‘Mostly Peaceful’ Rioting And Looting Is Helping Trump’s Campaign

The Civil War of 2020 continues apace.

2020

bigger

After three months of continuous clashes in Portland between Antifa rioters, who hide behind peaceful protests, and the police, the mayor is finally concerned about the damage:

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said Wednesday he hasn’t done enough to focus on damages caused by some city protests over the last three months and the fallout from coronavirus. He called on the community to help him come up with better solutions to city issues.

During the last months the Magnificent Mile in Chicago was looted – twice. Yesterday new riots and looting occurred in Minneapolis after a rumor of another police killing incited some people:

Police Chief Medaria Arradondo tried to dispel rumors that spread on social media about the death of the unidentified Black man, who was suspected in a Wednesday afternoon homicide and fatally shot himself on the Nicollet Mall as officers approached several hours later. His death, which was captured on city surveillance video and released by police within 90 minutes, nonetheless sparked protests and unrest in the heart of downtown.

The video confirmed the police account of what happened and showed the man glancing over his shoulder before pulling out the gun and firing, then collapsing to the ground as a half-dozen witnesses ran away with their hands in the air. The officers, one of whom had his gun drawn, shooed a remaining witness away and kicked the suspect’s gun away before performing chest compressions.

Last Sunday police in Kenosha, Wisconsin proved to be too incompetent to arrest a man they had already had under control. They shot him 7 times into the back when he was trying to get into his car. Nights of rioting followed. Buildings were burned down and businesses were looted.

Yesterday a white teen with a semi-automatic weapon had the stupid idea to join others in 'protecting the businesses' in Kenosha from further looting. He ended up killing two people and wounding more after he was attacked by some of the rioters. The teen was arrested and he is facing charges but I doubt that he is guilty of more than sheer stupidity and manslaughter in self defense.

The cycle of violence will likely continue. There are too many racist in the police and the level of U.S. police training seems to be abysmal. There is also too much tolerance for violence within the general community.

Politically this plays into Trump's law and order campaign. The Democrats have lauded Black Live Matters and the protests but have hardly spoken out against the rioting and looting that comes with them.

This CNN chyron from yesterday evening is an expression of their position:

bigger

'Mostly peaceful protests' are like the 'moderate rebels' in Syria – propaganda constructs that do not exist in the real world. The people who owned the burning cars and whose businesses were destroyed will not be relieved by such phrasing.

Joe Biden's attempt to swing Republican voters to his side has failed. At the same time he has rejected many of the issues progressives favored. This will hurt the election turn out the Democrats will need. Add to that the unrest which plays into Trump's hands. The Democrats who fear that are right:

“There’s no doubt it’s playing into Trump’s hands,” said Paul Soglin, who served as mayor of Madison, on and off, for more than two decades. “There’s a significant number of undecided voters who are not ideological, and they can move very easily from Republican to the Democratic column and back again. They are, in effect, the people who decide elections. And they are very distraught about both the horrendous carnage created by police officers in murdering African Americans, and … for the safety of their communities.”

Trump, of course, is positioning himself as the antidote to urban unrest. "So let me be clear: The violence must stop, whether in Minneapolis, Portland or Kenosha," Vice President Mike Pence declared in his Republican convention speech Wednesday night, with Trump looking on. "We will have law and order on the streets of this country for every American of every race and creed and color."

Republicans had chided Joe Biden and other Democrats for not calling out the violence in the aftermath of the Blake shooting. Biden immediately addressed the shooting, but didn’t condemn the ensuing violence until Wednesday in a video posted on social media.

Despite Trump's failure to bring the pandemic under control his job approval rating continues to be high while Biden's lead in the polls is shrinking. The United States seem to have a higher tolerance for avoidable death by guns or viruses than other societies have. It is not the only point that makes it exceptional.

@492 antispin
There were 8 shots fired in the first encounter…the first was from a handgun fired into the air by someone about 25 feet behind Rittenhouse, then Rittenhouse fired 4 times, all four hit. After that there are three more handgun shots from somewhere nearby.
In the second encounter, after Rittenhouse fell, he fired 4 more times, the first two at a black dude who was attacking him, those missed. After that, one shot for the skateboarder and one shot that disarmed the guy with the handgun.
Shortly after, as Rittenhouse was leaving the scene, someone behind him fires off two shots, at which point Rittenhouse turns around and fires two sets of three shots into the ground.
In total Rittenhouse fires 14 times, 6 were warning shots, 6 hit their target, and two miss.

@ 502 juliania… thanks for your perspective as always! i think these events are actually quite significant, no matter who does the framing.. the george floyd death, followed by this with the exposure and sense that something is wrong in the usa with regard to it all – no matter how you define it – it seems pronounced to me…

@Suzan 87

Most of us trying to survive and if possible thrive under adverse circumstances made worse by a predatory system all about “profit” with little concern or consideration for everyday people.

The only way you can “thrive” in a corrupt society that worships greed and individualism on steroids is by joining the ranks of those who are killing it. Put another way, the only way for a person to “thrive” under a fascistic system is by becoming, at the very least, an implicit fascist sympathizer. Of course the obvious question is why would anyone even want to “thrive” in a society based on values they despise?

james @ 504,
Yes, indeed to your observation that most posts on this thread stem from a sense that something is wrong here, and attempts are being made to see what that something is. I had a thought if we’d had the internet and such a thread as this when RFK was shot, or when MLK was shot,or even when JFK was shot earlier – the comments would run into the thousands, millions maybe. That comparison which karlof1 raised has helped me realize: in this case, many posters here are younger, and this scenario, though not as bad as any of those to my mind, has that irrational tragic ongoing-ness about it — the need to view and view again the videos of people dying,(as simply as that, poof, they are gone; we can handle it because by watching we shall get it right) and if we can only get right who was to blame…
I stopped watching videos when I realized I didn’t know if what was being filming was actually happening. And I couldn’t get used to seeing violence. My kids laugh at me because I don’t even like to watch unreal violence in movies. I have seen enough violence with the deaths of our leaders. That was enough for one lifetime. A video or movie isn’t war, but it makes war on your senses; I believe that. Be very careful, people. Your emotions are being fine tuned in ways you do not control.

@ 508 juliania…. the video i saw of the 2 police officers at jacob blakes car with him getting in the car and then the one officer proceeding to shoot him was really disturbing.. even with a backdrop to what happened on this – it is very disturbing looking and suggests the police are guilty of manslaughter at minimum… the riots proceeded out of this event… a curfew was in place, but a protest took place – with who knows what else happening, but the main event that everyone is taking away is the young kid – 17 years old from antioch, Illinois – about 15 or 20 miles away from kenosha – went to the area and shot a few other people dead… the colour of the people seems to matter a great deal as, if you don’t know the colour of the people, you are not able to make sense of it according to some… i am not sure just how much i want to dwell on this but in the first instance jacob blake is black and the police are white.. in the 2nd instance the 17 year old kid is white and the 2 people he killed are also white…
it seems like the colour of a persons skin seems to matter in all of this – to a point… the reason i and others say this is due the police response in the 2 different instances.. so it becomes a question over police actions, mixed with a question over the actions of the 17 year old…. it is a volatile mixture that is coming on the heels of the george floyd death which is also a story of white police officers responsible, or not – depending on your thinking – of the death of george floyd… both instances involve white officers killing or shooting black suspects – whether intentional or not – the optics look very bad… and the bigger context is also complicated.. what to make of it?? the optics look bad as i see it.. it is hard not to see it as different responses from the police based on the colour of a persons skin… i think arby or maybe it was anti-spin who articulated this fairly well earlier in the thread…

Posted by: james | Aug 30 2020 5:21 utc | 508

it was arby who posted what struck me as fairly stark and disturbing…
” I wonder what would have happened to Rittenhouse if he was a black man? \
I also wonder if that was so how these last 400 plus posts would have read.
“Jacob Blake potentially resisting arrest- ambushed & shot 8 TIMES infront of his children
Kyle Rittenhouse illegally armed at a BLM protest. Peacefully walks around police after murdering two people.
White people will still deny racism and white privilege”
Also up unti I think , yesterday, Blake was shackled to his bed while paralyzed and heavily sedated
Meanwhile Rittenhouse just went home.

Black man shot by police – attempted murder I’d say .. rabble join protesters for the rioting and looting… shops burned down .. what have those shop owners got to do with the cop that shot the black man? … militia come in to protect shops .. the rabble that are there for the burning and looting attack an underage militia member .. empire in late stage of decay.

If Jacob Blake were white there’d have been little mention of the incident in the media, and what little there would have been would have focused on his arrest record, his propensity for beating the mother of his children and his resisting of arrest. There would have been zero social unrest and riots. And there certainly would have been little or no comment from the idealogues and pretend anti-racists at MOA.
Why? Because its a “Dog bites Man” event.
Rittenhouse killing a riotous child-rapist, a riotous serial domestic abuser, and wounding a riotous falsley-surrendering armed robber, all of whom were part of a mob who would most likely have killed him if he had not killed them first, is what’s known in the newspaper trade as a “Man bites Dog” event

Instead of fighting each other, as the US working class ( including soon about to be impoverished deluded “middle class” here…)is impeled to do by TPTB, you should turn to this kind of “fight”…
PHOTO, VIDEO: They install a guillotine in front of the house of the first tycoon to amass more than 200,000 million dollars
Installing another in Mar-a-Lago would put The Donald on notice….
I find most necessary, in a war, to first identify the enemy…otherwise you are making the class war easy to win and almost at free cost for the billionaires and TPTB… who keep profitting from your taxes even in the middle of the pandemic…Recall the astounding transfer of money to them by The Donald around the first days of declared pandemic…They are all together in this, Democrats and Republicans…
Of course, whenever there are people who only thinks in the now and immediate tomorrow and so are willing to accept easy little money for betraying their peers ( only drug addicts and similar people lost of itself, plus ignorant teens, could do this…),you have all this staged street fight and shootings…Pay attention to the illumination of scenes in the videos circulating…way too Hollywoodense to be real…And the extras do not even act well…as usual…they do not even simulate worrying or fear…No such ammount of mainly young people would remain in the viccinity of a possible shooting ( by witnessing armed people, especially too young, around…)without running for their security and self-preservation sense…No such ammount of people behaves that suicidal way unless they know in advance there is no danger…or have passed a time in an MK-Ultra facility…which could be both…btw…if we talk about the US…
BTW, the other day was published at Stalker Zone blog another version ( different from the official one…) about the events in Jonestown, Guyana, which took place decades ago…
The US Supports “the Right of the Belarusian People To Self-Determination”
Consider the not so astounding possibility, due the historical behavior of your secret services, that Kyle Rittenhouse could have been pre-conditioned to go there and make a carnage so that the people who wish to cancel elections because are fearing losing them could have their “heavenly hundred”…The other “protesters” on the opposite side could be also pre-conditioned…since both parties in contest have the same economic and foreign policy…
Anyway, hatred has been sowed in enough quantities through decades of US existence to not needing too much sparks…
You thrived on imperialism, supremacism, racism, and plain fascism…at home and around the world…it was a matter of time that the chickens would come home to roast..

Someone finally starts to get it. Yes, Hollywood. Hollywood has been conditioning all of us for quite some time.
Now take that insight to the video of the Blake shooting. No muzzle flash. No smoke. No recoil. Target is less than one foot from muzzle, there is no splatter, no splash back. And supposedly 3 shots missed. And victim is still alive. Shooter is soft and pudgy, seven rounds in two seconds from a S&W .40 and he is fresh as a daisy. Pure Hollywood.
But amateur Hollywood. No one shows the least emotion. All wooden. Note the woman in loud orange print pants who is running towards car while shots are still being fired. She got in front of her cue.
I will agree with your point about the KR shooting, the numbers running around with no fear of all the weapons on display. Note how remarkably well-lit that scene is. Note how KR calmly walks to the phalanx of police and Guard vehicles. With a long gun on full display. Long gun in his hands. Anyone else that would be suicide by cop. They knew who he was and knew he was coming. All scripted.

I asked a question here yesterday night, about US streets illumination…
Tell me, mate, is it the custom at any Us village/city to have such cannon lights spread over there so that common night life looks like a film set?

https://twitter.com/Ruptly/status/1298842194002890753
I am asking because the custom here in Europe is medieval level of illumination in the streets, on the grounds of “vintage” promoted fashion, but in fact out of unending austerity measures…

There are places in US commercial strips that have amazing lighting so we are not 100% here. Also there are better cameras that produce very good images in low light. So not 100%.
But in general anything even close to those videos would be rare. Even in places where that lighting exists it will normally be turned down late at night when shoppers and traffic are done. Simply because it is expensive. To keep lighting that good and keep it consistent also requires high maintenance, which is just not done in depressed areas like Kenosha.
The full rendition of color in those videos is unlike any other I have seen with street lighting. I am not even convinced what we see is all one take on one night. If you view backgrounds closely you will find an act of homosexual fellatio, one man standing, one man kneeling, that takes place under the lights with gunfire all around. Shows up in multiple videos. This is a joke inserted by the director, nothing like that would happen, wouldn’t matter how many drugs were being consumed.

David Dorn was murdered while trying to stop BLM/Antifa looters.
David Dorn was an ex-Cop who also happened to be black.
No riots, no protests from BLM/Antifa, no Democratic politician nor media outrage, nor more relevantly any sympathy or comments of outrage from the alleged “anti-Racists”, idealogues, and bleeding heart pwogressives at MOA, for David Dorn.
Daniel Schaver was killed by Police officers while unarmed and attempting to comply with conflicting commands. There was video of the event showing Mr Schaver doing everything possible to attempt to comply with the stupid murderous police officers stupidly conflicting commands.
The police officer was found not guilty by a jury and “was reinstated to the Mesa Police Department in August 2018, then over a month later was granted retirement on medical grounds, as well as a pension of $2,500 per month.” (Wiki)

Another inconsistency would be the case of Gaige Grosskreutz, the man shot in the arm. In the video his entire bicep has been blown off and the rest of his upper arm is raw meat. A very grisly scene. Somehow the wound is not pumping. Somehow he is sitting up. Somehow he is still holding a pistol.
Three days later he is on Twitter with a fully closed wound. The wound is in the crook of his arm, not the upper arm. He is shown having use of the arm. He has a tattoo on his upper arm that is fully intact. A tattoo right where the video wound was centered. There is very non-medical looking dressing over part of the wound that is colored black. Under the black dressing is a tube that does not appear to be functional.
Can a German speaker here tell if the name Grosskreutz is likely, or if it might have some particular meaning? The name Gage is very uncommon in US, I have known just one man with that name and he would be 110 if still with us. Have never seen Gage spelled with the extra ‘i’.

Making a distinction between mere survival and mental configurations which transcend samsaric conditions. I reject the meme “survivor” as it seems to reinforce the unjust system, not transform it.
There is more to humans than just surviving adversity, much more. In struggle for justice we are not mere “survivors” but define ourselves and so make decisions re what thriving, at certain time and place given individual circumstances, consists of.

They seem more concerned with demonstrating idealogical purity and their ability to spout mindless dogma for hours on end, and have managed to fool themselves and others into believing that those things are equivilant to actual intellectualism and intellectual honesty

Dominic Black identity confirmed … he moved to assist Rittenhouse
1) I have determined that the head of the militia that Kyle was with that night is Dominic Black.
In my comment @Aug29 23:04 @472 I raised the questioned two who the two armed men were in two different videos.
I reviewed the video that shows Kyle’s fall in the middle of the street. The armed man captured on video that is heading TOWARD Kyle has the same shape and carries the same equipment that is worn by the leader of the militia that Kyle was with.
=
2) We know from the official complaint that Kyle called “Dominic Black” after he shot the first victim. Now we know that Dominic Black moved down the block toward Kyle to support him.
Kyle was not on his own. He was “working” with the militia and was directed by the militia leader. Kyle communicated and coordinated with Dominic Black/militia and they moved to support him when he was in trouble.
<> <> <> <> <>
The connection to the militia will be raised as an issue by the prosecutor and/or families of the victims.

On Kyle’s “trigger discipline”
We hear people praising Kyle’s “trigger discipline”. However, while young Kyle was composed enough to not shoot into the crowd, when we look closely, this 17-year old actually had poor trigger discipline.

  • He shot Rosenbaum 4 TIMES at close range.
Did he really need to shoot him so many times? Wouldn’t once or twice be sufficient?
  • The black man that kicked Kyle while he was down.
Kyle shot at him twice and missed. But this man’s momentum was taking him past Kyle when Kyle shot at him. The threat was passing. Kyle shot anyway.
  • Huber – who hit Kyle with a skateboard.
Huber’s interaction with Kyle was very awkward. The hit he gave to Kyle with a skateboard appears to be a glancing blow (nothing major), he then stumbled, retrieved the skateboard while off-balance and then his attempt to regain balance was taking him away from Kyle when Kyle shot him through the heart.
  • The man with the handgun
Here Kyle showed great discipline and amazing aim. He didn’t shoot the man when he hesitated and then wounded the arm with the handgun instead of a taking kill shot or shooting him multiple times.

<> <> <> <> <>
Rosenbaum and Huber might still be alive if Kyle had the kind of trigger discipline that we might expect from a professional. Kyle’s shooting was much better than one would expect from most teens – and even most police officers – but no one should be pleased that young Kyle was placed into a riot situation nor should they encourage other 17-year olds by calling Kyle a ‘hero’.

When you have values…instead of guns…How to be a principled blue collar…without need of supporting Trump…even in Indiana…
https://twitter.com/AngelCodonRamos/status/1300151978446684161

Larry Bird, who grew up in an environment of extreme poverty and with a very difficult family situation in rural Indiana (in a town called French Lick), became an idol of the working USA or “blue-collar”. An early bloke who has three wonderful anecdotes. I open thread:
1-During his first years in the league, people were surprised because he was very badly dressed, with a lot of propaganda clothes, even from local businesses. When asked, he said, “I’ll wear whatever they give me. It’s clothes. It’s free. I’m not a model.”
2-During his time in the Celtics he used to drive a very sober vehicle. A journalist asked him why he did not drive a Ferrari or a Mercedes like his colleagues, and he said: “If they give me a Mercedes I will drive it delighted, but I don’t see myself paying $75,000 for …
..a car. In fact, I think the only option to have a $75,000 car and not make a fool of yourself is to get it as a gift. “Mind you, these things were not because of a stingy guy (which too), but because of the value of things. the last…
3-When the Dream Team was preparing for Barcelona 92 in a luxury resort in France, some players went down to the bar for a drink. Bird ordered a beer, got it, and was told it was $ 7. Bird was outraged and returned the beer saying …
“Have your fucking $7 beer.” The guys laughed and offered to pay it for him, but Bird (who was obviously a millionaire) replied, “There’s no way a $7 beer tastes good to me. It would taste like a scam at $6.”
Is it true that he injured his back helping his father in the land work?
Several times. In addition, he had to reduce her father several times also so as he did not mess it up at home or in bars, since he was an alcoholic and with depression problems and such. He committed suicide when Bird was 18 years old.
To Reagan when he invited the Celtics ring champions to the White House, he replied that he will pass of going, and that if the president wanted to see him, he already knew where he lived.
True, Parish and Maxwell refused to go because the Reagan administration was creating racial tension. Bird offered to join them, literally, so that the racists could not make noise with the matter against black players.
He once said that “in the community we were so poor that all we had was class consciousness, although almost none of us knew what that was.”

When in Indiana there was not only “Proud Boys”…

Bill Walton and Larry Bird, NBA myths, and Dinah Bird, Larry’s wife, at the museum dedicated to the legendary American socialist Eugene V. Debs in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Thus, I learn from this story that Trump may be trying to imitate his admired Reagan playing the racial tensions card…as a last resort after unfulfilling all his 2016 electoral promises and disastrous management of Covid-19 pandemic….A clue on who could be behind this dangerous, for the people, theater…

“I have officially resigned from the Kenosha News effective immediately because of this headline and response from my boss,” Thompson wrote. “I can stand for being unemployed. I cannot stand for this.”

Kenosha Police Already Had a Reputation
The most interesting info:

  • The armed so-called citizen militias have reached out to both the police chief and the sheriff and asked them to deputize them. Sheriff David Beth, in one of my favorite quotes from him all week, said his reaction to that was, “Oh, hell no.” The Kenosha city police chief, though, is the one who hasn’t commented. I emailed and asked, “Did you cooperate with them?” because they sent him a personal message. He won’t answer that question.
  • I talked to a street medic the other day. And she was trying to walk through that very same area to get to her car that evening and was not allowed to pass. She is Native American and Japanese. And she said the exact place where Kyle Rittenhouse, a white man with a large gun, walked, she had tried to go and was turned away. So I do think that at least some in law enforcement saw these men as their allies or at least as not a threat.
  • …way back in 2004. Michael Bell’s son, whose name was also Michael Bell, was shot point-blank in the head in front of his mother and sister in their driveway. Kenosha Police Internal Affairs did their own investigation and within 48 hours cleared those officers of any wrongdoing.
… since 2004, the police have not had a great relationship with basically anyone in Kenosha. Michael Bell, who was shot in the head and killed in 2004, was white. And our review of fatal police shootings in Kenosha since then shows that the majority of the people that police have fatally shot are white also.

As I suspected. Most of the nighttime rioters are from out of town:
According to Kenosha Police, most arrested during protests are from out of town
I saw and shared here the aerial photos of downtown Kenosha. The town is minuscule. Rittenhouse himself crossed its urban center north to south and then back in less than two hours (in which time he murdered two people). Everybody there knows everybody. It’s very unlikely an inhabitant of the city would have the courage to burn down his own neighbor’s local business (of which, probably, the arson himself would depend).
The most likely scenario is that, with the rise of inequality and crescent deindustrialization of the USA resulted in a huge mass of delinquents (millennial and gen-z unemployed and non-student population). These delinquents became then a semi-nomad band of raiders and troublemakers, who’s using the recent political polarization as a vacuum to do what they can do best.
That’s also why the local militias are getting so much popular support within the city: deep down, they know the arsonists are from outside of the town.

@ Masked Marvel 446
Only time will prouve you right or wrong.
For now let me just dispute your optimism.
Since Day 1, Trump has been courting local police forces and WS far right militias. His political strategy in the present campaign has been to pre emptively denounce election fraud against him. A vast majority of his electors believe that rhetoric. He has done everything he could to fuel the escalating climate of confrontation.
All this, of course, may just be Trump’s theatrics. But he’s likely a little more consistent and power hungry than you claim.
To be fair, pretty much the same could be said about Dems, whose leadership has protected itself from internal rebellion by hiding its political mistakes behind Trump’s un legitimacy. A strategy that leads to not accepting another defeat, especially in the actual insurrection climate.
Does anyone really want some sort of civil war over the presidency? I doubt it. But is it avoidable, if no one is prepared to back down?
The answer probably lies within the interaction of two prarmeters, leadership’s will and opinion pressure. In that regard the reaction (what we’ve seen in this thread is telling) to the recent escalation to murders will be crucial.
One more thing, you hope that business interests of US’ real ruling class will tamper Trump’s (or Biden’s) March to folly. In principle you would be right. But nowadays’ policy of Fed’s raining dollars gives a much more importance on who’s holding the presidential seat.

james @509: “I wonder what would have happened to Rittenhouse if he was a black man?”
Indeed! I am interested in what you would think if Blake had been white and Rittenhouse had been Black.
Of course, you would have never even known of the incident in the first place if Blake had been white, and there would have been no rioting either. Reporting on that would not reinforce the hysteria about racism being an identity issue that the capitalist mass media has been deliberately cultivating for the last couple years.
In fact, American police shoot more white people than they do Black people every year, so there absolutely have been white people shot by cops over the last month, but you have heard nothing of it and commented on it even less. Had Blake been white, would you have noticed that he was resisting arrest? Would you have noticed that he was heading for where his weapon was located?
Now about Rittenhouse: Try to imagine that he was Black and armed like the Black Panthers and in a Black neighborhood to protect that neighborhood from rioters. Would you dismiss the threat posed by an angry mob chasing that teenage Black kid down the street, knowing he was a Black Panther?
Of course I am not asking that you or anyone else respond to these questions because it is 100% expected that those in the grips of the mass media’s manufactured hysteria will emphatically claim that they would not respond any differently, Black or white. Such people are masters of their own minds, after all, and unlike everyone else, they are not controlled by mass media’s coordinated narratives, right? This post is here not to get people to try and think how others might respond if the situation in Kenosha were reversed, but rather to get people to question how they themselves would respond differently. It is best if people don’t answer because hopefully the need to rationalize their opinions will be less acute to themselves than to strangers on the Internet (yes, I know, flawed assumption!).

Trump’s Kenosha visit: Will He Invoke the Insurrection Act?
There reasons to believe that Trump will invoke the Insurrection Act which will mean martial law in a dozen or more US cities.

  • Trump’s insistence on going to Kenosha over the objection of the Governor and Mayor;
  • Trump’s storming off to avoid questions about violence from his supporters (See my comment @Sep1 1:32 #558);
  • Telegraphing from Democratic criticism: “Do you feel safe in Trump’s America?” The two establishment Parties work together … to advance establishment goals.

“In fact, American police shoot more white people than they do Black people every year”
Its not just “more whites killed than black” which would be expected given that blacks only make up 13% of the population
Proportionally the cops kill more whites than blacks. For every 100,000 stops of white people, more are killed when compared to 100,000 stops of black people.
The BLM, AntiFa media and Corporations want people to think that the opposite is true.

No idea. You should go find that out if you’re so curious.
But the recent protests and riots have been in the wake of cop-caused deaths of black people but not of white people, and not because of mere traffic stops.
So the comparison of deaths per 100,000 cop-interactions, broken down by race is quite relevant, and demonstrates that the basic BLM/AntiFa/Media/Corporate narrative, that black people are particularly singled out for death by cop, is simply false.
And pointing out the hypocrisy of people like yourself arby is just as relevant given Gruff’s comment posted above. Naturally of course, being a bigotted hypocrite, you have nothing to useful to say in response to his comment

Posted by: Contra-Conspiraloon | Sep 1 2020 20:20 utc | 573

@569 c- c…. fair enough…. i think arbys post is quite good as it clarifies what i think is fairly glaring – the 2 different systems and 2 different responses to them – along racial lines… gruff might have a point in that the msm filters out a lot of other bad stuff on police violence towards whites, but this event coming on the heels of the george floyd event strike me as a beginning of the end of the usa empire as it presently stands… trump and biden whether they know it or not – are adding fuel to the same fire here as i see it.. they may think they aren’t, but i think they are… i see no easy answers here…

@james
I don’t think you taken the time to understand Gruffs point which, hopefully he’ll correct me if I am wrong, is that all the outrage is a product of the amonunt of extremely selective media attention given to each incident.
That the media ARE extremely selective is easily demonstrated.
There are tons of commenters here, who think of themselves as independent critical thinkers not easily fooled by the MSM who nonetheless are merely acting on cue, stirred up by the media on command, when expressing what looks like little more than performative outrage.

Posted by: Contra-Conspiraloon | Sep 1 2020 21:14 utc | 577

And then there are commenters like vk for whom the outrage is clearly completely fake, to be turned on or off as as suits him, and simply both agenda and idealogically driven

Posted by: Contra-Conspiraloon | Sep 1 2020 21:20 utc | 578

@ 577 c-c…. in truth, i have not been following what gruff has said closely… but again – i think you are correct…. i don’t believe these events are helpful to the usa… perhaps gruff thinks all of this is intentional as presented in the msm… i would say to that – this…. the george floyd optics were all wrong… the jacob blake optics are also all wrong… if there are similar incidents as gruff suggests of white police actions on whites of a similar nature – i would be curious to see the footage of it.. i haven’t seen anything of this – yet.. maybe it exists.. either way, i think sowing the seeds of division via the racial issue doesn’t need help from the msm.. i think it is already their myself… sure, msm images are powerful….
thanks c-c… i believe i understand what you are saying.. i think it is noteworthy the young 17 year old killed 2 white people… everything about that event strikes me as wrong too.. all of this killing, or use of guns is so needless as i see it and people have their live taken away or put in a state of paralysis indefinitely.. it seems like this is happening to the general public too who become fixated on these horrific events.. i see them as horrific… i would be staying away from these protests… there must be another way to get change that is worth striving for…
i am curious now how you view moving forward here… feel free to quote your previous comments if you have addressed this already..

Posted by: james | Sep 1 2020 21:24 utc | 579

the george floyd optics were all wrong… the jacob blake optics are also all wrong…
—-
James the fact the both those names are so readily recallable by you speaks volumes and confirms what has been said by myself and Gruff.
I mentioned Daniel Schaver further up this page, and his death was every bit as egregious as the two you have so easily been able to recall and name, yet i have no doubt the name Daniel Schaver, and the circumstances, and optics because video is available, of his death by cop, is unknown to the vast majority of those expressing outrage and or protesting the deaths of Floyd and Blake.
The media gave it almost no attention whatsoever preferring instead to promote exclusively potentially racially decisive incidents. There’s no accident in that. Not possible for that to be inadvertent.
The media is clearly intent on creating the impression that death by cop is massively sqewed against black people when in fact what data is available says different.
Neither Trump nor Biden are leading this drive toward racial divisiveness. Both are merely reacting to events. Its clearly corporate and elite driven. Its because a multiracial populace starkly divided on racial lines is easier to control than one where the races are aware who is really trying to pull their strings

I said from my first post on this that a 17 year old going out to a problem area with a loaded, got that loaded assault weapon is insane. I can’t see how anybody can see that differently. His parents who probably have been pounding guns and hate and fear into his head since he was born should be arrested along with the NRA and the whole system which countenances this insanity.
I cannot see a situation that is more fraught with danger and the definite chance of disaster.

Irrespective of your claims regarding his age, all video evidence indicates that the kid made no aggressive moves toward anyone on the night in question until chased, and therefore threatened, by what turned out to be a crazed mob composed, it appears, in part at least, of people with a proven previous propensity to resort unessecarily to violence.
Had he not been chased by that violent mob it’s very likely no one would have died as a result of any action by him that night.
His age has little to do with it, as anyone of any age faced with the exact same situation would be unlikely to react any differently.
Alhough there’s plenty of blame to be spread around, not least involving the police and the Wiscosin governor’s refusal to supply the requested number of personell, the bulk of the responsibility lies with the ones who decided to chase him, as they clearly had intentions which could never be reasonably described a peaceful. Nor had they any legal right to chase him, irrespective of his age, since they had no way of knowing he was under 18.
But you’re trying to now pretend that your only objection was to his age which is just you simply now trying to shift the goalposts.

how do you believe or think it can be stopped, or is that something you think isn’t possible at this point?

One place to start would be by applying critical thinking, instead of immediately cheering, when bad things happen to people you’ve been conditioned by the media to hate
The recent execution in Portland, and vk’s callous disgustingly bloodthirsty reaction, being a good example. The silence of the outraged performance artists who posted so much outrage in this very thread speaks volumes. They don’t even have the feeble excuse of any blameable action by the executed, to fall back on.

“You did little but that, all threadlong”
My first post on it , no, I did not, I think. I admit that I got trapped into the strawman argument about self defence nonsense.
I see it a bit deeper. The gun worshipping of Americans is lunacy.
The paranoid belief that they are out to get me and I need a gun , is so penetrated in American brains that it is scary.
Those punks might want to break into my house and steal a beer. I better get a gun. The Russians are after me, the Chinese, well of course they are, and then we have Kin Yon Ung, and Xi, and Saddam, and Ghadafi, , fuck even Castro, Maduro. Then there”s those Blacks , Muslims, Commies.
We need more guns, big guns…
Deeply embedded.

@James
This headline from the excerable Guardian is a perfect example of very deliberate media manipulation.
Los Angeles: sheriff’s deputies fatally shoot Black man stopped for riding bicycle
It’s not until the end of paragraph 5 that the Guardian bothers to inform any one reading that far that after fleeing from the officers, the gentleman in question later allegedly punched a police officer in the face and then accidently dropped a handgun on the ground.
That’s a whole lot different than the “Black man killed for merely riding a bicycle” impression the Guardian wants to implant in the mind of the public.
And none of that is inadvertant or “accidental”.
Fleeing from police will get you chased in any country in the world, irrespective of skin colour.
Punching a police officer in the face, especially after a chase, will usually involve you suffering a rather severe beating in any city in any country in the world, irrespective of skin colour.
Fleeing, then face punching a cop, then dropping a gun on the floor might or might not result in death in many places in the world. Some places yes, some no.
I’m not condoning that, just stating how that usually pans out for people who flee, punch a cop in the face and then drop a gun on the floor.
The cops didn’t need to shoot him, and he wasn’t holding the gun at the time do in theory was so longer an active threat. But that’s easy for me to say from the safety of my sofa.
But he certainly wasn’t shot and killed simply because he was riding a bicycle, like the Guardian want us to believe.

And I don’t believe for one second that were he white the Guardian would have written such a deliberately deceptive headline

I agree, nonetheless it’s legal to walk around with one in many US states as long as you’re not openly and actively threatening anyone with it. Rittenhouse, based on all available evidence, posed no threat to the mob of convicted felons who decided to start chasing him.
They alone must accept the bulk of the blame for what happened once they decided to chase down someone posing no actual threat.

People that break into houses rarely confine themselves to mere beer stealing though. Unfortunately.
Some commit rape or murder for example.
Having a weapon available in those circumstances makes some sense at least.
I would have very little sympathy for a shot house breaker tbh.
Rittenhouse’s actions were not based on mere paranoia though. The mob was burning roiting and looting for several nights running. And on the night in question it definitely was out to get him personally. It ain’t paranoia when they are out to get you.
And sad to say, they only stopped rioting looting and burning after 3 of them were shot to death.

Yet again, Contra-Conspiraloon tries to turn our attention to the poor kid who was beset by a mob instead of dealing with the real issues that I identified @Aug29 22:28 #466.
This 17-year old was WORKING for the militia. A militia that had the implicit blessing of the police (the militia leader even claimed that the police were coordinating/conspiring with the militia against the protesters).
Rittenhouse was directed by the militia leader to go into the riotous crowd with a gun. Something that he was not trained for or mature enough to handle. This made the kid into a target for the Antifa thugs that the militia must have know were in the crowd.
The kid is lucky to be alive. Others were not so lucky.
Trump is happy to dance on their graves for political gain.

They would have been a hella lot luckier, and a hella lot less dead, had they not as a mob decided to go and actively hunt a lone individual who was not only not posing any active threat to them but was also armed with a loaded AR15 and also clearly knew how to use it.

Despite all your ranting, Mr Bunnypants, you have yet to even once mention that, let alone delve into why, the Wisconsin Governor refused to provide the number of personnel requested by the clearly overwhelmed local police force, to deal with a clearly out of control rioting looting mob of arsonists.
If you’re looking for conspiracies, Mr Bunnypants, which you always laughably appear to be, starting there might be more fruitful than boring the crap out of everyone else with your “Dominic Black and his Magical Mystery Militia” caper.
Had the Guard been assigned in useful numbers would the Militia have made any appearance at all?

One can only imagine the horror of living in a vk-concieved and operated utopia.
Anyone and everyone free to riot loot and burn at will.
You’d have a hard time convincing any non-deranged court or jury that a mob of crazed rioting looting arsonists and violent felons are having their rights curtailed by being arrested for rioting looting arson and generally creating chaos & mayhem
But you invariably will continue to do you, vk. And after all we all need someone to have a good laugh at in these dark times, so luckily we have you for that right now.

C-C–
” it’s legal to walk around with one in many US states as long as you’re not openly and actively threatening anyone with it. ”
Oh I see, it’s just a dress style.

Posted by: arby | Sep 2 2020 13:40 utc | 597

That’s just me explaining the current legal situation in several US states, to you, arby. Wisconsin happens to be one such state.
I didn’t write those laws, and accept no responsibility for their existence.
And your refusal to apply the same criticisms when your attention was drawn to the armed non-white militia in Georgia, whose behaviour clearly went way beyond what you like to now call ” dress style” is proof once again that not only are you a bigoted hypocrite but your “outrage” is clearly performative.

ha ha ha.
I don’t think anyone ever has called me that.
Give it a rest loony.
If that is the law then the law is an ass.
I think the dress style of wearing your pants below your ass is dumb and the opposite of flattering, but better that than teenagers dressed up with loaded WMD’s.
