Just Another Hypocrite

Nothing contained in the present Charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state …
Charter of the United Nations, Article 2/7

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged an immediate stop on Monday to use of force against civilians in Iran and urged authorities to respect civil rights in dealing with protests over presidential election results.

A statement issued by Ban's press office said he was dismayed by the post-election violence, "particularly the use of force against civilians."
UN's Ban urges halt to use of force in Iran

Dozens are reported injured after violent clashes between UN security forces and Kosovo Serb demonstrators in the divided city of Mitrovica in northern Kosovo. The violence erupted when UN police stormed a courthouse which was being occupied by Serb protestors.

After the UN police seized the courthouse, thousands of Serbs surrounded the compound and clashed with riot police and NATO troops. The UN forces used tear gas and stun grenades to try to ward off the rioters. UN police said 53 Serb demonstrators had been arrested.

b, I don’t usually watch CNN, but I was forced to when we had our Iranian friend over for dinner this past Saturday night and he pleaded us to turn on CNN to watch the coverage of the Iranian Protests. CNN is airing commercials, quite frequently, apparently, just like the following:
United Against Nuclear Iran
I don’t have to tell you the effect that has on the addled brains of an unwitting audience. It’s disgusting when you juxtapose those ads with the tainted coverage of the events in Iran.
Oh, and guess who was promoting the Neda symbol last night during his interview with John Bolton, speaking of the United Nations? That’s right, Sean Hannity. Exactly as I described. The Western Media would usurp this image and symbol and parlay it into their own propaganda for purposes that are not in the best interests of ALL the Iranian people. Hannity proceeded all of this with a replay of Reagan’s call for support of the Polish people during their uprising in the 80’s. Hannity wants to know why Obama doesn’t have the balls of Reagan and call the Iranian Government to the carpet on this. I must say, Obama’s stance is curious to me. I know you proferred an explanation, but I think there’s more to it than that….I’m just not sure what it is. Time will tell, of course. It’s certainly not for magnanimous reasons, of that much I’m certain.

This simply representative of the state of commercial news coverage these days. Everything must be boiled down to the lowest level of comprehension: Us vs Them, Good vs Evil, God vs Satan, Big Government vs Free Enterprise, etc.
If that is how you want and like your news, then you have no end of people willing to supply it. If you want to figure things out for yourself, you have to visit blogs like MoA.

The mainstream media is not in the news business at all, but in the entertainment business.
As for Ban Ki-moon, the US lackey, while Iran dismays him, he wasn’t dismayed by the vastly greater Israeli use of force against Gazans several months ago. So he’s just another part of the entertainment. They’ve brought in the clowns, and he’s one of them.

Obamageddy, Greenwald nails this argument, would it have helped MLK’s civil rights cause if the USSR had supported his cause of social justice?

Ban is a Protestant Christian from Korea, a land filled with nutcase Christian evangelicals.
That’s almost certainly your explanation for his silence on Gaza — and the US preference for him in the UN’s catbird seat.
