Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

How Clinton And Her Shallow-Brained Media Do Trump’s Bidding

Clinton's negative campaign against Trump, and the media leashed to her messages, are doing Trump a huge favor. Unless they can break away from their limited framework, stop their unintended advertising for Trump's campaign, they will propel him to victory.

Here is an example: Networks on Trump: A ‘Dark Speech’ From a ‘Vengeful’ ‘Demagogue’ – Newsbuster

The three networks on Thursday night immediately derided Donald Trump’s “dark speech” as one coming from a “vengeful” “demagogue.”

The "dark speech" theme was obviously a canned response by the Clinton campaign. Her independent media (not) dutifully repeated it over and over. But that negative "dark speech" theme, supposed to condemn Trump, only makes his point.

(Isn't it amazing how Putin can compel all U.S. media to parrot the very same message?)

Trump may well have painted a negative, "dark" picture of the state of the union. But the U.S. IS "dark" for many of Trump's core followers as well as for many swing voters. Real wages are stagnant. While new unemployment numbers seem to go down, labor partition rates are very low and sinking. Many people who would like to have a job have given up looking for one. The former big industrial areas have been shrinking for decades. The foreign policy of the U.S. is one of wars and terrorism with no positive message at home or abroad.

The Clinton campaign gurus and their media surrogates took up the "dark" scheme to set Trump into a negative light. But Trump followers agree with the description. The Clinton message confirms their believes. The people agree with Trump's "dark" diagnosis. Picking up on that and reinforcing it only reinforces his message.

When Trump describes the world as "dark", he solely does so to sell THE LIGHT – himself:

"Your world is dark. Let me enlighten it. I am the only one who can do it."

Reinforcing the "dark" scheme is pushing Trump's selling point.

In June the Clinton campaign spent about $50 million on TV ads. Trump did not even spent a tenths of that and has better polling results than before. He has pulled nearly even to Clinton. Trump raises much less money than Clinton. He simply does not need as much as she does. He can spend more time on real campaigning than Clinton who must hurry from one fund raiser to the next one. Meanwhile Clinton's negative campaigning against Trump reinforces his message.

That negative campaigning also does nothing to bring new voter for Clinton. People who like Trump will not switch to Clinton. People who do not like him will stay home or vote for a third party. Clinton fails to project an alternative to the usual beltway monotony. A same-as-ever program for an electorate that demands changes. Enthusiasm and voter turnout will decide the campaign. Michael Moore correctly anticipates that Clinton fails on both. Vicious attacks on Trump have no positive message and do not change that.

The current "Trump is like Putin" and "Putin wants Trump to win" campaigns misunderstand how Trump and his supporters think. They see Putin as a nationalist leader who defends the interests of his country. Someone straight with whom one can do business. Most Trump supporters see Putin as a positive example of a leader. A thug, maybe but one who gets things done.  Clinton's Washington DC circus completely fails to recognize that.

Fred Hiatt's Funny Pages©, aka the Washington Post Opinion pages, have for months run one anti-Trump piece after the other. This is just one regular day:

source: Gregory Djerejian

The effect is essentially a marketing campaign FOR Trump. Not one day passes without two or three pieces with his name in big letters above it – branding that does not cost him a penny.

When one of Trum'ps children recently plagiarized parts of her convention speech, a New York Times journalist tweeted:

9:36 AM – 20 Jul 2016 – Binyamin Appelbaum @BCAppelbaum

1. Deny everything.
2. Blame Hillary Clinton.
3. Blame My Little Pony.
4. Deny everything.
5. Confess & apologize.

He doesn't get it. That is not the level on which the Trump campaign works. Here is the recipe. The journos' shallow-brained reaction is a main ingredient of it:

10:05 AM – 20 Jul 2016 – Moon of Alabama @MoonofA

A. Create "outrage"
B. Get huge media cov for 0 cents
C. Increase vote share
D. Laugh at stupid journos
E. Repeat

It works every time. Slip in a bit of plagiarizing and occupy the headlines. Hold a "dark" speech and let the Clinton campaign and her independent media make your point over and over again. Sell yourself as the solution to all the negatives they emphasize.

Whatever one might think of Trump – he IS a marketing genius. He knows exactly how the media tick and he makes them work for him without paying a penny.

The same encrusted, narrow and hardened view of omnidirectional belligerence which drives U.S. foreign policy is visible in the way Clinton and her media run the campaign. There is no room for diverging from the compulsory norm.

Trump breaks those structures and thrives. He uses the limits of mainstream framing against it. Like him or not, I don't, there is a genius in that.

@97 jr. ‘IMO voting for a third-party with a paper ballot is preferable to spoiling the ballot.’
Of course. How on earth is anyone going to write-in their candidate’s name on their ballot without having a paper ballot in hand?
I’m not advocating ‘spoiling’ ballots. Why spoil your ballot? When you can use it to vote for someone you actually want to hold the office instead?
I point out that the people who tally the ballots often don’t tally write-ins. And if they do, they often tally only those officially approved as ‘write-in’ candidates – people who’ve registered with the ‘authorities’ beforehand, who’ve jumped through whatever hoops and paid whatever fees are required to get an approved ‘write-in berth’ on the ballot. All others are classified by the counters as ‘spoiled’. They are ‘spoiled’ by the ‘authorities’, not by the voters.
That’s in the states where it isn’t ‘illegal’ to write-in your choice on your ballot. Writing in your candidate’s name on your ballot is illegal in Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota.
Don’t worry, if the total of 3rd party / write-in / ‘spoiled ballots’ exceeds – even distantly approaches – the totals given to the animal crackers you’ll hear about it.
What was the 3rd party / write-in / ‘spoiled’ in 2012?
    Obama + Romney + Other
    62156980 + 58805060 + 1945906 = 122907946
    Other/Total =
    1945906/122907946 = 0.15 = 1.5%
That’s what we’re used to, if we pay attention at all.
Believe me, if ‘Other’ approaches the totals of the animal crackers everyone on earth is going to know it.

The “Green Party” is just as corrupt as the others. To some extent they have this “preference voting” (essentially IRV) in Australia, and it enforces a rigid two-party monopoly. “Preference voting” (essentially IRV) is supported by massive billion dollar think tanks and academic flunkies with special stipends.
As I always say, begin protesting the elections (not the silly “parties”) and demand hedge strategy simple score voting with hand counted paper ballots.

A horrible fraud was perpetrated on Bernie Sanders supporters last night, worse than the betrayal at the hands of their faithless leader. Hundreds of hopeful Papa Bernie lovers were seen wearing fake Peter Pan hats that they believed were real Robin Hood hats.
You could see the realization dawn on these poor saps on the convention floor as tears filled their eyes and Papa Bernie morphed into Captain Hook before swallowing the souls of their unborn children in his syphilitic maw.
Great theater, but a poor ritual sacrifice. Real blood must flow like a river and wash it all away. Let it flow

After hearing Bernie tell them that they must vote for Hell Harpy, after Bernie himself knows he was “cheated” by the Hell Harpy Machine…
If they cannot see now that Bernie was in on the act to defraud them the whole time, will they still vote for the Hell Harpy?
Was Michael’s blue dress to remind them of Monica Lewinski?
I don’t see how that was helpful.

“I would say all Republican foreign policy professionals are anti-Trump,” leading neoconservative Robert Kagan told a group gathered around him, groupie-style, at a “foreign policy professionals for Hillary” fundraiser I attended last week. “I would say that a majority of people in my circle will vote for Hillary.”
As the co-founder of the neoconservative think tank Project for the New American Century, Kagan played a leading role in pushing for America’s unilateral invasion of Iraq, and insisted for years afterwards that it had turned out great.
Despite the catastrophic effects of that war, Kagan insisted at last week’s fundraiser that U.S. foreign policy over the last 25 years has been “an extraordinary success.”

Before Trump was a candidate I thought (and posted here) that the Repubs. could *easily* win the next election.
Yet, they seemed incapable of ‘reforming’ the Party, or changing directions. I pointed out they were aware of the ‘problem’ with ‘minorities’ (particularly Latinos, in the slice-dice-approach) and quoted iirc one proposal from a study group on this issue, lame.
Past precise words I don’t recall — they were along the lines of, > move libertarian (Ron Paul..), > move center economically (that sounds totally contradictory but can be made to work), > embrace the gay at arms length (freedom), > pretend to loose the racist xtreme-right and religionists, though they can be made to stick anyway. Basically, blast away some of the Dem-Repub. oppo and concentrate on Repub. values which means working out what they are! (Problem..)
That didn’t happen and now we see that Trump, one man, did it in a very different way – compare my ‘should have been done’, nothing special, standard pol comments, dopey perhaps, with what he did. Plus, a Libertarian candidate is now present (as Trump is more economically ‘left’ in part of his discourse.)
Heh, the Dems under Killary are totally beyond any such reasoning, and their stance is purely in-group protectionist. They holler, sub rosa, to the in-crowd, we will protect your money, your positions, the future HUGE profits to come to OUR members of the tribe (finance, drug trade, arms, med Corps, pol positions..), thru trickle down from our control (yeah, *that* trickle down does work) and if you don’t support you lose.
Non-political and criminal enterprise act this way. Thru paranoia (Trump is evil, green-clawed like Saddam..), our opponents deserve nothing but media aka literal death, hating and shaming, threats, etc. we defend our ‘righteous, deserved’ position, because we control financial circuits (Wall street..not a secure ally at all, can turn on a trillion dimes), control foreign policy (see the endless hyping of Killary’s ‘experience’, aka solid experience with extortion, corrupt exchanges, no one else can take her place or do better..), other. The Dems cannot change direction, if they got this far it was thru these tactics, there is no alternative, no Plan B. In fact losing the election is less dire than burning out. Better to keep a smaller ‘core’ to ‘fight on.’ (See the Mafia.)
Banger at 28 offers another level of analysis. To say my post is only one perspective from one angle.

It may not be a post-RNC bounce, but political analyst and statistician Nate Silver’s latest forecast of the presidential election shows Donald Trump leading Hillary Clinton with a shocking 15 percentage point-greater chance of winning if the general election were held today.

After a parade of D-list celebrities and conservative icons yelled that the nation had been overrun by criminals in the cities and murderous undocumented immigrants in border towns, the Republican party’s presidential nominee’s current likelihood of winning stands at 57.5 percent, compared with Clinton’s 42.5 percent.

FiveThirtyEight’s “now-cast,” Silver’s model, considers more than just polling in its forecast and currently predicts the popular vote going 45.4 percent to Trump vs. 45.1 percent to Clinton, with the Electoral College giving Trump 285 votes and Clinton 252.6. This is the first time the “now-cast” forecast has been projected Trump to win.

Silver, who correctly forecast both the 2008 and 2012, has Trump winning in the swing states of Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire:

This is an easy way to identify and sort the illegitimate media puppets from the actual journalists. I don’t give investment advice.
Junior ‘miners’ (sic) own no equipment, have no inventory or even raw ore, and claim they hold ‘options’ on ‘proven reserves’, that just need a little more ‘drilling’ until the last sucker buys in. Read the torrid history of Vancouver Stock Market swindles.
The major miners are all over-sold, you’re ‘betting on the come’, which any seasoned gambler will tell you is the quickest way to lose your last life savings, outside of playing currencies or commodities futures. Lost forever.
ZeroHedge has an interesting note on GLD/SLV fiat paper fraud and high CEO CFO turnover in the funds over whether they really hold any physical gold, or just hedged COMEX options to purchase…along with estimated 33x others who ‘hold options’ in the same oversubscribed ounces. There is also a huge drawdown in COMEX holdings, which suggests the real oversubscription is more like 75x.
I know from personal experience that many of physical PMs are frauds, fraudulently graded, fraudulently represented, with a current 7% to astounding 35% buy-sell spread. When we chat with China, we see tungsten dealer with round disc ‘test weights’ in every global coin dimension, the markets are filled with fake, single-struck, tungsten-core coins and bullion counterfeits. That’s why AU, NZ and CA mint coins with holograms, Chinese counterfeits are so good.
Same goes for all grades of US paper currency, fakes are virtually indistinguishable without lights and testtrips.
So ask yourself, as the US$ undergoes repricing against JCB Yen appreciation and CCB Yuan depreciation, what will happen to the PM price? More importantly, what happens to the fungibility of PMs once GLD/SLV is shown as a Ponzi, and COMEX a hypersubscribed fraud, and the counterfeit pawn shops and coin dealers are burned out and gone?
Are you going to meet your E-Bay buyer in some Costco parking lot with an envelope full of counterfeit $100s and a counterfeit coin, then shoot it out, drug cartel style?
Can you imagine trading $30,000 weight with a stranger?
“Uh, hi, my name’s Bob. I have the coins somewhere near here, do you have my money?”
“We can’t do this deal here, meet me in the park tonight.”
You want to know what will happen in the New Wild West?
It’s obvious, Red Donald or Blue Hillary, *19th cousins of the same Royal Vampire bloodline*, are preparing US for War in Crimea in 2017 to jack the market and boost the oil cartels, then bring engineered Wall Street crash of 2018, immediately as the market tops, continuing the Anti-Christ Vampire 1000-Year Putsch:

Here in S.E. Asia (and Asia in general) gold is the only store of value universally recognised. Silver less so, but still better than paper.
Paper money (fiat currency) only has value in stable times when most of us are in social/societal agreement; during serious turmoil and collapse of the financial systems, paper money will suffice as toilet paper and starting fires; but far more valuable as toilet paper, IMO.
I’m not advocating gold as the only store of value, but having some can’t hurt.

@142 At the moment Asians seem to be putting their money into North American real estate but GLD is starting to move.
I was wondering how Cho plans on surviving the ‘Crash of 2018’.

@144 dh ‘how to survive the ‘Crash of 2018”
Of 2016, 2017, 2018, … whenever. The secret is to get out of money, to the extent that you can. We’re all going to hurt to the extent that we require money, so reduce dependency to the absolute minimum, that seems to me the best ‘hedge’. Easier for the old and young to accomplish. More difficult for the rat-race years between.

Unfortunately airlines, grocery stores, banks and credit card companies even 711s insist on money. They aren’t much interested in other economic theories. So practical suggestions only please. No Walden Pond.

Sublime proof that what goes around comes around – regime change methods in the US:

” If there’s voter fraud, this election will be illegitimate, the election of the winner will be illegitimate, we will have a constitutional crisis, widespread civil disobedience, and the government will no longer be the government.’”
“If you can’t have an honest election, nothing else counts,” he continued. “I think he’s gotta put them on notice that their inauguration will be a rhetorical, and when I mean civil disobedience, not violence, but it will be a bloodbath. The government will be shut down if they attempt to steal this and swear Hillary in. No, we will not stand for it. We will not stand for it.”

Especially 7/11s. And so does the local dalad … ตลาด … but on less of it. Airlines, grocery stores, banks and credit cards … well, I still have a bank account, but that’s been the extent of my dependency over the past decade or so. There’s still a class of people who’ve just kept on, I’m just not one of them. You were asking about survival, I guess that was a rhetorical flourish? Previously you were talking about ‘investing’ in gold, of increase, talking about keeping up, of continuing living in a way to which you’ve become accustomed. That latter may get trickier for all of us. Good luck, though. I have no advice for you there.
Walden Pond. I’ve been there. Now lies in the monied belts circling Boston. Haven’t read it in years. Don’t know that I’ve ever actually finished it. Are there devotees of Thoreau in England, or in Australia, if I mistook your Australian ‘accent’ for a British one? Does Thoreau have great currency beyond the USA? Does he still have currency in the USA? He did strike me as having a greater enthusiasm for theory and theater than for just walking the walk. The ladies treat him kindly. No doubt they furnished him with tea. People still smile at me when I smile at them. A good friend furnished me with some fine tea from Doi Mae Salong. She may even have picked it. It’s lasted months. I’m drinking some right now. Life’s sweet indeed.
