A Desperate Obama Administration Resorts To Lying And Maybe More

On September 28 the French mission to the UN claimed that two hospitals in east-Aleppo had been bombed. It documented this in a tweet with a picture of destroyed buildings in Gaza. The French later deleted that tweet.

It is not the first time such false claims and willful obfuscations were made by "western" officials. But usually they shy away from outright lies.

Not so the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. In a press event yesterday, before talks with the French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault about a new UN resolution, he said (vid @1:00) about Syria:

Last night, the regime attacked yet another hospital, and 20 people were killed and 100 people were wounded. And Russia and the regime owe the world more than an explanation about why they keep hitting hospitals and medical facilities and children and women. These are acts that beg for an appropriate investigation of war crimes. And those who commit these would and should be held accountable for these actions.

No opposition group has claimed that such an extremely grave event happened. None. No press agency has a record of it. The MI-6 disinformation outlet SOHR in Britain, which quite reliably notes every claimed casualty and is frequently cited in "western" media", has not said anything about such an event anywhere in Syria.

The grave incident Kerry claimed did not happen. Kerry made it up. (Was it supposed to happen, got canceled and Kerry missed the memo?) Kerry used the lie to call for war crime investigations and punishment. This in front of cameras, at an official event with a foreign guest in the context of a United Nations Security Council resolution.

This is grave. This is nearly as grave as Colin Powell's false claims of WMD in Iraq in front of the UN Security Council.

Early reports, like this one at CBSNEWS, repeat the Kerry claim:

Kerry said Syrian forces hit a hospital overnight, killing 20 people and wounding 100, describing what would be the latest strike by Moscow or its ally in Damascus on a civilian target.

But the New York Times write up of the event, which includes Kerry's demand for war crime investigations, does not mention the hospital bombing claim. Not at all. For the self-acclaimed "paper of record", Kerry's lie did not happen. Likewise the Washington Post which in its own write up makes no mention of the false Kerry claim.

The latest AP write up by Matthew Lee also omits the lie. This is curious as Matt Lee is obviously aware of it. The State Departments daily press briefing yesterday had a whole section on it. Video (@3:30) shows that it is Matt who asks these questions:

QUESTION: Okay. On to Syria and the Secretary’s comments earlier this morning, one is: Do you know what strike he was talking about in his comments overnight on a hospital in Aleppo?

MR KIRBY: I think the Secretary’s referring actually to a strike that we saw happen yesterday on a field hospital in the Rif Dimashq Governorate. I’m not exactly positive that that’s what he was referring to, but I think he was referring to actually one that was —

QUESTION: Not one in Aleppo?

MR KIRBY: I believe it was – I think it was – I think he – my guess is – I’m guessing here that he was a bit mistaken on location and referring to one —

QUESTION: But you don’t have certainty, though?

MR KIRBY: I don’t. Best I got, best information I got, is that he was most likely referring to one yesterday in this governorate, but it could just be an honest mistake.

QUESTION: If we could – if we can nail that down with certainty what he was talking about —

MR KIRBY: I’ll do the best I can, Matt.

This goes on for a while. But there was no hospital attack in Rif Dimashq nor in Aleppo. Later on DoS spokesman Kirby basically admits that Kerry lied: "I can’t corroborate that."

It also turns out that Kerry has no evidence for any war crimes and no plausible way to initiate any official international procedure about such. And for what? To bully Russia? Fat chance, that would be a hopeless endeavor and Kerry should know that.

Kerry is desperate. He completely lost the plot on Syria. Russia is in the lead and will do whatever needs to be done. The Obama administration has, apart from starting a World War, no longer any way to significantly influence that.

Kerry is only one tool of the Obama administration. Later that day the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, made other accusations against Russia:

The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations. The recent disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks and by the Guccifer 2.0 online persona are consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts. These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process. Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized these activities.

Translation: "WE DO NOT KNOW at all ("we are confident", "we believe", "directed") who did these hacks and WE DO NOT HAVE the slightest evidence ("consistent with","based on the scope and sensitivity") that Russia is involved, so let me throw some chaff and try to bamboozle you all."

The former British ambassador Craig Murray calls it a blatant neocon lie. It was obviously the DNC that manipulated the U.S. election by, contrary to its mandate, promoting Clinton over Sanders. The hackers only proved that. It is also easy to see why these accusations are made now. Murray:

That the Obama administration has made a formal accusation of Russia based on no evidence is, on one level, astonishing. But it is motivated by desperation. WikiLeaks have already announced that they have a huge cache of other material relating to Hillary’s shenanigans. The White House is simply seeking to discredit it in advance by a completely false association with Russian intelligence.

The Obama administration is losing it. On Syria as well as on the election it can no longer assert its will. Trump, despite all dirty boy's club talk he may do, has a significant chance to catch the presidency. He (-44%) and Clinton (-41%) are more disliked by the U.S electorate, than Putin (-38%). Any solution in Syria will be more in Russia's than the Washington's favor.

Such desperation can be dangerous. Kerry is gasping at straws when he lies about Russia. The president and his colleagues at the Pentagon and the CIA have more kinetic means to express themselves. Could they order up something really stupid?

Comments

Actually, NYT has somewhat oblique reference, nothing feisty like “no blank checks”. But Gulfies pay billions for the “cooperation”, and it is very interesting what is the form of the “already reduced cooperation”. There was a talk about refueling and even more germane, “targeting support”.

No response militarily from Yemen so far to that latest Saudi outrage, but they have said today another release NO negotiations with UN!
What would be the point? Useless, corrupt, not interested in ‘investigating’ or ‘negotiating impartially, nor at all.
Like this out today, another example they see of the utter scum running & directing nearly every big name agency everywhere today:

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas described as “pointless and useless” an ongoing visit by an International Criminal Court (ICC) delegation to the occupied Palestinian territories because the legal experts will not be visiting the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip.
The ICC team arrived in the Palestinian territories on Wednesday and will depart on October 10, presstv reported.

Ukrainian 737 deliberately flew over a warzone SYRIA
Flight UF781 of the Ukrainian Mediterranean Airlines took a long hook over Syria instead of flying through Israel airspace on its way to Amman, Jordan. With all the tension over the Syrian airspace, logical questions arise. What is Ukrainian hoping for? Who will be blames if this airplane is shot down over Syria?

Interesting second look at that incident offshore Yemen a week ago.
Perhaps this was all it took, not those file footage missile launches we saw that were made out to be long-range Yemen backyard bottle rockets.
Remember these ships are self-contained, meaning they have acres of all kinds of vehicles driven onboard, including loaded fuel bowsers. u can see that on utube.
So, how far out to sea in that strait was that TSV-1X in miles was it when hit?
The tell is the W in TOW–if this is a true old-style TOW, where it has a bobbin/reel of real wire or fiber optic that unspools to target, then range is about 2 miles max.
But newer generation ‘TOW’ are wireless, but still called that by name.

9-11 will never be forgotten, and no matter the real perps, whoever they were, the Saudis would be the fall guy in a heartbeat if so selected by the chosen. The Saudis should have known better than to lie down with rabid dogs.
And it would take 5 minutes for the MSM to gin up a case for it.
They are at our mercy, and it must burn them up.

Can a World War still be avoided?, by Thierry Meyssan

Text

[..] After the destruction of the pride of the Emirati Navy on 1 October, the armies of the Gulf petro-dictatorships are hesitating to continue the war with the Syrian Arab Republic on their own. It is clear to everyone that the ground-sea missile which destroyed the wave-piercing catamaran is an extremely sophisticated weapon, the like of which has never yet been seen on any battlefield. It was not fired by the Houthis, nor by the partisans of ex-President Saleh, who do not possess weapons of this order, but by Russia, which has been secretly present in Yemen since the summer.
The idea of a coordination of jihadists with their local allies alone, without the intervention of the United States, is all the more difficult to imagine since the rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Qatar has consistently sabotaged the previous stages of the war.
Washington is therefore seriously considering the only remaining option – direct military confrontation.
The United States have solicited the 64 States and the 3 international institutions which have joined their so-called anti-Daesh Coalition in order to launch an attack against Damascus. In practise, only Canada, France, Holland and the United Kingdom are present. The idea is to fire cruise missiles on Damascus and Lattakia, and to bomb the Syrian Arab Army. This project was announced to members of NATO during the Atlantic Council of 27 September. It was supported by Senator John McCain in the Wall Street Journal.
This operation implies the reorganisation of the on-going preparations for the liberation of Mosul in Iraq, currently occupied par Daesh. Everyone already knows that the real objective of this Coalition is not as announced, but is directed at changing the occupant in Mosul. It is not aimed at putting genuine Iraqi representatives in power, nor its historical inhabitants, but only Sunni Iraqis, in order to create a «Sunnistan». The Coalition has not bombed Daesh, but did not hesitate to annihilate – «by accident» – a militia composed of Shia volunteers who had come, unlike the Coalition, to deliver the city from obscurantism. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave the game away by declaring to the newspaper Sabah that once Mosul was liberated, the city would belong to its inhabitants, «… and only Sunni Arabs, Turkmen and Sunni Kurds can stay». In other words, the Coalition proposes to finish the job that Washington had handed to Daesh. Its true objective is to endorse the ethnic cleansing practised by the jihadists, notably the expulsion or the massacre of Christians and Yazidi Kurds, in order to create a religiously homogeneous state. Just as we have already announced several times, Daesh will have to migrate from Mosul to al-Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, the same way that they evacuated Jarabulus faced with the Turkish army, without putting up a fight.
Reacting to the project for the bombing of the Syrian Arab Republic, Russia revealed the installation in Syria of air defence batteries supplied with S-300 and S-400 missiles. According to Russian experts, these weapons are not only capable of destroying any aircraft in flight, including stealth aircraft, but also cruise missiles. Since this situation has never occurred on the battle-field, nobody knows whether or not the statement is true. But over the centuries, the Russians have never lied about the performance of their weaponry.
This announcement raised a huge stir in Israël, since their experts are now persuaded that it was Russian weapons that shot down one of their aircraft and damaged another when Tsahal violated the cessation of hostilities on 13 September, during Aïd. The Israëli chief of staff declared that Israël had lost airborne dominance both in Syria and in Lebanon.
The United States responded by ordering the jihadists to bomb the Russian embassy in Damascus. Russia announced the arrival in the Mediterranean of three new warships, while its aircraft carrier – expected in July – was already en route.
Aware of the risk of a nuclear war, France sent its Minister for Foreign Affairs to Moscow, who presented a project for a resolution concerning Aleppo, which he intends to register with the Security Council. This might be a way for the West to extricate itself from the confrontation without losing face. As I have not yet read the document, I can not comment on this project. However, the French Press is currently overflowing with articles about the crisis of Aleppo, all based on false ideas. Currently, the Western part of the city houses between 1.4 and 1.5 million inhabitants who are partisans of the Republic, and the Eastern part houses between 25,000 and 30,000 people. The ratio therefore concerns a population which is between 46 and 50 times greater, and not equal, as it has been suggested. It was the jihadists who shot the inhabitants of East Aleppo when they attempted to flee during the Aïd cease-fire. It was they who burned the humanitarian convoy of the Syrian Red Crescent, destined for the civilian populations they were holding hostage in Aleppo. After having offered the possibility for all residents of East Aleppo, whether civilians or combatants, Syrian or foreigners, to leave the city during Aïd, the Syrian army and its Lebanese, Russian and Iranian allies launched an operation against the jihadists at the risk of also killing the civilians whom the jihadists were holding as hostages. This was done in application of Resolution 2249 of 20 November 2015, which asks UNO members to «… put an end to the acts of terrorism committed in particular by the EIIL, also known as Daesh, as well as by the al-Nusra Front and all other individuals, groups, businesses and entities associated with Al-Qaida ». L’épreuve de force, par Thierry Meyssan

For Thierry Meyssan, the Syrian conflict can escalate at any moment in World War II. The US is no longer able to meet their commitments, as seen with the agreement of Eid, but do not want abandoning its objective (preventing the development of China and Russia to maintain a unipolar world order). Moscow and Beijing, meanwhile, believe to be now in a strong position. We are approaching the key moment to overthrow the world order or nuclear war.
Moscow has never believed in the sincerity of Washington. However, since June 30, 2012, it has continued to chain agreements ever held. He does not consider the United States as the master of the world, but as a declining empire. Aware of the enormous military power of the Pentagon, including nuclear, it means gently bring Washington to the cemetery, avoiding it bristled and triggers World War.
Not leading to the United States not to sign the cessation of hostilities of the Eid in Syria, Russia intended to limit the options a bit more of his “partner”. In fact, despite its soothing declarations, Washington has not been able to separate any “moderate” “extremists”. However, the agreement provided that moderate appointed by John Kerry would be integrated into control device against the jihadists and would be included in the national unity government of President Bashar Assad [1]. Washington no longer only two options: either to withdraw from the Syrian conflict, or get in front war against Russia, globally.

A twist or complication to that much heralded (months) attack on Mosul, is that UNSC motion put out there by Iraq demanding Turkey leave all of northern Iraq, & now saying they won’t start the offensive while Turkey is there proclaiming to ‘help’ them!

@109 PP
That’s an old post, isn’t it? The events anticipate in the last paragraph have unfolded with Russia’s veto and China’a abstention on France’s proposal for the grounding of Syrian and Russian aircraft in Syria.
A link would have been sufficient.

Mentioned 2night on Syrper site (ziad fadel); has twitter link there.
massive secondary explosions see going on for about 20 sec after the hit, so I think the Sauds are lying saying it missed.
Yemeni Army & The Houthies Launch a Ballistic missile and Hit King Fahd Airbase, Taif city, Saudi Arabia.
The Yemeni army and the Houthis have launched a ballistic missile (Volcano 2) with a range of over 800 km. The missile can be seen impacting the centre of the base(Taif city south east of Mecca), most likely armament storage. The Saudis have claimed the missile missed
