation given. I am required to prove my innocence in advance. This digital slavery involves ‘predictive policing’ and Big Tech are accomplices. Western Union wanted more personal information than I was prepared to give out.
Where would they get an idea like that for their Great Reset command and control system all rolled into the long planned Universal Digital Wallet ?
The Mark of the Beast:
Revelation 13:16-17
And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.
Obey their moving feast of rules and regulations or else you can’t do everyday transactions, eg have yet another jab. Comply with their shifting sands of diktats wherever you are in the world.

One of the maddening things that comes to mind through the two reports cited is the hypocrisy. Faced with a challenging virus, so many western governments exercised prohibition on the very substances that could assist many people be that the medications such as ivermectin etc or the vaccines that might compete with big pharma. Instead of enabling research and comparison to discover best practice and inform the future, they chose to sacrifice public health on the bloodstone altar of greed.
What is more maddening is these same ideologues daily attack homeopathy and Bach Flower Remedies and herbal extracts and so on. They accuse the homeopaths of recommending materials that ‘cannot work’. Yet they do no harm by the same logic. Biodistribution studies of the mRNA vax indicate serious cause to withdraw them from human use. Perhaps they could be of use in mink farms where procreation is not a big issue for the vaxed.
There is a case to answer here, not just dishonesty, but the voodoo logic of prohibition is an affront and became an assault on free choice and the precautionary in my country. The fools, the mendacious, ignorant fools of authority.

This thread is pretty much dead, but i just wanted to riposte @Piotr Berman | 76:
Philosophy coursework in the Anglosphere is generally aiming at a career in law or Acadaemia.
I’m surprised that Engineers are even required to take logic courses, since advanced mathematics is essentially the avant garde branch of developmental logic. To study math is to study logic–just, without all the words, grammatical relationships, and syntax that symbolic logic entails.
So of course, yes: community colleges in the US do provide Intro to Logic courses, where symbolic logic is applied to rhetorical ends. It’s one of the first steps towards becoming a lawyer, and a good many students who enter community colleges do so because of a desire to practice law.

Syria should be made center of muslim nation – palestians and friends should move there. They are fighting over dirt, they are being strung along.

Firstly Syria is a secular state with many religions and even atheists. Why should Syria or any other ME nation make way for the illegal occupier? Palestinians are fighting for existence in their own land and it is the illegal occupier that is stealing their dirt, water and culture. Why should one step aside for the invader?
You are clearly strung along so far that you cannot see that Israel is stealing land and water resources from all surrounding states that it can get away with. Its permanent state of belligerent war making is a feature. In a similar way the USA is doing the very same thing. So if we are seeking to co-locate people with similar ethical, religious and territorial respects, then can I suggest Israel should be moved to Nevada? perhaps Utah?

Posted by: uncle tungsten | Jan 2 2022 2:25 utc | 172

USA perhaps this could be a component of the way forward.

China’s social credit system was initially aimed at big firms: imagine something like a ‘better business bureau’ and consumer reporting that actually had teeth. China’s system did not place profitability as the only determining factor for credit worthiness, and given its scale and anonymity, required a numerated system. Imagine if Pfizer, for example, had reduced access to capital because of its criminal activity. That’s exactly the sort of thing that has come about in the Chinese system, one of the few countries that is prone to execute a billionaire oligarch on occasion.

Strategic Culture carries a fine report by Joaquin Flores: Educated in the field of IR and IPE at California State University Los Angeles; previously served as a business agent and organizer for the SEIU labor union; has published internationally on subjects of geopolitics, war, and diplomacy; serves as the director of the Belgrade-based Center for Syncretic Studies, and is Chief Editor at Fort Russ News.
He writes well.

This same deep state is trying to springboard or otherwise utilize the incessantly bad behaviour of its own rapacious oligarchy, who it must serve, an oligarchy trapped in a system of capital accumulation at all and any costs, even collective suicide, into some sort of controlled paradigm collapse. The incentive to destroy society is just too great compared to the costs of keeping it together. The super elites themselves, like some super virus, can always just vacate the premises and find some other host to infect. This is a pandemic of speculation, usury, and greed.
An interesting twist which Senator Rand Paul exposed in public hearings on the senate floor, was that the novel Corona virus was produced at Dr. Anthony Fauci’s discretion. This was a project of the U.S. corporate state, of a corrupted U.S. intelligence agency, we conclude from Senator Paul’s findings.

Unfortunately for the people of the USA their forthcoming mid-term elections are presented as a choice between the demonstrated deplorables in the Republican party and the disgusting parasitic Democrats in their mendacious machine. No wonder they both opposed Ivermectin for the people.
These two political parasites have a strangle hold on the guts of the USA and any revolutionary change needs to be up and running THIS month to establish momentum and sufficient chaos to smash the duopoly. No sign of it yet.

This ‘Jared’ is pushing an old zionist line vis: “Palestinians ‘should’ relocate to other countries”. That desire leaves Palestine depopulated for the zionists to further plunder and expand. Some pretext can and has always be found.
Prior to WW1 Palestine was known as South Syria with many religious traditions, historically living in peace and harmony for centuries. That ended when the zionists imposed themselves and showed their ugly supremacist ideology.
Syria is a secular state today. ‘Jared’ and his ilk would like to divide the world into theocratic states. Perhaps the Khazar alien invaders ‘should’ go back to eastern Europe or the Turkic Caucasus where they come from and leave the Middle East to enjoy peace and prosperity. Forgive me if you’re being tongue in cheek and I didn’t see that, but taking you at face value, exactly what you report is exactly the answer to the question. It’s already happening. The yuan is going global. But Rome wasn’t built in a day.
The further answer to your specific question is “February” – at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. Russia gives the US through January to provide some decent agreement, and then Putin meets with Xi on Feb 4…and thereafter these two countries in concert will begin to announce their positions in the new (multipolar) world order.
The global Yuan may well be a serious part of it – not just my claim, plenty of commentators suggest this.
Time will tell. Patience is all.
~~
@175 psychohistorian
Yes, agreed. Why now? Because now is the perfect time. It happens that the enemy can be delivered a serious blow, with no way to respond, such is the paralysis of his current confusion.
Add to all that, the domestic shit storm that is about to arise as people realize that Omicron means the pandemic is over, and countless power-hungry little pricks in the establishment haven’t realized this yet. They will have to be slapped down, to turn OFF the oppression that they found so easy to turn ON.
Of course, they won’t give up readily, but they were only ever punks – given a magic wand called “medical emergency” – and in 2022, I do believe, they have a slapping coming.
~~

Your point well taken about the duopoly – but we shall see what people have learned on their own in the last two years. Sometimes – oftentimes – the universe does surprise us.
Anyway, I’m glad you didn’t send out your claim for a movement to start “THIS” month a couple of days ago. As it is, we have a good 30 days to get this thing rolling.
And the universe may surprise us. I’m an optimist. I can’t help it – the joyous news of Omicron finishing the pandemic buoys me up. Now everything is possible!

Agreed but it is winter in the middle east as well so perhaps a rolling series of liberation struggles. It will be good to see the Iraqis contribute a blow of revenge for January 3rd. A sweep to the east in Syria would be helpful to restore oil and wheat to the people of Syria. That is a mighty difficult situation for the USA to defend as it is an illegal occupier blatantly stealing Syrian resources and crippling the state. Does not go down well at the UN I feel.
Several moves on a rolling or even simultaneous basis would see the world having to listen to the preaching of the dumbest Doge in history as thieving Joe Biden tries to justify the mighty authority of the USA by stringing a pronoun or two together.
It would at least turn the focus away from the undeserving Ukranian losers and the dumbest German government in decades. At this rate the Poles will get a peace price for exceptional intellectual endeavor, nominated by Latvia.

It could be that the detection and interception of subs can only be coordinated by signals relayed to underwater drones by Chinese satellites. Similar to how UAVs are tied to their builder nation’s signal intelligence.
Same as Ukraine’s Bayraktar TB2 flying over Donbass needs Turkish relay satellites.
