Fundraiser - Please Support Moon of Alabama
(This post is pinned to the top. Scroll down for new content.)
Dear reader, your support is essential to keep this site going.
Moon of Alabama provides news and analysis which mainstream media cover late or not at all. This site is free. It serves original thought and no-nonsense analysis on a (nearly) daily basis. It has an open and lively comment section. It is the full-time effort of this single person.
The growing readership of the blog and your feed back keep me going. But I also need to eat and pay rent. I have no other income. Each donation to this Poor Poet, be it $5, $50 or $500, is welcome and urgently needed. A recurring contribution or sponsorship would be great.
Transaction costs are smallest when you send cash. You can also do a direct-to-bank transfer or write a check. Send email to MoonofA @ aol.com (remove the spaces) for the necessary details. (They are the same as before.) You can use a credit card or other means when you donate through the PayPal button below. (The receiving account is in Euro - 1 Euro is about US$ 1.15)
Thank you!
Bernhard aka b.

There are other options besides Paypal or credit card.

I hate paypal. Can you contact me for some other way to do this.
Posted by: Norbert | Nov 28 2018 13:29 utc | 5
#5 and others b does give other options read the last part.
$5.85 on the way.

Yeoman's work sir. Thanks much!
Just pitched in and PP said $1.00 = .85 euro.

@Norbert I hate paypal. Can you contact me for some other way to do this.
I understand your feeling towards paypal. I sent you an email with the contact data.
"Transaction costs are smallest when you send cash."
I have sendt cash to you twice. I have since learned that it is illegal to send cash in mail out of Norway. The money gets confiscated, and if they find out who sendt the money you risk a big fine, even if it is only a few hundred NOK.
I do not know if you have recieved the money.
I have a friend who sometimes travel to Berlin. Next time she goes to Berlin i will ask her to send my contribution in the mail from Berlin.

Another method might be to sell your work to different alternative media channels. Not sure how much money each pay though. Banners are another way but if I am not mistaken you do not like that method.
Posted by: Zanon | Nov 28 2018 15:45 utc | 11
Dear Bernhard, I don't understand you. I sent you an email on 22 Nov, i.e. 1 week ago !!!, asking you about banking details. The silence from your side is deafening. I'll wait a couple more days, and if there is no reply I will assume you are not interested, which I find hard to believe.
By the way, keep up your excellent analyses. To quote myself in the email message:
"I have a number of channels for news and analysis, but when I don't have much time to read any articles, I always read at least the MoA article."
Cheers.

hardly ever comment tbh because the quality of the blog and the top comments are superb I often can't think of anything else to add. €20 on its way to you B, thanks for all the research/work you do.
Posted by: Nick | Nov 28 2018 17:48 utc | 17
b, your journalism is far more important that what you are likely to raise.
Thanks.
Posted by: Jackrabbit | Nov 28 2018 17:59 utc | 18
Done. I am going broke, but I am willing to contribute something.
Posted by: Cycloben | Nov 28 2018 18:18 utc | 20
B produces very high quality journalism which is timely, cogent, concise, and truthful. Although I am a Scrooge on steroids I'd feel like a pos if I did't contribute. I I read and enjoy MoA daily.

Difficult to send via paypal, and the last time I had someone else doing some unauthorized "shopping" on my account. Had to block the card. I will tell you if it happens again.
(This time I gave € ***.01, (* are figures, as you will see ) Happy Christmas.
I really do appreciate your blog.
Posted by: stonebird | Nov 28 2018 21:37 utc | 24
Zut, that should have been € ***.10, not that it makes much difference tho, I would have preferred billions!
Posted by: stonebird | Nov 28 2018 21:44 utc | 25
Thanks for your work B. I often use your quotes and analyses to friend via email. Let people know about your work. I will do double December.

Your Donate link is refusing to let me donate. I cannot enter an amount. Arrgh!
Posted by: jrkrideau | Nov 28 2018 23:14 utc | 28
Donated. Can´t risk to loose you, too - after Propagandaschau is already gone now.
Posted by: Honkydonk | Nov 28 2018 23:21 utc | 29
b, for all the great work that you do this fundraiser is well past over due.
I will not use PayPal as my last donation was at a whopping 37% FX rate plus fees. Bank drafts, bank international money orders are a confiscation at 65% treated as a regular check sent for collection. My banker was shocked to learn you received only 35% of face value.
We will do another route with a pre-alert to your Inbox.

How do you suppose those PayPal billionaires became ... billionaires? Any donations I make are via that wretched service because I figure it's too dangerous to put my credit card information on the internet tubes. In the early days I can recall sending parts of my credit card number to small bookstores in the UK via divided emails. Don't think that would be the thing to do anymore.
Perhaps somebody could investigate setting up dedicated accounts in major nations, and accumulated funds would be transferred to Germany (?) by the cheapest way. Probably less trouble to let the greedy banksters take their large cut.

You should set up a patreon page..that way people can sign up and support you continually...
Also...can you accept BTC.
Posted by: Alister | Nov 29 2018 3:23 utc | 32
Fyi, Transferwise also works well between Europe and other places as an alternative to PP.
Herzlich, B for the deep and detailed coverage, and for inspiring quality comments (aside from those kept around "for our amusement")!
Posted by: slit | Nov 29 2018 5:36 utc | 33
You might want to consider setting up a Payoneer account, b.
Minimal transaction costs, & excellent international exchange rates offered.
Posted by: Pacifica Advocate | Nov 29 2018 6:35 utc | 34
BRL to € is a very expensive exchange, but I'm supporting with even a few monthly bucks since last year. When things improve here in Brazil (don't think it's happening any time soon with our new fascist government) I'll surely help with a few more :)
Posted by: Miranda | Nov 29 2018 11:15 utc | 35
Shekels on the way, b. Thanks for all the work, greatly appreciated.
By the way, I did credit card through Paypal, wants a password to open an account, gave it one, made the transaction, closed the account. Done. It's just ecommerce with its corporate desires.
But I'm happy to pay a platform's fee in order to get a round number to you, so maybe keep reviewing the alternatives out there, just in case some other options look good. Paypal has been around so long that everyone has a bad experience with them as well as the good. I suspect many people would gladly pay a fee to a different platform as an alternative. Voting with our credit cards ;)

In the mail this week b, and happy to help. Your site is a diamond in a desert on non-information!!
And, as always, massive therapy..

@36 grieved... paypal isn't as bad as many make it out to be.. i have a business account for use selling my own cds or tickets to gigs from time to time.. it is actually quite useful.. i only use it for that though and have been reluctant to use it for more general stuff like making a donation to b! i use the snail mail route, lol...
Posted by: james | Nov 29 2018 19:07 utc | 42

MbS is a turkey - thank fuck for that.
Shortly to return as one of craigsummers haemorrhoids.
Posted by: Old Sparky | Nov 30 2018 5:33 utc | 47
@lurker please add BTC option, or Patreon.
Sorry, bitcoin and other 'cryptocurrenices' are essentially fraud. I won't touch them. Patreon is a rip off for small donations. Much worse than Paypal.
For now I do not see other reasonable options as the ones noted above.
@all - I deleted comments from one "MbS is not a turkey" for personal insults.
Just sent my little Ppal bit but also want to express my warm gratitude for providing a life ring of truth in the turbulent waters of these times in which we are nearly drowning. Or something similarly poetic and sincere. Thank you! :D

Hi b, paypal payment made. Very happy to support you and hope that you receive enough support among all your readers. I love your clean website, reminds me of the early internet before it all got monetised. Your work is in a class of its own. All the best.

I second Cliff #52 . . . yours is an aesthetically "clean website." Just completed my titanic battle with wretched PayPal but happily took them on because your work is so important. Am daily grateful not only for your posts but also the superb commenters.

For who is interested, I have Hillary Clinton's caricature, Jeff Sessions' one, Soros', Rothschild's, Rockefeller's, Adelson's one and others at my site.
I can not give you the link, but you can search veritas semper vincit's caricatures.

I tried but to donate one must join Paypal which is owned by one of the more dishonourable individuals around hence I cannot though I would certainly like to. Odd that Paypal doesn't demand one join it before accepting payments for other sites.
Posted by: John Jackson | Dec 4 2018 20:50 utc | 62
Of course I will donate! You're the most honest media out there!
Posted by: Alexander Grimsmo | Dec 5 2018 4:43 utc | 63
Bernhard, maybe donors can try https://azimo.com/en/how-it-works or Transferwise, or something similar? People can then use a debit or credit card to pay into your bank account.
Or via an app from smartphone to smartphone.
There may be the possibility of a money gift card or bank card that people can send money to your card, you publish the 16 digit number, like Russell has done here www.russelltexasbentley.com (I do not recommend WU - charges too much?). You obviously don't need a Russian bank card, the principle for payment should be the same for other countries' bank cards.

I have sent my widow's mite. I cannot thank you enough for your daily gift of insight. By the way paypal works well for me. Please keep it open as an option.

@all
Not having to worry about how to pay next month's rent really helps me to stay concentrated on the more important issues we all discuss on this site. That is now again possible.
A big thank you to everyone who chipped in.

Dear B,
I have just put in my donation now. Thanks very much for running such a great blog. I have especially found the recent posts on the confrontation between the Russian coastguard and the Ukrainian flotilla highly informative. Your updates on Syria are also highly appreciated by this reader in Australia. Regards, Jen.
