that count of injuries from the Iran revenge strike on U.S. Iraqi base has been revised.
ZH from the Pentagon

It appears these injury count updates out of the Pentagon are set to become a weekly thing. But it's of course worth recalling it all began with a "zero" injury and casualty count. By middle of this week the count jumped up to 50 troops injured in the Jan.8 Iran ballistic missile strike on Ayn al-Asad Airbase in Iraq. As we noted Wednesday the figures went from zero to 11 to 34 to 50... and who knows where from here.

The Defense Department said Thursday that 14 more U.S. service members have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury since the Iranian missile attack targeting U.S. forces at two Iraqi bases this month, bringing the total number to 64.

Expect the figures will continue to be revised up...When reports from U.S. "all is well" RU's TASS cited that Reuters had reported 80 killed.

Hausmeister: you are completely right in my opinion and very simply I don't think he has that support any more, certainly not from me. The way I see it there's no longer any reason for anyone at all to support him but a few seem to out of pure stubborn and suffering hope against reality; Qanon, 22th dimensional chess, that sort of thing, but even that seems to be petering out.

For me the Tomahawks against Syria was the final straw after plenty of dismay and that's a good while ago now. I remain convinced Hillary would have killed us all in weeks but he turned into a Hillary "light" and continues getting worse so even that is disappearing, it bought a few years but it's coming to an end and now it's all up to Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China whom all so far have managed it well. Trump was a long shot to begin with but worth trying and supporting as a final political chance in the US to try to turn things around from "our"/the West's side.

Perhaps to some Sanders and Gabbard represents a somewhat similar "last attempt", I personally don't see it but in case it could get that far maybe it's worth it.

karlof1 @ 227

Thank you for posting the Escobar article. I was actually disappointed in the article itself. It sings like Chinese propaganda. The only substance in support of the proposition that a great job has been done is in the genome sequencing and the tracking app. There are lots of tracking apps that can be set up for individual application virtually overnight. The sequencing work was truly impressive given the time given. Unless of course they already knew a great deal about the virus before it got out the door. Note they shared immediately with Russia, who shut its doors to China first if I recall correctly. Perhaps it was actually N. Korea to first close.
"For almost five years now a maximum-security biolab has been operating in Wuhan dedicated to the study of highly pathogenic micro-organisms – set up in partnership with France after the SARS epidemic. In 2017, Nature magazine was warning about the risks of dispersion of pathogenic agents out of this lab. Yet there’s no evidence this might have happened."
That there is no evidence it might have happened is no more probative of anything than the reality that there is no evidence it did not happen. Is the default assumption that China is not working on bioweaponry? Is that a reasonable assumption? The lab was ten miles from the seafood market, and China is a very big place. There have been incidents in the news indicating a possibility China is engaging in biowarfare espionage.
And there have been a number of indications the quarantine efforts are not going as smoothly and easily as has been reported in this article. Anyone investigating the matter via the Internet is certainly frustrated by the lack of information. The article did nothing to change that - where are the facts and references?
Some parties who at least at first glance would appear to be sincere are reporting there are a lot of difficulties...the sort of difficulties that invariably arise in mass emergency situations, and the sort of difficulties one would take as a given if they have spent a little time in a major Asian city and imagined it going into emergency quarantine.
And this: Zerohedge Suspended On Twitter" https://www.zerohedge.com/political/zerohedge-suspended-twitter
If you've been reading their page lately you know why. They're the only ones putting up anything seriously negative on their site. Are they out of control? Are they just throwing click-bait? I check their page nearly every day. They do have some contributors that seem more oriented toward that direction. But the effort to be objective regarding coronavirus on their part appears genuine. That Twitter shut them down is perhaps the single best indication they are a source of truth on the matter.
I don't mean to disparage the Chinese in any way and regardless of who stole or cooked up the virus or why. I just want to know what is going on, same as the rest of you. Having said all the above, to the extent anyone is stimulated in any way by this posting, I thank you in advance for sharing anything you have regardless of position or relative degree of cynicism.

Okay, I'm really pissed. So I'm going to write something some here may find shocking coming from me who believes 110% that Trump is Ziofascist pond scum.

My comment is for Democrats on the off-chance they peruse this site in the shadows. Democrats have suffered and are suffering a karmic skin peel with Trump in power, and then allowing him to stick pins in their raw flesh.

After all the karma they're suffering with Trump, STILL, they learned nothing and are changing the rules to try to hurt Sanders' momentum and sabotage his chances for the nomination! Read the latest shenanigans they're up to.

dnc changes debate rules to rig campaign outcome

convention rules superdelegates

And Hillary is twisting the knife yet again blaming Bernie for not doing more to unite Democrats in 2016 and blaming Bernie for her loss!

hillary slams bernie

IT'S NOT TRUMP WHO HAS TO CHANGE!!! HE WILL ALWAYS BE THE SHET HE IS, BUT UNLIKE YOU SELF-RIGHTEOUS TREACHEROUS DEMOCRATS, TRUMP ENTERED IN 2015 EMBRACING THE NEGLECTED RIGHT-WING BASE, AND RELIGIOUS FRINGE OF HIS PARTY AND HAS BEEN A GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING TO THEM!

YOU DEM-DUMS HAVE ADOPTED CENTRIST/ZIONISM/NEOLIBERALISM, HAVE USED THE LEFT BASE IN EVERY ELECTION AND THEN KICKED THEM TO THE CURB AFTER THEY HELPED YOU ACHIEVE THE PRESIDENCY WITH OBAMA AND YET AGAIN WITH HILLARY'S UNSUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN WHEN YOU RAILROADED BERNIE, AND AGAIN AFTER HELPING WIN BACK THE HOUSE WHEN YOU THEN TRIED TO EAT YOUR OWN, TLAIB AND OMAR.

I HOPE TRUMP MAKES YOU SCREAM IN AGONY FOR YOUR CONTINUED TREACHERY!

SANDERS HAS ALL THE ENERGY ON HIS SIDE TO DEFEAT TRUMP; IF YOU TRY TO DERAIL HIS CAMPAIGN AGAIN; YOU'LL DESERVE 4 MORE YEARS OF TRUMP, YOU FCKING MORONS!!!!!

End of rant--carry on here.

Okay 3rd link got lost. Just google NYT: Hillary Clinton slams Bernie Sanders for not working to unite Democrats in 2016.

That's right Jackrabbit! Bernie was NOT a good little sheepdog like you claim over and over. One only has to remember his face at the Convention to know how he really felt about what that bitter shrew (with the help of her DNC minions) who just can't shut up now did to his campaign then, and she's doing it again.

She's as vindictive as they come.

I've been following this nCoV thing and it is not good. It will continue to play out for 3-4 months before it ends. I lack info just like everyone else but I am shocked by the disinfo and misinfo that started right out of the gate. 23 countries and counting. I have no idea how they will feed the 60m+ locked down sitting in their apartments and waiting. Really shitty.

I saw a very interesting interview of Rick Wiles on TruNews. He was on RT-Arabic with some bozo Israeli MIC shill. It was a really interesting interview. Made me think of paper tiger.

I'm trying to find an effective method of tracking downed military aircraft. The US lost 2 in a week. One was in Afghanistan-UFAF 11-358,a Bombardier E-11A- and the other was a C-227J I believe in Iraq. I am thinking that the Quds Force is campaigning and it will be very costly in treasure and blood. I really hope that this fall sees a change in Cabinet. Pomparse and his sub-human Esper have been a disaster imho. I'm sure that many are hoping for a change in government but I think that, realistically, the Democrats have to first put forward a candidate that isn't a DeepState stooge, aged pedophile, Gay Jewish billionaire, faux Aborigines or.......Jewish Communist.
I think I've made may point.

Willis Eschenbach just posted a takedown of the apparently Grauniad article promoting the “Dungeness Crab dissolving” acidification nonsense: Willis article on WUWT
Much of what I already talked about elsewhere, but Willis also looked into the study in question itself:

They couldn’t see the parts of the crab larvae that they wanted to examine because those parts are covered by the “epicuticle”, the outer layer of the hard carapace that surrounds the larva. So they first had to dissolve the epicuticle in order to get access to what they wanted to study.
...
The carapace epicuticle, which otherwise overlies the crystalline layer and makes dissolution observations impossible, was removed from each megalopa prior to analysis. This was accomplished using sodium hypochlorite,

...
Care to take a guess at the pH of the 6% solution of sodium hypochlorite, which is what they used to dissolve the carapace epicuticle?

It has a pH of 11 or more, almost at the very top of the scale in Figure 1, very strongly alkaline.

So this study complaining about "ocean acidification” dissolving Dungeness Crabs was using ... highly alkaline chemicals to dissolve the Dungeness crab shells so that they could be studied.
Ugh.

There are literally live feeds about the epidemic in the Chinese websites. The problem, evidently, is that the Western MSM doesn't want to play second fiddle and credit the Chinese MSM - which they've been propagandizing to the Western peoples as communist propaganda anyway.

There's another, more macabre, reason why the Western MSM is blacking out its own customer base: they may be using the epidemic as a "cautionary tale" about the "dangers of socialism/communism", and how the West shouldn't "fall for this trap". We can attest this from some opinion pieces (plus an editorial from the NYT) directly blaming China's socialist system for the epidemic. They claim that, if China had a "free press", news about the coronavirus would've become public opinion much earlier, in December 2019.

In other words, they claim China is not giving them first hand access to information so they can be the owners of Chinese public opinion.

Yes, it seems the financial system is not the only sector the West want China to open to the "free market" - they want the media sector too!

In my opinion, this anti-socialist propaganda attempt by the Western MSM is a shot on the foot. All it will do is to strengthen the Chinese people's resolve, and open their eyes to the fact that the West has a much worse propaganda machine than at home. Unless this coronavirus is really "the one", China will only emerge from this epidemic with a better medical-pharmaceutical sector, with more investment in R&D, and more prepared than ever for the next epidemic - which will happen again, and will be in again in China. This will only perfect their logistical know-how and capacity, as necessity is the mother of all inventions. The CCP has also found its excuse to eliminate the last vestiges of the old relgion in China and all the anachronic superstitions that are still very alive and well among its people. Exotic animals are already banned; soon other bizarre customs (like eating rhino horn or tiger penis) will also be banned, and China will be one step to the vanguard of human civilization.

This is about the only source I would trust for accurate info on the virus:

The growing coronavirus epidemic

The website is run by a virology professor that knows his stuff. There are also interesting essays discussing polio virus and the fact that most polio cases now are actually vaccine polio not wild virus (I think I got that right).

Here are some important points from the essay:

The CDC estimates that so far this season (in the USA) there have been at least 15 million influenza illnesses, 140,000 hospitalizations and 8,200 deaths from the disease. There are no travel bans in place to prevent spread of seasonal influenza. Those in place in China, and being considered elsewhere, are an attempt to halt the global spread of 2019-nCoV. I doubt they will be effective...

Uncanny similarity of unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV spike protein to HIV-1 gp120 and Gag
Abstract
We are currently witnessing a major epidemic caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019- nCoV). The evolution of 2019-nCoV remains elusive. We found 4 insertions in the spike glycoprotein (S) which are unique to the 2019-nCoV and are not present in other coronaviruses. Importantly, amino acid residues in all the 4 inserts have identity or similarity to those in the HIV-1 gp120 or HIV-1 Gag. Interestingly, despite the inserts being discontinuous on the primary amino acid sequence, 3D-modelling of the 2019-nCoV suggests that they converge to constitute the receptor binding site. The finding of 4 unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV, all of which have identity /similarity to amino acid residues in key structural proteins of HIV-1 is unlikely to be fortuitous in nature. This work provides yet unknown insights on 2019-nCoV and sheds light on the evolution and pathogenicity of this virus with important implications for diagnosis of this virus.

Here's what TPTB will do in this election to justify sabotaging Sanders campaign. They're going to try to rig everything against Sanders, the candidate who is most genuine and wants to rid the system of corruption and reverse Citizens United. Bernie Sanders impassioned speech in Congress proves his commitment to end corruption:

sanders overturn citizens united

This is a man of perseverance and integrity who never quits and has made powerful enemies. Zionists, Wall Street, private equity firms, the billionaire class are against him. What they will do is try to sabotage his hard work and momentum earned in the primary race from now to the Convention by pouring money into Superpacs to run attack ads everywhere, and if he still makes it, they'll try to install a candidate at the Convention, they'll pretend can defeat Trump. In other words, they'll claim that they had to tweak the process because the end, defeating the most dangerous President in history, justifes the means. However, whether they install Zionist billionaire Bloomberg, establishment Biden, or Neolib centrist Buttigieg, as Nominee, none has a chance of defeating Trump and this will usher in 4 more years of Trump, but as in the last election, they really want Trump. Sanders they fear like Raid and the plague.

This man has courage.

People need to fight like crazy on all fronts to ensure Sanders makes it to the White House. He must win.

@William Gruff,

There's not many home invasions where I live out in the boonies - everyone has a gun or ten and everyone knows it. But people don't strap on a six-shooter and strut around town; that would be just plain rude. Well, except the cops of course.

BERNIE: Not me. US

TRUMP: Make America Me Great Again!

Posted by: Circe | Feb 1 2020 7:01 utc | 317

Circe@317

There are lots of ways to rig the nomination. These include:
(1) Party managed and biased closed caucus' for 68 delegates;
(2) Party managed open caucus' for 14 delegates where republicans and independents can attend;
(3) Closed democratic primaries where not all voters are notified or are scrubbed from the rolls for 1089 delegates;
(4) mixed primaries where unaffilated voters must choose between republican and democratic primaries for 1018 delegates;
(5) open primaries where voters must choose between democratic or republican primaries for 1487 delegates.

I can see how either the Democratic machine or republicans can swing the votes resulting in no candidate getting a majority of votes in the first round. The super delegates will than decide who wins in the second round.

It is a dirty game which may result in the collapse of the Democratic party and Trump's fascists winning. Then there is Killery's secret service refusing to accept a sworn police officer's delivery of a lawsuit my Tulsi Gabbard. Apparently, she is above the law.

Circe @318

It is easy enough to attack Trump's real policies, so attacking the straw man that only exists in your fevered imagination reveals the extent of your delusion. Trump never said what you claim and anybody who doesn't share your Trump Derangement Syndrome delusions knows that and will disregard your posts as the rantings of a tragically brain-damaged, melted-down Team Blue partisan. The only people you can reach with posts like that are ones who already share your delusion and are already fully in the same echo chamber as you. Such straw man attacks actually empower Trump and reinforce the support he receives from those who are not ranting delusional nutcases.

Note: Many Trump supporters take pleasure in observing how far off the rails the TDS victims go. The expressions of grief from 2016 election losers such as yourself brings them great joy. Expressing this grief to them just enhances that joy they experience. Individuals observing both camps (Trumpites and bawling TDS victims) from the outside are more likely to side with the one that is laughing rather than the one that is crying and manufacturing imaginary grievances.

(Aside: Why do your heartfelt expressions of anguish not earn you the cred you think they should? A surprising proportion - to me anyway - of the US population has not embraced new age victim culture and still believe that whining about one's misfortune is disgraceful and not behavior worthy of respect.)

This is just some advice in the off chance that you want to influence people to vote for someone other than Trump in November. Try getting your hyperventilation under control and focus strictly on things happening in the real world and you might be able to erode some of Trump's support.

Most people here are armed as well. My guess about the reason for the difference is that most of the people who are inclined to do home invasions are stupid, lazy, usually drugged, and don't have a car to access more remote locations unless they steal one. The decision to break into someone's home to look for something they can sell at a pawn shop is not one they invest a great deal of effort into. Going out into the countryside to find a victim is too much like work, and these lumpenized types don't really have any work ethic to speak of, so they end up trying to rob a home within easy walking distance of wherever it is that they are shacked up. Smart burglars don't target borderline impoverished working people's homes anyway, so obviously these guys cannot be very bright.

When things happen in the country the dogs bark. One can listen and hear their progress and count the different dogs. This is only one of the small things that can save your life, in combat, and at home. Keep a ball and bat or a pool que as well as "whatever else". In an unexpected moment a gun can bring more trouble than you may wish, or take too long. Depends on the circumstances though.

Like Burroughs said, He'd sure not want to live in a Country where only the cops had guns. Myself? Too old to shoot anybody...eye, hands.

But I'd add to Burroughs' words...the value of a gun is in the having, not so much in the shooting. The having creates caution, and fear. These restrain "sinners" and help them avoid making mistakes.

Posted by: Walter | Feb 1 2020 13:33 utc | 321

@320 William Gruff

He never said that? Gee, you could have fooled me, he's bragging about himself every second day on twitter! Anyway, where I come from actions speak louder than words and all Trump's actions are about making himself and his deep pockets financiers richer and more powerful.

I nearly fell off my chair when you were defending Bernie recently. I'm glad I'm smart enough to get you to show your hand. You just proved you're a forever trumpbot who's for Bernie only because Trump delusionally thinks Bernie will be easier to defeat than Biden. But hey, you're welcome!

Victims are not people who want to take their power back from Ziofascists like Trump, and are ready to fight to make it happen. Victims are not those who will have the audacity to take from the rich, who pay 0% taxes and who use their wealth to gild their mansions instead of paying better wages, and give it to the poor working guy who works 14 hours to feed his kids.

Actions speak louder than this:

Make America Me Great Again!

(...with welfare for the super-rich!)

Actions not words. Authenticity not corruption.

Reactionary racist. IMHO, Sasha above has you pegged about right. Far right.

Class consciousness, which you profess to know so much about has long since assimilated the role of racism in capitalist USA. Self-righteous whiteys are not the only victims of capitalist USA. Nor are they the most victimised. By a long shot. Self-righteous whiteys who stereotype materially and socially impoverished black youths as violent, lazy and stupid (as you have done here very recently in your comments comments) are far from being the class conscious Marxists they profess to be. Something else, very dark and foreboding, is at play here. It is less an identification with the working class than it is an identification with the oppressors who seek to inculcate fear and division among the working class.

Racism is the very foundation of capitalism in the USA.

[L]eft activists often marginalize people of color by operating from a framework of extreme class reductionism, which holds that the "real" issue is class, not race, that "the only color that matters is green," and that issues like racism are mere "identity politics," which should take a backseat to promoting class-based universalism and programs to help working people. This reductionism, by ignoring the way that even middle class and affluent people of color face racism and color-based discrimination (and by presuming that low-income folks of color and low-income whites are equally oppressed, despite a wealth of evidence to the contrary) reinforces white denial, privileges white perspectivism and dismisses the lived reality of people of color.

Even more, as we'll see, it ignores perhaps the most important political lesson regarding the interplay of race and class: namely, that the biggest reason why there is so little working-class consciousness and unity in the Untied States (and thus, why class-based programs to uplift all in need are so much weaker here than in the rest of the industrialized world), is precisely because of racism and the way that white racism has been deliberately inculcated among white working folks.

Only by confronting that directly (rather than sidestepping it as class reductionists seek to do) can we ever hope to build cross-racial, class based coalitions. In other words, for the policies favored by the class reductionist to work--be they social democrats or Marxists--or even to come into being, racism and white supremacy must be challenged directly.

Marx:

Every industrial and commercial center in England possesses a working class divided into two hostile camps, English proletarians and Irish proletarians. The ordinary English worker hates the Irish worker as a competitor who lowers his standard of life. In relation to the Irish worker he feels himself a member of the ruling nation and so turns himself into a tool of the aristocrats and capitalists of his country against Ireland, thus strengthening their domination over himself. He cherishes religious, social and national prejudices against the Irish worker. His attitude is much the same as that of the "poor whites" to the "niggers" in the former slave states of the USA. The Irishman pays him back with interest in his own money. He sees in the English worker at once the accomplice and stupid tool of the English rule in Ireland.

This antagonism is artificially kept alive and intensified by the press, the pulpit, the comic papers, in short by all the means at the disposal of the ruling classes [ed note: kept alive today also through blog posts such as Gruff's]. This antagonism is the secret of the impotence of the English working class, despite its organization. It is the secret by which the capitalist maintains its power. And that class is fully aware of it.

If there's violence, there's going to be some people who were not there telling you what you did wrong, especially if you were right. A dog is usually enough to keep the wolves away, and wake you up in time if he needs help.

In some neighborhoods the occasional single (safely aimed) and anonymous 2 AM blast lets the wolves think you're crazy. That works wonders, as Wally remembers from city life...

Well, you find many things salvageable from the ultra-right (alleged) ideology, many things you say "are common sense", probably because, from living so much between them, you, if you were ever real left-wing ( I mean antifascist, not the decaffeinated form you have in the USA ..), you have become one of them.

You claim that people should have the right to shoot a black man who assaults his house. Why claim this right and not the right for any US citizen to not live below the poverty line in the richest ( alleged ) country on the planet?
That would be the approach of the real left, that's why it sounds to me so strange when, again and again, when I read you, you pretend to be a person of the real left.

You know what? I've been living in my working-class neighborhood for 15 years now, and no one here has ever been assaulted by anyone, local or immigrant. And keep in mind that here, in the North of Spain, blacks are mostly immigrants, even today, although there are already beginning to be generations of indigenous balck or other color people. But what we do with the blacks, or other color people, who come here, and want to stay, is to offer them first aid related to food and shelter, then a way of life, we just try to acommodate and make them active part of society. With those who arrive and are still minors, we take care to give them health care to help them grow healthy first ( some come with serious infectious diseases already errasdicated here..), we treat them, then we make of them good responsible citizens by offering them a possibility to get a formation which allows them to have a future here or anywhere. All this is done not only from solidarity and love, but even from interest, to preserve peace and social welfare for all.

That there are businessmen who take advantage of the arrival of immigrants to low wages, that is not a problem caused by immigrants, but by the greed of businessmen to whom nobody controls or puts a brake. It is an obligation of the state to ensure that the value of the labor force is not lowered at the expense of the precarious, but this can only happen in a socialist state, which the USA is not. This would be the approach of the real left.

Did you know that one of the most reported companies in Spain for abuses against the worker, regarding schedules, conditions of labor, and salaries is Amazon? Why do you think that Jeff Bezos must earn billions and his workers very poor wages? Is he working billions of times more and better than his workers? Does Donald Trump do it in his multiple businesses?
No, man, what these do is to be billions of times more scoundrels than the workers who have the misfortune of having to work for them in a savage capitalist economy like that of the USA ( already exported to the EU...) and the real problem is that there is a "deep state" that consents, and benefit through succulent millionaire bribes from this situation.

That the members of the "ultra-right" have read the works of Marx, and even of Lenin, to study how to deceive the masses and how to gain power through the revolution of the masses ( which is what they are chasing through the chaos and provocations created by Donald Trump at all levels ...), does not mean that they have the most remote intention of applying any social measure once in power. Of course, this is very clear to any European real left, we all remember here how the Nazis called themselves "national-socialists", and even how the German unions came out to demonstrate with them against the previous government, which only helped them to reach power ( hence the reluctance of the French left to join the Yellow Vests... see how it is now the whole society that has taken to the streets against pension reform...). Perhaps you do not see it so clear because you have never suffered an explicitly fascist regime, otherwise you would not be fooling like that with the "ultra-right" ( if you really fool around and are not already fully in their ranks ).

As they clearly express without hesitation in their manifesto on this site "Amerika" (to which they have subtracted two "k" out of little remaining prudence and for the sake confusion spreading ...), this people once in power will not tolerate any expression of the left, nor any diversity at all. Therefore, the model of shameful "apartheid" state, advanced past day by Trump in his so called "deal of the century" will clearly be the model. What they are doing is simply advancing one step at a time towards their fascist state, taking each time one more step without increasing carelessness.

Attitudes of legitimization of fascism happen when you give credibility to part of his speech, even when these are claims of the common people, uneducated or politicized, forgetting what is the crux of his ideology and society project.

Attitudes of legitimization fascism go through asking people not to vote, because there is no alternative between those who have shown themselves as irredeemable scoundrels and those who remain in the system (for now) of whom there is at least the benefit of doubt. ( the point repeated to satiety, so that it penetrates the minds, by the Jackrabbit operative..)

Once the fascists take power, ( if they have not already done so, to see if Trump would accept a defeat with all those armed militias organized...), you will not have a meritocracy-based society, as they claim in their manifest, the only merit that will be necessary to climb the social ladder will be to be a collaborator, for keeping silence, a delator, or criminal or psychopathic enough to do their dirty work, as fascist dictatorships in Europe have historically proven.

It is rare that you do not detect it being, as it seems, a person of high intellectual level, "over-read old man" ( as "swamy donkeynanda" so accutely pointed out...), and allegedly of the real left. Either you are not so intelligent, or do not understand everything you read, or, more likely, you have a spurious interest in these people coming to power.
I venture this for the simple reason that people so different and who have not enjoyed such ample possibilities to study ( such as those who have had well-off people in the USA or those who have had everything for free in the exclusively for them socilaist system of the US Army ) like me, or could be Circe ( I do not know ...), or Kobe Bryant, or anyone else who did it, saw it coming from the first minutes the Trump campaign began.

You may not notice it, or you may be old enough to want a fascist society just to save the rents produced by your considerable savings ( which is why many smart enough to understand what this is all about voted by Trump in the first place ), but there is no future for the USA with a fascist regime ( or for any other, for that matter, as the example of Ukraine and Bolivia so pathetically illustrate ) Simply, the amount of circulating weapons will guarantee that you will end up killing each other, maybe, this time, for the good of the rest of humanity.
Of course, those who are promoting all this, promise themselves that in the confrontation to come the leftists will be eliminated first and in greater quantity, since they, being anti-weapons, do not possess them and will not be able to defend themselves against fascist beasts let go to their agency ... Being half left will not save you from these hordes, as the German experience clearly illustrated, remember, first they came for the communists ... then ... for all the others who did not commune with wheels of mill ... but there were already no commited comunists to face them ..

Black people in the United States who are forced to steal are the product of a society whose motto is "every man for its own", and who boasts of scandalous social unequalities, and not only, on top, as the main "leader" of the nation, Donald Trump, does, scorn those who, because of the lack of opportunities, illness, or whatever issue, are considered losers. There is a point from which people simply go and take the share of participation that they feel corresponds to them in society, especially in one as obscenely rich as yours.

There are other models of society, and other types of leadership, such as Brother Kobe Bryant so clearly exposes ... In order for people to strive, they must first be empowered in the idea that they are also worthwhile, then they must have hope in that their effort is justly valued with a salary or decent income that allows them to acquire the basics to lead a dignified life, and, finally, that that fair value added to everything translates into an environment of peace and social harmony with their neighbors, and, as well, with the rest of humanity.

This is achieved with a team work joined by the whole of society, by not leaving anybody behind, where everyone contributes according to their abilities and is required to the same extent ...That is Marxism Leninism...

I pretty much agree. Wally himself is a moderate commie, and holds rentie types in contempt, but honestly, American Blacks and "colored" generally are just as racist as the racist whites...there's a highly functionalist reality creating harsh and dangerous attitudes. The OSS engineered "schismogenesis" and this was handed off to the CIA, and it's running.

Wally has a few scars from unprovoked attacks by mulatto kids in Oakland. His bother has similar scars from the Hawaiian kids. And he remembers the same from 1960...in California.

Wally the "moderate commie" is bullshitting himself.

Whether some individual blacks are equally racist or whether you have experienced prior episodes of violent crime perpetrated by "mulattos" (Lol) or "Hawaiian kids" (LMAO) isn't even remotely the point. It is beside the point.

Capitalism thrives first on racism to build wealth through exploitation of the powerless and then promotes racism among the working classes to hold onto political power...and to further exploit the working class of all races to build even more wealth and political power.

You have just exposed your service to the capitalist hold on power, or the lack of "class consciousness" as Gruff also the Fake introduced in his comments...and the sad thing is you don't even understand yourself, lost in the needy attempt at being clever.

Of course you are right, this situation of divide and conquer and reign amongst chaos is absolutely a construct of TPTB. Otherwise you will be aware that uniting amongst yourselves you will be able to get rid of those parasites and evolve to a more promising future.

Only, with all the grudges and divide accumulated, I am not so sure you will be able to change things if not after a great carnage coming out of a real civil war, or even ever, since civil war will create more grudges and divide...

Who will beneffit always, the great capital, business and great propietors, as happened during last German Reich....

Thanks. I still get my Union magazine every month. It's in 4 languages, whatever racism there is, it is not in my "local", which covers 4 states.

Any funny business is quickly turned to zero at the jobsite or at the Union Hall. Yes, members hold racist view. But these do not apply to the union brother, not in the slightest, so far as I have seen. It's Solidarity.

When I joined, years ago, the membership generally held IWW sort of views, one Big Union, and the call for a "two week general strike" found favor - the only objections being centered on how to get it going. I continue to generally agree with IWW. And have worked with real old Wobblies...cool guys, all gone now.

Work of Fridays was voluntary and at time and a half. And we had wildcat "industrial action"

I loved it. Now, however, things are more compromised. Pity.

Wally

I am your age.

Shismogenesis is an Orwellian term created by over-read academics to explain a a phenomenon as old as humanity, indeed one that Marx applied to race during the 19th century. Its invocation here merely serves to rationalise capitalist control and our accceptance of our own indoctrination into racist attitudes from youth.

Rationalising racism is similar to rationalising fascism....it promotes more racist and fascist attitudes.

2 days left to Iowa. No time to talk about the weather...

Lemme tell you something about Bernie. He's a REBEL forever...with a cause. It takes one to know one. Unlike me, however, lucky Bernie was a college kid when Democracy was still REAL, and there were real knock-down, drag-out fights in the streets to protect freedom and our lovable curmudgeon Bernie even got arrested and he wasn't taking it lightly, either.

He was young when when music was soulful, rich and reactionary, and there was political genius everywhere MLK, Malcolm X, Robert and John. And on and on.

So Bernie who has a lot of rebel fire in his belly, is a natural energizer. He knows how to generate passion, excitement, drive, fight, and he has an army of supporters feeling that bern, AND THEREFORE, HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN BEAT TRUMP! (I dare anyone to claim same of the other candidates Neolibs have been pushing and pushing like DEAD WEIGHT.)

Now I'm going to commit heresy here by agreeing with someone, a Neolib, who also has been pushing all the loser Neolib candidates on his viewers, and who I usually can't stand, but often watch cause he ain't stupid all the time. So I was surprised this week when he finally WOKE and saw the light.

Watch and listen, cause he sure hit a rare home run with this one!

Yes, I expect you're right that it an old method, and idea. Another name, more general perhaps, is The Old Army Game. Of course it's old. The point is that there was developed by OSS a formal policy set and a "how to", and a project is running. See NYT 1619 project. That's part of the Project.

What is "over-read"? I myself tried to explain this concept, and failed, when I was learning to read. I failed. I am jealous. How do you know the situation as over-read, when you do not know the cats' name (and have not asked for it)?

Orwell did not use the term, so far as I know the specific came from a guy at OSS. If I were over-read I'd remember his name. It came, the formal methodology, not prior to the OSS formalization. Though naturally the general theme is as old as ambition itself. Wolves do it to antelope.

You do not know my age. Your claim about yours matching mine might be bs. Did the machine let you down?

How do you know your age? Is it what somebody told you?

Posted by: Walter | Feb 1 2020 16:17 utc | 342

Walter - no worries on the specifics. Orwellian as a term means approximately (w/o looking it up) overly complicating when something simpler and more precise is better.

My thought in that comment above was more a general warning to us all (including me, myself and I) to constantly remain en garde against the facile acceptance of fascism which pervades not only present political reality but also our every waking and sleeping moment these days.

Not aimed at you at all. Sorry to point it at you.

BTW, moderate commie is preferable to left wing commie in any event.

The left wing commie demands purity and solutions which don't actually exist in the present time or place and is as great a danger in these times of seeping fascism as the out and out fascist him or herself.

Have a great day, Wally!

Posted by: donkeytale | Feb 1 2020 16:42 utc | 343

Hey DT. Cool. My view is there's no purity that doesn't corrupt - not in the political arena. And not in religions. We muddle. and try to do the best under the circumstance. Marx himself says ethics is circumstantial - but I do not recall the quote. Pop was serious about Marxism, mom less, but used the theory all her life. What's left for us here, now, is that we can honor labor and resist in small ways, generally by kindness or forbearance. I have copies of the grilling McCarthy's dog Ray Cohn gave pop. Once burned, twice shy...so "moderate". Intimidation works.

We try to avoid schadenfreude, but when Ray dropped off the twig there was the temptation to indulge in it.

On the recurrent advice here on not going to vote, remember that the "ultra-right" and all its franchises ( "alt-right", "moderate right", "conservatives"..this is the same contruct as with IS...) always go to vote, ans this is the way they win elections, of course, after previously having dicredited and disbanded the left enough, having killed any hope of change, and create enough distrust and chaos so as to get the rest of the country, apart from them, paralized from any mobilization to do something to keep safe and alive...

It is as if they would induce and achieve a collective suicide of the sane part of society.

Against allegations on that everything will remain the same, bring your representatives accountant on this, in case the laws do not allow it, change the laws, and even the Constitution if necessary,, as they do whenever they feel like to do it to guarantee their hegemony.
There are currently Constituent processes in some countries in LatinAmercia, like Chile, one does not have to accomodate to a Constitution dictated by the right wing forces and neocons, most of the time at gun, or tank, point.

Other Constituent processes will be necessary everywhere until the world becomes a fairer place, and peace and progress can have an opportunity. The EU is not free of this either, of course, as its statutes were created to asure the rate of profit of the big banks and big business over any welfare for the citizenry in an intent to overthrow the social contract achieved after the last great war.

As we see that the "end of history" was not such, as well we must rejoin the fight for our rights, since nothing is unamovable, as the laws of phisics so clearly expose.

That there is a natural order, where inequalities and hierarchies are unavoidable, and, moreover, that this has been designed by God, is a fairy tale the "ultra-right" tells you so as to get you giving up your rights and freedoms so that their perivleges prevail.

Jesus was, precisely, as their books clearly illustrate, the first in questioning the stablished oppresive, pharisaic, unequal, order.

Apropos of the theme of politics generally, see
"Sydney Ducks and vigilante justice in SF, 1851" @ sfgate

The article is the half said watered down version. The facts are far more interesting...a "public secret". The volunteer fire stations ran the city for 2 years, as I recall.

That's because the Governor was afraid to interfere, and it was not a matter relevant to the federal government...

How times change...

(at a popular occasion) "...Citizens, fed up that the court and prisons were turning a blind eye, formed a vigilante committee in 1851. When a Duck was spotted soon after stealing a safe from a store on Commercial Street, a dozen members of the newly formed Committee on Vigilance pursued, chasing the thief on foot and in rowboats as he unsuccessfully tried to scull away. The accused was tried in a vigilante court, and hanged five hours later from the Mexican customs house before a crowd of 1,000 in Portsmouth Square.

After the third lynching, the Ducks got out of town, many returning to Australia where another gold boom was under way. "

I'd never advocate such things, but also never deny that they happen when Government fails to stand up for honest working people.

If it is true that the Chinese Communist party has roughly 100 million members, then it has no challenge whatsoever on Earth on being the biggest active and working organisation or association.I can't think of another shared interest club with more members, maybe someone can.The catholic church ,islam, hinduism, buddhism may have more believers, but they are not organized and able to play in a similar way on society.Soccer fans outnumber the CCP as well,as do car owners, but those are not working and acting together to a common goal.Yes,I understand Pompeo wetting his pants vis a vis so much determination. He's got bad press lately,I read a lot of 2699 comments in the NYT article about him bullying a wellknown (not to me being from europe)female journalist. Many commenters stating he is not apt to diplomacy and should not represent USA abroad. Then loosing a One billion airplane because of his assassination of foreign officials might give D.Trump a reason to fire him,but that would look very bad in the actual situation, and would raise too many questions of the kind MSM wants you to forget.

William Gruff @ 296

Your comment “I hoped as a teacher to help steer disadvantaged kids towards rewarding lives.” brought back some of the points brought forth by the Archdruid several years ago. In the essay “the rescue game” he pointed out that the system was never meant as a means to bootstrap the disadvantaged out of their misery.
http://archdruidmirror.blogspot.com/2017/06/american-narratives-rescue-game.html

The game consists of three players Victim, Persecutor, or Rescuer:
“The first two roles are allowed one move each: the Victim’s move is to suffer, and the Persecutor’s move is to make the Victim suffer. The Rescuer is allowed two moves: to sympathize with the Victim and to punish the Persecutor. No other moves are allowed, and no player is allowed to make a move that belongs to a different role.”

“In the Rescue Game, in other words, whatever a Victim does must be interpreted as a cry of pain. Whatever a Persecutor does is treated as something that’s intended to cause pain to a Victim, and whatever a Rescuer does, by definition, either expresses sympathy for a Victim or inflicts well-deserved punishment on a Persecutor. This is true even when the actions performed by the three people in question happen to be identical. In a well-played Rescue Game, quite a bit of ingenuity can go into assigning every action its proper meaning as a move. “

The Archdruid goes on to point out that the game applies to politics too:

“A variant of that game still goes on in the pseudoconservative end of American politics. When Hillary Clinton went out of her way to characterize African-American youth as “superpredators” not that many years ago, she was playing a version of that same game, in which law-abiding white citizens were the Victims, black youth were the Persecutors, and white politicians were the Rescuers. On the other end of the political spectrum, of course, the roles are reversed; in games played on that field, people of color are the Victims, working class white people are the Persecutors, and affluent white liberals are the Rescuers. The players have changed places but the game’s otherwise identical.”

The Archdruid also points out that political systems have been taken over by insiders who use it for their own benefit. Eventually all organization succumb to the insiders, for example donors to the Red Cross for the Haiti earthquake victims later found out that the only six houses were built and the rest of the 500 million was syphoned off by the Red Cross bureaucrats. The Clinton Foundation also got into the game of raising money for the victims and used it to “enhance” the Foundation.
https://thearchdruidreport-archive.200605.xyz/2012/08/the-degeneration-of-politics.html

I share the Archdruid’s viewpoint that western civilization is facing catabolic collapse and playing the rescuer game or any other game is futile.
https://www.ecoshock.org/transcripts/greer_on_collapse.pdf

I gain some comfort in economically unproductive activities such as commenting at MoA in hopes that this preserves some portion of knowledge as monks did in the dark ages

go to 26.36

the only way to have any peace, is to be violent. And from the violence then comes the peace of mind once you let it exploded and let out that violence. Too many people walk around with it being locked up inside them, and [...] about release. And expression.

Not a genuine transcript, but that's what I could gather. I find this quote from a rock singer rather remarkable. And it's not the usual rock singer with drugs and alcohol you may expect. It's a rock singer with the usual drug and alcohol thing that by miracle has kept his mind intact. There are videos many years later where he still has his mind alive. This is exceptional. Probably one of the greatest minds and rock stars.

One has to go into it, to understand what it is all about. Before that, one cannot understand how it is. And for those who don't like artists and musicians: they are in a different realm. They assume the role of entertainers, clowns, freaks. As clowns, they often, or sometimes, reveal much more truth than any paper, scientist, or media outlet would provide. They are clowns but halfway sages.

Follow the (real) clowns and comedians. They often are allowed to tell more truth than any other official person. Of course there are other clowns which are not to be followed. Ignore the machine.

"Gabbard is the US' only chance at a sane, rational and somewhat independent-minded POTUS." Post 25 (I believe)

Whenever Gabbard needs to penetrate the mind of America, there is always a helpful boost. It could be Killary calling her a "Russian agent" or Google censoring her (and her having to sue them). Wow, I am just amazed at her/his ability to get publicity. It does not take anymore than 15 minutes to search Gabbard, look at her/his pictures and come to a reasonable conclusion that he/she is misrepresenting her/his self.
There are over 200 significant anatomical variances between men and women. I won't even get into 'q angle' or any technical ones. Dentition: men have wider, more pronounced upper teeth;this also ties into the jaw which is often more pronounced and squarer. In order to hide the adam's apple, it is necessary to do throat surgery. Tellingly, there are residual wrinkles and abnormalities that go with this. There are issues with the brow ridge; men's are more pronounced. Hair lines. Eyes. Shoulders. Digit ratios.

A person can deviate on a few. This is normal. They cannot, however, deviate on a significant number and not begin to become questionable to the trained eye. I looked into this several years ago. I have found it very easy to spot what doesn't look right. It also helped that I barely watched any tv for 2 decades. Now I see square-jawed, heavily made up 'female' newscasters on channel after channel. It is uncanny, the level of deception and psyop being perpetrated on the people of this world. This goes beyond the West but is more pronounced here at this point in time.

Tulsi is not a woman. She is hiding one of the most basic facts about 'herself' from voters: sex. This is, imho, fraud. She isn't the only one. The attractive transgender ftm's go to Hollywood and the unattractive go to DC.
I understand that people want a reasonable person to vote for and represent them. I respect that and I'm all for republican government. That is why I feel it necessary to point this out; I don't like seeing people deceived and lied to. Unfortunately, I have to conclude that Tulsi Gabbard is another deceiver.
Take the time to check this out for yourself.

I'm cool with queers dressing up. Who gives a chit? But...

That's a chick. A tough chick, but a chick. The tough chicks have square jaws, sometimes. Sometimes they're kinky too...so she might have a few personal secrets, but a weewee isn't on e of them.

Oh yeah, they say FO a lot too. I'd have given her a try if I'd a met her in the day. She's cute.

Perhaps this link may explain why the Democratic party opposes Sanders and Gabbard. I am afraid that Trump will be reelected. Perhaps, Trump will give all Americans Israeli citizenship on the way to the Rapture.

What do your lies and mud slinging against Tulsi Gabbard have anything do with the election. Are you just another republican hack throwing grenades? The DNC is already doing a lot to stop her.

dorge @ 360.. you have mentioned this transgender thing on moa before in reference to tulsi gabbard... you're insane!! she is a she...

Posted by: james | Feb 2 2020 2:04 utc | 366

Wow. Complete inability to actually look at a person objectively and see that they are being sold a product. The DNC has really pulled off an amazing fraud. They have otherwise, seemingly intelligent adults completely unwilling to investigate anything, cheering on people who will become bit players in a game that they have rigged.
I'm pretty much convinced that this impeachment affair was a massive fraud. Hardly any Americans paid attention to the all the E.O.'s and escalation of drone warfare under Trump over the last few years.'
You guys are totally licked. Completely incapable of even doing any objective analysis of your owned media.
Also known as beyond f@cked.
Gabbbard is part of a strategy of picking very specific attributes, putting it together in a package and selling it to the consumer. I find it amazing that people think their is any authenticity to her at all. But then again, November 2016 saw millions of voters crying, literally crying on the Internet that Hillary Clinton had lost.

dorge - i don't live in the usa and have no horse in the race... i am telling you, you're nuts here... take it fwiw... we can talk about how many transgender people you know, but i don't know if it would matter as you are clearly off your rocker and unable to see it.. i take it this is some insane republican conspiracy theory you are pushing??

Only Sanders supported the environmental protesters against the turncoat democratic governor of Colorado who is bought out by frackers.

Krollchem and Noirette thank you both for your insightful post about french political landscape. It is really a rigged system.Candidates to presidency must show 500 mayor's signatures, which reduces a lot of vocations because mayors are pressed from up the higher levels to not give their signature. All of french mass media are owned by 7 extremely wealthy industrials and arms dealers. They put up Macron, and the french people is always deluded at every election.Marine le Pen's party is the useful deterrant to make voters vote for the other one.In the last elections,it went almost wrong, when Melenchon was not far from being in the second round against Le Pen,but by means of mediahype three days before the first round combined with electoral fraud (in Lyon)and other places, counting unvalid and white votes as Macron's,they were just able to make it Macron versus extreme right.(Do you know that french voter's votes are totalized in Denver,Colorado?)

Regarding Melenchon,he is an actor that plays the lefty opposition part the oligarchy has written for him.Never he has actually attacked government on foreign wars. And I think Sanders plays exactly the same role on a different stage, which does not mean that I say you americans shouldn't vote for Bernie, because if it is the last chance, you should take it.
Personally I think americans, with all their weapons, should constitute Baader-Meinhof-like cells,to individually kidnap,or take out the ultra rich, and congressmen from reps and dems as well.I'm sure media would diabolize them as terrorists, but many americans would applaud.

Thanks for adding the process in which the French election was rigged.

Voltaire Network has a recent article on why there are major demonstrations in 48 countries against their governments. The leaders after awhile became insiders who are just looting the treasury.

@Sasha #332
While I am increasingly leaning left on social issues, the reality is that lots of immigrants = lower wages for less skilled Americans.
And big business, as well as the wealthy, know this full well.
The H1B program, the ongoing use of illegal immigrants for house workers by politicians and the wealthy, there are innumerable public examples.
Thus your view that the government can fix the problem, is not correct if a part of the problem is immigrants forcing wages down.
Note also that the "unrestricted" immigration only hurts the lesser skilled Americans. There are all manner of barriers in place preventing foreign doctors, lawyers, and what not from competing with their American counterparts in the USA.
Capitalism or not isn't precisely the problem - the problem is complex but IMO more a case of the ruling classes increasingly not caring about the rest of the country, so long as it benefits itself.
This is a power problem - not fascism per se or capitalism or communism.

I was under the impression that BMH was pretty well being run by intel/gladio sorts of the German intelserv.

I seem to recall that "somehow" they all shot themselves in jail...but it's vague.

Nevertheless, we must not advocate such things as you seem to favor. But then there's History. Vigilantes happen. That's an indisputable true thing. I recall that in the matter of The Sidney Ducks the volunteer fire brigades ran 'Frisco for about 2 years. The people were ok with it. Stuff happens...

And when California started to pass laws, most all the mining towns and camps resisted - they strongly preferred the Vigilantes.

That movement was coordinated through, primarily, the Masonic Lodges.
It's obscure history, gone like smoke...

ooops, forgot. The Germans might be standing up, in a way, see>
„Wir sollten uns an nuklearer Abschreckung beteiligen“ @ tagspeigle

"In contrast to the Germans, France has its own nuclear weapons with the “Force de frappe”. Don't they have to be involved if the EU is to become more effective in foreign and security policy?
Absolutely. We need to consider working with France on nuclear weapons. Germany should be ready to participate in this nuclear deterrent with its own capabilities and resources. In return, France should put them under joint command from the EU or NATO."

How Jolly!
