The MoA Week In Review - Open Thread 2018-31

[Please excuse the lack of posts this week. I am with my larger family and the kids keep me busy.]

Last week's posts on Moon of Alabama:

The U.S. embassy in Jordan let the "rebels" in southwest Syria know that they are on their own: ".. you should not base your decision on the assumption or expectation of military intervention by us." Several towns in the area have already decalred their will to reconcile with the Syrian government. More will follow. The Russian air force started to support the Syrian operations around Daraa with heavy bombing. The U.S. or Israel are now unlikely to intervene with anything but the usual propaganda. Get ready for new "last hospital", "barrel bombs", "chemical attack" and other nonsense headlines. Eva Bartlett is on the ground and reports from Hader, A Village Under Siege by al-Qaeda and Israeli Forces Alike.

@301 Sorry, I thought you were saying Western bombing caused the refugee crisis in Syria. It was Syria and Russia who did the heavy bombing in Aleppo, Homs and East Ghouta but the refugee outflow started in 2011. The only bombing there the US did was against ISIS in Raqqa but they have dropped a few 'accidentally' on the SAA in other places.

A lot of people, mainly Kurds, have left Iraq and Mosul got heavily bombed when ISIS were there.

The other major refugee source is Afghanistan. The US certainly do a lot of bombing there against the Taliban.

Israel does a bit of bombing but they have their own agenda. Mainly they go for Hezbullah targets.

Thanks for that info Daniel. no wonder people can be misguided, truth is harder to find than fiction.
Dh hi. Yes it's complicated is'nt it!
To brainwash people you first confuse them, then keep repeating the lie you want them to beleve. Then you've got a programend public on mass, repeating parrat fashion blatant absurd lie's! Welcome to this world.
Where to begin! Isis stands for Israile secret service. Ifukus fund them, arm them and give them bombing cover.
It's all a big scam !the western public have been fed the terrorist story, as a cover, whilst our elite plunder resources and grab land! Said elite don't care about 'the refugee problem' ! Why should they ? It buys them the right wing vote! All very clever. But very very sick. So the lessen is don't blame the victim refugee convict your murdering greedy elite an lock um up! Ps to do that you I and the rest of us should unite, and not let them devide us.

Mark2 observes, "Said elite don't care about 'the refugee problem' ! Why should they ? It buys them the right wing vote! All very clever. But very very sick."

I'd add that the "liberals" don't care either (this "crisis" really kicked into gear after Obama destroyed Libya and mangled Syria). But they are using the crying kids to score points they hope will turn into votes, too.

The two teams do compete in the way that the Eagles and 49ers compete. There are bennies for winning any given championship. But, they split the gate either way, and exist only to serve their owners.

And yes, those owners are the ones we need to name and remove from power.

I agree whole heartedly with that point !
To add --- on left or right of politics were just treated as fools only needed to swing the vote and fight there wars The liberals sit in the middle feeling superior to the rest of us. You some times here them say--- those left's and right wing just as bad as each other ! It's a con . We fight each other, they stay in power who ever wins .we die in battles they hardly ever do.that trick undermines democracy and fuils there greedy wars. Solve that you solve a lot of problems including the refugee crises/Middle East wars curuption ect.

Mark2 says:

Where do you suggest the refugees go

ya know, Mark, just the other day my wife and i were on the beach in Tuscany soaking up some sun when one of these vagabond merchants selling pareos plopped himself down in front of us. we weren't buying, but we chatted for at least half an hour. he was from Afghanistan, a Pashtun, in Italy for over two years in some kind of limbo asylum status trying to eke out some kind of meager existence. a real nice guy, but behind his beautiful green eyes i detected weakness. his wife and three children are in Kabul. i told him to go home. i know, easy for me to say.

Ya know John in my eyes your the vagabond ,you got no heart or soul, your dead in side and sadly you don't even know it ! So let's see you were both in Tuscany but you told him!!! To go to go home, and yet your lot trashed his country! I think you may be beyond hope. And possibly trying to get a rise out of me?

307 Bad advice. He would not be able to take it anyway. Afghans are very likely sent by their families to find a living abroad. They rarely decide as individuals.

If he has made it to Italy he has survived the worst. He will have to continue to Germany or Scandinavia (where most likely relatives already are) to be able to contribute substantially to the family income.

Italy accepts asylum for Afghans, once accepted he has a chance to travel freely and settle in Europe. And reunite with his wife and children.

There are three generations of Afghans living in Europe, he won't feel lonely. Afghanistan will be a basket case as long as six countries carry on with a proxy war. Schould China decisively win its economic war Afghanistan might find peace.

As I understand Italy's so called "populist" discourse the discussion is for Europe to share their burden ie take the outsized share of refugees arriving via the Mediterranean, rather than the (illusionary) idea that it is possible to restrict their movement or send them "back".

You can solve a lot of things in Italy with money and human trafficking is big business. One way humans the return way weapons.

Germany is stuck between its pull as booming immigration country and the push of the Dublin agreement that was devised at a time when refugees came from ex-Yugoslavia on a route that did not lead via Italy.
Helmut Kohl sent Croat, Bosnian and Kosovan refugees back as soon as their part of the country was deemed 'safe'. Gerhard Schröder's government then proceeded to make Germany an immigration country. With the EU enlargement and the association agreement with the West Balkan countries people who were born in Germany as refugees now return to Germany as immigrant workers.

Public discourse on immigration is not based on fact. It is a hellishly ineffective bureacratic process for the people who have to go through this with many European loopholes. A very simple one - though expensive as you have to prove you got funds - are Schengen visas. You need a consulate or embassy of one of the Schengen states to issue this.

Europe will have to solve this united or return to internal borders - whose costs will be a lot higher than migration.

Well done with that, made a lot of sense and that equals sanity! Solve the problem not the symptom! My warm regards.

no dude, just a more considered opinion. my bad. you're a fucking moron, you've got about three things to say and you exhausted those long ago. i guess you're one of those who likes to chalk, 'no to terrorism' on the sidewalk. no, probably you're too chickenshit to do even that, prefering to just yammer away anonomously on the internet...fuck off!

Posted by: john | Jul 1 2018 13:27 utc | 310

John @312
The people you voted for put those terrorists on the streets, to fool you into voting for them, your not that smart are you. Don't shoot the messenger! I'm giving you the truth.your now suffering from'cognative disonance ' look it up. But that's cool, you'll get over it , come back re-read this thread take it in as reality and we'l of done you a favour.
The question is not why I repeat the somethings, but why you don't recognise the truth when you hear it? Read comment number 304.
I prefer to communicate verbly but self defence is not violence, as long as it's proportionate. So tell me haw many deaths are you lot responsible for?
