Moon of Alabama Brecht quote
August 10, 2020

Belarus, Pulling Bridges, MI6 And Russiagate

When the summer gets too hot German schools release their students early. It is called hitzefrei. It is 33° centigrade (90°F) here today. That may not seem hot for many of you but consider that hardly anyone here has air-conditioners. I will take today off and leave you with the three issues I had considered to write about.

The predicted color revolution attempt in Belarus proceeds as expected:

Tsikhanouskaya, who drew tens of thousands of people to her campaign rallies, refused to recognize the preliminary official results announced by the TsVK on August 10.

"I consider myself the winner in the presidential election," she said in Minsk.

Tsikhanouskaya said her opinion was based on what she called "real protocols" collected at the majority of polling stations, which, according to her, prove that she won the election. She also charged that the official results announced by the TsVK were rigged.

Meanwhile, Tsikhanouskaya's supporters announced they would stage a mass demonstration against the official election tally on August 10 at 7 p.m. (1600 GMT/UTC) in central Minsk.

The opposition in Belarus also has called for a nationwide protest strike starting at noon local time on August 11.

President Lukashenko will not have any of that. The protests that followed yesterday's exit polls announcements were relatively small. Unless the security forces fall apart, which I do not expect to happen, the attempt to overthrow Lukashenko will be defeated.

---

Is the U.S. turning into a third world country? I don't know. But when Chicago has to literally pull up the bridges something is definitely wrong:

The looting seemed to be centered in Streeterville and North Michigan Avenue, but some looting was reported on State Street in the Loop and on the Near North Side. By 4 a.m. police appeared to be getting things under control.

But some vandalism continued into the daylight hours, and the CTA suspended train and bus service into downtown during the morning rush, while the Illinois state police blocked off ramps from expressways. Bridges across the Chicago River were raised, except for the one on LaSalle Street for emergency vehicles.

---

Russiagate, the deep state campaign to disenfranchise President Donald Trump, is further unraveling. The Spies Who Hijacked America is a first-person account that convincingly documents an MI6-linked conspiracy by former director Richard Dearlove, former agent Christopher Steele and FBI informant Stefan Halper to frame Carter Page that led to the FBI launching of "Crossfire Hurricane".

The long read is very interesting but it still does not account for who or what instigated the British spies into launching their campaign against Trump. My hunch is that then CIA director John Brennan was the central person behind it.

"My hunch is that then CIA director John Brennan was the central person behind it."

For sure.

Am going to hunt for my bookmark that references an early meeting between John Brennan and the head of MI6.

@1 found this

https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2019/11/15/the_brennan_dossier_all_about_a_prime_mover_of_russiagate_121098.html

"While Russiagate's exact starting point is murky, it is clear that Brennan placed himself at the center of the action. After the investigation officially got underway in the summer of 2016, as Brennan later told MSNBC, "[w]e put together a fusion center at CIA that brought NSA and FBI officers together with CIA to make sure that those proverbial dots would be connected." (It is not clear whether this was a Freudian slip suggesting the center included Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm hired by the Clinton campaign that produced the Steele dossier of fictitious Trump-Russia dirt – but regardless, it is likely that at least some of Brennan's "dots" came from the firm.) According to the New Yorker, also that summer Brennan received a personal briefing from Robert Hannigan, then the head of Britain’s intelligence service the GCHQ, about an alleged "stream of illicit communications between Trump's team and Moscow that had been intercepted." A U.S. court would later confirm that Steele shared his reports with at least one "senior British security official.""

After reading The Spies Who Hijacked America I wondered which news websites or TV news would report on it. I figured none or maybe very few, maybe a few foreign sources. But so far conservative American media has touched it but other than that? Even foreign news are not touching it. Is everyone afraid of the UK and American secret police? Or are they all paid off? It is a combination of both.

Our host: "Unless the security forces fall apart, which I do not expect to happen, the attempt to overthrow Lukashenko will be defeated."

If Belarus police have been forewarned and have dismantled the sniper unit "death squads" that are a normal part of America's "color revolution" operations like the Chinese did in Hong Kong back in 2014, then the coup attempt will fail. But if the snipers simply have not been given the order to shoot yet then it is too early to say that the coup is over. If there is deadly violence that is attributed to the police then the protests will grow and the police will be demoralized. The Belarus authorities must prevent this from happening by capturing the snipers before they act.

Excellent comment, librul!
Thanks!

I noted a report few days ago that Brennan was advised that he is not a target of Durham investigation! This further cements in my mind that the durham/barr kabuki is simply that=a nothing burger. Maybe, maybe, a minor name or two will be indicted but nothing more.
As your link illustrates, brennan was a ring master in this treasonous coup attempt.

You may be familiar with this site, but this fellow has been following this crime from day one and has a major effort underway (long article but worth a read as it does give "some" hope; he does get a tad dramatic but he has put a ton of work in uncovering these criminals-recommend go back tolook at previous articles):

as for your link on the russiagate unravelling, it was mentioned a long time ago that stefan halper who mysteriously disappeared was indeed an fbi-cia informant...https://disobedientmedia.com/ used to have articles up on this from way back and was where i first remember reading about the question mark around halper, but i see they have gone offline for the most part! i look forward to reading the rest of the article.. thanks..

Just a small correction : Given the size, the US is more continent than a country. Chicago has never been reputated for its safety record. So if you project it as the mirror of US then you will find whatever you want except the wide truth.

lol

So basically Trump was right about how the chaos (they) encouraged when George Floyd died would come home to roost in Democrat cities and a lot of the genuine grievences around policing and Black folk would be exploited by people who only care about so called "Black Lives" every 4 years. Tut tut.

And it seems Trump was also right about Britain and Obama being balls deep in spying on his campaign and there is going to be a lot more coming out over the next 90 days. Funny how characters from Britain are at the centre of both Obamagate and also the emerging peadophile (and possible child torture) evil involving Epstein.

And then to round it all off, two Democrat politicians come out and lattribute Hydroxychloroquine to saving their lives and their loved ones will always be grateful for thus miraculous recovery.

Steve Schrage a Republican political asset ..

It wasn’t Steele’s MI-6 dodgy dossier ... the dirt on candidate Donald Trump was initiated by Republican billionaires Paul Singer e.a. to get Bush III elected president ... failed so the clan supported Rubio ... at last resort the dossier was “sold” to Democrats and HRC.

The investigation contract was taken by Fusion GOS [https://progresspond.com/2017/04/28/timeline-of-passing-orbis-memos-to-uk-and-us-governments/] and they hired Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd. linked to MI-6 Chris Steele and Amb. Andrew Wood because of their espionage work and spy contacts in Moscow of Boris Yeltsin.

Losers ... all of them and America and citizens across the globe suffer from incompetent and corrupt leaders.

On the USA becoming a 3rd world country...

Below is a today Reuters posting that shows some haven't quite got the memo yet

"
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Monday that Chinese-owned short video app TikTok cannot continue in its present form collecting data on Americans on a large scale and the Treasury has the tools it needs to remedy the situation.

Mnuchin, speaking to CNBC television, said President Donald Trump “has made perfectly clear, it’s not going to continue with this in this form.” Mnuchin declined to comment on Microsoft’s negotiations to purchase TikTok.

The trouble we have stirred up for others is coming back on us ...

1. Our seizure of TikTok is nothing more than strong man seizing the assets of a private corporation. We squealed in horror when Putin confiscated Lukoil on tax evasion charges only his claims were actually well founded. The Atlantic ominously intoned, 'foreigners are not going to want to invest in Russia when dictators can seize their assets without due process ...' What exactly is the security risk, the Chinese will know how many U.S. adolescents go to their midschool graduation events?

2. How long before we claim that all of our social unrest is due to foreign NGO's? Kind of hard as we overtly censor all of our own social media and brag about it as well as ban foreign press corp's.
BTW Max Blumenthal has a column in the Grayzone about a westerner faking his ethnic identity and pretending to be one of the oppressed Hong Kong residents who is contacting western MSM as a source of info about China's oppression.
https://thegrayzone.com/2020/08/08/hong-kong-western-media-yellowfacing-amnesty/
I am getting ill reading about our duplicity and lying.

3. Zionist fanatic lies about Hezbollah, https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2020/08/05/hezbollah-hoarded-fertilizer-planned-to-use-it-against-israel-in-nuclear-style-attack-n2573756 "Hezbollah Hoarded Fertilizer That Blew Up Beirut, Planned to Use it Against Israel in 'Nuclear' Style Attack" Katie Pavloch should be ashamed of herself. She intentionally conflates different events to make the reader believe the exact opposite of the facts she presents.
She uses the fact that Nasrallah said that he could have launched a missile attach on Haifa to blow up Israels own stockpile of ammonia in 2006 war to cause a humanitarian disaster but declined to do so to make it sound like Hezbollah was stockpiling the ammonia in Beirut to blow up a city in Israel. Can you possibly sink to a more dispicable low? BTW her target audience fell for it.

I must say that I find it hard to believe that UK 'security' agencies have have the brain power to do anything except follow a US lead. Same applies to the UK government. They may have the ambition, but lack both the resources, the wit and the guts to do anything more. As far as I can tell the UK 'security' services are recruited from the dimmer members of the privileged classes who frequent Eton, Oxford and Cambridge.

Of course maybe that's what they want us to think.

However, the UK government, which to an extent operates in plain view, has shown itself to be cowardly, malignant, corrupt and above all, incompetent. It would be unusual if the spooks were any different.

It's a safe bet the Aug looting in Chicago was done by agent provocateurs, since there hasn't been "enough looting" to justify Trump's fascistic actions.

The right wing in the USA is obsessed with violence in Chicago specifically, so various factions of DHS will have been looking for a reason to send resources to the streets there.

Posted by: Jay | Aug 10 2020 19:02 utc | 20

Regarding the US as a third world country, I would have to agree, but also point out what Murgan, @8 described. Having lived here all my life I would agree with Colin Woodward who wrote the book, "American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America" that we are really eleven nations, which are very, very different, and are quickly growing away from the Federal Government, due to it's ineptitude and corruption.

Chris Hedges also wrote an article about this today over at Consortium News, and as usual his prose is stunning and his outlook very dismal. It is very much worth a read.

My feeling is that the States or collection of states will increasingly distance themselves from DC, due to it's handling of Covid-19, and economic consequences. Ultimately this will break up the Union when they start not paying their taxes, and try to stop Federal troops from entering.

The big question in my mind when will it become evident that we can no longer support 800 bases around the planet, and the trillion dollar budget required for such foolishness?

My own opinion about being a third world country is due to the mishandling of the virus. We have always as a culture been anti-science, and non-rational, which does contribute to the situation. Being anti-science is a direct contradiction of the solution to this problem and in the end the virus will bring the empire down.

@ 21 michael... the virus might be the last straw that broke the camels back, but surely it is a part of a long series of decisions that put the usa on the path it has been on in earnest since at least reagans time... read the article b links to.. it is worth the read... the squirrels will still be their after the empire is long gone... the virus is more like the canary in the coal mine, but no one in power seems to be listening..

Something very odd occurred in Chicago. Very hard to believe police simply stood down while a couple hundred (maybe one hundred) very amateur looters did a fake sack of the city. There are abundant videos posted on social media by looters, they don’t seem to be provocateurs, they seem to be bottom of barrel street life. Could someone with an agenda have instigated this? Sure, but many things are possible.

Property damage and theft on this one probably only six figures, might even only be high five figures. Damage to real estate values and life of the city is a easily in billions, maybe tens of billions. Residents are leaving and will continue to do so.

Would like to say a couple word about the current mayor. All 4’ 10” of her. 147cm. Let’s just say she got the black vote before anyone even knew she was married to a six foot tall Jewish woman who treats her like a child. Or a pet. Or maybe a servant. Shall we say the black mayor does not connect in any way to the black population? Harold would have walked out there himself and ended it by his mere presence. Harold was gay too and in his case it did nothing to diminish his stature, the current mayor is a clown and a caricature.

Yes, third world. On way to fourth world.

"I will never understand why any country in this world allows soros' NGO's and NED to operate in their host country! It is an invitation for a coup."

If you try to get rid of them the American ambassador will contact all of his political friends in your country and tell them that this needs to stop. Various political figures will publicly denounce this abuse of power. The government will be marred by all kinds of scandals, most likely they will be accused of working for Putin or China. If the local campaign will not work, New York Times will write a front page article about gay people being summarily executed in your country, or Jews, or whatever. European leaders will voice concern about the presumed abuses, and demand an inquiry. Next, the leader of the free world, or the congress will start some investigation and impose economic sanctions. If that doesn't work, a random minority in your country will suddenly develop an independence movement and the US army will be called to impose peace.

That's nothing new, been sick ever since the starts of Trump's reign. The worst is yet to come China's tit-for-tat had been extremely mild. I expect Xi Jinping show its military capability during 1 October. 1 October is China National Day, you're be seeing another massive show of force, most likely China's newest weapons and an upgrade to Chengdu J-20 engine and next year two more additional aircrafts carriers..

I expect Trump to win this presidential election, a repeat of 2016. Regardless what the polls shows. It's China, China. China this time around... From the Internet it seems more American’s hates the Chinese than ever... and a sample comment from ZeroHedge:

The best call is to starve the CCP into extinction, and then maybe let some successful culture take the helm over there. Or nuke them. Nuking would be cheaper, faster and more effective. Plus, our nukes are already paid for and not getting any younger. Let's use them and buy new ones for later, when we have to nuke China again. China is like leprosy."

Excellent thought bubble!
There are 4x more countries outside AmeriKKKa's "International (pseudo-Christian) Community" than inside it. So we shouldn't have to wait much longer to see a few of these countries "electing" replacements for POTUS and demanding "Trump must step down!"

Maybe the citizens of Venezuela, or another Latin American country under AmeriKKKan duress will get the ball rolling?

Have to wonder at the re-emergence of Russiagate. Seems a major reason for its emergence is to shame voters into voting for Biden. If you do not vote for Biden, you are Putin's useful idiot. In particular aimed at African Americans. Recently a NYT reporter claimed that it was Russian mean tweets, etc that caused a very dramatic drop in African American turn out in 2016. See screen shot by Aron Mate as the NYT reporter deleted the tweets.

https://twitter.com/aaronjmate/status/1292637512813481984/photo/1

Looks like the DNC may be very nervous about Black turnout after Biden's many racial gaffes. Imagine Black turnout if he chooses Susan Rice as his VP. The DNC may have to go to Putin to ask for his help.

Since b cast aspersions on Western 'intelligence' agencies in a recent post, it dawned on me that they're probably ALL fake, Top Secret & unaccountable. It's reasonable to assume that they don't need to exist. Since we don't know who they are, and they're NEVER allowed to speak on their own behalf, it would be cheaper, easier and more fun if the Top Security wonks just got drunk, sat around a conference table dreaming up implausible crap in a brain-storming session, and then voted on the winning piece(s) of tosh?

When people rant about Americans becoming an Anti-science or Anti-rationalism I'm always shocked that they never make connection that Americans are increasingly anti-science/rationalism as a direct result of the US become a more centralized, bureaucratic technocracy where common citizens have no influence upon the government which is constantly dictating to them. The government trots out their preferred "experts" on whatever subject (medicine, the economy, trade, foreign relations) they want to lecture the people on. This by itself who be fine, the problem though is 1) these policies clearly are failing to improve the lives of the majority of the common people (i.e. the Chicago school of Neoliberalism) 2) many aspects of government policy are clearly corrupt and lying on many subjects (Iraq WMDs, the Clinton foundation) and 3) the government and big tech are actively working to suppress other sources of information (youtube & googles purge of the independent media like globalReseach).

Simply put, scientists, doctors, scholars and other experts get their legitimacy to advise on a subject from the trust of the people, if a corrupt government cherry picks experts based on their support for what the government already wanted to do and these policies fail, then the people's trust in science or rationalism will decline (especially if alternative views are so blatantly supressed). When experts become shills for corrupt governments and their policies, the legitimacy of all experts suffer. Obviously, governments (even weak ones) have huge resources to push failed narratives forward, but eventually when that push fails or weakens, the push back will be all the stronger and it will steamroll over a huge segment of the sciences (In 15 years I think "elite" US universities will see their attendance halved).

Spawn of the Dossier

Were you aware that the Steele dossier had a significant other?

"Rep Devin Nunes:

“You may remember that the State Department was involved and there were additional
dossiers that weren’t the Steele dossier- except that they mirrored the Steele dossier.
And we think there is a connection between the [former] president of Brookings
and those dossiers that were given to the State Department.”
"
...
Also from article:

"
The “additional dossiers that weren’t the Steele dossier” addressed by Nunes
is a reference to a lesser known dodgy dossier produced by Brookings-affiliated
journalist Cody Shearer (brother-in-law of Strobe Talbott) which was crafted
explicitly to validate the wildly unsupported claims found in Steele’s dossier.

H.Schmatz @31

The stenographers at the Washington Bezos Post and the New York Langley Times probably already had the articles announcing Tikhanosvskaya's assassination by Putin ready to go. Now they are scrambling to come up with something else to put on the front page. I am sure they are disappointed.

She should request to the authorities to have her identity hidden now and try to disappear. US State Department "opposition candidates" who can only get single digit support in elections are completely disposable and they are often more valuable dead (which the CIA is happy to arrange) as an embarrassment to the election winners.

Good move by the Belarus KGB to know that was one of the "color revolution" tricks that the empire would try.

@29 re Taibbi, spy vs trump thing

yea who knows where he is at. burn the brits, ass covering for some of the higher ups in obama-biden admin?

also still useful, simply because the debunking of the steele dossier was never really accepted, despite nigerian-scam levels of absurdity from day 1. so maybe there's that.

interesting that he got taibbi to sign on. poor guy is liable to get gagged as a result.

one other thing it does do is throw new allegations into what might have been the conclusion of the Flynn case. That thing had been dragged out by every conceivable stratagem. i can only guess that the continuation of those legal proceedings is an excuse for one corner of the executive to counter-investigate another. they all seem content to have it go on, so perhaps it will.

as far as politics, if covid continues (as it will if states proceed with in person schools in the fall), it don't matter.

I know it sounds wacky to those of you who still put some store in MSM nonsense, but I still believe that what we know as "Russiagate" was a carefully planned operation to:

  1. initiate a new anti-Russia McCarthyism -
    after Trump's election, MSM repeated Russigate accusations about Russian meddling every night for months;
  2. elect MAGA Nationalist (Trump, not Hillary!) -

    as Kissinger had called for in his Aug 2014 WSJ Op-Ed;

  3. discredit Wikileaks/Assange;
  4. lead to a vindictive settling of scores with Assange, Flynn, Manafort.

Also: It's likely that Skripal was the true "primary sub-source" and that he was drugged because he planned to flee back to Russia because he realised that he knew too much. He knew that the "dirty dossier" was meant to be untrue and easily debunked. It would never actually tarnish Trump - only Russia. Not surprisingly, Trump's MAGA Nationalism has been strengthened by Russiagate allegations while the anti-Russia sentiment remains.

What happend in chi was kinda strange. Cops shot a man who pointed and shot at them. Social media was then flooded with posts saying cops shot a little girl which was obviously fake, there was small protests becuse of that then like a caravan of cars went to several locations and just looted. Maby online trolls wanted to fool black people into over raction? Or cops let some shit go down. Strange times indeed

The 3rd world has descended upon Eugene Oregon. Large homeless encampments exist in city parks, on freeway and bridge ramps, and along river banks. Yesterday I drove by a ramp that was lined for 100' or so with left behind debris.

The local thugs, er cops, regularly sweep these areas, but it's just shuffling chairs on the rapidly sinking disaster-struck liner America. We got heavily armed right-wing militias backing the storm troopers, er cops, at BLM protests, brandishing weapons, etc.

And in another sign of 3rd worldism, we are in a civil war with these racist deplorables, and Trumpism in general.

What engine upgrade? Are you referring to the WS-15? Thus far, only one new aircraft carrier is being built in Shanghai unless you're also including the 3rd LHD/LHA.

As for online comments. Don't be surprised if these comments are computer generated which requires control of the platform itself. If a platform can't be controlled, it gets banned. Although there are people that do think like this, it's best to keep an eye on the larger picture. The current economic situation shouldn't surprise anyone to see an increasing number of Americans who no longer have access to the Internet. I've noticed drops in online presence over the years and I expect this trend to continue. Living expenses or internet is what most are facing today.

@23 James

I read the article and yes it does read like a cross between a court intrigue and a Saturday Night Live skit. I've always been a fan of Robert Parry, so I followed this closely through his stories since June, 2016, and found the entire thing to be preposterous.

I would at times complain to my wife about this, and she would tell me that no one she encounters gives a s*it. She meets with country folk everyday as a part of her job, and their concern is primarily of survival. The entire business of DC is as far from them as the moon, as they have much more immediate concerns. I now agree with her.

Another reason I think the virus may be the downfall of the US is that short of a miraculous vaccine appearing, conquering the disease will require continuous cooperation between individuals to protect each other, and that type of behavior has been pretty much extinguished from a great deal of our culture in the past 40 years.

Since the "Age of Greed" in the 1980s everyone has been programmed to lookout for him/herself. In this culture psychopathy and narcissism are richly rewarded and necessary to climb the "ladder of success". The end result are politicians who ONLY look out after themselves, and cannot think beyond their stock portfolios, and people who do not understand the need to take care of each other, even if they do not know them.

Also, people have been programmed to think emotionally and not rationally. The result is magical thinking, and an inability to understand the value of cooperative efforts without being called a "Commie".

Recently, I had a chance encounter with a corporate type who spent some time in Japan, and he complained about the Japanese being brainwashed into wearing masks, and I understood his inability to think beyond his dogma and understand experience and culture.

This results in what Chris Hedges describes. People will eventually learn, but by then the horse will have left the barn, and a lot of people will have died unnecessarily.

"What engine upgrade? ..."

Started my careers in commercial aviation, ended up in military aviation. I lightly touch Lockheed C-130 Hercules, Douglas A4, Hawker Hunter and so forth, finally left aviation for good, glad I did. Aircraft's designers always engine falling behinds the airframe designed. China no different she tried to buy or invested in Motor Sich, Ukraine I believe last year long after the Soviet Union broke up. But as usual the American stopped it. I'm not sure if there are any Ukrainians working in China today. I'm retired, spend my time talking bull but not bull shitting.

Yes, J20 is China 5th generation fighter China equivalent to F22. But China powerplants development lagging even with Russians AL-31 engines installed earlier. The latest engine Xian WS-15 is thrust vectoring nozzles engine and like any engineers China never stops trying to improve.

I first came across the two new aircraft carriers in Sputnik, ZeoHedge and further confirmed in MSN and Guardian. These two carriers are built Jiangnan Shipyard outside Shanghai, their hulls assembled simultaneously. The carriers are anticipated with electromagnetic catapults system. There could be another carrier, no sure. Only two nations able to have such a launching system.... yes you are correct The Yank and now the Chinese.... of course China steals, cheats, lied and never invent anything. Right?

"Shanghai unless you're also including the china 3rd LHD/LHA." if you mean helicopter landing craft or type 075 landing helicopter dock? That's old stale news. BTW they are adding more type 075 craft at a very fast pace too...

Waiting for 1 October for Xi Jinping to show his goodies..

You wrote two paragraphs that said nothing. Again, are you talking about the WS-15 or not?

Second, are you saying there are two Type 003 carriers assembled simultaneously in Shanghai? Right now there is only one being assembled in Dry Dock #4. Where is the second one? The modules themselves are being constructed on the Eastern side of the shipyard and it is moved to Dry Dock #4 for assembly. Dalian is rumored to be involved in constructing more carriers but thus far nothing have been seen.

Third, their LHD/LHA (Type 075) is hardly old news. The lead ship has just left Hudong for sea trials. And now there's talk of Type 076 (Type 075 with a catapult) to be in the works.

The You Tube selection that started to play after the link was a USG short movie on the Tennessee Valley Authority. How times and attitudes have changed. People working together and helping other citizens to improve their lives. It's what a democracy does. Fast forward to today where it's every man woman and child fending for themselves. This attitude was fast tracked during the Regan and Thatcher years where there were no longer citizens, but mere consumers, and sold this idea with the peoples money from the selloff of the nations assets to their friends.

There are two Type 002 carriers currently being constructed in Shanghai...one is much further along than the other. Only the keel laying has been completed on the second 002 which is essentially the very start of the process.

There are rumors that a Type 003 has been started, but I seriously doubt it as last I heard the nuclear engines are a long ways off.

Yes, the WS-15 is the engine that is currently under development.

Thanks for the stalkerzone report on Belarus, it's an excellent summary of events.

How this new age impresses me, that we can now count down every one of the color revolution tactics as they were employed in Belarus, and as each one failed or was neutralized by the state. Ukraine showed the way.

The concluding sentences say it all:

Yanukovych in 2014 betrayed “Berkut“. But Lukashenko did not betray his security forces in 2020. The difference is obvious.

I am very glad to hear this.

QAnon groups have millions of members on Facebook, documents show

I suspect we have more than a few here...

QAnon is a right-wing conspiracy theory that originally formed around the idea that President Donald Trump is leading a secret war against the “deep state,” a group of political, business and Hollywood elites who, according to the theory, worship Satan and abuse and murder children. These baseless claims emerge from posts by an anonymous user on a fringe internet forum who goes by “Q.”

QAnon grew out of the “pizzagate” conspiracy theory, which claimed that Hillary Clinton ran a pedophilia ring from a Washington pizza shop. Many of the most popular QAnon groups are also pizzagate groups, according to the leaked documents.

Both pizzagate and QAnon have been implicated in real-world violence, including armed standoffs, attempted kidnappings, harassment campaigns, a shooting and at least two murders — events noted by Facebook as part of its investigation, according to the documents. In 2019, the FBI designated QAnon as a potential domestic terrorist threat.

How do they square Trump's long association with Epstein while allegedly pursuing a "war" against "Deep State pedophiles?" Or is Trump just incompetent at that, too? :-)

Leaked Documents Reveal What TikTok Shares with Authorities — in the U.S.
A glimpse at what the social media platform does in the U.S. underscores that data privacy issues extend beyond China.

Experts familiar with law enforcement requests say that what TikTok collects and hands over is not significantly more than what companies like Amazon, Facebook, or Google regularly provide, but that’s because U.S. tech companies collect and hand over a lot of information.

The documents also reveal that two representatives with bytedance.com email addresses registered on the website of the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center, a fusion center that covers the Silicon Valley area.

And they show that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Homeland Security actively monitored TikTok for signs of unrest during the George Floyd protests.

The number of requests for subscriber information that TikTok says it receives from law enforcement is significantly lower than what U.S. tech giants reportedly field, likely because police are more accustomed to using data from U.S. companies and apps in investigations. TikTok enumerates its requests from law enforcement in a biannual transparency report, the most recent of which says that for the last half of 2019, the company received 100 requests covering 107 accounts. It handed over information in 82 percent of cases. Facebook, by contrast, says it received a whopping 51,121 requests over the same period, and handed over at least some data in 88 percent of cases.

That last sentence... That's *why* Facebook exists. As does Google and Twitter and the rest of the social media giants.

"The long read [...] does not account for who or what instigated the British spies into launching their campaign against Trump. My hunch is that then CIA director John Brennan was the central person behind it."

You're starting from the assumption that our British "cousins" are junior partners in the American hegemon's globalist designs, but in fact American imperialism is a departure from its founding principles, in which willing Anglophiles (Aaron Burr, J.P. Morgan, the Dulles Bros., to name a few—you get the picture) have always subverted efforts by US leaders to break from British geopolitics as formulated by Halford Mackinder, etc., for whom the survival of Atlanticist world power still depends on preventing US-Russia collaboration to bring about a world anti-colonialist order. This oligarchy, whose species memory far surpasses that of the clueless masses for whom they rewrite history, can still feel the burn of Catherine the Great's support for the American Revolution when she refused George III Russia's help suppressing rebellion in the American colonies, or when Alexander II deployed two whole fleets of the Russian Navy to prevent the British from bailing out the failing Confederacy. More recently, Franklin Roosevelt sent Churchill into apoplectic rage when he categorically rejected that racist pig's demand to return her colonies back to Britain at the end of the war.

Since at least the assassination of Lincoln (or earlier, when British soldiers came down from Canada to burn down Washington in 1814) the British Empire and its surviving heirs have always been at the core of efforts to denature America, replacing win-win Hamiltonian economics with a phony "free-trade" ideology increasingly adopted as gospel by "western" economic authorities, and sabotaging every effort by Americans to play a productive, cooperative role with other nations in world affairs. Just like Hillary Clinton and her crazed minions refuse to acknowledge the election of Donald Trump, the Brits never accepted the loss of their former colonies, and have never missed an opportunity to subvert the uniquely American System by which we became a world power—no thanks to any kind of "special relationship" with Britain, which quickly sank its hooks into our finances by establishing Wall Street as an outpost of the City of London, and infiltrating all of our political and economic as well as cultural and academic institutions (Harvard, e.g.) with devotees of that financial empire. True American interests have always been betrayed by Anglophile fifth-columnists aligned with the Brits—more broadly defined as a true oligarchy that goes back to Venice and its alliance with the Ottoman Empire to bring down Constantinople, the gateway to a Eurasian powerhouse which then and now threatens to weaken these globalists' hold over world affairs.

So "Rule Britannia" is still the battle cry of the Five Eyes "intelligence community" as it spins out wild, implausible narratives to demonize every alternative to the necrotic vulture capitalism behind globalist hegemony, which most mistakenly see as an American enterprise but in reality is the essence of the "Deep State" that so-called patriots believe they oppose. Such is these psy-warriors' control of collective awareness, through mainstream media and well-placed mouthpieces, as well as, increasingly, "independent" social media and education itself, that red-blooded Americans who instinctively deplore this usurpation of their sovereignty blame Russia, or China, or whomever, and mindlessly parrot absurd "intelligence community" slanders against any country standing up to the status quo Perfidious Albion has been craftily building since... well, since the day after Yorktown. Any initial skepticism at this historical perspective, protestations that such claims are preposterous and the British Empire died long ago, will quickly fall away as the origin of every fake news item used against the Trump administration is examined, whether paid for by the Democratic Party, the FBI, etc. Consider this a mere primer in a much-needed re-framing of strategic analyses at this time. As Leviathan lashes out in increasing pain at an encroaching multi-polar paradigm of development and growth, its DNA will become increasingly apparent.

My hunch is that the "long read," by omitting this piece of the puzzle, is a bit of a cover-up... or, as they say, "limited hangout."

Paracletus @Aug11 3:24 #61

a bit of a cover-up... or, as they say, "limited hangout."

I concur with that.

I believe that the operation was approved by bigwigs in both the US and UK establishment.

Gina Haspel's presence in London is not likely to be an accident. If the operation was supposed to elect Hillary instead of Trump, I suspect she wouldn't be CIA Director today.

We should not underestimate the angst in 2013 and 2014 at Russia's interventions in Syria and Ukraine. Russian assertiveness showed that their alliance with China was serious.

See my comment @Aug10 21:03 #38 for more.

Here are the updates:

There is one Type 002 carrier currently assemble and another Type 003. carrier in the same shipyard. Originally Sputnik reported - third and fourth "aircraft carriers are having their massive hulls assembled simultaneously" both sport electromagnetic catapults lunching system.

Sputnik source SCMP and SCMP sources spies in China. I was confused thinking both carriers were Type 003. Nope one is Type 002 a bigger carriers than Shandong but same Type number. Shandong was initially designated as Type 001A designed from a finished carrier named Liaoning. I did say there could be another carrier under construction?? Type 004 still in designed stages (almost make another stupid mistake using drafting board instead designed stages, learned drafting on drafting board and slide rule). Type 004, 110,000-ton a nuclear carrier. Most likely specification change before completion.

If you or anyone knows better or latest info please share and share alike...

Good question. I've often pondered it in relation to Ru & Cn and have yet to stumble on a convincing answer. My best guess is that Cn & Ru want the dumbass Yankees to believe as much of their own bs as possible. Thus they subscribe to the meme: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

AmeriKKKa has the equivalent of 40 conventional navies ... Carrier Groups, Battle Groups, blah blah blah Groups, on and on ad Nauseum.
The Yankees are stupid enough to draw comfort from the 'fact' that it'll take a good chunk of a Century for Ru & Cn to catch up - if that's what they want to do.

The Spies who Hijacked America.
Oh... Really? So eminent elements of the imperial deep state are possibly Russian assets (the "Cambridge four") and are possibly "the most effective tools for Russia's disinformation campaign to divide America that Putin could ever have dreamed of". Ha! So all those words of this lengthy part one are deliberate obfuscation and the continuation of a conspiracy that blames Putin's Russia for what has befallen the USA. Richard Dearlove as a double agent? Good grief! This is impossible Jakrabbit territory!!
Let me cut to the chase :
Clinton hired Steele (the Steele dossier) who contacted his mate Pablo Miller who collared his double agent colleague Sergei Skripal-all to acquire tidbits for said dossier. Now just suppose that Skripal is a triple agent, and those two GRU chaps were sent to the UK to exfiltrate Skripal with some interesting information on these Atlanticist /deepstate/DNC shenanigans. Can't happen! Enter novichok.
The poms have a way of getting away with this kind of stuff - have been doing it for their entire history. Lots of conspiring, lots of coverupping. But when the Americans are actively involved I guess things can get complicated.

Aircraft carriers are liabilities in direct peer adversary conflicts, that's true, but the empire will often sic its dogs on adversaries first. It is no big deal to the empire if one or two of its dogs' have their teeth broken out in the conflict - that's Australia or India's problem - and aircraft carriers are useful against those kinds of dogs.

Next, keep in mind that China regularly uses their military for disaster response and a couple modern super carriers can significantly extend their reach.

Third is simply presence. A carrier task force effectively occupies an expanse of ocean hundreds of miles across. They are essentially mobile territorial claims. They are eyes and ears on everything occurring in that territory. A carrier task force is a big enough semi-independent population that it projects the presence of the home society wherever it goes.

Basically, the value of such a sizable voyaging community with its own airport goes well beyond its utility in combat with a peer adversary. If China's carriers survive the concluding episode of the Thucydides trap and the threat of peer conflict recedes, then I think the Chinese will shift the central role of their carrier task forces from military preparedness and posturing to something quite interesting.

I too read that article ("The Spies who Hijacked America") with extreme skepticism. I see in it an effort to rehabilitate America's image and get the popular global narrative about the USA back on a positive track. It is as if the author is trying to argue that the deeper problem with America is not systemic but just something caused by four stupid and crazy guys.

The spies really have hijacked America, but they blew their cover in 2016 and with the following "Russiagate" fiasco. Now a huge portion of the population strongly suspect that the so-called "Deep State" and the mass media is dominated by spooks, which happens to actually be the truth. In order to distract the public and re-establish their cover they need to throw the public a little fish so the public will lose track of the big fish. The spook community needs to sacrifice some of their spook buddies who happen to be the most compromised in order to get the spookiness back for the rest of them.

The good thing about this effort is that they have to sweeten their lies with a little bit of truth to get the public to swallow those lies. In their rush to scurry back under cover, the cockroaches reveal themselves more.

Thank you for that post. re Skripals - it is also possible that the two 'Russian chaps' picked up what they were after (left at a drop by Sergei) and returned to London as planned and then on to Russia that night. When the MI6 imagined rendezvous between the Russian chaps and Skripals failed to materialise and then things went pear shape at the pub, MI6 decided to fix the Skripals. Perhaps they left the 'Russian chaps' alone as it was all too late or too dangerous for MI6 to grab them as well. Perhaps Sergei gave them material that was promptly uploaded and sent home as the two rode the train to London. They caught the 1300 train afaik and the Skripals were 'hit' at 1700 more or less.

But something critical seems to have gone down at the pub and MI6 was not in that loop. Mayhem ensued as the Skripals then walked away to their doom.

Pure speculation on my part as I seek logic in a black ops world.

Thank you for the advice on Susan Rice. Rhodes Scholar data base here for barflies to ponder. See Alumni and Volunteers for a roadmap etc.

Well, many of the islands in America's "Island Chain" containment strategy are populated, so there are political considerations as well as military ones. Of course, the political and military considerations are not separate. If China can demonstrate that they are military equals to the US at least regionally then that will shift the political calculus of the local populations. When combined with economic factors (who the locals are trading with) this can eventually result in US bases being expelled without China having to do the dirty work of rooting the Americans out. We can see this in process in the Philippines already, though China will have to demonstrate significantly more military muscle in the region before the Philippine population feels emboldened enough to risk America's wrath by kicking them out with finality. The Filipinos will have to gain confidence that China not only has the technical and material ability to intervene if the US steps up the bullying, but the will to do so as well.

Note that this doesn't necessarily mean open combat between the US and China. Simply stationing military assets like a carrier task force nearby and flying humanitarian missions into the conflict area would greatly complicate US efforts to terrorize the local population back into submission. This would bolster the local resistance to American occupation and demoralize the US death squads. Note also that America has to officially deny its support of the death squads, so if China downs aircraft and sinks ships supplying those death squads then the US can only grin and bear it, as when Russia started taking out ISIS in Syria.

" Next, keep in mind that China regularly uses their military for disaster response and a couple modern super carriers can significantly extend their reach. "

Using carriers for disaster response ? Should I just laugh or roll on the floor hysterically ?

May I be the first to suggest a captive breeding programme?
As the people's purge of the global oligarchy finally runs it's inevitable course, there is a real serious risk of the extinction of regime-change sock-puppets.
We can begin with capturing Guido the pimp and Jeanine Anez Chavez, then introduce Poroshenko and Tikhanovskaya (we must prevent too much in-breeding).
Then we can send their offspring out on loan to zoos around the world to create a stable breeding population of sock-puppets and ensure their survival.
Their pens will be first-rate, resembling the shady back-rooms and car-parks that are their natural environs, you will be able to pay to feed them palm-heart salad, caviar, and Chandon through the bars.

Fog of War @77: "Using carriers for disaster response ? Should I just laugh or roll on the floor hysterically ?"

I realize that is difficult for most westerners, and practically impossible for Americans, to imagine since for them the military's role is to slaughter as many people as possible. The value of a piece of military hardware is calculated by the body count it can rack up. Using expensive killing hardware like an aircraft carrier in rescue operations? As a relay point for flying in desperately needed resources? Inconceivable for murder-minded Americans.

But while it has been said many times before, it clearly needs frequent repeating: The Chinese are not like you. They don't see things the same way.

Anyway, since hysteria is pretty much normal behavior in America these days, I recommend the "rolling on the floor in hysteria" option. It will help you bond with the CIA clowns who got psychosomatic brain damage from Cuban crickets.

China Outpaces US With Record 133 Firms on Fortune 500 List for First Time in History Amid Trade War

Well, that didn't last long:

‘Not a single life is worth what’s happening now’: Opposition leader Tikhanovskaya says she left Belarus of her own accord

When the results were announced, Tikhanovskaya - who received 9.9% of the votes - claimed she actually had 80%. Lukashenko put her hypothesis to the scientific method and demonstrated she was wrong.

But that wasn't the reason she fled Belarus. After the Belarusian intelligence claimed they had foiled an assassination attempt on her life, Tikhanovskaya quickly realized that the color revolution in Belarus included her in the role of the sacrificial lamb.

As she later admitted (from her safe haven in Lithuania): "not a single life is worth what is happening now". That is, "single life" as in her life in particular.

More politicization of the COVID-19 vaccine by the NYT:

Russia Approves Possible Coronavirus Vaccine Before Completing Clinical Trials

This headline is complete fake news:

1) this is not a "possible" vaccine. It's a definite vaccine. It was registered as such in the due channels, therefore it is a COVID-19 vaccine. That is: unless the NYT is insinuating the entire Russia is a criminal enterprise.

2) they did complete the clinical trials.

And the NYT knows its front page headline is fake news. When you click on it, the headline in the article itself is completely different: "Russian vaccine works ‘effectively enough,’ President Putin said." A much more realistic and down-to-Earth headline.

In the body of the article, there's another piece of fake news. The WHO never singled Russia out in its warning against rushing the vaccine; it warned every country in the world. Indeed, it explicitly warned against the "politicization" of the vaccine - which is exactly what the NYT is doing.

The "Cambridge Four" article is interesting, but I think most people here don't get its great irony: the "whistleblower" Steven Schrage is as much of a clown as the clowns (his word) of what he himself calls "the Cambridge Four".

By the general narrative of the story, this Schrage guy probably was a building up his career to precisely succeed the likes of the Cambridge Four guys. Either by conscience or simply because he couldn't get it, he gave up his "spy career" ambitions to "pursue an academic career" - in Cambridge of all places!

It seems the CIA and the MI6 are still the nest of Old English graduates from Yale and Cambridge - the only difference now is they are get inspiration from Nicholas Cage and not T. S. Eliot.

Will Tikhanovskaya become the Guido of Belarus? Declared to be the legitimate president of that country by foreign interests?

Posted by: Begemot | Aug 10 2020 18:34 utc | 16

Guaido is gradually being forgotten (I put "Guido" as a symptom, then he will be "Guy" and "that guy"), even as he is recognized for the sake of keeping quite sizable stolen Venezuelan property.

Concerning Belarus, it is mostly Russian speaking neighbor of Russia with many deep economic connections to Russia, and quite importantly, it lacks any larger nationalist movements. Historically, people there were always realistically following the state in power that for ca. 400 years was Lithuania in union with Poland (this is quite different with Ukraine history). A sharp break with Russia is not popular, "democracy" is not presenting itself as a shining example in Ukraine (anarcho-authoritarian), Poland (increasingly authoritarian) and in Baltic neighbors (a lot of anti-Slavic nationalism). In short, there is no reasonable prospect of a strategically better outcome than "triangulating" government that cooperates with the West to some extend on reciprocal basis. Looting Venezuela did not have a downside (except for the Venezuelans), squeezing Belarus may push them to unify with Russia, and that could be bothersome.

Yes. The US used the Ronald Reagan carrier extensively for helping with rescue operations during / after the North-Eastern Japan earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. If memory serves the US send 2 carriers off Indonesia after the Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004.

Those things makes perfect mobile bases for helicopters and other rescue material.

@Arch Bungle 67

Yep. never so simple, is it.

Any shift in allegiances has to be generational, with many upper levels of Pakistani govt/MIC educated in the US/anglo system, sent kids to school there etc, and that works fine for them. Noone at any level wants their country to be sanctioned obviously, so Pakistan will continue to try to get something from both sides.

Still I'd say the top level drivers are all pointing in the same direction- Saudi Arabia and US both backing off from sponsor role, US is leaning more to India (with Modi's provocatively Islamophobic government - look at Kashmir!), and Chinese infrastructure development on the table to meet Pakistan's needs, when noone else is offering the equivalent. It's clear (to me anyway) that Pakistan will keep developing its China relationship, and even those there who have good reason to prefer close ties to the US must know it.

As for Iran... to be determined. Failure of Iran-Pak ties means China has more leverage over both. Complicated world.

Just ZioAmerican photo ops for propaganda purposes. It takes millions of dollars to operate a carrier per day. For a military to divert them for " humanitarian " reasons would be stupid. There are far better options.

Re: Brennan
It would be more accurate to say that Durham is not actively pursuing Brennan.
It is really hard to nail the bosses; unless there's a smoking gun paper memo or email, the illegal acts are always conducted by somebody else.
The FBI lawyer that was caught doctoring submitted evidence to cover up Carter Page's status as a US asset is certainly top of my list. Numerous other people in the FBI and possibly Justice department are also included.
And note the goal of this isn't to "catch the perpetrator" per se - it is to prove that the Obama administration did, in fact, abuse its powers to spy/prosecute a legitimate candidate for President during an election year.

to JC et al. Of course we know that the chinese were casting bronze from 1700-1600 BC. What I want to know is how they managed to cast iron beginning in Late Zhou period - +/- 400 - 221 BC. One would need to understand blast furnace process to get the necessary temperatures. But those chinese have no scientific ability - they steal it from others. hahahahaha. The exception country, i.e. 'murka, was still 2000 years away from looking for a tree to descend from when the chinese were casting iron.

Bill Clinton got a Rhodes Scholarship, for example - this is long before he was anybody.
So did Kris Kristofferson.

Which comes first, the scholarship or the getting recruited by the CIA/MI6? Does the scholarship draw their attention to someone or is the scholarship payment for doing them a "favor"? I never quite could figure out which it was.

Almost certainly, at least at one time, the scholarship was meant to come first.

The Rhodes Scholars provide a talent pool for the single organisation that oversees the CIA, Mossad and British Intelligence:

A clumsy grab from James Corbett's excellent documentary `The WW1 Conspiracy` https://www.corbettreport.com/wwi/ provides the entrance to a rabbit hole ...

Gerry Docherty, WWI scholar and co-author of Hidden History: The Secret Origins of the First World War.

DOCHERTY: Rhodes had the money and he had the contacts. He was a great Rothschild man and his mining wealth was literally uncountable. He wanted to associate himself with Oxford because Oxford gave him the kudos of the university of knowledge, of that kind of power.

And in fact that was centered in a very secretive place called “All Souls College.” Still you’ll find many references to All Souls College and “people behind the curtain” and such phrases [as] “power behind thrones.” Rhodes was centrally important in actually putting money up in order to begin to gather together like-minded people of great influence.

Rhodes was not shy about his ambitions, and his intentions to form such a group were known to many. Throughout his short life, Rhodes discussed his intentions openly with many of his associates, who, unsurprisingly, happened to be among the most influential figures in British society at that time.

More remarkably, this secret society—which was to wield its power behind the throne—was not a secret at all. The New York Times even published an article discussing the founding of the group in the April 9, 1902, edition of the paper, shortly after Rhodes’ death.

The article, headlined “Mr. Rhodes’s Ideal of Anglo-Saxon Greatness” and carrying the remarkable sub-head “He Believed a Wealthy Secret Society Should Work to Secure the World’s Peace and a British-American Federation,” summarized this sensational plan by noting that Rhodes’ “idea for the development of the English-speaking race was the foundation of ‘a society copied, as to organization, from the Jesuits.’” Noting that his vision involved uniting “the United States Assembly and our House of Commons to achieve ‘the peace of the world,’” the article quotes Rhodes as saying: “The only thing feasible to carry out this idea is a secret society gradually absorbing the wealth of the world.”

The scholarship is the way to high studies ( in the alleged best universities ) and thus, up through the ladder...
Of course, commitment to the faith is achieved through demonstration that they, through the contatcs inherent with the scholarship, got to arrive in levels which otherwise would had been banned from them, no matter how high IQ....

Another way fo compromising with the system is the socialist system of scholarships of the US Armed Forces, where, as soon as you are willing to study, you can enchain one career after another to go up...all for free...while the rest of the people has to pay...a lot....sometimes the whole existence or most of adulthood without rising the head....

Everybody who has been a someone in the EU has been Fullbright scholarship or similar ( Federica Mogherini....)....The College of Europe is not for indenpendent thinkers...and why Europe is in the state it is...wasting its best minds in alienating tasks....Sometimes you can not take the wave and have to let it past...until the occasion comes...Next wave could delate 50-100 years....if you do not take action.... because they seomtimes hold the grip by implanting yourself a fascist dictatorship which secures anybody who is not from the historic rentier class study anything except trifles....That happened in Spain during 440 years...

Skeletor @17, re

Politics is just a word we use to encompass the nature of our relationships with each other in a society, culture, or civilization. Everything is political, or has political implications. Not being patronizing, and yes this is pretty obvious, even though we say "some things should be beyond (or above) politics."

So, how could politics ever be boring? It is humanity collectively (or dis-collectively) in action.

Politics is intertwined with the notion of justice, and vice versa, and upon reading Michael J. Sandell's book Justice (there's others similar and equally worthwhile) it became apparent why it is so hard to reach consensus in either realm, even before you consider our own dysfunctional or non-functional democracy.

Posted by: vinnieoh | Aug 11 2020 17:53 utc | 98

Seems the Brookings Institute is deeply involved in lots of dodgy doings if the info in this article is credible as it links to the discussion of Rhodes Scholars, such as it is:

"It would here be the height of folly to presume, as some commentators have done, that Talbott’s role in this operation indicates an American guiding hand between the plot to undo the 2016 elections. The fact is that Talbott’s entire life and world outlook have been shaped not by wholly anti-American ideas but rather by British Imperial principles that are programed into the minds of all Rhodes Scholars during his time in Oxford from 1966-1968."

When was Bill Clinton there? 1968-1970, it seems, and Talbott was in Clinton's cabinet. Am just midway through article, but thought I'd post the link so others might read.
