Moon of Alabama Brecht quote
August 13, 2020
United Arab Emirates Betray Palestine

U.S. President Donald Trump just announced that the United Arab Emirates and Israel "agreed to full normalization" of their relations and that they will "establish reciprocal embassies".

In exchange Israel will "suspend declaring sovereignty" over parts of the West Bank land that it, for all intent and purpose, has already annexed and controls.

Here is the term sheet Trump posted. It is headlined as a "Joint Statement" of the U.S., Israel and the UAE:

bigger

While the UAE and Israel have been in bed together for decades they never established formal relations.

This will create waves in the Arab world. It is treason towards the Palestinian cause and its supporters. The Arab boycott of Israel was always supposed to press Israel towards recognizing the rights of the Palestinians. Netanyahoo had claimed that he could make peace with Arab states before making peace with the Palestinians. The UAE has now proven him right.

This is a huge political success for Netanyahoo. His previous moves to formerly annex parts of the West Bank were never serious. But he has now used that to 'pay' for a deal that is a much bigger win for him.

This is also a huge success from Trump's perspective. His many pro-Zionist voters and donors will show their gratitude for this.

The announcement does not say what the United Arab Emirates is expecting to receive for the deal. It may claim that it stopped the annexation of the West Bank but that annexation would not have happened anyway.

UAE's ruler Mohamed Bin Zayed seems to disagree with a detail that Trump posted:

محمد بن زايد @MohamedBinZayed – 15:00 UTC · Aug 13, 2020

During a call with President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, an agreement was reached to stop further Israeli annexation of Palestinian territories. The UAE and Israel also agreed to cooperation and setting a roadmap towards establishing a bilateral relationship.

"Setting a roadmap towards establishing a bilateral relationship" differs from the claim in Trump's term sheet that the parties "agreed to full normalization".

Netanyahoo also seems to disagree with Trump's declaration:

avi scharf @avischarf – 15:36 UTC · Aug 13, 2020

This is hilarious. Senior Israeli source now says Israel still committed to annexation and that Trump only asked for a temporary freeze until peace deal with UAE is signed. Seems like Bibi is afraid of losing the settlers and his base in case we are heading for elections.

It is likely that there will be protests in Arab countries against this step. Support for the Palestinian cause has weakened in the younger generation. But for many older Arabs it is still a very serious matter.

As MbZ has nothing to show for the huge gift he is handing to Netanyahoo and Trump the rage will concentrate on him.

Comments

You want your consciousness offended but wide awake? Then bite on this bit!
FYI, everyone betrayed the Palestinians even Palestinian leaders, and the Zionist Saudis were the first, followed by Egypt, Jordan, UAE and so on and so forth. All including we, subjects, here.
Sunni Arabs are as bad as Zionists only with half the latter’s brain mass.
Annexation or not, because let’s face it: the West Bank is already annexed with Apartheid rule, and Israelis are hoping for a Palestinians’ revolt i.e. Intifada so they have an excuse to further decimate with their slo-mo genocide and cleanse and disperse a million more Palestinians and make them someone else’s problem until they get that monkey off their back and believe me they’re succeeding.
The only country on Team Palestine is Iran, and Iran is screwed too.
Now let’s stop dreaming and pretending there is any hope for Palestinians when they have sticks, stones and tin cans and Israel has the 4th largest military and best networking on the planet and the Zionization of most of the glob called Earth is also almost a done deal.
Time to face reality. Palestinians have become a human rights tragedy hobby for a small minority of Jews who want others to believe they have a conscience while secretly desperately whitewashing the stain their legacy comes with, with a kind of public self-loathing and continuous momentary revival of a corpse to make even the corpse hang on to give meaning and purpose to these more humane Jewishness. It’s wrong. You know the truth. Stop peddling an illusion that peaceful resistance would get Palestinians rights on their land and that your goal is to help them achieve the pipe dream you concocted to make you feel better. Your goal is to help yourself believe that your ilk is at heart incapable of such a grotesque crime when nothing could be further from fact!
Now can the rest of us admit that we live in a world that mostly doesn’t give a damn for the lesser among us and that we will eventually die and leave this same declining-into-depravity world intact. The Palestinian cause is not another South Africa you can rescue when you have most of the world zionized, therefore thoroughly corrupted.
Welcome to hell where “humanity” is on the decline and on the road to extinction and where the best among us will not survive this Century and will not be replaced.
Accept it, otherwise I have a bridge to sell that you can jump from and end the agony of reality sooner.

You paint a bleak and realistic picture. However, think on this: The zionist occupation called “israel” is merely the 10th incidence of a phenomenon called “The Crusades”.
And like past crusades, this too shall pass …

LOL! Why that’s the best comment I read from you in all the years I’ve hung out here with this alias and two preceding ones.
Congratulations on the inspiring breakthrough. 😆

Some prefer to battle windmills in their imaginary world.
Im not always happy about it.

More fun & games as Erdogan wades into the fracas, “Erdogan Threatens to Sever Diplomatic Ties With UAE, Close Abu Dhabi Embassy Over Deal with Israel”:
“Turkey is looking at suspending its diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, close the Turkish Embassy in the capital Abu Dhabi, and recall its ambassador over the deal that the UAE made with Israel, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday.”
Meanwhile, Turkey continues to threaten Greece:
“Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Friday that if Greek forces continue to “attack” the Oruc Reis, his country will retaliate.”
And Erdogan is also rumbling about France after it dispatched additional warships to aid Greece in the fracas noted above:
“French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that Paris will reinforce its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean in conjunction with other European states, including Greece. The military boost will include the French frigate ‘Lafayette’ and two Rafale fighter jets.”
The slowly developing cat fight over the gas located near Cyprus and elsewhere in the Eastern Med combined with that centered on Libya could lead to a battle between NATO members. Then there’s the ongoing intrigue within Lebanon and Syria. Plenty of channels to watch!

Abu Dhabi Sheikh already allied with Israel’s Netanyahu [Jared Kushner] to defeat Democrats in 2016 … just a next step for 2020.
Of course Cambridge Analytica was in a way linked to Cambridge and Alexander Nix … with new corporate change to Emerdata, do the Mercers give recognition to Abu Dhabi Sheikh of the Emirates? Should we ask Erik Prince?

Very interesting article regarding the UAE deal, especially because it broaches the Iran angle and the Turkey-Iran-Qatar alliance which has been discussed a lot recently. I include the below quote because it is typical of the neighbours in the Persian Gulf – no matter the tensions they seek to keep relations functional and productive.
UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash:
“This is about the UAE, Israel and the United States, this is in no way meant to create some sort of grouping against Iran,” Gargash said in a phone interview. “We have a very complicated relationship with Iran. It’s a neighbour but at the same time we have differences about Iran’s regional policies.”
Would just like to add that imo while it will and has damned the agreement Iran is extremely pragmatic and will not allow relations with any country to be detrimentally effected. It would not surprise me if UAE had given Iran forewarning, they’ve had plenty of time to discuss it.

Netanyahu ..need[ed] to change the media headline of the day. Israel just put the annexation on temporary hold and the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi agreed to a “Road Map towards peace and diplomatic ties.” As Jared would describe such a meeting: “a nothing burger.” Original article on Israel Defense website …
Amazing findings change the story of the Beirut blast https://www.israeldefense.co.il/en/node/44662 by: Oui @ 4
Thanks for the report I have annotated the following paragraph is taken from the report
It [the finding of 11 mini blasts before the big bang in Lebanon] also is in line with foreign media [claiming] they had knowledge to show ..that under the “regular” warehouses at the port where the fireworks and ammonium nitrate were stored <= was an underground city operated by Hezbollah, [and attempting to say that the report confirms allegations that =>]the real “owner” of the main Lebanese port, [with this inuendo=>]apparently with warehouses and tunnels, [and even suggesting that 11 explosions prior to the big one =>] whose remnants were shown clearly in [foreign media]reports. I saw such data from the report confirms none of this.] Its a report which shows in graph form, recorded seismic results collected at 6 different networked sites all seismic events occurred just prior to the big explosion see. https://www.israeldefense.co.il/en/node/44662
My read is the report provides solid physical evidence published by creditable, informed source but nothing reported suggests Hezbollah, Israel or anyone else, to be a cause.
I have a question not really related to the report? When media misleads the world about catastrophic events, has that media committed a crime against humanity?
Are misleading content framing and distortions of facts or circumstances in private media meant for public consumption<= crimes against humanity? When media lies about an event, distorts the parameters and facts of the events, or inserts unfounded speculative claims, especially in the early days after important catastrophic event, can the owners of such media be guilty of a crimes against humanity? It will be interesting to watch as the ICC develops its humanitarian court law under the theory of universal jurisdiction. So is a lie, perpetrated in public media, which is designed to, or which actually does, incorrectly frame, mislead, indite or control something or someone, for which there is little creditable supporting evidence, a crime against humanity? And if so, are the owners of such media not personally liable? There is no more important justification for making media owners guilty for content which furthers the cause of, or which hides the source of, crimes against humanity. The first crime does not excuse the 2nd crime. . also I disagree with the statement in the report that "Since the findings could also raise the possibility that the ammonium explosion was caused by bombs placed by entities from Israel, Israel Defense conducted a check that concluded without a doubt that Israel was not connected in any way to the chain of events in the disaster. The most senior Israeli officials heard about the disaster from the press, like everyone else.. " I don't see how the reported findings eliminate, name or appoint the party or parties responsible for causing the chain of explosions, I don't even see that the evidence in the report proves the explosions were caused by the chain of explosions. AFAICT there is no evidence presented to indicate what actually detonated the Ammonium Nitrate or the planning that brought about the cause and its anticipated result? Somebody is going to have determine if those 11 smaller explosions actually did set off the Ammonium Nitrate. Most certainly the findings do not exempt the fabrication media from violating human rights by telling lies that exploit the situation.

As regards Erdogan’s response to the UAE agreement it’s difficult to take seriously, to be honest. He’s been aggressively lambasting UAE for the last couple of months to the point that there is no longer any love lost between them. UAE is of course happy to provoke Turkey as the weak link in the ‘Turkey-Iran-Qatar’ alliance that UAE sees as a threat. So, for Erdogan then to threaten to remove it’s ambassador ‘if the need arises’ is probably the absolute least he could do and will hardly be taken seriously.
His tirade however is his performing to his own Turkish Muslim Brotherhood who have all but ‘claimed’ Palestine as their own cause, if not their own caliph. Every day there are photos of relatively affluent Turkish youth on holiday in Palestine shrouding themselves in the Turkish flag like Ottoman imperialists. It is a very popular issue in Turkey. Erdogan will use this locally to win favour while in actual fact imo he will do nothing to threaten his position with US or Israel, and nothing to put Iran or even Qatar in a difficult position. If he does, it will be an act of desperation, not statesmanship.

“and to boost the UAE in their fight against Qatar and Turkey.”
Beginning to think that Qatar is distancing itself from Turkey, and if that’s the case this agreement strengthens opposition to Turkey (and UAE is as you rightly point out in that grouping) and weakens Turkey’s position in the Turkey-Iran-Qatar alliance.

He’s nothing if not a Showman! )))
But Turks, and importantly the younger generation are very committed to Palestine – it’s a popular western cause after all – and so Erdogan has the chance to win over some of the younger voters who everyone reports as being at significant threat at the polls. So, expect him to milk it!

Didn’t I already write that Zionists put Trump in power in 2016 and they’ll walk on hot coals and shards of glass to ensure it happens again? Yes, I do believe I did write that it happened, and in other words, they’ll do it again by hook, crook and whatever conniving it takes.
@109 snake
Ever hear of the expressionThe truth hurts; but lies can kill?
IMO, the punishment for the crime of killing with a gun, a knife or any other weapon should be life. But here’s the thing: in this corrupt world, killing someone with a lie, doesn’t count.
Of course you can also kill the spirit with a lie and spare the body. But when you kill the spirit; the body eventually dies with it. Cause what’s life without it’s own oxygen source but, condemned to death?

you mean as in the EU? that construct was imposed on Europe, specifically Germany, in order to legally cement it’s defeat in WWII without having to re-declare war on Germany as the Geneva Conventions would dictate. It is simply a primitive trick in order to perpetually occupy Germany and prevent it from becoming a strong nation state. It thus directly refutes your wishful thinking.

“Appoint Sergei Alexander Rudakov as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Lebanese Republic,” the document says.

Well, one would say the “High Representative of the Russian Federation to Lebanon”, as I creatively on my part and possibly out of European deformation of mind, deemed the title of the post ( and for which I was deemed unworthy to post here by an obvious troll totally dedicated for a week or so to get me out of posting here by looking with magnifying glass whatever falw could appear at my comments sometimes made in a hurry minutes before going surfing…relying totally on memory…), equates more or less the powers implied to the outpost…

DeQuincey if you haven’t already you might want to check my links (I had to correct the first one) on page two of the open thread for better seismic data (one can get research quality level data as well if one figures out their request system) which is from “CY606” listed on your page.
To all:
The Israeli story is pure nonsense, the “explosions” are just background seismology which comes and goes at regular intervals as is obvious from all the charts and even from listening to the small audio representations of the seismology.
Again: I’m not a seismologist and not aiming to be one either! 😀
All of this sort of stuff belongs in the open thread… if it belongs at all on MoA (I’m talking about the Israeli and CIA etc. shit people insist on dragging in with them).
