Obviously the DNC leadership is aware of the fact that a significant percentage of Bernie voters will never vote for Biden under any circumstances. Their strategy is banking on the economy tanking. DJT can easily counter this by continuously bashing them for exploiting the economy/coronavirus crisis and reminding Bernie voters how they’ve been cheated again.

Much of the ongoing battle for America’s soul is about healing the souls of these Americans and rousing them from the stupefying glut of commodity and spectacle. Genuine moral values have jack to do with politics. But in an obsessively religious nation, values remain the most effective smoke screen for larceny by the rich and hatred and fear by the rest. What Christians and so many quiet, ordinary Americans were voting for in the presidential elections of 2000 and 2004 was fear of human beings culturally unlike themselves, particularly gays and lesbians and Muslims and other non-Christians. That’s why in eleven states Republicans got constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage on the ballot. In nine of them the bill passed easily. It was always about fearing and, in the worst cases, hating “the other.”
Being a southerner, I have hated in my lifetime. I can remember schoolyard discussions of supposed “nigger knifing” of white boys at night and such. And like most people over fifty, it shows in my face, because by that age we have the faces we deserve. Likewise I have seen hate in others and know it when I see it. And I am seeing more of it now than ever before in my lifetime, which is saying something considering that I grew up down here during the Jim Crow era. Fanned and nurtured by neoconservative elements, the hate is every bit equal to the kind I saw in my people during those violent years. Irrational. Deeply rooted. Based on inchoate fears.
The fear is particularly prevalent in the middle and upper-middle classes here, the very ones most openly vehement about being against using the words nigger and fuck. They are what passes for educated people in a place like Winchester. You can smell their fear. Fear of losing their advantages and money. Fear there won’t be enough time to grab and stash enough geet to keep themselves and their offspring in Chardonnay and farting through silk for the next fifty years. So they keep the lie machinery and the smoke generators cranking full blast as long as possible, hoping to elect another one of their own kind to the White House—Democratic or Republican, it doesn’t matter so long as they keep the scam going. The Laurita Barrs speak in knowing, authoritative tones, and the inwardly fearful house painter and single-mom forklift driver listen and nod. Why take a chance on voting for a party that would let homos be scout masters?

What would be ideal is a women of color who is progressive but supports the military (as demonstrated by actual military service). Such a kind but tough woman would be a “cross-over” candidate that is acceptable to the establishment but that Bernie can endorse so that he can properly deliver his flock into the folds of the Democratic Party.

Election results from the computerized vote counts of the 2020 California Democratic Party presidential primary differed significantly from the results projected by the exit poll conducted by Edison Research and published by CNN at poll’s closing. According to the exit poll Sanders won big in CA (by 15%). The unobservable computer counts cut his lead by half (to 7.3%). In the total delegate count to date, substituting the estimated California and Texas exit poll delegate apportionments for the apportionments derived from the computer counts, results in candidate Sanders currently leading candidate Biden by 42 delegates instead of trailing by 45. The possibility exists that massive voter suppression is currently occurring during the extended unfinished count of California ballots.

Look Like another repeat of 2016, but will it be another 8-yrs more Obama or MAGA? Regardless which candidate win, more sanctions, regimes change and deaths. That’s the hallmark of Americans’ capitalism.
I was out shopping this noon stocking up foods in this small/medium size Hispanic majority city in Ca. Central Valley no one seems aware of an impending Convid-19 strike. It’s not if but when and if it strikes can the City under 200 beds’ hospital prepares for the pandemic? Can the State build two 2,600 beds hospitals in 12 days like Wuhan?
BTW I’m still waiting for more than 6-yrs for that damn stupid bullet train to reach us and that bullet train got stuck in Fresno Ca for two-yrs.
It’s not, will the god help us but will he if the gods exist?

Oh and I must add that the idea of Tulsi teaming with Biden is pure absurdity.
I am more inclined to believe the post (death to Sanders) convention scenario will be Biden nominated, then withdraw for ‘family and health reasons’ and the presentation of a ‘dream team’ of oligarch ferrets on a leash.
Pres nominee being a white male and the vp a darker shade female (not Tulsi). Perhaps a dream team only ‘just good enough’ for Sanders to support.
This is entirely bound by a caveat that coronavirus doesn’t
a) overwhelm USA and create mayhem
b) cause the convention to cancel ‘for health and quarantine’ necessities
c) severely disrupt large public gatherings and
d) destroy shared use of voting via touch screens or keyboards.
It would be ironic if coronavirus rendered voting machines obsolete. The evil ones will provide and app of course for those with disposable income to waste on these devices.

There is nothing subtle about paring down the number of polling stations in populous areas, or having malfunctioning voting machines, or the surprise of buggered up voter lists, scrambled with typos, that keep people from getting hold of a ballot.
As much as I’m sure election interference is a factor, I think the biggest story of the primary is the credulity and submissiveness of the average Democratic voter. Republican voters gave the middle finger to their establishment and hoisted Trump into the presidency.
Democrats were stampeded into the arms of a demented old segregationist by a pork-fattened Uncle Tom (Clyburn) and the pansies at MSNBC and the Washington Post. It’s a true sight to behold—Super Tuesday may have been a self inflicted deathblow for the old jackasses; I will watch the party die with glee.

After dropping out, first thing he does: joins CNN. Then, he no longer has nice things to say about Bernie. Then he leaves a cryptic message on his twitter that he will make an announcement in early March, yada-yada.
Well tonight the Yang aka Benedict Arnold predictably went all in with the dark side: ANDREW YANG JUST ENDORSED JOE BIDEN.
I wonder what he got for that instant switch in values? Lemme just say that I never trusted Andrew Yang, I just kept seeing too much opportunism and not enough integrity.

I had my doubt when during a debate that left Tulsi Gabbard out, he noted that he was “sad and disappointed to be the only person of color on the stage” that night.
Kamala Harris and Corey Booker had just dropped out. He said he missed them on the stage. Yuck! But Gabbard was still in the race but Yang did not mention her neither did he mention her notable exclusion.
At that moment, Yang hitched his wagon to those twerps and their people and absolutely shafted Gabbard and her message.
This was back on Dec. 19 I believe.

Biden is demented according to some. Be interesting to see who is running mate is. Maybe Hillary? Then Biden drops due to his dementia and its Hillary vs Trump. Trump falls out of favor due to corona virus handling, so if elections are held Hillary wins. Or Trump pulls a coup and cancels elections and declares himself King, wearing the corona virus crown.
Another possible scenario, is Trump gets stricken with corona virus and steps down, and Pence takes over. Trump seems to have let Pence out of closet on covid.
Should be interesting to see how this fake wrestling match ends. For us little people it just means we get scrood a different way if someone other than Trump gets in. No winners for us.

1. It’s long been a truism for many including myself that barring some wild card, Trump likely will win in 2020. Although a for-real Sanders could have beaten Trump, we knew the DNC would steal the nomination from him. Sanders now will roll over as in 2016. 2. The Corona pandemic may become this wild card, and Trump looks incapable of dealing with it even on a demagogic level. The Democratic leadership knows Biden is showing symptoms of dementia or Alzheimer’s. Still, they want him to be the nominee, but watch who is picked to be his running mate. The war-pig, Hillary, isn’t dead yet, after all. One could substitute Kamala Harris or someone else of that neocon ilk just as well. The point is that I suspect that if they were to get Biden in, they would then quickly take him out (using the 25th, and saying so very sadly that he is impaired, and they so much regret having to take this step, blah, blah, blah) leaving their real choice, his VP, in power. Some years ago I was the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against a board of elections which was trying to railroad a touch screen voting machine system into the local elections which had up until then been using paper ballots. This was in one town in one state. The legal costs were funded by a large number of residents who felt there was a lot of back door scheming to keep an illegal commissioner in place by massaging the vote. We “won” our law suit. However, the judge ordered that both systems be used. (I’ve always wondered why) Surprise surprise. The touch screens failed in every way that other commentators have noted, including flipping votes.
There was a free-er press in those days and the news was reported, but nothing came of it. The DIM party did not pursue the issue. The ReThugs, who included the crooked commissioner, naturally were silent. This was the primary election for the year that BushBoy was “re=elected” with the aid of some pretty fishy touch screen vote vote flipping in Ohio. There is a journalist called Greg Palast who has documented all this if you care to look.
So, for me personally – well Lots of harrassment. Lurid phone calls. Things that go bump in the night. I took instruction from a Tupac line “picture me rolling” and did.
My point: Our little struggle in one little town in one state was a tiny temporary victory – but just like a pebble thrown into a cesspool the rings dissipate and it’s all back to business as usual. The only way to fix murkan corruption IMHO is public campaign financing and term limits.
As for Bernie’s “loss” if it looks rotten and smells rotten, it probably is rotten.

Jerry Rubin became a stockbroker and capitalist and denounced his previous work in 1980. That’s when I knew the 1960s, the counterculture, and all that was dead. So the critical moment was 40 years ago, at the beginning of the Reagan Counterrevolution.

The best thing for Democrats is to lose in a landslide to Trump. AOC said a month or two ago that in Europe she and Biden would not be in the same political party. So true. But instead of working to build alternate political parties, many ‘progressives’ insist on working to build the Democrats into something which they aren’t – supporters of the 99%. Sanders, of course, has already said he’ll support whomever decrepit nominee spews from the Democratic Establishment to beat the existential threat of Trump. When baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) hit a median age of 35 in 1990, they collectively owned 21% of the nation’s wealth.
The millennial generation will hit that 35 median age in four years and they are nowhere near owning that percentage.
In fact, this inter-generational wealth chart drawn by economist Gray Kimbrough using Federal Reserve data is a stark illustration of the yawning millennial wealth deficit.

When the social welfare state was dismantled in the 1980’s the argument was that a society could remain stable with a majority profiting from the dismantling. Up to then social scientists maintained that fascism or communism could only be avoided by the social welfare state. And this was basically what Roosevelt’s New Deal or Keynes was about.
All in all people are realistic if equality would be a net cost or net gain to them. The US has 327 million citizens, so the wealth of one billionaire is three dollar per person. To claim that 700 billionaires could heal everybody’s life is – a lie.
There is more robbery in not paying consumer prices that give producers a decent wage. And everybody looking for best price without being interested in how it is produced is complicit in this. Same with ecology – it is consumerism that kills the environment.
Saving the world is very much about lifestyle. Corona virus is doing some good here.

There was obviously a lot of voter suppression going on as in making it difficult for certain types of people to vote. Paper ballots is the only legitimate voting and it is not that difficult to count them if you have enough voting places and people counting. It seems to be not a problem in Europe, if it is not fixed in the US it is intentionally not fixed.
But this cuts both ways. To do a caucus is the exclusion of a lot of people who just have not got the time or passion.

It is absolutely mad that US pharmaceutical companies are able to sell drugs in Canada cheaper than they do in the US. And no – it is not free market. You need a lot of regulation for something like this being viable in the times of mail order.
Doctors in the US have a mean salary of $313,000/year if you believe the internet. If you believe the Internet ratio per 1000 patients is 2.3. This ratio is much higher in most developed countries.
So how about a market solution like training more doctors to lower their wages, or importing Cuban doctors to staff public health centers? Cuban life expectancy IS higher than US life expectancy. So their doctors must be doing something right. Or forcing physicians to treat patients pro bono as a condition for practising and giving credit cards for people who cannot pay for insurance.
It can be explained by monopoly and lobbyism, only, not by free market. Or indifference.
Public insurance in Germany was introduced by reactionaries in the 19th century who wanted to take the power from the Social Democratic Party which had insured their membership. It is common sense, not ideological.
If the ideology is to punish poor people for being poor, oh well ….
Ecology – that is something everybody can enforce by refusing to consume. Comsumers buying or not have most of the power.

While I agree with everything Hedges wrote there except how judgmental he is in regards to Bernie’s ability to exercise more independent power in Congress and to understand how difficult it is for Bernie to have achieved already what no one has achieved, i.e. giving Progressives a formidable presence and voice in the political sphere that cannot be ignored, I ask myself when is Hedges going to STFU and organize and lead his own massive movement he keeps writing about to confront corporate tyranny by taking to the streets and tear the house down as he writes? The DNC wants Bernie to stay in, guaranteeing a brokered convention. That’s been the plan all along. They have no intention of running Biden, they’ll make their choice at the convention; either Hillary or an Obama/Clinton compromise, Mayor Pete?

The DNC has played a great pawn game. pushing one then another culminating in a grand Bait and Switch Gambit sacrificing them all to push a creaky knight who can bring in the desired stalemate, a brokered convention; the game plan all along. The Bernie movement has had only one true and loyal ally on the board the whole time, and that’s Tulsi Gabbard. All the punditry is gaga over the daring play of the DNC; how about some daring play from the movement? There’s no chance that Bern might prevent the brokered convention. There’s no chance that he might gain the nomination. But Tulsi starting fresh with Bernie’s endorsement, and delegates might sweep the board the rest of the way. If there is a movement then this is its chance!
Does anyone out there understand that this is possible? Just as possible as the resurrection of Biden; it’s just strategy! Might seem little daring but otherwise it’s all over. If anyone gets it please help…. it might not be too late.

It seems clear that the mail-ins are significantly more Biden since Biden went from 22.82% to 27.6% so far, while Sanders went from 32.x% to 34.2%.
March 10 primaries: sweep for Biden. Southern states: he crushed Sanders. No Michigan surprise this year, and Biden even won in Washington state.
