So many problems all at once. Posted by: Mar man | Apr 15 2021 14:27 utc | 1 Interested to see how Russia responds to latest round of US sanctions for all of Putin’s trespasses/transgressions (cough-cough). One hopes the response is a hard-slap rather than a turning of the cheek. But because Russia’s crimes are created out of whole cloth, like a fiat currency, and nothing but chum for a dumbed-downed American constituency, perhaps Russia will ignore the latest sanctions, and concentrate on the real-world battlefield, and not the ususal American refuge into symbolism and platitudes. Posted by: Mina | Apr 15 2021 15:00 utc | 3 Frankly I’m beginning to wonder if the US knows what it is even doing? They say one thing, you know, calling for talks with Putin, but then turn around and slap sanctions on Russia. It’s confusing to follow. An inverted “Russia-gate” hoax. Posted by: Sunny Runny Burger | Apr 15 2021 15:33 utc | 7 Reuters is going to be behind a paywall soon. Yes, that seems like the ultimate way to drive a wedge between the US regime and Europe, and make a cut into the main artery of US hegemony. Posted by: Norwegian | Apr 15 2021 17:26 utc | 29 Step by step getting tighter, there is a note for Germany as well who does not let go the Navalny fable, the sanctions will include the EU and the eyes so it is another push to the East for Russia. The closure of Kerch plus no cruise into the Black Sea for the two US vessels probably has a lot to do with the phone call that Joe rang to Vlad. Shoigu had a brief note today, before meeting with his staff. Posted by: Paco | Apr 15 2021 17:28 utc | 30 Apparently Russia anounced plans today to close the Kerch Strait “for live-fire naval drills” effective from 18th April until 1st October 2021. Posted by: Hoarsewhisperer | Apr 15 2021 18:00 utc | 36 Does the empire’s war in Ukraine go kinetic tonight? Biden doesn’t leave his coffin in the basement too often, and “special addresses” are even rarer. This sounds like the empire has already pulled the trigger. Considering the American public’s attention span you don’t make an announcement of war several days before you expect the festivities to commence. 18:31 GMT 15.04.2021 (updated 18:35 GMT 15.04.2021) Get short URL 209 Subscribe MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Three employees of the Russian Embassy in Poland were declared personae non-gratae, the Polish Foreign Ministry said. “On April 15, 2021, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Poland was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. A diplomatic note was handed to the Ambassador informing about the recognition of the three staff members of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Warsaw as personae non-gratae. The basis for this decision was the violation of diplomatic status and carrying out activities to the detriment of the Republic of Poland by the indicated persons,” the statement says. This comes amid a new package of US sanctions against Russia in what Washington says is a response to the alleged Russian meddling in the 2020 elections in the US and hacking attacks, including the SolarWinds incident. The combination of sanctions and bullshit diplomatic expulsions suggests no kinetic escalation involving NATO, likely no hot war in DPR/LPR. Just bluff and continuation of the neverending media demonisation campaign. I am more than sick and tired of the incessant, unnecessary and counterproductive bear baiting. We all know what they are doing in the background: the “war on terror” is a bust. It never could make up for the extremely lucrative and useful Cold War with the old Soviet Union so they have been embarked on trying to create a completely avoidable and stupid Cold War 2.0 with Russia. Re ecuador – I read, and am still looking for the source, that what tipped the vote in Lasso’s favor (in the first round he had only 19.74% vs 32.7% for Arauz) was the actions of the so called indigenous candidate, Perez. This Perez made a deal with Lasso and instructed his followers to vote “null” (which is an option in ecuador) Although it would seem logical for the indigenous peoples to vote for Arauz, they followed their leader, resulting in a “null” vote of over 16%. Lasso’s margin of victory, one notes, is 5%. It will be “interesting” to see how this plays out. Not so good for the majority in ecuador, one thinks, and likely quite bad for the amazing naturaleza.
