A friend said he heard that Trump was abolishing the dictum of the ‘separation of church and state.’ He went on to say to say that heresy laws were just around the corner. My take is that since Circe and other Trump-haters haven’t been off the wall on this that it is just another example of rumors posing as news … .

Radiation expert claims Syria is plagued with radioactive contamination
American geoscientist and international radiation expert Leuren Moret says the whole country of Syria is plagued with radioactive contamination because the United States not only used depleted uranium weaponry, but provided it to terrorists fighting against the Syrian government.
Dr. Moret made the remarks in interview with Press TV on Friday, days after the Pentagon admitted that it used depleted uranium (DU) ammunition in Syria, the controversial weaponry that causes serious health problems among the population.
The US military fired thousands of rounds containing mutagenic weapon depleted uranium during strikes against purported Daesh (ISIL) positions in Syria in late 2015, reports said on Tuesday.
Dr. Moret said the use of depleted uranium ammunition is “not limited just to attacking Daesh, or ISIL, positions in Syria in late 2015.
Actually, the US government, the Pentagon has used depleted uranium in Syria from the very beginning, and that would be after [President Vladimir] Putin announced Russia would be assisting the Syrian government in removing the terrorists from Syria.”

UAE arms show heightens militarism as Yemen war rages on
Australia and the UAE have agreed to consider a 10-year defense plan that could include more than one billion Australian dollars ($767 million) in sales to the UAE.
The announcement was made following a meeting on Sunday between Australia’s Defense Industry Minister Christopher Pyne and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who is also deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces.
“What the Crown Prince is talking about is a more mature long-term relationship built around security and procurement,” Pyne said in Abu Dhabi, adding, “They are looking for genuine partners, not just foreign military sales, and that suits Australia’s attitude extremely well.”
The UK-based IHS Jane’s had already reported that Saudi Arabia and several other Western-backed Arab countries in the Middle East were purchasing weapons suited for a more offensive military program in distant locations.
IHS Jane’s analyst, Reed Foster, said in the report that the Western-backed Middle Eastern states are purchasing military equipment that will allow them to build “the kind of capabilities required to conduct operations beyond their borders.”
Saudi Arabia had the fourth-biggest military budget in 2016, behind the United States, China, and India.

@25 Assuming there’s any truth in that article we learn that Australia and the UAE have ‘agreed to consider’ a billion A$ deal which sounds kind of vague but I’m sure the Aussie companies involved will be salivating at the prospect.
Presumably the arms will be used to kill Yemenis because I don’t see the Saudis and the Gulf States attacking Iran without a major commitment from the US which even Israel has trouble getting.

By the way… the predicted blast of cold in late Jan in the central US never materialized due to a huge warming across the Arctic which was due to an influx of a massive amount of water vapour… which had never happened before happened on this scale (Rutger’s university prof).
Only a few ways to get water vapor into the stratosphere 1) big volcano… 2) unbelievably big thunderstorm… 3) nuclear blast.
Seeing volcanoes and thunderstorms do not create radioactive iodine, … who set off a small nuclear device? and why?

There is a great deal of nonsense spread on this site about the alleged number of deaths caused by the Soviet Government. The number of executions they carried out over the history of the country – somewhere between 600,000 and 900,000 is bad enough, but there is an upsurge of posts on the web claiming that ‘jewish Bolsheviks’ executed 30 to 40 million Russian christians. The only reason for these absurd exagerations is to make the terrible soviet record of executions seem more than the even worse record of the German government. You can not hide 10s of millions of executions. They would have a lasting effect on the population of the country. In fact the Soviet population increased rapidly for all years of soviet rule other than those of the war. This did produce a huge demographic deficit, of the order of 40 million in the short term, growing to around 70 million by the fall of the USSR. I have in this graph projected back the population in 1945 from the censuses of the 1950s using the growth rate of the 1950s and 1930s, and projected forward the 1941 population. So yes there was a huge demographic loss, but it occured 1941 to 1945 and the government of Germany not the Government of the USSR was responsible for it.

If Israel attacks Lebanon again would Iran stay on the sidelines or would it spread to the Gulf? Much damage would be done and it could go nuclear. All I know is the outcome would be unpredictable.

Churkin was a pugnacious defender of Russian policy, notably its intensive bombing of the Syrian city of Aleppo last year to crush rebels opposed to President Bashar al-Assad.

I’m of the same opinion, diplomats dont just die in droves like that by accident. There are powerful factions within US (inc. CIA) who want to punish Russia and escalate the new Cold War.
Keep in mind, superpowers (US, Russia, China, etc) have such advanced bio/chemicals weapons divisions, they can easily cause any “natural” death without any trace. Whether its heart attack, cancer, stroke, etc.

The good thing about those RAND documents is that the Syrian government controlled zone appears to grow. The one in the first document made it look like the Sunnis controlled most of the country as if they’re making the case for the Sunni state as mentioned by the DIA report in 2012. Unfortunately RAND pushes the official agenda with the usual goals. It’s disgusting that our government pays for this and gives is such status/power.
