So, Hedges knows Big Money will never ever allow someone like him to get somewhere near the power. Posted by: Cemi | Jan 30 2019 13:21 utc | 102 Thus is the evolution of wo/mankind that it is no longer feasible nor possible to support further development of a species that refuses to come to terms about its place in this Universe. There was this sliver of a chance to grow, to develop empathy, kindness and community based on equality. Posted by: notheonly1 | Jan 30 2019 13:45 utc | 103 anon – Posted by: donkeytale | Jan 30 2019 14:11 utc | 104 Boy, this Craig Summers guy sure knew how to put a burr under folks’ saddles here. Posted by: morongobill | Jan 30 2019 14:12 utc | 105 @102 yeah lying repeatedly and shamelessly will do that. your point? Posted by: pretzelattack | Jan 30 2019 14:27 utc | 106 The reason elections matter is not because of laws or policies. Elections are about control of the budgets. Those budgets affecting you most are the ones closest to you about roads and schools, development and community. Having worked very hard to get democratically endorsed candidates elected who support working families, I know how important it is to keep ideologues shut out of power. If you don’t vote then you say to your democracy that really you enjoy your right to bitch as the only right you fully possess. Budgets are moral documents. Every level of government has one. Approach the problem from this angle and you will get better results. I have. The RAND corporation and the ‘legendary’ but real-in-effect Report From Iron Mountain after the 2nd world war contributed to the ‘justification’ and the ‘realism’ of perpetual pathology/aggression by whatever means. As a fellow historian, I’d opine that before the question of taxes we need to change the wording of Corporate Charters from primarily serving investors to serving the public first and foremost, which would mean not trying to avoid taxes. The Empire doesn’t recognize any sphere of influence, natural or otherwise, by any other country. That has been explicitly states several times. Hoffman is a complete lunatic and moron. A Holocaust denier and anti-semite (and I don’t throw that label around loosely). Reading anything by or about this guy is a complete waste of time. I am NOT a Zionist or otherwise defender of the State of Israel, but this guy is so ignorant of history and of Judaism in general that it’s pathetic. If you’re looking for enlightenment or other forms of edification, look elsewhere. Posted by: BC | Jan 30 2019 20:43 utc | 146 Michael Hoffman is good. Any attempts to slander his name will fit right in with Amazon’s having banned his books. Posted by: Bart Hansen | Jan 30 2019 22:51 utc | 153 Anon – There was certainly a sympathetic sense in Celine’s providing medical services to the poor but to his everlasting credit in his writing he did not romanticise…he was as contemptuous of his downtrodden patients as with everyone else who felt the bayonet point of his pen.
Posted by: donkeytale | Jan 30 2019 23:19 utc | 154 Posted by: Grieved | Jan 30, 2019 4:15:20 PM | 147 Yep, every Christian is supposedly an expert on Judaism. But that’s to be expected given the attitude towards Jews by the authors of the NT and passed along by the Church. I have read some of Hoffman’s treatises on Judaism so my criticism is not based on hearsay or just going along with the opinions of others. BTW, I don’t condone banning books – that reeks of the type of Nazi fascism that sent 11 million people to their deaths in their concentration camps. Posted by: BC | Jan 30 2019 23:20 utc | 155 Nicolas Maduro has released a short video in which he addresses the people of the US directly. It’s on Facebook, but you can watch it through whatever news pages have embedded it, such as RT here: Posted by: Grieved | Jan 30 2019 23:27 utc | 156 Posted by: Grieved | Jan 30, 2019 4:15:20 PM | 147 Posted by: BC | Jan 30 2019 23:32 utc | 157 The elites have done a masterful job of controlling the decline in living standards over the last 40 years. Not rapid enough to force folks to the street but significant enough to accomplish their looting of the middle class. Posted by: Pft | Jan 30 2019 23:37 utc | 158 Vk@140 Posted by: Pft | Jan 30 2019 23:48 utc | 159 Dont think too much of Michael Hoffman. He blames the rise of todays usury on the Catholic Church. He claims Calvinists have been unjustly scapegoated . He ignores facts that don’t support his thesis of Protestants as foes of usury. I couldnt trust what he has to say on Judaism based on that alone Posted by: Pft | Jan 31 2019 0:08 utc | 160 @140 The Fed has to be careful not to crash the stockmarket. Powell got a lot of flak after the last rate increase. He thinks the US economy is strong. Most people expect the US/China trade war to be settled soon. Posted by: dh | Jan 31 2019 1:27 utc | 164 The Venezuelan soldiers are very clear about what the US is doing. Here they are (video) comparing what happened in Libya with Venezuela. Own the truth as it finally is revealed from the still lying tongue of a Chinese multinational. The Trump campaign lies of “only he” can relocate blue collar jobs to the US continues to unravel. Bigly.

Do you think that they will relinquish their control because we “vote” them out. Do you think we will be allowed to “vote” them out? Posted by: The cycnic | Jan 31 2019 22:00 utc | 175 In this otherwise important article: How Russia-gate Rationalized Censorship, Joe Lauria makes a terrible mistake when he writes:
IMO Russia-gate is a false narrative “psyop” that has been fostered on the American people by a media establishment that is in bed with the political establishment. The media bang on the Russia-gate drum at every opportunity. They’ve used every possible trick to convince the people that Russia is malevolent, and that Russian meddling and influence on Trump is real.
