Saakashvili goons: Reports: Protest Venue at President’s Residence ‘Raided’

Dozens of law enforcement officers, some in uniforms and others in plain cloths, “raided” a protest venue outside the presidential residence in the Avlabari district in Tbilisi late on June 18, opposition activists camped there for about two months said.
Television pictures aired by Maestro TV showed torn banners and damaged improvised prison cells. Opposition activists, mainly those from the Movement for United Georgia, said that some of the activists were beaten and several arrested. It was not immediately clear how many of the protesters were arrested if any.

While I am deeply suspicious and distrust ex-Fed officials and their “born again conciseness”, Paul Craig Roberts is right on target:
Iran Faces Greater Risks Than It Knows

Thanks, balkanac. I wonder if Obama’s “concerned” about these disturbing events unfolding in Peru? The MSM seems to have overlooked this, even though it’s the very same thing they’re claiming is going on in Iran. Why the disparity in coverage? I think we know why, but most dopes dont’t, unfortunately.

@balkanac
Thank you for the link, PCRs analysis is spot-on … especially the careful and targeted shaping of western public opinion … the blatantly prominent and highlighted memed ENGLISH placards … yes, entirely spontaneous and relevant to the internal Iranian grievances … Not.
This is all about setting the conditions and cementing foundation (re western superficial public perception) the justification for future actions whilst simultaneously undermining the existing regime …
Repeated &refined endlessly since SOE & OSS from WWII, Mossadeqh in ’53 and so on … simply more sophisticated in each incarnation … lessons learned, and all … andfor what, at what human cost …

From balkanac @ #5, under the links thread, this post by Paul Craig Roberts, in which he writes:

Amadinejad’s campaign against corruption has brought Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri out against him. Montazeri is a rival to ruling Ayatollah Khamenei. Montazeri sees in the street protests an opportunity to challenge Khamenei for the leadership role.
So, once again, as so many times in history, the ambitions of one person might seal the fate of the Iranian state.
Khamenei knows that the elected president is an underling. If he has to sacrifice Ahmadinejad’s election in order to fend off Montazeri, he might recount the vote and elect Mousavi, thinking that will bring an end to the controversy.

Any of our knowledgeable commenters have information about Grand Ayatollah Montazeri? I’ve read about Rafsanjani making a move against Khamenei, but not this Montazeri. Who wants to take Khamenei’s job? Who’s leading the removal group?

Massive corruption in Wall Street is ignored by the government. Or something like that–it’s a good read.
