Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

The FBI's Clinton Investigation Is Wider Than Assumed

The Washington Post editors today added to their hypocrisy with three additional anti-Comey op-eds:

I interpret that as naked fear that their candidate Hillary Clinton may now loose. That fear is justified.

The Wall Street Journal today added to its so far excellent reporting on the Clinton issues by revealing the much bigger story behind it: FBI in Internal Feud Over Hillary Clinton Probe - Laptop may contain thousands of messages sent to or from Mrs. Clinton’s private server (open copy here).

According to the reporting, based on FBI sources, FBI agents in New York and elsewhere have been looking into the Clinton Foundation for several months. They suspect that this "charity" was selling political favors by then Secretary of State Clinton in exchange for donations that personally benefited the Clinton family.

The Justice Department blocked further aggressive investigations into the issue, allegedly because of the ongoing election. A high FBI official, Andrew McCabe, also showed disinterest in a further pursuit of the issue. McCabe's wife had just tried to get elected as state senator and had receive a campaign donation of nearly $500,000 from Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Clinton friend and at times board member of the Clinton Foundation. The FBI agents pursuing the investigation into the Clinton Foundation were not amused.

The separate investigation into former Congressman Weiner for sexual contacts with minors was looking for pedophile stuff on Weiner's electronic devices. It didn't find any as far as we can tell, but found some 650,000 emails archived on a laptop.

Several thousand of these emails were sent or received by Weiner's spouse, the intimate Clinton aide Huma Abedin. They came through Clinton's private email server. At least some of these thousands of emails are likely copies of those that were deleted from Clinton's server when the (separate) investigation into it started. They may be evidence that Clinton sent and received classified documents through her unsecured system. Some of these emails may also contain serious dirt related to the Clinton Foundation. (It is highly likely that at least some FBI agents know "unofficially" what these emails contain. Legally they could not look at them without a warrant which they only got today.)

Thus we have three ongoing FBI investigations:

  • into Clinton's private email-server used illegally for official State Department business;
  • into the Clinton Foundation and its role in peddling political influence in exchange for donations;
  • into the personal conduct of Anthony Weiner.

Additional investigations that may come up are on:

  • the mixing of donations to the Clinton Foundation and personal compensation for Bill Clinton for holding highly paid speeches;
  • for profit activities by the group of people running Bill Clinton's businesses as well as the Clinton Foundation financing;
  • inappropriate hindering of the FBI investigations by the Justice Department and/or by McCabe.

With such a list of potentially very serious scandals pending it is highly understandable that FBI director Comey went public and did not follow the advice from the Justice Department to pursue these issues only on a reduced level. It would have been political suicide to try to keep this silent. Way too many FBI agents eager to pursue these case were in the known and would have talked, as they do now, to the media.

If Clinton gets elected she will be hampered by these scandals for the next two years. The Republicans in Congress will jump on these issues as soon as possible. There will be endless hearings with large media coverage. The only question is when the first attempts at an impeachment process will be made - before or after she moves back into the White House. She and her family may be better off with her losing the campaign.

If I'm not mistaken Eric Holder was a recurring chatacter in that 80's TV show CHIPS was he not...? Something about that greasy B-Grade pornstar moustache.

B, you're dead right, Hillary is screwed either way. Uncle Bill won't get to wave his mouldy bratwurst in the East Wing for long if she does get through this.

But she wont. Hillary has fallen off the cliff (see poll below) in the poll below and we're all gonna get to Pitch'n'Putt a nice little 18 holes around the White House lawns on the back of The Don.

No MSM poll is worth anything, especially with so many closet Trump voters this election... but the USC/Dornslife Daybreak differs a little in it's methodology that's worthy of inspection(random selection of 600-800 of the same 3000 participants emailed each day being the main feature). Also worth checking the Characteristics of Candidate graphs - really interesting to get ro know the demographics of what is going to drive what is now a likely landslide win.

http://cesrusc.org/election/

The methodology behind this poll was developed by the RAND corp and correctly predicted Obama beating Romney to 0.5 percentage points in 2012.

Seems the entire "Atlantic media"(bbc, cnn etc etc, aka msm) have all put their collective eggs in Killary's leaky basket. Any pretence of balanced journalism's been thrown out of the window and replaced with brutal yellow propaganda - one which will make chairman Mao blush.

Trump is gunning for the WH those concerned better get use to it. The sad part is, the American people are f*cked either way. Killary will only hasten America's decline and Trump will make it a slow motion one.

What I don't get is, out of the approximately 300 million US citizens, couldn't they find any smart, less crooked person to lead them???

Comey caved to right-wing criticism and pressure.

In the U.S. there is a law that prohibits a public official from influencing, or attempting to influence, an election and yet he took this incomprehensible step against the advice of the Justice Dep't. lawyers.

The only downside of this for voters and for the people of the world is that a wounded Hillary Clinton may be even MORE likely to push for confrontation leading to WWIII. Once talk of war starts, all concern over illegal wrongdoing will fade to the background as everyone rallies in the US to support the "Commander in Chief".

Many people have already voted via early voting and can't take back their votes even if they wanted to. However, I suspect that dyed in the wool Clinton/DNC/Democrat zealots will continue to shout that this is all a vast alt-right conspiracy to tarnish their sweet, innocent Hillary.

A minor spelling error that you keep making:

Loose: Tighten that knot, it's loose.

Lose: The team is down 7 points with five minutes left, so it is likely they will lose.

So did the FBI find Abedin's get out of jail insurance policy, and has that now become Comey's get out of jail insurance policy?

Posted by: stumpy | Oct 31 2016 19:59 utc | 7

Agree with WorldBLee. Hillary has virtually no mandate, little trust, and little support from we, the people...unless she can make the case for a big war. To rule, she will have to rely on her friends on Wall Street, the security establishment, and the media...all of whom find war to be lucrative.

I suggest a triumvirat Trump-Johnson-Wilders or The Three Blond Mops to rule Amerikka and let the rest of the world be a safer place without their interventionism (but if we look at the UK, France or the Turks not to mention KSA and Qatar or Israel, it is hard to believe it would work out).

Marcy Wheeler weighs-in on the scandal here, https://www.emptywheel.net/2016/10/30/story-judicial-dysfunction-behind-comey-whiplash/

The dirt unearthed on HRC ought to have her facing prison for life. Never knew about the quaint rule chet380 @4 alludes to until I read Wheeler's item--a rule that grossly undermines the Rule of Law and shouldn't exist! If HRC should somehow get elected, more than enough evidence already exists to Impeach and Convict--but then the same was true regarding WJC's impeachment.

b, you don't list the significance of the 650,000 (!) emails themselves among your bullets. That number of emails may well represent an image of Hillary's private server email store. It's said that several of her aides were tasked with their destruction ... but it now looks like Abedin 'forgot' about the copy on this machine. Once they're loose ... you're right when you say of Hillary that ...

She and her family may be better off with her losing the campaign.

... and the people on the other end of all those emails will be able to see that - and even more clearly that they may be better off with her losing her campaign - even if dogged determination keeps the blinders on the Clintons themselves.

A big Halloween shout out to The White Wizard, Julian Assange - and of course the wikileaks team. He must have thrown a few fist pumps in tne past 48 hrs I'd say.

Looks as though his campaign is gonna get a little pushed to the side, but his Podesta campaign so far is a lot more than a sideshow. Instead of opting for a massive dump for the punters to search, we saw a well marketed drip-feed highlighted the 'best of' in each set released.

We all owe a great deal to this style of raw journalism. The US election is a circus, no doubt...but there will be a lasting message beyond this edition. The message is clear to the elite and career politicians alike: 'we will find out'

Trump can only fuck up from here. He's NOT a career politician, he can put the broom through DC.

I suspect The Don will be changed by this campaign experience...should he lose he'll continue to get his hate on via TrumpTV.

Posted by: MadMax2 | Oct 31 2016 21:10 utc | 16

I don't think Comey would have hung himself out to dry for purely partisan reasons. I think he forwarded his message to Congress to cover his own ass. The FBI can tell from the metadata what they are looking at, and what they are looking at, as b opines, are probably emails included in the 30,000 that Clinton aides deleted as irrelevant.

Clinton will likely limp to victory because most voters find the email imbroglio to be just so much noise. The gender gap still holds. But Hillary's victory will be a lot tighter than anticipated last week. Contrary to WorldBLee @ 5, I think her modest margin of victory will make it harder for her to wage a cruise missile attack on Syria. I think it also makes it more difficult for Obama to push through TPP in the lame duck session.

An observation of our dilemma worth quoting by Pepe Escobar:

"Still, as we all keep an intense desire for devouring events, there is immense disappointment as well, because the content of information is desperately inferior to the means of broadcasting them. Call it a pathetic, universal contagion; people don’t know what to do about their sadness or enthusiasm – in parallel to our societies becoming theaters of the absurd where nothing has consequences.

"No acts, deeds, crimes (the 2008 financial crisis), political events (the WikiLeaks emails showing virtually no distinction between the «nonprofit» Clinton cash machine, what’s private and what’s public, the obsessive pursuit of personal wealth, and the affairs of the state) seem to have real consequences.

"Immunity, impunity, corruption, speculation - we veer towards a state of zero responsibility (think Goldman Sachs). So, automatically, we yearn for an event of maximum consequence, a «fatal» event to repair that scandalous non-equivalence. Like a symbolic re-equilibrium of the scales of destiny.

"So we dream of an amazing event – Trump winning the election? Hillary declaring WWIII? - that would free us from the tyranny of meaning and the constraint of always searching for the equivalence between effects and causes." http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2016/10/30/american-dream-revisited.html

His entire essay is excellent, but this excerpt stood out and perfectly encapsulates the past year's events and revelations.

Big difference between Bill then and Hillary now is that Slick Willie's approval ratings were in the 60-percent range during the Lewinsky impeachment. People rallied to his presidency because they felt like the Republicans were overreaching and staging a coup based on sex games with cigars and semen-stained dresses. Slick then took those high approval ratings and bombed Sudan, as bomba mentions, and even worse, went to war with Yugoslavia.

Hillary has a split Democratic base beneath her. Nothing like Bill enjoyed.

This whole last second intervention might be a sign of electoral shenanigans to cancel the election, and one should never underestimate the malevolent and powerful force behind HRC,zion to arrange that.
What gets me is how any sane human could vote for such a dismal, criminal self immolating screwup as HRC.Mindboggling.
And the resistance to Trump, and the return of American sovereignty from said zionists, who,to any rational human, are the nexus of this world crisis of profit over humanity,is also another headscratcher.
Zionist instigated wars of nonsense where millions are displaced and murdered and Western civilization under the duress of said refugees of war and economic criminals, and people find fault with Trumps vulgarity, and the issues he clearly is much better on are ignored.
To vote for HRC,who has worked hand in hand with the ZNN in subverting our democracy,is insane.
A national lobotomy by the MSM has to be it,and good old divide and conquer nonsense emanating from the same source,as much of her support are from America haters.
And our MSM still protects her.A bunch of traitors. And they wonder why newspapers died.Zion killed them.

She and her family may be better off with her losing the campaign.
Very true, and for the Democratic Party as well. There was a longtime Clinton supporter acknowledging that, couched in the language of a Constitutional crisis. Whoever wins the White House this time is going to be facing an ugly situation in two years.

Posted by: Thirdeye | Oct 31 2016 22:58 utc | 23

And yet another excellent article about this entire scandal and its implications by Alexander Mercouris:

"Hillary Clinton should never have been the Democratic Party’s candidate for the Presidency. It is very troubling that neither she nor Bill Clinton were able to see this for themselves. Quite simply Hillary Clinton has far too much ‘back story’, and far too many character flaws, to be a fit person to be President.

"What however has turned this whole election into a complete disaster is that the entire US political establishment – not just the Democratic Party establishment but even a large part of the Republican Party establishment, the greater part of the US news media, and large parts of the US bureaucracy including as we have seen the intelligence services – has chosen to disregard this fact, and has bent over backwards not just to make it possible for Hillary Clinton to stand for President, but to help her win." http://theduran.com/hillary-clinton-planted-a-bomb-under-american-democracy/

Mercouris's observation is totally correct, but few have come out to say that this election proves beyond doubt that the entire Establishment and its institutions are corrupted beyond redemption and can no longer command competency or legitimacy of any sort.

Comey is biased and guilty of not blaming Putin, says The Huffington Post.

FBI’s James Comey Opposed Naming Russia As An Election Meddler, Source Confirms

FBI Director James Comey privately argued against having his bureau sign onto a statement saying the Russian government was meddling in the U.S. election, CNBC first reported on Monday, citing “a former FBI official.”

A source familiar with the interagency discussions confirms to The Huffington Post that Comey declined to do so because, specifically, he was concerned the statement was coming too close to the election.

Eric Holder 1n 1999 wrote the Collateral-Bank-Damage loophole that was covertly implanted into judicial context to be later used to justify TooBigToFail.
He outlined how bankster cases should include consideration of recoil effects of justice settlements, lest any punishment-damage hurt the worldwide economy, etc.

All later to be exploited when same Eric Holder became US Attorney General.

Example-- HJSBC was slapped on the wrist with $5 million fine for laundering $Billions of Central/South American drug trafficing funds that translated into enabling further drug terrorism. The threat of jailing actual bank executives for the crimes was considered untenable. Rinse and repeat!

So much for our justice system.

Or to be clearer: any US administration that actually tries to do this shit fully *deserves* to have a civil war that blows up in its face and wipes it out.

I see a lot of certainty of opinion, but little actual information. It seems to me that the FBI Director is playing politics. Less presidential than internal organizational at the FBI, reporting suggests.

Bush AG Gonzales is not happy with Comey's irregular procedure, and Obama AG Holder is not pleased about Comey's violation of protocols.

And it's not just senior politicos, prosecutors are not happy either.

So we don't know who sent them or what's in them, but yet somehow The Day-Glo Duckhead is sure it's the biggest thing since Watergate. Oddly, John Dean from Watergate disagrees. And notes that Mrs. Clinton was not fired from the Watergate investigation.

Wonkette's account is way more fun than her underlying source, The New York Times. It quotes Dean as saying of the Watergate investigation exposed "astounding abuses of presidential power by Nixon..." Burglaries, illegal surveillance, using agencies like the FBI and IRS against journalists, authors and political opponents, and the White Houses official "enemies list" were covered up by perjury and obstruction of justice.

She quotes Dean on the present "scandal."

Contrast that with Mrs. Clinton, whose “scandal” is the result of her desire — like that of many, including President Obama — not to give up her Blackberry email account when she entered the executive branch.

You know, as a Canadian company, well, a serious security risk. Wonkette wraps up their account of Dean's position thusly:

Dean concludes by saying Donald Trump himself is quite a lot like Richard Nixon, except for Nixon had some good qualities, while Trump seems to be a 100% grade-A shitbrick with no redeeming qualities. (Not his exact words.)

"No Redeeming Qualities" would be a more accurate slogan than "Make America Great Again."

I think an important aspect of the huge Huma email stash is that indirect 'pattern of behavior' evidence may also be damning.

Remember that Comey's recommendation against prosecution was based on what he believed to be a lack of intent. He drew that conclusion mostly because he didn't have factual evidence that would argue intent.

As a long-term aid and confident, Huma's emails seem likely to shed a good deal of light on how Hillary operates behind the scenes. If the rumors are true, Huma's emails may well reveal Hillary as a shrewd operator that is not as clueless as she has pretended ("you mean like with a cloth?"; she did know what classified marking were, etc.) and knowingly flouts law(s).

@24 Re: Mercouris's article: Far from being a disaster this election is about America giving signs of coming back to life from its deathbed and recovering its sanity.

A pedantic point of possible interest, to b: 'disinterested' is now commonly used when intending 'not interested' or as a variant of 'uninterested', and 'disinterested' is losing its previous useful and basic meaning: as a synonym for 'impartial' interest. Although perhaps a more to the point definition would be 'fair-minded attentiveness'.

Trump represents a political and cultural near miracle of sorts: it seemed as though the murderous war mongering police state catastrophic Criminal Network Monstrosity System was about to complete its 'triumph': globally, human freedom extinguished, the biosphere destroyed, every sovereignty tending country destroyed. In the end, a few gloating billionaire pedophiles as evolution's finale. The people of the United States, while its military and saboteurs have for generations shot and bombed and destroyed just about anything that moves independently outside of America, the American people had become brain-dead, obese, depressed, diabetic, prematurely senile, reveling in stupidity, etc. Zombies. Hopeless.

But miraculously, along comes Trump, wielding an avalanche outpouring of forthright utterances, some right on, some awry, but all free-fire style, injecting into public discourse on the presidential level the un-sayable: Iraq was better with Saddam Hussein, I can work with Putin, what's with this autism epidemic, hey the real unemployment rate is way higher than they're pretending, Hillary is sooo corrupt, belongs in jail, not going to use nuclear weapons first, we're going to have effective border security, we're going to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, we're going drain the Washington's swamp of corruption, the MSM is totally corrupt, we're going to reduce red tape, hey those buildings on 9/11 did not come down from airplanes, and so on.

So every corrupt media presstitute, every corrupt politician, every prominent alphabet agency hack, every politically correct sicko, at first hit back furiously, and lots of people fell for it. Trump is scary; Trump is dangerous; Trump is a buffoon, etc. But then, then, something happened: the miracle happened, and sensing it, those complicit in depravity, those who perpetrated it or enabled it, began to collectively shit their pants, and the rats are beginning to abandon ship.
-
What happened was that a near miracle happened: the hypnotized American zombie public had actually retained or squirreled away some seed of, common sense and decency somewhere; and they awoke; and enough of them saw through the media hostile blitz and responded enthusiastically to someone running for president who for once was not just doing the scripted posturing thing, but was authentic, real. He might be right wrong or indifferent on any given matter. But he was relentlessly authentic, spoke from his heart the language of the people, even when telling the occasional fib.

Now the question is, can the US voters defeat the rigged electronic voting and ballot stuffing efforts of the sicko PTB, and if that dragon is slayed, then will the electoral college deny the people their decision and champion?

First of all let us clarify one thing. FBI and/or the police are not your friends no matter how tight you close your eyes and plug your ears. Over the years they have become nothing more than a private protection force for "the elite" and their servants.
Now, let's get to the point. News is emerging that both, Obummer and Lynch HAVE directly ordered Comey to "stand down". However, it would seem that Comey has come across some information in this latest batch of emails that is not just damaging to Killary but,if undisclosed now, would be very damaging to wide circle of individuals and various agencies, including FBI, and, therefore Comey decided to independently stand up to bullies and not be a fall guy this time around. I think he is fully aware that if he fails that it is his head on the block.
Due to his past record of getting Killary off scott free (most likely under pressure, threat on his or his family life or whatever) and current situation where rats are starting to leave the sinking ship (MSM changing tone, celebrities withdrawing support etc.etc.) and to try and make himself look good once again (could be to clear his consciences) he has decided to kick the hornets nest. All the screaming about interfering with election is to be expected from those who have lot invested in Killary and a lot more to lose. However, it is not unprecedented. Some of you might remember election of 1992 when BC was beneficiary of exactly the same scenario. Remember Laurence Walsh and Casper Wainburger?
However, saying all this, it should have never come so far anyway. 18 U.S. code 2071 clearly states and I quote:
"whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the US, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both...
and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the US" end quote.
This is felony crime and the "server" itself is the crime regardless of what was on it. Killary set up her private server to circumvent the law, end of story.
Although I hold Trey Gowdy and Mr. Chaffetz in great respect I cannot understand their failure to point to this. And, Comey should have know this as well and from simple fact of setting up private server Killary has shown her criminal intent.
As the whole new can of worms has been opened I believe that it is not too late to, in addition to whatever comes out of the latest batch of emails which, I believe will be most telling in batch of 10.000 emails called "life insurance" use this information to force her out of campaign for being a US code felon.
Alas, I believe that she is not going to be around to face any of the crimes that she perpetrated over last 30 or so years. More likely scenario is that Killary will play vanishing act and join her 1.8 billion greenback friends in Qatar.
Unless you Yanks do something about it...

I have seen Hillary defenders or talking heads discussing whether the emails had secret info in them or not BUT that misses the point. The FBI has already made it clear that they don't care if there was secret info in emails (there already was in other emails of hers) because they claimed it was al about "intent." So might not the problem be that these emails with Huma Abedin be scheming about covering up Hillary's wrongdoing or something like that? Somethingthat might show Hillary lied to the FBI?

Eric Holder was a private attorney whom represented Chiquita Banana/United Fruit Company in defense of lawsuits brought by:

Fruit pickers whom had been poisoned by DDT and other chemicals, and workers whom had overcome their gunshot wounds; and the relatives of deceased workers whom had been shot and killed while on strike against the company; or those whom were shot and killed for other reasons.

This was an indication of the kind of corporate boot licker; and general suck-up to power that Eric Holder is.

Lots of excellent comments on a scintillating original article, for which thanks x 2.

The cynic in me whispers in my ear that the FBI agents who have piled on the pressure on Comey over the past few months know EXACTLY what kind of incriminating material is held on Weiner's laptop (oops). The achievement of the warrant is just a green light to "unchain the hounds " against HRC.

The Clinton campaign is blowing Comey's memo all out of proportion -- insisting that Comey acted with partisan intent and insisting this was a Hatch act violation ... which means all of those who talked to Comey will need to give testimony as to what was said by whom, to either support or discredit this assertion.

I'm guessing that Lynch and Obama will not want to be deposed on this and it will go no where ... My suspicion is that (regardless of what may be said publicly) this was actually agreed upon... He gave a head's up to Obama and Lynch and others ... his career is on the line because - apparently - Abedin doesn't keep track of her "personal devices" and her husband's criminal device-dependent "indiscretions" resulted in a household search without the usual "courtesy" forewarning afforded the high and mighty.

I'm very tempted to hope fervently that simple computer forensics (as to when those files were accessed, for instance) put Abedin in the hot seat, singing her head off ... Time will tell.

Posted by: Susan Sunflower | Nov 1 2016 1:37 utc | 36

I'm inclined to think the laptop is an illegal "backup" copy of all these records for the convenience of the "inner circle" when they get around to writing their memoirs, etc. If there was a known smoking gun on that laptop, it would not have been available to be seized. It would be in a Rubbermaid bin in someone else's storage locker in some other city ... Once Comey announced that no charges would be filed, "why" and "who" would hold onto the evidence is not so obvious. They've already been bedeviled by documents that refused to stay deleted and/or lost.

The global plutocrats that own private finance and everything else have had since 2008 to set this shit storm up and it is a doozy. Americans are being thrown under the bus and into a new multi polar world they are ill prepared to accept.

Maybe the FBI is linked in with the top military brass and a neither of the above candidates but military "leadership" is in the offing.

The liberal icon Michael Moore is out with his pro-Hilton movie, Trumpland.

But, ironically, in this 2.5 min excerpt that is circling the globe at viral hyper-speed (1.4 million views), Moore pretty well explains why DTDuck will win this thing.

The link came to me last night from a friend in Brisbane, Queensland, fer chrissake. Most of them Ozzies don’t even know where USA is and yet they really understand down there what is going on here.

Moore picks the issues apart and exposes the common concerns that everyone south of 1% can agree on. And that’s Moore’s surprise: there actually is common ground, and it’s DTDuck who is occupying it.

In the mean time, Hilton’s lead is dropping faster than Bilton’s zipper in the Oral Office.

Please stop it.

The "emails" (that liberal lure Bernie said "no one wants to read about") being leaked are important not simply because of obstruction of justice but because of the non-stop racketeering being revealed.

Your comment informs no one on this board. If anyone here wanted to RE-read vanilla talking points from the DNC or their dittoheads, we could RE-read them in SOOOoo many other places (where we've already seen them).

So, if I have this right, the service provider, 'GMail' in this case it seems, has a front row inside seat to all the cross-discussion emails and networks going on in the Government’s non-secure public internet ‘Clinton’ emailing domain.

We must assume that GMail and the like (being the 100% snoops they are) know exactly what government business is being conducted on/thru their email services. So, surely knowing this situation and taking no action to report it must be in breach of certain State laws and make them a party to the crime etc? I’d assume if it was pedophilia, drugs or the ‘ISIS’ boggy then there would be certain agencies swooping down in short order etc.

Not in this case it seems. Gmail and its elite ‘exceptional’ clients are obviously beyond the Law that rules the 99%.

I'd be curious to know what email SPAM Clinton her co-conspirators get from their email providers when discussing the usual subjects. Hardly likely to be vacation deals – perhaps more like FBI/CIA insurance protection?

It would be interesting to see what the Gmail policy is on this type of law breaking. However, I guess the commercial and geopolitical value of such intel would be far greater than any slap on the wrist fine they would likely suffer if held to account.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link -- and any state or commercial actor seeking competitive advantage would have to see this as a lolly shop. Putin hardly needs the 'KGB' the read these Clinton lips (sinking ships). He must be laughing himself to sleep each night with this US farce.

IIRC, Andrew McCabe at FBI was promoted to Deputy Director FBI in January 1916 and was tasked with oversight of HRClinton email investigation.

He decided he no longer had a conflict-of-interest because wife Jill had lost her campaign election.

Prior, he was Assistant Dep Dir FBI and recused himself from related matters due to wife receiving election funds of $657,000 from HRC close friend, Virginia Governor McCauliffe's PAC and Va. Dem Party.

Conflict-of-interest? What conflict...?
Hopefully FBI Dir Comey put him straight on this.

I was listening rather than watching, but in a roundtable on Charlie Rose, it turned out that in other testimony Huma Abedin "routinely" forwarded ALL pieces of e-mail received to her private e-mail account and this likely explains how these e-mailed ended up on this laptop ... yes, at least once she forwarded something classified (but not terribly) to that account that shouldn't have been .... It changes nothing. Trump will not win, cannot win, and meanwhile, nothing of substance having to do with Clintons REAL record of global and national betrayal and atrocity will be "discussed" in the corporate media. Not that it would have anyway, but now any possibility(no matter how remote) that the most recent WikiLeaks email dump, which contains quotes and revelations even more appalling than the previous, will get any attention is removed. It is funny how both candidates are doing VERY VERY well highlighting the corruption of each other lol. The timing things are getting highlighted though makes you doubt a lot, if things were more clear at the beginning of the elections, results might have been very different for other candidates. Its also worrying that the amount of corruption already highlighted might still be very minimal of the whole reality. From a very neutral point of view, both can't be elected as president at any cost really. If it has to happen & american citizens simply can't have a real say here, i see trump slightly better candidate. Clinton foundation seems way deeper in corruption, i find it too dishonest to make use of charity the way they do plus her foreign affairs policies are based mainly on jews interests not american citizens. I can't see any real (pro american citizens) in clinton while i see a bit in trump.

When looking at the circumstances surrounding this "discovery", I have to think that the "muses" are in play. It makes me smile.

Between the email leaks exposing the "men/women behind the curtain" at so many levels and over such a long period of time, and the squirming and contortions they are going through to maintain the facade, it demonstrates to me the folly of embarking down the path of lies thinking that there are no consequences. Evil is evil, it always has a cost.

The positive is, as mentioned by canuk @31, is that the system has been exposed and more Americans are becoming aware and are starting to push back. Both Democrat a Republican parties use devious means to try to circumvent the people's' will; while the Dem's were successful, and the Republicans were not, Bernie and Donald represent a probably unexpected ground swell against the established order. This is good news.

The 1% fears the masses, that's why they have needed to control them throughout history. It must be disconcerting for them that even when applying all the latest techniques to mesmerize the masses, a significant portion of the "fly over country deplorables" still have independent thought. This seems to be a tipping point and will take on its own momentum from here. It won't be pleasant.

I am also a little curious as to why Huma kept her maiden name.

Hillary cannot be impeached for things that she did as a private citizen after she left the Obama administration. She could theoretically be impeached for things she did as Secretary of State. E-mails - Hillary Clinton and the Muslim Brotherhood, by Thierry Meyssan

In April 2009, two months before his speech in Cairo, President Obama secretly received a delegation of the Brotherhood in the Oval Office. During his induction, he had already invited Ingrid Mattson, the President of the Association of Muslim Brothers and Sisters in the United States.

From their side, the Clinton Foundation had employed Gehad el-Haddad as director for his «Climate» project - he is one of the world leaders of the Brotherhood, and had until that time been director of a Koranic TV programme. His father was one of the co-founders of the Brotherhood, when it was created by the CIA and MI6 in 1951. Gehad left the Foundation in 2012, when he became the spokeman for candidate Mohammed Morsi in Cairo, and then the official spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood world-wide.

Given that all the jihadist leaders in the world have either come from the Muslim Brotherhood or the Sufi Order of the Naqshbandîs – the two components of the Muslim World League, the Saudi anti-Arab nationalist organisation – we would like to know more about Mrs. Clinton’s relations with Saudi Arabia and the Muslim Brotherhood.

As it happens, in the team of her challenger, Donald Trump, we note the presence of General Michael T. Flynn, who attempted to oppose the creation of the Caliphate by the White House, and resigned from the direction of the Defense Intelligence Agency in order to signal his disapproval. He works alongside Frank Gaffney, a historical «Cold Warrior», now qualified as a «conspiracy theorist» for having denounced the presence of the Brotherhood in the Federal State.

It goes without saying that from the FBI’s point of view, any support for jihadist organisations is a crime, whatever the policy of the CIA may be. In 1991, the police – and Senator John Kerry – had provoked the ecollapse of BCCI, a Pakistani bank (although it is registered in the Cayman Islands), which the CIA used for all sorts of secret operations with the Muslim Brotherhood and also the Latino drug cartels.

And since you affect to bring up conflicts of interest and influence peddling, how 'bout Madoff in the White House? How Trump's Conflicts of Interest Could Become Ours? Y'll have "suspiciions" and "feelings" that you "know" are "true." Ah, but The Donald has a history.

Examining the possible conflicts of interest of a Trump administration and his track record when it comes to siphoning the money of others to his personal uses makes him look like a prospective -- to use a term of his -- disaster.

The first and most obvious potential area where conflict of interest is likely play a crucial role: the many decisions a President Trump would have to make on foreign affairs. Kurt Eichenwald vividly explored this issue at Newsweek recently and concluded that it would be a singular reality of any future Trump presidency. After all, many of his businesses exist in countries with which the US has, shall we say, squirrelly relationships....

The immense power Donald Trump would wield over his own interests as president already looms as the biggest conflict of interest in the nation's history. Think of the Oval Office under Trump as a kind of Pandora's Box for the American people.

Thanks to sunshine law affecting politicians, we know quite a bit about Mrs. Clinton's affair. Mr. Trump's tax returns would give a similar sense of his entanglements, which is why he won't release them.

Oh, and his record retention ain't too good either. Again, he has a history, destroying documents demanded by the courts.

Over the course of decades, Donald Trump’s companies have systematically destroyed or hidden thousands of emails, digital records and paper documents demanded in official proceedings, often in defiance of court orders.

Yeah, sure sounds like a guy committed to the rule of law....

An interesting post as usual.

I still wonder if a lot of this email scandal thing is to shield Hillary from coverage of her far more egregious offenses. I mean, previously the email thing dragged on and on, and most Americans don't see the arcana of email server management as critical to their needs, but we were titillated, and then it all went poof. If the same media coverage had been of how she has left large chunks of the world a smoking ruin, of her plans to steal social security and give it to Wall Street, to start a war with Russia, her plans to give multinational corporations de-facto supreme legislative authority, etc., she'd be like 30% in the polls right now.

So maybe the email thing is being brought to life to distract us yet again from what is even more damning, and after the election it will all go away? And it makes her look like a 'victim', and breaks the narrative of a totally rigged system. Of course I don't know. I would prefer to be wrong though: I'd like to think that there are some parts of our government that still care about honor and duty to the nation. Perhaps we will find out soon.

@61 Impeachment is a constitutional level, and the thresh hold is "high crimes and misdemeanors" which means is the President unpopular enough for the Congress to impeach and remove the President. They could impeach Hillary for jaywalking. Not being in good enough health could be deemed as a violation of the oath of office. It's a free for all.

John Podesta's Best Friend At The DOJ Will Be In Charge Of The DOJ's Probe Into Huma Abedin Emails

assistant attorney General Peter J. Kadzik

In the letter to Congress, the DOJ writes that it “will continue to work closely with the FBI and together, dedicate all necessary resources and take appropriate steps as expeditiously as possible,” assistant attorney General Peter J. Kadzik writes in letters to House and Senate lawmakers.

Oh yes. Recall our post from last week, "Clinton Campaign Chair Had Dinner With Top DOJ Official One Day After Hillary's Benghazi Hearing" in which we reported that John Podesta had dinner with one of the highest ranked DOJ officials the very day after Hillary Clinton's Benghazi testimony? It was Peter Kadzik.
Kadzik's role at the DOJ, where he started in 2013, is particularly notable Kadzik, as helped spearhead the effort to nominate Lynch, who was heavily criticized for her secret meeting with the former president.

It gets better because, as we further revealed, if there is one person in the DOJ who is John Podesta's, and thus the Clinton Foundation's inside man, it is Peter Kadjik.

Kadzik represented Podesta during the Monica Lewinsky investigation. And in the waning days of the Bill Clinton administration, Kadzik lobbied Podesta on behalf of Marc Rich, the fugitive who Bill Clinton controversially pardoned on his last day in office.

That history is cited by Podesta in another email hacked from his Gmail account. In a Sept. 2008 email, which the Washington Free Beacon flagged last week, Podesta emailed an Obama campaign official to recommend Kadzik for a supportive role in the campaign. Podesta, who would later head up the Obama White House transition effort, wrote that Kadzik was a “fantastic lawyer” who “kept me out of jail.”

Its possible that AG Loretta Lynch’s head may also eventually end up on the chopping block for meeting with Slick Willie on her plane. While the focus was on Hillery’s email server, the FBI was also running a separate investigation into the corruption at the Clinton Foundation. For Lynch to meet privately with Willie during an ongoing investigation is highly unusual to say the least.

Clintons Are Under Multiple FBI Investigations as Agents Are Stymied
http://wallstreetonparade.com/

“According to Barrett, the “probe of the foundation began more than a year ago to determine whether financial crimes or influence peddling occurred related to the charity.” Barrett’s article suggests that the Justice Department, which oversees the FBI, has attempted to circumvent the investigation. The new revelations lead to the appearance of wrongdoing on the part of U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch for secretly meeting with Bill Clinton on her plane on the tarmac of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on the evening of June 28 of this year. Not only was Bill Clinton’s wife under an FBI investigation at the time over her use of a private email server in the basement of her New York home over which Top Secret material was transmitted while she was Secretary of State but his own charitable foundation was also under investigation, a fact that was unknown at the time to the public and the media.”

Added to the general BS surrounding this whole POS fiasco is the following piece of info I recently came across, which I feel will prove to be very pertinent:
I wonder if the FBI knows this?
According to a recent article at EU Times.net on Oct 16th, 2016:

Hillary and/or the Clintons recently transferred 1.8 Billion, yes Billion, dollars of Clinton Foundation money to the main bank in Quatar, and further the King of Quatar is reportedly preparing the palace for the visit of a very VIP guest after the US elections in Nov.
Which leads me to the following questions given all that is going on with Clintons:
Does anyone really think Hillary does not realize Trump is beating her badly?
Does anyone really think the Clintons don't know that Trump and/or the FBI/DOJ will have to prosecute them given all that has been exposed?
Does anyone think they will not take steps to escape jail?
Does anyone think they will give up the money and live as poor people?
Does anyone think they give a crap about anything but themselves?

I leave you with these two facts:
The first thing the FBI/DOJ would do at a certain point of the investigation into the Foundation ( which is ongoing now) is to freeze and/or seize the accounts , and
Quatar has no extradition agreement with the US.

The day after Hillary Clinton testified in front of the House Select Committee on Benghazi last October, John Podesta, Hillary's campaign chairman met for dinner with a small group of well-connected friends, including Peter Kadzik, who is currently a top official at the US Justice Department serving as Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs.

…the dinner arrangement "is just the latest example of an apparent conflict of interest between the Clinton campaign and the federal agency charged with investigating the former secretary of state’s email practices." Oh, English Outsider, please bear with us. We haven't had this much fun in a long, long time. It may be shortlived, and there's hell happening everywhere, don't think we don't know that. Which hell many of the characters we are lampooning have been responsible for since the Clinton years and before that as well. That we are not hanging, drawing and quartering them is a sign of our civility and forebearance, not to mention the rot under the floorboards of our sinking ship of state.

It can't and won't last.

That is not Tim Kaine speaking. Some have suggested it's one of Mel Gibson's old rants. But I can confirm, unequivocally, that that is not Tim Kaine's voice.

How can I be so sure? He was my Lt. Governor, Governor and now Senator. I have personally known Tim since he launched his Lt. Governor election in '03. His voice sounds absolutely nothing like the one on that recording.

I'm thinking Comey went public for a variety of thoughtful, tactical, strategic reasons.

First, and most importantly, the FBI surrogates who went public prior to Comey's announcement and over the weekend forced DOJ's game out of the shadows and into the light of day. The very last thing the DOJ wanted was to have to admit that the FBI was in fact investigating the Clinton Foundation (and had been for over a year), was now forced to reopen the email saga (under new circumstances) as if that wasn't enough, they have to admit that these thousands of emails were found during an investigation into a child predator. The surrogates collective message to the political leadership in the WH and at the DOJ was 'Hands off of the investigations and let the agents do their jobs.' This also includes Comey but in a very different tactical way than the DOJ/WH.

Going back to the FBI surrogates who went public this last week, I'm sure you've noticed how quiet it has been since the FBI teams forced transparency AND got their subpoena. These retired FBI assets have clearly demonstrated by their words and deeds that they mean business and that the politics of the entire situation had to go dark. Obama made sure the politics went dark yesterday when he publicly backed Comey.

2. Comey had to go public I'm sure for a variety of strategic/tactical reasons with the idea of a 'perjury investigation' being chief among them - http://www.wnd.com/2016/10/gohmert-explains-why-comey-had-to-notify-congress/

3. Comey and his agents knew the DOJ was putting up roadblocks into both the email and foundation investigations. What better way to inoculate your team/strategy/investigation than by announcing it to the world? By making this investigation public the FBI is now able to circumvent the DOJ's obvious intentional roadblocks.

And it would not surprise me one bit to learn that this laptop found at the Weiner abode is one of the missing laptops. The pattern became Huma would send State Dept detail to her laptop using her personal yahoo.com account, which was hacked btw, from which she would then print out at home and prepare for Hillary. I'm confident Huma would size the font to 16 or 18 or larger size given the vision issues Hillary has.

Lastly, had Comey and et al taken the email investigation seriously from the beginning, at least according to the over arching message from the retired FBI surrogates, there would have been no announcement last Friday. FBI agents want to do their jobs and that is what they made abundantly clear over the last week or so to any who chose to listen. It looks like the WH has, listened, that is.

I guess I sorta got Rickrolled on that "Kaine" rant.

Wish people wouldn't do that.

Donald Duckface exxonerated.

FBI sees no ties between Trump, Putin: Report
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has found no clear links between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Russia, officials say, proving false allegations by the candidate’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Amazing it took this long for someone to ask Lurch's weighty opinion of this:

US Secretary of State John Kerry has called this year’s presidential election “embarrassing,” saying his job as the country’s top diplomat has become more difficult.

“There are moments when it is downright embarrassing,” Kerry told students at an event with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan during a visit to Britain on Monday. “This election has been difficult for our country's perception abroad.”

Google (and FB for that matter) is already deflecting The Cloud streams to block our vision of whatever passes for 'reality', so that Undecideds join Berniebots and Stronger Together I'm With Herhim in terror-forming USAryan into a NeoLiberal Pharoahocracy of Something for Everyone But Moar for The Rodham, of Tax the Meek and Grift the Elite, of Boots on the Ground We Came We Saw He Died, Haw, Haw.

There is so much in our society and our economy that could be forged and annealed into a powerhouse again, but for the gribbles and weevils that Rodham represents. And that's sad, ...but what's terrifying is Deep State and The Cloud assure that our Children, and our Grand-Children and our Great-Grandchildren will be Slaves.

Not if, not maybe, but assuredly, and forever, basically.

This didn't take long, either.
Figures perfectly this would come thru AI via RT, too.

White phosphorus munitions used in Islamic State-held Mosul by Iraqi forces pose a grave danger to civilians, as their scattered remains can cause horrific burns all the way to the bones, a senior Amnesty International adviser said.

While white phosphorous is said to be a useful tool aiding the Iraqi forces during their advance on ISIS stronghold of Mosul, it may cause more harm than good on the ground, Donatella Rovera, senior crisis response adviser at Amnesty International, told RT.

The CF-Flees-to- Qatar story was broken by TheRealDonald last week, but those posts were purged by b for being, apparently, an 'urban myth', at least, until the weekend's revelations, at which point, it makes sense, that Rodham was warned by Podesta, who was asked by Comey what he should do about Huma, and I'm sure there is always a Lear Jet somewhere warming up to flee bags of cash to an offshore hide, in fact, a friend of mine confirms that's the case, at any moment there are Lear Jets winging back and forth from London to NYC to Riyadh with shrink-wrapped bales of $100s, that's what Iraq was all about, and Afghanistan, all of them, think of as fireworks as bales of $100s are being grifted.

And that's pretty sad, because those bales of $100s were once our last life savings that are never coming back, ever. Every USAryan should make a pilgrimage in their life to the 3W and really stop and watch and learn, because a 3W Pharoahocracy is the future of our children, unless they Mil.Gov.Fed.

what about an article devoted to the #noDAPL protests?

Posted by: bbbb | Nov 1 2016 18:59 utc | 97

I think this may be relevant:

"Franken had meanwhile moved on to the big picture. What was the fundamental issue with guys like Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich and Pat Robertson?
“You know what I dislike most about these guys? They’re always so certain. They’re always 100 percent sure of what they’re saying.” He paused for a split second. “This is why I like being a Democrat. When we see a complicated, intractable problem, we have the only really genuine, authentic human reaction you can have: we’re confused.”
I stared at Foucault. When Allan Bloom had claimed that liberals are terrified of people who think they are right, I had assumed he was describing a colony on Neptune. Maybe he was instead talking about people like Franken and Foucault. Foucault smiled back at me."

Remember that when more reports of Bill Clinton rapes were just coming out he authorized the bombing of Yugoslavia.

The Killary might just start a bigger war with a false flag operation in 2017 to derail any investigation into her criminality.

The problem with this US election is that they are rightly afraid of having any outsider stepping in, because that would be VERY embarrassing for European governements who have been sponsoring head choppers, fabricating videos etc.
On that I agree with Meyssan
French MSM are also having their "Putin bad bad" moment today (almost everyday in the recent weeks)
Trump as a Putin puppet is the best ever denial i've ever seen. Must be some one those ppl who refuse to see the obscenity of US culture as w hole, so well epitomized in the Donald and his mop
