The Palestine Papers – Aljazeerah
Secret papers reveal slow death of Middle East peace process – Guardian

Abbas and his goons gave away more than they can give away. That still wasn't enough for the Israeli Jews and their U.S. government advocates. They want it all – and even more. Including the dome which they want to tear down to build their third temple.

The publishing of these papers marks the end of the two state solution and the end of the Abbas and PLO regime. There will be more wars.

I find it difficult to know which way this leak is going to go. Final proof of Palestinian weakness? clear evidence of Israeli intransigence? I think everyone knew the Palestinians are in a weak position.
On the other hand, the Israelis have always needed to keep their real objectives secret. But now, day by day, secret Israeli policies, going back fifty years, are leaking out. Not good for them.
It depends in part on who leaked. Was it a Palestinian whistleblower? Was it Israel? (Yes, Israel would be capable of leaking Palestinian papers to al-Jazeera).

Only partly on topic, but I was fascinated by this link on Mondoweiss.
Forget Iran, Israel’s biggest enemy is itself.
Absurd title, but the contents are good. I’d always believed that Israeli hi-tech was genuine. But it turns out a lot is subsidised from the States, and is not justified on purely economic grounds. American Jews pushing for investment in the theoretical “homeland”.
Of course, a lot of the hasbara recently has been about how Israel no longer needs the US public subsidies, because its economy is such a rocketing success.
Apparently not.

this ought to decapitate the palestinian negotiation team, strengthen hamas and hezbollah, and expose israeli leadership for the snakes they are.
israel is too chickenshit to survive, and so is israeli america, and both seem to get more chickenshit every day.
israel cant survive without protection from america, and america is going downhill, fast… the only solution is for israeli america, believing as it does in “might makes right”, to grab the remaining substance that made them so mighty in the first place, and deprive their rivals of access to that substance.
too bad russia’s got so much oil, too bad putin chased the oily israeli russians out of dodge, and it’s way too damn bad that israel and benevolent global hegemony are such ridiculous ideas that most likely they’re only cover for the biggest looting operation ever.

Sure hope so, leaks I guess courtesy of Dahlan. Time the Palestinians arrest the traitors, disband the PA and sort their political aspirations instead of constantly blaming Israel.

Rice: US army presence in Iraq protects Israel
Former US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice reassured Israel that the US military presence in Iraq should calm any Israeli security concerns “from the east,” minutes from a 2008 trilateral meeting between Rice and the Israeli and Palestinian negotiation teams reveal.
Discussing the needs of Israel regarding Palestinian security forces in a future-Palestinian state, former foreign minister Tzipi Livni expressed concern over a third-party military force protecting a Palestinian state’s external borders. Secretary Rice inserted, “At this time there is no threat from the east because our forces are in Iraq and will stay there for a long time.” Chief Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat added, “For a very, very long time.”

@hans – leaks I guess courtesy of Dahlan.
Unlikely in my view. According to the Guardian they came from some disgruntled employee of the negotiation support unit.
But Dahlan may use this to try to make himself king. He would not be successful in that. Most Palestinians seem to hate him.

hans says…

“…constantly blaming Israel…”
question for hans: why did israel leave gaza, and why are the israelis continuing to nibble at the west bank, while setting impossible conditions for the palestinians in the “negotiations”?

need a clue, hans?

i hate to keep beating this horse, but it’s just too relevant…
robert aumann got a nobel prize for his game theory, and one of his award-winning theories goes something like this:

“How might a person, firm or country who has extra information utilize the advantage?
How might an ignorant player infer information known to another player by observing that player’s past actions?
Should an informed player take advantage of the information for short-run gains, thereby risking to reveal his information to other players, or should he conceal the information in order to gain more in the future?”

Robert Aumann’s and Thomas Schelling’s Contributions to Game Theory

in other words, despite the global warming denials from the israeli americans of the AEI and their exxon allies, israelis are behaving as if they believe in global warming and eventual sea level rise.
despite exxon’s denials and those of their go-to guy for peak oil denial, danial yergin at CERA, israelis and their neocon allies are behaving as if they believe in peak oil.
seeing as how peak oil seems to be the most immediate threat (global crude production having peaked, according to the IEA, in 2006), israel must be secured from sea level rise before its american protection collapses from oil shortages.
doc aumann and his “center for rationality” could see the logic in all the above, despite aumann’s apparent association with the chabad lubavitcher religious lunatics.

Over at Juan Cole:
“The documents have frank admissions. Tzipi Livni said:
‘Israel takes more land [so] that the Palestinian state will be impossible . . . the Israel policy is to take more and more land day after day and that at the end of the day we’ll say that is impossible, we already have the land and we cannot create the state’. She conceded that it had been ‘the policy of the government for a really long time.'”

This does seem to indicate that the PLO and their thugs are toast. Meanwhile, the hasbara crowd is going absolutely nuts, so there must exist the potential for significant damage to Israel’s image. Perhaps their whole narrative, deceitfully constructed over the last 100 years, will unravel.
Oh well, one can always hope…
