U.S. Will Cover-up Its Own Coronavirus Death Toll

The Trump administration has used the novel coronavirus pandemic to malign its perceived enemies. Now as the U.S. itself is at the center of the pandemic the accusations and lies come back to bite.

On March 21 the Daily Beast reported of an upcoming propaganda campaign the White House was launching against China:

As the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow at a rapid pace in the U.S., the White House is launching a communications plan across multiple federal agencies that focuses on accusing Beijing of orchestrating a “cover-up” and creating a global pandemic, according to two U.S. officials and a government cable obtained by The Daily Beast.

The cable, sent to State Department officials Friday, lays out in detail the circumstances on the ground in China, including data on coronavirus cases and deaths, the local business environment and transportation restrictions. But it also issues guidelines for how U.S. officials should answer questions on, or speak about, the coronavirus and the White House’s response in relation to China.

The talking points appear to have originated in the National Security Council. One section of the cable reads “NSC Top Lines: [People’s Republic of China] Propaganda and Disinformation on the Wuhan Virus Pandemic.”

Soon the mainstream media started to spread the new talking points. A Google News search for the search term "China Cover-up" now finds 449.000 results.

On April 1 Bloomberg was called up by "officials" to reinforce the campaign by attributing the claim of a cover-up of China's case and death numbers to a "secret U.S. intelligence report". That report is unlikely to exist at all because the New York Times reported a day later that the CIA hunt for "authentic numbers" of deaths in China was still ongoing and failing:

So far, to the frustration of both the White House and the intelligence community, the agencies have been unable to glean more accurate numbers through their collection efforts.

We used the Bloomberg report to explain that the case fatality numbers, which China reported correctly, are very different from the total number of fatalities, or excess deaths, an epidemic causes. There was no cover-up by China but naturally incomplete reporting of all deaths. A day later the BBC published a similar explainer piece.

On April 3 the Economist also discussed wrong fatality numbers though it had found those in Italy and Spain: Covid-19’s death toll appears higher than official figures suggest. It also made this snarky cover-up remark:

[W]hen Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico in 2017, America recorded only 64 deaths. A study later found that the surge in total deaths was close to 3,000. Many occurred in hospitals that lost power.

The excess deaths from Covid-19 in certain areas of Spain and Italy appear to be up to three times higher than the officially reported deaths.

As the U.S. is now in its own catastrophic phase of the outbreak the media are finally waking up to the fact that their claim of China's "cover-up" is bullshit.

Today both the New York Times as well as the Washingon Post report that the U.S. is "covering-up" the number of death that the pandemic  causes within its borders. The NYT headlines: The U.S. is undercounting the number of people who have died in the pandemic, experts say.

Doctors now believe that some deaths in February and early March were likely misidentified as influenza or only described as pneumonia.

Even under typical circumstances, public health experts say that it takes months or years to compile data that is as accurate as possible on deaths in infectious outbreaks.

The Post headlines: Coronavirus death toll: Americans are almost certainly dying of covid-19 but being left out of the official count

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention counts only deaths in which the presence of the coronavirus is confirmed in a laboratory test. “We know that it is an underestimation,” agency spokeswoman Kristen Nordlund said.

A widespread lack of access to testing in the early weeks of the U.S. outbreak means people with respiratory illnesses died without being counted, epidemiologists say. Even now, some people who die at home or in overburdened nursing homes are not being tested, according to funeral directors, medical examiners and nursing home representatives.

The U.S.already "covered-up" Covid-19 casualties by not testing enough. And the U.S. CDC will now do exactly what China has done during the outbreak in Hubei province. It will only report confirmed cases and the fatalities thereof. That is exactly the "cover-up" the U.S. has accused China of.

Another Covid-19 story had been used to denigrate Iran when the Washington Post mocked the country about a row a fresh dug graves in Qom that were "visible from space" just like about everything else is:

In Qom, the spiritual center of Iran’s ruling Shiite clerics, more than 846 people have contracted the virus, officials say. Iran’s government has not released an official death toll for Qom, however, where about 1.2 million people live. But videos, satellite images and other open-source data from the cemetery — a vast complex six miles north of the city center — suggest that the number of people struck down by the virus there is significantly higher than the official figure.

Now the rows of graves "visible from space" are coming to the U.S. itself. The Chair of the New York city council sadly announced that the casualties of the epidemic will soon be temporarily buried in public parks:

Mark D. Levine @MarkLevineNYC - 1:33 UTC · Apr 6, 2020

Grieving families report calling as many as half a dozen funeral homes and finding none that can handle their deceased loved ones.
Cemeteries are not able to handle the number of burial requests and are turning most down. 4/

It’s not just deaths in hospitals which are up. On an average day before this crisis there were 20-25 deaths at home in NYC. Now in the midst of this pandemic the number is 200-215. *Every day*. 5/

Early on in this crisis we were able to swab people who died at home, and thus got a coronavirus reading. But those days are long gone. We simply don't have the testing capacity for the large numbers dying at home. 6/

Now only those few who had a test confirmation *before* dying are marked as victims of coronavirus on their death certificate. This almost certainly means we are undercounting the total number of victims of this pandemic. 7/

And still the number of bodies continues to increase. The freezers at OCME facilities in Manhattan and Brooklyn will soon be full. And then what? 8/

Soon we'll start “temporary interment”. This likely will be done by using a NYC park for burials (yes you read that right). Trenches will be dug for 10 caskets in a line.

It will be done in a dignified, orderly--and temporary--manner. But it will be tough for NYers to take. 9/

New York will continue to have a high death rate for some time while Iran now has a gradual decline of new cases. A beautiful light show (vid) was projected on the Azadi tower in Tehran to honor the fight against the virus.

Iran is also contributing to the research of the disease.

A large scale Iranian study found that three quarter of those who had milder symptoms of Covid-19 reported also a very sudden smell blindness and sometimes also a loss of taste. The ability to smell recovered only very slowly. Other research suggests that a specific type of cells in the olfactory bulb might be the first place where the SARS-CoV-2 virus attacks before it moves into the throat and then deeper into the body. Even people who did not fall ill, but were living with ill members in their family, often reported a loss of smell.

Those who experience a sudden loss of smell should therefore immediately isolate themselves to not infect others.

To me the link below suggests covid deaths in the US are inflated. Note also that most (all?) are declared as covid death before autopsy. This is just really bad science.

PS: no im not a fan of the NY Post. I was looking for details about NYC area deaths, which are conspicuously absent. People (I’m a new yorker who left) seem to suggest minorities and african americans are disproportionately represented. My guess is we’ll see the same trend as italy: deaths are overwhelmingly amongst those with serious vulnerabilities. The average age of the dead men was 80 and 84 for women in italy. I bet we’ll see younger average in NYC and the US due to obesity, poor healthcare, etc.

Wait... the U.S. would cover up Covid-19 deaths to minimize their apparent impact? Oh, nonsense. That's just crezy talk... Who could possibily see any benefit from That? Here - take this pill and have a lttle coma nap. Eveythin;s OK!

Smallpox in Oklahoma?

Remember Wally pointed out that if CVx in a step, then there is a step two. A double tap. CVx would logically be followed by another purely coincidental assault.

Coincidence Theory seems like the subject, ahemm.

8,600 word essay, 6,800 words describing the most magical series of accidental coincidences that were obviously uncoordinated and not funded, pure accidents and simply remarkable coincidences.

"...The Dark Winter exercise began with a briefing on the geopolitical context of the exercise, which included intelligence suggesting that China had intentionally introduced Foot and Mouth disease in Taiwan for economic and political advantage; that Al-Qaeda was seeking to purchase biological pathogens once weaponized by the Soviet Union; and that Saddam Hussein of Iraq had recruited former biowarfare specialists from the Soviet Union and was importing materials to create biological weapons. It further notes that a majority of Americans had opposed a planned deployment of U.S. soldiers to the Middle East, which was also opposed by Iraq, China and Russia. The script also asserts that the soldiers were being deployed to counter and potentially engage the Iraqi military. Later, as the exercise unfolds, many of those Americans once skeptical about this troop deployment soon begin calling for “revenge.”

Amid this backdrop, news suddenly breaks that smallpox, a disease long eradicated in the U.S. and globally, appears to have broken out in the state of Oklahoma...."

I know it is not pleasant when you find out you have been lied to again and again and again. But you can always wake up and see the *puppets* -- The King with No Clothes -- that are being put before you, and and take back your human responsibly. Always.

P.S. For those in London. Do you remember on *Monday 2nd March 2020* with the weird **Evening Standard's** Front Page - where we got lines "NEVER STOP EXPLORING STOP EXPLORING EVER. A repeating Line after Line. Still have a hard copy!

This WAS a message folks from the journalists that had to speak out... This is REAL folks -- They have been playing with your consciousness and reality for a very long time. It is really time to Wake UP. Ask questions about all those 5G Electro Magnetic Boxes appearing on your streets without any public discussion or concerns. While it's not very polite to discuss our host... I have a similar view, but would call up recollection of Mr. John Young @ cryptome as a model, thus avoid the rude form.

He gets visits from political police. He obeys when he must. He says that he always makes such visits public, with the names of the fellas and all that, posted at cryptome.

If Wally was visited by those good fellas he would obey as well. They, as I assume DNB does, have a monopoly on violence. One simply must obey. This is not a matter of will or volition, but coercion and common sense.

So far I have not been visited.

But looking at the Big Picture, assuming everyone is a saintly boy-scout pure of heart and good...does anybody expect that every intel shop in the world does not read MoA?

Of course it's a waterin' hole...everybody visits the waterin' hole (or the river). Lions lurk in the bush, watchin' the antelope drink.

A number of posts on coronavirus, or government actions to do with coronavirus being a hoax have been deleted. Not so much on the question of bio warfare as many regulars have commented on that.

I guess the dividing line between rational thought and foil hat territory is in the eye of the beholder.
For me, being able to think that all the major players have joined together in coronavirus 'hoax' for a scheme to rule the worlds peasants does require tin foil hat protection.

My, people are starting to get upset now. Lots of unbelief of various types. Anger at disagreements.

The French aircraft carrier (one and only) seems to have CV19 troubles, and our (US) people in E. Syria too. Russia says is ready to step in.

Finian Cunningham says Boris is indeed fighting for his life.

Could get hard to maintain the illusion of control.

Pompeo looked very self-satisfied while pointing out the goodness of USA, which leads me to wonder, but I don't have any clue. Perhaps delusion is everywhere. Given the situation with the Teddy R. and Modly having bailed out, seems odd.

All and sundry lying their asses off, non-stop.

Went foraging here (Los Angeles, upscale) yesterday, everybody very polite and keeping distance, most with face coverings, gloves etc. waitstaff looks less than happy. Generally well stocked though.

While Wally has not been visited, his parents sure were, and he took the lesson from them. When Roy Cohn (alas, That Good Man) died there was quiet rejoicing.

Of course "it" is not a hoax. In fact it Has To Be Real.

It is also being used... This is the nature of war, it is real, and it is a vehicle of deception.

Conflicts so vast seldom allow the plans to result in the desired outcome. For example, when the Red Army began to roll toward the western sea it did not accord with the desired outcome at Brown Bothers, did it?

The fatcatz in imperial power seem to be attempting to shape the story such that it might recall the shaping of the 911 demolitions, self-evidently an inside job.

But that was not the narrative in the West in January. The narrative was that a lockdown should never be enforced because it is "a violation of freedom". It was "draconic", "authoriarian".

It is a known fact that Trump, on February 10th, was still saying the pandemic was a "hoax". China discovered the virus was transmissible human to human at January 23rd - the same day WHO was warned.

@Alaric #193
Any given study can be skewed by chance.
For Italy in particular, given its enormous population of really old people - it wouldn't surprise me if the village survey was skewed because a significant number of really old residents had died from nCOV. If say, 10% of the really old people had died (typical nCOV mortality for over 70), and they comprised 1/4 of the population - that would be enough to skew the percentage of asymptomatic up significantly.
Another source of error could simply be the nature of the spread: maybe the young people attended a soccer game or concert and gave it to each other there.
That's why any one study can't be relied on for anything.

My Dad actually died a few days ago in an *Empty* hospital in Shropshire. Not from CV-19. Yeah this virus *Pandemic* I myself (I have right BTW to question!) believe is a massive hoax. These people in charge are just not human (I believe in the normal sense of the word). When you have Prince Philip saying humans are basically a plague you really do have to wonder -- well at least some of do wonder what else do they believe. Also, I can honestly say I have NEVER worn a 'tin-foil' hat even for a fancy dress party.

Hmm... To me it's not that I see dead people, but I do see many *Sheep* in the US and globally being softened up for the slaughter. Those same Sheep that never even *Thought* to *Question* where their TRILLIONS of Tax $$$ poof goes/went... Nah, global fronts and societies just don't exist! Much easier for the those who don't want to rock the boat, sold their souls, in fear because they have a pipeline into those Trillions to just focus on the *tin-foil hat* stuff -- safer just to not look any further eh.

However, what I am truly thankful for is *many* people are finally waking up. The PTB wanted so my fear in their veins that they thought they would be easily lead. The empty hospitals and make-shift tent hospitals. Where were those body bags in our streets (not talking about on TV but on our actual streets). Or the ambulances coming down the street to collect the dead. Maybe? people may have been 'Let-Go' because they didn't want to follow the plan.

@Alaric #203
The federal government doesn't make death determinations - it is the medical examiners which are state/city/municipality/county.
Secondly, the rate of nCOV deaths in New York - as a function of 10M population, is approaching 50% of overall monthly mortality from all causes. Given the nCOV infection rate is very low - 0.7% (confirmed cases) to 3.7% (extrapolations based on deaths so far), it is absolutely impossible that the statistics are significantly skewed due to classification.
New York's typical monthly mortality rate is 6500 per 10M. 0.7% of this is 46; 3.7% of this is 241 - meaning if every single "normal" death in the nCOV infected group were classified as "coronavirus mortality" - the overall numbers would only be skewed up a max of 241.
New York's nCOV mortality per 10M is at 2824 as of April 7.
If you want to see general New York health data: Here it is
However, note it stops at 2016. As I posted elsewhere, mortality data is documented as lagging as much as 1 year - meaning we are not going to know what the March 2020 New York final mortality data is for months.
Many of the numb-nuts trying to prove nCOV "isn't a thing" are too blinded by their confirmation bias to even try to understand what is really going on.
nCOV isn't the Black Plague or zombie apocalypse, but it definitely "is a thing".

Related to sensing the not-hoax whatever...and also a trailing indication as well as kinna fuzzy... Pick a few places and go to craig's list in those places. Watch the price, asking prices, for stuff like motorcycles and small boats (used stuff).

Over time, if people are dying a lot, and if they have no money, the price for a 15,000 dollar harley will be dropping toward whatever they kin git.

(in 2028 Wally scored a pair of harleys, cheap, both runners with spares. Regrettably the infirmities of age limit the bike stuff these days, but he can manage a 50 mile ride without too much pain)

So far here @ Anoxia, Wally observes no change indicating serious financial effects... Except... Except that nobody seem to be buying motorcycles this spring...machines stay for sale for a long long time. Same for boats, etc.

It's a somewhat flaky survey method. But it works independently of official sauces... (hehe).

Yeah this virus *Pandemic* I myself (I have right BTW to question!) believe is a massive hoax.
Posted by: Jayne | Apr 8 2020 14:26 utc | 218

You might like to realign your choice of words a little, I rather suspect you didn't mean quite what you said. There is a massive hoax going on, that is very clear, but the virus itself is no hoax. The hoax is in the narrative, and in the government policies the narrative is designed to support. And part of the narrative is in the statistics, so there is a big operation to manipulate the statistics. All the major countries are manipulating the statistics, but not all in the same way - Germany very different from the US or UK for example - that reflects some differences in policies, although that doesn't mean overall goals are essentially different.

Note the behaviour of trolls, that is very interesting. Different groups of trolls are not the same, but there is a very interesting phenomenon - lots of known, long-established trolls are suddenly talking a lot of sense! - Not everything they say but significant messages - then they slip in some things that are specifically designed to rubbish the view that they are talking sense about! Especially, by saying the "virus is a hoax" - specific words designed to rubbish any message critical of the going narrative. Classic methodology. They used the same techniques after 911, saying very credible criticisms, then slyly slipping in something which undermines credibility. Their sole objective is to undermine credibility of criticisms of the narrative - and especially any criticisms that are accurate.

The known trolls are also relying on the fact that they are known to be trolls - when "information agent" crawls out of the woodwork and starts spitting out words critical of the most fashionable narrative, avid troll-watchers like William Gruff immediately get put off the scent (what a pity William!) and fall headlong into their trap! The very fact that the words are uttered by known and normally reliable trolls like information agent trashes the message they are uttering, even though the words themselves are sometimes spotlessly clean. Don't be fooled by these dirty tricks, people! That is why at this time it is critical to make a clear distinction between the virus - which is not a hoax, it is very real - and the narrative/policies, which are the real hoax/manipulation. By not keeping that distinction clear you are helping the dirty trolls do their dirty work.

Actually Jayne, to be fair, you didn't say the virus is a hoax but that the pandemic is a hoax - unfortunately the distinction is too small. The Pandemic is not a hoax, because the word "pandemic" has already been given a "hoax" redefinition several years ago by the Big Pharma lobby, to suit their grubby objectives of course, so the word no longer means what it should mean. Therefore Covid-19 unquestionably is a real "pandemic" in the distorted meaning that the word "pandemic" now officially has.

Further complicating the matter is that there are almost without question natural mutations continuously occuring in the virus that are muddying the water, so that it is really not clear what is going on, and how dangerous or non-dangerous the virus really is and for what categories of potentially susceptible people, and in which countries, when the virus is mutating on the one hand, and the statistics and media are being manipulated on the other. I think even the prime manipulators don't understand what is going on - partly because they are believing their own lies, believing their own manipulated statistics, confused by the mutations, and confused by the counfounding variables like age, comorbidities, pollution etc that they are deliberately setting out to obscure. No wonder that Blow-Job Clown managed to pull the rug from under his own concrete-gloved feet! There are differences between the strains in different countries, just as there were key differences between two strains in the first week in Wuhan (L-strain was initially dominant and highly potent, S-strain was initially non-dominant and far less potent; after the first week L-strain became relatively rare).

Notice how Blow-Job Clown and Trump were laughing at China earlier when China was tackling (very seriously and very effectively) the virus in Wuhan, and confidently dismissing the dangers to the UK and the USA - and even when the UK and the US were already starting to have trouble - but changed their tune when some semblance of reality finally started to sink in. There are many different dimensions to this Covid-19 phenomenon, even the puppet-string-pullers are falling off their chairs and getting lost, yet still they are viciously trying to pull their strings even more brutally.

Also important to note that fear of infectious diseases makes normally intelligent people very nervous and puts them off balance. Several people who can normally be relied upon to talk sense on MoA are clinging tightly to dogmatic misunderstandings that have been methodically and persistently fed by the fear porn the last several months. My mother used to say whenever people are selling or buying houses their nature changes for the worse, it enhances the worst in them and suppresses the best in them. A similar phenomenon is happening here with the fear porn and the fear of infectious diseases - normally rational people are made irrational by their fear, and are then easily manipulated by the trolls and the media. We have to be aware of that process and try our best to be untouched by it.

America's lies are essentially an updated version of Joseph Goebbels' advice to repeat a lie over and over again until it becomes the "truth."

The best examples are America's deceptions to justify its wars of aggression like the infamous Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, which America peddled with the same mindless repetition as it does with its accusations against China.

Here is a detailed article that counters America's hysterical smears about China "covering up" the coronavirus outbreak:

How China Learned About SARS-CoV-2 in the Weeks Before the Global Pandemic

And the article below has a January 24th tweet from an important world leader, who actually states that "China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency...."

The author of that tweet? The very stable genius himself, Donald Trump!

Apparently, many braindead American drones have forgotten their own Dear Leader's words!

It's only in March, when the virus hits the fan in America, that the Donald talks out of the other side of his mouth and tries to divert blame for his regime's failure in handling the pandemic:

White House Pushes U.S. Officials to Criticize China For Coronavirus ‘Cover-Up’

If you step back and watch America from afar, it's almost entertaining how the Land of the Free long ago surpassed anything Goebbels could have dreamed up in terms of disinformation.

Who says America ain't Number One anymore?!

I sense a pattern here: The Peoples of New York (the "E Pluribus Unum" state) are regularly sacrificed to incoming geopolitical causes, setting precedents for the next two decades of government "policy" using significant anchoring events. It is being done regularly now, with abandon, and the leaders of NY (regardless of party affiliation) along with Federal level, laugh it off and capitalize on it for gain, this is my 2 cents. I stick to it.

And the NYT goes full hypocrisy with this admission:

It is almost impossible to grasp the full scale of a highly contagious pandemic like Covid-19 in real time, said Dr. Howard Markel, a professor of medical history at the University of Michigan who has researched past epidemiological events in New York City.

“You have an idea of what numbers are, but you don’t have an exact source,” he said. It takes extensive, retroactive research, testing and academic study to even estimate the toll of a biological crisis like Covid-19, he said.

But, Dr. Markel said, debates over official death counts are arguably unimportant in the midst of the city’s crisis.

“Even if we’re underestimating deaths and cases, particularly in the New York situation, there are enough of both to tell us this is very serious,” he said. “It’s already all hands on deck, and I think that’s appropriate.”

This article is highlighting quite well how everything China has done has been primed as evil:

One must prepare for war in time :(

Here in Germany it's still still. In my Region Baden-Württemberg the daily death toll is slowly rising (ministry of social affairs):

Here at the newly formed central register for intensive care beds at the tab "Länder-Tabelle"
You can see the beds which are still free and where and how many people are in IC for covid-19 treatment (Behandlung, first column) and how many patients need (artificial?) ventilation (Beatmung, -> beatmet, second column)

Also around us the hell broke loose there are a lot of voices here to end the economy crippling measures. I hope that when they open up the schools again they make at least masks mandatory and make it mandatory for all human contacts without exception. We tried to sew our own masks too...:)

Besides: I tried to write my comment via Tor network using the standard tor browser which is a modified Firefox telling the websites it loads it was another kind of browser, but unfortunately didn't work. The text fields kept loading and loading. Bad for my privacy. Bad for my operational security:(

But maybe the shared links are interesting for you:)

@Dr Wellington Yueh

In the U$A it is actually <2% that
"Once you have that, they are capable of shouting down and/or intimidating enough of the opposition to suppress most movements. This is one tactic used in the US quite often."

I thought it was called the lobby?
