Hey Ghost Ship or Zachary Smith or anyone else mildly curious about Dr. Suzanne Humphries: here is a testimonial given by the Doctor to the West Virginia Education Commitee RE: philosophical/religious exemptions.

Doesn't seem like a homeopathic quack to me. Seems like a concerned Dr. That values her patients' liberty and informed consent.

Maybe that makes her a bad Dr. to those in the new religion though of cowtowing to "authority."

Nice work Russ @ 81. A number of important themes there.

Sounds like a perfect storm. Monoculture agriculture nurtured by antibiotics. Vaccines dominated by liability free and profit driven corporations. Displaced populations.

We need to get greed out of these equations and replace with common sense.

""Here we have a clear black and white division between humanity and a criminal elite. We have the aggressive elite power of the US and other Western governments, corporations, the mainstream media and technocratic establishment, and other elitists including racist liberals and NGOs""

""Those opposing this assault comprise a truly representative lineup of African farmers, pastoralists, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, and the citizenry in general.""

Nemesis: anyone who uses religion to argue in any way about anything related to science or medicine is a hack and a quack and should be wholly removed from the discussion. People who have non-religious-based issues with vaccines are free to debate; those who use any religious-minded argument can get lost, they're part of the problem we have with mankind right now.

Posted by: Clueless Joe | Feb 4, 2019 9:16:55 PM | 103

@103 clueless joe

You can count me among not only philosophical objectors to compulsory vaccination but also religious. The MMR vaccine and others had its genesis in aborted fetal cells harvested in the 60's. Descendents of these cells are still present in the current production lines.

I don't suppose you are aware of the Roman Catholic Church's teachings on abortion, let alone profitting off the use of aborted fetal cells?

I'm sure you are. So i guess that means that we need to find a place for these religious exemptors, including myself, because we are clearly part of the problem. But first things first: we need to attach some kind of marker to their clothing so we know they are religious. And then...yes, yes...then we can put them somewhere. Because they are problem that is not going away.

...

I guess in this world, we just need to accept that people like religion. And try to deal with it. Or just call them a problem.

We should let you decide.

If vaccines were inherently harmful, then rich people wouldn't get them--but they do. IMO the big factor in people's modern health difficulties is the chemicals and hormones pumped into food and the toxic environments in which said food is grown/raised.

@ Peter AU 1 #92

I made a quick search for the possible distance that airliner could have flown from its last known position.

http://www.airsafenews.com/2014/03/how-far-malaysia-airlines-flight-mh370.html

It would have barely gotten to Diego Garcia, and anywhere near Madagascar was out of the question. And I'd say that if it came within several hundred miles of Diego Garcia, the radars there would have instantly detected it. No need at all for seismic methods.

Posted by: Zachary Smith | Feb 4, 2019 10:33:47 PM | 106

Zachary Smith 106

I thought Madagascar a bit far also but Diego Garcia was within range. What I was more interested in was the 25 minute gap in the acoustic data from Diego Garcia, though there was no mention of if this gap in the data coincided when MH370 reached or was near Diego Garcia if it had flown that way.
There is a lot here that Australia and the US are covering up. Australia being part of five eyes, US would be very much integrated into the over the horizon radar.
Some wreckage was found at Madagascar so I take it MH370 was downed or crashed rather than landed. US would also have long distance radar at Diego Garcia so between the Australian radar and the US at Diego Garcia, most of the Indian ocean would be covered.

How do you know what the elites get in terms of vaccines?

According to this Bill Gates did not vaccinate his kids.

https://www.transcend.org/tms/2018/02/bill-gates-former-doctor-says-billionaire-refused-to-vaccinate-his-children/

I dont know if its true but I also dont know that he did vaccinate.

Hollywood reporter Gary Baum found that over the last two years, the number of PBEs filed in L.A County has increased by 2.2 percent overall, but some of the most elite preschools that serve the rich have jumped by 57-68 percent during that same time span. He discovered that some schools in the most affluent L.A neighborhoods have vaccination rates lower than Southern Sudan

Nemesis calling. “Hey pft, could you provide a reference to your pre-vaccine mortality numbers for measles? You mentioned 1960 having a .24 per 100,000 cases. I have only seen much higher, but realize that the cdc likes to cook the books”

I got that straight from the book Dissolving Illusions

“The official 1960 number of deaths from measles in the United States was recorded as 380, with the population during that year at 180,671,000. This equaled a mortality rate for measles of 0.24 per 100,000. Statistics from 1963 show that, relative to many other causes of death, measles was extremely low.”

The following is a short posting from Xinhuanet about Iran/EU that I haven't seen elsewhere
"
TEHRAN, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian judiciary chief said on Monday that his country would never accept the "humiliating conditions" in the EU's payment channel for trade with Iran, Tasnim news agency reported.

"After nine months of procrastination and negotiation, Europeans have created a mechanism with limited capacity, not for exchanging money but for food and medicine," said Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.

The first "strange" condition is that Iran should join the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) while the other is that the country should enter the negotiations on its missile program, according to Larijani.

"Iran will by no means accept these humiliating conditions and will not accede to any demand at the expense of opening a small waterway such as INSTEX," he said.

On Thursday, the EU announced the setting up of INSTEX (Instrument In Support of Trade Exchanges) by Britain, Germany and France to secure trade with Iran and skirt U.S. anti-Iran sanctions after Washington pulled out of the 2015 landmark nuclear deal last May.

psychohistorian 111

Ib did read that somewhere earlier today. Part of the conditions apparently is that INSTEX will only be used for medical and humanitarian supplies. Seems like the EU trying to appease uncle sam while at the same time keeping a foot in the door with Iran. Rather than keeping a foot in door with Iran, all they are doing is ensuring that they continue as uncle sams door mat.

Users must stop filling this website with anti-vaccine crap. I have no doubt that the medical and pharma industry, especially in the USA, are corrupt to the extreme and that many drugs are over-prescribed, but to deny the health advances of vaccination is buying into Cold War McCarthyite anti-communist propaganda of the John Birch Society, various discredited studies, and US/CIA backed religious fundimentalist propaganda meant to attack well-being in the global south, where free abortions, sanitation, and birth control are desperately needed (as they are in Britain and America, where rights have been cut off by Tory/GOP cuts). I don't see how these discussions do anything except discredit a needed forum for discussions of multinational imperialism, political subversion by elites and shadowy players, and human rights dialogue.

For the record, I strongly oppose GMOs, the use of chemicals in food, and the rapacious industrialised drug conglomerates, but attacking all vaccines is like believing in PizzaGate, Qanon, chemtrails, flat earth etc, it discredits everything reasonable you say which is a shame because this website is far more "woke" on foreign policy than all mainstream media and furthermore, provides a "think tank" for the masses.

@ karlof1 90-91

I never heard of the LeCarre but will make a note of it, thanks. JB Foster is one of the best in reviving Marx's early work on ecology and especially commodity agriculture's "metabolic rift" between country and city. Unfortunately Marx didn't follow up much on that, but Foster has taken up the thread of Marxian eco-socialism. From what I've read it's still utopian in thinking that better social organization can render inherently destructive practices non-destructive.

timothy 105

Actually the non-vaccination rate is higher than average in many affluent communities. Just like those who can easily afford it are more likely to eat organic even as they politically support poison-based agriculture.

Exactly what I say about the Mammon/statism/scientism religion. Meanwhile not a single detractor has answered a single one of my points, which are purely about authoritarian politics and the glaring discrepancy between the mobbers' homicidal hysteria against an ad hoc group of non-vaccinators vs. their total silence on the corporate state's massive institutional campaign driving the antibiotic crisis. That's my Exhibit A that the pro-vaccine mob is lying about its motives, and no one here is even trying to answer me. I take that as further confirmation.

When you see someone defending industrial agriculture, do you go into attack mode and denounce the great threat to public health of that sector's antibiotic abuse? Or is your rage only triggered by the relatively infinitesimal potential harms of non-vaccination? If so, that proves that any claim or yours to be concerned about public health is a lie. In my experience that's how they all are, and it's been confirmed here again. That's why I call them "proxxers", because their rage over the "public health" is clearly a lie and is a proxy for something else. It's a proxy for their religious rage that their state-worship and techno-worship is being insulted. According to this religion non-vaccinators are infidels who must be smitten, whereas the corporate destroyers of antibiotics are among the elite priesthood, so by definition their action is righteous. Only that explains the glaring discrepancy.

My theory on this fits all the evidence.

@ pretzel 86

"what i'm comprehending, russ, is you think it is some kind of corporate unscientific conspiracy. that's bullshit."

Then like I said you're comprehending very poorly. Did you happen to notice what the exchange was even about? It wasn't about climate change.

To help you out, obviously anthropogenic climate change is real. But your "movement" has been a sham all along. Thirty years since the IPCC was formed (your highly conservative IPCC whose projections always are outstripped by reality and which to this day refuses to factor in most likely feedback effects) and the UNFCCC began, and that whole time emissions have increased and continue to increase at an increasing rate, while sink destruction continues to escalate. Heckuva job!

But it's really no accident, since your climate movement is the epitome of the whole trend of fake mainstream Big NGO "environmentalism" which wants to collaborate with the corporate destroyers in "managing" the eco-destruction, since all your good hand-wringing crocodile-tearing Western liberals still want all the worthless material junk which requires the murder of the Earth. Sound familiar? Describe you?

So I'm saying the climate crisis is real, that it's far worse than the mainstream climate movement claims for public consumption, and that this movement really is running a scam, since there's really one and only one way to avert the worst of global heating and climate chaos:

End all industrial emissions; stop destroying sinks; rebuild sinks and let natural sinks resume their natural places on the land.

This is the ONLY way, and it's incompatible with your extreme energy usage, capitalism, productionism. (Aren't you the one who tried to argue with me by claiming that climate scientists don't tout only capitalist fake "solutions", yet you couldn't produce a single high-profile example, or indeed any example at all?) What I said to CorpSpin above is that I'd bet he's typical in sticking only with smug "right belief" but would never agree to the actions necessary to avert the worst, because no doubt he too wants all the worthless destructive junk and chooses it over the future of humanity and the Earth. This is the purpose of this fake movement, to fiddle while Earth burns.

Posted by: Russ | Feb 5, 2019 2:10:02 AM | 118

russ first tell of a climate change shill "your movement". it's not my movement, it's a worldwide scientific agreement. second tell, poorly reasoned arguments such as your linkage of emissions getting worse with the formation of the ipcc. newsflash einstein, there has been a multi decade long propaganda campaign, and capture of government, by some of the most powerful corporations on the planet (the ones you, oddly, don't blame) to undermine any action on climate change. third, they didn't understand the science as well in 1989 as they do now, climate change is indeed worse than expected, and to the extent this is true, it is for both scientific reasons (tipping points) and political reasons (the giant fossil fuel companies you ignore while blaming consumers, liberals, anybody but the main cause, the corporations, while weeping copious crocodile tears of your own.
you're right, it is fucking real, and it is worse, and the only way to mitigate it is by concerted government action against the fossil fuel companies, not by blaming anybody and everybody else.

Posted by: pretzelattack | Feb 5, 2019 7:32:01 AM | 119

@113 Blooming Barricade

Try to understand. There is no post that I can see in this thread that is anti-science or vehemontly antivaccine just because.

For myself, I object to compulsory vaccination to attend school, which has its motivations in dubious claims of herd immunity, a trumpetting of the effectiveness of vaccines when their history has shown credit should be at least equally shared with the effects of sanitation and hygiene, which is rarely mentioned from those who tout vaccines as 100% effective, and the fact that with compulsory vacccination soon to be mandated compulsory vaccination for everyone via Obamacare-type punative measures of fees and civil penalities, etc., the continuing question of efficacy anf safety with regards to vaccines is unscientifically dismissed in favor of politics that betrays liberty, informed consent, and full disclosure.

In other words, compulsory vacccination is the isdue and not necessarily the efficacy and safety of vaccines themselves.

Again, try to understand the difference.

pretzel 119

Still can't find a climate scientist who admits that the crisis can't be faced within capitalism?

It's amazing that you still haven't gotten the word after all this time, all this evidence, that your government will never take "action against the fossil fuel companies". By now it's impossible still to say such a thing unless one is lying or extraordinarily impervious to evidence. I suggest you read up a bit on how much CO2 the Pentagon emits, and how much interest there is among your Democrats in doing anything to rein that in. And how Obama still brags to this day about how the big fracking surge came during his presidency. He says "I did that."

It is your political movement, whose ideology boils down to:

The way to deal with the climate crisis is More and Better Capitalism! Keep Shopping! And of course Keep Driving.

(How's Walmart's "sustainability" initiative going? I haven't been keeping up, but you must follow it eagerly. How about Monsanto and ADM's "climate smart agriculture" and "responsible soy"? You must be a big fan of those. "Beyond Petroleum"? my my...And ExxonMobil itself promises climate redemption through GM algae.)

You have all those politics in common with ExxonMobil. I reject all the peas in your shared pod. I would abolish all corporations today and put a total stop to all their destructive actions. It's you and your fellow consumers and liberals who prevent any such action.

Meanwhile the science agrees 100% with me. It agrees that there's one and only one way to avert the worst of global heating and climate chaos:

End all industrial emissions; stop destroying sinks; rebuild sinks and let natural sinks resume their natural places on the land.

The science says this is the ONLY way, and it's incompatible with your extreme energy usage, capitalism, productionism. It directly contradicts each and every fundamental of your fake pro-corporate "climate movement."

If it's not a scam, why do your Leaders all talk in terms of trying to limit heating to 2 degrees by 2100 (of course pretending the inevitable non-linear methane surge will never happen), or even 1.5, when anyone who knows paleoclimatic history knows that at least 5 degrees already is locked in? The reason is in order to propagate the lie that there's still a "carbon budget" left for civilization to spend (the IPCC has engaged in all kind of goalpost moving in order to maintain the fiction of this budget), so that your movement can still endorse the continuation of the great bonfire of the Earth.

"There is no post that I can see in this thread that is anti-science or vehemontly antivaccine just because."

It seems like none of these people are intellectually capable of separating science and the politics of any controversy over technological deployment (always an economic/political/cultural matter, never a scientific one) and keeping straight which is which.

"Anti-science" is an epithet they're all taught to spew by their corporate propagandist Leaders. Otherwise it never would have occurred to them. If they're thinking of buying a used car and someone tells them, "The brakes on that car don't work," they don't immediately start frothing "brakes DO work, you're anti-science!" No, it only comes up where big profits are at stake yet people distrust a shoddy corporate product.

Some of your words:
"For the record, I strongly oppose GMOs, the use of chemicals in food, and the rapacious industrialised drug conglomerates, but attacking all vaccines is like believing in PizzaGate, Qanon, chemtrails, flat earth etc, it discredits everything reasonable you say which is a shame because this website is far more "woke" on foreign policy than all mainstream media and furthermore, provides a "think tank" for the masses."

Previously you posted "Users must stop filling this website with anti-vaccine crap." and

" I don't see how these discussions do anything except discredit a needed forum for discussions of multinational imperialism, political subversion by elites and shadowy players, and human rights dialogue."

Your words above reveal either naivete on your part and confused thinking, or a rather blatant attempt at 'fake news' - propaganda. I'm going to assume the former unless you reinforce the latter.

First of all, note the imperative tone you used: "users must stop" and what must they stop: "filling this website with anti-vaccine crap." The website is clearly not full of "anti-vaccine crap." What the discussion of vaccines here has done has touch upon an important element of the broad category that you define as the proper subjects for this forum, namely "discussions of multinational imperialism, political subversion by elites and shadowy players, and human rights dialogue."

But then you go on to conflate various subjects: "attacking all vaccines is like believing in PizzaGate, Qanon, chemtrails, flat earth etc, it discredits everything reasonable...."

First of all, the gist of the discussion previous has certainly NOT been an attack on all vaccines. And then you conflate your misleading category "attacking all vaccines" with PizzaGate, Qanon, chemtrails, flat earth etc.

Let's take these one at a time: Pizzagate is shortform for the discovery of the presence of code words in the Podesta emails, words and phrases which have been identified as commonly being used by those preying on children for sexual purposes. MSM obscured the matter with much smoke and mirrors, and almost alone in MSM, Ben Swann asked intelligent questions about the matter and was promptly reprimanded. You can find his enlightening presentation on line, unless its been scrubbed. Incidentally, there is a pertinent tweeted comment from soon to be dead Andrew Breitbart in 2011: "How prog-guru John Podesta isn't household name as world class underage sex slave or cover-upperer defending unspeakable dregs escapes me."

More generally there is a very long history of predation on children and babies connected to systems of power. Jimmy Saville, the Franklin scandal, long serving House Speaker Dennis Hastert (second in line for the Presidency), Epstein's Lolita Island, are well known examples, but there have been revelations of far more pathology of this kind. For example, 28 year career, decorated FBI agent Ted Gunderson has revealed much on this subject.

Qanon is a rather mysterious and somewhat revealing messaging pertaining largely to the Trump presidency which has produced a very large body of cryptic political questions and comments, which in turn many thousands of people have considered worthy of study and discussion.

Chemtrails is a derogatory term for what is more formally referred to as geo-engineering and climate engineering. This has been going on since even the American war against Indochina: see Operation Popeye. In recent decades massive amounts of aluminum, strontium and barium, and it would seem coal fly ash, along with much else, have been emitted into the atmosphere. Michael Murphy's films "What in the world are they spraying" and "Why in the world are they spraying" are adequate introductions to the subject. Geoengineeringwatch.org will give you more information.

The agendas involved include much that is 'full spectrum domination' military-related.

I think we can agree that the earth is distinctly more round than flat.

Here's a brief extract from James Petras' latest on US coups:

The coming showdown in Venezuela will be a case of a bloody regime change as the US will have to murder hundreds of thousands to destroy the millions who have life- long and deep commitments to their social gains , their loyalty to the nation and their dignity.

In contrast the bourgeoisie, and their followers among political traitors, will seek revenge and resort to the vilest forms of violence in order to strip the poor of their social advances and their memories of freedom and dignity.

It is no wonder that the Venezuela masses are girding for a prolonged and decisive struggle: everything can be won or lost in this final confrontation with the Empire and its puppets.

For an anti-imperialist crowd, some of the comments here have a very strong authoritarian tone- dictating what is or isn't a valid perspective or a worthy topic of conversation, even threats of violence against those who disagree in a previous thread.

In Eisenhowers farewell speech almost 60 years ago he warned

“The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocation, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.
Yet in holding scientific discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

Vaccines and CAGW are 2 sides of the same coin. The science behind both is funded and influenced by government, technocrats and large foundations owned by the elite such as Rockefeller and Gates Foundations. The corporate owned MSM that so many here disdain are fully behind both and attack those who question the science as climate deniers and dangerous anti-vaxxers. Scientists who take positions against the science being preached by the elites find themselves attacked, denied tenure, denied funding and their papers are refused for publishing

An army of astroturfers are employed to combat those who question the elite backed science online. Working side by side those engaged against 911 truthers or other anti-empire/corporate positions no doubt.

Keep in mind government and the foundations and those corporations who could profit by it were the founders of the Eugenics movement in US and UK. Feeble minded were sterilized, immigration to lesser races denied while government regulators and science for hire was telling people child labor, lead, arsenic, DDT, asbestos and tobacco were not harmful .

Today of course nothing has changed but the names. The weapons (vaccines and CAGW just to name 2) harm health by introducing toxins into the young and old, while seeking to deny them cheap energy which will force them to choose between eating or keeping warm

Yet they tell you the science is settled. Scientists know science is never settled. A theory can only be disproved and never proven. However, those who can control the data and research can prevent false theories being disproven, and if it can be disproven , despite their efforts , then they can deny publishing of the science and MSM will keep a lid on it.

Conversation with a stranger in a bookstore in Poland (Warsaw) after learning that I once lived in the USA

stranger: “I’ve asked this question so many times I’ve become a pariah just about everywhere. “Name me the leader of a country,” the stranger asked me very politely, “who was actually beloved by his people?”

me: “jfk?”

stranger: “Most Americans survey in their minds their recent leaders. The faces of Obama, Bush and Clinton, that sordid trio of criminals, pass through their minds and they wretch.”

me: “bush and cheney, what a sinister cast of characters…”

stranger: “The winner in this category by a landslide is Adolf Hitler, followed closely by Muammar Gadhafi and then Saddam Hussein. The United States, acting on orders from their (((masters))), murdered each one these heroes.”

me: "you’re going over the edge here bro… i’m sure plenty of people hated those fools too..."

stranger: “All the bad things that the US government have enthusiastically said about their enemies — from from Ahmadinejad to Assad — have all been false. In reality, the Western powers have gone around the world killing all those leaders who were genuine champions of their people.

These heroes have been sabotaged, assassinated and replaced by soulless minions of the Deep State, who prefer their yachts and whores to acting justly.”

stranger: “Today, (((billionaires))), working in concert with the Israeli braintrust, are bankrolling not only their favorite U.S. presidential candidates but also funding the invasions of both Europe and America by Third World poor people, disrupting and destroying the fabric of the societies of dozens of primarily (soon to be formerly) white countries.

In the U.S. alone statistics show 25-30 percent of national welfare expenses go to unregulated aliens who have stolen their way into the U.S. from their shithole country of origin.”

stranger: “It appears now that the invasion and destruction of Libya ordered by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton was the key move for (((NGOs))) to plan the invasion of Europe with aggressive African men.

As has happened with past American presidents, there are no plans to indict Obama and Clinton for the premeditated murder of Gadhafi. That was just U.S. business as usual, and that my friend, is the nation you support.”

me: “i don’t support it... neither do you...”

“One of the Libyan leader’s famous promises was to keep the African hordes from storming across the Mediterranean and invading Europe.

Once Obama had murdered the beloved Libyan leader (by having him sodomized in the street), it was only for (((NGOs))) and (((oceangoing terror gangs))) to arrange the transportation of unskilled African and Arab males to begin the rape of Europe...

where many countries now are rotting from within under the strain of Third World gangs warring against the locals and raping their little girls. Hooray for Islam! And goodbye to Europe! Another battle won by Israel, the thief of nations.”

me: “maybe a backlash is coming.. or maybe it’s already started in france (the Gilets Jaunes) and Italy..”

And again...

Netanyahu to meet Putin for first formal talks since Syria downed Russian plane

PM says he’ll fly to Moscow on February 21 for meeting focused on stymieing Iran’s efforts in Syria

It's not that they're not interested (they're not) but that a 'D' Notice has been slapped on the MSM and state media, the BBC. A search of its site yielded one story on the IfS, an accusation that the Russians were behind the revelations and this appeared months ago, November 2018!

Viktor Yanukovich held a press conference in Moscow today. Here's a little tidbit I have translated for MoA readers:

Why hasn't Russia signed the agreement on the Ukraine joining EU (sic; he's actually talking about the de-escalation agreement between EU/Maidan and himself)… [Vladimir] Lukin was representing Russia then. He was sitting at the table during the talks, and, unfortunately, he was right. He told me: "Do you really believe these agreements will be implemented?" I said: "Yes, I want to believe that, at this level, they will surely be implemented." I didn't believe they would discredit themselves so much. But Lukin was right. I was deceived, betrayed, or, as some advanced Ukrainian politicians say, screwed over like a dupe. The responsibility lies with them. I want them to give me a public answer: why am I addressing them for many years, yet haven't received a single reply from the leaders of these countries? How could it happen that on 21 February 2014 we have signed the agreement, and on the same day, 21st, armed thugs have captured Presidential Administration, Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament), and the next day European countries have endorsed that? […] Those who reward lawlessness get punished. We have signed the agreement together, why won't you give me an answer? At least send me a reply: thanks for your letter! But they're not replying to me. It's no use writing to them.

Russ
I do like the site, it is very informative. Heavy stuff, but absolutely crucial. I wanted to ask if you might be able to point me toward some reliable information regarding carbon sinks. If I'd heard the term before, it didn't stick in my memory. I could gather the essence from what I read but it's something I'd like to read up on a bit more. I am somewhat familiar with the concept of constructed wetlands for water purification and I'm curious as to what your opinion of them is, if it's not too much trouble.
Thank you again, I really appreciate your site.

Mourning Dove 136

I've mostly learned about sinks from books, such as the USDA SARE's book on soil building, books on trees and forests, and James Lovelock's Gaia books. I'm not sure about a specific website, though a quick search brought up lots of what look like basic primers. One must be use care, though, since lots of sites are "mainstream" and therefore prone to be deceptive about the great capacity difference between natural sinks and industrial monoculture plantations. But it's the same difference as with biodiversity - a natural ecology is vast in capacity and diversity, a monoculture by definition is sterile and shallow.

A sink is a mode of carbon storage in a non-atmospheric form. The longest term and most capacious sink is the transfer of carbon from the air (via rain) and terrestrial rock to the ocean, where algae use it to form skeletons which then settle to the ocean floor and become limestone sediment. Over geological time some of this carbon eventually is released volcanically as CO2. Over billions of years the geophysiological process has acted to reduce the atmospheric carbon content to compensate for the gradually increasing radiance of the sun, in order to maintain comfortable temperatures for life. Much carbon also was sunk as dead plant material which eventually congealed as fossil fuels, which modern civilization is now irrevocably committed to returning to the atmosphere by burning every last BTU worth it can. Global heating therefore is likely to render much of the planet uninhabitable (and pretty much all of it unarable) for humans and other large mammals well before major sea-level rise and other such effects hit their stride.

The ocean has absorbed a great amount, though there's evidence that it's reaching saturation. And higher carbon concentrations are driving acidification which hinders the ability of oceanic algae, coral, and others to incorporate carbon into their exoskeletons. So one of the potential tremendous positive feedback loops is is global heating and higher CO2 concentrations cause the ocean to flip from being a sink to an emission source.

Vast amounts of methane are sunk in the northern permafrost and as frozen clathrates in shallow Arctic waters. As the Arctic heats up (it's heating at a much faster rate than the global average) the permafrost's melt rate, already rapid, will speed up, while the clathrates will begin to melt. This feedback loop brings a high chance of a huge non-linear methane surge at some point in the near future.

Then there's shorter term ecological sinks. The everyday carbon cycle has plants extract CO2 from the air and embody it in their tissues. Most of this returns to the air as the plant dies and decomposes, but a small amount is kept in the soil as organic carbon. The longest lasting forms in the soil are humus and charcoal. The longest lasting plant tissues are the wood of living and growing old-growth trees. Natural forests incarnate the most carbon of any ecology. The older and more evolved the forest, the more carbon it incarnates and the more it will incarnate going forward. Wetlands and grasslands also are capacious sinks.

Contrary to the lies of governments, corporations, and big "environmental" NGOs, monoculture tree plantations and other monocultures are very weak sinks with little capacity. To destroy a natural forest and replace it with a plantation equals a huge net emission of CO2, as well as the lost capacity of what that forest would have stored over the coming centuries.

A "constructed wetland" is similar. It's an anodyne thing to put in the place of a destroyed natural wetland where it will in a very meager, inadequate way try to serve as a substitute. Mostly it's for propaganda purposes, for governments, corporations, and NGOs who collaborate in destroying the Earth. It cannot substitute for a real wetland for any of the "services" wetlands give the Earth - sinking carbon, controlling water flow, being habitat for diverse wildlife (flora and fauna).

The 5lies keep bleating about their 'rule based system' 24x7.

These are the two rules that determine their 'foreign policies',..

1] The George Kennan's rule.
Brook no peer competitors.

2] The Nixon/Kissinger rule.
'Democracy is too important to leave up to the people to vote'

Corrollary
For either of the above offenders, put their economy thru the grinder and make them scream.

Trump's State of the Union Speech

Here's what stood out for me:

1) "Choose greatness"

- "Exceptionalism" is just the establishment's way of saying "Empire First".

- this rhetorical trick disguises the fact that the establishment has already chosen for you

2) Preparing Americans for war

- Citing Iran's intention to commit "genocide against the Jewish people", an exaggeration that is driven home by feting a Holocaust survivor

- Evoking WWII, complete with veterans as props

The only thing missing from this foul spectacle was a rousing sound track.

Trump:
"Everything that has come since — our triumph over communism, our giant leaps of science and discovery, our unrivaled progress toward equality and justice — all of it is possible thanks to the blood and tears and courage and vision of the Americans who came before."

So lay your willing sacrifice at the alter of the Empire exceptionalist fancy. It's for the children (no, not your children).

Latest from John Helmer. An important question which remains unanswered and can't remain so.

The Russian Communist Party and the Revival of the Tsar's Ideology - Orthodoxy, Autocracy, Nationality

http://johnhelmer.net/the-russian-communist-party-and-the-revival-of-the-tsars-ideology-orthodoxy-autocracy-nationality/

"The triad of Tsar Nicholas I is no longer as dead as tsardom. It has been revived by Patriarch Krill, leader of the Russian Orthodox Church; backed by the Kremlin, and is now unopposed by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and its leader Gennady Zyuganov..."

Russ@137

The oceans are nowhere near saturation. Not even close.

There are more forests than there were 100 years ago, thanks in part to better crop yields made possible in part due to higher CO2 levels, as well as forest management and fire suppression. Nature used to clear these forests with massive uncontrolled fires. Now we build houses and make books with them instead of letting them burn. Wood houses dont release CO2 unless they burn down

As for permafrost and methane hydrates a number of studies estimate their realease to be gradual under current warming trends. It was warmer during the holocene optimum 6000 years ago which was followed by thousands of years of global cooling until recently

Man accounts for 4% of global carbon emissions. Feedbacks, positive and negative are not fully understood. It may very well be that todays rising CO2 levels are at least in part due to outgassing from oceans whose millenial circulations are introducing warmer waters from a warmer time , or perhaps due to a century of what is believed to be increased solar activity

Since there has been little warming over the past 15 years aside from el nino years and we are in a period of what is expected to be sustained lower than normal solar activity I would take a wait and see approach and use the time to understand climate more than we do.
