Al-Qaeda's Number 2 Killed In 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 ... 2017, 2020

From the mouth of Mossad:

The United States and Israel worked together to track and kill a senior al-Qaida operative in Iran earlier this year, a bold intelligence operation by the two allied nations that came as the Trump administration was ramping up pressure on Tehran.

Four current and former U.S. officials said Abu Mohammed al-Masri, al-Qaida’s No. 2, was killed by assassins in the Iranian capital in August. The U.S. provided intelligence to the Israelis on where they could find al-Masri and the alias he was using at the time, while Israeli agents carried out the killing, according to two of the officials. The two other officials confirmed al-Masri’s killing but could not provide specific details.

The story is laughable. If any important al-Qaeda guy had been killed last August Trump would have screamed about it during his campaign from the top of his lungs.

Twelve years ago we already joked about all the fake "Al-Qaeda No.2 killed" stories which appeared in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

There have since been quite a few more of these:

Being Al-Qaeda's number 2 is a dangerous job!

As No.2 one might be media-killed anytime the U.S. seeks a pretext to ramp up sanctions on Iran.

Jack no, literary means talking nonsenses, bullshit, one should be proud of this board and their level of information, all because of incomparable excellent many years of work by b informing his readers.

MEK has an army of troll commenters (you can google for their picture behind their computers in Tirana Albania) paid by KSA to go on blogs most accessible by iranians inside Iran and create doubt mostly among young patriotic iranian students making them feel their country has no future no hope with IRI and eventually making them rebel and stand to their government and the revolution. the minute he showed up with his comment and his tag it was obvious what he is trying to implant, his audience wasn't or is not me in Los Angeles , their aim is inside Iran and among younger HS/college students. As far as i remember this blog has many readers among Iranian students as is accessible without VPN, that is why they are sent here to implant a comment out of nowhere and out of subject.

when you say "Chera Kos e shehr megi" it literally means "why are you talking nonsense" or why are you bullshiting, this a common and younger sort of lucker talk (per Trump description), you don't hear it from females, or use it in their presence

kooshy -- Thanks for the excellent work you do here.

The vital Tehran connection is a MUST-HAVE.

If I were one of China's strategic planners for OBOR,
I would have as many routes to Europe as possible.

Since OBOR is a long term strategic aim to bypass
chokepoints at sea, China will not fail to work on several
land routes in case of obstruction in the long term.

I am looking forward to Iran breaking free of the
choke hold by the great satan.

Also the setting free of the Palestinians after that.

Besides Trump pursuing options last week to launch a military strike on Iran, he's ramping up sanction pressure on Iran and is going to impose a flood of sanctions on Iran to prevent Biden from reinstating the JCPOA.

The Trump administration’s envoy for Iran Elliott Abrams arrived in Israel on Sunday and met Prime Minister Netanyahu and National Security adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat to discuss the sanctions plan.

Abrams will meet on Monday with Minister of Defense Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi to brief them on the plan.
Abrams didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Why it matters: The Trump administration believes such a “flood” of sanctions will increase pressure on the Iranians and make it harder for the Biden administration to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, the Israeli sources told me.

Behind the scenes: In the last several weeks, the Trump administration — with the encouragement and assistance of part of the Israeli diplomatic and security establishment — has prepared a “target bank” of Iranian entities that will be sanctioned.

Abrams said in a closed briefing several days ago that the Trump administration wants to announce a new set of sanctions on Iran every week until Jan. 20, a source who was privy to the briefing told me.

“The goal is to slap as many sanctions as possible on Iran until Jan. 20," an Israeli source briefed on the plan told me.

What’s next: Abrams will travel from Israel to Abu Dhabi and Riyadh to discuss the sanctions plan.

The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are the two main allies the Trump administration and the Israeli government have against Iran, and both are very concerned by the Biden administration's future Iran policy.

Trump is itching to start war with Iran. How I despise this bastard!

Trump sought offensive options that the U.S. could take in the coming weeks, the Times reported, but senior advisers recommended against a military strike that they warned could spark a wider, regional conflict.

Still, the amount of Iran’s nuclear material is far below the level it possessed before signing the nuclear deal, the Times said.

Thank you, yes OBOR, BRI, Silk road, trade routes in general are to connect as many population center as geographically possible to make distant trades viable. Iran historically was and is an important East West and North South trade route intersection hub. even Marco polo traveled the silk road through Iran going east passing through Tabriz in north to Ray(tehran) and then continue east through Pamir to china, interestingly on their way back to Venice, they traveled the indian ocean, and landed on Iran's southern Hormoz port of PG and travel the iranian desert north back to Tabriz, to Constantinople and back to Venice. Meaning they Crisscross Iran both on land and ocean travel to east Asia.

NYT is fake news for at least this past 20 years every month either US and Israel were to bomb Iran before a general at last minute changed their mind, BS. Just this last january Trump was going to bomb 52 cultural sites in Iran before he stopped it in last 10 minutes, Trump and his entire cabinet can suck on it. Actually IMO, NYT supporting Biden is trying to precondition Iran for making Iran to negotiate meaning is trying to scare Iran to come to table, Iranian planers are wellaware of cheap tactics. nobody especially Israel and US wouldn't dare to directly get involved with Iran.

Posted by: kooshy | Nov 17 2020 5:04 utc | 107 -- I agree with your reading that the US will not risk attacking Iran, neither with conventional nor with nuclear weapons. My reasoning is discussed in the Open Thread, at comments 234, 238, 242, part of which says:

Posted by: kiwiklown | Nov 15 2020 11:41 utc | 234 -- "If I were Iran, I will assume that any US attack will include a ganging up by all US allies in the Middle East, plus the usual European useful idiots. Whether or not that is true, my war plans will include putting missiles on Saudi Arabia, Israel, and surrounding oil fields. My objective will be to collapse the trillions of USDs founded on oil derivatives, and through that, the West's financial & banking system, leaving ally Russia free to sell oil after the fracas subsides. I wonder which nation will better endure the ensuing pain? a nation adapted to living under sanctions last 40 years? or an Evil Empire (the great satan) running on fumes? an Europe suddenly cut off from Mid-East oil? or a Russia suddenly freed from OPEC+ 'obligations'? and is that why China has been stockpiling oil, making friendly with Iran, and so on."

Posted by: kiwiklown | Nov 17 2020 9:31 utc | 242 -- "If the US reaches for the nuke button, Iran's dead man's hand will cause the desert to erupt with a thousand missiles.Yes, pain will be all around, but when the (nuclear) dust settles, Iran is no more; Saudi Arabs reverts to the Stone Age; the Palestinians finally get good weapons in their hands (I heard that humiliated Middle Easteners are something fearsome); Israel is pushed into the sea (the ganging up can go in the other direction too); the Evil Empire crumbles after a bitch slap for the history books (otherwise known as the Mother Of All Headaches); Turkey is running around like a headless turkey trying to screw both sides, but held back on a leash by Mr Putininski; and so on."

And that is why the US cannot, will not attack Iran. Americans don't like Soleimani-headaches. Israelis don't like to swim in the Meditarranean. LOL.
