Everyone missed the story yesterday. Biden drove to the inauguration through a continuous cordon of troops. No one saluted him as he passed. Many stood with their backs turned to him. Most simply stood at ease and ignored the Presidential motorcade.

Biden insulted them by taking away their ammunition. He insulted them again with FBI political vetting. Biden, Washington DC, the media, the Democratic firmament, are all at war with flyover America, The military is drawn almost entirely from flyover America. Enlisted men are not going to re-up, at least not in the numbers they did. Junior officers are and will be resigning commissions. The US military was already a shambles. The Democrats have no idea what they have done.

Biden talking with his soon to be military advisors demanded the troops Trump pulled from Iraq be returned. So yes there was some confusion and the troops, all 26,000, ended up in Washington DC and the capital looks like the Green Zone in Baghdad. Does this mean we are occupied? I suppose this confusion is what we will be seeing in this new administration.

oldhippie @1: "The Democrats have no idea what they have done."

They have been profoundly oblivious to the consequences of their actions for years now. Their delusion and departure from reality is complete and absolute.

With that said, if they noticed the response of the troops then they most likely believe that their political purity tests were improperly done and they just didn't have the correct troops. Maybe next time they will only allow transgender ones?

When you need to have more troops at your inauguration then we had in the green zone in iraq, what does that say about your confidence in yourself and how much the people love you?

The Democrats have no choice but to find enemies everywhere. I guess it will be safer to target 75 million Americans rather than start something with Iran. If they have no enemy is unite the Left against - and they've just lost their favourite pantomine villain DJT - then the numerous factions will begin bickering amongst themselves.

Fortunately they still have the Covid Crusade, a divisive issue sent from heaven(or a biolab). The 1% have turned so many people into irrational basket cases with their 10 months of endless fearmongering that the Democrats can count on significant support for their war on the Deplorables. They need only frame that war as a war against the Covid Idiots, who wish to infect and murder everyone. Doubtless the MSM will present the narrative as a great crusade to save Americans health. Even if the majority are finally coming to their senses and recognizing Covid was never as threatening as it's made out to be, the media will surely manufacture consent and make an irrational minority appear to be a great majority.

As Warren Zevon would say: it ain't gonna be pretty at all!

I feel like a mind reader, or someone else was reading my posts.

I never, ever go to pjmedia, but I clicked on a link from a different site.
Glad I did.

Actually quite a worthwhile read:
https://pjmedia.com/columns/stacey-lennox/2021/01/20/the-who-finally-updates-its-covid-19-testing-policy-1-hour-after-bidens-inauguration-n1398857

What I have referred to as the “casedemic” since September will be magically solved just in time for Joe Biden to look like a hero. For doing absolutely nothing.

In short, a positive PCR test in the absence of symptoms means nothing at a Ct of higher than 30, according to the experts interviewed by the New York Times and according to Jaafar et al. Yet positive tests is the number CNN loves flashing on the screen. If the percentage found by the Times in August holds, there have been approximately 2.43 million actual cases to date, not 24.3 million. There is also no way to calculate the deaths from COVID-19 rather than deaths with some dead viral debris in the nostrils.

The author at pjmedia does not address an important point. The author says Biden will be made a hero - big deal.
What the author missed is that the faked "success" of Biden's mask mandate in Protecting Public Safety
will be used as a mandate to implement more draconian measures - Biden's Domestic Terrorism laws.

It won't just be Covid-19 issues that will be addressed in the new Biden's Domestic Terrorism laws.
If you do something, speak something or associate with anyone that speaks of anything
that can be interpreted as "threatening" Public Safety then you *are* either a Domestic Terrorist yourself, or you are a supporter of
a Domestic Terrorist or you encouraged a Domestic Terrorist.

Under the new Biden's Domestic Terrorism laws
you will be silenced.

A new definition of "Free Speech" is arriving:

I would just like to point out that everyone of the problems we face today, EVERY SINGLE ONE, stems from the 2008 GFC and never addressing the problems that caused it or stemmed from it. Once we decided to have an entirely fake economy, it was only a matter of time until everything else became fake. Scapegoats are found because to address the problems we have, we'd have to change management. And they aren't going to fire themselves. Change my mind.

Things are looking very bad for the mRNA vaccines:

Part of a Bumpy Road? Thousands of Moderna Vaccine Doses Set Aside in Maine, Michigan

At least 4,400 doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine in Maine have been set aside because they were not kept adequately cold during transportation, local health officials have revealed.

Vaccine vials are supposed to remain at temperatures between -25°C and -15°C (-13°F and 5°F), in line with instructions from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Watch Fire Break Out at Indian COVID Vaccine Manufacturer Serum Institute Facility in Pune

Just your average Indian crumbling infrastructure and overworked and underpaid labor force. Nothing to see here.

Israel is warning that a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine is "less effective than we hoped" against COVID-19, and it could be a blow to the US and UK strategies

Pfizer says that a single dose of its vaccine is about 52% effective, while getting a second dose makes it around 95% effective.

According to Israel, the single dose appears to only be 33% effective, a significant loss

In other words, Pfizer lied about the effectiveness of its single dose - by a lot. What it makes us believe its claims for the double dose to be true?

Meanwhile, reality is beginning to set in:

Directly from the WHO website

Description of the problem: WHO requests users to follow the instructions for use (IFU) when interpreting results for specimens tested using PCR methodology.

Users of IVDs must read and follow the IFU carefully to determine if manual adjustment of the PCR positivity threshold is recommended by the manufacturer.

WHO guidance Diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 states that careful interpretation of weak positive results is needed (1). The cycle threshold (Ct) needed to detect virus is inversely proportional to the patient’s viral load. Where test results do not correspond with the clinical presentation, a new specimen should be taken and retested using the same or different NAT technology.

WHO reminds IVD users that disease prevalence alters the predictive value of test results; as disease prevalence decreases, the risk of false positive increases (2). This means that the probability that a person who has a positive result (SARS-CoV-2 detected) is truly infected with SARS-CoV-2 decreases as prevalence decreases, irrespective of the claimed specificity.

WHO Information Notice for IVD Users 2020/05

Biden just destroyed 10,000 jobs and took $2.2 billion in payroll out of workers pockets. This is not what Americans need or want right now.

10,000 jobs is an oil industry propaganda number and doesn't account for the temporary nature of the work, the inroads made into those numbers by automation, and so on. Please tell me the discerning commenters of MoA know better than to repeat straight GOP talking points like this.

Another way to look at this is we just saved billions attending to the social costs of fossil fuel extractors, and ended crony capitalist support for an industrial megaproject which dispossessed indigenous peoples and polluted their land. Natgas is and has been a failing industry. It exists because of extensive government handouts - most often in the form of looking the other way when their industrial practices harm workers and the environment.

Not looking forward to more conservative Biden Derangement Syndrome. Just gonna be a repeat of all the nonsense we heard about Obama - which incidentally deflected attention from where Obama should have been criticized more often, or called for worse policies than what Obama offered. When you're ready to look at your conditions of life as they really exist, hit up your local Marx reading group. You'll stop chasing the conservative media's white rabbits.

Yes. This is what the "PCR is fake" squad doesn't get: PCR tests are precise, what changes is how each country is interpreting them.

There's nothing fake or wrong with the PCR tests, they do what they were built to do.

But even this debate is moot: the problem with most countries is not with excess testing, but with the lack of testing. There is a reason China is the only country that excludes asymptomatic cases from its count: they are the only country capable of testing everybody, so they know how much asymptomatic they have in the first place.

In the rest of the world (i.e. excluding China), cases are essentially being counted by symptomatic people going to the doctor and getting tested and by people literally dying from the disease (i.e. after months agonizing in a ventilator). There's no problem of overcounting, but of undercounting - this is specially true in Third World countries like Brazil and India, which probably have more cases and deaths than the USA.

Is it a required assumption that none know how to do a search? Try “soldiers tun back on motorcade”.

I did not find this at any of the sources there. And will guess those will be scrubbed shortly. Personal sources. Would not have thought to look for such a thing if the information had not come first. We were careful not to create a digital record.

What anyone should have seen instantly was an inauguration attended only by senior nomenklatura. They are in a vacuum. They will make such records as they make. Who remembers that a parade up Pennsylvania Avenue is traditional, with pomp and circumstance? Biden may just as well be a hologram.

Dmitry Orlov had an interesting proposition on his latest article (behind paywall)

I wonder, at what point will it become obvious to a critical fraction of people that the problem being addressed by shutdowns, lockdowns, curfews and various other supposedly epidemic control measures, which are really consumption suppression measures, is not epidemiological but petrochemical, driven by the need to curtail the consumption of oil in a systematic and symmetrical manner?

He may just be right.

COVID-19's impact on the global economy and consumer behaviors has reduced long-term world oil demand by 2.5 million barrels per day, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics Future Energy Outlooks.

However, some adjustments to the demand outlook were positive as weaker oil prices make electric vehicles less competitive, reduce the drive for efficiency, and stimulate underlying oil consumption.

The weaker oil demand therefore is not meaningful enough to substantively bring forward the timing of the peak in oil demand that S&P Global Platts Analytics projects for the late 2030s. For oil demand to peak by 2025, drastic changes would need to occur to business and consumer behavior, including near full adoption of working from home, reshoring of supply chains, and widespread electrification of road transportation.

Moving Mountains: COVID-19 and Peak Oil Demand

An influential research firm has cut its estimate of potential oil production by an amount that exceeds the reserves of Saudi Arabia, as the coronavirus crisis accelerates longer-term structural changes to the market.

In an annual report published on Thursday, Oslo-based Rystad Energy said its estimate of “recoverable” oil resources — the volume that could be extracted from the earth, given constraints of technology and demand — has fallen since 2019 by 282bn barrels to 1.9tn barrels, as consumption habits change and oil companies abandon exploration plans. The proven reserves of Saudi Arabia, the world’s second biggest producer, come to 267bn barrels.

“‘Peak oil’ is now a little closer,” said Per Magnus Nysveen, head of analysis at Rystad, referring to the hypothetical moment of maximum production. “We used to say that peak oil will happen around 2030. Now we say that it could happen in 2027 or 2028.”

Coronavirus will hasten ‘peak oil’ by three years, says research firm

"Alberta, Canada doesn't have a GOP."Dogon Priest@24
Technically you are correct. In fact Alberta has something much worse-the United Conservative Party headed by the politically criminal Jason Kenney, who recently sold the rights to remove the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains to an Australian open cast coal mining syndicate. Royalties in Alberta for Oil Gas and Coal are the lowest in the world.
Kenney has also sunk billions of dollars into the Pipeline which would have transported the dirtiest form of oil- bitumen produced in the tar sands to replace Venezuelan heavy oil in southern refineries.
Biden's decision is the best news Alberta's people have had for a long time.

The day after the speech view from China, China can be a partner to help Biden realize his goals:

"In the Global Times' view, Biden's vision is closer to the reality of the US. He is much more rational than his predecessor Donald Trump who attributed a large number of US domestic problems to external factors. And a very important point is: China can be a partner with the US in fighting COVID-19, resolving climate problems and promoting growth. Compared with confrontational policies, the China-US cooperation is obviously more conducive to realizing Washington's new ambitions.

"However, the work of the Biden administration will undoubtedly be difficult. The US is facing more difficulties than it did four years ago. Its available resources are even less abundant. And the Democratic Party, which the new US government relies on, has only limited advantages in Congress. In addition, US public opinion regards Biden as a "weak president." Trump, who has stepped down, may maintain a considerable amount of political mobilization. The resistance that the Biden administration is facing should not be underestimated."

I thought this a very fair assessment as is the following:

"One thing is very important. During the past four years, China-US relations have deteriorated. All conflicts have been provoked by Washington. Beijing has merely been responding and making countermoves. The results of the repeated conflicts prove at least two things. First, China is absolutely a defender, instead of a provocateur, in the series of conflicts with the US. Second, China is powerful and it cannot be easily brought down or suffocated by the US' containment and suppression strategies. Trump's China's policy has been a failure. This is evident from the comparison of the two countries' development situation as he stepped down Wednesday. The restart of China-US cooperation is more in line with the US' overall interests."

I agree totally with the reasoning that cooperation will be far more beneficial to both nations than continuing Trump's confrontation. But as the editorial noted, there are worrisome signs that continuity will win-out over reason. The policy contours will be much clearer by the end of the month as we watch what is said.

Soldiers 'turning their backs' on the parade is a good one! Anyone with the brains required to operate a computer keyboard has to be aware that protecting a parade from supposed threats from outside will require those involved to turn their heads (and thus their backs) to scan the neighbourhood.
It would have been news if the soldiers had refused to turn their backs on the spectacle and left those in the parade to take their chances with any bomb throwers or snipers.

Typical for flip-flopping WHO U-turners:

They manage to make a short half page Jan 20, 2021 "Biden Inauguration" PCR update notice chock full of a lot of new (ie different from those in their previous [Sept 11. 2020] PCR guidance document) acronyms ie. NAT vs NAAT ('Nucleic acid testing vs nucleic acid amplification testing) "IFU", "IVD" yada...) completely opaque and nearly impossible to understand the information they are trying to hide(?).

Now that the QAnon wet-dream of a caped crusading Trump is flushed down the Golden Toilet, as the muzzled Don is shuffled out to Floridian Pastures to scratch his vainglory until it bleeds, one wonders at the wasted opportunity to have tended toward honest populist progress versus the Cult of Q, a psyop to bring to ground the flat-earth-fake-moon-landing-FEMA-camp-boxcar folk into the NSA database to engage in counter-revolution operations.

And now, due to the tail-chasing, wishful thinking crowd whose fervor marshalled 75 million votes for the world's biggest loser, we have our new normal, same as the old normal of War and Wall Street, business-as-usual, as far as the eye can see.

China also sent another message just as Biden was taking his oath, it announced sanctions on 28 anti-China politicians:

"The message was clear. It aimed to punish former officials who contained China in a reckless manner, telling those politicians that they should bear the consequences and meanwhile send out a warning to the US that when it comes to China policy, it should always respect China's core interests and safeguard the bottom line of ethics and regulations, Li Haidong, a professor at the Institute of International Relations of China Foreign Affairs University, told the Global Times.

"Lü Xiang, an expert of US studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, told the Global Times Thursday that in US politics, there was a revolving door for US politicians to be employed in private sector companies, financial institutes and think tanks after they leave office.

The sanctions would seriously affect "the politicians' road for gaining money," Lü said. 'For instance, like Stilwell on the sanction list, we met in Washington when he was going to retire from the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2015,' Lü said. 'At that time, the issues that most interested him were about doing business.'"

Those of us that loathe Pompeo ought to find this article citing numerous Chinese officials refreshing. But perhaps the best citation offered is from January 5th's The Washington Post:

"Pompeo's Twitter thread - now dozens of entries long - began on Jan 1 with the kind of bald-faced lie you would have expected from Big Brother… There is not enough space in this newspaper to chronicle all of Pompeo's falsehoods."

Interesting that Trump wasn't sanctioned, at least for now.

Until your query I did not have any source other than verbal. To bevin’s rubbish will note that in the videos the closest approach to standing at attention is the soldiers who are rigidly looking away. They are not scanning for snipers. That interpretation comes from those who know everything a priori.

For years and years I have attempted to dissuade young men from enslaving themselves, or as they would put it “serving their country.” Never to any effect. Ever. Those same youngsters are not now enlisting. Events of recent months have cancelled martial enthusiasm.

Biden is not starting any wars. He will have trouble servicing current conflicts. Presuming his idiot advisors attempt to drag the country into more wars they will have their asses handed to them.

Will give you a source for something else. Try artberman.com. Technical analysis, not theories or prognostications. US domestic oil production will be going down 2 million bpd over next six months. That is the technical part. Rig counts. Now figure out for yourself, with whatever native analytic resources you have, the strategic consequences of that. One clue. There are zero strategic thinkers in Democratic ranks.

I don't agree with your assessment at all.

The fact that those who profit from our "arrangement" with China, outside of food exporters, are all tech, finance, and admin groups (i.e. urban, coastal, and democrat), tell you all you need to know about where Biden's priorities will be wrt China.

Any type of military confrontation will be pure theater, with the U.S. hiding the fact that they know Hong Kong and Taiwan will soon be fully absorbed. In the mean time, the MIC can continue their looting and Joe the puppet can ramble on about protecting Hong Kong and Taiwan for democracy.

What is more important to Joe: continuing the globalist enrichment of our elites or some western holdovers over there? Yeah, and who funds the dems?

Any nationaist sentiment IS a threat to the globalist-China arrangement. Biden will seek to restore our prior globalist-leaning stance.

So, no, I don't agree with your assessment or b's. It seems to be something your minds can not grasp and get beyond because of your Chinaphilia.

Cons really love "basic math", basic any subject, and of course, "common sense" - which just refers to whatever sayings and homespun wisdoms pass for conservative intellectual output at the moment, always conveniently excusing conservative abuses of corporate and governmental power. But don't get into the advanced stuff, that's a little too hard for cons.

Natgas sector really is automating jobs away, and again, the work is not constant. While roughnecks - the ones that are left, anyway - get fat paychecks, these do not make up for the individual costs borne by these workers over a lifetime of working in the oil fields, which include medical costs for treating chronic maladies caused by exposure to industrial pollution, or the physical breakdown of their bodies due to the wear and tear of the work. This is not even factoring in the costs of exposure to pollution of regular civilians, who just happen to live in the area. In St. James Parish, there are cancer clusters in the population caused by proximity to pollution emitting processing facilities.

The jobs are bad from every perspective except the narrow one of making as much money as fast as possible. But maybe we, as a society, should have other values besides this market liberal one of maximizing capital. I would expect conservatives, of all people, to be open to that possibility, but the sad reality is that conservatives in amerika believe in one thing and one thing alone - Mammon - and all else is subjugated to this sole value. The "jobs" canard is the one always used by corporate powers trying to exploit a region's mineral wealth while privatizing the social costs of extraction and processing. The fact of the matter is, if we want jobs, we can get them with jobs programs that don't generate these social costs and that actually go toward improving the environment. That's too leftist for Biden, who's no social democrat, but them's the facts.

I could get into the numbers, and point out how in my home state of Louisiana, the number of workers involved in mineral extraction has declined to about half of what it was in its peak of 2012, and how this is independent even of the booms and the busts of the fossil fuel extractors, indicating that it's automation and not burdensome regulation or the end of government handouts to multinationals driving unemployment in the fossil fuel industry, but I really think that would go over your head. If I could reduce this to conservative-style talking points, I think I could reach you better.

I think it a great mistake for Public Citizen and other NGOs to seek criminal indictment of Trump as a way of unifying the nation. Yes, you read that correctly, Nader's Public Citizen said:

"A good way to unite the country would be to convict and prosecute Donald Trump and hold accountable every member of Congress who incited a white supremacist insurrection."

IMO, these NGOs are extremely tardy since no such challenges were applied to Reagan/Bush, Bush/Quayle, Clinton/Gore, Bush/Cheney, or Obama/Biden, all of whom committed Capital Crimes against humanity and abetted the ongoing fraud of the Neoliberal Parasites. Furthermore, their aims if carried forward will result in the very opposite of what they want to achieve--Disunion instead of Unity. If anyone from Trump's administration ought to be arrested for his crimes, it's Pompeo; yet, he's strangely absent from most D Party criticism.

Comments claiming that the troops who turned their backs to Biden were "looking for terrorists" give me a really good laugh. Do they all need to be watching some shrubs hundreds of yards away in case an army of chubby terrorists in Hawaiian shirts pop out and come charging lumbering across the grass? Is there any chance that they could spot anything that the drones and surveillance cameras miss? This isn't some forward fire base deep in enemy territory, it is Washington DC! Even so, it is customary in the military to salute the senior officer when they pass, even in somewhat hostile environments.

The troops turning their backs to Harris/Biden is a very blunt dismissal of their authority. There is no ambiguity here.

There is a lot of information in visuals. You have to look at them. Look at the last frame of the video you posted. That soldier appears to be urinating. It is not standard military protocol to urinate in front of a President or even to give the appearance of urinating.

Reuter’s Fact Check is currently echoing your claim that security normally looks away. And posts video of the Trump inaugural and an Obama inaugural. First thing seen is there are crowds and security Is alert and watching the crowds. Not standing backs turned. Security and military honor guards are clearly two different teams. There are proper military honor guards along the routes of those inaugurals and decorum is maintained. Biden has no military honor shown at all. And no crowd. Not in the video you linked and not elsewhere

I have no reason to imagine that video posted by a Correspondent/Producer for ABC News on her own account and appearing in chronological order with her other inaugural day posts is anything other than from her team. No reason to suppose that this is counterfeit video from right wing madmen.

It is very clear that some will just not accept what they do not wish to know. If reality does not confirm your own internal narrative the problem is not orange man bad or the bad acid. The alleged bad acid from 50 years ago.

Here is a backgrounder on the new administration from Scheerpost writer Maj. Danny. Add this to your list of goto sites to see what is revealed.

Biden has appointed a class specific team of flunkies:

[The archetypal Biden nominee] sprang from an Ivy League school, became a congressional staffer, got appointed to a mid-tier role on Barack Obama’s national security council, consulted for WestExec Advisors (an Obama alumni-founded outfit linking tech firms and the Department of Defense), was a fellow at the Center for New American Security (CNAS), had some defense contractor ties, and married someone who’s also in the game.

Then there’s this:

Nuland’s husband is Robert Kagan, an overtly neo-imperialist historian and hawkish foreign policy commentator at the Brookings Institution. And when it comes to Queen Victoria-the-Troubling, it is that “married to someone in the game” bit that’s particularly unsettling. Enter the neocons Kagan: a family of fiasco artists.

Worth reading if you have the stomach for it. Beats watching Bernie freezing on a cold stool.

Looks like scheerpost and Brookings Institute publications will be a convenient pair to monitor for a while.

Biden unveils anti-COVID plan:

"Among the executive actions Biden signed were the reimbursement of states for using their national guard to help with COVID-19 relief efforts; a 'full scale wartime effort' using the Defense Production Act to increase the volume of essential medical items being manufactured; and an order giving schools funding for the resources they need in order to safely reopen.

"Another goal of his first 100 days is a 100-day 'mask up' challenge. Noting that medical experts have predicted Americans wearing masks could save 50,000 lives by April, Biden said he had ordered a mask mandate on federal property and that another order would soon follow for inter-state transit on buses, trains and aircraft.

"'It’s a patriotic act,' Biden said about mask-wearing. ‘They’re the single best thing we can do … more important than the vaccines.'"

So, like China, treating it as a wartime threat almost one full year after China instituted just such a response. But I really doubt we'll see anything like 1 million people vaccinated daily over the first 100 days. I won't be one since my vaccine of choice--Sputnik 5--will likely be barred from the nation. Also, enforcing the mask order will take people to enforce it; and I guarantee there'll be plenty of pushback.

Biden seems to understand whereas Trump didn't that prevention constitutes a suite of actions. That there was no federal liaison office to coordinate efforts between the feds and states under Trump is yet another piece of evidence of his treasonous response to the pandemic. But to negate a further rise in Populist resistance, Biden will need to turn the direction of the federal government 180 degrees from what it's been doing for the past 40 years, and that's going to be very difficult since his masters won't allow such action.

In addition to my #89 above:

The passing of Sheldon Adelson is an exemplar of why the USA needs to liberate its political parties from foreign interests:

Missing from the Trump eulogy is any mention of what Adelson did for the United States, which is his country of birth and where he made his fortune engaging in activity that many would consider to be a vice. In fact, Adelson was all about the Jewish state, positioning himself as the principal funder of the Republican Party under Donald Trump and receiving in return as a quid pro quo the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement (JCPOA), the move of the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, the recognition of Israeli annexation of the Syrian Golan Heights, and a virtual concession that the Jewish state could do whatever it wants vis-à-vis the Palestinians, to include expelling them from Palestine. Adelson once commented that Israel does not have to pretend to be a democracy but it must be Jewish, presumably to help the process of Arab genocide move along.

Adelson’s mechanism, initiated under George W. Bush, is familiar to how the Israel Lobby operates more generally. It consisted of the exploitation of the incessant need of campaign money by the GOP, which Adelson provided with strings attached. He worked with the Republicans to completely derail the admittedly faux peace process begun under Bill Clinton, which depended on a two-state solution, and instead give the Jewish state a free hand to implement its own unilateral Greater Israel Project extending from “the Jordan River to the Mediterranean.” As part of that expansion, Israel has been building illegal settlements while also bombing and killing Lebanese, Syrians, and Iranians and assassinating scientists and technicians throughout the region.

Everyone missed the story yesterday. Biden drove to the inauguration through a continuous cordon of troops. No one saluted him as he passed.

.
.
.

Biden insulted them by taking away their ammunition.
.
.
.

The US military was already a shambles. The Democrats have no idea what they have done.

This puzzles me. This notion that US footsoldiers for empire have any dignity and honor to begin with. That their opinions matter at all to the elite whose political entertainment they serve.

These men and women gave up their free will to serve as pawns for the elite to commit murder for the aristocratic families of the American empire.

If Biden has indeed taken away their ammunition then he has done the world a favor ... I doubt it though, there always seems to be enough ammunition to bomb the innocent and police the opium fields of Afghanistan.

Please don't lie to yourself, the US military has been "in shambles" since before they were butchering the native Moro of the Philippines.

They may turn their backs to Biden today but they will murder on command as they always have because they were always no more than pawns conditioned by the elite for obedience and not morality.

Therefore, as always, where they turn their backs does not matter. They turned their backs on humanity a long time ago.

There's actually a law saying no foreign monies are allowed to be accepted by those running for office in the USA at any level. This was used by Seattle to remove most corporate monies from their elections. I reported that event here at MoA and hoped it would get copied elsewhere, but it clearly didn't. It seems only people, not the political parties, want to get money out of politics and have corruption-free elections.

Scott Ritter speaks and is quoted at steelcityscribblings:

Blinken’s focus on confronting both Russia and China underscores the blinkers he and Biden are wearing when it comes to articulating how they would define and execute American foreign policy. Here, the observations of both Putin and Assad bear notice.

First, there is virtually no daylight in terms of substance when it comes to Trump’s confrontation of Russia and China and the policies proposed by Blinken. And second, by pretending that a Biden administration would be any different that Trump in this regard, Blinken only reinforced the reality that Trump’s greatest sin from a foreign policy standpoint was not the substance of his policies, but rather their presentation.

The European Council on Foreign Relations survey suggests that Blinken faces an impossible task when it comes to his stated objective of repairing US-European relations. There is no appetite in Europe for a return to the kind of bipolar world that defined the Cold War-era – Europe simply will not join in any US-led effort to face off against either China or Russia in such a black and white, good-versus-evil type confrontation. Europe, according to the survey, is likely to remain neutral in any ideological conflict between the US and either Russia or China (or both).

Worse, from the perspective of the US and the Biden administration, Europe is more likely to take its cue from Berlin than Washington, DC. While many observers view these trends as a symptom of four years of Trump’s “America First,” the reality is that they are linked to a deep-seated disease that has infected US-European relations for years prior to Trump.

Interestingly Germany is moving toward a new leader that has the appearance of being not so infatuated with the USAi. I guess there will be herculean efforts by the USAi to smash or 'convert' that emerging leader at the next election.

The Jewish Insider was livid with the inclusion of Hannah Arendt to Trump's list:

Hannah Arendt ‘would be appalled’ to be included in Trump’s statue park: “Trump is everything she hated,” said Arendt expert Roger Berkowitz

I disagree with Mr. Berkowitz: Hannah Arendt is right at the place she deserves to be.

thanks for that perspective so much.

"Another way to look at this is we just saved billions attending to the social costs of fossil fuel extractors, and ended crony capitalist support for an industrial megaproject which dispossessed indigenous peoples and polluted their land. Natgas is and has been a failing industry. It exists because of extensive government handouts..."

a Canadian friend of mine here in Mexico quoted 5,000 jobs to me this afternoon; the extraneous costs, social and environmental, are very rarely if ever considered under Finance Capitalism.

To my mind, conservatives and economists, especially the libertarian-leaning types, focus on the 'jobs' aspect of things, that mantra, to the exclusion of all other considerations, however considerable are the other costs and drawbacks of all this fake 'progress' and reliance on overly-technological solutions to social and human problems.

I was especially glad about the Keystone shut down because of the Standing Rock and other native american/progressive protests about abuse and invasion of their tribal lands and waters.

Someone in Biden's earpiece told him to salute the marines, and Biden just repeated the words "salute the marines," because he is so used to just repeating what comes from his earpiece.

The marines were not saluted.
