Was This Fakenews An Attempt To Get Khamenei Banned From Twitter?

Yesterday Reuters issued this fake news story:

Top Iran leader posts Trump-like image with drone, vows revenge

DUBAI (Reuters) - The Twitter account of Iran's Supreme Leader on Friday carried the image of a golfer resembling former President Donald Trump apparently being targeted by a drone, vowing revenge over the killing of a top Iranian general in a U.S. drone attack.

The post carried the text of remarks by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in December, in which he said "Revenge is certain", renewing a vow of vengeance ahead of the first anniversary of the killing of top military commander General Qassem Soleimani in the attack in Iraq.
...
There was no apparent immediate action by Twitter over the Persian-language tweet on Friday by Khamenei, Iran's highest authority. (https://twitter.com/khamenei_site/status/1352349195114569739?s=24)

The Twitter account @khamenei_site was never Ayatollah Khamenei's Twitter account or associated with him.

Those 886.605 people who follow Khamenei on English Twitter know that his real (English language) account is @khamenei_ir. He has also accounts that post in other languages but those are listed as official ones. @khamenei_site is not one of them.

One wonders how the Reuters journos in Dubai could make such a 'mistake'. Was the intent to get Khamenei banned from Twitter? Israel has previously tried to achieve that.

Shortly after the Reuters story appeared Twitter banned the fake @khamenei_site account. This generate more fake news.

NPR still headlined the new information as if the deleted account had been related to Khamenei:

Twitter Bans Account Linked To Iran's Supreme Leader

Twitter permanently banned an account believed to be linked to Iran's supreme leader Friday after it posted a threatening image that included former President Donald Trump.

The account, @khamenei_site, was linked to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's website, The Associated Press reported. And the same account had previously posted portions of Khamenei's speeches and official content. However, a Twitter spokesperson told the AP that the account was fake, without elaborating on how it determined that.

The fake account was not 'linked' to Khamenei's website. It at times re-posted items from Khamenei's site. But just because a Twitter account names itself @NYT_site and maybe reposts stories from the New York Times website does not mean that it is 'linked' to it.

How then can NPR claim that the account is 'linked' to Khamenei even after Twitter said that it was fake? And why isn't the headline saying that the account was fake?

The Twitter ban of the fake account led to dozens of additional fake-news headlines - here is just one from the Washington Times:

Twitter says Iran leader's tweet threatening Trump's death was a fake account

Well, if it was a fake account how can it have been an "Iran leader's tweet"?

CBSNews tried to have it both ways by putting the fake into doubt quotes:

Twitter bans "fake" account linked to Iran supreme leader after post seems to threaten Trump

This all again proves that journalistic precision is not cared about when the item of a report is a perceived U.S. enemy.

Aside from all that the picture that started the whole issue does indeed exists. It shows a golf playing Trump under the shadow of a drone.

bigger

It is a Farsi language propaganda poster that was posted on Khamenei's Farsi language website. But it can not be found on any Twitter account related to him.

The use of such propaganda is not at all unusual. Last September a U.S. Air Force unit wore this badge during an amphibious assault maneuver that simulated an attack on a Chines islands in the South China Sea.

bigger

It depicts a U.S. Reaper drone dropping death onto the whole of China. The badge created some outrage in Beijing.

A very high resolution version of the 'drone shadow over Trump' poster is freely available for download and print.

You're welcome to use it.

I know a prominent Palestinian who has had a fake fakebook account created in his name. Nothing to do with him.

Can we be sure that that photo of Donald Trump is itself not a fake? A drone or drones may indeed have taken photos of Trump playing golf and the golf course but the photos may have been spliced together, or one photo may have been taken and some features erased. Where is Trump's set of golf clubs, for one thing? There would be a caddy as well.

We would need to know the source of that photo as well and where it was taken.

In any case the Iranians will not take down any individual US politician or military leader for the reason that no-one in the US matches the ability, competence and personality of Qassem Soleimani.

Iran is the last country on the list of '7 countries in 5 years' exposed by Wesley Clarke shortly after 9-11. Iran still has to take action regarding the murder of Soleimani. Would a false flag 'revenge' attack against an American symbol be sufficient to set off the 'kinetic 'action'?

"The fake account was not 'linked' to Khamenei's website. It at times re-posted items from Khamenei's site."

Because fact checking largely ceased at NPR 20 years ago. Less government funding meant NPR had to seek corporate sponsors, and that deal made NPR even less trustworthy than a relationship with the US government.

Furthermore, it's pretty clear that senior editors at places like the NY Times, NPR, etc, still don't understand basic facts about the internet, eg that it's really easy to falsely attribute X position to Y and now with the likes of Twitter or Facebook quickly disseminate that "information".

Part of the problem for NPR is the organization likely doesn't have someone assigned to specifically cover Iran, so there's no so called institutional knowledge of Iranian leader/s use of Twitter.

"The use of such propaganda is not at all unusual." Precisely. It's an ongoing project against Russia, China, Iran etc. etc. because without enemies to justify its inhumane and criminal military-industrial-complex, the USA is revealed as but the mirror of Donald Trump: a vainglorious fraud, hypocrite and cold-blooded killer.

Steve, 1:

"As long as the citizens of the West remain gullible, the fake media and politics will continure to thrive. However the rest of the world is not being shaped by what the West thinks anymore"

Most citizens of the west understand that if its on the internet doesn't mean it's verified, or that because some internet account has X name in it means that the account is controlled by X.

Now of course there are exceptions, eg Obama birthers, people who suppose Biden's win stolen are 2 good examples.

Russiagaters and those who believe (still) the 2003 US invasion of Iraq justified are in a different category since the press widely lied, and still lies, about both subjects, and ostensibly the press is supposed to at least be able to correct itself.

Jen @3, the photo is of course completely fake, created in Photoshop or some other such tools.

It might be an actual image of Trump that was composited in, but more likely some actor or other image made to look like him. The clouds and drone shadow were then added in.

For a drone to make a shadow that big, it would have to be humungous and super low to the ground, yet somehow there are pretty little clouds that are lower than the drone. And if a drone that big, flying that low to the ground, casting that large of shadow were to pass over you while you were golfing, you wouldn't be ignoring it during your swing like in that image but looking up in amazement.

The picture is a fake. The golfer is on the green, the dense type of lawn that surrounds the hole. When you are on the green, you will only be giving the ball a light tap. But the picture shows the golfer swinging away for a long-distance shot, as if he were teeing off with the hole hundreds of yards away.

My knowledge of golf comes solely from living next to a golf course. Indeed, there is a pair of tees, the rough (where you can find diamonds or golf balls), fairway (with more succulent grass, favorite of woodchucks), the green and obstacles -- sand and water obstacles (golf balls accumulate In water, additionally you can see frogs, turtles and other wildlife). Usually, there is a flag on the green, but the players take it out once there. The player in the picture (collage?) seems slimmer than Trump. Could the gesture represent triumphal tossing of the club toward the caddie, after putting the ball in the hole? I never seen players with caddies, so I do not know how they interact.

It is NOT MEDIA......it is PAID, PUBLIC RELATIONS! Journos ARE NOW PR SPOKESMEN .....oh and PR SPOKESWOMEN......oh and SPOKESQWERTY.

There is nothing as easy as getting people to believe what you know they really do want to believe!

Twitter knows who did it, but will not expose their friends. FAST Public relations gain plus Twitter gets to look responsive by banishment.

The content of the tweet is oddly timed as well. Why bring up revenge for Soleimani against Trump now? He's being impeached, he's gone from the White House, he'll probably be financially hamstrung for years. He's a non-target for Iran. Who stands to gain from this empty provocation? I guess Israel wants Biden to stay on point over the nuclear deal?

Personally, i would like to give any Iranian looking to exact revenge on Trump a little more credit. There are so many better options to just droning the depraved SOB.

My personal favourite would be sending him a nice video of his favourite offspring, say, the one whose name rhymes with a famous Russian furry hat for example.. receiving the loving attention of a group of Houthi and Hezbollah fighters.

As a response, it would likely be as asymmetric as Donald's face upon watching it.

And yet was Trump responsible in any real way? He knows sweet FA about Iran and could hardly have understood the regional complexities of Iran's interventions in Iraq. He was probably briefed the day before by Pompeo that the Quds brigades were 'bad guys' and that Soleimani was 'not a good guy'. Enough info for him: press send and then order up some KFC. The Iranians know this. The poster makes zero sense fake or not.

If Netanyahu loses his PM position, he will also be a target of revenge for all the people that he murdered cowardly in Syria.

Forget Khamenei, the fake news purveyors that need banning are Crowdstrike and Solar Winds Orion software.

Here is a teaser from Whitney Webb's fine report at unlimited hangout.

FireEye stated that they first identified the compromise of SolarWinds after the version of the Orion software they were using contained a back door that was used to gain access to its “red team” suite of hacking tools. Not long after the disclosure of the SolarWinds hack, on December 31, the hackers were able to partially access Microsoft’s source code, raising concerns that the act was preparation for future and equally devastating attacks.

FireEye’s account can be taken with a grain of salt, however, as the CIA is one of FireEye’s clients, and FireEye was launched with funding from the CIA’s venture capital arm In-Q-tel. It is also worth being skeptical of the “free tool” FireEye has made available in the hack’s aftermath for “spotting and keeping suspected Russians out of systems.”

In addition, Microsoft, another key source in the SolarWinds story, is a military contractor with close ties to Israel’s intelligence apparatus, especially Unit 8200, and their reports of events also deserve scrutiny. Notably, it was Unit 8200 alumnus and executive at Israeli cybersecurity firm Cycode, Ronen Slavin, who told Reuters in a widely quoted article that he “was worried by the possibility that the SolarWinds hackers were poring over Microsoft’s source code as prelude to a much more ambitious offensive.” “To me the biggest question is, ‘Was this recon for the next big operation?’” Slavin stated.

I smell a rat at Microsoft with the equally likely scenario being that microsoft is covering for its marginally secure code. Who knows, the next (or last) windows upgrade you get might have 'made in Palestine' encoded in it as yet another sick joke from the illegal occupier.

I doubt Trump will have any future financial troubles.

Yet, as the Epstein scandal has recently indicated, major espionage scandals involving Israel receive little coverage and investigations into these events rarely lead anywhere. PROMIS was covered up largely thanks to Bill Barr during his first term as Attorney General and even the Pollard affair has all been swept under the rug with Donald Trump allowing Pollard to move to Israel and, more recently, pardoning the Israeli spy who recruited Pollard during his final day as President. Also under Trump, there was the discovery of “stingray” surveillance devices placed by Israel’s government throughout Washington DC, including next to the White House, which were quickly memory holed and oddly not investigated by authorities. Israel had previously wiretapped the White House’s phone lines during the Clinton years.

There’s Wall Street, then there’s Main Street. At least there’s some connection between the two. Then you’ve got “Baker Street,” which isn’t connected to either — or any other place for that matter.

Though I’m not a drunk. Nor am I a rolling stone. In fact, I’m pretty much a stone that stands still. I’m very much an outsider, though, which is why I can very much relate with this song. Perhaps Trump, being an outsider of sorts, can also relate to it.

You be wrong, Mr. Trump bears direct responsibility for the murder of the late martyred Brigadier General Soleimani.

On Trump and Iran and Solimani
Babak Makkinejad
Wed 1/13/2021 8:18 PM

Trump's near total ignorance of how Zionists have manipulated him toward unnecessary scaling up of enmities against Iran, and particularly, the illegal and cowardly assassination of the national hero of Iran General Soleimani while he was invited to Iraq through the request of Trump himself to reduce the tensions between Iran-supported militia (who were busy fighting the likes of ISIS) and US forces in Iraq was surely the failure of his presidency.

I am no fan of the utterly corrupt democratic party, but at the same time do consider Trump's humiliation and self-destruction utterly enjoyable to watch! He could have been a good president; if he was not so unbelievably naïve and Zionist-gullible.

According to the Iraqi PM:

Abdul-Mahdi added as per the publication that he was expecting a meeting with Soleimani the day the commander was killed in a US-sanctioned airstrike.

“He came to deliver me a message from Iran, responding to the message we delivered from Saudi Arabia to Iran,” the Iraqi prime minister said, according to Washington Post.

"What happened was a political assassination," Abdul Mahdi added. He noted that TRUMP HAD ASKED HIM TO INTERVENE AND ARBITRATE A DISCUSSION WITH IRAN AFTER PROTESTS OUTSIDE THE US EMBASSY IN BAGHDAD.

https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/594521-iraq-pm-reveals-reason-why-soleimani-was-in-baghdad-before-death

You can also read a short sequence of events here:
https://twitter.com/ejmalrai/status/1345613144920625153

1. The #US allowed #Israel to bomb Hashd al-Shaabi HQs and killing of a commander by an Israeli drone.

2. #US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper informed (did not ask permission) PM Adel Abdel Mahdi that he will bomb Hashd al-Shaabi positions. The Iraqi Prime Minister warned him of the consequences. The US unlawfully attacked an Iraqi HQ at the borders with #Syria, monitoring #ISIS.

3. #US killed soldiers and officers of the Iraqi army, the Federal Police and Hashd al-Shaabi in a clear violation of their role in #Iraq, the international law and with no accountability. Hashd, Army and FP reacted against the US embassy in Baghdad, angry about the US killing.

4. The 31st of December 2019, Pr. @realDonaldTrump called #Iraq PM Adel Abdel Mahdi and asked him to intervene with #Iran to de-escalate following the US killing of 28 Iraqi security forces at al-Qaem and the reaction of their companions in arms against the US embassy in Baghdad. Prime Minister Abdel Mahdi promised @realdonaldtrump to do talk to #Iran and asked his office to contact Sardar Soleimani inviting him to #Baghdad. Soleimani travelled to Lebanon, slept a night in #Damascus and arrived to #Baghdad to the request of the Prime Minister.
5. And once he arrived he was assassinted by direct order of Trump

The Mad King will pay for the murders of the late martyred Abu Mahdi Mohandas and the late martyred General Soleimani and their martyred companions.

They have been given the honor, In their death, of being circus animated around the Shrines of Imam Hussein & his esteemed companions, Imam Ali, and Imam Reds. No one, but no one has been so honored in 1400 years.

Not that the dishonorable murdered can comprehend the monstrosity of their dastardly deed.

The world of Shia will always remember.

Gotta agree with fyi on orangeutan's just desserts re the murder of Qassem Soleimani. It is irrelevant how much he knew or if he was mislead, the trumpet approved the murder of at least five human beings, setting aside for the moment that there can be no 'justified' murder, any decent responsible human being would thoroughly check out more information from independent sources about all of the humans who would be killed as a consequence of his/her decision.

Of course there are a number of other amoral scum who were part of the conspiracy to murder all of these people who also need to be held to account.
The thing is, there is no rush (especially not after d.trump has been flicked like a ball of snot off a shiny lapel) but when the hammer does come down it makes sense for orangeutan to be the first cab off the rank, since if one of the others, say Esper were to be sorted first, that security on trumpet would be beefed up to the max and it could take years before everyone is so totally distracted by the here & now and security becomes lax once again.
It also seems to me that it would take a lot of amerika eating crow, certainly more crow than any current amerikan politician would swallow, before the Iranian people will cease demanding justice for General Soleimani.

The fake account was not 'linked' to Khamenei's website.

Trump and Pompeo deserve to live in fear of the consequences of what they did to Soleimani and Al Muhandis, but this 'event' was surely orchestrated not by Iran but by 'friends' of the Biden regime, who need all the distractions they can get from their military junta style inauguration and disastrous domestic and international policies. They need Trump to stay in the news.

But you got to admit they did a good job when they commandeered the media and they totally got away with 911. Now they have their very own regime in place again and this time it will take the total destruction of America to shift them. America is truly a nation of gutless Imperial Snowflakes.

These American snowflakes get triggered over an *image* of a drone bombing a *likeness* of a golfer somewhat resembling Donald Trump--and they react by censoring a (fake) Khamenei Twitter account in retaliation.

Meanwhile, in the real world, the American Empire is actually bombing multiple real nations around the planet and slaughtering flesh-and-blood men, women, and children in a chilling global murder spree that most Americans either cheerlead and support, or simply don't care about.

The business of America is *not* business.

The business of America is mass murder on a planetary scale--justified by fake American values like "freedom and democracy."

America is truly Mass Murder Inc.

Here is one of the most famous examples of America's homicidal values in action, the Collateral Murder Video:

Collateral Murder

Since the Nuremberg-style trials of murderers are not possible for the American criminal political class, (US even sanctions the International Criminal Court officials), this type of image is the least we should have. Hope to see more of this and other subtle/explicit warnings for those American officials.

In similar vein, but less ominous way, Chinese government has announced a series of sanctions against Pompeo, Bolton and a bunch of others. These people will not be able to set foot in China/Hong Kong/Macao, and their and their families' companies will not be able to do businesses in China. This should ensure plenty of multi-national companies would NOT employ them. Quite an effective way to hit their wallets where it hurts.

One of the best comments I've seen about Khomeini using (or not) Facebook and Twitter is that they have "excommunicated him".

Very apt as they have become our new religious masters, decreeing by divine right who is heretic and who is still to be considered among the faithful.

Hello barflies, r u awake? U r not looking at a picture, u r looking at an animation. Technical quality top of the line circa 20 years ago. Or more.
More important: what do u think drones look like? That's not the shadow of a drone. Might b a B2 bomber. Or ailiens.

Love the theme tough. Great satire! In my haydays I could have made that.

Stupid Trump killed the man who could stop Biden's attacks on Syria. Foolish, foolish man that he is.

It seems that my hunch was right and the Reuters 'mistake' is indeed part of a campaign.

U.S. government paid propagandist Maish Alinejad has a WaPo op-ed:
Why Twitter should ban Iran’s supreme leader

The Zionist Anti defamation league is also running with the campaign
Jonathan Greenblatt @JGreenblattADL

We welcome @Twitter suspending 1 of #Iran's Khamenei's accounts. But this is not enough. Khamenei incites hate, violence, Holocaust denial & COVID rumors through his 6+ OTHER accounts. I wrote to @jack demanding that Twitter apply its rules fairly & suspend all his accounts now.

Many barflies continue to write about how incompetent the elite are running this shit show. Those incompetent elites have been in control of Western society and most of the world for centuries. And they continue to make many believe that it is in their best interest to be slaves to the inherited elite who are their betters.....

The white Western judeo Christian mass media cannot be trusted.

"... Microsoft is covering for its marginally secure code."

I see that you're being rather generous today concerning the description of MS source code.

The shadow looks more like a bomber than a drone, and the golfer seems to be on a green but is driving. Not that it matters. If Khamenei wants Trump assassinated, I'm just saying that every man has his price.
