The New Yellow Peril - Causes And Effects
The New York Times reports of a mass murdering of Asian people near Atlanta. Its front page summary says: "The motive for the killings was unclear."

However, the suspect, one Robert Aaron Long, does not leave much doubt about his motive.

One wonders how that "unclear motive" got planted into the dude's mind.

Yes, the NYT engages in anti-Chinese rhetoric, but do you think this little dipstick ever has perused that rag?
OTOH Trump has been saying 'China virus' for most of a year. Who do you think this boy was inspired by?
We know you got you some 'Trump love' but this post is disingenuous beyond the pall.
It's a big leap to make. Believing the Chinese government is evil (and covered up Covid-19) does not really lead into killing random Asians. China is an authoritarian state and its government is evil, I am confident that nearly everyone has this view. It does not inspire many to kill random Asians.

I guess it's going to be an offense punishable by scorn, ostracization, shame and ridicule if you even wonder out loud about China's role in COVID-19's origins.
Because to do so obviously implies one wants to kill all manicurists and Good Luck Restaurant employees.

This was very predictable. Both parties played the race card heavily before the election, racism is back in people's minds, blaming others for their race is commonly acceptable again. Republicans blamed China for the virus, Democrats blamed Whites and Asians for just about anything; so Asians are the common denominator.
There are enough desperate and trigger-happy lunatics around to act it out. Qui Bono? Looks like the kind of stuff the Democrats needed to ram their gun control legislation through the senate. A false flag of this kind was also predicted. I wouldn't put it past the Deep State.

Do not agree. It does inspire some people to kill random jews, sometimes, over Israel. And it ometimes leads to killing of random muslims as well, over "Islam is the biggest enemy" claims. Sometimes ordinary westerners too get targeted in terror acts over western wars in the Middle East. So i think its possible. In specific cases.

People run amok and kill others, and give reasons or not.
The other story of a multiple murder today in NYT is more twisted. A 25-year old first visits his girlfriend and tries to get a part of her COVID relief check. Seems that she was reluctant, so he took their several months old daughter and left her with several gunshot wounds. Then he visited in some order his sister where he dropped his daughter and a house where he shot dead all four people inside. Lastly he invited himself to the attic of a friend, and there he surrendered to police.

Blank characters, empty characters, invisible characters and whitespace characters. they appear sort of a space, but are actually a special (unicode) character. they will be used if you would like to represent an blank or empty space without using space. for instance you would like to use an empty value during a website or application, but spaces aren't accepted. For this example you'll use one among the characters on this site. for instance, sending an empty message, or setting a form value to blank. If the appliance filters out other unicode characters then the characters on this site won't work.

"China is an authoritarian state and its government is evil, I am confident that nearly everyone has this view."
Perhaps 'nearly everyone' in the USA... which is exactly the point made by MoA.
Let us break down your statement a little further. I am no China fan btw, but even less of a fan of BS.
So, as far as 'evil' claims, how do the US and European post colonial states actually compare on some objective figures post WW2, for example, body count in foreign wars of aggression, by any measure the ultimate sign of 'evil' (also by the legal precedent of the Nuremberg trials, where the crime of UNPROVOKED AGGRESSION was ruled as the most egregious by law), plus sales and use of chemical weapons, or sponsorship of terrorism for geopolitical aims, we can go on... i doubt anyone could objectively make any moral argument defending the West vs China.
But let us focus on domestic 'evil'. The USA, despite having less than 1/4 of China's population, has more people in jail, and its own people are more neglected, from healthcare, drug addiction to most measurable levels of happiness in the population. I would argue Americans 'choice' is just an illusion, as is their freedom of speech, since their brains are heavily conditioned and devoid of free thought, thus negating the need for more draconian measures of repression, as, one must admit, do occur in China.
But for all these authoritarianism claims, perhaps someone can explain to me how having the choice of 2 parties, versus 1, is somehow an indicator of better representation of the people, when in terms of policies, it is evident that the population has no agency and the system of US governance is designed to cater to a privileged clique of oligarchs and upper middle class. I would argue China's unelected ruling elite have all least managed to deliver a better life for their citizens. Furthermore, not having to focus on 2 year election cycles has allowed them to better place their country with long term strategic goals in mind, another indirect benefit for the population.

blindpig@5 is correct, the OP is disingenuous beyond the pale. (The "pale" being loosely used as a boundary between civilized and barbarian/otherwise unsuitable for full human status.)
doubter@7 is correct that most people believe China is evil. (I believe it's because most people think Communist Party=evil, something they don't think about anyone who *doesn't* openly wear a swastika, though a few are narrowminded enough to object to white sheets with eyeholes too.) It's not clear whether doubter is agreeing with this view or simply describing what doubter sees as a simple fact about the current state of opinion in the public at large. Close reading of course is beyond Wiliam Gruff@10, so naturally this prompts some personal abuse and a blanket condemnation of humanity in general. The inadvertent humor comes from William Gruff being the brain-washed denizen of a bubble, the MoA commentariat.
doubter of course is preposterous in denying that lies from tin god Trump couldn't possibly have anything to do with prompting an assault.
Motives for real people are always mixed in my experience, with so few exceptions as to call into question the sanity or honesty of someone who insists on purity of motive. So sexual issues or other emotional problems may well be involved...so what?
So much of the commentary here is an embarrassment to the OP, who should be dismayed about the kind of audience the OP's program keeps attracting.

I have Chinese friends as well, and they are among the most considerate and nice people I know. Even if we have different views on some facts (as I consider them to be), we have a rational discussion about it and are able to deal with that. I don't judge people based on their nationality or anything else than their personal behaviour.
As for the story in this article, we can simply observe that the "daily shooter" is back now that Biden is installed. It sounds convenient to stir up hatred towards groups and create another distraction from the policies of the US regime.

Plenty of bitter Americans out there who realise their Empire of Death is circling the drain. Add into that the fact that the US has always been a land of racists and gun nuts and you can expect more of this as China overtakes them.
Posted by: Gonzolegend | Mar 17 2021 14:56 utc | 27
The NY Times' importance as a keystone of the propaganda system is undeniable, as is the bi-partisan nature of the anti-PRC campaign which, predictably and designedly, has revived anti-Asian racism in its North American epicentre.
As to the role of China in the virus' spread, the view being advanced by the racists and encouraged by the Times is the reverse of the truth. The problem that we now face is one in which the virus has been encouraged to run uncontrolled to the extent that new variants are developing around the world. Already some of these variants, eg the Kent B117 variant, are spreading more quickly and proving more deadly. There is a real fear that a very nasty virus, (perhaps midwifed by idiotic vaccine policies postponing boosters in order to impress more voters), is going to arrive and kill millions more.
China did the sensible thing in trying to eradicate Covid, the "west" -fascinated by suicidal urges- decided to put the interests of capitalists first. This has been a marvellous year for the funeral business and on line retail. And next year is being viewed as a chance for Big Pharma to cash in on those patents it has on the world wide research efforts to produce vaccines.

It is the US MSM that ignores the fact that it was the US doing coronavirus enhancement research at Wuhan. In fact, it was Fauci’s NAIAD that sponsored the research there, because no US lab would permit such risks. The following is a NewsWeek article on this from 4/28/2020:
So if the Wuhan outbreak was due to a lab leak (hypothesis not favored by WHO) it was due to the US. The racism is in the MSM propaganda, deliberately inciting the random ignorant tribalist in the deep south.

Nobody seems interested in taking into account the long series (20 years!) of peer-reviewed monographs celebrating the gain-of-function exploits by United States researchers working under the auspices of Anthony Fauci and, by virtue of the grants that his National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases has given to them, the Eco-Health Alliance in New York, run by Peter Daszak.
This peer-reviewed literature ascertains that the researchers managed to insert into coronaviruses the exact block of nucleotides that turned up in the SARS-CoV-2 genome published on 12 January 2020, including three from the HIV (which causes AIDS).
Another missed point is the article in The Washington Post last spring obviously intended to vilify China by explaining that when officials from the United States embassy in Beijing visited the Wuahn Institute of Virology, employees there recounted lapses in the lab's security.
However, the Wuhan lab is a level four lab (BS-2), designed, built and run to experiment with the most mortal pathogens possible. Such labs are STRICTLY MILITARY and top secret (e.g. Fort Detrick).
If United States officials were allowed in, that was because it is a PRIVATE lab, run under the auspices of Peter Daszak's Eco-Health Alliance and still (notwithstanding declarations from the Trump regime after the publication of The Washington Post's article) receiving United States government funding.
This leads to the conclusion that the Chinese authorities were lied to regarding the work at the lab, for it is inconceivable that they would have allowed such dangerous work on Chinese territory to be carried on under management linked to foreign (in this case enemy) intelligence services.
This work was banned in the United States by the Obama regime after the 2014 ebola outbreak, at which point Fauci and Daszak took it to Wuhan. At the time, there was a major outcry in the scientific community against gain-of-function research which, it was repeatedly declared, was of negligible scientific value but of terrifying danger.
When Trump & C° acceded to the top of the pyramid, the ban was lifted and the nerve center of the work came back to the United States, centered on Fort Detrick.
Peter Daszak was the lead man in the WHO team sent to China recently, handling the interviews (hence the PR).

This post concerning China's role in the epidemic, I would observe that they were transparent from the outset in how they were investigating the cause, shutting down an entire area to prevent further expansion, which other countries did not do, and publishing their ongoing investigation and suggestions for remedies.
I would like to take the opportunity to further thank our correspondent lu lu, for addressing issues about the virus and other concerns in a previous thread. It was helpful to me, a senior, to learn that unlike other countries China does not find it good practice to give vaccinations to seniors because of their increased succeptibility to the virus.
I also thank those who contributed to the previous thread b issued on the dissemination practices of western countries with respect to the vaccinations that are on offer. We should continue to monitor the subject, given that there are so many alternatives now on offer. This affects all of us.
It cannot hurt to listen to all voices raised publicly on the subject, much as we try to do here. I appreciate in particular suzan who raised issues with one of the subjects that was a part of that discussion. That was what I was hoping to see more of, not the disparagement of those persons raising problematic issues. The latter course of action rather raises questions about attempts to bury the issue than resolves it.
I don't think we have all the answers yet, but in time by continuing to watch what is happening around us, we will.
Thanks to b. I think his post here raises the importance of getting to the truth of all aspects of the pandemic out into the general public. China is not at fault here; our western propaganda is.

That's irrelevant, because, according to alt-right theory, races are not confined to nation-state borders.
Most of the race theory papers you read will glue all the Asians (except, curiously, the Japanese - why would that be...) as one single race, generally called Mongoloid or something like that.
Very similar to the post-9/11 environment in the US. Media attitudes of hostility to people from the middle east and Muslims in general ranged from dog-whistle level to open kill'em-and-let-God-sort'em-out.

Timely catch, b. I was just at WaPo, where they're tilting into eliminating his "sex addiction":
“He made indicators that he has some issues, potentially sexual addiction, and may have frequented some of these places in the past,” Sheriff’s Capt. Jay Baker said at a news conference. “We still have a lot of things to process.”Baker later added that in their interview with Long, 21, the suspect indicated that the spas were “a temptation” for him. “It’s a temptation for him that he wanted to eliminate,” Baker told reporters. “It’s still early on, but those were comments that he made.”

It isn't necessary to have one currency replace the dollar if many alternatives can do the same. Smart contracts, currency swaps and national cryptocurrencies can end US soft power - and eventually, defund US military power too.

“I am sure everyone has this view"
Classic American speak I am right you are wrong! Coming from someone who has never been outside the US is my guess. I lived in China and have been their going back to the 1980s when their were no cars on the roads just bikes. Riding on a plane with various farm animals and no seats to Urumqi where camels had to be removed from the road way: and on to Kashgar. Our expedition included a cia troll already to cause misery for the Chinese. The Chinese are amazing people, not easy to get to know because of very tight family social units and of course most Americans do not bother to learn languages. I did try and could get around but I have a really difficult time with the tones. When people talk about China being a dictatorship I just have to laugh because it is the height of American ignorance to say this. The only people that would ever say this are people who have never been there or who are trained by the pentagon to use this term. China’s political system is much more democratic then our own corrupt pentagon run system. Starting from the village to the neighborhood. The country has sky rocketed to modernization from my first car less visit. People have healthcare, great education, housing and the eradication of poverty, can you even imagine any of our last 10 presidents saying this!
So when the NYT FOX CNN WP continually accuse China of Ab and C is it so surprising that violent crime against Asian. Happens? What did we see after 9-11? How do we already treat African Americans Native Americans? Why does it surprise anyone that he would pick an easy target? Women? I always find is amusing when people use the word communist to try and make capitalist sound better!

A warning to China from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday (March 16) - as he cautioned it against using "coercion and aggression".Blinken and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are in Japan's capital Tokyo for their first trip overseas as top members of President Joe Biden's cabinet - in a bid to strengthen ties between the two powers,
Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed this week that he and the White House national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, would meet China’s most senior foreign policy official, Yang Jiechi, and Chinese State Councillor Wang Yi on Thursday in Anchorage. It will be the first in-person meeting between the countries of the Biden administration.
If I were Wang Yi, I would be inclined to say to Blinken: "You think that we are bullying Australia and that is bad. Countries ought not to do that sort of thing. Right?"
Blinken could hardly not say: "Yes!"
"So then, I have a bargain to propose to you - You stop bullying Venezuela and we will remove the tariffs on Australian barley and wine. Remove your illegal sanctions on Iran and we will start buying Australian coal again. Remove your illegal troops from Syria and all the illegal sanctions on them and we will start buying coal from Australia again. Fair enough?"

This shit has been wafting around the Land of The Spree and the home of The Knave since I was old enough to be taught to run to the basement when I saw the first mushroom cloud rising,'bout the time the Chinese hordes ran our ass back down below the 38th parallel. The only question worth pondering here is what nefarious political forces are at play and exactly who The Manchurian Candidate is. Might be YOU, Bunky. Blow up your TV before it's too late.

I have already written about this. MSM, primarily Western MSM, are responsible for what is happening (I can’t even say 'indirect responsibility', it’s largely about direct responsibility). Whether it be the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, or the current assassination of a group of Asians.
These are direct consequences of wild propaganda, a campaign of lies and slander unleashed by Western (primarily American) elites - political, journalistic, etc. You make up lies to "fight" your opponents, spread these lies in the media, supplying with bizarre details and speculation. Keep this "agenda" for the required period. At this time, society is pumped up with hatred for your chosen enemy (China, Russia, Iran, etc.). As a result, some individuals are blown away and they commit irreparable - terrorist attack, murder, assault, etc. This is their reaction to what they see on TV and read in the newspapers.
The NYT is undoubtedly to blame for this tragedy, as are many other Western propaganda tools called "newspapers" or "news resources". It is high time for the society to raise the issue of criminal responsibility of the journalistic community for the consequences of their "news".
You can rest assured that we will see more similar cases of murders or attacks. And the reason will be the same - propaganda in the Western MSM.
There are parts of this that don't pass the smell test for me
Why does a kid with sex addiction problems shoot up semi-random folks (yeah, maybe linked to his sex addiction but not Chinese and even one white) and tell the world that the Chinese are evil?
I would also like to note that those playing this as left/right have not been paying attention. We live in a top/bottom world and it seems you have drunk the koolaid of obfuscation of that fact.

Is it not true that on average over the last few years there has been one "Mass shooting" per day?
This hasn't been true since schools - American factories of discontent and malaise - were shut down during the pandemic.
Now that schools, the psychic misery factories that they are, are open again, expect the trend to continue. Now that things are "back to normal," the average cortisol concentration in the human body is probably increasing. I know I was well-rested during my furlough at the onset of the pandemic, and got angrier and more stressed when I was called back to work.
So, in a way, this does signify the return of "normal" American life: overly stressed, psychologically burdened individuals adrift and separated from the rest of society, lashing out in the most irrational ways.

The building blocks of a conspiracy theory.
1. U.S. admits that COVID-19 is a bio-weapon. (https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/former-state-dept-lead-investigator-says-covid-19-escaped-wuhan-lab-may-have-been)
2. U.S. funded Covid-19 development. (https://www.newsweek.com/dr-fauci-backed-controversial-wuhan-lab-millions-us-dollars-risky-coronavirus-research-1500741)
3. Pandemic planning exercise, Event 201, sponsored by the World Economic Forum, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, etc. was held just as Covid-19 was being released. (https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/event201/about)
4. Initial Covid-19 outbreaks occurred almost simultaneously, in three different locations (Wuhan, Europe (Italy, France) and Iran. Each location was a different strain, indicating that they were 'seeded' separately and not spread by normal contagion. The fact that the rest of China was bypassed supports this conclusion.
5. U.S. and Western Governments did everything possible to prevent treatment of the virus. (Pandemic Blunder: Fauci and Public Health Blocked Early Home COVID Treatment Paperback – January 29, 2021 by Joel S Hirschhorn (Author))
6. U.S. (and the EU) try to block non-Western vaccines. (U.S. officials pushed Brazil to reject Russia’s coronavirus vaccine, according to HHS report)
7. The Covid-19 Pandemic was exactly the right tool at the right time that the Globalist Elites needed to :
- Get rid of (anti-Globalist) Trump by :
- sabotaging the U.S. economy prior to the 2020 election.
- providing cover for the massive electoral fraud required to unseat Trump
- Create the social climate necessary for the 'Great Reset'.
Conclusion : Blaming China is an attempt to divert attention away from Covid-19's true origins.

if anyone doubts the success of stigmatizing china since covid hasn't worked, they need look no further then to this event or @ 7 doubters commentary.....
was that a mirage trump saying '' china virus" for how long? haven't the msm been on a steady rampage of negativity towards china the past year or longer?? i see it in the cbc articles, so one doesn't have to go to the nyt to confirm it... they get this constant hate message on china, russia, iran and venezuala 24-7 from the western media - a 5 eyes specialty... perhaps the media is now the real problem, brainwashing minds, and especially compromised ones too and given an open platform for the intel agencies... b is right to draw our attention to this event for what it says about this move to stereotype china and the other countries in a constantly negative manner... there will be consequences and they won't be pretty... this might be - i am not sure it is - a good example of the influence of media in its campaign to stereotype china in a negative manner as it has been for the past year and under trumps term... it is also a byproduct of the capitalist system where everything is about money and power and the wests unwillingness to relinquish any of it on the world stage..

In fact, it was Fauci’s NAIAD that sponsored the research there, because no US lab would permit such risks.
This is to ignore the (Unexplained) fact that the US CDC closed down the bio-war lab in Fort Detrick for leaking, at the end of July 2020 and the unexplained deaths from "Vaping Disease" that occurred around the same time. The extreme secrecy around the minutes of meetings of the CDC. The ban on autopsies and testing at the start of the epidemic in the US. There are plenty of other anomalous things that need explaining before we can think that we are anywhere near to the whole truth.

Wow! Rather concerted Troll Attack to buttress the Anti-Human aspect of this event and its ultimate sponsor. In another Era, the epithets would be aimed at Jews or Slavs instead of Asians in general or Chinese specifically. One peculiar aspect of US history that's overlooked is its Culture of Hate that's existed since 1608 brought here by the Mother Country and the Hatred of its elites for everyone else but them. Today celebrates one of those hated ethnic groups, the Irish.
Somehow, the 1% must redirect the anger that's properly aimed at them onto others--any others. One of the key points Flores makes in his essay deals with that:
"The real problem is that the lack of public support for military imperialism mirrors the public’s aversion to the new cultural revolution underway in the U.S.
"We are forced to return our focus to the Syria theatre, for it is here that we are seeing the ugliest and most contemptible return to Obama-era policies, where ISIS terrorism and YPG separatist terrorism were both supported.
"But rather than reverse a truly Anti-American and misanthropic policy, the American oligarchy has cynically decided to simply change the ideology of the military so as to redefine the rationale for America’s disastrous adventurism without reversing the policy of adventurism itself. This also happens to be a reflection of a deeply problematic problem inside the U.S. as well: rather than confront the role of the financial institutions and the billionaire oligarchs running the U.S., there has been a decision to ‘punch downward’ and lay the blame for America’s problems at the feet of the American people themselves. ‘Racism’, we are told, is not an institutional phenomenon shaping public and corporate policy. which historically benefited the oligarchy’s divide-and-conquer motifs, but rather an ‘attitude problem’ at the level of the average private individual." [My Emphasis]
Do note how the Trolls fit with the program as described above. They're clearly Anti-Human and thus 1% tools. Was there an euthanasia aspect secretly supported by Trump and the Tories? The response of the two Outlaw Empires was very similar and both have the highest overall numbers of deaths by far; and we must admit the Neoliberal policies employed since Reagan/Thatcher are Anti-Human as many have now testified. Globally, there's a very clear pushback that began almost immediately and initiation of Pro-Human or merely Humane policies that were begun by China's Deng and those combating the Washington Consensus's tools--IMF, World Bank and WTO. We're now 40 years into this struggle and the terms of it are now much clearer--Zero-sum versus Win-Win--as are the proponents of the Human versus Anti-Human blocs. And to be sure, the 40-year block is just a microcosm of the 4,000+ yearlong Class War between Creditors/Rentiers versus the global Commons and its peoples.
It's not in the larger gov/media ecosystem's interest to allow the narrative of violence against AAPI people to be extrapolated from this white male's actions. If they allow this story to be about racism and its relation to the covid crisis (as it properly should be), then it sabotages the US Government's options in its movement toward direct confrontation on the East Asian front.
In other words, the US Government reserves the right to use violence (sanctions, cold/hot war) against Asia without being tainted by public opinion. If they let the narrative about these anti-Asian acts due to rhetoric about covid persist, then they won't have cart blanche in the future, since a national focus on hate crimes would lessen the impact of the anti-Asian sentiment nationwide (sometimes, but not always necessary for war).
Of course, imagine if some kid did the same to a group of Slavic people and the kid had prior made a rant about Russiagate or Putin, then the media would have ignored the whole story.
Posted by: Kapusta | Mar 17 2021 16:51 utc | 59
It is getting harder to hide that the novel corona virus is artificial. What happens when that is finally public knowledge but the narrative that it came from the lab in Wuhan is not yet solidly established? The obvious conclusion that even many Americans would come to is that the virus was used as a bio weapon by the US against China.
This is why the distraction that dh-mtl @53 discusses above is of utmost importance to the imperial establishment right now. The true culprit needs to prejudice the jury against the victim before the evidence of the crime is revealed.

For the past generation since 9-11, America has increasingly wallowed in successive spasms of:
-Islamophobia.
-Latinophobia.
-Russophobia.
-And now Sinophobia.
This is above and beyond the "normative" levels of Islamophobia, Latinophobia, Russophobia, and Sinophobia that America usually embraces.
There seems to be a pattern here….
The only thing that "unites" the DisUnited States of America is hatred of some (foreign) bogeyman or Other--preferably one that is not an Anglo-Saxon Protestant.
America will deny it until Doomsday and indeed psychologically project its own racism and xenophobia onto this Other, but the only thing that holds the DisUnited States of America together as an entity is thinly disguised hatred.
Without this perverse unifying animus, Americans would be at each other's throats even more than the current undeclared Red State-Blue State Civil War.
Donald "China Virus" Trump and his supporters were only the more naked expression of this hate, which the rest of the American establishment and regime leaders disguise behind Politically Correct slogans about colorblindness or diversity.
In fact, the propaganda slogan that Americans spouted after 9-11, "United We Stand," was a big lie.
America's unofficial national credo is actually: United We Hate.
Same as it ever was.
Why are Hate Crimes against Asian Americans on the Rise?

So far the story is the comments.
In my lifetime there has never been a moment when Russia and China were not demonized. Has nothing to do with any recent event or any recent POTUS. Permanent state of rage.
Being thoroughly woke and immaculately anti-racist won’t change a thing. Russkies are evil. Chicoms are evil. Even those bright enough to figure out it is all a scam perpetrated by the overlords cannot escape having been marinated in this propaganda daily since forever. Once upon a time b’s whipping post, the NYT, would have been slightly more polite while dispensing today’s Two Minutes Hate. Never a time when it was more than a veneer of civility.

ak74 @61--
IMO, you have the reason for Hatred Promotion incorrect as it's utilized as a Divide and Rule tool of the elites since 1608 as I mentioned @58. What's happening now is a continuation of the Anti-Human tactics employed since 1981 that centered on Reagan's attack on the Colored poor despite there being many more non-Colored poor in the USA then and now. Reagan also initiated the Anti-Japanese abuse linked to their automobile makers while escalating the Neoliberal Anti-Human War in Latin America started by Nixon and Kissinger and a similar effort in Southwest Asia to destroy both Iran and Iraq for the benefit of Occupied Palestine. Oh, and we shouldn't omit the CIA's promotion of the Inner-city Drug Wars due to its importation of Crack cocaine designed to further destroy that ethnic group through attrition, overdoses, and unequal laws that constituted the seed money for the Private Prison Industrial System. And I haven't come close to a complete review of the Anti-Human efforts then till now. As pyschohistorian tries to get people to realize, this isn't a Left/Right fight; it's Top/Bottom--the Class War.
I'm not so wedded to the theory anymore, but I personally think that SARS-CoV-2 emerging from Fort Detrick (USAMRIID) in Maryland is more plausible than a Wuhan lab spill. Epidemiologists are well aware that location of discovery != origin. There are confirmed COVID-19 cases in France by November 16, 2019, whereas Wuhan's first retroactively confirmed case was November 17. Italy has had COVID-19 circulating since September, 2019.
There was work done by American scientists at the Wuhan lab related to coronavirus, but I think the lab was set up as a patsy. It's way too obvious to actually be the culprit.
Remember the mysterious "vaping illness" clusters in Maryland and Virginia around the vicinity of USAMRIID in the summer of 2019? The Fairfax Country nursing home deaths in June/July 2019 where the CDC couldn't determine the pathogen? True, Influenza-A was unusually strong over the last couple of years, and in many ILI cases a specific pathogen isn't identified. But the timeline is almost too good to dismiss at first glance.

There has always been a simmering undercurrent of hatred for the Chinese in the USA. Ask the rail workers and early immigrants to California. oldhippie | Mar 17 2021 17:23 utc | 62 is 100% correct.
The conspiracy theories being promoted here are mutually contradictory. It's established fact that Donald Trump and his supporters went around calling COVID-19 the 'Chinavirus' for all of 2020, but that was just the latest face to Anglo anti-Sino sentiment blasted out on steroids. So if it's all a distraction and the US created the virus to wage bio-warfare against China, it would make sense for Trump to say that. BUT, still others are sticking by their own theories that China engineered the virus and it escaped the lab (there being a documented history of escapes happening). So which is it?
No matter which theory is correct, if either, Asian Americans are facing a wave of so-called hate crimes and it's not debatable.
https://news.yahoo.com/asian-americans-verbally-physically-attacked-182920825.html
Note from the yahoo article about the "study": The group did not collect data in previous years to show whether attacks against Asians have increased during the pandemic.
BUT...This isn't just about the guy in Georgia.

If Daszak led the WHO team, and the Wuhan lab was under his USG-funded “Eco-Health Alliance” then the WHO report lied about US responsibility, and Chinese authorities were lied to regarding the work there.
But others deny that “researchers managed to insert into coronaviruses the exact block of nucleotides that turned up in the SARS-CoV-2 genome published” so references would be helpful.
@William Gruff | Mar 17 2021 17:02 utc | 60
“It is getting harder to hide that the novel corona virus is artificial.”
It could have been a natural variant selected by the lab (or Ft. Detrick) and released near Wuhan to look natural.

Very good article, scientifically precise. Recommend:
What is the evidence that the lab leak theory has been debunked? Taking Peter Daszak's word for it? What is the actual evidence? Why did China shut down access to the database of gene sequences at the Wuhan Institute? Why was it easy to find the transitional animal for the 2003 SARS outbreak, but nothing so far for this one? Where did the furin cleavage site come from? And as a molecular biologist, B's amateur hour scientific commentary really shines through when he talks about anything biology related.

ak74 | Mar 17 2021 17:15 utc | 61 brings up good points. There has always been a thin veneer, now being a bit thicker than in the past, covering Anglo/American/White supremacy pervading the US government's foreign and domestic policies. The US corporate media - long co-opted by the profit motive and CIA/NSA spooks - has always sought to instill a fear in the population of "the other" whether that's Chinese, Russians, Blacks, IranIraqAfghanistan-is, the Irish, the Italians, the Polish or Latin Americans.
Both sides of the sleeping political divide in that country don't even seem to realize they're swimming in this propaganda, and the PTB use it to distract the people from the perpetual giveaway of the natural treasure and commons to private entities and corporations/banks, especially after the de-industrialization/financialization of America began.
Killary's fervid supporters are convinced that Russia and Putin gave Trump the election. Trump and his supporters are convinced that the "chinavirus" and lockdowns associated with it, as well as Venezuela (of course) are responsible for his own electoral loss. It is only possible to play both "sides" like this - AND to convince Americans that they are the exceptional society (of course, mainly recalling the 40s and 50s) because of the underlying attitudes of white "European" (a definition which has morphed in whatever manner that is convenient to divide the working class) supremacy that Americans have always been marinating in back to the era of slavery.
The USA - liberal and conservative - is and always has been primed to boil over into open hatred and violence based on the managed ignorance and division of its lower and middle class people. Different oligarchical interests have different means of accomplishing this, but they are all actually very similar. The liberal outlets like the NYT sell this fear of the other more subtly than the conservative outrage machine, but TPTB know that hate, anger and division not only sell (see: cable news ratings plunging after Trump left office), but work marvelously to prevent the working class from uniting and taking back control over the government that allegedly represents them in Washington D.C. and the state houses. What a schizophrenic society. Donald Trump played on it masterfully.

There are credible early reports that he said his motive was the local sex industry, of which he was a troubled patron. He claimed to be addicted to it.
I doubt the claim of racism. It is too convenient for those who say everything is about racism.
Since my wife is Asian, I know the racism is real. I'm not disputing that. The leap to assign motive to this nut is what I dispute.

The hypothetization that the fact that the victims are prostitutes automatically makes the motives of the killer distinct than racism is a puritanical relativization. The explanation is simple: he killed those prostitutes because he had access to them, not because they were prostitutes.
The guys' tweet, coupled with his race (Aryan phenotype) seems pretty conclusive to me: he wanted to kill Asians (Mongoloids, by alt-right/far-right terminology). He cannot fly to China to kill the entire politburo of the CPC. These prostitutes were simply the lowest hanging fruit.
I'd like to yet again provide an example of Pro-Human policy effort. Yes, yet again by Putin's Russia as he displays during his annual conference with the Prosecutor General’s Office Board:
"First of all, I would like to say that the prosecution authorities, just like all other agencies of the law enforcement system, are faced with the crucial task of protecting law and order, and, moreover, they are authorised, by virtue of their position, to make a considerable, significant contribution to Russia’s development as a law-based and community-focused democratic state.
"During the past year, which was far from simple, you managed to improve a number of vital indicators. For example, prosecutors upheld the social rights of over a million citizens....
"During the previous board meeting, I instructed you to redouble efforts to protect the most vulnerable groups of the population. I am asking you to continue monitoring this priority sphere. I would like to point out that in 2020 there was an increase in the number of violations exposed and, most importantly, remedied concerning the rights of disabled persons and pensioners....
"Your task is to ensure, together with other government agencies, the unconditional fulfilment of social guarantees, so that our senior citizens and people with disabilities can receive promptly and without any ordeals what is due to them, including social benefits, free medication and access to medical services and convalescent care facilities.
"And of course, matters such as support for large families, low-income families, orphans and single mothers should remain under close review. We must immediately respond to unlawful non-payment of benefits, compensations or other types of material support that people are entitled to." [My Emphasis]
I'm going to stop there as it's painfully clear that what Putin just urged his law enforcers to do would never be said in any of the Anti-Human nations, where within my state there are still people who became unemployed when the pandemic shut everything down a year ago and have yet to receive one penny of the benefits they filled for--something Putin denounced as an illegal act by the state. Who does Putin define as the most vulnerable part of society that requires protection--senior citizens and the disabled, the constituency the Anti-Humans hoped COVID and their policies would kill off: the same hope as Hitler.
There's much more Putin says that provides an insight into Russian society and what aspects he deems priorities: "Among our unconditional priorities is the protection of the rights of minors"; "Security systems at educational institutions need to be improved"; "Evidence of instances of so-called domestic violence must not be ignored. In 2020, more than half of all crimes against minors, unfortunately – but it needs to be admitted – were committed by members of their families." "Special attention should also be paid to healthcare, which is an extremely important, key area [Imagine that!]." "Furthermore, numerous acute and sensitive issues remain in the sphere of housing and utilities, including unjustified price hikes." And that's still not all as I've made a few major omissions you can read on your own.
I again want to emphasize that this is the sort of conversation the leader of a "law-based and community-focused democratic state" has with his security forces as this very closely echoes what he said to the SBU and Interior Ministry Board previously; and in the interests of governance transparency, is shared with the public as the above attests.
So, what sort of values is Putin displaying? Conservative? Liberal? Socialistic? Progressive? Humanistic? Paternalistic? An olio of all? Authoritarian as the West charges? Are Putin and Russia being attacked by the Anti-Humans because of their clearly Pro-Human values? IMO, Putin is creating/promoting Russia as a Win-Win nation; one designed to defeat the Anti-Human forces.
I have had many Chinese friends and always had issues with them regarding things like honesty, no sense of mutual assistance from them, etc. To think that Donald Trump is responsible for this clash of cultures is risible. B, you've got TDS.
Posted by: not convinced | Mar 17 2021 14:20 utc | 21
Pardon me, but this smacks of unmitigated bullshit.
If these people in your life, and you claim to have had many of them, were and are all dishonest and refused to assist you when you needed it, then you need to pull out a dictionary and look up the word "friendship." I don't buy it for a second unless you actually live IN China. LOL
Further, to accuse b of having TDS when, in fact, he's actually kind of distracting from Trump's candid history of bashing China and blaming them for his administration's horrible response when the pandemic made it to the USA, by focusing on the NYT, a rag that this perp has never once opened (or bothered to get past the paywall).
As far as the "clash of cultures", you're right there - Donald J. Trump isn't in any way responsible for its existence, but he sure did play on it to rile up his base and based on my own social media and conversations with friends and relatives, the anti-Asian sentiment is very strong among his followers at the moment. But to clash of cultures is a long-running ploy of the ruling elite to keep the American hive mind in the dark while they loot the coffers and murder people around the world in the name of spreading Democracy (capital D). Any clash with China or Russia will be sold no differently than the lies Americans were told about Saddam Hussein (a man they put in power), Assad (no doubt a bad guy, but no worse than American administrations), Qaddafi, etc.

"'Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov has been invited for consultations in order to figure out what to do and where to move in terms of relations with the United States,' the statement reads."
Indeed, what to do with the leading Anti-Human nation, its continuous prevarications, immoralities, and illegalities? Duma leader, Vyacheslav Volodin, has declared Biden's accusations as a smear aimed at all of Russia, not just Putin: "This is a tantrum that comes from powerlessness. Putin is our president, attacking him is an attack on our country." And since this year sees the Duma elections in September, I expect the bullshit to escalate. Perhaps some more attacks on the Syrian oil theft machinery is warranted for starters.
Rupert Murdhoch's Wall Street Journal getting in on the anti-China action, but with a "woke" twist. You can't make this stuff up.
https://fair.org/home/wsj-rage-at-woke-china-foreshadows-new-redbaiting-of-social-justice-activists/
The Journal suggested that the Chinese government was following the playbook of the Soviet Union, which reminded the world of the “social and antiwar turmoil of the 1960s” to turn world opinion against Washington. While implying that concerns of US racial injustice are overstated, the Murdoch-owned broadsheet said the Global Times’ “invocation of woke ideology shows they realize its threat to American confidence and purposes.”Not only did the Wall Street Journal argue that Chinese “wokeness”—a dismissive term used to deride campaigns against racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia—is a danger to conservatism, it depicts it as an existential threat to the survival of the US republic—whether employed by Communists abroad or social justice activists at home. If a Chinese newspaper can support the claims made by Black Lives Matter, then somehow Black Lives Matter must be a foreign agent of a rival power, the suggestion goes.
The Journal distinguished today’s progressives from the noble civil rights activists of the early 1960s, because the latter wanted to “match American practice with its founding principles,” thus indirectly acknowledging an essential US goodness, while the former are “woke activists” who “find America fundamentally flawed,” an entitled professional elite who worry more about the “Pentagon than they do Chinese censorship.”
The latter point by the Journal is an old deflection, but it has an obvious counter-argument: A US citizen has more responsibility for and agency to change conditions at home than in a foreign power like China. And while the Journal cites repression of Tibetans and Uighur Muslims, these are hardly overlooked issues in the United States. The Free Tibet movement has long had support among celebrities (Hindustan Times, 3/21/08); concerts for Tibet were all the rage in the 1990s (Rolling Stone, 8/8/96), as it was a major cause promoted by the Beastie Boys, and the concerts featured left-wing bands like Rage Against the Machine. Ill-treatment of Tibetans has been covered in the left-wing press (The Nation, 2/26/09; Jacobin, 2/21/17; In These Times, 4/7/05). And US human rights organizations have kept a close eye on the Uigher issue. It’s not like these concerns are unheard of in the United States across the political spectrum.
But acknowledging left critics of China would undermine the Journal‘s guilt by association: If Chinese editorialists think tapping into American wokeness is a way to divide and conquer the US empire, then any American with an LGBT flag or Black Lives Matter flag is either knowingly or unknowingly doing Beijing’s bidding.

I guess the larger question circulating here is this: to what extent are the US population being softened up for a conflict with China? The evidence of the war with Japan 1941-5 suggests relentless dehumanization of the yellow scourge was necessary for the population to accept a) a war of annihilation and b) that otherwise unconscionable savagery would be required on the part of their own troops and be justifiable.

Caitlin Johnstone provides the following rebuttal to the accusation of the Outlaw US Empire's "intelligence cartel":
"There is no legitimate reason to trust any of these unproven claims, and it’s also worth noting that even if those claims were true it would not matter. The US interferes in world elections more than any other nation on earth, so foreign nations are fully entitled to interfere in US elections as much as they like. You have no legitimate grievances about pushback on your behavior when you are the clear aggressor.
"Furthermore, any claims of foreign nations pushing 'influence narratives' are dwarfed by orders of magnitude by the influence narratives being pushed by the media-owning plutocratic class inside the United States. Claiming that any foreign nation has anywhere near that degree of influence over the narratives which Americans consume and believe is cartoonish. The only real electoral interference in the United States was by the plutocratic class." [Bolded Emphasis Mine]
Perhaps the only thing to do is ridicule the Outlaw US Empire and its actions. Laugh at it; make fun of it; point at its own admitted attempts to change governments; talk to all the other nations, take a vote in the UNGA on the topic, then shove that it Biden's face. Goad the Bully. Tease it; taunt it; employ all the tools used to delegitimize a Bully. What really needs to be done is for it to be put in the corner for an extended timeout then grounded for the rest of the year with no TV, video games or cell phones.
@K_C, no I do not live in China, but I did live in Vancouver, BC, Canada where 24 out of 25 of my colleagues were of Chinese origin, the other one being from India.
There was 1 nice person among that group. The friends that I mention were people I either worked for in other companies or met via other means. DO NOT EVER COUNT ON YOUR CHINESE "FRIENDS" FOR ANYTHING, AND I MEAN EVEN CALLING 9-1-1 DURING AN EMERGENCY. YOU WILL BE SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED.

Most of the race theory papers you read will glue all the Asians (except, curiously, the Japanese - why would that be...).....
I believe South Africa may have something to do with this shenanigan. In apartheid days, Blacks there were Negroes, Chinese/Korean were Mongoloids, Japanese were grouped into Whites. Japan in those days was rich enough to buy that honor. The rest of English speaking world always honor each others' practices and conformed. People's feelings, other than those of the White's, ain't important at the time.
I for one don't really mind if Japan is indeed non-Asian :)

Seems to me like the "Facebook" Post may indeed be photoshopped.
Can't find a copy of the picture used as the profile picture passed about 18 hours ago through a Reverse image search.
It seems like the photo is the "better image" the officer talks about in the video from this report.
Being that the image didn't exist on the internet until the police released it after the attacks, he couldn't be using it as a profile picture in a post before the attacks.

Thanks for your comment and questions.
Yes, the WHO was lied to. As a journalist based in Geneva, I have covered the WHO since 1992, and I have watched as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have taken it over, de facto, and turned it into vehicle for making money for him and his foundation, while giving Billy Boy a podium from which to pontificate as if he knew something about anything. The Gates Foundation is reputed to be the world's biggest shareholder in pharmaceuticals dealing with vaccinations. They fund a huge piece of the WHO's vaccination programs.
The WHO was a superb organization under Halfdan Mahler (who directed the program to eliminate small pox). He wanted to draft an internationally binding treaty for the marketing of pharmaceutical products. He had to abandon the project owing the the numerous death threats he got, directly and indirectly, from Big Pharma. (The were also the case of Germán Velásquez and the case that John LeCarré based his book The Constant Gardener on.) Mahler was succeeded by Nakagima, who arrived with the Japanese pharmaceuticals in tow. After that it was all down hill.
According to the people at the top of the WHO, SARS-CoV-1 was a germ warfare agent that had escaped from a lab in Guangdong in November 2002. The Chinese were frantically trying to catch up with the United States after John Bolton, on a special mission for the G.W. Bush regime, essentially shut down the November 2001 international conference in Geneva that was to present to the world a legally binding protocol for the 1976 Bioweapons Convention. China had been counting on that in order to avoid having to launch into a major, costly bioweapons program.
The Chinese authorities were desperate to bring the outbreak under control but unable. Three months later, in February 2003 (the date when the pandemic is considered to have started as if nothing had preceded this), they recurred to the WHO for help.
The WHO set up a world-class team of experts ("technical officers" in WHO jargon) to manage the outbreak, meeting twice a day, at least, in “the situation room”. It was soon replaced by a team of seven military germ warfare experts from the U.K. The technical officers were warned (threatened?) not to speak of any of this, for it was "a military matter".
As for the U.S. program, which goes back to 1942, simply look at the anthrax from the 2001 attacks. Before the whittling down of the original program under Nixon (1969...), they had achieved the exploit of concentrating several thousand anthrax-infected spores in a singe gram. The 2001 anthrax had a TRILLION spores in a single gram, supposed to be impossible (like building a ten-thousand-story skyscraper). Worse, the spores were coated with silicone, making them impervious to static electricity, hence instantaneously dispersable in the air.
The experts at the November 2001 Bioweapons Convention review conference, where the legally binding protocol was to be presented for ratification (the conference that Bolton shut down), pointed out that it would have taken several years of intensive research by a world-class team of experts in a major state-of-the-art laboratory to make this stuff.
In the end, Bruce Ivins was indicted, accused of having created the anthrax in his cellar (or was it his garage?) in his spare time at home. He was going to call his fellow researchers as witnesses, under oath. He conveniently committed suicide. Case closed.
Look at the peer-review literature going back to 2000: there is a multitude of testimony about the work that went into inserting these 16 nucleotides, all of it tied to Daszak and Fauci. Dr Francis Boyle, an expert on the legal end of it, who personally drafted the enabling legislation for the 1976 Bioweapons Convention (which – miraculously! – was passed unanimously by both houses of Congress), has written and spoken repeatedly about this work, which as a top-notch international lawyer he characterizes as a crime against humanity.
And look carefully at the people denying that “researchers managed to insert into coronaviruses the exact block of nucleotides that turned up in the SARS-CoV-2 genome published”. Every one that I have come across so far has been either connected to the military somehow or taking grant money directly or indirectly from Big Pharma and/or the chemical industry (which work hand-in-glove with the germ warfare program).
The most disingenuous denial (often repeated) is that, if we were going to create a germ warfare agent, we wouldn't do it this way, for our computer modeling does not recommend that it be done this way. The most absurd (directly from the military) is the flat-out denial that there is such a thing as germ warfare research being carried on by the United States, the proof of that being that the modest ( ? ) work being done by the Pentagon is strictly defensive (just like the nuclear arsenal is defensive…).
Finally (if you’re still reading), this was NOT an attack.
When a germ warfare agent looks like it can be “properly” weaponize for the arsenal, work begins on an antidote, in the case of a virus, both a vaccine and treatments. We have none, although some already available treatments have been discovered since the outbreak. Also the disarray in the Beltway zone was total. Event 201 was carried some four months after the June 2019 escape from Fort Detrick, as a precaution and to set up the corporatocracy for business, if things got out of hand. (In the end, Trump sent them packing, with the order, “Don’t spook the markets!”)
The Chinese, however, believed at least at first that they were under attack. President Xi, remember, warned The Donald about this virus, and The Donald, in his 7 February 2020 conversation with Bob Woodward, claimed that Xi had told him that it was terrifying and compared it to the plague.
The virus may just peter out in the end, but it is engineered to become ever more virulent and to play out over several years. As Fauci long kept insisting (and he should know, since he helped create this monster). “It’s only just begun.”
As for China bashing, Amy Goodman (for once) had a very good interview with Vijay Prashad on 16 March, Tuesday. He gave an excellent analysis of the situation. There is also John Pilger’s documentary, The Coming War with China (last I looked, still accesible on YouTube).

This may seem OT, but it's not. Synopsis by Strategic-Culture editors:
"Western pharmaceutical conglomerates have resorted to a bold denialist narrative that should make most contemporary 'genocide deniers' blush Stephen Karganovic writes."
As the writer remarks in his conclusion, it appears to be a case of Gleichschaltung. What are we to believe in this situation? Neoliberal nations and their media constantly lie and obfuscate, plus the #1 Anti-Human nation has passed legislation making Big Pharma immune from lawsuits over its vaccines, which ought to be a huge Red Flag for most people. Additionally, that same nation refuses to allow the use of perhaps the best overall performing vaccine merely because it's of Russian manufacture. Given the list supplied by the author, it ought to strike people as odd that Russia isn't on the list.
RJPJR @95--
this was NOT an attack.
Then are you asserting it was an accidental release or a natural occurrence?
RJPJR, thanks for that
What can be said with certainty is that some EU states played (and continue to play) an essential role in allowing it to spread, at a time when there were very few cases outside of the EU, US, UK, Iran, Brazil and China.
This was done by allowing flights and tourism almost uninterruptedly, in addition to allowing journalists and Brussels MPs to travel within the EU but also in and out because they are considered "essential workers", even (for the journalists) when they cover music or for musicians who go to perform or record somewhere.

As to the lab in Wuhan, As I remember, that lab had researchers from many other nations there on a regular basis.

While I am sure the motive is probably anti-chinese racism, we can't be sure the post you linked is real. Some claim it is photoshopped.
