Last Call - Please Support This Unique Endeavor
This blog was founded in June 2004 as a substitute for the closed comment section of Billmon's Whiskey Bar blog. The Bar was since shut down and this blog developed its own standing.
Since its beginning the Moon of Alabama blog received 24,923,925 pageviews. 6,838 posts were published and 327,800 valuable comments contributed to it.
The quality of the content increased over time. The general subjects continue to be the wars and propaganda of the U.S. empire. The McCarthyrite PropOrNot, (promoted by the Washington Post) described this site as a "U.S. facing Russian propaganda outlet". They disliked the warning about false flag attacks in Syria.
Moon of A is not Russian propaganda. But it takes a wider perspective than other media. Here are some recent examples:
- Why North Korea Needs Nukes - And How To End That
- NYT, WaPo Send Top Reporters To Stenograph Five O'Clock Follies
- By The Grace Of Israel - The Barzani Clan And Kurdish "Independence"
- The Rohingya Of Myanmar - Pawns In An Anglo-Chinese Proxy War Fought By Saudi Jihadists
- UN On Khan Sheikhoun - Victims Hospitalized BEFORE Claimed Incident Happened
- The Saudi System And Why Its Change May Fail
Where else could you read such pieces?
For me, Bernhard, the writing, editing and managing of this blog has turned into a full time endeavor. That is why I need and ask for your support. Every donation to this Poor Poet, be it €5, $50 or £500, is welcome and needed.
Transaction costs are smallest when you send cash or a check. You can also use a bank-wire transfer. Send email to MoonofA @ aol.com for the necessary details. (They are the same as before.) You can use a credit card or other means when you donate through the PayPal button below.
Thanks!
Bernhard aka b.

I have DM70 in notes - can you convert them to Euros? If so, email me where I should send them.

B, I just sent 100 euros via the donate button. It comes with thanks and respect. I dont comment on your articles because there are plenty who do who posses more insight and gravitas than me! But I do drop by very regularly and always leave having learnt something. Long may it continue.
Best wishes, Andrew B.

Hi Bernhard,
I am new here, passed by a couple of times after reading some references to it over there in the net, but, honestly, found it somehow "hard to read", by its design, but just the other day a commenter called "neutrinox" at Fort Russ recommended me to come here for a good discussion quite different from the line "The Donald is innocent and the deep state has fooled him" so ubiquitous in the so called "alt-media", even that self-described as "pro-Russian".
Apologies for my bad English, I am Spanish, Basque, communist by heart, and so, I would like to know if censure is too hard here or a communist point of view is banned by norm...I am banned for life at The Vineyard of The Saker....
P.S: It is mandatory to drink whiskey here?

This afternoon, sent E 350 via ratty PayPal. Repeating what others have said--grateful for the time and intellectual energy which you put into this site. It's not just the quality of analysis and comments but also the crisp organization, e.g., ease of tracking, responding to commenters, the maps, etc.

Figure out how to accept Bitcoin, and I'd be very, very happy to donate. Some of us have had some very nice gains from it recently. There are online services that can have it converted to fiat currencies for you almost immediately upon receipt of the donation.
Although Bitcoin transactions are not 100% anonymous, it's difficult to track, and any fees don't go to banksters. It's possible that some may donate who otherwise would not for said reason(s).
I immensely value the work done here over the years.
It's time for me to donate - one way or another.
Thank You.
Cheers!

can you send bitcoin in a wallet via e mail? anyway - great to hear of folks continuing to support b.. he deserves it!
@ elsi - i think moa is very open to different ideas.. even if you don't agree, or someone doesn't agree with you - people still get along well as i see it..

I will be donating again in a week time. I will make it permanent from January on. Best website on political matters. Keep up the good work.
Good commenters as well.

Hi Bernhard, I was only able to send you a tiny donation, but if you could put up a permanent donation button in the sidebar, I might be able to skip in tiny donations again.
Thank you for all your work I do appreciate it even though I am commenting rarely anymore.

Donated a small amount, would give more if I could. Thanks for all your work, B

As above. And what a joy being able to leave a comment without having to sign in via one of the Mordor toads that squat over the net.

@elsi - had often read and appreciated your perspective at the Vineyard, didn't realise you were banned there. They (he) has an utterly arbitrary and unpredictable intolerance toward some commenters or themes, which is deeply frustrating, to the point of driving me away for months at a time. Hope you do insert your perspective here from time to time and sure you won't be hounded out.

I can’t thanks you enough for what you do here, day after day, week after week, year after year, Bernhard. You provide invaluable reporting for those of us who oppose war and empire, as well as those of us who despise hypocrisy, propaganda, and censorship of all kinds. My contribution isn't much but hopefully it’s enough to help keep your work here alive and bearing fruits that’ll live on forever.
Sincerely,
Cynthia

Done b, and think I'll try to make it a monthly. This site, and it's contributors, have provided a wealth of information that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
Thanks to you, and your many visitors to the bar, who, thru their many valuable links, have increased this old broken down Teamster's knowledge of the real world....ben

From my limited knowledge of alcoholic drinks, mostly from ads, most of them have mainly decorative role, so you must have whisky, but drinking is optional. It suffices that it looks cool.
If you do not care about the smell, you can refill a whisky bottle with properly diluted black tea and serve it in crystal glasses over ice cubes.

Oh, thanks a lot to you all, and especially to james, Petra, comrade Noirette and Piotr for the warm welcome.
As usual when I arrive at a blog with so many comments, I will read for a time, then, when I take a general idea, and in case I feel like to say something, I will comment.
So, I am reading you....

Done. Just discovered this site today, but this was an easy decision.
I'm a bit awed by the comment sections: didn't think this kind of non-stupidity and civility was actually possible on the web.

I found this website when the establishment coverage of the Syrian war didn't make sense and so began searching for alternative news sources. I was very impressed with the intelligent analysis here and the links and supporting information I was able to access to check the sources. By comparison the foreign news reported in our local newspapers, which was syndicated from sources such as Reuters, NYT, Bloomberg, AP etc, was simplistic and heavily slanted, as well as being completely unverified. Thank you for your incredible hard work Bernhard, which is in the best tradition of journalism. I am pleased to offer support.
