Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

First Thoughts On The “Not-Hillary” Election Results

So I just woke up and found that the world has changed. World War III was called off. Trump won, Clinton conceded. His victory speech is fair and integrating.

My "not Hillary" hunch for the election was right. That is, I believe, how Trump won. No so much by gaining genuine votes but by taking them from the crappiest candidate the Democrats could send into the race. This was not a "white vote". Trump did better with black (+5) and latino (+2) voters than Romney. Racism does not explain that. Clinton promised more wars. Those who would have to fight them on the ground rejected that position.

The people voted against corruption, against international warmongering, against attacks of the culture of their life and against Zionist and Arab potentate manipulation. In short – they voted against Hillary.

The media with their outright and widespread manipulation and one sided reporting against Trump and for Clinton lost too. People did not believe the partisan crap that fact-checked Trump on every minor issue but hardly reported on the huge, huge scandals and corruption Wikileaks revealed about the Clintons. Fact-checkers ain't a good weapon in a culture war. The people want authenticity – lying is not seen as bad – if it is fairy open and authentic. Clinton is not authentic even when she tells the truth. The polls, but the one of the LA Times, turned out to be systematic manipulation.

The leading politicians in Europe will crap their pants. Nearly all but Putin bet heavily on Clinton. The European media were also strongly pro Clinton, even more so than in the U.S. There was zero reporting about Trump's real political positions and support. Only tiny bits about Clinton's corruption were revealed on the back pages. They always believe what the NYT writes is the essence of U.S. thinking. It is far from it. No one but a few east-coast party goers and the NYT cares about some 16 year old girl, who thinks she is "transsexual" and wants to use a men's public toilet. The average people think that such craziness deserves zero attention if not a hefty kick in the ass. Pro-migration and other political correctness movements in Europe will have a difficult stand now. They can no longer work against the instincts of the people by pointing to the soothing, fake words of an Obama or Clinton.

The Democratic party failed. The outright corruption of the party heads, who pushed Sanders out to move Clinton in by manipulating the primaries, blocked the natural development that went on at the base. They even wanted Trump as a candidate because they though Clinton could easily beat him. They were totally detached from real life. I am sure that post-mortem analysis will show that many, many potential pro-democratic voters were just disgusted and stayed at home or voted for a third party. The establishment of the Republican party were no better. They failed their voters just as much by shunning Trump and working for Clinton. All the neo-cons that flocked to Clinton will now scramble to get back to Trump. They will have little chance.

But the election also created huge new dangers. People around Trump, including his vice-president, are not sane realist but fairly extreme ideologues. Trump himself isn't. He is, in my estimate, fairly pragmatic. The Republicans also won the Senate and House. There is a danger that extreme policies will be implemented with huge and terrible long-term consequences. But remember that Obama had the same chance in his first two years of his Presidency. He never used it. From a progressive view he blew it.

Winning back the House and Senate in two years is a must for anyone with some middle-of-the-road thinking.

I believe that this result is good for Syria and the non-Jihadi and non-Zonist Middle East. Al-Qaeda in Syria will have a sad. Their main supporters leave the stage. The result is likely good for Europe including for Russia. It is bad for economic equality and other important issues in the United States and elsewhere. But would Clinton have been really better on these?

I for one feel mightily eased (with a not-so-small dose of Schadenfreude).  The U.S. voters knocked over a chessboard that brought war and misery to many people. We do not know how the new game will look, but I think there is a fair chance now that it, in total, will be somewhat less devastating for the global good.

As a concept the possibility that government elites will maybe have to resurrect TRUST to even get anyone out to vote in the future is truly inspiring – UP Trump !!! Cards anyone?

I voted Libertarian because while Hillary’s WWIII inclination scared the crap out of me, I could imagine the Donald’s personality leading to an exchange of ICBMs. But I have to admit I feel quite some relief that we might now have some breathing space between us and and Armageddon. And quite frankly, the way an awful lot of soi disant liberals on social media are reacting to Trump’s victory reminds me of Nietzche’s poignant statement about how when you look into the abyss, you had better be careful that the abyss doesn’t look back into you.

Too true. Funny, though, I thought of that Nieztche quote today, as well…but more along the lines of “we came this close to electing one of the most vile warmongering candidates in history.” How did we get here? How did the left get so coopted as to shun it’s core tenets of working for labor and peace. All I read from the dems this time was vitriol against Trump and protection of illegals and the lgbtq community. Seriously, that’s it?!?
@ Lisa
I am sorry you feel threatened by Trump’s ascension. He did speak of letting the restrooms in Trump tower as gender – neutral, if that helps. I’m sorry that your sub-group/culture fought for for respect and was used accordingly by the 4th estate to further divide this nation. They didn’t care about you. You were part of the package deal of voters that they could count on. Don’t be upset at people who are sick of hearing about your issues and not the important stuff that is, as b points out, conveniently placed in the back pages of the NYT.

Is it wrong to want to let Hillary off, now. I feel so bad for the old bag now that she is just going to fade into unrelenting grandma time. Yikes…but then I think about Gaddafi. Grandma deserves some unpleasantry.

TRUMP RE BANKING
Did you know return of Glass-Steagle is in the Republican platform? http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-07-18/republican-platform-under-trump-backs-glass-steagall-s-return 5 minute vid. Also some delegates questioning whether they MUST vote for Trump.
However I don’t think any legislators are supporting Glass-steagle return.

http://fortune.com/2016/05/18/trump-dodd-frank-wall-street/
“Dodd-Frank has made it impossible for bankers to function,” the presumptive Republican nominee said. “It makes it very hard for bankers to loan money for people to create jobs, for people with businesses to create jobs. And that has to stop.”
Trump said on Tuesday that sweeping financial reforms put in place under President Barack Obama were harming the economy and he would dismantle nearly all of them.
Dodd-Frank, passed in the aftermath of the 2007-2009 financial crisis, forced U.S. banks to reduce their reliance on debt for funding and to craft “living wills,” or blueprints for winding them down in a crisis.
The law created a new agency, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to oversee consumer financial products such as mortgages and gave regulators new powers over large non-bank financial companies.
Trump declined to offer specifics on his plan, but said it would address whether institutions should separate commercial banking activities from investment banking. He said even under the new plan, the banking system would not be perfect.”

Looks like he replacing 2 or more sets of financial/banking regulation with the new CHOICE legislation to come:
http://www.thinkadvisor.com/2016/11/09/trump-gop-could-torpedo-dol-rule-dodd-frank
could spell the end of the Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule, as well as what amounts to repeal of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law via the Financial CHOICE Act. Ron Rhoades, an attorney who leads the financial planning program at Western Kentucky University, opined in a Wednesday morning blog post that he anticipates the DOL’s fiduciary rule, along with the rule’s best interest contract exemption (BICE), to be “halted” in early 2017. He also sees the Securities and Exchange Commission’s authority to adopt its own rule under Section 913 of the Dodd-Frank Act being “repealed.”
Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said in late September that his Financial CHOICE Act that seeks to replace Dodd-Frank and kill DOL’s fiduciary rule will likely move to the House floor for a vote after the election, and that Trump supports the legislation.
The Creating Hope and Opportunity for Investors, Consumers and Entrepreneurs Act (CHOICE) would block the Labor Department from implementing its new fiduciary rule by incorporating into the bill Rep. Ann Wagner’s Retail Investor Protection Act, H.R. 1090, which passed the House last year and requires the SEC to move first on a fiduciary rulemaking before DOL can implement its fiduciary rule. Wagner, R-Missouri, also handily retained her House seat in Tuesday’s voting.

Well, consider yourself lucky. I’ve seen plenty of Dems crying that Putin was rigging the system, that Trump was his puppet, and that all the email scandal was just Russian hackers faking Hillary’s emails.
Basically, new McCarthyism and anti-Russia bullshit from people who should know better – both that McCarthyism is bad, Dems having been targets of it, and who should also know that the USSR is no more and Putin is nowhere near the butcher Stalin was.
Of course, these voters were listening to the same corrupt “progressive” fools who were using for war in Syria the same bullshit lies and cooked “facts” the neo-cons they hated so much 14 years ago had been using against Saddam – and these fools should know better, they’re well aware that Assad is nowhere near as bad as Saddam was.
Mainstream media and Clinton / Dem party hacks have actually become what they blamed and loathed in 2004. One can only hope that only the voters and the lowest levels party officials will survive, and all the mid and upper levels will be purged or implode, now that they’ve fucked up so much.

In 2004 it looked to me to be a question of first replacing Bush with Kerry and then replacing Kerry, after Dean’s meltdown.
At that time I was still living with the animals, down in jungleland.
In 2016 it looks to me that, having replaced Clinton with Trump, the next order of business is replacing Trump with a candidate from, outside the menagerie, from among ourselves, after first doing the same in 2018, both CD by CD and with the vulnerable third of the Senate.
Our only hope : no more living with the animals, down in jungleland.

Simply b/c I acknowledge the slog of hard work of the two candidates, Trump and Pence, coupled with the genius of his campaign staff does not equate, at least to me, euphoria but rather a healthy dose of respect. Once upon a time, I managed a few elections. Giving kudos where they are due is all I’m giving a high five to. And yes, they all did a helluva job!

Moon of Alabama is a wonderfully sane place. I’m thrilled Hillary lost because she is a violent, neocon, interventionist hawk but the extent of the brainwashing of hillary supporters here in the states is incredible and that bodes badly for the planet. These people are horrified because trump insulted illegal immigrants from mexico (this is not nice) but they’re fine with Hillary directing mass murder and groups who supresss women, minorities, christians and moderates in Syria, Libya, Ukraine. WTF?
Trump is going to have a very difficult time ahead of him because the mass media will continue to attack him and brain wash the stupid (mostly “liberal) masses. They believe because they’re living comfortable lives and have not experienced the economic pains of neoliberalism until things get worse (and they will as you can outsource most white collar jobs these days even some physicians positions (radiologists)) these people will continue to be vehicles of neoliberals and neocons.
This sums up my experience, great article:

If Trump has one ally, it will be those mind level bureaucrats(FBI) and soldiers who would have been screwed over for doing a fraction of what Hillary has done. That can be very useful in grounding out the impulses of the political classes.

@ 203 NemesisCalling, ‘How did we get here? How did the left get so co-opted as to shun it’s core tenets of working for labor and peace.’
That happened a long time ago. Hillary was overtly pissing in the milk of labor and peace. So was/is Obama. So was Bill Clinton. The parties have been amalamated into the one War/Wall-street/Fossil-fuel party, with the arrival of Bill Clinton on the scene. It’s been downhill from there and, like a snowball, picking up speed and mass. Our trip downhill inside the snowball is not over now, not by any means. Hail! the defeat of Hillary! not the accession of the Donald. The stonewall looms at the bottom of the hill.
It’s not ‘right’ and ‘left’, it’s top and bottom. If we can agree on anything, we bottoms can agree on the need for ourselves to seize power, to unseat those on top of us. I think it can be done by organizing at the level of electoral precincts, re-inventing elections wherein we register ourselves, conduct our own elections, tally and preserve our own results. In my view, all that’s required is to do it.
I imagine that the need to do something will become generally apparent within the first month of the Donald’s reign, if not before. See if the Donald works for labor and peace. The Donald succeeded in creating a superficial sawbuck’s worth of difference between the ‘two’ parties. There’s still not a real dime’s worth of difference between ‘them’.
The dime’s worth of difference consists of whose bagmen collect the dough.

Have a look at this tirade of bile and venom by the editor of the New Yorker. Die Eliten sind wutend.
An American Tragedy

The election of Donald Trump to the Presidency is nothing less than a tragedy for the American republic, a tragedy for the Constitution, and a triumph for the forces, at home and abroad, of nativism, authoritarianism, misogyny, and racism. Trump’s shocking victory, his ascension to the Presidency, is a sickening event in the history of the United States and liberal democracy. On January 20, 2017, we will bid farewell to the first African-American President—a man of integrity, dignity, and generous spirit—and witness the inauguration of a con who did little to spurn endorsement by forces of xenophobia and white supremacy. It is impossible to react to this moment with anything less than revulsion and profound anxiety.

Hello! If Obama is a man of generous spirit, why is Chelsea Manning still is solitary confinement, as opposed to pardoned?

@jfl 213
With respect…what are you talking about?
My question was rhetorical and not meant for a patronizing history lesson. I meant…”How did it come to this?” More of a poetic question, really. We should elevate that question to the front of our thinking. There are others to be asked, too. Donald Trump has raised this spectre (whether consciously or not).
That brings me to a question for you: you are only going to give Donald Trump two months? He will have just changed the color scheme in the office to gaudy-casino-chic. Are you serious? And, btw, we all know that market fundamentals show a gathering shitstorm. All you wannabe Cassandras out there pissing all over the victory day celebration like armchair cnn-paid prognosticators need to check yourself.
Obama got eight years (W. before him, and Clinton before him) but “we have to get Donald out before he does irreparable damage!” Surely there is some cognitive dissonance, here.
TWO MONTHS?!
In the meantime, I believe you owe the Donald some appreciation, mister. Swallow your pride, eat some crow, and kiss the ring.

All the neo-cons that flocked to Clinton will now scramble to get back to Trump. They will have little chance.
Trump has his own Zio-neocon friends: Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Pence, Chris Christie, Bob Corker, Jeff Sessions and some will be in his administration. He’s even praised that Neocon loon, Jon Bolton, repeatedly. Who Trump surrounds himself with in the next few weeks will be telling. When he appoints his Secys of Defense and State; you will see who Trump really is.
http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2016-11-09/newt-gingrich-rudy-giuliani-reince-priebus-top-potential-trump-cabinet-list
Senator Tom Cotton stated today on CNN he will support Trump bringing back torture and moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
As a matter of fact last March 2016, Trump promised Wolf Blitzer he would move the Embassy and today the Mayor of Jerusalem wasted no time asking him to hurry up delivering on this promise as did Netanyahu. And Trump is going to tear up the Iran deal and move the country into a bellicose position on Iran. And don’t think he’s going to be friendly with Putin with the advisors he’s surrounding himself with.
The people want authenticity – lying is not seen as bad – if it is fairy open and authentic.
What? Lying is always bad! There is no such thing as a fairly open and authentic lie! Please don’t spin what authenticity means to make Trump palatable.
Hillary was not authentic and neither was Trump. Trump is not transparent; and he will implement Zionist Neocon policy and you will soon see the real Trump.
The only reason that Trump needed to win over Hillary is because a Trump Presidency will get people off their complacent ass to take their democracy back.
Trump’s victory is exactly what people needed to take action as a mass and fight for real authentic change. His campaign song: You can’t always get what you want; you get what you need is an omen of things to come: suppression. And in an ironic way it also means that people needed this Trump Presidency to harness their intelligence, passion and outrage to protest and fight for their rights and the rights of the victims of U.S. foreign policy.
America has been on the wrong track for years and this Presidency will make people finally mobilize in protest. It’s already happening tonight. People are already in the streets. And after Bernie was betrayed by the DNC; the only thing I hope for was this outcome because I don’t see things getting better unless they get really bad first. Trump is rock bottom.
Trump’s not going to drain the swamp; that was bullshit; he’s part of that swamp already. It’s up to Americans to drain the swamp because this Trump Presidency is going to make them so mad as hell and they’re not going to take it anymore.
The only good things about Trump’s victory is that it’s already making people rise up to fight back what Zionist Neocons and their think tanks have been doing to the country plunging it in perpetual war.
The revolution is what America needed not Hillary nor Trump, but Trump is the accelerator Americans need now; hence they didn’t get what they wanted, but they got what they needed at this time to make real change happen, because no politician will make it happen and especially not Trump as the system is totally corrupt and the only way out is to tear it down and start over. Trump was only feeding the fantasy of change using Bernie’s authentic call to mobilize to access absolute power. Trump exploited people’s dissatisfaction to get what he wanted; but people who supported him won’t; they’ll get what they need according to Trump: suppression and discrimination towards certain groups.
Trump is not going to drain the swamp while surrounding himself with those Neocon insiders; he’s being baptized for power in that very swamp.

Circe
I hear “you can’t always get what you want,” and it makes me think that in the ethical sphere there is a life of sacrifice and putting the other before your own petty desires. The quicker you realize that, the quicker you can grow in your duty towards the other, because there is a hidden reward in this. Taking the “good” medicine, so to speak. Just my take.
Those “neocons” you mentioned didn’t abandon him, like all the rest. Maybe neocons aren’t a homogeneous group? Kowtowing to Israel isn’t a pretty sight, no doubt, but you can’t win the presidency, let alone the republican nomination by calling it out. Politics101, I guess.

Posted by: NemesisCalling | Nov 10 2016 3:03 utc | 223

@Circe #218:
Trump has his own Zio-neocon friends
Why don’t we wait until the Trump people actually make some official announcements about who his appointments will be? We don’t know how to read what Trump does yet, because he’s not a professional politician or a Washington insider.
I’m not saying that Trump won’t bring in the same old people that Bush had. But there’s no point in speculating until we see what he actually does.

@218 ….” Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Pence, Chris Christie, Bob Corker, Jeff Sessions”… how many of them are neocons?
Not Gingrich, not Giuliani, not Christie.
They may be venal – probably are, and hitched their star to Trump because that’s the only long-shot that was available to them – but while being venal may be characteristic of a neocon it ain’t diagnostic.
….”He’s even praised that Neocon loon, Jon Bolton, repeatedly.”….
Sure, he did. But everyone knows that Bolton is a second-tier player, if that.
A very limited man, and even if Trump considers Bolton to be the ants-pants he is only ever going to give the man a middle-ranking position. Maybe “court jester”, but little more than that.
The original post had it right: the neocons chose to jump onto the wrong boat and Trump is not going to forgive or forget.
They have about as much chance of influencing Trump as Hillary does of being re-appointed SecState.

Many here (& elsewhere) are touting him as a savior, even comparing him to FDR.
Color me skeptical.
Regardless, this line from you link I do agree with:

He is neither as dangerous as his opponents fear, nor as able to “make American great again” as his supporters hope. He is the Lesser Evil. What will become of him in Washington is anybody’s guess.

Yes, a complete unknown. He could be the “greater evil”, and possibly an uncoventional but enlightened leader… or anything in between.
Some of the names brandied about for cabinet positions (Gingrich, big oil execs for Interior positions) not very encouraging.

But you’re right. No sense in arguing this. Let’s just wait and see.

I think the stories of Palestine’s imminent demise might be premature. If Trump does tear the mask off their ‘opposition’ to the Occupation, this will only serve to set the battle lines. This will remove the most powerful aspect of Hasbara, the false narrative that Israel doesn’t want to take Pal land, only hold it as a bargaining chip. Rip off this Band-Aid and get at it!!! Several things struck me:
Especially during the last few weeks, Trump worked his ass off. Up to 3 rallies a day – this kind of direct contact with voters, bypassing the media, seems both old fashioned and shrewd. For a 70 year old, it was pretty amazing.
His campaign was very cheap – those who are always droning on about ‘getting the money out of politics’ should cheer.
The war against him by the media may have skewed the poll results. It made people more reluctant to admit they were going to vote for him, even when that was what they intended.
I don’t see Hillary and Bill (or the foundation) pulling in near as much money – I think a lot of the large donations before were predicated on her winning the presidency.
A lot of the arguments against him were subject to alternative interpretations. Examples: being a business failure because he had declared bankruptcy. What I got out of it was that he bounced back bigger than before – how rare is that? Or his multiple (and sometimes weird) businesses – the steaks, the university, the water, etc… Is it the sign of someone with no focus, or someone who likes to try things?
One of the most satisfying aspects of the victory was the wailing and rending of garments in all the right quarters.

have to agree with the scattered dissent on your zionism view. it’s nice to dream about a an even marginally anti-israel president but, as a few people mentioned, his daughter is married to a ziotard and he has CIA spook (from the clinton years, by the way) james woolsey as his top advisor. he also said at one point he’d move the US embassy to jerusalem and basically declare it the israeli capital. said settlements aren’t illegal, met with the yahu, etc.
when it comes to israel (and probably south/central america) i didn’t expect the lesser of two evils: they were both almost equally vile. the ONLY reason i thought he might be a less catastrophic choice was, as you also correctly mentioned, he has said he wants better relations with russia. even that i never assumed to be true since he also bitches about iran constantly and may just decide “leave syria alone and cut right to bombing tehran”. that would be an even more direct threat to russia’s future than syria.
wait and see i guess. just glad that the clintons may have finally been tossed in the dustbin of history. until chelsea 2024 at least.

I can tell you now, if Trump stuffs it – quite likely – the next President will be one Tulsi Gabbard (D) in 2021.
If he turns into a Ronald Reaganesque figure – being tough but fair essentially, he might get the two terms and it’s anyone’s guess who might be pushing up in 2024 – but, it might still be the likes of Tulsi Gabbard (D).
Tulsi is the heir to Bernie’s people -the young people – and they will flock to her. In time.
The only question is whether she burns her bridges with an unsuccessful campaign in 2020 against a (potentially) strong President Trump.
Of course, if the economy turns South, the Democrats will be odds on to make Trumper a one-termer.

I cannot possibly see how Trump will make any difference what-so-ever.
The possible exception being an increase in racism and xenophobia.

I think that China’s first thoughts on the not Hillary election result is to accelerate their dumping of US Treasuries as noted in this ZH posting.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-11-09/china-celebrates-trump-presidency-suddenly-dumping-treasuries
The ZH title is a bit misleading as China has been lowering its holding of US Treasuries for over a year. If they really do accelerate the Treasury dump it may cause a market disturbance/crash. It could even spread to other countries and then there really would be a crash.
Given that Trump called China a currency manipulator during the (s)election process it is not surprising to see China want to minimize its treasury holdings prior to Trump taking office. If we really do undergo a geopolitical realignment of countries then dumping treasuries makes sense for those countries aligning themselves with China as they can now exchange them for the Yuan.
Time will tell.

Reading these remarks reveals a striking phenomenon, the commentators having sacrificed their emotions and beliefs are now reading the entrails and divining the future in its entirety, fabricated from the whole cloth of deceptions they have been subjected. Paraphrasing a fictional production that happened before many here were aware, Kung Fu, a key adage was ‘Patience, Grasshoppers‘. What lays above only reinforces a thought – What a silly species, how ridiculous are those naked apes. Once the foretelling becomes firmly established, the future has nowhere to happen – but it will nonetheless, with or without permission.

I live in a semi-rural, 97% white, normally democratic county in flyover country. The county went heavily for Obama in 2008 and again in 2012. Sanders beat Clinton in the county caucuses this past year. This year, Trump carried my county easily–the first time in decades a republican has done so. They also re-elected female democrats to the state senate and the state house.
Hard to discern how my county gets flipped off as racist and sexist, but labeling them that way certainly makes it easier to ignore their economic concerns. And my Trump voting neighbors don’t think Trump will do much either for them, but they enjoyed the opportunity to stick it to the Washington/NYC elites.

the aphorism about the 4th world war being fought with sticks and stones could serve as a kind of prologue…
i mean, should we avoid that kind of conflagration, we’re headed for that eventuality anyway, what with terminal waste, environmental degradation, and resource depletion. it’s already common knowledge that our children won’t fare as well as we did…ask yourself why…and project the 12%(?) grade down into the unfolding future…
of course those with more will fare better longer, but in ultimate terms, i’d say we’re all in the same kettle.

Utterly cute: a reported photo of a sign saying: Trump is NOT our president. Say goodby to majority rule, the mob rules instead. Just like the remain tribe in Brexit, again unwilling to accept the results of an election – a bunch of traitors to the democratic form of voter entitlement. Seen also on the news an incident where gunfire had wounded a number of people in Seattle. If true, the Republic in its eviscerated form will be gone within a decade, maybe replaced by a virtual facsimile, maybe not, depending on the requirements of deception. Those wanting to change the system from within do not have very much time remaining.

Posted by: Formerly T-Bear | Nov 10 2016 9:47 utc | 244

@237 sleepy
I think that’s it sleepy. ‘Defiant’ screams from those engulfed by the snowball as it rolls down the hill. The voters are on to the fix and have sent that message back to the operators. Not at all unlike the Brexit vote. And their response is being characterized in just the same way that the Brexit vote was.
It will be interesting to see if this is repeated throughout Europe when their times come, or if the ‘monkey wrench’ in the works actually breaks the machine, exceeds the ingenuity of the operators to get it back on what they view as the track.
The real effect seems to take place on the ‘elite’ level. A new ‘operator’ muscles in, having mustered the peoples’ revulsion with the status quo to do so.
In these closed arenas, with no real choices allowed, the only real change is the identity of the bagmen.
I think our only hope for change is to ignore the broken, dysfunctional, ‘official’ apparatus and to build a new one of our own.
It’s ourselves, our 80-85% with our bare hands and determination vs the TNCs, their 15-20%, their executive, congress, courts, cops, and msm.
Results like Tuesdays are going to make the oligarchs – always fanatic for ‘stability’ – try to foreclose our ability to effect change directly, if we don’t do just that … and soon.

@240 FTB, ‘Trump is NOT our president. Say goodby to majority rule, the mob rules instead.’
Hillary seems to have won the popular vote … maybe they could take it to the Supremes … Oh, wait, in addition to their having to tear several clauses – A1.S2.{2,3,4} – out of the constitution they’d have to discover therein a right to vote – which they just could not find 16 years ago when they began this whole operation. I wonder how that got left out, eh?
Isn’t it ‘amusing’ that fascism is on its way in from what’s advertized as the ‘left’?

Posted by: jfl | Nov 10 2016 10:08 utc | 248

@sleepy 237
It was an enormous ‘Fuck you’ vote indeed. The DNC illusions built for the populace were too much… Obamacare, foreign intervention, Bill’s rotten sausage in the East Wing were all too much to stomach up against a TV personality who jumped into the underdog role at ease, while also professing we gonna win. The Don’s game was too big. Ugly, but too big. That’s entertainment.
This is not to champion anyone…yet. Just a really awesome phenomenon to watch the MSM get pummelled.
What should have struck Camp Don though, was the quality of unpaid support it was receiving – a contrast to the Team Clinton/DNC who a fully co-opted machine: the M$M. WikiLeaks provided The Don with unrivalled technical support, simply due to Assange’s Hate-On for Obama/Hillary’s DOJ and Grand Jury – this was pure journalism going to work. Day after day, fact after fact. WikiLeaks put on a fucking smorgasbord of scandal.
This type of free support should serve as a reminder: Play it as clean as you can Don, or we dig.
Then you have guys like respected political/economic commentator Micahel Hudson lending support, articulating sound reason as to why Hillary was the poorer choice, whilst never mentioning Trump was awesome. Guys like Hudson are respected far and wide, no matter party affilation. Having The Dems paid attack dogs across the entire MSM spectrum (except some of Fox) by comparison never spoke to any of the issues Trump raised – the paid attacks dogs just maintained “Trump grab muffin bad look hair orange yuck”.
Having Nigel Farage give his time and whip the crowd into a frenzy BY WHAT HE IS ACTUALLY SAYING is forever better than hiring Beyoncé for 45mins a couple of nights before game day.
Trump may not turn out to be better. Sure. But the cries of a new fascism approaching fell on deaf ears mostly. Half the population on food stamps, indefinite detention without charge (NDAA) and covert wars fought alongside Al Queada tells us The Fascist Left was already here.
And hey…if you look with your sane mind, Trump will almost turn out to be safer. The MSM is still going to mostly against him, The Don is such a narcissist that he will be exponentially less likely to make an unpopular move re: foreign intervention.
Clinton’s co-opted media machine however…well, who needs popular support when all parts of the mainstream beat the drums of war.

How completely jejune your statement. There is a constituted system, based upon the vote in established states, giving weight to both the state (Senate representation) and population (the representation in the House), not some stupidity you might believe in. That system had worked for more than two and a quarter centuries, not always perfectly, but worked up until the 2000 election which was subverted by judicial coup d’état. No one lifted a finger about that subversion by SCOTUS, no traitor was taken to the wall as should have happened immediately after the attempt. Only silence ensued. The constitution was effectively annulled and you are now basing some specious argument on that document? You apparently missed your class in logic.
Should any reader at this site be curious about president to what the U.S. faces, you need to read Paul Preston’s The Spanish Civil War: Reaction, Revolution & Revenge ISBN 978-0-00-723207-9 which vividly gives the blueprint of future events in overthrowing constituted authority. These things have been done successfully before, the result then was nearly half a century of terror and dictatorship, not necessarily experienced by all interests in that nation. Listen to jfl if you will but you’re getting the opinions of a delusional adolescent very much attached to his tribe.

@231 “I can tell you now, if Trump stuffs it – quite likely – the next President will be one Tulsi Gabbard (D) in 2021.”
Time to reflect on just how good Gabbard’s political instincts were in this election.
She was an early and notable endorser of Sanders, and **all** the reasons she gave for Backing Bernie(tm) rather than bending the knee to the Clinton machine have proven to be 100% correct.
That’s one tick against her name: she very clearly understood the mood of the electorate way, way, way, better than the machine drones like Podesta and all the other whores to Wall Street.
But even better was the way in which she played her hand after Sanders was shafted: she toed the line, which meant that she could not be blamed for any failures further down the track.
I know that isn’t a popular sentiment here, where so many urged Sanders, Gabbard and Warren etc.to play the insurgent role.
But that’s just stupid, because if they had then everyone – and I mean everyone – would now be screaming that They Cost Hillary This Election!!!! She Would Have Won It But For Those Bastards!!!!
Well, no, she couldn’t, precisely because she didn’t
She lost it on the back of her own incompetence, and she has no-one else to blame.
Not Sanders. Not Warren. Not Gabbard.
They really should strike now and go all-out to take control of the Democratic Party.
After all, they were the only ones to show *any* political savvy on that side of politics, and all the people they would sweep out are demonstrably incompetent.

EU leaders seem very worried about Trump given his position vis-a-vis Russia… Who’s gonna do all their fighting for them against those pesky Ruskies???
EU leaders claim their legitimacy from the WH and since Trump is the no-nonsense/straight talking type, they don’t know how to handle the change.
Trump’s comment about NATO members having to pull their own weight is now making those loud mouth NATO countries, who’re always happy to provoke/antagonize Russia at every opportunity, but pay very little contribution, are crapping their pants now. The days of freeloading on America’s generosity because of “shared values”(aka BS) is soon coming to an end. Maybe EU countries will learn to respect Russia and get along???
On the other hand, I doubt Trump will be allowed to deviate too much from the current US global trajectory.. There’re way too many vested interest there. Think of it as a mobster boss who suddenly became a born-again Christian and decided to shun his mob ways. The outrage that will cause in the gang!!!

Not a legitmate result, the system is in fact rigged, through gerrymandering and voter suppression. To say nothing of the intervention of the siloviki.
Because you know, Mrs. Clinton actually got more votes then Our Fearless Orange Leader.
Mrs. Clinton and pundits are making noises suggesting cooperation and unity. Extremely bad idea. This is why the Democrats keep loosing, they fail to play hard ball and extract a price. Al Gore shouldn’t have folded in 2000. Pearl-clutching commentators on left felt oh-so-very-good, they didn’t “sink to his level” to defeat him.
Jesus wept! Yeah, we may have just ruined the country and condemned our constituents to penury and worse. But hey, we didn’t get our hands dirty!

@247 FTB
As always a confusing post, but I think you said you valued and approved the Electoral College?…

There is a constituted system, based upon the vote in established states, giving weight to both the state (Senate representation) and population (the representation in the House), not some stupidity you might believe in. That system had worked for more than two and a quarter centuries, not always perfectly but …

… which, while not based upon the popular vote in established states, but based instead on the vote of ‘electors’ equal in number to each state’s congressional contingent …

worked up until the 2000 election which was subverted by judicial coup d’état.

I agree the 2000 election was subverted by judicial coup d’etat. Since the federal constitution leaves the mechanics of federal voting up to the states the SCOTUS had no standing to interfere with the Florida Supreme Court rulings. Had the votes been recounted as the SCOFL prescribed Florida’s electoral votes may well have gone to the jackass and the jackass been elected POTUS rather than the elephant.
I think that if Hillary actually did win the popular vote in the election on Tuesday, that she should be president of the US.
But that is not the law under which the election was held, so – just as the US stole the Panama Canal fair and square – Donald Trump seems to have stolen the 2016 election fair and square. Just as did Rutherford B. Hayes, Benjamin Harrison, and George W Bush before him. And I’m glad it worked out that way. ‘Lord make us pure but not yet!’
I think that the solution is to fix the constitution, which you seem to feel is not broken, enshrining popular election of the president and vice president.
Opening your rant with an insult to your opponent is the sure sign of a weak argument to follow. But I guess you’re following the lead of your man Donald? And why not? He won the election … according to the electoral college.

Posted by: jfl | Nov 10 2016 13:19 utc | 260

@250, john, ‘there is no way out. there is only adaptation. good government could ameliorate much agony, but good government seems to be an oxymoron and is probably moot.’
Well, I guess you mean there is no way out of adjusting our consumption, essentially, to what the earth can bear? I agree again.
But I was talking about a way out of bad government. Although it’s been an oxymoron, I don’t think there is any necessity that it forever remain so. And I think that life on earth will be immeasurably diminished if it is to remain so. So I think we ought to change how we govern ourselves … perhaps I should say we ought to govern ourselves, rather than continue to submit to bad government by an ‘elite’.

US political establishment rallies behind Trump

Remarkably, 60 percent of voters had an unfavorable opinion of Trump, including 20 percent of those who voted for him, while 23 percent of Trump voters described him as unqualified and 29 percent said he was not honest and trustworthy. Clinton was seen as both more qualified and more dishonest, and viewed unfavorably by 54 percent of voters.
These figures demonstrate the dead end of the corporate-controlled two-party system, which gave voters the “choice” of the two most unpopular figures ever to run as candidates of the two major parties.
Trump will come to Washington in partnership with a Congress that is near-universally reviled, with only 9 percent of those voting having a favorable opinion of the institution. Nonetheless, within the confines of the two-party system, nearly every incumbent senator and representative won reelection on November 8.

This is the sort of recurrent observation that the makes me sure we ought to change the way we vote :
– 20 percent of those who voted for Trump had an unfavorable opinion of him,
– 23 percent of Trump voters described him as unqualified and
– 29 percent said he was not honest and trustworthy.
The lessor of two evils wins again … and we all breathe a sigh of relief. Surely we can do better than this.

Could the Trump Victory have been rigged?
NO!
Consistently throughout the presidential campaign, only Two pollsters got it right.
IDB/TIPP – TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence 4 presidential elections in a row. They had Trump 2%

Trump did the homework; over one year before throwing his hat in for the presidency he commissioned a feasibility study. His people monitored talk radio to determine the issues and take notes. People are anti-establishment, giving the F U finger. Search his Oprah interview circa 1995?.
Those who label Trump sexist. Look at his executive and senior managers within the Trump organization. His campaign manager, when the guys failed late in the game, KellyAnn Conway took him over the finish line.
Trump will make mistakes; he is not a politician. And yes, he is surrounded by some neocons, aka John Bolton.
For me I am calmed, for now, as the neocons under Obama were unable to provoke Russia.
I endorse this editorial:
The Putin Dance of Joy
http://www.jsmineset.com/2016/11/09/watch-putin-dancing-video/
”My dear extended family,
Putin is dancing the Russian dance of Joy. He has experienced many invitations to a proxy war over the last six months in Europe, which he has refused to pick up.
Now there are two men of mutual respect who could in fact bond together in order to oppose the darkness that has been hovering over the world for years.
Can you imagine the power of the United States and Russia combined to stop the madness in the Middle East?
Now there is the possibility that deals can be made that are win-win instead of mutual destruction. Forget the past and the bad actors it benefited. Do not seek revenge, not matter how inviting.
Let the rule of law and the Constitution be reinstated. We have a chance now that the world has previously never had. Don’t blow this candle of opportunity out. Rather, wish good fortune to the two most powerful men in the world to put the pieces back together again.

I can’t understand you,Formerly T-Bear, and I would like to. What is your position exactly? I agree with your analysis of the 2000 avoidance of Constitutional responsibility, and when that was happening I advocated something similar to what jfl has mentioned, taking over the vote apparatus to ensure its integrity. My thought at that time had been to set up a parallel system to the duopoly one – and parts of that were happening this election cycle, with various online debates for the lesser parties, though not at all mainstream.
I understand you hate to think of more than two options on the ballot. Perhaps that is your ‘devil’s advocate’ position and you are hoping for your logic to be refuted by the true Aristotelians among us. I tend to think that it is when you resort to ad hominem attacks, as that is very troll-like behavior and I didn’t think you were a troll, though I could be mistaken in that as I am in many things.
jfl, as many who voted Green, seems flexible with regard to Trump. Again, I have no idea what your position is. I fervently hope he, Trump, will listen to or even appoint to various positions under his presidential umbrella, some of the third party candidates who have similar views to his on the advisability of going contra to the present and recent regimes which have brought so much hardship, pain and calamity upon the world – and also I think Jimmy Carter would be extremely helpful as another experienced and well respected in the world former leader who had to make his way against all odds as president.
Give the man a chance. He hasn’t done anything as president yet. I’ll be among the first to criticize when and if he takes the country down the wrong road – I hope we all will. All the negative clamor to me represents those who were part of a very corrupt establishment, or who benefited from it, not wishing to descend from the heights. Okay if you feel that way – the rest of us say come on in, the water’s fine.

Your analysis ignores the hybrid nature of Obama-Clinton, a fascist economic system of the elite overlain on a bolshevik wealth distribution system of the working poor, which is the King-Pope hybrid oligarchies of the Middle Ages. Having reached a zenith bleedout rate on the corporeal politic under Obama-Clinton, it is now paracitizing each other into a bolshevik wealth *churning* system for the fascist monopolists, and obviously an Oliver Twistesque abandonment of the working poor.

for me blathering is pretty much opening my mouth, but…
1)don’t vote(this part is simple)
2)don’t pay federal income tax (by keeping your income at a non-taxable (poverty) limit)
this one asks for some serious contemplation/creative thinking
3)don’t consume(beyond an obvious minimum and kept at a local level whenever possible)
also, #2 will help out here and will also encourage bartering and other more creative
trading arrangements
4)don’t take on debt
5)don’t join the military
like i said, a massive act of non-compliance, requiring enormous sacrifice…
and many many millions of participants(300 dissenters munching pizza in Zuccotti Park won’t cut the mustard).

or just vote for Jill Stein, and let her worry about it!

@ juliania | Nov 10, 2016 10:14:05 AM | 265
Juliana, you will have to figure it out for yourself, what I say and what you think I say. And no, I do not prefer only two effective parties on a ballot, I do object to those pretending a narrow single interest group is a political party and fraudulently promoting that group as something it isn’t. The Libertarian IS an actual political party, registered in all 50 states and two former governors as candidates, whereas the Faux-Greens Party only appear in about 40 states and has ??? for candidates.
I do prefer that the voting citizen have realistic sensibilities about exercising the vote, not some pie in the sky delusional expectations and demands for conditions that do not exist outside the cartoons of their dreams. You might rather that than reality, I don’t know nor care.
As for ad hominems, you would be well paid to find out what that term means, in the original, and use it sparingly, don’t let your ignorance get the better of you. That by the way was an ad hominem – to the person as well as about the person. I will not waste more of my time with your naïf bewilderments.
I will not vote, to do so concedes legitimacy to an illegal governance. If you recall my commentary was all about voting for your self interests, IF you can sort those out for yourselves. I seriously doubt you have that capacity. This ends this subject.

Several posts above in the line of “meet the old boss, the same as the new boss”, “don’t have any illusions”, “the Pals. can pack their bags”…
One thing that has puzzled me is the fact that DT was so certain of winning. Yes, he is an over-confident narcissist, a crook used to convincing, a TV show-man, aka actor, to WIN you have to believe in ya’self, fill in ++.
Why did HRC run the most incredibly poor campaign I have ever witnessed from a major pol? Bis, yes the Dems are flap-lally-doo, her advisors are crony-fake corrupt groupies on the take, HRC is dumb as a rock, HRC is in poor health so can’t take the pace, etc. Even: HRC was propulsed by the Dems (representatives of a neo-con-lib faction) as the somehow default figurehead of the nexus network of MSM-FIRE-big Corps-war mongers who invested in her, pulling the Bernie Sanders trick to gather in young Dem voters. Allrighty.
What IF…it really all is a circus?
The US internally and as an Empire is in sharp decline. Examine world trade since 1955, GDP per capita, health / education / employment stats, debt, the budget (military..), and the rogue-mafia type regime change operations which US citizens like to call ‘war’ and ‘defending democrazzy’ etc., to mention only a few points. In such situations, a ‘nationalist’ and ‘isolationist’ stance is a winning position.
Withdrawal from the world stage (posted that before and some objected), is always focussed on national inclusiveness as DT has done. (DT is against illegal immigrants, for the rest ‘homophobic, misogynist’ talk etc. was bait for the MSM which they fell for.) All congruent with an conventional MSM script: when the ‘little ppl’ are angry enough, they elect a populist right winger. (See also Brexit, M. le Pen, etc.) MAGA, in that landscape, is a great slogan.
What if DT was ‘allowed’ to be elected precisely to deal with the consequences of the decline which hasn’t actually been sharply felt yet, or hasn’t lead to any consequent or effective ‘revolutionary’ moves?
How to interpret that?
Follow the money is one trail. Involves cutting off the F in FIRE. With Finance running much behind the scenes. (Petro dollar.)

The federal government has offered to renegotiate the North American free-trade agreement, a gesture of goodwill to Donald Trump as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged to work “very closely” with the incoming president to foster greater continental prosperity.
Mr. Trump campaigned on upgrading the 1994 trade pact during the election and vowed to tear up the agreement if the U.S. isn’t able to get a better deal from Canada and Mexico.
The Prime Minister spoke with Mr. Trump Wednesday night and invited him to visit Canada.
David MacNaughton, Canada’s ambassador to Washington, said that Mr. Trudeau is willing to sit down at the bargaining table with the Trump administration.

Today yes, something puzzled me a small bit on the Dem side…the fact that she hardly went outside to talk to people. I mean, perhaps she’s ill, the eyes look as though she looking in two directions in some shot…but, come on, 3 rallies in a 5 week period…’ Vs Trumps’ mad 2-rallies-a-day-at-times output…? It’s almost as if she didn’t want it. Like, at all. Assange made comment in his interview with Pilger, that he felt sorry for her, that he could sense the weight of the machine she was carrying. Bernie would have won, but was forced to sign non-aggression pact for a primary that featured only 3 candidates vs 17 rethugs.
On the Dem side, definitely some Mickey Mouse effort in parts.

@275 john
Well I agree with you on all your non-compliance steps except number 1. And there seem to be more and more people who conform, involuntarily, with 2 through 4 … 5, and the cops, seems to be the only ‘work’ available to too many others.
I think that if instead of suffering through it all in isolation we organized ourselves, we could at least stop the killing, and the sense of community and fellowship that resulted from our organization would reduce the fake ‘allure’ of ‘big money’, debt, and consumption.
Looking at the political setup in the USA it seems to me to be quite possible simply to organize, seize power, and take over. But of course a society is optimized to get exactly the results is does get, as Stephen(?) Covey used to purr of organizations in general. I worked, at one point, for an outfit that paid for us all to sit and listen to his spiel. So there’s something about our society that atomizes us and keeps us from doing just what seems to me to be required to improve our common lot. And that’s proved very difficult to overcome.
I am heartened at the enthusiasm shown for the defeat of Hillary Clinton/the accession of Donald Trump. I think, as I’ve said, that the same sort of enthusiasm might be brought about by the defeat of Hillary Clinton/the defeat of Donald Trump/the accession of us ‘others’. More widespread and more effective, as well. I read of the poor burned out Clinton converts acting out in the streets, just as the Trump enthusiasts are doing here. I am skeptical, I don’t think that any of it has changed anything.
I think the thing to do is to continue pushing for self-government. The future looks bleak indeed if we are left to the rule of the heedless (deaf, dumb, and blind) cream (or scum, depending on your viewpoint) that floats to the top in our political-economic milieu.
Of course, here I am in Thailand, on the other side of the earth, talking about community and fellowship in the USA. But what I’m talking about is still the reality among the rural majority here in Thailand, if not in Bangkok, which more nearly resembles the globalized ‘ideal’, and I am nostalgic for that community myself, in my own homeland.
It might be that, rather than spreading from here to there, it will be eliminated here, and here made into there. That is the plan of the globalizers, certainly, and they’re armed and in power in Bangkok.

THIS IS NOT OVER YET. Declaring Hitlary Killton winning the popular vote is absolute BULL!
Only possible if Smartmatic devices rigged the election. Their plan to steal the presidency:

…I am writing this not to alarm, but to inform. I believe the Cabal is going to attempt to steal the election, and I’ll describe how they plan to do it below. With this information I believe we need to bring our force to bear, and prevent what the Cabal is planning. I’ve included information below that details actions that you can take to help stop them.
There are currently 3 states that have not declared a winner of the presidential election. The states are Arizona, Michigan, and New Hampshire.
I’ve done some digging. On the Guardian’s electoral map, checking each precinct, in each state, all precincts are completely reported. There is nothing, therefore, from stopping the officials in those states from declaring a winner.
Looking at other sources of information, however, and we get different results. For Arizona, results.azcentral.com shows that 2 precincts are NOT reported. There are 1467 precincts reporting out of 1469. Which is correct? Why hasn’t the Secretary of State declared a winner?
For Michigan, it appears that all precincts have reported, but still, no winner has been declared. You can go to the NY Times interactive map, and see that they are listing the Trump victory chance at 92%, aka likely… not even very likely.
And same thing for New Hampshire, 100% of precincts reporting. Still not called.
HERE IS THEIR PLAN – The Cabal plans to either delay these states then force recounts and find “missing ballots” and switch all of these states to Hillary. That won’t make a big splash in the news because Trump has already won the election.
BUT THEN – This leaves Trump up by only 9 electoral votes. And they have already created the notion that TRUMP LOST THE POPULAR VOTE – SO… a majority of Americans wanted Hillary. They will force 9 (going to House, Ryan selects Hillary) or 10 Electors to switch their votes to Hillary (bribes, or the popular vote was for Hillary, threat of death – maybe photos of the other people Hillary has killed).
AND THEN – Hillary is declared as President. The media will say this is shocking, but it is only fair as she “did win the popular vote”.
SO, what to do? One, we need this thread pinned. Then we need to start spreading this news so people are aware of this, so this is not surprising when they execute their plans. Then, people need to contact the offices of the Secretary of State below, and find out information about why the Secretaries haven’t declared a winner. We need these state to declare a winner. Trump will go up by 27 electoral votes, and it would be too difficult to force 36 Electors to flip their votes to Hillary.
We’ve been celebrating, relaxing, appreciating a rest from the exhaustion of this election. BUT IT IS NOT OVER. Let’s do our duty and force this issue now. We cannot let them steal this election. We have won… but it ISN’T OFFICIAL YET.
GET TO WORK.

dahoit #282.
Oh yes he has… Choosing Mike Pence, one of the most anti-LGBTI people in US politics.
As he courted the ‘religious right’ and fell more and more into bed with them, he became steadily more anti-LGBTI.
Then: http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2016/11/lgbtq-rights-will-likely-suffer-donald-trump-presidency-say-advocates/
“While Trump attempted to appeal to LGBTQ voters at various points in his campaign, including claiming he would protect the community from “the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology” during his speech at the Republican National Convention and waving an upside down Pride flag during a rally, he has voiced support for anti-LGBTQ policies and chose an anti-LGBTQ running mate.
“It’s a very bitter time,” Rachel Tiven, CEO of the civil rights organization Lambda Legal, tells NPR. “He has promised to appoint people to executive branch agencies, and within the White House and the Justice Department, who are hostile to LGBT people.””
“While Trump initially said he supported trans people using whatever bathrooms make them most comfortable, he later walked that back and said he sides with states like North Carolina, who passed a so-called “bathroom bill” with House Bill 2, in the battle over these rights.
Rea Carey, the executive director of the National LGBTQ Task Force, points out that the GOP platform, to which Trump will be held, is staunchly anti-LGBTQ, including supporting state’s rights to limit transgender bathroom use, opposition to same-sex marriage, and support for conversion therapy.”
And: http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2016/09/donald-trump-pledges-sign-anti-lgbtq-first-amendment-defense-act/
“That argument gets harder to believe by the week, as he gives speeches at anti-LGBTQ events, sticks up for homophobic and transphobic legislation and surrounds himself with bigoted politicians and advisers. Now we have a new offense to add to the list.
Plus:
“Trump has pledged to sign the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA), if passed by congress. It was first introduced in the House on June 17, 2015 and would effectively legalize anti-LGBTQ discrimination across the board, including among employers, businesses, landlords and healthcare providers, as long as they claim to be motivated by a firmly held religious beliefs.
It would act to overturn the executive order signed in 2014 by President Obama prohibiting anti-LGBTQ discrimination among federal contractors.
The statement, added to Trump’s website on Thursday under the title “Issues Of Importance To Catholics” and the subtitle “Religious Liberty,” reads:
Religious liberty is enshrined in the First Amendment to the Constitution. It is our first liberty and provides the most important protection in that it protects our right of conscience. Activist judges and executive orders issued by Presidents who have no regard for the Constitution have put these protections in jeopardy. If I am elected president and Congress passes the First Amendment Defense Act, I will sign it to protect the deeply held religious beliefs of Catholics and the beliefs of Americans of all faiths. The Little Sisters of the Poor, or any religious order for that matter, will always have their religious liberty protected on my watch and will not have to face bullying from the government because of their religious beliefs.” ”
And: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2016/11/10/anti-lgbt-christians-are-already-working-to-undo-marriage-equality/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
“On the first day after Donald Trump‘s election, the National Organization of Marriage laid out their plan for overturning marriage equality and ruining the lives of any and all LGBT individuals:”
“We will work with President Trump to nominate conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, individuals who will adhere to the words and meaning of the constitution. Such justices will inevitably reverse the anti-constitutional ruling of the Supreme Court imposing same-sex ‘marriage’ on the nation in the Obergefell decision, because that decision lacked any basis in the constitution.
We will work with President Trump to rescind the illegal, over-reaching executive orders and directives issued by President Obama, including his dangerous “gender identity” directives, attempting to redefine gender just as he sought to redefine marriage.”

People are pointing to ads placed for ‘workers’ – no skills/experience necessary – at $16-18/hour under ‘No to Trump’ or similare headings over the wire. Apparently there has been a shooting at ant-Trump demonstrations in Portland OR. The vote counting in blue states keeps adding to Clinton’s total. All this leads people to make comparisons between the Ukrainian Maidan and what’s happening mow in the US … especially the shooting – snipers? The cops on the scene were treating it as a crime and not defending themselves from charges of shooting a demonstrator … that would leave whom as a prospective suspect? A ‘fascist Trump supporter’? Could be, I suppose, or could be one of Soros’ snipers. I guess, as with everything about this ‘upset’ victory, we’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out.
There are truly ominous rumors on “Trump’s” cabinet choices – first question is will they be his? was Pence his pick? – as well. This reminds me ominously of the still after the 9/11 – performance – before GWB emerged from his retreat backstage to announce that ‘everything had changed’ after 9/11.
