Haaretz Reporting On Racism With Racist Picture

Dear Haaretz,

using this picture of an Ethiopian immigrant in this context is racism. It amplifies prejudices.

You rarely see a dignified or flattering picture of a person of color in the news section of the MSM. And dark faces were scarce on TV before the producers began presenting dysfunctional behavior as entertainment.

So Israeli law doesn’t allow discrimination against Africans, but it does against Arabs. Discrimination is discrimination, whether it’s selective or not. And any country that engages in this and other sorts of selective discrimination, as Israel has done and continues to do, has no business calling itself a modern-day democracy!

mmmm, so its not just the Palestinians some Israelis have a “problem” with.

How right you are Watson.

Wow. You gotta admit them Marines are innovative!!! Recognizing that we can’t “win” the hearts and minds of the global Muslim community, these industrious uniformed patriots have devised a clever plot to PURCHASE their hearts and minds.
I wonder, how much goodwill will a quart of urine purchase?
I mean, hey, they really didn’t seem to be lining up for a session on Lindie’s leash, so maybe a good ol’ posthumous Golden Shower will do the trick!!!
(Its a wonder they haven’t already nuked us.)

relating to #4,
Pissing on the world, metaphorically, I guess.

The US military is investigating an online video purportedly showing Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, a spokesman says, calling the behaviour “disgusting”.
The video shows what appears to be four servicemen, dressed in US military uniform, relieving themselves onto three bloodied bodies on the ground, apparently aware that they are being filmed.

Hollywood has been brainwashing us on the same theme for decades. Marlon Brando, I believe, made a pertinent comment on this (but wisely, only in old age).

Interesting timing on this recently released documentary.

Something it didn’t mention though, but is of utmost importance, is the fact that this alleged Syrian Torture Apparatus has been used quite judiciously by the U.S. Intelligence Services as one of its Black Site Prisons. The current mainstream reporting of outrage mentions nothing of the CIA’s complicity with any of this…..as though the U.S. is innocent, and distinct from such ruthless, debased tactics. As the following points out, rendition to these Black Sites for Torture and Murder has not ceased under Obama. It continues to this day, which makes what’s going on with Syria even more intriguing and perplexing. One day they’re using the Syrians, like an outsourced call center to India, to torture and murder the bevy of “terrorists” that are seemingly everywhere these days, or so the story goes, and the next day, the Syrians are being pilloried in the press as murdering torturers that must be deposed. It’s a shame for the common people of Syria who are caught in the crossfire of all this clandestine duplicity. Such a pity for Assad and his wife who seemed so cosmopolitan and Western. Well, it seems Vogue has removed the article from their site where they spoke glowingly of the Assad couple and family. In its stead, I have linked to the Atlantic which discusses the glowing character assessment from Vogue. As you can see, when you attempt to access the Vogue article from the Atlantic link, it says “page can no longer be found.” Funny, that.

A country built on fierce colonialism and religionist principles as well as immigrants coming from all over the world is bound to be “racist” in its tiniest pockets and corners. I only went to Israel once, 25 years ago, and while aware of its history / the Palestinians, etc. I was astonished at all the petty-minded religious, ethnic, racial, nationalist “racisms”, as well as the reliance on cues or criteria of wealth, status, relations, background, etc. A pecking order so fine-grained and so lunatic it would take you 20 years to dope it out, to no purpose. I went there for work, it seemed to me that ppl could get nothing done because they were so immersed in the clannish in-group relations and discrimination towards other groups (not counting Palestinians who were non ppl.) And those were the good times! Israel was in far better shape at that time than today.
The entrenched ‘leaders’ I met figured out from history and books that I had Jewish ‘roots’ (they look these things up and talk about them constantly…) and tried to claim me and co-opt me. Very unsettling.
At that time, they considered blacks, Africans, to be akin to monkeys, the bottom of the barrel, and scorned the US for moving towards ‘equality‘ and civil rights for all. Easy, cheap racism as there were no Africans in Israel at that time (as far as I could see), hating those who are absent, invisible is not directly damaging to the society, it is felt. This attitude legitimized other ‘scales’ and ‘gradations’…
Israel’s immigration policy – based on getting all those who support the Zionist cause, no matter for what the reason (e.g. US settlers) – is catastrophic and punishingly draining, and is pursued to the detriment of long-time inhabitants, including Jewish ones.
Emigration is very high, too – so there is a constant in-and-out mix. So, each mini-clan vies for supremacy (the Orthodox..) and funding, and hate spews out of every corner. The Gvmt. has only one prism, maintaining implacable hate for Arabs/Palestinians and aggression towards them at any cost, to hold on to US support, without it would be a minuscule backwater, ignored or even derided, attacked and mocked in the media.
Countries that had black slaves at home (e.g. US) and colonialist apartheid abroad (e.g. S Africa) fared better, perhaps, though comparing is dicey.

– from the to post
I suppose what is meant is ordinary, and poor ppl, because Obiman, Martin Luther King, Oprah, Naomi Campbell (model), Toni Morrison (writer), and countless more seem to have very positive pix. (US.)
The media (west) goes to great pains to portray ‘diversity’ and that extends to teen-age swimmers, librarians, faithful moms with sons in the military, new biz owners, pre-school teachers, basket ball aficionados, etc. etc. all of them ‘of color.’
