An analysis of America’s Africa policy shows that it is premised on an axis of three strategic interests: securing minerals, off-setting Chinese economic and political influence, and moving its African Command (AFRICOM) from Stuttgart in Germany to the continent.

Just read some horrible news. Journalist Maya Naser who I followed on Twitter after he was mentioned on this blog a few times, has been killed in Syria. Press TV reports that he was killed by a Sniper while compiling a video report on two explosions in Damascus this morning though recently he had been spending most of his time reporting from Aleppo.
I’m devastated.

Meanwhile ppl are going about their bizness and the Chinese are investing massively (as you know) all over Africa.
The US counting on military dominance is a sign of weakness, because it plays to its one and only strength. A ‘control’ function cannot be achieved – except very locally in one or another situation…
Taking for granted, say, that the W seeks only to subjugate and exploit, loot, make a profit, in Africa, the US is shooting itself in the foot. What happened to soft power, commerce, negotiation, bi-lateral deals and so on? Such short-sightedness is astonishing, a ruinous headlong run to disaster.

Problem with criticising all this is that I get a feeling the Obama administration with the Muslim Brotherhood actually tried to get out of this vicious circle of Islamist extremist co-dependency with Western military industry within the constraints of having to win elections and spectacularly failed in Benghazi.

More importantly we must purchase gas to mow and trim our lawn. Keeping up appearances is more important here than anything else. A manicured lawn is a vane symbol, but it is also a legal requirement that is important for us. We are terrified of talking to the wrong person at the wrong time about the wrong things. Even though we are law-abiding citizens, we could easily become victims of more oppression.
