Real Journalism?

Real journalism? When Julian Assange interviews Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah on Russia Today?

@ Limited Hangout

As to Illuminati? Whatever one calls it- The Elite, Bilderberg VIPs etc there is a group of ruling class honchos that are arbiters of world policy.

I agree. In fact you mentioning Bilderberg in this thread is very interesting. Why? Because I remember Wikileaks themselves listing the minutes of Bilderberg meetings as one of the leaks they most want to get hold of.
Source Wikileaks “Our Most Wanted Leaks”: http://mirror.wikileaks.info/wiki/Draft_The_Most_Wanted_Leaks_of_2009/
I don’t disagree with most of your views. However I do disagree with the distrusting of people who don’t 100% follow your logic. It is the same reason that we here in Ireland have 5 different left-wing parties and 1 right-wing party, because ideological rigidity keeps dividing people and so we are left with the joke of having a Socialist Party AND a Socialist Workers Party both sworn rivals of each other. Assange is probably alot more on your side than you know and deserves better than to be just dismissed as a “Illuminati agent”.
Also you quote Salon.com? Who are definately gatekeepers of the left and would never dare publish 1 word against the 9/11 narrative.

Then go elsewhere- Assange’s show, Fox News, Dem Now.. help yourself, the distractions are legion.

telling b, on his blog, to go “elsewhere”? Fox news? please …
I agree with Noirette’s doubts, but also with Debs is dead, Colm O’Toole and others’ appeal against divisive and sectarian attitudes
the fact that JA gave space to Nasrallah, the most eloquent political leader of the Resistance today in the Middle East, the leader that beat Israel’s army in a real war, must be given its proper weight in judging JA’s actual or potential role in the “opposition”
overall I think it’s an interesting thread, as Hannah K. O’Luthon said, but references to the Illuminati and to the Noah’s Arc Grand Unified Theory weren’t “up to standard”

@ Limited Hangout
Agree with Claudio. I take it your new here, but B runs this site, so telling him to go elsewhere probably not a wise move 😀
On the cables you mention. One rule that generally serves me well is to take Israels public position and assume the reality is the opposite. Israel is always either lying or to stupid in their analysis of the Middle East to be right. The Wikileaks cables served alot of purposes.
It painted Ben Ali in a bad light 4 months before he was forced from office in Tunisia in the first Arab Spring. It showed Mubarack was selling Natural Gas to Israel at a 30% discount 5 months before he was forced from office. It showed King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia was secretly siding with the Israeli’s against another Muslim nation (Iran, with his “cut the head off the snake” comment). It damaged the credibility of the Special Tribuneral in Lebanon. It harmed the US occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. And it allowed the Red Cross to get a definitive list of all prisoners held in Guantanamo (something that they hadn’t achieved previously). That is just off the top of my head.
My final comment on the matter is that no one can truly know Julian Assange’s motives. But I’d prefer to have him out there exposing stuff than not out there. The only “evidence” you provide is Netanyahu’s statements and a story from the right-wing Daily Telegraph about an Embassy party he attended as a guest of an MP who thought it’d be funny to bring him.
So maybe do some research, think for yourself, and don’t just take what Netanyahu says at face value.

I have presented more than enough evidence on this thread- outside of the Israeli articles in the last post to make my point. Believe what you will. Even Assange’s colleagues have admitted that Soros helped them with their startup. Assange is no more an independent whistleblower than the Arab Springs are spontaneous, non-US backed uprisings. And to discount the Israelis words in a blanket statement like you do-esp when it verifies reality- is stupidity. Each item needs be looked at case by case, whether it is Sharon, Saddam, Bush Sr, Jr, and even Kissinger.
Read Carroll Quigley Tragedy and Hope. Then read the books in the bibliography. After you have? We’ll discuss.

might has never made right… not for long.
but that’s the basic likud/AEI/PNAC/neocon position.
they certainly know better, most of them.
so what’s their angle, if they’re supporting a philosophy that they know is unsustainable?
they’re looters…
…except for the ones who’ve willingly crippled their minds with belief in religious or supremacist fairy tales.
and of course, for some of them, their success at looting proves their racial superiority… to them, at least.

I am delighted Robert Anton Wilson was mentioned.
also, and this is totally off topic, I’d like to mention that the poet Jack Spicer and the science fiction writer, Philip K. Dick, once shared an apartment together.
chapel perilous, indeed.

apparently psychopaths have always become leaders, and now their power is amplified by technology.
we’ve either got to devise a better method of selecting leadership, or we’re gonna exterminate ourselves.
it’s a matter of education, but our “educations” are calculated make us better able to serve our masters…
maybe we could start teaching history that included some truth… for instance, history classes could spell out how israel came to dominate america…
history classes could include history of oil, and how america became addicted to oil, and how oil wells, oil fields, and global oil production eventually peak or will peak.
history classes could show the rise of greenhouse gases, maybe could even mention that burning one gallon of gasoline produces about 19 pounds of co2, although that would be more appropriate in a science or chemistry class.
history could spell out the AEI’s association with exxon, exxon being most likely to have an appreciation of the effects of peak oil, and the timing of the arrival of peak oil.
psychology classes could teach kids about motivation and motives, and how peak oil became a motive for global wars to control oil.
psychology classes could also explain how israel and jews in general instilled guilt about the holocaust in western civilization to exempt themselves from criticism, and exploited that exemption to gain control of the west.
there’s a chance, with proper education, that we could, for apparently the first time in the history of western civilization, select leaders that arent psychopaths.
it’s a long shot.

I believe none of limited hangout’s presumptions; which fly in the face of logic. Because his case is nothing but a paranoid cocktail and a busy example of psyops.. It is character assassination wrapped in a clever construct. The destructive political effect, for which it has aimed, is a very primal kind of demoralization; and its ultimate goal is to discredit the source (Assange); and by breaking the implicit bond of trust and admiration people have for him, it can become effective as a way to mayhem, as a means to cripple wikileaks, a means to destroy it, and even work toward weakening the impact of the intelligence material it is responsible for releasing.
And this would be precisely the modus operandi and blueprint that was outlined by the Pentagon when it stated publicly how it intended to destroy Assange and wikileaks. The “package ” presented by these insidious posts is an ingenious psychological weapon, whose poisonous potency never seems diminished, no matter how many times it is deployed.
The logic against such weak theory of conspiracy, that was presented against Assange here, continues to mount up. The prosecutorial resources of Obama’s Justice Department represent both huge outlays of money and prestige–with the prestige at stake being more important than the dollars. Team Obama has signaled its preference to bring Assange to heel under the Espionage Act of 1917, because of the severe penalties attached to that draconian law. This is the same harsh measure brought out against the whistleblower, Thomas Drake, in a recent prosecution. In consideration of a more realistic blueprint of conspiracy, I would think the joining of hands the American and Israeli right wings would be a better candidate for conspiracy, the mutual admiration of Sweden’s Prime Minister and neocon operative Karl Rove, for instance.
In contrast, the poisoned pen cries out that there’s signs of conspiracy because so few cables have turned up, in Assange’s most recent batch, that can embarrass Israel; and yet there is really nothing about this from which we can draw a conclusion, one way or another. And the the fact that Prime Minister Netanyahu opportunistically seized on this dearth of cables as a ready means to argue for the alleged innocence of Israel, is probably only evidence of his political alertness, in order to to gain some diplomatic advantage.
I would argue that the occult measures used to terminate wikileaks’ financial support, by putting the squeeze on Visa, Mastercard, and Paypal–or even the black magic that compelled SWIFT to terminate Iran’s place in the electronic banking matrix–are examples of a much more reliable, and imperial, index of conspiracy.

Posted by: Copeland | Apr 20 2012 6:23 utc | 116

all that’s very nice, copeland…
but those of us who were hoping that some of israel’s sins would come to light and we’d be able to rid ourselves of the israeli scourge have been disappointed.
assange is a victim of joni mitchell’s “star maker machinery“, and that’s about his only claim to fame.
you guys cant make up your minds… you excuse the lack of assange’s weight because he’s only got access to confidential cables.
then, you turn around and say he’s made all these great revelations.
it’s one or the other, it cant be both.

Posted by: retreatingbladestall | Apr 20 2012 6:38 utc | 117

i guess it could be that assange has fooled me… or maybe my impatience has got the best of me.
assange might have a more sophisitcated appreciation of how it works… an appreciation of his limits.
it’s like turning an oil tanker around, only worse… it takes years… except in the soviet union which disintegrated overnight.
then he runs for senator of australia, and australia is a toady of the israeli american empire…
he must have some pretty long-range plans.

Posted by: retreatingbladestall | Apr 20 2012 7:17 utc | 118

Maybe Assange’s courage will inspire others. He doesn’t have to make a touchdown or kick the winning goal. The confidential cables are what they are; and they surely won’t be the last disclosures wikileaks will make. And for the record, you can’t so easily separate Israeli sins from American sins. But I was encouraged today to learn that the sick Obama administration could not threaten or browbeat the editor of the LA Times into self-censorship; and photos of some American soldiers striking a pose with the corpses of some of their Afghani victims were published despite White House objections.
So what then, does Assange’s “weight” refer to?–is it the impression he makes? I’d say he did a pretty good job in the Nasrallah interview. I’d say this journalist is not satisfied to rest on his laurels. But at the same time, we can’t expect him to do all the work; the work we should be doing.

Posted by: Copeland | Apr 20 2012 7:32 utc | 119

in terms of geopolitics, assange’s effort have been meaningless.
in the best of all possible worlds, the nasrallah interview could be a warning to israel… “civilize yourself or perish.”
it could be a symptom that israel’s usefulness is over, it could be a symptom that people are starting to realize what a bad idea israel was in the first place.
meanwhile, the neocon project marches on, and, so far as i can tell, assange has done nothing to slow it down.

Posted by: retreatingbladestall | Apr 20 2012 7:42 utc | 120

we need a great big lever to pry ourselves away from israel.
assange has not come close to providing that lever.

Posted by: retreatingbladestall | Apr 20 2012 7:48 utc | 121

everybody knows this shit.
everybody.
the debate is over.
now it’s just a matter of figuring out what to do and how to do it, and assange is irrelevant.

Posted by: retreatingbladestall | Apr 20 2012 7:54 utc | 122

When people stop feeling powerless; when they refuse to be ruled by fear; when they prefer to sacrifice rather than subscribe to another lie, or another absurdity–then the neocon and other evil projects begin to grind to a halt.
It’s important to remember what has been revealed by the diplomatic cables; it makes it harder to misrepresent the act of aggression as some kind of humanitarian impulse.

Posted by: Copeland | Apr 20 2012 7:54 utc | 123

like i said before, maybe assange has a more sophisiticated understanding than i do.
maybe not.
doesnt make much diffenence, seeing as how the empire will fail, the looters will get away with the loot, and jewishness will be persectuted, fulfilling their dismal expectations.
i’m tired of being chained to losers, and assange has done nothing to loosen my shains.

Posted by: retreatingbladestall | Apr 20 2012 8:07 utc | 124

it’s part o the “education” scheme, isnt it?
if jews are determined to be persecuted, they’ll do stuff that ensures they’ll be persecuted, wont they?
what could be simpler?
if people are educated about how jewishness works, maybe they’d be able to defend themselves.
then the history professor could take over, and explain how empires have failed because of their unshakeable belief in an obsolete philosophy.

somebody
*well, he must have gone rogue then denk.*
by pushing the r2p agenda ?
as per brian [29]
*assange interviews Nasrullah:
at about 9:45 Assange mentions HOMS and colvin…but also challenges
Nasrullah by invoking 100000 dead(if there are 100000 people
killed…when will Hezbollah say etc etc)….which interestingly is the figure
used for the dead in Libya ! Has Assange had his red line crossed with
100000 people killed in libya due to UNSC res 1973 allowing NATO to
support the insurgency there *

i’ve listed many facts in this n other threads to show that wiki is a psyop

i’d appreciate if u show me which of my arguments are *nutty* ?
* Assange isn’t CIA. The damage he has done to U.S. standing is
severe and real.*
firstly, the man with the biggest gun doesnt care much about his table
manner, *standing* be damned
fukus has been getting away with industrial killing spree for how long
now, three centuries ?
did the expose’ of fallujah etc cause any damage to fukus *standing* ?
not that i know of, fukusi is still strutting on the world stage wearing that
sheriff badge n dispensing *justice*
compared to fallujah etc, wiki’s most *damning expose’* looks like child’s
play, so i dont see how it could do any harm to the empire
in case anybody havent noticed, fukus killing innocents has become
such a routine that it’s probably considered *dog bites man* stuff,
meaning, NON news these days, nobody give a damn !!
bottom line, fukus is above the law
if wiki wants to buy more *street cred* , it could well afford to dish out a
dozen more *blockbuster stuff*,knowing full well that it wouldnt cause the
fukus juggernaut to miss a bit in its relentless march to world domination.
coz there’d be no outcry from the *international community*, even if
there’s, there’d be no diktat from the un n no summons from the icc
kangaroo court.
but wiki dont need no stinking street cred,
the whole world, including * savvy observers* like moafers, have already
bought into the scam hook line n sinker

Posted by: denk | Apr 20 2012 10:11 utc | 127

Despite the dearth of minimally objective reporting on Hezbollah, there are figures on the periphery of the U.S. intelligence apparatus who seem to have views similar to those that might be found here at MOA. One wonders when, if ever, those implementing U.S. foreign policy will take such views into account as anything more than trifling irritations to be discounted or ignored.

Very general:
It was a surefire bet that some hackers or computer types would break low-level security.
Actually, that more hasn’t happened earlier is somewhat surprising.
Because there are ways to do it anonymously, but then, the info appears, to the public, and the PTB as random, to be ignored, just noise.
So a figure, or figures, an vague organization, etc. is necessary.
The ppl doing it have to have a public face, an agenda, a platform, even if it is minimal. Therefore, Julian Assange.
The agenda has to be minimal and pointed – as is Julian’s. (It is only haplessly political and he will never make it in politics or only for a moment as a freaky figure..)
Revealing whatever if no one will see or listen is hopeless.
Being an isolated, whistleblower can do you harm.
Pirate parties (for internet freedom, free content, etc.) in the EU even have some seats, and are, in some places, gathering steam. I read that the EU may even refuse ACTA (no idea if true.)
So, to have success on just the one issue, one has to accept, or adhere to, deliberately or unconsciously, contemporary myths.
That *includes* that 9/11 was the work of Muslim terrorists, and the towers came down because of jet fuel (or whatever.)
Note that the likes of Chris Hedges and Naomi Klein also accept the official version of 9/11, or skip over it as best as they can. As does, btw, Chomsky.

Posted by: Noirette | Apr 20 2012 18:52 utc | 130

Being funded by George Soros and having the House of Rothschild set up a Julian Assange Defence Fund is hardly low level, nonentity hackers operating out of their basements or dorms.
These sponsors are the top tier at the apex of the global food chain. The blindness is stunning.

good stuff denk. the china stuff is priceless, esp as there is ZILCH about how Israel stole American tech and for at least 20yrs has been selling it for top shekel to ? CHINA.
Not such a fan of Tony Cartalucci- he’s another zionists stooge. He had a long screed that Alex Jones published on how jews and Israel are the ongoing victims of America’s frameups and get unfairly blamed. He has rewritten the same info a hundred times over- always fingering ‘them’- NGOs, corporations etc but never details who controls those entities.
Assange, DemNow, chmsky, Cockburn Bros, Zinn, Naomi Klein, rawstory and dozens of ‘alternatives’ like them deride 911 investigation of official story and deserve no attention. The slickest is Ron Paul, who only Rense seems to have been perceptive enough to catch. Today Jeff Rense was vindicated after Ron Paul endorsed Israel’s moving of capital to Jerusalem from TA.
The dealbreakers are simple and mightily effective: 1) Israel 2) 911 Separates the wheat from the chaff every time.

crazy inventor [139]
n who supply ammunitions to these rightwing nuts …wiki the coroborator !
acually i owe assange the messiah an apology
i am wrong to accuse wiki a psyop
he has been honest with us upfront,
from the outset his mission statement declared that
wiki is kinda like a *white hat* outfit doing the world a favor
ala the *anon* hacker group now mounting an all out attack on china.
he says the same in all his interviews with the likes of war street journal
he is out to target those *oppressive regimes*……… which i’m sure just happen to be on the empire’s official enemy list 😉
is it any wonder that he has been feted by times, forbes, economists ?
n runing for senate no less [sic]
as for philip agee, the cia agent who *turned rogue*
he was marginalised n had to flee to cuba to avoid assasination
the contrast is like day n night
what’s there to argue ?
assange never proclaim to be an enemy of the empire
he is *on side* with clinton’s vow to *tear down* china’s firewall
yet moafers insist he is an empire buster doing great harm to fukusi
inspite of all the evidence to the contrary
u’re willfully obtuse crazy inventor
i rest my case
hello b
tku for posting my rants
n limited handout
just see ur post
i’d be off the loop for now
hope to come back soon

A bunch of posts missing here that were up just a couple hours ago- one by denk with some fantastic links making his case about CIA Assange and responses to him. guess this site is another Daily Kos sort, disappearing the anti-zionist exposures? Waste of time. Will go elsewhere.

for all the ‘gnashing of gums’ all we get are statement of opinions – repeated over & over
as if doing so magicly makes it true
as if wingnut rag hit pieces makes it true
the few citations provided all have a vested interest in smearing wikileaks, though are strangely silent on cryptome, even though it does exactly the same thing
so whats the one difference between them ?
exposure
thus the motivation is revealed.

The dealbreakers are simple and mightily effective: 1) Israel 2) 911 Separates the wheat from the chaff every time

The search for “dealbreakers” interests me very much; as far as anti-imperialism goes, I agree on Israel, but I don’t see why the position on 911 should be decisive; it’s a matter of interpretations, after all; or does 911 done by “real Muslims” justify Afghanistan (no proof provided against OBL), Iraq (lay state, no connection whatsoever with 911), Lebanon, Libya, Syria, etc etc?
