HAHAHAHAHAHA here's thomas chatterton williams, the main drafter of the harper's letter, saying he didn't have glenn greenwald sign it because he was "outvoted on that". HAHAHAHA they "cancelled" glenn in the anti-"cancel culture" letter. LMAO you really can't make this shit up
also LMAO they literally had a whole list of names they "cancelled" beforehand from being able to sign the letter. HAHAHAHA what a pathetic shitshow. here's your proof that these pathetic grifters used chomsky's name for clout and nothing more. what a sad bunch of losers
I actually thought glenn was asked to sign it but didn't out of principle, but of course not. the guy jumps at every opportunity to boost these grifters, he would've definitely lent his name to it, but was blocked from being able to by them. godDAMN this is hilarious
btw who else was on the "cancelled" list and why? which people were deemed too "heterodox" for the likes of chatterton williams, yascha mounk and the other hacks who drafted the letter? good luck trying to get them to reveal that. their grift relies on pretending to be principled
I gotta be honest I liked jordan peterson a lot more than this boring trite shit. these people self-destructed and turned themselves into living memes within like a week of gaining a little bit of attention. jp rode that shit for like months before he hit the wall
also we all know it was bari weiss who blocked glenn for having the gall to expose her long history of censoring people she doesn't like, so you can stop this pathetically transparent feigning ignorance act. god where are you jordan? I WANT YOU BACK THESE PEOPLE ARE SECOND-RATE

1/ Regarding the apparent fact that the Letter’s organizer wanted to have me sign but the luminaries actually in control cancelled me (I was never asked), it’s been obvious from the start that the Letter was signed by frauds, eager to protect their own status, not the principles.
2/ I’ve been defending these principles for decades, as a lawyer & journalist — **not** as a way of protecting honored elites from criticism, but by defending those with no power punished for their views: often by people like those who signed The Letter: Greatest Threat to Free Speech in the West: Criminalizing Activism Against Israeli Occupation
3/ That large numbers of the Letter’s signatories don’t give the slightest shit about principles of free speech & discourse — many have been at the forefront of “cancelling” — but are only petulantly objecting because they now hear criticisms is obvious. Dozens of them are frauds
4/ All that said, that many of the Letter’s signatories are frauds does not impugn the principles they’re cynically invoking for their petty, self-absorbed interests. I devoted our show yesterday to this: it’s the marginalized that need these protections: Elites are Distorting the "Cancel Culture" Crisis - System Update with Glenn Greenwald (vid)

@200 I'm not sure where the Federal forces in Portland stand in regard to the constitution. Has their status been challenged yet? The local police seem to be distancing themselves from Trump's guys.

“The federal officers have their objectives, and the Portland police has our objectives. We don’t direct federal officers’ actions, and they do not direct ours,” Lovell said.>

SO @190, and 191,

Just read a little so far. That is absolutely looney. These people are certifiable. Complete projection.

dh @201--If the Feds in Portland are genuine Feds, then they'll have made the Oath. If they're Blackwater or some other Goons for hire, then they won't have made the oath--unless--they were former military or law enforcement. I should point out that to become a Naturalized Citizen, you must make the oath as part of your qualification, meaning that those folks have a better sense of what the obligations/duties are for citizens of the USA.

On the topic of China vs. Outlaw US Empire, this article about the nature of 5G tech reasons it will be impossible for a complete decoupling on very practical grounds while admitting it will take a few more years for China to become independently competent in that realm:

"In short, although the 'new Cold War', it will not lead to the formation of two parallel technological systems.

"Yet China should realize that geo-competition is irreconcilable no matter who is president of the US. Due to geographic competition, technological competition is also irreconcilable.

"Therefore the technological blockade of China by the US and Europe will probably continue, and China's [sic] must develop new strategies for its technological progress. There is a long way to go.

"China must achieve technological independence in key areas and push for unified technical standards, all while enduring a restrictive environment and peacefully competing with the US.

"China should strive to make breakthroughs in several key technologies like chips and engine technology. The slow breakthroughs in China's engine technology are due to material technology limitations, and China's lack of development in many engineering fields can only be solved with time. Chinese chips are not independent in two key areas: auxiliary design software and lithography machine technology. It may take China five to eight years to reach substantial breakthroughs in these two processes and emerge from its external dependence."

And I'd consider it a very safe bet that China will break that dependence, and likely sooner than the writer expects.

@203 I'm sure Trump can talk his way round that one. Or his lawyers can. It needs somebody with clout to call them fake-Feds. Biden maybe?

An interesting essay that looks at one of the roots related to the problem of "race": "The Long History of How Jesus Came to Resemble a White European." And it's not just Jesus but all the Biblical characters who've been Europeanized. IMO, it's extremely important to consider why the actual teachings of Jesus were deemed radical and in need of suppression, which means we need to look closely at the new scholarship provided by Dr. Michael Hudson and his cohorts at the Peabody Museum. We also must keep in mind the underlying context of that Era and the Class War that was then well over 1,000 years old--Creditors/Rentiers versus all of society--as the histories of Greece and Rome make quite clear.

Dr. Hudson has written he plans to produce two more volumes to complete the saga that began with ... and forgive them their debts. Given the little he's provided in hints and by his past practice, IMO we should expect something bordering on radical as opposed to what's the conventional, accepted history--something akin to Jesus's overturning the money lenders tables in the Temple.

From SO's post @190--- These are the experts the UK bases it's Russia policies on.

"This has been a major Inquiry, spanning a number of evidence sessions with a broad
range of witnesses over the course of eight months, in addition to a substantial volume of
written evidence. We are grateful to those outside the Intelligence Community – in
particular Anne Applebaum, William Browder, Christopher Donnelly, Edward Lucas and
Christopher Steele – for volunteering their very substantial expertise on Russia, which
provided us with an invaluable foundation for the classified evidence sessions."

A hatchet job. They don't even try to hide it.

It's a testament to the deepness of this Cold War - and a warning of where we are headed.

"China is using its technological rise to develop “digital authoritarianism” to conduct surveillance, control the internet and censor information not just within its borders, but around the world, a U.S. Senate report said on Tuesday."

US always projects what it is doing onto others so the piece is worth a read just to see what the US have been up to.

"There is an ongoing battle to suppress Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), a cheap and effective drug for the treatment of Covid-19. Dr. Anthony Fauci, advisor to president Trump, has played a key role.

On May 22, an “authoritative” peer reviewed “evaluation” of HCQ was published in The Lancet. The study was allegedly based on data analysis of 96,032 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 from 671 hospitals Worldwide. That database had been fabricated. The Lancet study was “Retracted”. The objective of that fake study, quoted by the media (as well as by Dr. Anthony Fauci) was to kill the Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) cure on behalf of Big Pharma.

And now, as documented by Fox News, US medical doctors are being threatened by the State Medical Licensing Boards not to prescribe HCQ, an effective treatment for COVID.

“75,000 to 100,000 lives would be saved” if the ban on HCQ is lifted said Yale Professor of Epidemiology Dr. Harvey Risch.

There is media blackout on HCQ. “So much corruption in the medical field when it comes to bureaucrats”.

And guess who was involved in blocking the use of HCQ. Dr. Anthony Fauci, advisor to president Trump."

An excellent view (series of views, actually) of what's going on in Portland streets right now.

AntiSpin @210--

Thanks for posting that link! The video alone puts the AP reports published in the Register-Guard to shame. AP also has a story, , which TIME picked up, about the Navy Vet from Salem whose beating on video went viral, but AP buried his reasons for going to PDX deep into the report instead of in the first few paragraphs. But at least his message wasn't distorted:

"He put on a sweatshirt with 'Navy' emblazoned across the chest and a Navy ballcap, figuring the federal officers would be, like him, a military veteran. He figured they’d listen as he reminded them 'that you take the oath to the Constitution; you don’t take the oath to a particular person.'

"'What they were doing was unconstitutional,' David said. 'Sometimes I worry that people take the oath of office or the oath to the Constitution, and it’s just a set of words that mean nothing. They really don’t feel in their heart the weight of those words.'"

In the front page story, a 79+ year-old gramma tells why she finally went to the protests:

"But that calculus changed for Widman when President Donald Trump sent federal law enforcement agents to the liberal city to quell violent demonstrations a tactic he’s said he’ll use for other cities. On Monday, a masked Widman was in the street with more than 1,000 other Portland residents a far larger crowd than the city had seen in recent days as it entered its eighth week of nightly protests.

"'It’s like a dictatorship,' Widman, a grandmother of five, said, holding up a sign that read: ‘Grammy says: Please feds, leave Portland.’

"'I mean, that he can pick on our city mostly because of the way we vote and make an example of it for his base is very frightening,' she said.

"Far from tamping down the unrest, the presence of federal agents and particularly allegations they have whisked people away in unmarked cars without probable cause has given new momentum and a new focus to protests that had begun to devolve into smaller, chaotic crowds. The use of federal agents against the will of local officials has also set up the potential for a constitutional crisis, which could escalate if Trump sends federal agents elsewhere."

"Allegations" is AP lying when there's video evidence to confirm those actions. And the crowd size as can be judged from in the many pics and videos is well beyond one thousand. Just the Mom's Wall alone was larger than that. On the thread AntiSpin linked to is a letter by PDX mayor Wheeler that's been signed by many other mayors nationwide.

Perhaps the most stunning act of bravado I've seen at any protest occurred with the appearance of the woman named "Naked Athena"--she stunned the goons and made them go away. She gets my nomination for Person of the Year!

This was posted to smoothies blog. Worth watching. Some clown takes a bus hostage and when the actor in chief sprukes a video or film, gives himself up. He surrenders peacefully and is led off. Bus passengers start getting off and are shown where to go.
While the bus passengers are ambling off, an APC rocks up, lets off some sort of flashbang and rambo's that are sitting on the apc like flies on a dead sheep scramble off to surround the bus.

Colour revolution with American characteristics

Five-eyes were somewhat complacent last time, thinking the media would carry the cackling granny into office, but not so this time. The US nationalists are now getting hit with a full on colour revolution.
Perhaps Trump will do an Assad.... only difference being Assad represented his people, whereas the vying forces in the US represent.... what... US domination in different flavors?
