b - would be nice to hear a more detailed take from you re: chloroquine. Lots of info out there on its benefits and its uselessness. One thing that is clear is that it has a long track record and the reports of it killing people are BS. Also, Pharmaceutical companies would not make money if a cheap existing drug is found to provide effective treatment. Is it still too early to tell?

The Hill Rising interviewed Tara Reade who worked for Biden in the early 90s and says he sexually assaulted her. Ryan Grimm and Katie Halpern are also giving her airtime and press so I think this has legs.

Whelp the politicians let us down everywhere, but in America its a bigger joke. 1200 dollars will do what? That is peanuts and will do nothing. Tulsi has been pushing UBI for months but of course she is kryptonite to the media because the neocons have declared her so. That is why we got this from Jacob Wohl after Tulsi declared her candidacy last year:
"Everyone in the pro-Israel lobby (myself included) is already talking about how to make sure that Tulsi Gabbard’s campaign is over before it even gets off the ground — If you’re going to bet on a Dem candidate, look elsewhere."
The result of that move by the neocons is that we are now stuck with Biden because Tulsi was excluded from the debates and would have done what Bernie was unable to do.

You bet they are going to fnid a way to bail these mega-super spreaders too
from the cnn live "Cruise line operators Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. But the three companies aren't getting any help from Washington, D.C., as of now.
Shares of all three stocks plunged between 12% and 20% Friday after the Senate and House passed a more than $2 trillion coronavirus aid package that did not include any money for them.
The reason? The cruise lines all have headquarters in Miami, but none of them is legally based in the United States — which allows them to pay fewer taxes. Carnival is incorporated in Panama, while Royal Caribbean is headquartered in Liberia. Norwegian is incorporated in Bermuda.
Republican US Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri noted that fact in a tweet earlier this week, urging them to move to America in order to qualify for aid.
President Trump said in a news briefing Thursday that “it’s very hard to make a loan to a company when they’re based in a different country." But he also noted the cruise companies employ thousands in the United States and that "we’re going to try and work something out.”
Carnival CEO Arnold Donald said in an interview on the "Axios on HBO" show that the company is not looking for a government bailout. But Donald acknowledged that "capital markets are constrained right now." (HBO is a part of WarnerMedia, the AT&T-owned parent company of CNN.)"

Russia Insider has an article "Socialism for the Rich: Government Is Bailing Out Investors & Managers, Not You" which I find interesting - a few extracts:
"Third, as we have been warning since 2006, companies need buffers to face uncertainty –not debt (an inverse buffer), but buffers. Mother nature gave us two kidneys when we only need about a portion of a single one. Why? Because of contingency. We do not need to predict specific adverse events to know that a buffer is a must. Which brings us to the buyback problem. Why should we spend taxpayer money to bailout companies who spent their cash (and often even borrowed to generate that cash) to buy their own stock (so the CEO gets optionality), instead of building a rainy day buffer? Such bailouts punish those who acted conservatively and harms them in the long run, favoring the fool and the rent-seeker.
Furthermore, some people claim that the pandemic is a “Black Swan”, hence something unexpected so not planning for it is excusable. The book they commonly cite is The Black Swan (by one of us). Had they read that book, they would have known that such a global pandemic is explicitly presented there as a white swan: something that would eventually take place with great certainty. Such acute pandemic is unavoidable, the result of the structure of the modern world; and its economic consequences would be compounded because of the increased connectivity and overoptimization. As a matter of fact, the government of Singapore, whom we advised in the past, was prepared for such an eventuality with a precise plan since as early as 2010. - Nassim Taleb and Mark Spitznagel

@2 norecovery
I would hope that things go much further than that, perhaps a death of the shallow narcissism that pervades current Western societies, a realisation that government is not some omniscient and omnipotent force, that most of it together with the MSM and the NGOs is just a giant flatulence machine with too much money and power and that as Orwell said, if there is hope, it is in the people.

It scares me that there are people who fail to understand that the economy exists to benefit people: we were not created to serve the needs of the market.
The fact that such arguments are being broached seriously is a truly shocking revelation about our system of government and our economic system.
Posted by: ralphieboy. | Mar 27 2020 20:02 utc | 19
I must say that looking at some of the "experts" on MSM, that most of them seem to have been locked in closets for a very long time without hairdressers. I suppose we will all look like that soon.
One thing that I do notice as well is that society will change and possibly for the better. As an "oldie" I have had a series of telephones offering to "go out and buy things-are you alright" style of things. I refuse because I like an excuse to get out myself sometimes. However, Neighbourliness has made a (telephonic) come-back. I hope it lasts.
One problem at the moment is the rise of petty-dictatorships. Around here if people do it, they "ban" it. saw the police hidden (riiiight) waiting for dog walkers along a leafy trail I use, I went back. BUT, the trail is about 4 metres in width where people can cross each other, while on the roads we are reduced to narrow pavements, (where the dog has to do poo even after years of training NOT to do that on roads or in the garden). Which is going to last longer, social warmth or Fascism?

Trump is like a Jim Jones herding the bored and desperate Christian flock to church on Easter Sunday in the middle of a pandemic with the promise of something miraculous so they'll get back on the wheel after Easter Monday to make the economy look good, while he stays in his White House or Florida palace as far from the riff raff and germs as he can get.
Trump got religion after he banged Stormy Daniels. That's about as close to a religious experience as he ever got; moaning oh gawd!oh gawd! the whole time.
It may sound vulgar; but let's be real about who Trump has always been and still is. A blowhard sleazebag.

The Trial of Chloroquine in the Treatment of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and Its Research Progress in Forensic Toxicology.
[.]Since December 2019, COVID-19 (corona virus disease 2019) outbreaks caused by SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) has occurred in China and many countries around the world. Due to the lack of drugs against COVID-19, the disease spreads rapidly and the mortality rate is relatively high. Therefore, specific drugs against SARS-CoV-2 need to be quickly screened. The antimalarial drug Chloroquine phosphate which has already been approved is confirmed to have an anti-SARS-CoV-2 effect and has been included in diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines. However, awareness of the risk of chloroquine phosphate causing acute poisoning or even death should be strengthened. The dosage used according to current clinical recommended dosage and course of treatment are larger than that of previous treatment of malaria. Many provinces have required close clinical monitoring of adverse reactions. This paper reviews the pharmacological effects, poisoning;[.]

Ronald Reagan was "only" rated a B-grade actor in Hollywood. Yet demonstrated over n over the skills of acting. He knew how to be president. I recall just before the 1900 election, he appeared solo on TV, seated behind an empty table. Then greeted his audience, gently reached into his pocket and placed some coins on the table, the gave a speech about money, which grabbed and held total attention.

Recall that last election wherein Tulsi stepped down from a vaunted position within the D Party Establishment to, IIRC, support Bernie. Any case, whatever it was, it was a choice which indicated a different and principled politician - in the person of Tulsi - or at least she appeared to be an individual with a few principles.
Now this Biden endorsement is decidedly unprincipled, because Biden is, without question, a warhawk, a self-proclaimed proud Zionist, and a persistent enabler of the one percent - be it "accidental" or be it brazen with forethought and full intent. Biden has a colorful history of being a key figure in the dismantlement of the middle class and the further impoverishment of the working poor.
I am disappointed in Tulsi Gabbard.
Though she'd have been torn to bits with the exposure of her association with the unusual religious cult. Makes one curious as to how she has gotten as far as she has in mainstream politics.

This is the antiviral treatment recommended in the hand I linked above.
Antiviral Treatment
At FAHZU, lopinavir/ritonavir (2 capsules, po q12h) combined with arbidol (200 mg po q12h) were applied as the basic regimen. From the treatment experience of 49 patients in our hospital, the average time to achieve negative viral nucleic acid test for the first time was 12 days (95% CI: 8-15 days). The duration of negative nucleic acid test result (negative for more than 2 times consecutively with interval ≥ 24h) was 13.5 days (95% CI: 9.5 - 17.5 days). If the basic regimen is not effective, chloroquine phosphate can be used on adults between 18-65 years old (weight ≥ 50 kg: 500 mg bid; weight ≤50 kg: 500 mg bid for first two days, 500 mg qd for following five days).Interferon nebulization is recommended in Protocols for Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19. We recommend that it should be performed in negative-pressure wards rather than general wards due to the possibility of aerosol transmission.Darunavir/cobicistat has some degree of antiviral activity in viral suppression test in vitro, based on the treatment experience of AIDS patients, and the adverse events are relatively mild. For patients who are intolerant to lopinavir/ritonavir, darunavir/ cobici-stat (1 tablet qd) or favipiravir (starting dose of 1600 mg followed by 600 mg tid) is an alternative option after the ethical review. Simultaneous use of three or more antiviral drugs is not recommended.Course of Treatment
The treatment course of chloroquine phosphate should be no more than 7 days. The treatment course of other regimens has not been determined and are usually around 2 weeks. Antiviral drugs should be stopped if nucleic acid test results from sputum specimens remain negative for more than 3 times

I have a question about US COVID data; no media have addressed how the data is counted.
What counts as a COVID death in the US?
In Italy, if the deceased had tested positive for COVID, then it is counted as a COVID death, regardless of how many other conditions he had, and even if had other conditions that are more lethal than COVID. This is tricky, because in actuality COVID may have been only a contributing cause of death, and perhaps not even the primary cause. That is especially true for Italian patients who were very old, and thus tended to have multiple conditions upon dying.
I looked the CDC form for the death certificate. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/blue_form.pdf
It has one entry for the IMMEDIATE CAUSE of death, and four entries for other conditions, the last of which must specify the UNDERLYING cause. COVID would not be listed as the IMMEDIATE cause, but as one of the listed conditions or as the UNDERLYING cause.
Does the CDC count the death as COVID if it appears anywhere among the listed conditions, or does COVID have to be labeled as the UNDERLYING cause?

This article might interest you. The author makes the point that neo-liberalism is begging to be replaced.
"...Crises like these call for an interventionist state to keep the system together, or for mutual aid and solidarity, especially among people abandoned or targeted by the state. In some countries, the legitimacy of state administration and planning will grow, in others political legitimacy will fall precipitously, leading not just to mutual aid networks, but to attempts to build dual power.
"What economic paradigm – if any – may become dominant isn’t clear. The prestige of Chinese-style state capitalism is growing. Keynesian and Modern Monetary Theory economists will find jobs in high places, and market socialism-with-nationalisations will continue to strengthen its position as the dominant economic doctrine on the left.
"However, the economic and ecological unsustainability of growth will raise hard questions of how to distribute or redistribute the losses in a non-growth world. Fascism and populist welfare chauvinism will offer the false security of disaster nationalism, national hoarding and resource wars. Degrowth’s offer of a planned and willed exit from growth will continue to gain followers, and communist strategies will grow in importance, as the surpluses that can be divided between contending classes shrink. Ecological breakdown and an absence of growth will pose questions that are already imposing themselves in the intense isolation of the lockdown: what are the joys of deceleration, what to do with an abundance of time and interdepence? And, more forcefully, it will radically narrow the space for social and political compromise.
"Struggle is unavoidable. The question is who will organise it and how."

Just lost the long comment I was composing, which is a shame as usual. It focused on the economic affects that are yet to come in this crisis. The major point is the bailout money for the Outlaw US Empire's citizenry amounts to chump change and won't nearly be enough to deal with the ongoing Supply Crisis. Perhaps the most informative amongst many links is to this op/ed by the author of Planet Ponzi.
Few people saw the crash of 1929 coming and thus even fewer were ready for it--but not its length. IMO, we're lucky to have some forewarning this time, but IMO this time will also be different in that the coming Depression won't be Global as the dynamics of its causation are very different, although debt is involved. I really can't stress much more than I already have the importance of the last three Keiseer Reports, just the first halves will do, so all three could be seen in under an hour! There've been hints provided on other threads about what the future holds. Asia is in excellent shape. Europe will survive once it merges with Asia and a genuine Eurasian bloc is formed. The Western Hemisphere will be a mixed bag as much depends on the outcome of the Class War raging within the Outlaw US Empire.
One further comment on the CARES bailout package enacted by Congress--the vast majority of monies appropriated went to the wrong players and won't do anything to solve the Empire's very big economic mess. Look for the new Shadowstats commentary the 29th and new data sets on the 1st. I expect real unemployment to be over 40%, maybe over 50%, a figure that's actually far worse than at anytime during the Great Depression.

They are mainly using Johns Hopkins University (A HREF="https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html">click here) as the source. They are very different than the WHO's, which still puts USA deaths at the 65,000 range (history shows, however, that the WHO is just lazy in updating their website).
According to their own website, they use as sources "WHO, CDC, ECDC, NHC, DXY, 1point3acres, Worldometers.info, BNO, state and national government health departments, and local media reports". That may be the reason they are ahead of the WHO in with the American numbers.
Cause of death is always determined by the doctor who called it. It's useless to try to search for the absolute truth in these cases, as we're in the mid of a pandemic. My guess is, if you're in a ventilator and dies of respiratory failure, the doctor will not have any other reason to not call that a COVID-19 death (unless, of course, the patient was in the hospital before the pandemic happened). Occam's Razor apply here: it's unlikely on a cosmic scale that humanity was struck with two pandemics at the same time (the case being theorized by some being that there's a strong pneumonia happening at the same time as the COVID-19 in Europe).
It's not weird for a doctor to list cause of death the disease which dealt the final blow. That's why flu and pneumonia kill so many people yearly: they are, at least in the First World, the disease which serve as the "nail in the coffin" for a person already in terminal stage (very old or in coma for a long period). In modern medicine, the orientation is to avoid the use non-scientific terms such as "natural causes" in order to determine cause of death, since it hinder progress of the area. So, even a 120 years old that dies from a flu is still not considered as dying of old age, but from a flu (cardiorespiratory failure or something like that).

Jimmy Dore tweeted:
"The largest transfer of wealth in the history of the world to the 1%, the Democratic Party is no better than Donald Trump, they R using ur own money to steal from you & they’re calling it a bailout. It’s a colossal unconscionable screwing up America.
And it passed 96-0."
Jimmy Dore is right about the bailout, it's just about carpetbagging and everyone (including Sanders, Warren & Gabbard) are enabling this.
I don't know how Americans can do anything but you need to stop this before it's too late.

I will wait until I hear the story from people involved directly. If you missed it, we are having a bit of an emergency here in Hawaii (along with the rest of the world) and Tulsi has been very active locally.
The outcome is highly unusual along with all of the rest of the sudden departures from the race. Not happy about it either, but I also know that tarring opposition leaders as "betraying their supporters" and discouraging their followers is a tried and true tactic that I refuse to indulge in. Let's wait for the full story before breaking out the tar and feathers.

I used to post on here years ago, but am still an avid reader of the dispatches. I work as a biotech scientist. Today one of my colleagues offered me masks for protection during all this madness. It came out that his parents operate some sort of manufacturing plant back in China, and now they are mass-producing surgical masks, some of which they not surprisingly diverted to their son. They did so to outfit workers per a new government mandate. Bringing this back to my occupation, well, our sites are all but shutdown. Why is my company not throwing a quarter of our staff at this problem? We do this when an internal drug candidate becomes promising. While I’m perpetually reminded that I’m not smart, many people I work with are, in addition to being flexible and skilled in temporally relevant disciplines of developing and delivering complex therapeutics. This depresses me. We’re sitting at home going nuts when we could be aimed at this problem. We’d bring more drive and creativity than normal considering the circumstances. Different systems I guess.

As reported by Ivan Katchanovski on Facebook:
The Prosecutor General Office of Ukraine reportedly plans to arrest two prominent recent members of the parliament and far right activists on charges of their involvement in the Maidan massacre.
The Ukrainian media reports citing anonymous sources in the Prosecutor General Office of Ukraine that they plan to charge Volodymyr Parasiuk with the massacre of the Berkut policemen on February 20, 2014, and Tetiana Chornovol with a deadly arson of the Party of Regions office that resulted in killing of a computer admin there on February 18, 2014.
My studies concerning the Maidan massacre and the far right in Ukraine found that the Parasiuk-led company of Maidan snipers was involved in the Maidan massacre and that Chornovol and far right Maidan activists were involved in this deadly arson attack that involved the far right.
Both of them were hailed by the Ukrainian and even some Western media and politicians as Maidan and national heroes, while their involvement in the Maidan massacre and the far right background were deliberately ignored or denied. Parasiuk was affiliated with the far right Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists and Svoboda before the Maidan and was a company commander in the Right Sector-led Dnipro paramilitary battalion after the Maidan. Chornovol was an activist of the far right UNA-UNSO before the Maidan and in the Fatherland/Peoples Front during and after the Maidan. The Ukrainian media reports that Parasiuk has already disappeared.

karlof1 @62
The reason for the persistence of the Depression was the persistence with which liberals insisted that the policies which had left to the crisis should be used to solve it.
People forget that the New Deal had a very mixed history- as soon as counter cyclical methods looked as if they were succeeding they were dropped in favour of the austerity and economic equivalent of herd immunity which the ruling class favoured.
They also tend to forget that the real creator of the New Deal was not FDR but John Q Worker it was working class militancy that forced FDR and Congress to take the steps that they did.
The reactionaries-who still rule and have done so since 1946- knew what they were doing when they forced Taft Hartley through. And Truman was right on when he called it a Slave Labour Act.

Thanks for your reply. First off, I should say that I initially had the misconception that the 'immediate cause of death' meant the mechanism of death. But the CDC handbook on death certification clarifies this point: "The cause does not mean the mechanism of death or terminal event (for example, cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest)."
So, COVID could indeed be listed as the 'immediate cause' on the death certificate, in which case it would also be listed as the 'underlying cause.' Accordingly, contrary to my initial hunch, I don't see much room for 'massaging' the data when compiling death counts. It mostly comes out in the wash, it seems.

Thanks for alerting me to the Pepe Escobar interview. It nicely brings together a lot of disparate points of discussion; much will be redundant for those who have been following COVID closely. For me, one of the most interesting details is his account of Chinese officials being taking issue with what they perceive as Xi Jinping being too accommodating towards Trumps, and the result of this is that the Foreign Ministry has now adopted a much more aggressive approach in its diplomatic communications and outreach. I usually consider such accounts uncredible rumors, but this account does indeed dovetail with what we see from Wang Yi, the head diplomat, as well as lower-level officials who message on, for example, Twitter. The posture of the foreign ministry has clearly shifted during the US 'hybrid war' on China of the last two years, and post-COVID that messaging has become even more forceful.

Isn't pandemic stuff meant to be in other thread? The famous types - pols n royalty who have the bug won't all be so smug in 5 or 6 days. The initial stage is the same for everyone but as the complaint progresses a % will get extremely ill, no matter how many $$$s they have or servants they own.
Big ears 80 plus 'household' will do him no good as none of his 83 servants can breathe for him, plus a household that size will leak to fuck if Big Ears gets preferential treatment for ventilators etc. A couple of the fishwraps who loathe him and want the next king to be his son will be offering big wedges to any valet or footman with a story about charlie getting a ventilator. Boris will have the same problem.
A firing squad would feel more cathartic but we beggars can't be choosers, so I for one will take death by disease as being sufficiently karmic reward for those humans who claim to be better by birth.

Joaquin Flores believes that Covid-19 has multiple strains that may combine to have the Malthusian effect of getting rid of the elderly and infirm for the purpose of clearing out the pension and social security liabilities. Came over to share a thing, in case you hadn't heard it yet.
Bob Dylan just released a new song, a dark and epic poem about the murder of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. It seems quite resonant with the times now, and ever since really.
The YouTube is here, on the Bob Dylan channel, and with a pinned first comment from Dylan:
Bob Dylan - Murder Most Foul (Official Audio)
~~
Pepe Escobar listened to the 17-minute song twice and wrote down the lyrics. You can find them on his Facebook page (you don't need to belong to FB to view this): BOB IS BACK AT THE STRIKE OF MIDNIGHT
Dylan dissects the gruesome, contemptuous gangster hit on Kennedy and portrays countless slices of American life and times with grim and epochal insight - as always. He is describing at some length the "bloodstained banner".
I think the heart of the nation was broken back then and has stayed so ever since. The song is vastly sad.

The latest article by Larry Romanoff (who has been one of the leading writers on Covid-19) effectively concludes that the facts indicate that Covid-19 is a bioweapon and that there are multiple strains and multiple targets and suggests that the US is the source. Extracts:
"There appears to have been two major ‘waves’ of global infection, the first around the end of January, the second a month later."
"the first wave – 22 countries had their first confirmed infections in travelers from China but, soon after this, in the second wave, 34 countries obtained their first confirmed infection in travelers from Italy, and another 16 from Iran."
"However, so-called “first infection” in these countries, from Chinese citizens or other travelers, proved in all but perhaps two cases to be irrelevant because these first external infections proved to have no links to the subsequent local outbreaks, and because the virus strain in many of those explosive local eruptions did not exist in China but only in the US."
"Italy, like almost all other countries, did not obtain its infection from China and indeed could not have done."
"A natural virus hasn’t the ability to simultaneously infect 85 different countries on all continents of the world, with outbreaks in multiple locations in each country."
"More peculiar is that these countries were by no means all infected with the same variety of the virus, which means the simultaneous infections in these 85 countries were not from the same source."
"Even more peculiar is that most countries, at least the major ones, reported simultaneous outbreaks in multiple locations, and to date while some nations have been able to identify one or more of their ‘patients zero’, I am aware of no country that was able to definitively identify all their several ‘patients zero’. Considering the above information in light of the known basic facts of virus transmission, intuition suggests at least the possibility of there having been many people carrying a pail of live viruses."
"It is interesting to note that high fatality rates are entirely within Italy, Iran, and China. For approximate figures, China’s fatality rate is between 3% and 4%, that of Iran at about 7% and Italy the highest at around 9%."
"Even more interesting is that if these countries did pass their strain of the virus to other nations, those strains abandoned their lethality when they left home. Of the 34 countries supposedly infected by Italy, for example, all exhibit very low mortality, the same being true of Chinese or Iranian infections. The natural conclusion is that these viruses prefer their ‘home populations’ and pose at best a minor threat to others."

Important? Not any longer. It's absolute certain that nothing effective can be done any longer about improving the lot of Planet Earth, not so much because we are really past the point of no return, but because we are humans and our governance systems are limited. You're talking utopia. The kids or perhaps their kids, etc. are fucked and there is nothing to do about it. Concentrate on doing things that (sometimes) work, like hanging imperialist warmongers, etc.

Some facts about Bob Dylan:
1. Bob Dylan stole the arrangements of other Greenwich Village folk musicians and used them for the entirety of his first album - Bob Dylan never credited those musicians and just stole their work and passed it off as his own.
2. Bob Dylan's entire "hobo" persona was stolen from Woody Guthrie - Dylan just appropriated Guthrie's credibility. Dylan never knew what it was like to go hungry and need a job or a place to live and only understands such things as abstractions.
3. Dylan stole the leftwing pose from the parents of Suze Rotolo (his girlfriend) - these were not ideas that Dylan had true authentic feelings about - he absorbed and stole and used them for commercial purposes. In the decades since, Dylan has demonstrated time and time again that his concern about ordinary people and workers stops with the $12 they hand over for one of his albums.
4. Bob Dylan was not in any way involved in the anti-Viet Nam war movement - Joan Baez was, Bob Dylan had absolutely no involvement (this point so contradicts with what Dylan fans believe that they just will not accept it or even research it).
5. Pete Seeger lauded Bob Dylan and passed on the mantle as the future of "folk protest singers and the protector of "songs of the people" but when Seeger was unfairly attacked about his concerns that the words could not be heard (the words, the meaning of the song, is the most important thing for Seeger) Dylan just abandoned him and left him to face the wrath of Dylan's fans - Dylan's career was all that mattered.
6. Throughout his career, Dylan has used other musicians and stolen their ideas (or tried to - compare Dylan's woeful "Canadee-I-O" [a worthless piece of work scrubbed clean from YouTube so that Dylan doesn't lose a penny in royalties] with the version he tried to steal/copy, that of Nic Jones. Did Bob Dylan help Nic Jones when he was injured in a car crash? Did he f**k!
7. This song of Dylan's about JFK is woeful and reveals nothing that Americans don't already suspect and is well within what is "safe" - Dylan might have made a better song by bringing in the killings of Robert Kennedy, the suspicious and aggressive cancer that took Jacqueline Kenedy in 1994 at the relatively young age of 64 (who was healthy and active), which seems to have been a prerequisite for dealing with John-John who was killed in 1999 (I do not believe that Jacqueline would have been silent of she was still alive).
8. The release of this song is just a distraction. Let's get the dead-end controversy about JFK going again just when there are more important current issues that need to be addressed. Dylan reveals himself to be an establishment stooge.
9. The truth of Dylan's shallowness and lack of connection is revealed by Joan Baez in her masterpiece song, Diamonds and Rust.

I’m with you.
Also a donating supporter of Gabbard, I was initially but briefly stunned by the endorsement, maybe because I’m not a Democrat but an independent lefty. However, what she did makes some sense if Sanders shooed off her endorsement—after all the hits she took and received and after the many things she did directly and indirectly to Sanders’s benefit.
I’m not referring only to the post attributed to her brother, which I understand was a credible but incomplete account.
The scuttlebutt among higher-level supporters in contact with staffers/surrogates in the Gabbard and Sanders campaigns is that Gabbard had every intention of endorsing Sanders, but his people (if not the man himself) told her he’d be suspending his campaign and endorsing Biden and, correspondingly, advised her that she should, too. Soon after Gabbard’s announcement, even MSM outlets were reporting that Sanders might close shop last week or this week.
Sanders has, of course, not shut things down yet. In light of him running interference this week for the Save the Suffering Billionaires Bill slammed through Congress under the pretext of delivering COVID-19 relief to workers, it raises more than a few questions.
But as you indicate, the real story of what happened between Gabbard and her former hero/mentor has yet to surface.
I do know that Gabbard shut down Jimmy Dore last week when he tried to get her to give him and his audience a peek behind the curtain. To paraphrase: her lips are sealed on the matter, and it’s really Sanders’s story to tell.
It was more negative confirmation to me that something weird, if not despicable, had occurred (and is probably still in process).
It’s easy for me and others who aren’t directly involved in the treacherous political Thunderdome that Sanders, Gabbard, et al battle within to say things like “Sellout!”, “Didn’t have to endorse,” and the like. But Gabbard (despite her maverick tendencies) and Sanders (despite his disingenuous self-branding) are committed to the Democratic Party, or at least what they think or pretend it should be.
I’ve learned following Gabbard since 2016 that she’s very careful with her words, but that the connotations she gives some of them within certain contexts often communicate something different than the generally understood superficial meaning: e.g. “present,” “center.” She said she gave her “full support” to Biden. (Side note: Sanders practically endorsed Biden a month or so ago and has acted the opposite of competitive candidate since Super Tuesday.) Like most thinking people who have an inkling about the DNC and Biden, Gabbard knows that Biden’s not calling the shots of his own campaign and that it’s a distinct possibility that he won’t be the nominee on the other side of the convention. (Sanders will not be allowed to be.) So, her stated “full support” is moot.
Tellingly, she’s not said the former VP’s name since that fateful, stunning announcement. And if Trump’s military order today is any indication, I won’t be surprised if she and other National Guard folks are called up soon to put on their uniforms and to take on the Corona Plague. Gabbard’s supporters and surrogates are at least 80% Never Biden, and they’re now turning to advocating for viable third parties, throwing their support behind Sanders, and/or returning to their previous affiliations (e.g., socialist in my and a few others’ cases, libertarian in many others’).
After Sanders formally confirms his endorsement of his Good Friend Joe and zealously campaigns for Biden or whomever the DNC appoints as the VP’s replacement, I hope that some disgruntled Sanders staffers/surrogates spill the beans on what happened between Gabbard and Sanders. Gabbard will likely keep her word, as she’s wont to do, and keep her and her people’s lips sealed.
I suspect, too, that Gabbard will come out of all this looking prescient and more respectable than her political peers and detractors—like she has so many times in the last four years.

Apologies if this has been discussed and I missed it:
www.gov.uk:
Status of COVID-19
As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.
The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.
The need to have a national, coordinated response remains, but this is being met by the government’s COVID-19 response.
