The only downside of this for voters and for the people of the world is that a wounded Hillary Clinton may be even MORE likely to push for confrontation leading to WWIII. Once talk of war starts, all concern over illegal wrongdoing will fade to the background as everyone rallies in the US to support the "Commander in Chief".

Looks as though his campaign is gonna get a little pushed to the side, but his Podesta campaign so far is a lot more than a sideshow. Instead of opting for a massive dump for the punters to search, we saw a well marketed drip-feed highlighted the 'best of' in each set released.

We all owe a great deal to this style of raw journalism. The US election is a circus, no doubt...but there will be a lasting message beyond this edition. The message is clear to the elite and career politicians alike: 'we will find out'

I don't think Comey would have hung himself out to dry for purely partisan reasons. I think he forwarded his message to Congress to cover his own ass. The FBI can tell from the metadata what they are looking at, and what they are looking at, as b opines, are probably emails included in the 30,000 that Clinton aides deleted as irrelevant.

Clinton will likely limp to victory because most voters find the email imbroglio to be just so much noise. The gender gap still holds. But Hillary's victory will be a lot tighter than anticipated last week. Contrary to WorldBLee @ 5, I think her modest margin of victory will make it harder for her to wage a cruise missile attack on Syria. I think it also makes it more difficult for Obama to push through TPP in the lame duck session.

I see a lot of certainty of opinion, but little actual information. It seems to me that the FBI Director is playing politics. Less presidential than internal organizational at the FBI, reporting suggests.

Bush AG Gonzales is not happy with Comey's irregular procedure, and Obama AG Holder is not pleased about Comey's violation of protocols.

And it's not just senior politicos, prosecutors are not happy either.

So we don't know who sent them or what's in them, but yet somehow The Day-Glo Duckhead is sure it's the biggest thing since Watergate. Oddly, John Dean from Watergate disagrees. And notes that Mrs. Clinton was not fired from the Watergate investigation.

Wonkette's account is way more fun than her underlying source, The New York Times. It quotes Dean as saying of the Watergate investigation exposed "astounding abuses of presidential power by Nixon..." Burglaries, illegal surveillance, using agencies like the FBI and IRS against journalists, authors and political opponents, and the White Houses official "enemies list" were covered up by perjury and obstruction of justice.

She quotes Dean on the present "scandal."

Contrast that with Mrs. Clinton, whose “scandal” is the result of her desire — like that of many, including President Obama — not to give up her Blackberry email account when she entered the executive branch.

I think an important aspect of the huge Huma email stash is that indirect 'pattern of behavior' evidence may also be damning.

Remember that Comey's recommendation against prosecution was based on what he believed to be a lack of intent. He drew that conclusion mostly because he didn't have factual evidence that would argue intent.

As a long-term aid and confident, Huma's emails seem likely to shed a good deal of light on how Hillary operates behind the scenes. If the rumors are true, Huma's emails may well reveal Hillary as a shrewd operator that is not as clueless as she has pretended ("you mean like with a cloth?"; she did know what classified marking were, etc.) and knowingly flouts law(s).

First of all let us clarify one thing. FBI and/or the police are not your friends no matter how tight you close your eyes and plug your ears. Over the years they have become nothing more than a private protection force for "the elite" and their servants.
Now, let's get to the point. News is emerging that both, Obummer and Lynch HAVE directly ordered Comey to "stand down". However, it would seem that Comey has come across some information in this latest batch of emails that is not just damaging to Killary but,if undisclosed now, would be very damaging to wide circle of individuals and various agencies, including FBI, and, therefore Comey decided to independently stand up to bullies and not be a fall guy this time around. I think he is fully aware that if he fails that it is his head on the block.
Due to his past record of getting Killary off scott free (most likely under pressure, threat on his or his family life or whatever) and current situation where rats are starting to leave the sinking ship (MSM changing tone, celebrities withdrawing support etc.etc.) and to try and make himself look good once again (could be to clear his consciences) he has decided to kick the hornets nest. All the screaming about interfering with election is to be expected from those who have lot invested in Killary and a lot more to lose. However, it is not unprecedented. Some of you might remember election of 1992 when BC was beneficiary of exactly the same scenario. Remember Laurence Walsh and Casper Wainburger?
However, saying all this, it should have never come so far anyway. 18 U.S. code 2071 clearly states and I quote:
"whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the US, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both...
and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the US" end quote.
This is felony crime and the "server" itself is the crime regardless of what was on it. Killary set up her private server to circumvent the law, end of story.
Although I hold Trey Gowdy and Mr. Chaffetz in great respect I cannot understand their failure to point to this. And, Comey should have know this as well and from simple fact of setting up private server Killary has shown her criminal intent.
As the whole new can of worms has been opened I believe that it is not too late to, in addition to whatever comes out of the latest batch of emails which, I believe will be most telling in batch of 10.000 emails called "life insurance" use this information to force her out of campaign for being a US code felon.
Alas, I believe that she is not going to be around to face any of the crimes that she perpetrated over last 30 or so years. More likely scenario is that Killary will play vanishing act and join her 1.8 billion greenback friends in Qatar.
Unless you Yanks do something about it...

I have seen Hillary defenders or talking heads discussing whether the emails had secret info in them or not BUT that misses the point. The FBI has already made it clear that they don't care if there was secret info in emails (there already was in other emails of hers) because they claimed it was al about "intent." So might not the problem be that these emails with Huma Abedin be scheming about covering up Hillary's wrongdoing or something like that? Somethingthat might show Hillary lied to the FBI?

The Clinton campaign is blowing Comey's memo all out of proportion -- insisting that Comey acted with partisan intent and insisting this was a Hatch act violation ... which means all of those who talked to Comey will need to give testimony as to what was said by whom, to either support or discredit this assertion.

I'm guessing that Lynch and Obama will not want to be deposed on this and it will go no where ... My suspicion is that (regardless of what may be said publicly) this was actually agreed upon... He gave a head's up to Obama and Lynch and others ... his career is on the line because - apparently - Abedin doesn't keep track of her "personal devices" and her husband's criminal device-dependent "indiscretions" resulted in a household search without the usual "courtesy" forewarning afforded the high and mighty.

I'm very tempted to hope fervently that simple computer forensics (as to when those files were accessed, for instance) put Abedin in the hot seat, singing her head off ... Time will tell.

I'm inclined to think the laptop is an illegal "backup" copy of all these records for the convenience of the "inner circle" when they get around to writing their memoirs, etc. If there was a known smoking gun on that laptop, it would not have been available to be seized. It would be in a Rubbermaid bin in someone else's storage locker in some other city ... Once Comey announced that no charges would be filed, "why" and "who" would hold onto the evidence is not so obvious. They've already been bedeviled by documents that refused to stay deleted and/or lost.

So, if I have this right, the service provider, 'GMail' in this case it seems, has a front row inside seat to all the cross-discussion emails and networks going on in the Government’s non-secure public internet ‘Clinton’ emailing domain.

We must assume that GMail and the like (being the 100% snoops they are) know exactly what government business is being conducted on/thru their email services. So, surely knowing this situation and taking no action to report it must be in breach of certain State laws and make them a party to the crime etc? I’d assume if it was pedophilia, drugs or the ‘ISIS’ boggy then there would be certain agencies swooping down in short order etc.

Not in this case it seems. Gmail and its elite ‘exceptional’ clients are obviously beyond the Law that rules the 99%.

I'd be curious to know what email SPAM Clinton her co-conspirators get from their email providers when discussing the usual subjects. Hardly likely to be vacation deals – perhaps more like FBI/CIA insurance protection?

It would be interesting to see what the Gmail policy is on this type of law breaking. However, I guess the commercial and geopolitical value of such intel would be far greater than any slap on the wrist fine they would likely suffer if held to account.

IIRC, Andrew McCabe at FBI was promoted to Deputy Director FBI in January 1916 and was tasked with oversight of HRClinton email investigation.

He decided he no longer had a conflict-of-interest because wife Jill had lost her campaign election.

Prior, he was Assistant Dep Dir FBI and recused himself from related matters due to wife receiving election funds of $657,000 from HRC close friend, Virginia Governor McCauliffe's PAC and Va. Dem Party.

I was listening rather than watching, but in a roundtable on Charlie Rose, it turned out that in other testimony Huma Abedin "routinely" forwarded ALL pieces of e-mail received to her private e-mail account and this likely explains how these e-mailed ended up on this laptop ... yes, at least once she forwarded something classified (but not terribly) to that account that shouldn't have been .... As Annie Hall said, "la-di-dah, la-di-dah." Scofflaw idiots.

It is funny how both candidates are doing VERY VERY well highlighting the corruption of each other lol. The timing things are getting highlighted though makes you doubt a lot, if things were more clear at the beginning of the elections, results might have been very different for other candidates. Its also worrying that the amount of corruption already highlighted might still be very minimal of the whole reality. From a very neutral point of view, both can't be elected as president at any cost really. If it has to happen & american citizens simply can't have a real say here, i see trump slightly better candidate. Clinton foundation seems way deeper in corruption, i find it too dishonest to make use of charity the way they do plus her foreign affairs policies are based mainly on jews interests not american citizens. When looking at the circumstances surrounding this "discovery", I have to think that the "muses" are in play. It makes me smile.

Between the email leaks exposing the "men/women behind the curtain" at so many levels and over such a long period of time, and the squirming and contortions they are going through to maintain the facade, it demonstrates to me the folly of embarking down the path of lies thinking that there are no consequences. Evil is evil, it always has a cost.

The positive is, as mentioned by canuk @31, is that the system has been exposed and more Americans are becoming aware and are starting to push back. Both Democrat a Republican parties use devious means to try to circumvent the people's' will; while the Dem's were successful, and the Republicans were not, Bernie and Donald represent a probably unexpected ground swell against the established order. This is good news.

The 1% fears the masses, that's why they have needed to control them throughout history. It must be disconcerting for them that even when applying all the latest techniques to mesmerize the masses, a significant portion of the "fly over country deplorables" still have independent thought. This seems to be a tipping point and will take on its own momentum from here. It won't be pleasant.

I am also a little curious as to why Huma kept her maiden name.

Hillary cannot be impeached for things that she did as a private citizen after she left the Obama administration. She could theoretically be impeached for things she did as Secretary of State. There is precedent for impeaching a former cabinet officer (former Secretary of War Belknap in the 19th century).

An interesting post as usual.

I still wonder if a lot of this email scandal thing is to shield Hillary from coverage of her far more egregious offenses. I mean, previously the email thing dragged on and on, and most Americans don't see the arcana of email server management as critical to their needs, but we were titillated, and then it all went poof. If the same media coverage had been of how she has left large chunks of the world a smoking ruin, of her plans to steal social security and give it to Wall Street, to start a war with Russia, her plans to give multinational corporations de-facto supreme legislative authority, etc., she'd be like 30% in the polls right now.

So maybe the email thing is being brought to life to distract us yet again from what is even more damning, and after the election it will all go away? And it makes her look like a 'victim', and breaks the narrative of a totally rigged system. Of course I don't know. I would prefer to be wrong though: I'd like to think that there are some parts of our government that still care about honor and duty to the nation. Perhaps we will find out soon.

Does anyone really think Hillary does not realize Trump is beating her badly?

Does anyone think they will not take steps to escape jail?
Does anyone think they will give up the money and live as poor people?

Oh, English Outsider, please bear with us. We haven't had this much fun in a long, long time. It may be shortlived, and there's hell happening everywhere, don't think we don't know that. Which hell many of the characters we are lampooning have been responsible for since the Clinton years and before that as well. That we are not hanging, drawing and quartering them is a sign of our civility and forebearance, not to mention the rot under the floorboards of our sinking ship of state.

That is not Tim Kaine speaking. Some have suggested it's one of Mel Gibson's old rants. But I can confirm, unequivocally, that that is not Tim Kaine's voice.

How can I be so sure? He was my Lt. Governor, Governor and now Senator. I have personally known Tim since he launched his Lt. Governor election in '03. His voice sounds absolutely nothing like the one on that recording.

I'm thinking Comey went public for a variety of thoughtful, tactical, strategic reasons.

First, and most importantly, the FBI surrogates who went public prior to Comey's announcement and over the weekend forced DOJ's game out of the shadows and into the light of day. The very last thing the DOJ wanted was to have to admit that the FBI was in fact investigating the Clinton Foundation (and had been for over a year), was now forced to reopen the email saga (under new circumstances) as if that wasn't enough, they have to admit that these thousands of emails were found during an investigation into a child predator. The surrogates collective message to the political leadership in the WH and at the DOJ was 'Hands off of the investigations and let the agents do their jobs.' This also includes Comey but in a very different tactical way than the DOJ/WH.

Going back to the FBI surrogates who went public this last week, I'm sure you've noticed how quiet it has been since the FBI teams forced transparency AND got their subpoena. These retired FBI assets have clearly demonstrated by their words and deeds that they mean business and that the politics of the entire situation had to go dark. Obama made sure the politics went dark yesterday when he publicly backed Comey.

3. Comey and his agents knew the DOJ was putting up roadblocks into both the email and foundation investigations. What better way to inoculate your team/strategy/investigation than by announcing it to the world? And it would not surprise me one bit to learn that this laptop found at the Weiner abode is one of the missing laptops. The pattern became Huma would send State Dept detail to her laptop using her personal yahoo.com account, which was hacked btw, from which she would then print out at home and prepare for Hillary. I'm confident Huma would size the font to 16 or 18 or larger size given the vision issues Hillary has.

Lastly, had Comey and et al taken the email investigation seriously from the beginning, at least according to the over arching message from the retired FBI surrogates, there would have been no announcement last Friday. FBI agents want to do their jobs and that is what they made abundantly clear over the last week or so to any who chose to listen. It looks like the WH has, listened, that is.

The problem with this US election is that they are rightly afraid of having any outsider stepping in, because that would be VERY embarrassing for European governements who have been sponsoring head choppers, fabricating videos etc.
